Does Photographic Memory Exist? - Duration: 6:07.

It's 2 AM on a Wednesday night — well, technically, it's Thursday morning — and
you're still studying.
You're on your third mug of tea, your eyes are starting to blur, and no matter what you
do, you just can't get the stuff you need to know for that test tomorrow morning to
stick.
Wouldn't it be nice, you think, if you had a photographic memory?
Then you could just read through everything once.
On the day of the test, you'd be able to mentally pull up the page the important stuff
was on and, like magic, all the info you needed would be there.
You'd ace that test and ride off into the sunset.
OK, we're mixing metaphors here, but the point is that if photographic memory sounds
a little bit like a magician's trick or a Hollywood cliché, well … that's because
it kind of is.
Pop culture is full of characters who claim to have photographic memories.
It makes for great TV, especially when you're three-quarters of the way through a police
procedural and it would be suuuuuper handy if the roguish private investigator could
just happen to remember that license plate he saw as a suspect's car screeched off
into the distance.
But in real life?
It's not clear that photographic memory is actually a thing.
Sure, there are definitely people who have really great memories.
Chess grandmasters can remember where every piece is on a chessboard after looking at
it for just five seconds, because to them, the pieces are arranged in meaningful patterns.
And savants can have remarkable abilities in specific domains, like memorizing long
symphonies or knowing which day of the week a particular date in history fell on.
There are also people with a rare condition called hyperthymesia, where they can recall
details of their own day-to-day lives in exact — and sometimes excruciating — detail.
But when we talk about photographic memory, we usually mean someone who can look at something,
take a mental snapshot, and later remember every single detail perfectly.
The snapshot might be so good, in fact, that the person notices something they didn't
see before.
Thing is, nobody actually has this kind of memory.
A woman known only as "Elizabeth" is the only documented case of something even close
to a literally photographic memory.
In one study published in 1970 in the journal Nature, she looked at two images made up of
black-and-white dots one at a time.
Afterward, she called up the two images in her mind and laid one on top of the other.
When they were combined like that, the letter "T" emerged — and Elizabeth was able
to see it!
Sounds cool, right?
The study was a pretty big deal, and other scientists tried to look into it more.
Like a researcher named John Merritt, who put out a photographic memory test in a magazine
in 1979.
He estimated that a million people tried to solve it, but only 30 replied with the correct
answer.
He was able to meet with 15 of those people, but found that when they were being observed
by a scientist, none of them were able to replicate their feats of photographic memory.
So Elizabeth remained a unique case.
And her story is more than a little fishy.
She only underwent one round of tests, later refusing to do more.
Oh yeah, and she also married the researcher.
So the chances that the study's results were biased or flawed, either accidentally
or on purpose, seem pretty high.
But there is another phenomenon that's similar to what we think of as photographic memory
— and it's pretty darn cool in its own right.
It's called eidetic imagery.
After people with eidetic imagery, called eidetikers, study an image, they can continue
to see the image out in the world.
They can scan around it and describe all kinds of little details.
It's almost like they're seeing an afterimage, except that it appears in the correct colors
— rather than in inverse colors, like when a camera flash goes off in your face.
Eidetikers can get rid of the image by blinking or closing their eyes, but even if they don't,
the image still always disappears within a few minutes.
And once it's gone, they can't call it back up anymore.
Even while the image is still around, an eidetiker's recall isn't perfect.
The images generally aren't detailed enough to recall, say, a page of text.
So … not that helpful for cramming.
Besides, people grow out of eidetic imagery before they're really old enough for test-taking.
Yup.
Weirdly enough, eidetic imagery is only found in children.
There are no reported cases in adults, and it occurs less frequently in children the
older they get.
This has led researchers to think that in kids with eidetic imagery, the ability goes
away as a normal part of their development.
One possibility is that eidetic imagery disappears as thought becomes more abstract and linguistic.
It's been shown that verbalizing the names of things in an image can prevent an eidetic
image from forming.
But other studies have found that eidetic imagery doesn't necessarily go down as a
child's linguistic skills get better, so that idea could be wrong.
Other researchers have suggested that eidetic imagery is a longer-lasting form of iconic
memory, which is the normal, very brief, sensory memory we have of things we've just seen.
But there are studies that contradict that idea, too.
Researchers have found that eidetic imagery causes alpha-wave activity in the occipital
lobe of the brain, a kind of activity that isn't usually associated with visual imagery.
Meaning that eidetic imagery might be an entirely different kind of visual imagery, instead
of just a more intense version of iconic memory.
So we don't yet have a conclusive, agreed-upon explanation for why eidetic imagery happens
and why it disappears.
But photographic memory definitely doesn't exist in real life, and the one thing everyone
can agree on is that there's no shortcut that'll give you a perfect memory.
Mnemonics and practice can help you get better at memorizing things, but you're not going
to develop a photographic memory anytime soon, sorry.
But hey, at least nobody else in your class has one, either.

