What Can You Learn from Your Dreams? - Duration: 4:58.

Dreaming is just really weird, when you think about it.

When you're asleep, your brain makes up these elaborate scenarios where you're leading

a herd of talking apples or riding robot llamas through the jungle or something.

And most of the time, you have no idea it isn't real.

Then when you wake up, you forget most of the dream and move on with your life.

Like, that's not strange at all.

There's a lot of research into the science of dreaming, and sleep in general, but dreams

can be especially important in psychology.

I mean, don't go reaching for those dream interpretation books or anything.

But your dreams might mean more than you think.

Even though everyone probably does it, scientists still aren't sure exactly how we dream.

It's often associated with rapid eye movement, or REM sleep, a phase of sleep where your

brain looks as active as when you're awake, but there's evidence that we dream in non-REM

sleep, too.

So we're still figuring out some of the biology involved, but psychologists do have

a few theories about how our brains use dreams.

And sorry, Sigmund Freud, but they aren't all freaky sex messages.

In fact, a lot of our dreams are pretty boring, and according to one theory, that's because

your brain uses dreams for learning and memory consolidation in a process called cognitive-level

memory reactivation.

The idea is that, while you dream, your brain reactivates the neurons it used to learn information

while you were awake.

These kinds of dreams usually happen during non-REM sleep in the beginning of the night.

For example, in a 2010 study published in Current Biology, participants practiced completing

a virtual maze, then either took a 90-minute nap or stayed awake.

During the next round of testing, those who took a nap finished faster on average than

those who didn't, but the real MVPs were the group who took a nap and dreamed about

something related to the task: They improved up to ten times more than the others.

This doesn't necessarily mean that dreaming itself gives you a better memory.

The dreams might just be a side effect of what your brain is doing — reactivating

neurons to solidify information and encode it into long-term memory.

But it might explain the more boring dreams we have.

It doesn't really explain why some of our dreams are just flat-out weird, though.

And that's where the contemporary theory of dreaming comes in.

The idea is that your dreams are mainly controlled by what emotions you're feeling, not what

you've learned lately.

If you're experiencing one really strong emotion, you'll probably have simpler dreams

— like, if you're feeling overwhelmed, you might dream you're being sucked up by

a tornado.

But if you're feeling multiple emotions, your dreams can get more complicated and random.

This theory may also help explain the relationship psychologists have seen between dreaming and

trauma, especially in those with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.

Frequent, disruptive nightmares are actually one of the potential criteria for diagnosing

someone with PTSD, with up to 96% of patients reporting nightmares related to the trauma

they experienced.

According to the contemporary theory of dreaming, people with PTSD have nightmares because dreaming

can help us resolve traumatic emotions.

By processing them in our sleep, the memories might feel less painful when we're awake.

That's what the brain is trying to do, at least.

It's not always successful, which is why PTSD often doesn't just go away on its own.

There's also another theory, the threat simulation theory of dreaming, which says

that nightmares could be your brain preparing you for danger in the real world.

According to threat simulation theory, dreams were selected for during evolution to help

us survive — as opposed to being controlled by emotions.

So if you dream you're being chased by an angry sabre tooth tiger your brain might just

be preparing you in case you're attacked in real life.

The idea matches what psychologists have seen in studies — like in a 2005 study of almost

200 children, where researchers found evidence that being exposed to danger, like violence

or abuse, primes our brains to dream about dangerous scenarios even more, possibly to

prepare against future threats.

And based on what we know about dreaming and trauma, it makes sense that your brain would

do this.

I mean, dreaming is kind of like a simulator where you can't hurt yourself.

The threat simulation theory alone can't really explain all of our dreams, though,

and it's possible that your brain uses dreaming in a lot of different ways.

There are also plenty of scientists who think dreams don't have a specific purpose at

all — they're just what happens when neurons randomly fire while you sleep.

So, it's hard to know exactly why you dreamed that you forgot to study for a final and showed

up without pants, or tried to ride a horse down the highway.

But your brain might be trying to help you process emotions or prepare for some kind

of threat.

Vanilla Ice: The Art of the Unknown | Kaleb I.A. - Duration: 11:21.

Volume 26: The Mist of Emptiness, Vanilla Ice.

