Youtube daily report Mar 28 2017

Some are longer than a blue whale.

Others are barely larger than a grain of sand.

One species unleashes one of the most deadly venoms on Earth.

Another holds a secret that's behind some of the greatest breakthroughs in biology.

They've inhabited the ocean for at least half a billion years,

and they're still flourishing as the sea changes around them.

Jellyfish are soft-bodied sea creatures that aren't really fish.

They're part of a diverse team of gelatinous zooplankton,

zooplankton being animals that drift in the ocean.

There are more than 1,000 species of jellyfish,

and many others that are often mistaken for them.

A noted feature of jellyfish is a translucent bell

made of a soft delicate material called mesoglea.

Sandwiched between two layers of skin,

the mesoglea is more than 95% water held together by protein fibers.

The jellyfish can contract and relax their bells to propel themselves.

They don't have a brain or a spinal cord,

but a neural net around the bell's inner margin

forms a rudimentary nervous system

that can sense the ocean's currents and the touch of other animals.

Jellyfish don't have typical digestive systems, either.

These gelatinous carnivores consume plankton and other small sea creatures

through a hole in the underside of their bells.

The nutrients are absorbed by an inner layer of cells

with waste excreted back through their mouths.

But the jellyfish's relatively simple anatomy

doesn't prevent it from having some remarkable abilities.

One kind of box jellyfish has 24 eyes.

Scientists think it can see color and form images within its simple nervous system.

Four of its eyes are curved upward on stalks.

This allows the jellyfish to peer through the surface of the water,

looking for the canopy of the mangrove trees where it feeds.

In fact, this may be one of the only creatures

with a 360-degree view of its environment.

The jellyfish's sting, which helps it capture prey and defend itself,

is its most infamous calling card.

In the jelly's epidermis,

cells called nematocysts lie coiled like poisonous harpoons.

When they're triggered by contact, they shoot with an explosive force.

It exerts over 550 times the pressure of Mike Tyson's strongest punch

to inject venom into the victim.

Some jellyfish stings barely tingle,

but others cause severe skin damage.

The venom of one box jellyfish can kill a human in under five minutes,

making it one of the most potent poisons of any animal in the world.

Other jellyfish superpowers are less lethal.

One species of jellyfish glows green when it's agitated,

mostly thanks to a biofluorescent compound called green fluorescent protein,

or GFP.

Scientists isolated the gene for GFP

and figured out how to insert it into the DNA of other cells.

There, it acts like a biochemical beacon,

marking genetic modifications,

or revealing the path of critical molecules.

Scientists have used the glow of GFP to watch cancer cells proliferate,

track the development of Alzheimer's,

and illuminate countless other biological processes.

Developing the tools and techniques from GFP

has netted three scientists a Nobel Prize in 2008,

and another three in 2014.

But it's jellyfish who may be the most successful organisms on Earth.

Ancient fossils prove that jellyfish have inhabited the seas

for at least 500 million years,

and maybe go back over 700 million.

That's longer than any other multiorgan animal.

And as other marine animals are struggling to survive

in warmer and more acidic oceans,

the jellyfish are thriving,

and perhaps getting even more numerous.

It doesn't hurt that some can lay as many as 45,000 eggs in a single night.

And there's some jellyfish whose survival strategy

almost sounds like science fiction.

When the immortal jellyfish is sick, aging, or under stress,

its struggling cells can change their identity.

The tiny bell and tentacles deteriorate

and turn into an immature polyp

that spawns brand new clones of the parent.

As far as we know, these are the only animals who found a loophole

when facing mortality.

That's pretty sophisticated for species that are 95% water

and predate the dinosaurs.

5 Tips To Look AWESOME Wearing Glasses | The BEST Eyeglasses For Men - Duration: 6:26.

When I was in middle school I was a complete dork.

I know many of you guys will argue I'm still a complete dork, but I think I've improved

a bit.

So I was in band, I was on the math team, I was skinny, I couldn't talk to girls.

And I had glasses which made me looked bad.

So in today's video gents, I imagine that I can go back in time and I give myself five

tips on how to rock glasses and look great.

So you need proof of how I bad I looked.

Okay.

I'm going to pull up a picture right here.

That is me and looked at those glasses.

I have to admit I did not like those glasses.

The story is I had to get them.

My mom bought the cheapest ones and for the few years I did wore those glasses I hated them.

So for that young Antonio, I'm creating this video.

Tip #1.

Be confident.

Own the look.

Understand that wearing glasses actually makes you look smarter.

It draws attention to the eyes.

The right type of glasses can make you more trustworthy.

There's a lot of things about glasses that are great.

They don't make you less of a person.

I have to admit.

When I was wearing I didn't like them at all.

They were the cheapest frames.

I didn't have any choice of the matter and I just did not like them.

They didn't work for me.

So, I wasn't confident.

But if I can tell myself anything, you know just own what you got and don't be ashamed

to wear glasses.

Tip # 2.

Find the right frame for your face.

So this was something I never knew.

We simply went with the cheapest ones.

In the military they called these birth control glasses and yes that is what we actually called

them and there was a reason because they were ugly.

They were thick.

It was the same for everybody.

There was no choice.

Look at yourself in the mirror.

Understand that you've got a face shape.

Identify that face shape then find the right frame types which are going to bring balance

to your face.

Now I'm going to pull up a whole chart right here.

This chart I'm going to link to down in the description so you can go check it out but

find your face shape.

Find the glasses that work for you.

Boom.

It's emerging.

Understand that one face shape doesn't have just one particular glasses.

There are definitely going to be a few that you can go with.

Tip #3.

I will tell myself to build that time machine go into the future and buy my glasses online.

Because when I bought my glasses we had to go to the only outlet that we know of there

in midland Texas that would accept our partial insurance and we still have to pay an arm

and a leg for those glasses.

They were super expensive.

Guys, there are now so many more options if you look online.

Some of these options they're going to save you like 70%.

Speaking of which glassesusa.com, guys, they are the paid sponsor of this video and I've

been with this company for over a year and a half.

I have them sent me some frames out here in Ukraine.

I had them sent them out to me in Wisconsin.

Guys, good company at a great price.

Let me go ahead and pull up their website.

So the thing I loved about glassesusa.com is their one mission to change the way people

purchase classes by sticking with one simple belief and that's eyewear shouldn't break

the bank.

Now let's look at their frame selection.

Glassesusa.com offers over 2500 styles.

We're talking name brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley, Tom Ford or Armani.

Also the quality, the lenses that are offered by glassesusa.com are at the same high quality

as retail.

Now they're virtual mirror.