Dark Souls Unused Content MYTHBUSTING ► Prototype DLC Bosses DEBUNKED! - Duration: 10:07.
Hello everyone this is Sanadsk and today I am back with a super interesting video where
I am going to be talking about the Prototype DLC enemies and bosses.
Now if you don't know, in the files of Dark Souls 1, there are a couple of prototype enemies
and bosses that are earlier versions of the same enemies found in the Artorias of the
Abyss DLC.
Now a lot of people were debating whether these prototypes were in the game before the
DLC was released or that they were added by mistake with the release of the DLC.
So I wanted to clear up all these misconceptions and I took it to myself to actually check
all these stuff in a non-patched version of the game and give you guys the clear picture
of everything happening here.
So in this video I am going to be showing you the procedure I went through to check
these things then show you all the prototype enemies rendered in Full HD and comparing
them with their final counterparts in a very clear and understandable manner to see how
they changed over time and what their significance in the development of the game was.
So make sure you give this video a thumbs up and share it so that we can get rid of
these baseless misconceptions.
So without further ado, let us begin!
So first of all, you have to know that the PC version of the game already has the DLC
included with it so any discoveries on the PC version cannot be used to explain things
if we wanted to know if they existed before the DLC.
So the perfect candidate for this is the PlayStation 3 version of the game and I was able to get
a non-patched version of the game without the DLCs or anything.
It is the 1.00 version of the game the very very first version released for the game.
So to be able to actually check the insides of the files, I would need to either jailbreak
my PlayStation 3 and view the memory of it which is a very big hassle and I don't even
have my PlayStation 3 anymore, or be able to run it on my PC and that is where an amazing
emulator called RPCS3 came to be very handy.
Now RPCS3 is a PS3 emulator but it is still very buggy and it's not effective for actually
playing games but you can run Dark Souls on it and I was able to get Cheat Engine to work
with it and be able to read its memory.
Even though the framerate was ranging from 1-3 frames-per-second, I was patient enough
to cope with it.
So first I wanted to test changing memory values by trying unused weapons.
And I spent like 2 hours trying to do that using the methods I use on the PC version
but sadly, it didn't quite work.
So I researched it a bit and I have found what the problem was.
Now I don't claim to be a professional programmer or anything but I'm going to be explaining
it as simple as possible and in the way that I understood it.
So there is a thing called Big Endian and a thing called Little Endian.
The memory of the PC version of the game is loaded in Little Endian, but the PS3 version
is loaded in Big Endian.
So what is the difference between Big and Little Endian?
So for example, the model and icon IDs for the Hard Leather Helm is 90 24 35 04 but that
is in little endian which is the PC version.
Now the PS3 version shows and loads it differently.
It loads it as 24 90 04 35.
Now what it basically does is that it takes each 2-bytes and flips their positions and
that makes a huge difference while doing the swapping thing because decimal for the little
endian version is 70,591,632 while in big endian it is 889,491,492.
Same thing with the model ID.
It is 9360 in little endian and 36900 in big endian.
So it is just a big mess but I got around it thankfully and was able to convert the
big endian values back and forth.
So I was able to load the Black Zweihander weapon which confirms that it was in-game
before the DLC.
I also tried the unused armor sets and they are also in-game.
Now for the part you were waiting.
So just a quick thing I have to let you guys understand.
Now each entity in the game has a unique ID for loading that entity.
And by entity, I mean enemy, boss or NPC.
So for example, Gwyn's ID is c5370, Artorias' ID is c4100 and you get the idea.
So first I double-checked that the DLC content doesn't exist in the files by checking the
IDs of the DLC bosses and yes, they didn't exist in the original game.
So I began checking the Prototype enemies and much to my expectance, they actually exist
in the files of the original game before the DLC was even announced and when the game was
released for the very first time in the world.
And they are Prototype Chester, Prototype Kalameet, Prototype Sanctuary Guardian and
Prototype Chained Prisoner.
So I'll be showcasing each one and comparing the different versions using fully rendered
shots in 3DSMax.
First we are starting with Chester because I also promised to address the thing about
his sword in my previous video.
Now the prototype Chester is 99% the same as the Chester we got in the DLC with the
exception of his shoes that look pointier.
However, they share the exact same UVs and when comparing their textures, they just reskinned
him to look kind of rustier than he was originally.
There is also the alternative version of him wielding the Black Zweihander we talked about
in the previous video and it is also the the same case as the Chester with the crossbow.
The only difference is that this one is without the black coat Chester wears.
You can see on the screen the differences between them.
Next we have is Black Dragon Kalameet.
In the prototype, he was more of a Grey Dragon Kalameet and his body was more built as they
have made him quite thinner in the DLC.
The main differences are his hands and feet as he originally had five fingers where in
the DLC he has four.
Also the spikes coming out of his back originally had one row but in the DLC, he has two rows
and his wings are significantly smaller.
The design of his head is also not changed much as the idea of the third eye is still
there.
For me, I like to think of this as Kalameet before the Abyss consumed him it would make
good sense in that aspect.
Next is the Sanctuary Guardian.
Now this boss' prototype is actually the worst out of all of them because its UVs are
messed up, and that's why the hair looks pretty awful.
The general shape of the prototype is very similar to its DLC counterpart with the main
idea of the Chimera still the same.
There are only slight differences such as the whiskers on his face and his horns are
a bit shorter than the prototype version.
And the last one we have is the Chained Prisoner.
This guy, same as Chester, shares the exact same textures albeit they made it more mossy
you can say and added a lot of detail to the textures.
The main differences is that he originally had this spike ball in the back and the huge
log that has penetrated him didn't come out from the other side.
Here you can see the prototype with the textures of the DLC one.
And here, it is the DLC on with the textures
of
the prototype.
So all of these things can mean a alot of things but the most possible possibility,
let's say, is that the DLC was supposed to be actually in the original game but they
ran out of time and they couldn't finish everything and make it playable, and they
decided that if they were gonna create a DLC, they can use these assets.
Now why I am saying this, is because Demon Souls had the Northern Limit area with functional
enemies and NPCs and all of that, and even though they didn't release a DLC, they are
still on-disc until now.
So maybe because Dark Souls was a huge hit, they decided to create a DLC for the game
even if it's after a couple of years after the game was released.

