before you started today's video look at Rocco's sitting right there
that's his spot! there's dogs outside barking and he's like it's like a
symphony to him! hello guys and girls and welcome back today I'm going to be doing
a little deep dive Review, my opinion and Tutorial with the Urban Decay Jean Michel Basquiat
Makeup Collection and if I'm mispronouncing his name I am so sorry I looked it up
you know and I have to be totally honest I was not familiar with this artist
before this makeup collaboration with Urban Decay I think that's the brilliance of
something like this is that it can bring art to the masses they can get people
inspired and interested in artists that they might not have ever heard of now we
could argue about the commercialism of that type of thing but I also want you
to keep in mind that most art is something that usually only millionaires
and billionaires can afford and so a lot of average everyday folks don't really
know about these artists and so this is you know is this an attempt to make
money of course but is this just like a growth cash grab no I don't think so
this is beautifully done this collaboration does seem to honor his art
and there's some really cool elements to it this is the Vault it is in a beautiful
beautiful box which feels like canvas which is quite cool on the back there's
this little notch here where you can hang it so this is literally boom done
cut it up it's art you open the box and on the inside is one of his iconic
paintings love this actually I almost want to cut the box out so I can put
this one up it's beautiful on the inside you have all the products there are two
eyeshadow palettes Gold Griot which has neutral type colors and Tenant which has bright
type colors there's the Gallery Blush palette, three eyeliners which I'm so excited
about and three lipsticks so we're going to go ahead and just start grabbing
products out of here first I'm gonna share with you guys today is Gold Griot
this is an absolutely stunningly beautiful palette palette is absolutely
beautifully just going to stare this put it out as display it's beautiful it has
the crown emblem here which is actually a plastic piece that helps you open it
because this is actually like a little box as opposed to just like a cardboard
flip top it does have a mirror on the inside and I love that it opens all the
way like this yes thank you Urban Decay I love this
because it's so much easier to hold a palette or even to have it out on your
vanity I really actually like the shape and the size and everything of this
palette I hope that this is a shape that they will do again it's really
convenient to use the way that it opens on the top here and everything it comes
with a brush on one side there's like a little stubby like pencil type brush and
on the other side it's like a very tight blending style brush really excited to
play with the colors in this palette they are neutral and cool and warm so
it's a really great earth tone eyeshadow palette I'm super excited about this
Navy oh I just realized that these also have a little back detail oh my god see
this is what I'm talking about like little details like this just absolutely
make or break a collaboration like this you can literally hang this on your wall
art you know what I think I'm going to I'm going to be that girl you just watch
alright guys so here they are my wall yes I did I as promised I did in fact
hanging them and I think they look pretty cool I'm going to leave them
there actually we would love to see more companies come out with a box shape like
this where it's hang Abul because could you imagine like a cool gallery wall of
like all pallets right there that would be awesome
I also under let you guys know that on Sephora calm these are now on sale like
the entire jean-michel basquiat collection is on sale so to make sure
you guys were aware of that in case you were thinking about picking something up
they're only like $27 for the eyeshadow palettes I think 24 for the blush
palette the eyeliners are fortune actually picked up some backups because
those are my favorite so yeah I just want to kind of close you guys in the
next palette is the Tennant palette which also has a little back section
here has the crown beautiful artwork just gorgeous we have the mirror again
this one is a landscape mirror Russian this one is a little bit different it
has a shader side and then a very tiny like detailed or like email under
eyeliner brush or whatever but I like that there's two different brushes if
you buy both palettes you're not getting doubles of the same brush I really
really appreciate that so this one has your more bold colors I'm looking at
this this is exactly up my alley if you look at all of my tutorials from like
2009 2010 there are always these kinds of colors so really excited to play with
these these looks so right by Ali and yet we have another Navy not
the same shade of Navy though that would be repetitive and redundant what you
have in this one is like a bright poppy like more like a true blue Navy and in
this one it's almost like a darkened like purple maybe
oh really excited then we get to the gallery blush palette how beautiful is
this just and again it has little holes in the back so you can hang it love that
feature I think that's so like clever and creative so this one appears to have
mostly cool tones these are quite cool but I feel like if I mixed it with this
I could warm these up and change the tone and then a beautiful highlight
which i think would work fast like medium skin tones probably gonna be a
little bit too dark for my skin I don't know play around that we'll see oh the
lipsticks in this set I'm really really down for and you know it's funny because
when I first like saw these online I've Layana only know about those colors but
then I saw them in person when hammering around so this is the first one this is
called abstract and once again you have the wrapped canvas look to the packaging
it's still the general shape of Urban Decay lipsticks but they have dozens
great treatment on them and love the feeling and the texture and everything
so this is abstract which is a great like kind of mousy nude if you will for
me I don't know that this is the color that would work on me unless I have like