I've created an entire video where I walk you through glassesusa.com their virtual mirror

tool and you can try on any pair of frames and see what they actually looked like on you.

You upload your picture and boom you're able to see it.

Also its risk free shopping.

So we're talking 100% money back guarantee, full refund within 14 days delivery, no questions

asked, 24/7 support.

Gentleman, most of all, it's about savings.

I mean I really member this.

My mom writing that check and her just like hammer it like hey you do not break this,

do not lose this cause this just cost us a whole lot of money.

And when you can find a website, when you can find a company that you can work with and

actually delivers you a great deal and that's their main mission.

I love to support them and definitely go check them out.

Down in the description of this video I'm going to put a link over to them with a special

code.

Tip #4.

Consider having a few frames and actually having them kind of as an accessory and having

backups.

So a lot of times people go with one particular color and frame.

Okay.

That's what they go with. Boom.

This is what they have.

Imagine if you would decide hey I want to go ahead and purchase two to three frames,

maybe go with this right here body in red, body in yellow.

There's a guy named Seth Godin.

I've seen him just owned the look of yellow and red frames and I loved it.

A lot of women do this but men can pull this off as well especially if you're in a creative

field.

But maybe you want to try something like a half frame or a partial frame.

You want to try something hey it's a little bit smaller, maybe even have some color on

the side.

The point is don't be afraid to again going back to point #1 own it, be confident, and

try different colors, try different styles and find what works for you.

Tip #5.

I will tell myself protect those glasses.

Just simply just take care of them.

Get a case.

We didn't opt for a case.

So I can tell you what happened to those glasses is they ended up getting scratched and within

a few months I had some scratches on the lens and I had those things for two years and the

scratches built up.

I swear by the time I got rid of those classes, it looked so bad but we had to make do.

Guys, get a good case which glassesusa.com sends you a very nice case.

This one case with a pair of Ray-Bans that they sent me.

Also, gentleman, use a cloth that's specific designed to clean your glasses.

You don't want to use something like your shirt or something that's harsh that's going

to end up scratching the lenses.

Alright, gentleman, so now it's your turn.

I want to hear from you down the comments.

Let me know about your stories about glasses.

Do you prefer glasses?

Do you prefer contacts?

Do you have any good stories about wearing glasses, getting compliments, looking smarter,

feeling better about yourself?

I love to hear from you guys.

I love to learn from you and go check out the sponsor glassesusa.com.

I'm going to link to them down the description.

That's it, gents.

Take care.

See you in the next video.

Rachel Dolezal: VICE News Tonight on HBO (Full Segment) - Duration: 6:16.

Rachel Dolezal used to run the Spokane, Washington chapter of the NAACP,

the legendary civil rights group chartered to support black Americans.

But Dolezal isn't black—she just identifies as black.

— Are you African-American?

— I don't understand the question.

— Are your parents… are they white?

— And when that fact emerged in 2015, she lost her job and got famous…

…as a national laughingstock.

Dolezal has legally changed her name to Nkechi Amare Diallo.

But she's using the name that made her famous to to publish her new memoir, "In Full Color."

Dexter Thomas went to Spokane to meet her.

— Yeah, I think he's a little too radical.

Martin Luther King has been so sanitized, that...

some people don't even know that he has anything else that's radical.

— Since the controversy,

Rachel Dolezal has been spending her time at home in Spokane, Washington, trying to rebuild her life.

Now, she's hoping to tell her side of the story through her new book.

— What's the point of the book, would you say?

— I really wanted to set the record straight, you know?

Settle things that have been misconstrued about my life,

and document my personal journey and how things fit together for my sons.

— I know you're aware of this,

but there's a lot of black people who feel like what you're doing is selfish.

— Mhm.

— I mean, it's almost like...

if you got voted off the island, shouldn't you just go?

— Did I get voted off an island?

— You tell me.

— It's kind-of a manufactured frenzy and controversy that got stirred up in 2015, right?

By white media, the white parents, the white police, you know?

Like, those are the people who instigated that controversy.

— So, basically, you're saying this is... basically…

black people being mad at you is a white conspiracy?

— Based off of a white narrative about me, yes.

— In her book, Rachel Dolezal puts a lot of the blame for society's view of her on her family.

Two years ago, she was preparing to sue her brother Joshua Dolezal,

for allegedly molesting her younger adopted sister.

According to criminal charges, the victim claimed the abuse occurred over multiple years,

and included forcing her to perform oral sex on him.

But then, her parents appeared on TV:

— It's Rachel creating her own reality.

— It was just completely heartbreaking that that case actually got shut down,

because they went on a whole national media circuit with CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox News.

They did every major network and my credibility was shot.

— So the case got dropped? — The case got dropped.

— So basically what you're saying is, your parents…?

— Saved their oldest white son from being locked up as a child molester.

And, from their actions, a young black woman suffered.

I mean, that was, like, the tragedy that nobody saw.

— The charges against Joshua Dolezal were dropped by the prosecutors in 2015.

When reached by VICE News for comment, Dolezal said that,

"The lies my sister tells about me and my family are obscene,"

and that, "Celebrity is still her goal, not social justice."

— I'm hoping that, with the release of the book and getting my true story out there,

I'm able to rebuild enough credibility to where we can get that case, you know, brought back.

— Rachel Dolezal is also hoping that her memoir, "In Full Color,"

will start a conversation about how we think about race in America.

— You know, what is "whiteness," or "blackness," or, you know, what does it mean to fall in between?

Or in what ways are we who we are?

I'm not part of that owning, praising, living whiteness.

Like, that's just not... that's not me.

— I mean, being able to distance yourself from that… is kind of a privilege, right?

Being able to say, "You know what? I don't want anything to do with the whiteness."

— Distancing yourself from privilege is privilege?

— When the police show up, I can't say,

"Woah, woah, woah. Just so you know—I'm not black."

"I'm actually white." It doesn't work that way.

— Part of me wonders, I mean, are people actually saying, "You have privilege and you've been privileged"?

Or are people more interested in just calling me white?

— Dolezal says that because of all the negative press, she's been having trouble getting a job.

So a lot of her income comes from a side hustle she's had for a long time:

doing black hair.

She says she's one of the few people in Spokane who can do black hair, and she still has loyal clients.

She's also selling her artwork, which is something else she's been doing since she was young.

But recently, she's having trouble doing that, too.

— This is kind-of all pieces of recycled magazine paper.

Right now, I'm pretty broke, so I can't afford a lot of paints.

— She hopes her art can serve as a medium for people to better understand her and her identity.