Sandy Hook School did not meet any of the current legal requirements for handicapped
use, nor was it even usable, with bare pipe sticking out in the lavatory and a generally
poor state of repair inside and out.
Porta-potties were delivered the day before the official date of the fake shooting and
pizza and bottled water were also pre-purchased and delivered.
A script of the exercise written by a private Intel contractor has been recovered, and some
State Police have told others it was phony but they are afraid to go public or they would
lose their pensions or worse.
Actual crisis actors have been identified, folks with prior documented acting careers.
One of these, a man dressed up as a swat team member, carried his rifle upside down and
then has appeared as a parent who lost a child in another act of this sinister sick play
designed to motivate the American people to give up their guns.

is now available on the Internet in the first black and white edition as a pdf for free.
So far there have been over 10 million downloads, and the number is growing.
And yet, despite these stark facts that Nobody Died at Sandy Hook and it was a false-flag
attack designed by former US Attorney General Eric Holder, the CIA�s Controlled Major
Mass Media (CMMM) continues to promote the idea that 22 kids were killed by a young madman
Adam Lanza, who never existed at all.
Of course Holder was the soulless traitor that ran the �Fast & Furious� CIA/BATF
op to arm the CIA�s drug cartels, MS-13 and the gangs in order to create more chaos
and blame the Second Amendment and to get more taxpayers� money for a bigger centralized
LE.
Holder should have been charged for his part in the murder of Border patrol Agent Brian
Terry, but due to his linkage to the Ruling Cabal who placed him in power in the first
place, he skated (so far).
There is no statute of limitations on murder, by the way, so he is at risk if the Cabal
falls.
The Cabal�s obsession with getting rid of guns is actually based on fear of the American
masses.
They remember what happened in France with the French Revolution when the peasants rose
up.
They know that if the CMMM collapses, the masses become desperate and learn about all
their child sacrifice rituals and crimes against humanity for profit, and their commitment

