A Spanish YouTuber is facing prison time for giving

Oreos filled with toothpaste to a homeless man. Welcome back to What's

Trending, I'm Shira Lazar. Be sure to like this video and subscribe for more social

media news daily. Kanghua Ren posts on YouTube under the name ReSet. He performs

challenges on his channel and plays the occasional game of Fortnite as well, but

on this occasion, he removed the cream from the middle of Oreo cookies, replaced

it with toothpaste, and then gave the package to a homeless man. He also gave

the man, who was initially grateful, a 20 Euro bill. In the video, which was

originally posted in January 2017 and has since been removed, ReSet says: "Maybe

I've gone a bit far, but look at the positive side: this will help him clean

his teeth. I think he hasn't cleaned them since he became poor." But the police

aren't looking at the "positive side." He has now been charged with a "crime

against moral integrity" and faces two years in prison and a fine of 30,000

Euro, which is over $37,000 U.S. dollars. The homeless man identified by

authorities as George L., told Spanish newspaper El Pais that he became sick

and vomited within a few minutes of eating the cookies. Prosecutors were

insistent on holding a ReSet accountable, since they say his intention was to

humiliate the man. Definitely seems that way. I don't know. I don't know what else

you would be thinking, like what's the point of a video like this? I mean, you're

basically playing a trick on someone hoping it will go viral. But some people

think that imprisonment is taking this a bit too far. After all, there are

literally thousands of videos online of people pranking friends and family with

toothpaste Oreos.

And while we don't doubt the victims claim that he got sick, how did he not

know right away that it was toothpaste and not cream? Since the incident, ReSet

has apologized multiple times and even shot a video where he lived on the

street for 48 hours in an attempt to help his viewers understand the plight

of the homeless. That really should help this whole situation. And it doesn't even

matter because now prosecutors, they're not backing down.

They argue that reset not only humiliated the man, but made over 2,000

Euro doing it through YouTube advertising. They also say that the

apologies are merely an attempt to turn public opinion back in his favor. He also

reportedly offered George L. 300 Euro to not talk to the police or the press.

And in a previous prank, he offered sandwiches filled with cat feces to

children and the elderly. Wow, this guy is becoming more of a winner every moment.

So now the public is waiting on a Barcelona Court to decide whether ReSet

should go to jail, and people online are torn. BurnerBecausePeopleAMIRITE

says: "Wow - 2 years in prison for a prank (admittedly

a dick move) that was in no way dangerous to the person being pranked? Yeah...Europe

is great." Not Enough Day Drinking says: "Man intentionally poisons another human

being for profit. You're damn right you should be arrested. Surprised it's not

assault to be honest." Yeah, because toothpaste is not good for you if you eat a

bunch of it and it's just not supposed to be eaten. And if you do do that to someone,

like give it to them for food, you're creating trouble or you should expect

trouble. I mean, I guess if you prank someone with this, you assume that they

would just realize it was a prank right away and that it was toothpaste,

but that's not a given. In the meantime, ReSets channel still has 1.2 million

subscribers with new content going up all the time. So what do you guys think?

- Hey guys what's going on.

It's Alex from Fitment Industries

and today we're gonna talk to you about another episode

of wheel history.

Now usually, there's some sort of creative

or quick-whipped intro to a video like this.

But we just got 18 inches of snow

so there's really nothing for us to do in Wisconsin

besides make videos for you guys.

And on top of that, Mario just had his wisdom teeth

ripped out so he's just eating Spongebob

Ice Cream pop things.

I'm not entirely sure what it is.

It doesn't even look that good.

But today, we're gonna talk to you about

the truth of Cosmis racing wheels.

(upbeat hip hop music)

- So back in the day,

and when I say back in the day,

I mean 10 years ago.

If you wanted to have aftermarket wheels for

your sport compact car,

you had about three options.

You had Enkei, Rota, and Enkei.

So what happened when you finally introduced

a fourth company.

Well that company is essentially what Cosmis

Racing Wheels is.

Cosmis Racing was founded in 2011

and didn't come into the United States until 2013.

Cosmis specializes in cast aluminum one-piece

sport compact wheels.