The arc where we were introduced to Vanilla Ice, the stand user of Cream.

The first interaction between Vanilla Ice and the Stardust Crusaders was an immediate

fatality.

That alone was able to establish the group's situation when matched up.

See, the group had been split up by having 2 groups of three.

The first group being taken away by Telence T. D'Arby, and the second group waiting for

the first group to come back.

First group being Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin.

Second being Polnareff, Abdul, and Iggy.

Why wait for the first group to come back?

The loss of the number one, range, and the fear of the unknown.

Atum, the stand of Telence D'Arby, had enough strength to pull in Jotaro while he's being

held by both Kakyoin and Joseph.

By disappearing in front of them, there are so many thoughts when it comes to the second

group.

We learn later on that D'Arby just wants to play some games at the cost of people's

souls, but he's not overpowering the first group with ridiculous strength or faster than

eyesight speed.

The second group had only been shown that the enemy stand user was stronger than all

three of group one and the ability to pull them into a black hole, and when you think

between the group members you have left, it goes back to what I said about multiple thoughts.

One of being to continue on into the mansion despite what was told to them.

So what do they do?

They act on further pursuing DIO.

Now the combination of Avdol and Iggy should be enough when it comes to detecting life.

It should easily detect any form of life including stands and stand energy.

Kenny G, the stand user that they had detected with the combination of Life Detector and

Iggy's sense of smell.

They had easily dealt with Kenny G, so maybe there's a possibility the future stand users

will be the same as him.

They don't know, but that's what highlights the whole situation.

The audience had seen Vanilla Ice before the Stardust Crusaders did, and the potential

of Vanilla Ice had seemed vague when first introducing him, but when his introduction

had ended, it solidified that the group is going to be in some deep trouble.

After the defeat of Kenny G, the group turns to more of a neutral mood and not as cautious

as they were when they first entered.

They are very much alert when it comes to detecting, but since they have a reliable

detection, they don't have to be on their toes as much.

But all attention was drawn back to Avdol, this is where the art of the unknown begins.

After defeating Kenny G, the Life detector had gone back to normal with the flames not

reacting to anything.

But on his hand, someone had carved directly into the stone wall.

When you turn your heads, you will die.

So in this instance, what is there to do that would seem rational?

If I don't turn around, will I still die?

If I turn around do I immediately fight?

What.

Is.

Behind.

Me.

What had seemed rational to Avdol was to turn around, despite the warning.

Would you turn around if something had told you that you would immediately die?

Well, the question varies to many because it depends on how someone views what they

don't know.

Avdol had turned around and saw Vanilla Ice's stand Cream, ready to attack.

In that instance, there was a lot to think about.

Highlight questions like, "What is that?

What does it do?" and "Where did this even come from?"

When it came to Avdol the questions were more of, "How did Iggy or I not detect this stand?

How do I tell them in time?

What the hell is that?"

But after very quick thinking, putting Iggy and Polnareff ahead of himself was what he

had done.

Despite what he had said to both Iggy and Polnareff before they entered.

Which in the end, had been the fatal end to Avdol.

Now our view through Polnareff's perspective begins exactly when Avdol had sent both Polnareff

and Iggy flying.

"Why did Avdol hit us?

Why are his arms on the ground?

Where is Avdol?"

This isn't because Polnareff genuinely knowing if Avdol is dead or not, he knows he's gone

when he sees the arms.

It's more of just purposely not believing it, it's the 5 stages of grief, but probably

excluding bargaining.

But following the rest of the arc through the eyes of Polnareff had really shown you

the feeling that him and Iggy shared when confronted by what they couldn't understand.

By itself, the scene was enough to show you exactly what they were going through.

Iggy specifically when focusing on him had shown that he's very much overwhelmed when

Vanilla Ice reveals himself inside of Cream.

Then that feeling of being trapped, because how exactly do you know if you're ever in

the clear when you're being pursued by something you can't even see.

Moving further on in pages or in time in the anime, you notice that Polnareff and Iggy

try to cover each other as well as possible due to this invisible force that can wipe

them out from existence in an instant.

The feeling of being trapped because you don't know where something is.

Piecing that together with the destructive yet silent power that Vanilla Ice has, is

a setup for misfortune.