— So the concept here is saying, like, "I don't care what color Rachel is,"

"I don't care if she is blue, or purple, or green."

"Like, I just care about the work that she did." Of course, nobody's blue or purple or green,

but I painted these like, I'm still me in every single piece.

— Dolezal is launching her book tour in South Africa.

She says the climate there is more receptive to the ideas of racial fluidity and self-identification.

— Some of the freedom fighters there from the Mandela era are working for a non-racial South African society.

They're bringing me down there because they're just like, "We wanna have this conversation."

— And do you think we're ready to do that here too?

— People just are, you know, not ready to progress and evolve and move forward on the issue of race,

and I think part of what's holding that up is there's still this sense of, like, a score needs to be settled.

You know, we still haven't had reparations,

we still haven't had, like, this Healing, Truth and Reconciliation kind of stuff.

— If we had reparations, would you be getting a check?

— No, I'm not—I don't...

I don't actually identify as African-American.

I identify as black.

Like, would somebody who moved here from Nigeria get a check? No.

There's a Pan-African diaspora, so I'm part of the "pan."

We all go back to Africa.

We all have a black mother, eventually.

Warriors of Hula - Duration: 3:21.

(drums tapping)

- I think a lot of people look at hula as just women dancing

but, um, we love it, man.

(drum tapping)

Hula is a story.

To tell the story the way the ancient Hawaiians did,

you really need to put yourself in that dance.

You need to live like them.

You need to chant like them.

(chanting in Hawaiian)

You need to train like them.

Basically you need to become them.

(drums tapping)

(singer chanting)

Halau is a hula school.

We perform all over the world.

(chanting in Hawaiian)

In ancient times, warriors were actually recruited

from the halau.

The chief would come to look

and from the ranks of the advanced male dancers,

warriors were selected.

The philosophy of our halau is to kind of replicate that.

- For male hula, we're basically telling warrior stories.

And to dance like a warrior,

you need to train like a warrior.

(waves splashing)

We train in a private piece of land on the west side of Oahu

using only what ancient Hawaiians had.

Whether it's rocks, the sand, the ocean.

When we come to practice, we expect to die.

It's strenuous on the legs, but it's also to train your mind.

I tell myself and the rest of the boys,

"If I fall, it's because my body just gave out."

One of the hardest workouts we do

would be climbing the coconut tree.

Sometimes you reach the top and your legs are shaking

because, you know, you're holding your weight.

And to look down knowing that nothing's holding you

you've got to kind of have this warrior mindset

as like, you know, that this is what I want, you know.

I'm going to get this.

- You know, when these gentlemen come to hula,

they are like a ball of clay.

As kumu, I look at it as my responsibility

to shape them into better individuals,

better fathers, better sons, better brothers.

Our goal is that when these men are done dancing

that they leave here better people.

(waves splashing)

- What hula does for me culturally,

it still takes me back to how Hawaii used to be.

People sometimes are losing that aloha for each other,

that love for each other and hula just gives you

that reality check, man.

I'm dancing until my kneecaps fall off.

And even after that

I'm going to do whatever I can for the halau.

You know, we have this brotherhood

where we take care of each other.

We help push each other.

It's my passion and I look forward

to seeing where hula takes me in life.

Why I prefer Polish Women - Q&A 2 [Kult America] - Duration: 11:06.

Over the past year of filming Kult America we met many fascinating people

and traveled to many fascinating places.

However one thing we have failed to do was thoroughly respond to your curious questions.

So on today's episode we will do just that, in an old fashion YouTube Q&A.

Can you please tell me what it takes to move to Poland?

In my case I donated 99% of my stuff to a homeless shelter in Chicago,

I took one bag with my computer, my camera, a little bit of stuff,

and I got in an airplane and I didn't come back.

I didn't exactly planned to live here forever.

Although that's probably what the outcome will be,

I just went for it.

What I would recommend is that one - you start learning the polish language, this is essential,

I think if you're not interested in learning the language, or culture, you should not come here.

And two - arrive with an open mind and be prepared to reinvent the way that you go about your life.

But the most important point is that you have to get on an airplane and actually come here.

Which country has the best food?

Be honest.

Generally speaking, I appreciate all food and the culture that it represents,

but Turkey really really made a crazy impression on me.

Are there going to be turkish subtitles?

Congratulations from Turkey.

I am very happy to tell you that a turkish viewer has been helping us and creating subtitles,

however he's busy and sometimes the subtitles arrive a little bit after the release of the video.

Also if you're feeling impatient, if you know how to speak English and you're from Turkey,

and you want to help us out, get in touch

because the more subtitles we have on this channel, the better.

Do you have any favourite YouTube channels?

My favourite YouTube channel is called Adam the Woo, and he does video adventures

and he films it in a totally crude way, the guy literally just uses his iPhone

to wander around America and give you an update on his life

and the places that he's seeing.

What I love so much about it is that there's no narcissism in his videos,

it's just honest, true reports from his travel.

Who would you like to make a collaboration with on YouTube?

One of my biggest inspirations here locally in Poland is Włodek Markowicz,

I've had the pleasure to speak some one-on-one time with him, I consider him a friend, in fact.

Maybe somehow, someway, I convince him to go on a little video adventure with me,

but I wouldn't hold my breath on that, because I think that Włodek's favorite word is "no".

Włodek, if you see this feel free to prove me wrong.

Is there anything you hate about Poland?

The reason I don't like to respond to this question publicly

is because even if I pay massive taxes here and I'm a citizen of the country

and have a Polish family now,

I still consider myself to be, honorary, a guest.

I decided to start a family here and a life

so for that reason it really seems wrong to publicly criticize my host.

The thing I don't like in Poland is racism, or close-mindedness,

and that's absolutely not to suggest that most polish people are racist or close minded,

it's just that I've known people from other cultures, who have started their life in Poland

and have battled horrifically with being stereotyped and being held back

in society because of the country that they are from.

Next question.

Man, I miss "Przeżyj to" series, will you ever continue making them?

The simple answer to that is no, "Przeżyj to" was awesome, but between my business,

my two kids, my wife, and then making Kult America of course,

there's just no room to include that show.

How was your first day in Poland?

The first time I've ever visited Poland was the year of 2000 and it was the spring,

I don't remember the exact day I came here by bus from London.

And the first sight that I vividly remember was outside of the city of Katowice.

I saw nothing but yellow fields of flowers and these big, imposing communist-built blocks.

So I felt terrified actually, because I didn't speak the language,

I didn't know where I was going.

On the other hand, I knew that I was in a mysterious place,

that I wanted to learn more about.

And here we are, what, 16 years later?