And honestly Cosmis Racing has taken over the aftermarket

wheel game by storm.

You have to remember that a lot of these brands

that we talk about are either four to five decades old

or 10 years old.

And Cosmis Racing is in that 10 year old category.

They're competing against companies like Enkei.

They're competing with companies like even Wedssport

some would say.

And other sport compact style wheels.

Then the things like 15x52 have as well.

But the difference is,

is Cosmis Racing is providing a bunch of different

styling and aggressive offset that a lot of newer companies

just aren't providing.

So when Cosmis Racing officially entered the

United States of America,

They had one goal.

To make bada** wheels that wouldn't break the bank.

That's honestly what they were trying to do.

And I would say that they've done it pretty well so far.

Now if you go to Cosmis Racing online,

you're gonna see there's Cosmis Racing International

and they are very much two different things.

Cosmis Racing is able to select the wheels that

they want to bring into the states.

Whereas Cosmis Racing International just brings

as many wheels as possible to be made and sold

everywhere around the world.

So the reason that Cosmis Racing has grown so much

in the past few years

is because these wheel designs are essentially

getting hand-picked by the team that's importing them

instead of just bringing in every single wheel design

that Cosmis Racing makes.

Good ol' Cosmis is owned by a parent company

called Ppsuperwheels.

(laughs)

- You can't laugh! I'm recording myself!

- (Alex) And uh..

- I brought snacks.

- I came back because I heard snacks.

- I really just wanted to be in the video.

- (Alex) So Ppsuperwheels was founded in 2004

in Thailand and their goal was very simple.

To make chrome and polished and colored wheels

in staggered fitments.

I wish I can make it sound fancier than what it was

but that is ultimately what their goal was.

Their mission statement, all that stuff

isn't too exciting to read.

Now what ended up happening is after about seven years,

PPsuperwheels decided to found their own sport

compact design wheel called Cosmis Racing.

Cosmis Racing was then produced.

They have thousands of, not really thousands,

but they have a ton of different designs.

Cosmis Racing actually has way too many designs

that we'd be able to talk about or even distinguish.

But most of them, if not all, are the low pressure

cast or rotary forged, flow forged tach wheels.

So Ppsuperwheels decided to debut the Cosmis Racing

line at their booth at SEMA in Las Vegas in 2012.

And it was overall a very good success.

A lot of people were very interested in understanding

what they were trying to do with the Cosmis Racing brand.

And it got picked up extremely quick.

Shortly thereafter,

the United States division was made for Cosmis Racing

and that's where we get

you know, Cosmis.

So when Cosmis comes up in discussion,

there's usually a few questions that surround it.

Who are they?

Are they Reps?

And are they any good?

Now the company itself is relatively new in

the United States and they still got a lot of room to grow

in certain aspects of their business

but we'll get into that later.

Cosmis Racing specializes in the reason that they're

so good at what they do because of their aggressive sizing.

So when it comes to low pressure cast wheels,

a lot of times you get your standard finished offsets.

You get your 35's,

you get your 42's,

you get your 45's.

8 1/2's and 9 1/2's is pretty much where a lot

of those one piece cast wheels draw the line.

That's where Cosmis truly shines.

These guys have extremely aggressive offsets

and finishes for their one piece cast wheels.

We're talking 18x11 at a plus 10 or even a plus five offset

in a one piece wheel.

And even though that these wheels are made in Taiwan,

a lot of their finishes are better than a lot of other

wheel brands that we've seen.

On top of that,

they specialize a lot in sort of their detailed

styling for their wheels.

Probably my personal favorite is the 005R and the XT206R.

And if you look at some of the finishes with the red

and the milling and the polished barrel

with the black inside barrel.

It's just crazy cool the amount of effort

that they put into these wheels.

And that's what makes Cosmis so special

is the fact that these guys are really diving into

what they can do with a one piece low pressure cast wheel

without necessarily breaking the bank.

Now because of their aggressive offsets and sizing,

you aren't gonna get a lot of your standard sizing

for necessarily like a Subaru or an Evo or anything

like that.

These guys specialize in the more aggressive offsets

which means you're gonna have to worry on the things

they're going to hit.