Going back to when Polnareff had tried to strike at Cream, he revisits a feeling he

knows well in Part 3.

That feeling being a type of mourning, but at the same time containing regret, despair,

and rage.

All of this due to Vanilla Ice & Cream.

See, I believe that Vanilla Ice was one of the more better villains in part 3.

He's the boss before the final boss, and getting past him means you're going to have

a couple of casualties to understand what's going on.

Especially since there was no information on Vanilla Ice before going in, and his whole

existence is a random factor.

At the same time, the Stardust Crusaders commonly go against stand users without knowing their

abilities until during the fight.

Majority of the time that gets them hurt and instances where they could be close to death,

yet there was never a villain to put a nail in the coffin.

Vanilla Ice was the first to do so off of his first attack on the group, which is a

lot to say about his rank versus Dio's other lackeys.

Vanilla Ice still very much follows under Dio like a servant and there is no equal ground

between the two.

The only way Vanilla Ice could look at Dio is if he's looking up, meaning that he puts

Dio on the large pedestal.

At this point not being a pedestal, but possibly a tower of some sorts.

Yet the combination of the two is art.

Dio and Vanilla Ice, originally the combination of Time and Space.

Araki had stated manipulation of space and or time gives a villain that property of being

ridiculously strong.

Imagine if Dio and Vanilla Ice had worked together when the Stardust Crusaders had came

into Dio's home.

Dio grouping them up in stopped time to be right in front of Cream.

Now for that to working there would have to be timing and other tidbits, but regardless

the combination of those to would deadly.

Vanilla Ice alone could've taken out 3 of the Stardust Crusaders, but that didn't

happen because Vanilla Ice wanted to set some sort of mood and positioning.

Where he would be in the position to say "You guys had lost as soon as you entered".

So how exactly do you lose a character like this in the process of making one of the most

best fights in the part?

You lose him due to madness.

See once you know the unknown, then it isn't the unknown.

And once you know something, you know for the most part what's going on with it.

The problems, how to exploit it, how it works, the tricks behind it's process or power.

Once you remove Vanilla Ice out of his shell which in this case would be Cream, you just

have another follower of Dio.

Notice that when Vanilla Ice starts showing his true colors, Polnareff starts to read

Vanilla Ice.

Catching his paths, the pattern of how he destroys things, the timing so he knows when

to strike.

It all comes to fruition when you start to know what you didn't.

Although it did seem that Polnareff had lost when it came to the final moments of him and

Iggy versus Vanilla Ice.

Even though Iggy was suppose to be out of commission, he does save the day.

My issue on it being that Iggy didn't save the day though, my grip is how Cream works.

Both Vanilla Ice and Cream can't see when devouring everything so basically what Cream

had done with the spiral was a physical interpretation of the process of elimination.

It's not here or there, but if I go all the way around to the last dot, I'm going

to find it.

In the midst of that, you have Polnareff actually going through the stages of grief that I had

mentioned.

Except his bargaining was replaced with optimism in a sense.

His best case scenario being that his friends would end up saving him and taking care of

this whole mess.

So you get his denial from the loss of his friend, the anger / fear caused by the unknown

power of cream, his optimism when getting his chances of survival literally spiraling

down, and well…

I wouldn't consider it to be depression in his case.

At the same time, I wouldn't say he's putting on a front either when saying he's

going to be saving Iggy and all.

He came to acceptance pretty quick, which is the last step.

He believed that Iggy had to be the one to tell the others about what had happened, somehow.

I'm not even sure exactly how he would do that being a dog.

Explaining how Cream works by barking seems like a pretty difficult task, but regardless

he put that trust into Iggy.

Iggy used said trust and redirected it back towards Polnareff, which had ended up in a

second loss of a member.

It's sad, Polnareff had accepted death and said good-bye to Iggy, yet it was Iggy to

meet his fate.

But in the last moments, now you have Vanilla Ice out of his shell and Polnareff with more

resolve than ever.

Then the final fight had seemed one sided due to Polnareff's flurry of attacks with

ease and Vanilla Ice repetitively coming back, but it never seemed that Vanilla Ice could

pull the win off anyways.

So what had happened?

Did Vanilla Ice thought less and less when compared to when he was first shown?

Yes, it's very easy to say that Vanilla Ice had changed in some ways.

