And say that you'll give more than words can say

Then I could never falter baby

And I'm situated on no reassurance Can I get it locked down and be more secure

All in all, I just gotta know Girl I gotta know...

Then I could never falter baby

Baby don't you fly away away from me Not today not today

Can't you just stay here why you got to leave Tell me you'll stay

Cause I just need to know (Baby you love me)

Baby can't let you go (Baby you love me)

I just need to know (Baby you love me)

Baby can't let you go (Baby you love me)

You and me baby so much better together Can't you see baby we're much better together

Sound like a native speaker: Delete the 'H'! - Duration: 12:02.

I've 'ad a long time to work on this lesson, and I bet what I just said went right by you.

Hi. James from engVid.

Today I want to talk about letter deletion.

In English we do this a lot, and I don't want you...

So I want you to understand: I don't want you to use it, but I'm going to teach you

how to hear it, how to understand it, where it is commonly used so you can quickly identify

when we're speaking quickly.

Like when I said to you: "I ave", I said: "I have", but I dropped the "h" and that's

today's lesson.

We'll do other ones where I'll drop a "t", but for right now I want you to concentrate

on the dropping of the "h", and we call it the "H deletion" or "H deletion" if you're American.

All right? Let's go to the board.

You'll notice over here, my man, Mr. E, he has: "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, ?, I",

the deletion of H. Quick note.

Okay?

When we want to be clear on what we are saying we say each word exactly and precisely.

Okay?

However, when we say something regularly-okay?

This is the examples of why we delete it-or we speak quickly or fast, we drop sounds.

One letter we do this with is the letter "h".

Okay?

So as you can see, that's going to be my quick explanation on that, but I'm doing this sort

of like a warning for you, this little part because you are not allowed to do this because

you have an accent and you haven't mastered the English sounds.

First you have to master the sounds, so it's better to say: "I have" instead of "ave",

"I have", right?

Master the sound.

The second thing is this lesson's more about helping you to comprehend or listen to English,

and understand English quickly.

Okay? Are you ready?

Time for me to do that magic board thing.

[Snaps]

So let's talk about where the letter "h" is commonly deleted.

We know it's deleted, but I'm going to give you about five examples or six where you can

see the letter "h" is deleted often or quite commonly.

Okay?

Remember I said we do it when we speak quickly or it's something we say regularly?

So it won't be a surprise when I show you the examples on the board, why this would happen.

The letter "h" is commonly dropped when we use the verb "to have" or when we use pronouns.

So, "have" in this case becomes "ave".

"Has" becomes "azz", and I'm putting the "z" sound because pronunciation, it's not "a-s".

I know you "ass" for some of you, I know people who speak Spanish or have a Latin background

will "ass", because they see the "s", but we say the "z" sound: "azz".

And "had" becomes "ad".

"E 'ad about five minutes before e 'ad to leave."

If you're really careful...

Well, you have to go over here to hear what I actually said, but I used two of them at

the same time and it commonly happens, so much so that we as English speakers don't

realize we're not actually speaking the language, but just sounds.

All right?

Let's go over to the pronoun side of the board.

Okay?

Well, the pronouns you'll see we have "he" becomes "e".

Right?

"E's a really good guy", and I'm not talking about Mr. E. "E's a really good guy", instead

of: "He is a really good guy."

Okay?

"Her", I don't know err very well.

I don't know err very well.

It's not "her".

"I don't know her very well.", "I don't know err very well."

And "iz".

Right? I know it's "iss", it looks like this, "his", but this makes this sound, the "iz" sound. Right?

"Iz brother iz a good friend of mine.

Iz brother is a good friend of mine."

Notice how I'm speaking quickly, and for some of you I always speak quickly.

But generally speaking: "I don't know iz schedule.

I don't know iz schedule."

It's not: "I don't know his schedule."

Now, once again, I need to repeat this: You do not use this when you're speaking.

I'm giving you this, I'm giving you these examples by saying them so as you hear me

say them you're like: "That sounds familiar", and that's why sometimes you think you know

what we're saying, but you're not too sure.

It's because we delete these sounds.

Now, if you saw what I did here I actually at the beginning played with you by I said:

"E ad about five minutes."

And I said: "E ad", so instead of: "He had five minutes to talk",

"E ad five minutes to talk to us, then E had to go.

I don't know if err brother's coming, err brother's coming." Right?

"Ave you finished that project I gave you?

Ave you...?"

So instead of: "have you"...

It's difficult for me. See?

"Ave you finished the work I gave you? Have".