And that's where Cosmis is kinda needing to work

on a couple of their things.

Cosmis Racing has really only aggressive styling right now.

And they only have very common bolt patterns.

They do have to get more into the four bolt application

and on top of that

they gotta get some more normal offset sizing

for people that just wanna run their wheels

without having to worry about doing over fenders,

wide body, or riveted whatever the hell people

are doing these days.

Whatever that is.

But they need to get into that

if they plan on continuing to grow.

And besides companies like American Racing and Fuse,

you can't really get the sizing options

that Cosmis provides.

They really have hit a market that specializes in what

they want to do.

It's a niche market between the s2000's,

the Miata's, the sport compacts,

the sport style cars that a lot of people

are truly starting to love these wheels.

Because finally people have an answer

to buying wheels that aren't Enkei or Roda.

Cosmis Racing is really where any company

for a wheel company would want to be.

They have the market, they have a lot

of attention on their brand.

But now it comes down to is if they can actually

capitalize on this and do it right.

We've seen a lot of brands that have come out

that have started to grow extremely fast and then

they make a huge fundamental mistake

and I would hate to see Cosmis Racing do that.

The cool thing is,

is that Cosmis has PPsuperwheels behind it

because it allows them to look at designs

and get new fresh faces almost every single month

if they really want to.

Cosmis Racing is in a very unique situation

because they can do that and they can pick

and choose the designs that come in.

Especially the colors.

Now with the colors, and the offsets,

and the size

you might be wondering

so what is Cosmis Racing doing to elevate or

evolve the game as a pretty good question.

There are companies that are out there

that their goal is to change the game

in any way, shape, or form.

And then you have other brands that are going out there

to say this is the game.

How can we make it the best possible version

of what we want as possible.

And that's what Cosmis is doing.

They're not really trying to elevate

or change a lot of stuff more than they are

just trying to provide something that isn't in the

market right now.

Which is a competitive low pressure cast wheel.

Now you have to remember on something like this,

especially with these wheels to get something with

a deep lip, to get something with concavity,

to get something with three different color design profiles

on their wheels.

It just doesn't exist right now.

And there really is no competition for it

besides your standard competition which we talked about

in the past.

So, while Cosmis doesn't have a lot of history,

they really don't need a lot of history

because the market that they're hitting is relatively new.

So, are Cosmis any good?

Well the short answer would be yes.

They have a ton of different designs,

most of which are original.

Some of which, if you look internationally

are not original.

But for the most part, they do very well.

They're JWL and VIA tested so they are getting

a good wheel that's manufactured,

and safety and all of that stuff.

Now we do not have any sort of rigidity or actual

bending testing that we found.

But there are other tests out there that do that.

On top of that,

when we reached out to Cosmis,

they told us that they only do business with two factories

in Taiwan because those are the only two

that actually meet their testing regulations

for making these wheels.

Cosmis Racing USA has six employees.

That's it.

Six employees.

Which you can probably find most of them on Facebook

if you try hard enough.

But they're mostly good guys.

The six employees actually do all the marketing,

import and all that sort of good stuff to make

sure that people are getting their wheels.

Now when you think about is six people,

it is not a lot of people to be running

a huge wheel brand.

So we should be seeing more staff

and more customer service come on through the team.

Probably sooner rather than later.

So in 2013 and 14,

they actually partnered with a company called

Rent4Ring which is a Nurburgring company

that allows you to rent vehicles as one of their

partnered and official wheel vendors,

which is pretty cool.

On top of that, for bragging rights,

they also have partnered with Need for Speed.

Which one?

Let me check.

Need for Speed No Limit.

So what that means is that they're actually listed

on there as a wheel that you can go out and modify

you know whatever car that you'd modify.

So what is on the track for Cosmis?

Well they're doing pretty well

and they'll continue to do well.

They plan on introducing more styles,

more options, more finishes and all that sort of stuff.

Their history is looking pretty fresh.

I mean they have everything that they need

to be a successful company.

And I know that you guys are always questioning

on if they're a good brand or not.

And our experience with them has always been great.