But that's not why he lost.

Vanilla Ice had lost due to him turning into a vampire for one, but the biggest reason

is because he lost the unknown factor.

See, you can't remove a key factor of something because then that specific thing is no longer

the same anymore.

Imagine removing stealth from a ninja, speed from a runner, the secrets of a secret agent.

Anything!

Anything has a key trait that defines it, and when you remove that trait then it's

nowhere near the same.

Vanilla Ice had became massively exploitable and weak, even when being compared to someone

who could barely get up.

Vanilla Ice was a character that had power in the darkness of the unknown.

But, it was all over as soon as Polnareff had shown him the light.

Or well, pushed him towards the light.

[Anne McClain] I was blessed to have parents, that never put any qualifiers on what I could

do.

If I said, "I want to be an astronaut," and I did when I was three years old.

I looked at my mom and I said, "I want to be an astronaut."

She never told me that I couldn't.

Pick up this octopus, which is actually-- And if I ever got any inkling from anybody,

that I couldn't do it, my mom would say, "Well, do they work for NASA?

Well, then I guess their opinion doesn't matter, does it?"

I came in out of West Point.

And I flew Kiowa Warrior helicopters.

And it was the path that I wanted to take, even if I had not become an astronaut.

I wanted to serve my country in the army.

I believed that I thrived in the army.

Because I was judged 100 percent on my merit.

And what I contributed to the units that I was a part of.

And that's what I really tell young women that want to be evaluated on a leveled playing

field is to join the army.

See kind-of in your mind, it's a 3D bath if it's a-- One of the most challenging and cool

things, we do here at NASA is that we don't do the same thing any two days.

And so, we could be in the water in a space suit on Monday, and in Russian language class

on Tuesday.

And then we're sitting in mission control, talking to the space station on Wednesday.

And I enjoy that.

- [Man] I had a two tethered failure.

I am off.

I am flowing my hand-- - You know, I look at my bio, and one of the things that makes

me proudest is that I made my ten year old self proud.

The big thing is to be true to yourself.

And to be passionate.

And we tell this to candidates that come and they want to be astronauts and they always

ask us and they say, "Should I go to this university?

Should I major in this or that?

Should I get this job?"

And we say, "You have to do what your passionate about.

Because, otherwise, you're never gonna have enough energy to do all the hard work that

it takes, if you don't actually enjoy doing it."

And, to this day, if I had not been selected as an astronaut in 2013, I would be thrilled

to still be serving my country, in uniform, and, you know, the army's probably going to

have to kick me out, at some point, because I'm not going anywhere.

Hostage of Europe Episode 04 - ''Greece and Greek authorities'' - Duration: 27:31.

Hi everyone … This is Fourth episode of ''Hostage of Europe''.

''Greece and Greek authorities''

Indeed, no deportation can ever take place without acknowledge and consent of second country.

In my case, Greece.

I was sent back to Greece at a time when even Dublin system was suspended,

and none of the European countries deporting anyone to Greece.

This is also reflected in the UN special reporter latest report about human rights in Greece. Page 3.

At a time when all borders were open and people were freely leaving this country to arrive in other EU countries.

Swedish authorities on all the occasions refused to provide me with a lawyer,

and they send me back to Greece even before the Migration Court makes the final decision on my appeal.

Two migration officers escorted me to the airport till they put me in a plane, last seat,

while they passed my documents to the pilot's cabinet and had told me that Greek

authorities will be receiving me in Athens airport.

Upon landing, I was received by Alidapon, they kept in their police station near the

airport for at least 4 hours and for absolutely no reasons.

Dehumanizing and criminalizing refugees are the only ways Police have taught in conducting

its behaviors with Refugees.

Just wanted a legal way to be able to go and settle in other EU countries and also to avoid smugglers.

But EU countries in the North have sought to use the Dublin system all to their own

advantage and all at the expense of refugees.

I was back again In Greece in September 2015.

In Sweden when I learned about the first decision on my case I tried to reach out to NGOs and

other Organizations to seek out help, Caritas was one of them.

None of them did anything, and Caritas told me they can help through their local office

in Greece, but every time I went to the Caritas Hellas, in Athens, they just lied to me.