a lot of makeup on the next one is called epigram and this one is quite
beautiful BEC this one almost matches my top beautiful terracotta lipsticks very
excited about this one and I think it would look so beautiful on women of
color and people with a medium skin tone as well as people with fair skin so
that's kind of a tall order final lipstick is exhibition I really like the
black and white look to this and might be a lot of Mac's up the amp lipstick
really excited about this one simply the kind of like muted plum that would be
sell flattering on so many different skin tones
epically excited about all of these final piece of this collection are the
24/7 glide on pencil the first is post-punk I know I know I
know I've always wanted over in decay to have this color another do the next one
is vivid which is a blue and then the final one is anatomy
which is a color I didn't even know that I wanted beautiful again it kind of goes
with my top now is the time to play so the first things first is to put a
primer all over my eyelid so I'm going to be using their new eyeshadow primer
in six which is a bit yellow so we'll see how this works out
I like using a synthetic brush to apply them because I don't like getting my
fingers dirty so for my eyeshadow brushes today I'm going to be using
primarily the white new wing cos I brush set because I want to test it out so if
you haven't seen my review of these brushes already it will have it linked
in the description bar down below for you to watch I'm feeling very much like
using the Tennant palette and it just really excited going for like a very
like old-school coral look which is really weird to talk about yourself in
the third person but whatever 1960 this beautiful pink on a wing cost 17 and
just pop that in my wow that's a lot more vibrant that I thought it was going
to be okay I really thought there's going to be
like a soft pink that's pretty vibrant once you actually get it on the skin
okay I'm just buffing that I haven't added any more product blends out really
quite nicely so I'm a Wayne Goss Nate teens a bit more it's very similar to
the pencil style like blending brush that comes with the urban decay kit and
I'll place that more like in the deep crease and I'll end it up a bit but not
as quite diffused as I did with the pink
and then to blend that out further I'll pick up the other larger brush so I'm
not just like massing around a lot of color so to really deepen that up I'm
going to use Navy from this palette this is called untitled
whoa you guys I'm really really impressed with these Wow Wow Wow okay
I'm going to use the burst I had the purple lift to diffuse that out
ah digging it M going to grab a bit more of the pink just because they don't want
that to start to get too low and that purple definitely be prominent so so
kind of act as like a medium between the blue and the purple so as a base or lid
I'm going to use post-punk I'm just going to paint that on debatable whether
this is even necessary since these eyeshadows are like hollow pigmented but
I really like the way that looks
mm-hmm but next thing I take Xu and replace that all over or I place the
liner oh wow this one has a fabulous texture fabulous fabulous you know
what's best show neon shadows have just a little bit of grit or Thai grit that's
a bad term like grip to them as you're applying them now I know I'm putting
this over a liner as well I can tell that this eyeshadow because sometimes
like when you put like a really powdery kind of cheap shit I shadow over a base
or something it's still just kind of like you know this has an example zu
that we're looking for in a quality eyeshadow so I'm just going to pass that
on
you can see I mean it's covering up the liner that we had on before so it's
definitely pigmented I'm going to take the little pencil brush and I'm going to
use that in boom I'm going to put it I know I want to use it I'm not really
sure where I want to put it here and then I'll grab this little guy to blend
it out I like how blending boom in on the lid
creates more of like a grassy green color if I winged off 18 just to blend
in between the two because this is a little bit softer than the Urban Decay
brushes and I grab this color this is levitation sort of a neutral shade I'm
going to use that to blend out the pink use studio from this palette to
highlight the brow bone I'm going to go for it might take boom on the small end
of this brush
I'm just going to add a little a couple extra details when take LS play and I'm
just gonna do gently it definitely seemed to have a lot of color impact but
that's actually kind of good for what I want is just to add a little bit of
depth at the outer corners just to make them recede back a little bit and to
remove the fallout and I'll be right back
for my foundation today I'm using the Smashbox photo finish primer all over my
face pretty good stuff expound ation today I'll be using the Make Up For Ever
Ultra HD stick and shades y2 1 5 and our 2 3 0 this is such an incredible
foundation it delivers incredible coverage for your skin and it doesn't
tend to make me break out it looks very like natural even though it's kind of
like full coverage it doesn't look like super caked on and I just like the way
that it looks in the way that it melts in with my skin for concealers day I use
the Naked skin concealer in the Sherrod's fair neutral and light neutral
the two together creates my perfect shade for powder today I'll be using my
new absolute favorite this one's from Ben Nyes the luxury powder in cameo the
Stephan's the bomb if you're pale you need it be using my Beauty Blender to
apply it a little bit of it in a petri dish or whatever the heck this thing is
I don't even I get asked about this little palette thing quite often
honestly I don't know where to secure one because a friend gave me mine that
my powders tend to be really great if you're sweaty or if your foundation
tends to break up a lot throughout the day this would be a great powder so your
sweaty Betty get on it you okay back there buddy
you okay you have to eat the sponge know your days we just don't want to bother
with your brows I don't feel like doing them that much so I'm just going to take
this a benefit gimme brow the like heavily pigmented brow gel I'm just
going to run that through my brazzers to give them a little bit of color a little