We've yet to hear any sort of issues

or problems with bent or broken wheels

unless you're like Parker that gave me the

beef jerky and decided to smash his car

at around 90 miles an hour around the turn

pretending to be a drifter.

So Cosmis Racing,

Gulp! bloodworms, which are fake bloodworms,

versus live bloodworms.

Live bloodworms run around $12 - $15 a dozen,

On that rod, I've got the Gulp! artificial one,

and on this one, I'm going to put a live one, which is--

look at how large this one is. It looks great, [Oh my goodness.]

and you guys have seen me use bloodworms before,

I am a fan of them now.

They catch a lot of fish,

especially this time of year,

in, in, in Northeastern America,

Now, I'm using this on a single rig, now,

just because I don't want to waste the bloodworms,

they're so expensive and,

something that me and my friend were talking about,

Jason, is that

having one, single hook, versus two,

will save you a lot of money on your bait.

The line I'm using today is, uh, we picked up some Godline

from a store called FishingSir, I don't know if you guys have heard of it,

I used to go with PLine braid,

I used to go with more expensive, like Spyder Wire braid, and

and other, other braids like that,

um, but I've come to the realization that I change my braid out so much that

it's not worth it to spend that much on the braid,

um, Godline has been doing really well for me lately, um,

[Is it God-like?]

[Is it Godline?]

It's very strong, I have to say that, and I really like the high visibility on it,

um, it comes with a lot and it's a good price,

if you guys are interested in more braid, check the link in the description below,

uh, Godline is what I recommend

if you're looking for some cheap, durable braid that you can use a lot of.

I like braid because it casts further than mono.

like, I get a better sensation and a better hook set with braid,

but that's just my opinion.

it is actually regulation

that you must use circle hooks when you're targeting striped bass

and I think that's a great thing

because it really saves it from getting gut-hooked

this was-this was hooked on its lip rather than its gut

and undersized fish like this

you need to let them go so that they can grow.

It hit it instantly, as soon as I threw it out there,

and that's the thing witht he circle hooks,

you can let it just keep eating it,

'cause as soon as it runs away with it, it's going to hook itself.

[Right, you don't have to set the hook.]

Yup.

Ooh, ooh, fish.

and these rods can't stop getting eaten,

so in order to find a cheaper solution to bloodworms,

we're going to try something a little different.

um, he told us that--

Hello my friends, this BobbieD, coming to you form Talamban, Philippines.

I'm having an awesome time in the Philippines today, hope you are as well, wherever you're

from.

Hey, today, I want to talk to you about Justice For OFW Joanna Demafelis (body found in a

Freezer).

Now when we talk about the Philippines, you gotta understand this is a country where OFW's

Overseas Filipino Workers are abundant.

There are approximately 200 million Filipinos in the Philippines, in this country alone

and of that number, 10 percent are Overseas Filipino Workers.

Yeah!

And so OFW's are very important to this country's economy, and to this country's development

and future development as well.

This is a continuation of our series on crime.

And so today we're looking at the case of Joanna Demafelis.

A29, year old Filipina.

Joanna was the sixth of 9 children in the family and was raised in the Province.

Now Joanna was like most Filipinas, always wanted to help her mamma and papa and her

family.

So in 2013, Joanna's family was a victim of the huge typhoon called Yolanda.

It practically demolished their house.

And so Joanna wanted to do something to help the family recover from the typhoon damage.

She wanted to go and be an OFW to help her family renovate their home, help her family

re-purchase their mortgaged farm, and to help one of her siblings finish schooling.

So Joanna signed up with an agency and the next thing you know, She was on her way to

Kuwait.

And there she was employed by Nader Assaf and his wife Mona.

Now, Nader was a Lebanese national and his wife a Syrian national.

There Joanna worked for approximately a year and a half where she sporadically communicated

to her family and sent money home.

There was a time where the family had no communication with her for over a year.

And the family became very very concerned about this and reported Joanna as missing

to the OFW authorities.

Lo and behold, approximately a year later the manager of the apartment where Joanna

was employed, came to the apartment opened the door and found that the couple had left

the apartment empty.

And they searched the apartment and lo and behold, they found the body of Joanna, stuffed

in a freezer.

