is Ayumi Teresa I asked a bunch of you
guys on my Instagram stories just to ask
any questions related to modeling so I
thought it'd be fun if I could answer a
bunch of those questions while trying
out a bunch of new makeup I'm thinking
maybe I'll answer all the English
questions first and then go in with the
Japanese questions and then answer those
in Japanese there you guys know when to
click the subtitles when you need them
so I guess I'll go in with the first
question so the first question is how do
you apply to a model agency so this is
actually pretty simple I just looked up
a bunch of agencies that I was
interested in joining and then I applied
to a few it's pretty easy usually it's
it's always the same way here in Japan
you apply online from the agency website
yeah they want to see you in person
they'll probably contact you and I just
need the second question I really like
how cool your images as a model thank
you
was it always like that this question oh
my god I can't wait to answer this
question so yeah my agency is like known
for having like a good like a half of
the models are commercial
a little more more like high-fashion and
I've always wanted to be a high-fashion
model like on the injury side so that's
kind of what I expected when I first
joined my agency but when I joined my
agency immediately was like you me or
not as tall as high-fashion girl so you
you are gonna be a commercial model and
like for me like like I was like I don't
think I'm a commercial girl I think I'm
more edgy like I never wanted to be the
cutesy kawaii commercial girl like that
just wasn't what I was expecting
so if you've ever seen like the cheesy
like Japanese commercials like you kind
of get like the vibe I'm trying to
explain to you guys I had to dress like
in frilly dresses and like curl my hair
with pink cheeks and I was just like I
was very confused in the first two three
years I didn't have any jobs either
because I obviously wasn't targeting
like the right clients and so what I did
was I went and did a bunch of test
shoots and I got like like every chance
I could I would do a test shoot or a
photo shoot with friends and do some try
and do something edgy or more like
high-fashion and I would bring it to my
agency every time be like look like this
is what I could do look like I can do
like I could pull off this kind of
outfit I could do these kinds of facial
expressions and like I just worked so
hard to like prove to my agency that I
am I am more than like what they
expected of me like that I could I mean
sure maybe I could do commercial but I
could definitely do high-fashion and I
could
do an edgier version of modeling as well
and yeah the the hard work really paid
off years ago when I first joined my
agency I definitely wasn't a cool like
edgy model that you guys see today okay
the next question is I love your look in
the music video of spaz kids truly thank

I think this person's asking like will I
ever like go back to that image I
probably won't
um that video it was a great experience
it was so much fun and I loved it but
like that time yeah that was like
exactly what my agency was targeting me
as like the cutesy commercial model I am
happier with my look now I've always
liked edgy versus sweet and cute like if
there was mary-kate and Ashley I was
always the Ashley you know about this
place smells so let's not build another
team you made peach candy just secretly
thinks sometimes this whole outfit is
hideous but I'm gonna try my best
I'd never think it's like oh this is
hideous but like I mean a lot of times
there are there are a lot of times when
like I have to wear like outfits that
are pieces that I would personally never
wear but our job isn't to
look good and to look pretty in front of
the camera like that is not our job our
job is to make the clothing look good
like the respect goes to the clothes so
even if like it's an outfit that I would
never choose personally it's my job to
make it work it's my job to make it look
amazing it's my job to sell the outfit
it doesn't matter if I don't like the
outfit doesn't matter if I would never
wear it it's my job to sell the outfit
to sell the clothes the next question is
how much would you charge to be in a
music video as a model this really
depends because I'm not like the one to
choose my rates like because I'm signed
to an agency if I guess so however
freelance like I could kind of set my
own rate but for me it's usually like
between the clients and my managers to
decide upon the the amount of money I
get paid I mean I guess it depends on
like how many days like this shoot is
gonna be like if I'm gonna be at the
shoot for two full days three full days
obviously the pay is gonna be more but
then again it's always like how much is
the budget it really depends on a lot of
things and I'm really I really don't
have the right to set my own rate but if
you would like to cast me in a music
video I would love to be in a music
video I love music I've done it before
and it's always fun but please contact

next I'm gonna be answering all the
Japanese questions all right so moving on to the Japanese questions
How did you become a model?
Like I mentioned before, I just applied to my agency
but my agency is a little different from others
before you sign with my agency, all the models have to take 6months of modeling lessons
walking lessons, acting lessons...basically learning every skill you need to become a model
and then whoever passes the test at the end gets signed, so that's how I got signed as well
It was all a really long process until I got signed
but I learned so much from that experience and it definitely motivated me a lot too
So I'm glad I experienced that
How old were you when you started modeling? Did you get scouted?
Umm I applied to my agency when I was 19
and I was 20 when I passed the test and signed
How often do you shoot abroad? Are you signed to multiple agencies?
At the moment I'm only signed to my 1 agency in Japan
If you've ever seen me shoot abroad it was probably a job I had to fly out for
Or just a test shoot I did while I traveled for vacation
Do you buy the magazines you've modeled in?
Usually if the magazine I did was for a job, they send it to my agency
so I get to see how it turned out
so I would take it home and display it and stuff
What is the hardest part about modeling?
The hardest part about modeling is...
probably at castings when they just take one look at you and send you home like "ok thank you you can go now"
It's pretty hurtful and discouraging that feeling
What is something you do to nail castings?
For example of the audition is for a clothing brand, I would research the brand
and I would try and dress close to that brand's image not just the clothes but hair and make up and everything
Also I try not to give the basic self introduction that the casting directors are probably tired of seeing
You know the basic, Hi my name is... I'm from which agency, and I'm ... years old
Castings directors have probably heard that a million times already, so there's no way they'll remember you
So I would try and say something funny, or speak in a loud and clear voice
Just anything so they can remember me, something that makes me stand out from the other models
I just try to be myself. If they don't like me, then that's ok
I would want them to cast me because they like me for being my authentic self
It's so important to be yourself
What do you do to stay in shape? How tall are you?
I've been really into butt workouts recently lol
I usually eat whatever I want because I get really stressed when I can't eat what I want lol
So I don't really like to slim down my meals
I believe the healthiest diet is to eat a regular amount of food to fill you up. Don't eat less than you want to
Eat your carbs, your veggies, your protein
Just make sure it's a balanced meal
Also I watch my sodium intake. I try to stay away from foods that are too salty
Oh yeah and my height. I'm not very tall. I think I'm like 165cm...?