Sometimes the words with the deleted "h" are added to other words to create a new compound word.

One example is: "What have".

You might say: "Waddave you done this evening?", "Waddave you done with David?"

, or "Waddave you done to my room?"

Okay?

So that's an example of combining this deleted sound with another kind of slang sound.

Now, I did a video on that.

You'll go check that one out where we talk about things where words are brought together

or cut, or we say combined in English.

Right?

That's just one example.

Now what I want to do is go for a short quiz.

Now, remember what I said.

I keep saying it again and again, "reiterating" means to say again and again: This is not

for you to use, it's for you to understand.

And to understand that this kind of thing: "E", "err", and "iz" occurs with things we

say very regularly or we're speaking quickly.

But when we want to be clear, you will never hear somebody say something like:

"The police ave a warrant for you."

They'll say: "The police have a warrant for your arrest",

because they want you to clearly understand.

Okay?

Keep that in mind.

For you it's important to say all of the sounds.

The reason why is you're learning the language and you need to change your mouth, because

a lot of the times one language will say "r", for instance, Japanese people say "r" differently.

For "arigatou", "arigatou" their tongue is at the front of the mouth.

Well, in English: "arr" is in the back.

We curl our tongue.

Right?

You can only do that with practice to notice the difference.

Right? You got it?

So for you this is a lesson more on comprehending or understanding what English people speak,

not a lesson for you to copy.

All right?

So, let's go to the board, do the quiz, a short one, and let's see if you really understood

what I said.

[Snaps]

Okay, quiz time.

Here's a little hint.

A "hint" means a suggestion or some advice for you.

Okay?

Look for the letter deletion in movies, TV, and music. Okay?

Notice when it happens.

Right? That'll be important.

Notice when it happens, like: "E az", like pay attention, right?

But more importantly, notice when it doesn't.

You remember what I said before, okay?

We do not do letter deletion when it's very important.

I want to be clear and I want to be precise, I will not delete the letter at all.

Okay?

However, on regular speech or quick speech that happens.

Keep that in mind at all times, and if you understand what I said just now, then when

we do the quiz it'll be easy for you.

And one more note before I go, you're going to notice on the quiz I have:

"have, ave, es, ave".

All right?

This isn't a real word. Right?

As I told you, when we're clear we say the whole word.

This is just to remind you that you never write this down on paper.

It's what we say. Okay?

So this will help you understanding, better listening skills, but it's not something to

copy and put down and say: "E az!"

They'll go: "What is that?

This isn't English.

Maybe it's Spanish, but it's definitely not English."

Okay?

Do not write it on paper, do not try to speak it.

Just learn it so you can get better at listening to real English.

Listen like a native, basically.

Okay?

So, first question on the board: "I _______ ONLY one minute to talk to you!"

What would that be?

"Have".

Huh? "Have"?

Why "have"?

Simple.

Do you notice how: "I ONLY", "ONLY" was emphasized here, right?

"I only have one minute to talk to you."

Be very specific.

Remember I told you about being specific or being clear?

That person is going to be very clear with you: "I only have one minute to speak to you",

not any...

Not another second or 10 seconds more.

It's very clear.

They won't use the contraction.

What about number two?

"How _______ you been doing?"

Well, usually we say: "How are you doing?

What's going on? What's up?"

This one would be: "ave".

"How 'ave you been doing?

How 'ave you been doing?"

It's casual, regular speech.

You say this 20 times a day to about 20 or 30 people. Right?

Let's try the next one:

"You _______ to tell me the truth, RIGHT NOW!!"

What do you think?

You're right.

If you were paying attention, here and it said: "RIGHT NOW!!"

I'm being specific.

"You have to tell me the truth, RIGHT NOW!!

I'm not playing with you."

Specific, deliberate, exact.

You're starting to see a pattern here, aren't you?

Yeah.

Okay.

If someone's angry, if someone wants exact information - they're going to use the exact word.

Commonly or regularly used, or speaking really, really quickly, we'll delete the "h".

Let's try number four.

"It's a great day _______ gotta be relaxing outside."

That's my stomach.

I'm hungry, so get to the answer quickly.

I got to eat.

You can hear that rumbling?

Okay, I've given you enough time.

You can hear my belly rumbling.

"It's a great day e's gotta be outside relaxing."

Right? Why is it "e's gotta be"?

Look at this, what is that?

Is that a regular word?

Of course not.

This is a slang term, it's a word that's been put together.

"Have to be", right?

"Have got to be", so: "E's gotta be", so you know it's not going to be: "He has gotta be",

even this one's contracted.