What a sad situation.

So, The manager reported it to the police and the authorities put out an international

manhunt for Nader and his wife Mona.

They were found, in Syria.

Damascus, Syria.

Nader was transferred to Lebanon and his wife now is in custody in Syria.

As a result of this heinous crime, President Duterte placed a ban on deployment for OFW's

to Kuwait.

Now, this ban is still in effect.

It doesn't affect those that are already there.

There's approximately 250 thousand Filipinos working as OFW's.

This ban affects future deployment to Kuwait.

This crime was so heinous, that it caused an international outcry from Human Rights

activists.

How could this happen to an OFW that was just trying to do her job?

It, it's imperative that the countries that OFW's work in protect the OFW's.

Arab nations handle OFW's under the system called KAFALA.

This is a system that's administered through most Arab nations.

It allows the employer to withhold visas, passport, cellphones, any computer equipment,

anything that would allow the OFW to communicate with their relatives and friends back home,

the employer has a right to withhold those items.

Not only that, if the OFW wants to change jobs, they have to get permission from the

employer.

It is thought that Joanna's communication may have been limited, due, due to her being

under the KAFALA system.

So, this is a terrible system.

It lends itself to abuse.

Because when you think about it, the employer of the OFW has pretty much total control of

the OFW.

When they have the ability to withhold their visa, when they have the ability to withold

their cellphone, and other communication devices, where they can't communicate to their loved

ones, that's control.

So this type of system contribute to the abusive environment of OFW's.

So, what am I saying?

Here we have a young lady, 29 years old, beautiful young lady, who was simly trying to help her

family and she volunterred to be an OFW.

She did'nt volunteer to be abused, She did'nt volunteer to be hurt, She did'nt volunteer

to be damaged, She did'nt volunteer to be brutalized and, and and mistreated.

Yet that's what happened and this is some things that, thank goodness, President Duterte

is working on to protect the rights of OFW's.

So what am I saying?

The bottom line is.

And I repeat in the words of Joejet Demafelis, which is Joanna's brother: Joanna did not

go to Kuwait to be killed.

She went there to help the family.

And it's good that th governmment eventually helped the family get their house repaired,

they helped the family repurchase thir mortgaged farm, and they helped the family send their

sibling to school.

It's good that all that happened, but it's terrible that it had to happen at the expense

of Joanna's life.

server Republican representative Mark meadows cited them in a letter earlier

this week claiming former FBI director James Comey testimony to congr s in

which he downplayed FBI DOJ coordination on the Clinton case may be at odds with

public testimony that he did not coordinate with the DOJ for his July

2016 public recommendation not to pursue charges against Clinton meadows

I'm Going to Playlist Live 2018 - Duration: 1:24.

Hey everyone! It's Heidi. This year I'm going to Playlist Live in Orlando,

Florida. The last time that I went to Playlist Live in 2016, I actually flew

down by myself to Orlando for the weekend. It was this big adventure and

now I actually live here. It was really fun in 2016. I remember there being free

cotton candy and a bunch of people giving performances. The pool is amazing.

I still think that's my favorite pool in a hotel ever. The pool party was really

cool. I got to meet some people from Twitter. I got to meet Dan and Phil. It

was just a really fun weekend. Just like two years ago, I plan on vlogging my

experience there, so look out for a video from Playlist pretty soon. If you want to

watch my vlog from Playlist Live 2016, I will put a link to that in the

description of this video. This year at Playlist Live, there are lots of creators

that I just have never seen before. I've already reserved my meetups and I have

meet ups 2 and 40, so I get to meet a bunch of creators, and if you're

Bhad Bhabie Responds to Backlash Over Cardi B and Nicki Minaj Comments - Duration: 1:20.

For Complex News, I'm Pierce Simpson, and while this is a news story about Bhad Bhabie,

we promise this won't involve any other ratchet viral girls scrapping with the girl

behind the gold-certified "Hi Bich," promise.

Earlier this week, Billboard announced the nominees for their Billboard Music Awards,

which go down on May 20, 2018.