Would you do the video about learning the language itself?

I think people would be interested in how you learned and how long it took you.

That's really true, lot of people write me and ask

how can they learn Polish and what they can do.

The truth is that by now I am pretty much fluent, I have problems with grammar,

and pronunciation in Polish.

I don't speak Polish publicly anymore, but I guess you can understand why I don't want to do it,

I feel like I have so much more to say to a person in English.

Polish people speak English so much better than I speak Polish,

that in a sense to really get across ideas in a genuine way I have to speak my own language.

So the man who edits these videos doesn't speak English and any issue we have,

or plan that we make has to be made in Polish, so in my professional life, my private life,

I speak Polish regularly, but publicly, for you, I prefer to avoid doing it

because I want to keep some kind of dignity, that I'm not able to have

when I'm speaking the language which is not my own.

But if you ever meet me on the street, feel free to speak Polish, you know?

That's fun for me.

Because I just love Polish language.

But let's go back to English.

Why did you name your channel Kult America?

Because Kult is also a famous polish band.

That is true.

The band Kult is very famous and they're really cool, I really had the honor

of doing an interview with their singer years ago, but that wasn't my inspiration for the name

of this channel, I had actually thought the name of the channel about four year ago,

when I was walking through Pole Mokotowskie in Warsaw

and I imagined how my community of people, I mean people who really get me

and understand who I am is small and interconnected, almost of like a little cult.

Jokingly, of course.

And I thought it would be really interesting to make a YouTube channel with the perspective

of myself and the people who I associate with.

And why did I add America to it?

And I've been waiting a long time to answer this.

I did that in a very very sarcastic manner, in fact.

When I wear the american flag t-shirt, I do this in a very ironic way,

like I'm a stereotypical american I'm almost kind of making fun of the way

that I'm perceived by many people who initially hear about me.

The truth is that I don't honestly define myself by any flag or patriotic symbols.

I identify myself by trying my best to be a good person and

learn about the world around me in the most honest way possible.

So when you see these plays on patriotism, I'm actually being sarcastic.

What kind of camera do you use?

That's actually a question for Maciek.

We always try to use different cameras, to have a little bit of diversity.

When we need a slow-mo, we use Lumix GH4,

when we need a light frame, we use Sony Alpha 7S

and sometimes we use Canon 5D Mark 3.

So as you see, there are lots of cameras.

Włodek Markowicz actually suggested you to use Sony RX100, a tiny camera, very handy,

and it actually does magic.

What is the thing that polish girls have that american girls don't?

I think that it's pretty much universally accepted, that polish women are special.

It seems to me that mass abundance of polish women are able to maintain a family, I mean,

let's be honest, in a way be a housewife and esteller profesional at the same time.

And I don't even understand how this is possible,

and I'm not saying that you won't find a woman like this in America as well,

but I really admire the sheer ambition of polish women.

I think it's very attractive.

What is the country that you would like to visit?

We are actually working on a plan to go the DMZ.

I'm also planning to visit maybe Lithuania and we will go back to the Czech Republic and Slovakia,

because we've seen massive support from people there.

I want to make a video called "Where my ancestors walked?",

go see the village in Romania, where my great grandfather was born, maybe meet some people.

As much as we can, we will be traveling around, I don't put any limits on it.

How much time does it take you to make one episode?

Sometimes it takes 30 minutes like this one that we're filming today, other time it takes three days.

And the last question - have you ever been in trouble in Poland because of your nationality?

No, I think that my nationality has mostly worked to my advantage.

There was some unpleasant situations, one of our neighbours had a conflict with the guy

who I work with and when I intervened, he heard my accent and he asked "Where are you from?"

So the U.S.

And he's like "Oh, okay. Well that would explain why you are so limited."

So thank you so much for watching this Q&A.

If you have questions for me, or about the program or places we've been,

please feel free to write me in a comment section or email me on Facebook.

Thank you so much for watching Kult America and I will see you next week.

VA Overpaid Thousands of Veterans: VICE News Tonight on HBO - Duration: 2:37.

Last year, the Department of Defense came under intense criticism

for demanding that nearly 10,000 California National Guard soldiers return their enlistment bonuses,

which the Pentagon said it had paid by accident.

Now, a VICE News investigation has uncovered a separate accounting debacle:

the Department of Veterans Affairs says it gave tens of thousands of vets too much money in benefits,

and it's demanding that they pay up.

Josh Hersh explains.

— In June of last year, Tad Steckler got a letter in the mail.

It told him he owed the VA more than $10,000.

He'd been overpaid in benefits, it said, but didn't tell him when, or how.

Two months later, he got another letter that told him his debt had actually been miscalculated,

and now he owed the agency $21,000.

The next month, his entire disability compensation check was withheld.

It turns out Steckler wasn't alone.

The VA sent more than 186,000 of these letters last year,

telling veterans that they owed money to the government.

The number of these letters sent out by the agency each year has nearly tripled since 2013.

But these debts don't make sense to some veterans,

who argue that the VA hasn't provided them with enough information

to determine whether they actually were overpaid, or if the VA created the debt in error.

They also say the VA's process for appealing these debts is a bureaucratic mess

and that it's been virtually impossible to get answers before the VA starts withholding funds.

— I served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer specializing in explosive demolition.

When I got the first letter, I was honestly in shock.

I thought it was just one big mistake.

Once we got notified of the debt,

every single officer or individual we have spoken to

has yet to give us a full accountability of who, what, why, when, and where.

— A couple years ago, the VA took a lot of heat for their backlog in processing claims.

Now, they say their efforts to reduce that backlog

is one of the reasons they've suddenly turned up so many overpayments:

In processing the claims, they took another look at the data, and noticed discrepancies.

Essentially, in trying to solve the problem of a backlog, it created a new one.

The VA wouldn't tell us how much the average veteran currently owes, for example.

But they did tell us there's no limit to how much they can ask a vet to repay,

and no limit on how far back they're willing to go back to collect an overpayment from a veteran.

Right After FAILING Health Care, Paul Ryan Just Stabbed Trump In The Back AGAIN!

By Danny Gold

I think it has become VERY clear at this point that Congressman Paul Ryan is NOT on the side

of President Trump or the American people.

First Donald Trump asked Ryan to simply get Obamacare repealed and replaced.

After 7 years of talking about it, it should have been easy.

Right?

WRONG!

Then Speaker Ryan had the nerve to come out and tell Republicans Obamacare is the law-of-the-land

and will NOT be going away.

LOSER!

Now Donald Trump is trying to keep up the momentum and move on to tax reform.

TAX REFORM!

We have a Republican House, Senate, and White House.