computers and servers and truther�s computers.
5.
Use of a wide variety of limited hangout, misinformation and complete stooge anti-truther
websites and articles designed to keep the Internet user confused.
Despite all of these sophisticated methods used to bury and confound truth, these Cabal
actions are failing and a strong growing emerging populism is the evidence of that.
Due to WWII, the Cold War, and the Cabal-created war on Terror, the USG has been able to use
massive amounts of taxpayer money and massive fraudulent loans from the criminal Federal
Reserve System to transform America into a massive secret Police State.
This secret Police State maintains the veneer of �friendly fascism� (aka the �iron
hand in the velvet glove� as described by GHWB).
This massive secret Police State system was increased in size and power after 9-11-01,

what's special about it is that you actually can customize your full
pen set in that pen gallery and it also makes pens really sticky,
because it's really easy to switch between different pens
and to customize them, all while using your pen.
And it really makes Inking personal and is exactly, you can craft it how you want it.
So first you can add pens and pencils to the list, you can reorder them with drag-and-drop
and if you click on the pen again you can actually
change its thickness, change its color, anything like that to make the set just how you want it.
Doug: Oh, cool! So what other things are coming to Ink?
Kori: So, we're also bringing, some of you might be familiar with the Ink effects
that we have in our new apps, those are also coming to Word, Excel and PowerPoint now,
as well as pencil. Some of the effects are rainbow and galaxy as you're familiar with
and we're actually bringing four new ones, of which are lava and ocean pen,
which we're really excited about.

business side of things and she's a recent widower. She
knows nothing about country music. I have to think you
know a little bit living in the heart of Dixie,
are you bringing a " Nashville "? I think the
whole experience, you definitely introduce them to a lot of
southern things, so I was able to use that in
my character I guess you could say. Are you a
fan of country music? You know, I am a fan
with it. I'm not super familiar with it. I'd like
to be a little more familiar, since I'm on "
Nashville ." I really like it. It's an awesome genre.
Are you more a Taylor Swift fan? I do like
some Taylor Swift. I'm not going to lie. She's more
country. But there the a little of an oc reunion
happening here, Chris Carmack also from "The O.C." is on
Nashville. Was it into is to get recorrect E connected
with him? I think you posted some photos? Yeah, it
has been however long. He's such a sweet guy. He
just had a baby. It's nice to see him catch
up. Yeah, I actually had an opportunity to work with
Chris for a movie many, many years ago. He just
is such an awesome guy. He plays such an important
character. He plays an openly gay country artist. Have you
guys had an opportunity to talk a little about what
he, how he feels about his character? You know, enjoy
it, having this season and all. I think he's really
comfortable with it, has embraced it. I think it's probably
the most important character as far as like how he
represents and does a great job. It's what I love
about this show, perhaps the best thing is getting to
shoot in Nashville. What is that like for you? That
was awesome. I went to the city so much with
my little girl, I just fell in love with Nashville.
I've actually, I shoot in Nashville every once in a
while. I go down there. It's such a wonderful city
you have eat very well. You eat very well while
you are there. It's wonderful. The music scene. Do you
experience some of the music? A little bit. With my
little ones, I'm not in bars ad or anything. If
she was older, yes. ��"The O.C." do people want to
go back? I think, I'm so old, that was so
long ago. I think that same thing with " Fresh
Britain of Bellair request itself the show has been off
the air however 20- some years. Both shows are nominated
for a teen choice award. For now? Yes, we both