For the rest of NGOs in Greece they are always doing the same, although they get money from

European commission and elsewhere but they are absolutely doing nothing for Refugees.

I needed a lawyer, I asked all of them to provide me with a lawyer, ''that's not

what we do'' they said to me all the times.

Greek Council for Refugees (GCR), Arsis, Praksis, IOM.

Solidarity now, Hellenic Red Cross and many others.

They are not helping anyone in anyways.

They even didn't help me to find a place to rent, without internet and getting help

from a mobile app I couldn't know how or whether I would ever be able to find a place to rent.

I had to call at least 30 real estate agencies to find an apartment.

Some of them were asking for two years in advance payment, some of them a bit more generous,

just wanting one year in advance payment and most of them after learning about my status

and that I was a Refugee in Greece then immediately were denying to rent me a place.

''There is no job in Greece, you can't get a job, you can't earn money, you can't

pay your rent, therefore you can't rent a house'' that's what they were telling me.''

All those days that I have been here at UNHCR's main office on hunger strike and protest,

I never saw the least attention from any of the NGOs in Greece.

Those who claim to support refugees in this country.

During the first month, I was visited by two ladies from MSF, those who foisted themselves

as civilians, they said they had helped to publish an article about my case in a Greek

journal, although I am deeply grateful for that but still I couldn't exactly know why later they disappeared.

Their argument was if they pay attention to my case, then UNHCR

wouldn't be interested in taking responsibilities and giving the needed response to this outrageous situation.

But now there is no attention from anywhere.

Your excuse for not helping didn't work out MSF Greece.

I am literally looted in Europe rather than finding Refuge.

I don't even have access to the European job market.

While I was awaiting a response from the Greek and European authorities as well as the United

Nations Refugee Agency I was also looking so hardly to find a job here in Greece, but

it's impossible whether I look for a job in my own area of expertise or something else.

Refugees are just absolutely remained deprived of everything in this country as if they only

want to use refugees for exploitation purposes.

I send my resume to at least 50 construction and civil engineering companies in Greece.

I never heard back from them.

I applied for many other jobs online, in Greece and elsewhere in Europe, I never heard back from them as well.

Whereas stealing assets is wrong and so is stealing the right to earn a living, no matter

where the victim was born.

Praksis Organization was running a program called ''Business Coaching Center''

I went to them to be able to join some other group of people and start and small business

with them but they said this is only for Greeks not refugees.

''Only Greeks'' a phrase which, according to some is also very common even in the red district areas.

So, basically NGOs in Greece are operating with the same mentality that runs red district

areas, they even won't provide the least information for Refugees to help them find

their ways in this country.

They even won't provide proper language training courses, with one hour per week,

no one is going to learn any languages in anywhere.

Let's not forget that there is also a never ending economic crisis in this country, it's

catastrophic, according to some statistics unemployment rate is above 50 percent,

more shameful than that, the officials just put a sand on it and treat it in a way as if it

doesn't exist, so that's why there are no effective discussions about the subject

and as long as this is the way, there won't be any solutions any time soon.

The fact of the matter is that refugees have got their own problems, a lot of it, we can't

stay in a place that causes extra problems for us, keep your problems to yourself and

let us go.

It's very simple, I didn't seek refuge to pay and suffer.

You can't pretend protecting people while all you do is to inflict pain and suffering on them.

Pretending to do, is not as same as doing.

No matter how many times you write to them, no matter how many times you go to their office

or call them, Greek authorities at the Asylum office are always lying.

I wrote them a lot of times, but never got a response from them and whenever I went to

Now I am waiting for one and half a year and there is nothing.

The last time they told me I will get a response within a few days, was on 08 May, 2017.

Here it is, just listen to it.

Sweden made two decisions on my case and send me back to Greece illegally all within three months.

Now I am waiting for one and half a year for a response to my situation in this country,

but they are not responding.

They say we send you an email, and they say this for this long time.

You don't need one and half a year, many months or many weeks just to write me an email.

When a country fails to protect a refugee, a group of refugees or all the refugees in

their country, they must apologize and let the world community and the United Nations

Refugee Agency find them another solution.

This is the procedure, not playing with Refugees because of your own shortcomings.

For those of you who wonder why Refugees are taking all the risks and most of the times,

the most inhumane ways to get to the safety, well, you see now how hard is it when a Refugee

goes to those so called concerned authorities.