For Gods sake, we can get Tax Reform, right?

Well, not according to Paul Ryan, who said,

This does make tax reform more difficult.

But it does not in any way make it impossible.

Wow!

Is this really the leadership of the Republican Party?

No wonder they have been LOSING for so long.

Ryan of all people should be optimistic and busy rallying the troops.

This is just PITIFUL!

We picked President Trump because we wanted a WINNER.

Now we see that to REALLY win, we also need to kick out all the LOSERS in the GOP who

are holding us back.

So help take these dead weights on our party down with Shares all across the internet.

2018 is the year we TAKE THEM DOWN!

I always think of this scene.

This is the scene I was telling you with the door.

The-- - Oh my god.

We don't have to show this scene.

Glug, glug.

Woo-hoo.

Come on, sweetie.

What if Booth's right?

What if I'm good with bones, and lousy with people?

People like you.

I don't care if men like me.

OK.

Interesting leap from people to men,

but I'm sure it means nothing.

I hate psychology.

[inaudible]

It's awesome.

--are with dead people.

Who said that?

It's true.

I understand Cleo, and her bones are all I've ever seen.

When she was seven, she broke her wrists,

probably falling off a bike.

And two weeks later, before the cast was even moved,

she got right back on the bike and broke it all over again.

It's cute.

--she fought back hard, even though she was so depressed,

she could hardly get up in the morning.

She didn't welcome death.

Cleo wanted to live.

Honey, you ever think--

You're both so good.

--come off a little distance because you connect too much?

I hate psychology.

It's a soft science.

I know, but--

He made me do the arm thing, I remember that.

It's cute, though.

It works.

Except for their bones.

Yeah.

With all your bracelets.

Oh my god.

You want some advice?

Glug, glug, woo-hoo.

(LAUGHS).

OK.

It's so good.

It really is.

Tell somebody something you're not completely

certain you want them to know.

Oh god.

That's the second time I've received that advice.

Well, you know I give great advice.

Yay.

--push this to the next level.

I made her [inaudible] that line.

That was nice.

Oh my gosh, that was one of my audition scenes.

That was the second audition scene.

But I'd actually met Emily before we started the show.

We were at an audition together.

And we had never met.

This was like three months before the pilot

shot maybe [inaudible].

And she was sitting across from me.

And she smiled at me, like, completely apropos of nothing.

And I was like, oh, that girl is so nice.

And we were, like-- you know, we got

into some kind of conversation.

I can't remember, there was another person in the room.

And I looked at the call sheet, because I was like, oh,

that person was so nice.

And it was Emily Deschanel.

And then I got cast.

And then she was cast next.

And I remember asking my agent who they cast.

And they said, oh, they has this new actress.

She's coming from features.

Her name's Emily Deschanel.

And it was just such a funny moment of being like,

what, that's so weird.

I just looked her up.

That's such a funny moment.

But I mean other than not really fully

being able to watch that scene because of hair and bracelets

where that scene takes place.

And the guy playing the guy who runs Sanders and Chemical

was a guy named Sam Anderson.

So I didn't have any dialogue in that scene.

It was just me watching him.

But he, David, had a scene with Sam Anderson, who's

playing Sanders and Chemical.

So I'm riding in the van.

And no one knows that I'm in the scene.

Ian doesn't realize I'm in the scene yet.

[inaudible] was the producing director.

And David doesn't realize I'm in the scene.

So I'm riding in the back of this van.

And David's in there kind of going--

you know, he's-- hey, good morning,

how are you, nice to see you.

And he's thinking, god, this guy is probably a little bit young.

And then I show up and see David take a beeline to Ian.

And they're sitting there going, oh, you know.

They think they've cast the wrong guy.

They're like wait, this is not Sam Anderson.

Who's the guy you're talking about?

And then Ian comes around the corner.

He's like, oh, yeah, we know who you are.

OK, yeah.

It was great story of my first day of work.

The First Law of Thermodynamics: Internal Energy, Heat, and Work - Duration: 5:44.

Professor Dave here, let's discuss the

first law of thermodynamics.

The first law of thermodynamics, popularly

known as the law of energy conservation,

when examined more rigorously actually

outlines the relationship between

internal energy, work, and heat, which from

now on will be represented by the letter Q.

The law can be stated as an equation

where Delta U equals Q minus W.

This means that the change in the internal

energy of a system will be equal to the

energy transferred to or from the system

as heat minus the energy transferred to

or from the system as work, and all of

these quantities will be measured in

joules. Because of this law, we can

outline a few different types of

processes that can occur. If a process

occurs where there is no change in

volume for the system, that means that no

pressure-volume work can be done on or

by the system, so work is zero in such a

case. Delta U equals Q and any change in

internal energy must be the result of

heat transfer in or out. This will be

called an isovolumetric process, meaning

no change in volume. An example would be

a bomb calorimeter where a combustion

reaction produces a change in

temperature but the rigid walls results

in no change in volume. If there is no

change in the temperature of the system

there cannot have been any change in the

internal energy of the system, since

these two values are proportional. Delta

U will be zero which makes Q equal to W.

This means that any heat transferred

into the system is used by the system to

do work rather than increasing the

internal energy of a system. This is

called an isothermal process, meaning no

change in temperature. An ideal version

of a car engine would be an example of

this as the pistons ought to convert all

of the heat energy from the combustion

reaction directly into expansion

work that moves the car. If there is no

heat transferred, Q will be 0 and Delta U

will equal negative W. This means that

the internal energy of a system changes

as a result of doing work on its

surroundings or the surroundings doing

work upon the system. Such a process will

be called an adiabatic process, meaning

no heat transfer. We can see this in

certain processes in Earth's atmosphere

as masses of air change position due to

pressure differences. And if Q and W are

both zero, meaning there is no heat

transfer and no work done, there can be

no change in internal energy and this

must be an isolated system. Hopefully

these scenarios make some intuitive

sense because we will frequently use

this equation to do calculations. We will

also need to define the signs of these

quantities in order to use this equation

properly so let's note that when heat is

absorbed by the system, Q will be

positive. If heat is lost by the system, Q

will be negative. If work is done by the

system, like an expanding gas, W will be

positive. If work is done on the system

by the surroundings, like gas compression,

W will be negative. If there is no

transfer of heat or no work done these

values can also equal 0 as we have

previously discussed. When doing

calculations make sure that you use the

correct signs for these values or the

math will be incorrect. For example, if

100 joules of compression work is done

on a system and as a result the internal

energy of the system increases by 74

joules, how much of the energy is

transferred as heat and in which

direction? Let's take our equation and

rearrange to solve for Q, which will be

Delta U plus W, then we can plug in

positive 74 joules for Delta U, since

internal energy increases, and negative

100 joules for work since work is being

done on the system, and we should get

negative 26 joules for heat. This means

that as 100 joules of work is applied to

the system,

only 74 go towards increasing the

internal energy of the system while 26

joules are lost as heat dissipates out

of the system. These kinds of

calculations will happen a lot in

thermodynamics so let's check comprehension.