I never thought this would happen to me. It's insane
because any time I look at it. It goes up,

when I started. It's more my later puppet. First I
started out with-- Did you find yourself with petunia? Yes.
I know you talked about being so shy. Yeah. But
when I was little, I was super shy, but petunia
and all of my puppets have reallyelped me come out
and it love performing because parents tell me, are you
so shy off stage, but you come across as a
different person on stage. There is something special when you
walk on to a stage and you porl and it
allows you to let go into a character or a
song, does that what it meals like for you? Yes.
So becoming a ventriloquist is probably one of the hardest
things to do, to sing with your mouth closed. I
met a friend, before I met her, I didn't know
what it was, like the person holding the puppet was
supposed to talk. I thought it was electronic or something.
When she first told me, I thought, oh my gosh,
that is amazing, how in the world do you do
that? And she gave us tips and pointers. We want
some of those tips and pointers, what itself the process
for it? It has a lot to do with griting
your teeth in your mouth first I I started saying
letters of the alphabets and tongue twisters. Abcc six years.
Not my thing. So you can sing. You clearly could
sing. Yes. But did it take being able to sing
with a pup tote let your voice soar? Yes. Singing
was my thing before I started ventriloquim. She was like.
No she thought it was a fad. We're a big
family. I have three brother. Wow. They're totally in support,
yes? Yes, two of them. One of my is young.
What do they think of your fame now? Well, my
oldest brother, he's really kind of my moral support. My
older brother keeps me on point he gives me pointers
on social media. He's a social media guy smr very
important. My little brother helps me with friends at school.
So now you got the gold buzzer from Mel B.
That means you got to come back for the live
shows that start back up at the end of the
summer. How will you miss some of school, right, being
in Oklahoma? I will miss some of school, but I
have notified my friends, they're like, no. They're notified. You
can get them in the audience. There is nothing like
having that great support. So you are also a gymnast,
correct? I was. Did all of this stop you from
being a gymnast? It did. Be I mean, where I
went to a gym in Oklahoma City. I went for,
I did gymnastics for 33 hours a week. Right. It
was more like a job and I mean to go
do it and have fun. I wasn't having fun, so
I decided to switch. I had been there when I
was in gymnastics, it was an awesome site. That's why
it included gymnastics. Petunia has been awful quiet at this
time. Done have you anything to say? No, because I'm

PAINTBALL GUN MARCO POLO ft. Fhat Sam | Challenge Pete - Duration: 8:01.

we're going to be playing Marco Polo with a paintball gun and last time I did
a video with a paintball gun I got pretty messed up...
so this one should be interesting and very painful again. So the rules are pretty simple one person
is going to be blindfolded and the person that's blindfolded is going to be
holding the paintball gun the other person is going to run around the garden
and when the person with the paintball gun shouts Marco the other person has to
freeze and reply Polo now based off what they heard the person with the
paintball gun then has to look around the garden, obviously they're still blindfolded, so they've
got to use their ears to find the other person and then when they
think they're aiming at them they take a shot we're going to have ten shot each
whoever gets hit the most loses, and then the forfeit for losing is you
get shot in the ars*. You won't be able to sit down for a week. SAM: Let's do this.

Hey YouTube I wanted to come back at the end of the day
and show y'all how my hair ended up drying with the Ecostyler olive oil
Here it is. It is nice.
It has a good shine to it and I think because
it has that olive oil in it it did produce a really good shine.
Um, I'm glad I separated because there are still sections that are clumped together real big

This is like 1,000 hairs and it just clumped together.
As y'all know my hair strands are very fine.

And this is probably about 6 hair strands right here, 6 or 7 hair strands right here
So , um, it clumped together this piece of hair
as you can see these hairs are very fine and that's probably about 10 hairs right here
so it clumps the curls together BIG TIME!
After my hair dries, I will not break this apart.
It clumped this whole section together so it would just have to stay like that
because it's dry.
If I run my finger through this, it might rip my hair or split it so I'm just going
to have to leave it like this and it'll just have to be clumped like this.
The only thing that I can do to change that is
while I'm shingling the hair I could unclump it and smooth out each section so…
That would take a little bit TOO much time for me, so I probably wouldn't be doing
that but I know how to work with my hair to get
different results especially if it clumps together – my hair
like this.
I do like it though.
I like it I like the shine of it and I think because it has the oil in it , it
has a natural shine to it.