They are always in the front line to disrespect and humiliate refugees and put them in the hands of smugglers.

So, if you are an Australian, I am reaching out to you to simply pick up the phone address

this simple question to your country's Prime Minister.

Where is the legal way to a refugee outside of his country to come to your country

and find a place of refuge there?

As long as you don't have an effective and well-functioning international legal system

for refugee to find safety you must Stop torturing people for coming to your country illegally.

If you are a British national who is watching this, then please reach out to your Prime

Minister and tell her that UN agencies are not to serve her interests but the people's.

Why should your interests be in inflicting pain and suffering on others?

Are you literally thinking it's only you who deserve to have a happy and good life here

on this fucking stupid patent?

I still remember the guy in Greek Council for Refugees (GCR) who once told me we didn't

invite you to come to our country.

Well, I didn't invite myself either, Greece and the whole Europe was totally an unintended

destination, whether you believe it or not, I had no control over it.

I will deeply appreciate if you reach out to everyone you know and come here at UNHCR's

main office to tell these the most incident people in this office to give me a way out,

that not only to leave behind your country but the whole silly continent.

If you are not coming here to support this, then please stop barking at the next Refugee

who is coming to you or your fucking stupid organization where he expects to find help.

Refugees don't need mad dogs barking at them for absolutely no reasons.

You want to do the Barking anyway, that's alright, then find the right people, and do

it there, but not refugees.

How about trying the Greek Asylum Office, Your own Parliament or the most suitable at this

time, the United Nations Refugee Agency.

I would be very much glad to have you here barking at them, they are not doing what they

should and what they supposed to do and they are thieves anyways.

So, let's catch some thieves and seek justice for them, shall we.

A train can easily move from one side of the planet to another side without absolutely

no obstacles, from china to U.K and vice versa. But when it comes to the poor and innocent refugees

not only there is literally no way but also everything else is working against them.

People are being punished for helping Refugees, in France, Scandinavian countries and even

perhaps elsewhere.

I don't know whether this is a true story or not, but once somebody told me about a

Refugee who had been on protest in front of the UNHCR office in Athens for two years,

yet still they didn't help him.

Two years of protest and they didn't help him, what the fuck is this Organization doing?

Let me bring up another example, which I took the latest report of the UN's Special Reporter

''François Crépeau'' in there you will see an asylum seeker waited 12-years in Greece

for a decision on his case.

Can you believe this, 12-years?

How you can ever expect this person to become a happy and productive member of the society,

how you can ever expect this person to survive.

It's On page 04, let me read it for you.

No human decency found here, they play with other people's lives as if it's absolutely

nothing to them.

How many more cases should find its way to the courts of Human rights for them to understand

what they do to the Refugees is totally wrong, shameful, illegal and unacceptable.

Shut down your asylum office and let the world community save Refugees

from Monsters like you. Please world come and save us, save me from these criminals, please help.

I am looted in Europe rather than finding Refuge, just let me go.

I made a mistake coming to this fucking silly continent, sorry, okay sorry, I had no control

over it, just let me go.

Charge me for a safe way out, but just let me go.

Not only in Greece, but the whole Europe, they are implementing something that's not only

wrong but also very bad and dangerous and they are implementing it so badly and they do it intentionally.

10, 000 missing child Refugees on Europe's soil are still in the hearts and minds of so many people.

Heinous Atrocities.

I never heard any President ever talk about them, why?

Not civilized yet, still got a long way to go, at the end of the day all that matters

are what we leave behind.

a new LEGO Ninjago Movie set -

that will be released under the LEGO Juniors line.

It's the Shark Attack set,

and includes Lloyd in a training outfit,

a shark soldier,

and Kai on a bike.

What do I think?

Well, it's cute to see that Juniors

is getting a LEGO Ninjago Movie set.

I think the Lloyd figure is exclusive to this one,

but I may be wrong with that.

I would guess this is $15 dollars,

judging other Juniors sets with the box size.

It also gives you a nice taste

of some of the new pieces of the line -

with the shark guy, LLoyd, hair,

the new two-part mask on Kai,

the new sword,

the tassle,

this part back here,

and this spikey wood part.

All are great.