One of the most fiercely discussed categories was Top Female Rap Artist, which featured

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Bhad Bhabie, although if the BBMAs are based on sales, streams,

and the like, there should be no question as to why Bhad Bhabie is in that category.

Hell, her single "Hi Bich" just went gold.

When TMZ caught up with Bhad Bhabie, she let it be known that she felt Cardi B would obviously

win the award, because she deserved it.

Sounds a lot like facts.

Bhad Bhabie continued on, and might have said a little too much.

"Cardi is way better than Nicki, I don't care what anyone says.

Cardi actually says stuff, Nicki just has attitude.

So what.

Big deal."

We imagine the Barbz lit her mentions up for that one, and days later, Bhad Bhabie decided

to clarify the comments she made on a clip where she specifically wrote "I got love

for both of 'em."

"All I said was I like Cardi more.

I'm allowed to say I like someone more than another person.

I'm super excited for the Game of Favorites because I found this great internet connection

Which is like 10 times faster without exaggerating than any connection that I've had before

Alright there's different graphical things that I'm going to improve with the Game of

Favorites

But that's not why you're watching this video, right?

We wanna talk about who did I invite to the game show this time round?

The answer is a really great group of people, the first of which is Joseph

I have a lot in common with Joseph

He and I both were studying to be priests with the Legionaries of Christ

And obviously we both discerned out

But as far as where our formation comes from and values that are normal for us

Like how we think

We just have that common ground to build on

Another thing that we have in common is that Joseph and I are both very smart

No, Joseph is much, much smarter than I am

He's a grad student studying astronomy

He also has a degree in philosophy and a passion to continue studying philosophy

The guy organizes a group that meets I think once a month to talk about the latest episode

from Pints with Aquinas

So in short Joseph is a guy that beautifully blends together faith and reason

Very very smart guy

We'll see how he does at the Game of Favorites

Because the Game of Favorites isn't necessarily about being smart

It's about being clever

That might overlap, we'll find out!

The second person competing to win the Game of Favorites this Saturday is John

John is a FOCUS missionary and I love FOCUS missionaries

They do so much good work

I only met John back in August or so so I don't know him terribly well

But he's one of those guys that's a lot of fun to pick on

And that might be why I invited him onto the show

Wait no hold on

He's also funny in his own right

He really is

I should talk him up right now

He's a very tall man, I look up to him

And he's got this great heart where he just instinctively cares about people in his life

He's very easy going

You can always talk to him about anything that's on your mind

And whatever's on his mind he feels very free to talk about

He also doesn't know yet exactly how the Game of Favorites works

So I'm not sure how much I should explain to him

Or if we should just surprise him on the show

We'll find out

The third person coming to the Game of Favorites is Erina

Funny backstory:

Originally I had two other people slotted in to play this round

But both of those people fell through

One of those people can't make it anymore because,

Well it was a miscommunication issue

Times and dates and things

I get to learn how to be a better communicator in the future so this is a positive thing

And then the other person just got double booked

Which is unfortunate, but sometimes that happens in life

We'll manage

But anyways that meant that in the last couple of days I had to scour the internet and try

to find somebody to fill in

And someone that would make a good contestant on the Game of Favorites

And the first person that I found is Erina

She comes highly recommended by one of the people that had to drop out

And I just met her two days ago

So don't know if I have that much to tell you about her

She's from Texas

John is also from Texas, come to think of it

So I don't know, does that mean that they're going to build up some camaraderie or is there

going to be some rivalry

She's an ENFP according to Meyer's Briggs

Which means what it means

She's cheery, she's bright, she's light hearted

She's fun to talk to

I talked to her so I can tell you that she is indeed fun to talk to

And I'm excited to have her on and get to know her better

And the fourth final person that's competing this weekend is...

Oh shoot, is it..?

I keep confusing her name with Natalie

It's not Natalie, it's Nicole!