bit of shape and I'm really with that I don't feel like doing them confession
time I don't really know to do with eyeliner
okay guys so let this be a lesson to us what do what not to do when you royally
s up your eyeliner I mean I really screwed the pooch on this side it was
bad so I almost imploded the whole thing and
took all my makeup off but I decided to go ahead and play around with this side
a little bit I came up with something I really likes we're going to attempt to
color over this on this side so I already removed a bit of the shadow
obviously and all my other makeup and do some surgery to my face makeup first I'm
taking a bit of the cream makeup to Pat that I'm going to take in 1960 and just
bring that down a bit a combination of mio and united today outer crease trusty
blending brother-brother brush idiot it's my brother in blending
hopefully going to be covering the setup of the wing I'm just going to diffuse
that out right there I did black liner on this side and hate in it so I ended
up covering it up with the economy liner and this is bomb it goes right over the
black so pigmented some do the exactly the same way on this side just go over
the black liner I actually just drew and ones that you
know well guys I actually really really really like the way that this draw the
wing I've never done to my knowledge anyway a winged liner with a pencil but
it's not half bad okay so there's that next I'm going to take a razor sharp
liner from Urban Decay this is retrograde it's a nice sparkly
purple and I'm going to go over like the top edge of the like kind of rustic
color
it's not perfect I'm going to cover a boo-boo but I'm so good next a little
wonky but it's workable you're fixing boo-boos no just have to go with it and
then I'm taking a post-punk which is like the MVP today right put the
underneath where we have
I'm so closing my eye and following that line up my inner room with that very
yellow in the interim it shows up less green now my lower lashline I'm going to
take vivid
we extend that out join this party as well let it go for another path of
post-punk cause it's showing up really yellow and like it to look a little bit
more green I don't think it's possible though so I think what's happening is
that in a room it's naturally a little bit on the red side and that because it
has a bit of a yellow tone sort of neutralizing out to the yellow the
Greens not really popping out I'm going to apply the Clinique high impact
curling mascara which is my favourite and then I'm darkening my lashes so I'm
not going for a bold lash like today because I really want this eyeliner work
to stand out I went ahead and put the mascara on the bottom sorry did it off
camera it's kind of awkward so then I come here and do something else it's
awkward I'm lighting light inner rim this black liner this is perversion from
Urban Decay's my absolute favorite love the way the eyes came out so let's go
ahead and do it some fun stuff with blush I am grabbing the gallery blush
palette and I'm really thinking that I want to use this really bright poppy one
do I be a little bit too much for me so I'm going to mix that in with jawbone
let me go x-rated I'm going to bump into jawbone beautiful yummy yummy Iijima
my highlight I'm going to use my My Little Pony brush and glamour doll
makeup and I'm going to try the now's the time highlighter I'm a feeling this
is going to be too intense
hmmm very gold it doesn't look bad actually I'm going to use the same
eyeliner that I used up here on my eye the retrograde liner doesn't when my
freckle as I always do or at least when I can remember then we're going to need
a lip we're just going to go for the pink so this is exhibition way more
intense on than it is in d2 but I dig it I look at first like youthful lipstick
you know like just nothing quite like smearing a fresh tube all over it so
here at the look I'm going to zoom it in for you what a little crazies are they
in terms of an actual review of the jean-michel basquiat collection with
Urban Decay color me impressed I am so excited about these and I know excited
it's like the most overused word here on YouTube but I am chaffed to use some
British slang I just think that the quality is fantastic I'm really really
impressed with that most of all and Urban Decay is my favorite brand so when
I say this I say it with love but they have had some palettes when her they're
just not that exciting you know which ones I'm talking about or they'll come
out with a pail that's like all shimmer and well that's really awesome and it
has a great use I love it like the moondust palette bomb love it for what
it is I look at that as like a tool list as like a palette I could just make a
create or make make a create really that I could create a look from where it was
something like this it was just like instantaneous what I wanted to do with
it and I feel much the same way about the neutral palette which I didn't get a
chance to use in today's video let me know how strongly you want to see a
tutorial with this because I can make it happen I'm blown away with the quality
it's spent dick so if you are kind of on the fence
you're kind of like well you know a lot of indicate pants don't really deliver
hello this was awesome and also the blush palette is great I don't have a
ton of Urban Decay flashes so it was kind of cool to get a whole big haul up
of them right here in the gallery blush palette loving this and love the
eyeliners oh my god all three of these eyeliners are the
bomb and they're so unique none of them are a color I have already
like even the blue is more of a sky-blue which I don't have exact to do for this
I don't have an exact dupe for autonomy actually I think I might pick up a
double of autonomy because I was feeling I'm going to rush through this one
pretty fast and I'd haven't bought a like backup of a makeup products in a
really long time post-punk is also super awesome and right up my alley I love her
truth so these are all pretty awesome and the lipsticks the lipstick the right
look the whole thing it's all good so that is my review of the Oh John Michell
Basquiat collection from Urban Decay's thank you for watching I'll see you guys
in my next video reberty vintage or tacky just be your
own kind of beautiful see you bye