This is the one that's the best one. Right?

"E's gotta be outside.

E's gotta be with his friends.

E's gotta be having a beer."

Right?

Casual, regular talk.

And finally, the last one.

Think carefully on this one, all right?

"The police _______ a warrant to ARREST YOU."

What would that be?

Hmm.

Okay, a couple things to think about.

The police, that's kind of serious, isn't it?

And arresting you, going to jail?

Huh.

Yeah, I know you got it right.

"Have".

"The police have a warrant to ARREST YOU."

Right?

They don't: "The police 'ave a warrant", no, it's not friendly.

You're going to jail, this is some serious business. Okay?

So, my time is up.

They're not coming to arrest me, luckily.

But I do want you to go to www.engvid.com, okay?

You know "eng" and then video, yeah, my old shtick.

Don't forget to click, tap, punch on the screen to do the quiz at engVid.

All right?

Thanks a lot.

Ciao.

Ciao.

What Was in My June Ipsy Bag? - Duration: 6:52.

Okay, hello!!

This is Plum And today I wanted to show you what I got

in my bag from Ipsy from June For June?

My bag from Ipsy for June I recently-

I just recently signed up for Ipsy It is a service that like picks out makeup

for you and sends it to you Like, based on what it thinks you would like.

It sends you samples And sometimes full-sized things

So, I thought that was really cool A lot of my friends recommended it to me

So I thought "Hey, let's try it!"

And I just recently got off of the wait list So, here's my first bag!!

So, let's go ahead and see what's inside!

But first, let's talk about the bag a little bit

It's got this tan...

I don't know what this is I don't know what material it is

A tan top with white-ish polka dots and a black bottom

And it's got these biiiiig lips on it The lips are supposed to symbolize being vocal

and speaking your mind Which we all know is very important in our

current political climate and life I will say that the top part here is a little

rougher than I expected I don't really know what I was expecting

But I felt it and I thought "Oh, that's kind of rough"

But I'm not going to be rubbing it on my face or anything

So, I think we're good there I like it

So let's go ahead and see what's insiiiiiiiiiiide Oh, it's stuck [laughs]

I will say that I haven't tried anything in here out yet, so maybe I should make another

video once I've tried everything out and do like a review

Oh, it's stuck This got delivered on a really hot day

So [laughs] some things are kind of sticking together

The first thing we have here is this whipped fouette

French?

From NYX in Pink Cloud I don''t know if you can see it very well

wooooo *ghost noises* When I first got it, I thought that it was

a nail polish Which shows you how little I know about makeup

But, um, apparently it's for your lips and also, like, cheeks

Like a blush/lip-thing combo So that's new to me

Um It does look a little glompy

Which I'm slightly worried about because I don't like anything glompy on my face

Um, but it definitely looks good for lips I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know for

sure But I'm skeptical

But I will definitely give it a try, Ipsy I like the color

Very bright The next thing I have is the Balm Springs

Blush from the Balm Cosmetics I guess Ipsy is telling me that I need some

more color on my face Because they sent me two blushes

Thanks, Ipsy It doesn't really go with my emo look

But you know, it's okay It looks like it's a nice color

It definitely is more in line with what I think of when I think of blush

Apparently, it stays on pretty well Which is good, because it's starting to get

really hot outside and I sweat a lot So that is what I need [laughs]

So thank you Ipsy It's in bubble wrap

So next I have this Margaret Dabbs London Treatment-Enriched Nail Polish in Green Daylilly

I don't know what the treatment is, but I know that this color is beautiful

So pretty Oh, wait

It's Vitamin E and Wild Rose Botanical Extract to help strengthen and protect nails

It's also supposed to smell like rose, too So let's give it a smell

Oops It definitely smells like nail polish

But, uh, definitely a little bit of rose in there

Kind of an odd smell But I'm excited to try it out because it is

beautiful So pretty

I'm so excited Then I've got this Beauty For Real I-LINE

24-7 Eyeliner in...

Chocolate Fix I used to wear brown eyeliner when I was just

starting out wearing makeup Brings me back to my high school days

Sometimes it looks a little off to me when I wear mascara with it, but maybe this will

be good for days when I don't wear mascara?