Nicole is going to set a record for being the youngest contestant we have had to date

on the Game of Favorites

Don't worry, she's not a minor

You don't need to go through safe environment training in order to watch the live stream

You're safe, I got you covered

I found Nicole by going to the list of my followers on Twitter and exploring that list

And one of the profiles that I clicked on was Nicole's

And I loved her timeline

I hadn't seen it before

It's just full of self-deprecating humor

And dry humor

And other humors too, I'm sure

I'm drawing a blank right now

Also when I invited Nicole, she got excited because she likes watching game shows in her

free time

So she actually knows what a game show is supposed to look like

I don't watch game shows

So I don't know who's actually going to be in charge this weekend

It might be our youngest all time contestant

Who actually knows what a game show should look like

And those are our four contestants

VERSUS - SAN YAN 1911 Vs. MARUI 1911 | AIRSOFT - Duration: 6:02.

Time to compare!

A cheap and cheerful Chinese copy to a plastic fantastic Japanese original.

I have unboxed both of these replicas in previous videos,

but let's see how they compare to each other.

The SY 1911 is a downright copy of the Marui 1911 MEU.

While the Marui replicates a World War 2 Colt M1911A1.

So one is a copy, the other is a copy of a copy...

I don't like to talk about money, but here it is:

The SY cost 66 dollars.

The MARUI is 162 dollar, and I paid for it with my own blood, sweat and tears.

There.

Are you happy now?

Let's have a look at the exterior first.

The SY 1911 is completely made out of a cheap chinesium alloy of unknown blend and strength,

except the grips which are plastic.

Marui's replica, on the other hand, is made out of high-quality plastic.

However there are a few exceptions like the

mainspring housing, grip safety, thumb safety, hammer, magazine release,

trigger, slide lock, barrel bushing, recoil spring plug and plunger tube,

which are metal.

Now over to the markings.

SY opted for the minimalist approach with next to nothing on the replica.

The only visible marking is the serial number on the frame,

and a caliber marking on the barrel.

Marui in contrast went full regalia with markings and engravings.

It has everything you would expect of a proper replica, and then some!

The fake wrap around grips on the San Yan are… really awful.

The grooves are shallow, and the plastic is really shiny and slippery.

On the Marui 1911 grips the diamond cuts are deep,

providing good friction to hold on to.

The grips look like wood, but are plastic, and on the inside there are metal weights

to add heft.

Lies up on lies up on lies.

Speaking of which, let's have a look at the approximate weight.

The Marui weighs 604 grams sans mag.

The mag weighs 192 grams.

TOTAL: 796 g.

The SY weighs 531 grams sans mag.

The mag weighs 182 grams.

TOTAL: 713 grams

How can the plastic gun weigh more?

The culprit is the two aluminium weights inside the MARUI grips.

Weighing a combined 152 grams.

This is completely redundant, since the magazine compensate for the light

plastic feeling.

Both pistols operate pretty much the same.

Half-cock, full-cock, thumb safety, grip safety, slide lock

and mag release works as they should.

But Marui's controls feel more solid.

On the SY 1911, the trigger reset is beyond critique.

Pretty much non existent.

The Marui pistol trigger reset is both felt and heard.

SY has exaggerated tolerances, causing it to rattle.

This is especially obvious with the slide, barrel bushing,

and at the rear of the slide.

The Marui pistol in contrast is very stable with low tolerances.

The barrel bushing won't move unless you force it.

Even the rear of the slide is stable, just like the rest of it.

TIGHT!

TIGHTTIGHTTIGHTTIGHTTIGHT!

In conclusion

The SY has cheap metal parts in abundance, but the quality control guy could use a swift

kick in the rear,

since bits tend to fall off or not be included at all.

The weight is on the low side, the grips are a nightmare,

and EVERY corner was cut to make the replica as cheap as possible,

consequently making tolerances high, and sacrificing reliability.

However, the SY is a functioning 1911, and stuff happens when you pull the trigger.

Given the price, I'm not even mad.

That's amazing!

The main components of Marui 1911's are indeed made out of high grade plastic,

and the quality control guy is on top of his game.

Tolerances are tight, grips have good friction, and everything works flawlessly.

But the weight is artificial, moving the balance point rearward.

And it is way more expensive than the SY.

But the craftsmanship is reflected in the price of the Marui,

so if you take good care of your replica, it will probably outlast you.

I don't regret buying either 1911, even for a second, but when I enter the field

I want a dependable sidearm.

I want the Marui in my holster.

So…
