Enjoy this week's Matchday Magazine with Nobby!
Battling for a place among Europe's elite - 3 points would be a big step towards the Champions League.
Battling close rivals - fourth plays third as Dortmund host Leverkusen.
Battling to make a comeback - Andriy Yarmolenko is the guest for this week's Matchday Magazine.
Hello and welcome to your Matchday Magazine!
As for the derby… I think we should forget about that as quickly as possible,
and tomorrow we have the chance to do just that.
We play Bayer Leverkusen, one of the teams around us fighting for a Champions League place.
The Bundesliga has entered the final straight.
And remarkably - incredibly, in fact - everything revolves around the number 4 for BVB.
And not just because the club needs to forget the defeat at Schalke 04 as soon as possible.
There are 4 games to go, and everyone is fighting for the top 4 to qualify for the Champions League.
BVB are 4th in the table, and the gap to 5th? You guessed it: 4 points.
On Saturday one of our closest rivals, Bayer Leverkusen, are the visitors,
level on points with BVB but ahead on goal difference.
Let's focus on the number 3 instead:
3 points will take us back into 3rd position.
So yes, of course the aim is still to achieve the goals set for this season.
And today I'm delighted to welcome someone paying his first visit to the Matchday Magazine:
Andriy Yarmolenko, thank you for coming, hello!
You've been out injured for a long time, but now you're back in training. Are you 100% fit again?
Yes, I'm 100% ready. I've been training for two weeks in the main group,
so I'm ready to help the team wherever I can.
You weren't involved last weekend, but you experienced the atmosphere in the team after the game.
How have you reacted to, analysed and dealt with that game over the last week?
Of course I know how important this game is for Borussia,
for the fans, for our whole club, for our whole city.
So of course all the guys are upset now.
I think everyone analysed and understood that this was a bad result for us,
but we need to deal with it and move forward.
And I hope that in the next game we will delight our fans with good game and good result.
So everyone wants to show that we can do better than that.
Next up is Leverkusen, who are in great form - what sort of game are you expecting on Saturday?
Leverkusen are a good team, but we're better!
Ah, Andriy speaks German! Very good!
Of course Leverkusen are a good team, but it's all down to us.
We're playing at home in front of our fans.
We must play our game, our aggressive game, that our fans like.
And of course we need to finish the season on a high note, and end it with victories in the remaining games.
We've been talking about what's been going on recently and what you've been doing every day,
so now let's move on to our Quickfire Questions - 5 quick questions, 5 quick answers.
Andriy, what's your favourite trick on the pitch?
It is, of course… moving in from the right wing to the middle. And shooting.
What's your favourite type of music?
Honestly, it depends on my mood.
The mood I'm in will affect what music I listen to.
I don't have a specific style.
Your favourite food?
Schnitzel.
Yes - it's so good, isn't it? I love schnitzel. I - really - love - schnitzel!
That's great to hear! Who was it… Tomas Rosicky? No, we only called him that.
Yes, Rosicky.
We called him Schnitzel.
Yeah, I know that Rosicky had a nickname 'Schnitzel'.
What do you enjoy doing most outside of football?
I have two sons…
That's enough, no need to say any more - I understand what you're saying!
Do you have a favourite German word? One that you think is the best?
Scheiße!
I didn't want to say that! I definitely did not want to say that!
Everyone knows that one - it's a great word.
Now that we know a bit more about you away from football,
let's get back to the football pitch by taking a look at Andriy's time at Dortmund so far.
Andriy Yarmolenko is back and raring to go,
reinforcing BVB's attacking options for the season finale.
The summer signing made an impressive start to his BVB career, with 6 goals and 6 assists.
But after starting so well, his form dipped along with the rest of the team.
More bad news as the second half of the season got under way:
our number 9 suffered a foot injury.
After 8 games out, he was back on the bench for the home game against Stuttgart.
And now he's desperate to be involved against Leverkusen.
And that's exactly the kind of power boost Borussia need.
So, you've been here at Borussia Dortmund since last summer,
and you've been through a lot of highs and lows.
How do you assess your time at Borussia Dortmund so far?
Of course… at the start, my start, and the team's start, everything was super,
you can only dream about it.
But then the play, the team and mine, could have been better.
Then I got this stupid injury, and now I have to start again from the beginning.
So I have to… work a lot in training, to show a good, quality game and delight our fans.
Now that Michy Batshuayi is injured, our options at centre forward are limited.
Is that a position you could potentially play in?
It's not a new position for me.
Of course it's more comfortable for me to play on the right,
but if the team needs it, and the head coach needs it, then I'm ready to play in any position.
You've scored 6 goals for BVB this season, but all of them have been away from home.
You haven't scored any goals yet here in our wonderful stadium -
when are you going to score here? On Saturday maybe?
In the next game.
So tomorrow?
That makes it official - he has to score tomorrow. And I'm sure he will.
This week's "One more question…" is about scoring goals.
One of your teammates has a question for you.
Yarmo, I've always wanted to know: why do you kiss your forearm after every goal?
Because here I have a tattoo with my kids' names.
So I dedicate all my goals to my kids, to my family.
I think every player has their own rituals - you just do it and you get used to it.
Are there any other rituals you do? Maybe before a game?
Like, something…
There's nothing special, but I think every footballer and every person,
if he does something successfully,
tries to do everything that he did before, for example, a successful game.
Now we come to one of our own Matchday Magazine rituals: The Duel.
DUEL
BOTTOM LEFT - BOTTOM RIGHT
Three, two, one… show your card.
I think so too.
BOTTOM LEFT
Left…
1-1
FUMBLED IN - HEADED TO SAFETY
Three, two, one…
That's Teddy.
I know!
HEADED TO SAFETY
This is not a moment!
2-2
PAINFUL GOAL - PAINFUL SAVE
Three, two, one…
We'll still be level with each other!
It's because we're both strikers.
PAINFUL SAVE
Who's that? Thomas Kroth.
So it finished 3-3. Yarmo, a draw against me is a great result.
That makes the overall score 54-45.
There are three rounds to go, so unless something ridiculous happens I should win this year.
Don't screw this up for me! So I'm still in front, which is great news for me.
Let him ask players in for the interviews,
and I will take part in these games, then he will not win.
Exactly! Will you come back the next time you score?
Of course. We will not change traditions.
So that's what we'll do. Let's take a selfie now of us two.
You've got to press there, and…
Great stuff. The picture just needs a few moments,
so until it's ready let's take a look at this - there's now a mini-Yarmo.
It looks good!
Thank you very much!
Cool, thanks!
Great haircut!
So what do you make of mini-Yarmo?
Great model, but I'm more handsome in real life.
But the model is cool because my kids can play with dad,
can throw dad everywhere, so it's cool, thanks.
That's great. Now then, let's take a look at the picture.
It's good, right?
Finally, a photo that shows me how I really am. Could you just sign that please?
And that's all we've got time for today. Yarmo will score a goal against Bayer Leverkusen,
we'll win the game, and Yarmo will be back here next week.
We probably have a guest booked for next week already, but they can both be on the show.
Thank you so much for coming on the show today.
We've all got our fingers crossed for tomorrow - please win the game, it really matters,
and I know all of you at home will have your fingers crossed for the boys as well.
Together we'll make sure we get the three points.
See you next time - that's it from Nobby and...
Yarmo!