Or, I could look for looks that I like that have brown eyeliner in them

But it is- It's pretty dark

Let's see if you can see that That's pretty dark

So, it might not matter that it's not black But, I'll know

In my emo soul of souls So I will try that

Also a little skeptical I don't wanna look-

[laughs] Throwback to high school

Throwback to the awkward stage Oh, wait, we're still there

[awkward laughter] And then I have these two face masks from

BioRepublic I've got a green tea detox and an aloe rescue

I've never tried a face mask before so I'm excited

I really hope I don't have to use aloe rescue But, I am very fair and I doubt I'll be able

to make it through the summer without a sunburn but I really hope that this will be the year

I guess I could use it even if I don't have a sunburn

It's for "sun stressed skin" Which for me "sun stressed" is just straight

to sunburn But, whatever

So I'm excited to try these But also kind of scared

They look... not complicated, but... they look new

I guess Okay, so I think that's everything that was

in my bag I got five items

So I will try these out and make another video about them

I do want to say that I'm not affiliated with Ipsy in any way

But I just thought that it would be a good video to make to show off what I got in my

bag I will link to Ipsy's website in the description

for anybody that's interested And as well as my social media as always

Oh!

Thank you for watching my video, I forgot to say that!

I'd appreciate, as always if you'd like or subscribe

And also, there should be some other videos on the screen that you might like

Somewhere here [laughs] Um, so thanks again for watching and I hope

that you have a good day Okay, bye!!

Queer Media Thoughts - Duration: 14:34.

Hello I'm Rogan and welcome back. Today will be one take, I will try anyway.

This is unscripted too, because—that's why I'm doing one take, I have no script.

This is all or mostly my thoughts. Before we start, I want to ask you all.

It just so happened that the past three videos for Pride month are all history.

About the flag, Stonewall Riots, the Pulse shooting and UpStairs Lounge fire.

It just happened, I didn't mean to, but sure that's fine. And a couple videos upcoming will be history.

I want to ask this - should I go ahead and make Queer History an official series on my channel, like I do for ASL Ponderings.

Should I go ahead and do that with Queer History too?

Like in the title then have the "__ | Queer History," should I do that? Let me know if that's a thing I should do.

Okay. If you already saw the title, I will be talking about movies slash—Media. Media in general.

I will be talking about When We Rise, Moonlight, and Gender Revolution, my thoughts.

I have notes here and on my laptop.

I'm going to start with When We Rise.

It's a series on ABC, it first aired on Feb. 27th and continued until Mar. 3rd, this year - 2017.

It's basically about queer history since… This starts right after the Stonewall Riots in 1969.

It starts around 1970 and goes to, well, now. It follows three main people in queer history.

Cleve Jones, Roma Guy, and Ken Jones. They're the ones that are most consistent in all four parts.

It includes Roma's girlfriend, then later wife, Diane Jones.

They also have appearances from Gilbert Baker, the creator of the flag; Cecilia Chung, a transgender activist.

I'll sum up what it's about first, then I'll give you my thoughts about it.

It's broken up into technically eight parts, but if you go to the ABC website—it's free, has captions.

It's split into "nights" and there are four nights in total. Night I & II happen during around 1970 to 1980s.

Like I said, right after Stonewall Riots, 1970.

It follows Cleve and his coming out as gay to his family, moving to San Francisco because he heard it was

really good for queer people there. So he moved, got involved with activism, all of that. The same with Roma.

Basically, that whole growing movement, queer movement, in that time.

Going until the 80s, that's around when AIDS started to spread. At the time, it was called GRID.

OH! Gay-related immunodeficiency (disease). There we go. Wow. Forgot the R for a moment. Anyway.

Night III jumps to 10 years later, in the 90s. Night III happens during the 90s, 1992, 1997, around that.

That's when Cleve Jones created the AIDS quilt and put it on the White House lawn.

Going to ACT UP, more political activism, Human Rights Campaign.

All of that, the establishment of organizations, more political activism than protests.

Night IV starts in the 2000s, 2008—I remember 2008 specifically, but a bit before that like 2006, 2008.

…to 2015, ending in 2015. That section follows Prop 8 in California, Prop 8.

For making homosexuality illegal (excuse me being extreme), banning people from marrying, all of that.

The protests, Supreme Court overturning Prop 8, saying it's unconstitutional. All of that.

Obama signing papers. All of that.

It ends in 2015 when Supreme Court declared marriage is legal for everyone. That's when it ends.

Okay now that is a basic summary. Now my thoughts on it… Um.

Night I and II, a little of III, but Night I and II were really specific, in depth.

It actually had details of how things happened.

OH! I want to mention, all of the people I mentioned - Cleve, Roma, Ken - all were consultants on this.

Like, the real people were consultants on this show, so it's not like they made up the story.

No, they had the real people tell their story, and made a movie from it - I mean a series from it.