What Makes A Dinosaur? - Duration: 2:26.

This is not a dinosaur.

But it used to be.

For centuries, as we tried to make sense of the diversity of life on earth, we created

animal families according to looks alone.

And dinosaurs were basically anything that was big and scary and scaly and dead.

But that doesn't actually make a lot of sense.

It's a lot like, if you looked at all of humanity and assumed all the Conan O'Brien

look-alikes belonged in one family, and bearded people in another, and people with bad posture

in another, and everyone with unibrows in another.

Not only would you have to make ridiculous decisions along the way, like what to do with

Conan O'Brien look-alikes with unibrows, but perhaps one of the people with bad posture

actually has more in common with the bearded people than the rest of the bad posture family.

You'd end up with families that aren't families, and that's why we draw our human

family trees according to actual relationships, like parents and grandparents and brothers

and sisters.

Evidence from fossils and DNA have shown us that all living things are linked, and that

we can create animal families by finding their most recent common ancestors.

So despite the fact that whales have fins, they're more closely related to hippos than

to fish.

And even though sloths are long-armed and hairy and climb trees, their cousins are anteaters

and armadillos.

And the big, scary, scaly, dead group of animals belong to several different families.

Some – the group we now call dinosaurs – belong to a branch that includes modern-day birds;

others share family ties with today's snakes; and we can trace our own family trees back

to our great-great-great-great aunt, the dimetrodon.

Speaking of ancestry, I just got my personal genetic reports back from 23andMe – a personal

genetics analysis company that was kind enough to sent me a kit and sponsor this video.

Not surprisingly, I learned that my ancestry is almost completely Northwestern European

and I carry a ginger genetic variant in my MC1R gene.

But it was totally crazy to learn that I have more Neanderthal DNA variants than 92 percent

Bill Gates and Ed Yong Talk About Microbes - Duration: 2:31.

Well, at the foundation where we work on infectious disease,

there'll be meetings where people say, "Oh, did gut bacteria affect this? Or there's a bacteria in this insect."

And Sue, who's the CEO of the foundation found this book and came in and handed me a copy and said,

"Oh, this really shows the landscape of this amazing phenomenon

of how microbes are such a key part of all life forms."

That's right. So I went to this germ-free facility where they raise mice in these sterile bubbles.

Those mice do not contain multitudes. They've never seen bacteria in their lives.

And because of that their bodies did unexpected things

like their bones and their blood vessels don't develop in the right way

if they don't encounter the right microbial signals.

One thing we work on you describe is this idea that Wolbachia lives inside insects.

And in the case of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito can actually reduce its ability to be disease-carrying.

The idea that we might be able to control all these diseases

by implanting Wolbachia into the Aedes Aegypti mosquito just blows my mind.

And Wolbachia when it was first discovered was ignored.

It took a lot of time before people realized that it had the potential

to influence human health in such a positive way.

The microbiome is very much like that. Long ignored and now only recently appreciated.

I think the last place I would have expected any microbiome connection

is a neurological disease like Parkinson's.

There's so many interesting links between the microbiome and the gut and brain and behavior.

I think the microbiome provides this connective tissue that links all of our organ systems together

and it influences the way we think; the way we behave.

The idea of organisms that are microscopic changing the way we think feels kind of deeply unsettling.

And yet, there it is.

The fact that it stays under control,

I find it amazing how complex the microbiome is and would not have expected this.

Yeah, absolutely.

And that's the kind of grander view of life that I wanted to get across in the book.

That, you know, with you and I sitting here as two individuals, but actually we're two entire worlds.

Hey, thanks Ed, it's great to have you here.

Thank you for having me. It's been fantastic.

Airsoft - ASG/KWC - Dan Wesson Valor [ENG sub] - Duration: 11:43.

Hi everyone welcome to the Lair

today for a new overview

it deals with ASG new Dan Wesson Valor

this BB gun was released a few weeks ago

the box is quite explicit, it is distributed by ASG

and used the Dan Wesson licence

but we can already identify a 1911 from KWC factory

let's check what's in the box

the users' manual

as usual, there's no parts list...

this is a co²-powered gun, they explain how to install the co² tank

and here are some available accessories

a small sachet of BBs, an Allen key to install the co² tank

and that's it

here is the replica

Dan Wesson is part of CZ USA, so CZ company

thanks a lot to Julien from ASG who's sent me this gun so I could show it to you

the retail price is around 139€

but you can find it cheaper in some shops

as Cybergun did, ASG chose to work with KWC to build this Dan Wesson Valor

that's not bad because now KWC is used to making 1911s

the main difficulty is to chose the proper parts to assemble

here is the co² magazine

it can hold up to 14 BBs

the tank is inserted by the side

the gun has an aluminium finish

a bit grainy

I don't know if they sand-blasted the parts or if the texture comes from the paint

I'll rant, Julien and ASG won't be happy

I must say that releasing a Dan Wesson is a good idea

airsoft players usually know Dan Wesson because of their revolvers

but they mostly make pistols

they propose many different models, with different calibres

and they claim that their 1911s are the best ones in the industry

of course they won't tell us that they sell crap!

but here, if you look from far away, you see a Dan Wesson Valor

but getting closer it is not really the case

the marking here is correct but not engraved

but the real gun doesn't have these Dan Wesson markings

I guess ASG has to mention the brand, otherwise many players won't buy the gun

another Dan Wesson logo on the other side

and on the frame there are airsoft markings

but no original Dan Wesson serial number nor markings

I told you that I was going to rant

because it looks like a Dan Wesson Valor

but the grips are the ones from the Valor Commander

the Novak-like sights are not the proper ones

they are used on the Razorback series

there are no serrations on the slide of the Valor

but there are on the Pointman series

last thing here, the thumb safety

which is perfectly functional

is not the proper type

the Dan Wesson Valor uses a longer thumb safety

so I really wonder why ASG decided to assemble those parts

if they wanted to release a proper replica of the Dan Wesson Valor

KWC has got the proper slide, the proper safety

I suppose they could make proper sights as well

especially with ASG and Dan Wesson's help

I won't talk much about the grips because this is something you can easily change

even if it appears that on Dan Wesson's website, the Valor isn't sold with these panels