well every morning I drink most of a pot of coffee Erin makes it
she hasn't set off to go off when she gets up in the morning and by the time I
get to it it's cold so I have to microwave it but I really like the fact
that she makes coffee in the morning and so I am gonna make more coffee yeah
no Michael it is what it's fine it's coffee
I usually do 30 seconds if I want to drink it right away and if I'm putting
it in and I'm going to be drinking it a little later I usually do 60 seconds so
it's nice and hot but thirty seconds is kind of 37 seconds is perfect Emma
coughs a weak acid so waiting on my coffee though all right we got coffee
over my three goals that I mentioned yesterday I didn't have a great lunch
yesterday I did eat a lunch but it included a bagel and not enough fruit or
vegetables so today definitely going to take the time to make a good lunch well
I didn't actually vlog the lunch but I had a really delicious lunch Aaron made
chicken the night before and I'm really really really delicious pasta salad so I
had the chicken I had the pasta salad and I had a bunch of baby carrots great
lunch I should also mention that I took the day off from running but I'm
definitely I've got to go running tomorrow the other one I have been doing
a pretty good job of keeping my glasses off when I've been working on computer
part of the reason I don't always walk with the glasses on is because I have
the moxx while I'm editing and I'm working on the computer so I'm doing
just a little quick check-in while and editing right now and that's why I'm not
wearing glasses I feel like for the most part sticking to my weekly goals to make
a little more coffee
whew it's done hmm you always tease me for liking
microwave coffee I don't like it I don't love it let's put it that way I don't
love it but it does job caffeine baby woo back to editing for the wall right
so I this this is Emily hi Emily so Emily's espresso machine that we cleaned
out a few weeks ago with some vinegar we cleaned it out with vinegar yeah I
pulled a shot and then I I took the thing off and when I pulled
it off it exploded and I are going to listen some music today can I keep it
fairly low-key which Abed really really really last night I got a lot of sleep
and trying the computer on yeah a minor
Emily and I worked on a couple of her tunes to do some acoustic versions of
them I didn't vlog a ton of it we just kind of buckled down and worked on a
bunch of music I did work more on those Vista like toms so I'm going to segue to
that now we're going to keep working on these drums we wd40 them last night
we're going to use some steel wool and polish them up a little bit and then
we're going to throw them into a bat with bleach and dish soap and we'll kind
of let them soak in there for a while we'll steal them a little bit more after
that we'll rinse them and they should be super clean and awesome after that
they're super sticky from all of the all the wd-40 but they'll clean right up
with bleach and dish soap we're outside right now and we're going to steel wool
we're going to steel wool these things and do a little cleanup all right so we
got those cleaned up after steel wool we soaked it we let that sit for a while
and let those things really like you know
the hardware team to the sink because I'm cleaning up I'm vlogging I use this
just basic dish soap also used some simple green on the shelves well oh they
cleaned up nice very cool I believe we got an 8 a 10 and a 14 well I let those
things soak so I'm going to rinse them off and lay them all out it's kind of
the aftermath here quick rinse off and then I'm going to start laying them out
here on the table all right I got all
this Hardware washed up I'm going to towel it down all the hardware out to
dry I'm gonna see about any other parts that I need to order tomorrow we can get
these drums up and running really next week today is Wednesday actually today
is Thursday well today is Wednesday but this is Thursday's blog and I might
actually blog a little on Thursday for Thursday's vlog here is Thursday's
coffee montage it's going to be impossible to do a copy montage first
thing because Erin already made coffee and she already coordinate cup my Dino
Cup it's got disappearing dinosaurs that's pretty cool
for the end of this vlog I'm going to just do a really short little studio
session always need coffee for a studio session mmm I think at some point I'm
going to do a tour of the studio so I'm going to do everything that I'm going to
do on the mo on the sub 37 so I'm just going to pull up logic or make some
bleeps and bloops maybe a couple arpeggios his blog music making time
believe some bloops right now something really neat about this particular
instrument is it's sequencing function so I'm going to do just a little
sequence and then I'm going to mess with that all right now I got put it into
logic

gotta go back up finish this video I hope you guys have been enjoying
learning about 6n drums you know just kind of clean it up and referring them
there'll be more of that and I hope the studio session was fun super short and I