I feel a little bit…

The beginning had good details, was actually interesting but then starting around Night III, I felt mm… I don't know.

It could have been done a little bit better.

And it doesn't help that it had a different director for each of the four parts. So… That complicates things.

Night III and IV felt really superficial, not very in-depth.

The plot wasn't—yes, it's real life events but it didn't really add that many really touching, REAL stories so…

It felt a little bit lacking at the end. But… Overall, it's a good basic overview at history.

So yeah, I would recommend you watch it but only if you have a lot of time [laughs]

because each part is about a hour and halfish. Because of the two parts thing, so.

Yeah that is my…

I don't really have that many thoughts about it because I feel a little meh about it, the ending part of it.

Overall, good. I'm going to go ahead and move on.

Because of time, I just looked and oh it's already seven minutes, eight minutes. Moving on.

Moonlight. Really good! I watched it just two days ago, it's on Amazon Prime if you want to watch it.

It's so good. It deserves that Oscar.

It was a little bit unexpected. It's split into three chapters.

The whole thing focuses on one person, mostly his story.

The first chapter is when he's about 10 years old, I think 10? Second is around high school, so 16, 17?

The third part is in his 30s? 30s? Early 30s, late 20s? And… it is good.

One thing that I really liked is that they never actually SAID gay. They were vague.

He could be gay, he could be bi, he could be queer. But there was no specific labeling, "I am gay." Nothing.

I liked that. I liked that they left it ambiguous.

No, really it's good. I would definitely recommend you watch it.

I don't want to tell you too much because I want you to watch it, it's really good.

Okay, now Gender Revolution. It's…It has a connection. I have the DVD from National Geographic.

And I also have the magazine. I bought this in the store, because I don't have a National Geographic subscription.

But if you have a subscription, that specific issue will have a different cover.

That cover will be of a trans girl with very pink hair, you can find it online.

But yeah, I got that magazine when it was first released because I was like, I need this.

It…is fascinating, really good. And then this is, it's a little bit, hmm.

It's interesting because this is not, it's kind of like a documentary but it's with Katie Couric.

She travels the country, talking with people who are in different parts related to this,

like intersex, trans, whatever. And… I think it's good.

But I'm really, really disappointed that the special features don't have captions. They almost never do.

I'm always pleasantly surprised when they do actually have subtitles. But this doesn't.

So that's a little unfortunate. I'm hoping to maybe look online and find them with subtitles but. Anyway.

This is good because Katie Couric, she is learning in this, during this, she's learning about gender,

how people relate with it, about intersex, about trans people, all of that. So I thought that was cool.

But it's a lot of stuff that if you are trans, or if you are intersex,

or you have a good understanding of gender, this is nothing really new.

So I would recommend this to people who are struggling with understanding gender, and the magazine too.

The magazine is probably better because you can read at your own pace.

And the magazine has a little bit more specifics in it about certain things. So. Yeah.

That was a really, really quick overview.

What I would recommend most of these three, Moonlight.

[trying to figure out a better way of signing moonlight] Anyway. That's what I would recommend the most.

Watch that first, hands down. Watch that first, if you haven't already.

If you have, comment below and let me know what you thought of it. Okay.

Yeah, I'm already at 12 minutes, and I don't want to edit. [text: Still edited a bit lol] So I'm going to shut up now.

I do want to add one more thing. Spoiler warning! Spoiler alert for Madam Secretary.

If you watch that TV show, and you haven't caught up on all the recent episodes,

and you don't want to be spoiled, stop now. [text: Jump to 14:00]

But the last episode of the most recent season, I think season three? Anyway, it's online.

There is one character that came out as bi. Aaaaaahhh! Finally!

In media, in general, there aren't really any good representations of bi characters. Bi specifically, bi.

Gay—yeah, we still don't really have good representation for "mainstream sexualities" --

gay, lesbian, trans (not a sexuality!). It's still ehh representation for those, but bi people? Pfft forget it.

They don't get representation for them. So.

When I saw that they had someone come out and say they are bi, ah, yes!

And the way they did it, beautiful. It wasn't… It was done really well, did it really well.

So far, it's only this character to Madam Secretary. No coming out to their co-workers.

Oh yeah, I didn't say who the character was! The character is Blake Moran.

The whole series, people think he's gay, he looks gay. But no, he's bi. So I'm like yes!

Thank you for making him bi, not gay. Thank you!

Okay I'm approaching 15 minutes, so I'm going to stop now.

Thanks for watching, let me know all your thoughts about all of this down below. And yeah.