I'm confident about the reliability and the performances of this gun because KWC know how to make those

if you have any problem there's a warranty

please contact your favourite shop

they can replace the gun or have it repaired

but I'm a bit disappointed because with this combination of parts, this is not really a Dan Wesson Valor

of course most players won't mind and will buy this gun because it is nice looking

1911s fans will jump on this

stripping the gun is really easy

remove the slide catch

and that's it

exactly the same thing as other KWC 1911s

the recoil spring and spring guide here

the inner guide

then the barrel bushing

now I can remove the barrel

here is the hop-up adjusting wheel

and the nozzle here

it lacks lubrication

don't hesitate to clean and lubricate your gun right out of the box

I'll put it back together

very quick if a camera doesn't get in the way

I'm struggling a little bit

I'll put a co² tank inside the magazine

I usually wear gloves and eye protections when manipulating co² cartridges

because co² burns

now I'm good to go

massive recoil !

similar to other KWC 1911s

some people wanted to know if ASG used the same color as on the railguns and MkIV

not at all

it is clearer

and here the slide is polished

two different finish here

I won't linger on this gun

because many players know about KWC models

the finish is really nice

it'll please 1911 lovers

as you could see the barrel has a stainless finish

so what did ASG wanted to do with this gun ?

did they want to release a gun vaguely similar to a Dan Wesson Valor

or did they plan on selling a real weapon replica ?

because to me, THIS is NOT a Dan Wesson Valor replica

it is nice though, you can bring it on the field and play

provided the power isn't too high

but it is the child of the Valor, the Valor Commander, the Razorback and the Pointman series

maybe they wanted to honor Dan Wesson here :)

so if you fancy good-looking 1911s, go for it !

but if you're a fan of real Dan Wesson firearms, you may be disappointed with this Dan Wesson Valor

once again I'll receive messages as "well, we give you stuff and you say it's not good"

I didn't say it was not good

but to me, this is not a Dan Wesson Valor

especially when you know that KWC CAN do it properly ^^

I've been saying Dan Vesson Valor a looooot !

don't hesitate to comment and write what you think about this gun

did you buy it , Are you happy with it ?

if you liked the video, thumb up, if not, thumb down !

I'll go and shoot the gun

I'll be back soon with the complete review on the new blog, the one on Wordpress, not canalblog

Are Indulgences Biblical? - Duration: 2:34.

Paragraph 1471 of the Catechism defines an

indulgence as "a remission before God of

the temporal punishment due to sins whose

guilt has already been forgiven."

This presupposes that punishment remains after

God has forgiven our sins and that we can

do something to satisfy it.

But is this biblical?

I think it is.

The Bible is full of examples of God remitting

the eternal punishment due to sin while still

willing the temporal consequences.

For example, David is forgiven of his sin in

2 Samuel 12:13-18, but must suffer the death of his son.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 99:7-8 that God

forgives, but avenges wrongdoing.

Even Jesus teaches in Luke 12:47-48 that the

servant who did what is deserving of punishment

without full knowledge will be punished,

but in lesser degree.

It is such temporal consequences

that indulgences remit.

By virtue of its authority to bind and loose,

the Church declares certain acts to be of

such value that, if they are performed under

certain prescribed conditions, sin's temporal

consequences can be remitted, either partially or fully.

It is no different than Jesus' teaching

in Luke 11:41, "give alms…and behold,

everything is clean for you."

The Church grants indulgences to help its

children heed St. Paul's exhortation in

Philippians 2:12, "work out your salvation,"

and to cooperate with God in bringing to completion

the good work he has begun in us—Philippians 1:6.

So, the motifs of temporal consequences due

to sin and the Church's authority to bind

and loose make a solid biblical foundation

for the Catholic dogma of indulgences.

10 WEIRD Online Tests You Can Right Now - Duration: 11:28.

Online tests are for the most part pretty meaningless.

Even so, I'll bet most of us have taken a personality quiz at one point or another,

and who hasn't spent ten minutes of their life trying to work out when they're going

to die, how much of an 80's chick you are and which game of thrones character you'd

like to die being spooned by.

But not all online tests are like this, as some are backed by genuine psychological research,

and others….well they are just plain freaky.

So if you've ever wanted to find out how racist you are, what fetishes you and your partner

share or if you've got resting bitch face, then check out these ten weird online tests

you can take right now.

Number 10: How Racist Are You?

I like to believe that I am completely free of all bias, whether it's racial, political

or otherwise.

But sometimes I'm walking down the street and I see a Welshman and I really have to

hold myself back from kicking his stupid face off.

So I wonder, exactly how prejudiced am I?

Well thanks to the fine folks at tolerance dot org we can find out by taking their Implicit

Association Tests to quantify our unconscious biases.

Do you hate fat people?

Are you prejudiced against those of a different age, gender, sexuality or race?

Then step right up and confront your inner bigot without delay.

First I took the skin tone test, and it began by asking me to identify people as light or

dark skinned, and then say whether I thought a particular word was good or bad.

It then straight up asked me if I preferred lighter skin over dark skin, and obviously

I said no, because I love making waistcoats from the skin of every race.

But it turns out I was lying, and apparently I have an automatic preference for light skinned

over dark skinned people.

However, I then took the race test, and it told me I had no detectable prejudice.

So what do I do?

Join the KKK or sign up for a liberal arts major?

I am so confused right now.

Number 9: Are You Vengeful?

Has our last entry made you realise you're not as woke as you thought?

I bet you'd love to find out where we live and mail us some dog poop wouldn't you?

Or would you?

Have you got a taste for revenge, or are you willing to forgive and forget?

The TRIM revenge test can tell you the answer to this question better than most, as it was

developed in the late 90's by professional psychologist Michael McCullogh - unlike most

online tests, which are developed by depressed failed screenwriters working for Buzzfeed.

There are a few of these tests online, but the easiest one we found was hosted by nymag

here… http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2016/07/test-yourself-do-you-seek-out-revenge-or-avoid-your-problems.html

I took this test, and it turns out I have both a high rating for vengeance and avoidance.

So if you ever dare cross me I'll have to take my revenge at a distance, probably with

a javelin or something.

Number 8: Are You Crazy This one's a little trippy, and I'm not sure

how scientifically accurate it is, but what the hell let's try it anyway.

By viewing this video of a rotating Charlie Chaplin mask, you can apparently tell whether

or not you have schizophrenia.

https://youtu.be/QbKw0_v2clo The mask uses an optical illusion to display

a second face within the concave part of the mask, and to most people this illusion works,

appearing as if a convex face is emerging from the wrong side.

But if this illusion doesn't work on you, and the second face appears concave the whole

time, you might have schizophrenia.

Like I said, I'm not so sure of the validity of this test, but what I do know is that I

tried really really hard to see the concave mask on every single rotation.

Number 7: The Shape Test http://www.hypnoid.com/psytest2.html

Hypnoid dot com's shape test uses the Pierley Redford Dissociative Affect Diagnostic to

test your brain's affective response system, and while the results are often worded like

a crap horoscope you'd read in Cosmo, the test itself is pretty darn trippy.

Its questions revolve around the attribution of emotion to various shapes, and along the

way you'll be asked to determine which shape is insane, which shape is sinful, which shape

can hear you breathing and which shape wants to hurt you.

The test told me I'm living in a higher realm, and considering the lifestyle choices of many

of our viewers, I suspect that may be the case for some of you guys too.

Number 6: Hot or not?

Anyone else remember that early 2000's website Hot or Not?

It was and apparently still is a site where people rate each other's profile pictures

on a score out of ten.

And after you've been rated, a solid 6.9 like me might then get a few messages from people

who like what's going on in your facial regions; but these strangers may have been wrong to

validate me so, because did you know that attractiveness is not necessarily an exact

science?

Studies into the symmetry and presence of certain ratios have been used in an attempt

to quantify what makes humans attractive, but much of it is down to personal preference.

So have you ever wondered how your tastes stack up against other people?

Well now you can find out, by going to testmybrain dot org and taking their "Judging Face Attractiveness"

test.

All you have to do is rate fifty generated faces for attractiveness, tell the testers

whether you're Hispanic or Latino, and once you're done, the test will tell you how similar

your scores were to the average.

I took it and scored reasonably high, meaning that my preferences are similar to most people.

But if you scored low then don't be upset, it just means the entire world's ugmo's are

yours for the taking.

Number 5: Flea Bites Ever wonder if you've got flea bites?

I know I have, so head on over to fleabites dot net and take their "Do you have flea bites"

test.

http://www.fleabites.net/do-you-have-flea-bites-test-yourself-and-find-out/ I mean what more can I say?

If you've got an especially mangy cat or dog you'd be mad not to find out.

Number 4: Resting Bitch Face If you've uploaded a photo to Hot or Not and

everyone's told you you've got resting bitch face, then it's important you get tested.

Every day thousands of young people suffer from RBF associated ailments, but this condition

is easily cured if caught early enough.

By heading over to Noldus dot com and uploading a photograph to their Resting Bitch Face page,

their sophistamacated algorithm jiggy will analyse your expression to determine its levels

of contempt.

We tried it out with this picture of our very own Nathan posing with a monkey…

https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13669741_1775622799317812_3144796477302282825_n.jpg?oh=4bfc3228b5a6a0e1f94c7da06306bd73&oe=5971E7E6 …and while Nathan scored low due to his

altogether pleasant demeanour, the monkey was judged to be a nasty cold hearted bitch.

Number 3: Where's Your Mouth From?

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/12/20/sunday-review/dialect-quiz-map.html?_r=1& This next one is mostly for residents of the

USA, but since American culture has infected every corner of the globe then non-residents

may wanna give it a shot anyway.

This test hosted by the New York Times will tell you which region of America has most

influenced the way you talk.

Questions include "what do you call a sweetened carbonated beverage", "do you pronounce cot

and caught the same" and "how many syllables do you use in the pronunciation of caramel".

Apparently my dialect is influenced by California, Hawaii and New York, with barely anything

in between.

Go figure.

Number 2: Are You Into That?

If you're in a relationship and your sex life is getting a little boring, you might consider

introducing something new into the equation to spice things up.

Perhaps a little whipped cream, maybe some Mickey and Minnie role play, or what about

some good old fashioned Acrotomophilia.

You might need a hacksaw for that last one though.

But plucking up the courage to suggest these new and exciting activities can be pretty

tricky, especially if your partner is the kind of person who thinks doing it with the

lights on counts as kinky.

But the Mojo Upgrade test removes the possibility for embarrassment by presenting both you and

your other half with a series of common fetishes to pick from.

Should you match up on any it'll let you know, otherwise it keeps them a secret.

So if you want a little Fifty Shades action and your partner's up for that, pow, tomorrow

night's gonna be a whole lot more interesting.

And if only one of you is into dressing up as a horse while someone whips your buttocks

with a badminton racket, that piece of information will remain known only to you and your browsing

history.

Number 1: Can I hear colours?

Synaesthesia is a condition which causes some humans to experience a strange crossover of

the senses, such as the ability to associate sounds with colours, words with a certain

taste, and to feel the sensation of being touched on certain areas of the body when

a particular sound is played.

And if you've ever wondered if you have this ability you can find out by going to synesthete

dot org and taking their synaesthesia battery test.

You have to register to take the full test, but you can find out if you're likely to have

some form of synaesthesia by taking the introductory test first, which includes such wonderful

questions as "Does the name 'Derek' taste like earwax?" and is Wednesday always orange?

And that's our list.

Let us know if you took these tests and what you results were by posting in the comments

below.

And once you've done that, take a look at our recent video on five mind-bending psychological

theories…because did you know that Shia Labeouf loves Strange Mysteries?

Turn off Syntax in Output in SPSS - Duration: 1:38.

In this video I want to show you how to

remove syntax commands from your output

in SPSS, which can be nice when you're

printing your results, so you don't have

extra pages that you have to print out

because of all the syntax that's

interspersed between your different

analyses. So let me show you what I mean

here. If I run a basic analysis, like

descriptives, and let's say I'll move SAT

over here and then click OK. Notice here

I get this syntax. Now this is pretty

brief but in some analyses, more involved

analyses, you can get a lot of syntax and

it really can become quite cumbersome.

Now I am a big advocate for syntax and

it's extremely useful, a great time-saver,

and there's some analyses you can't even

run without syntax, but that doesn't mean

I necessarily want it output in my results

every single time. So let's see how to

turn that off. If you go to Edit and then

Options and then make sure Viewer is

selected, if it's not, go ahead and select it.

Notice down here at the bottom, Display

commands in the log.

I'm going to deselect that, click Apply, and

then I'll click OK. And now it put some more

syntax output here, really telling me

that it's off, but let's go ahead and

delete all of this.

Let's rerun our analysis quickly here.

Go back to Descriptives and then when I

click OK this time, there's no more

syntax in my output. So, once again, all I

did was I went to Edit, Options, and then

I turned this off here.

OK that's it. Thanks for watching.
