TJ DILLASHAW: I got to do it now or never, right?
So I'm kind of getting the feel of it
and it's all about the distance.
Yeah?
Yeah!
8 to 5 Garbrandt, Garbrandt serving.
Whenever you're ready, Cody.
TEAMMATE: TJ!
TJ, TJ, look at me.
TEAMMATE: Smooth, TJ, smooth.
Yeah!
TEAMMATE: Yeah!
Yeah!
Let's go!
Let's go!
Let's go!
Yeah!
CROWD: Yeah!
CODY GARBRANDT: The one when I went under and submerged
myself underwater, that was it.
I got back up there and it was different.
REFEREE: 8 to 6 Garbrandt, Dillashaw serving.
Whenever you're ready, TJ.
CODY GARBRANDT: The wind was blowing, I felt it in my ears,
kind of made me lose focus a little bit.
TEAMMATE: Let's go!
Hit it!
TEAMMATE: Go for the kill!
TEAMMATE: Let's go!
Yeah!
CROWD: Yeah!
Yeah!
CODY GARBRANDT: Once my hair was wet and out of place,
it was my kryptonite.
It's 8 to 7 Garbrandt, Garbrandt is serving.
RAMSAY: Oh, he's shook!
Win!
TEAMMATE: TJ, TJ, look at me.
Look at me, TJ!
TEAMMATE: Let's go!
Oh, oh, let's go!
Let's go! Let's go!
Let's go!
Come on, go, go, go!
TEAMMATE: That's how you fucking tetherball.
TJ DILLASHAW: Tied up, boom.
My team's on my back.
They got me.
I feel the momentum swing, and so do they.
REFEREE: It's tied up now, 8 to 8.
RAMSAY: He's shook, TJ!
You got him shook.
TEAMMATE: You got this, TJ!
Look at him, he's shook!
He's shook!
Once it evened up, I think Ramsay
started to talk some trash.
For some reason, Cody got offended by all these insults.
None of them truly made sense, but they were working.
RAMSAY: Hey, Uncle Uriah can't do shit now!
Oh, he's on this side!
Uncle what?
RAMSAY: Uncle Uriah, he ain't got shit to do now.
I'll beat your ass.
Oh, yeah, I'm scared.
Bro, you little punk ass bitch.
I'm scared.
I didn't even know, like, what I was really saying.
I was just kind of throwing out there, drinking a couple Buds,
and just talking shit at the game.
Maybe crossed a line or two with Cody, but it's funny, I think.
Pussy.
RAMSAY: Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
He's shook, baby.
He's shook.
There you go.
TEAMMATE: Let's go!
Let's go!
Let's go!
CROWD: Oh!
TJ DILLASHAW: It feels real good to be in the lead,
but it's not over.
I have to finish.
I can't let this epic comeback be ruined.
TEAMMATE: We're down to one more, TJ, one more!
He's shook, baby!
CODY GARBRANDT: I got this, I'm staying focused,
I'm trying to go smack Ramsay in his mouth, and, you know,
go celebrate with my team.
RAMSAY: Shook!
CROWD: [INAUDIBLE]!
REFEREE: TJ, you ready?
TEAMMATE: One more!
REFEREE: Cody, you ready?
Let's go!
TEAMMATE: Don't reach for it, don't reach.
Let it go.
There we go.
Let's go! There we go.
Come on!
There we go.
Come on. Come on.
Let it come to you. It'll come.
It'll come.
Come on, TJ.
Go!
Go, go, go!
Come on! Come on!
Come on!
Come on!
Yeah!
One more [INAUDIBLE] baby, bitch!
Yeah!
Yeah!
REFEREE: That's game!
TEAMMATE: Yeah, that's it, that's game.
TJ DILLASHAW: It feels real good to beat Cody.
You know, I had an epic comeback, six points straight.
Yeah, motherfucker!
TEAMMATE: That's good!
TJ DILLASHAW: But it feels even better to do the way I did.
You know, I mentally broke him.
I watched him give up.
You know what I mean?
Like, this is going to be perfect.
It's going to show exactly how I'm going to do in the fight,
I'm going to keep the pressure on him, I'm going to break him.
Hard work! CROWD: [INAUDIBLE]
Hard work! CROWD: [INAUDIBLE]!
Hard work!
CROWD: [INAUDIBLE]!
1, 2, 3!
CROWD: TJ!
I think it really was my hair being messed up,
it was my kryptonite.
Thank you. TEAMMATE: Yeah!
CROWD: [CHEERING]
TJ DILLASHAW: Hell yeah.

DANICA PATRICK: Hey!
Good to see you.
How are you?
Oh man.
Good to see you.
Congrats on an amazing season so far.
Yeah.
Behind that steering wheel, there's quite
a foodie in you, isn't there?
Oh, I love food.
The race prep, what do you eat?
What do you go through from start to finish?
Breakfast. Super important.
So for breakfast I had butternut squash, bison, spinach,
diced apple, half an avocado.
I love you.
- And then usually-- - Bison for breakfast?
Yeah. Ground bison.
Yeah.
Yeah, instead of beef. It's better.
Bison tastes better. - Lean.
Lean, lean lean. - Yeah.
Now, you know I'm quite competitive.
I know.
So I'm going to look after the crew, but I want--
I need to get on that track.
Are you saying that you want to try it out?
I've been qualifying with a 23:16.
If you could come within 20 seconds of that
I would be impressed.
I would also ask that they had ambulances on both sides
of the track then.
Just because.
I'm not that bad.
I'm trying to set the expectations
low so you can exceed them.
- Good luck. - OK.
- Break a leg. - All right.
Good luck, Danica.
- Thank you. - Take care.
Thanks, darling.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Before the hardcore NASCAR fans
file into the stadium, I'm going to see if I can live up
to Danica's challenge and make it around the track
in less than 30 seconds.
F word.
Stands for fast.
[engine roaring]
[music playing]
Whew.
That was incredible.
Please tell me it's good news.
About 29 seconds.
That's not bad.
No, that's not bad. Good.
But room for improvement.
Yeah.
Room for improvement.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): In Danica's work,
she is the head chef, but just like any restaurant,
I know she has the most amazing, hardworking crew behind her.
I can't wait to meet these guys.
- Good morning. - Good morning, Gordon.
Good to see you.
How prolific is timing for you?
100%.
These guys got about 11 seconds to do four tires and anywhere
up to 18 gallons of fuel.
ENGINES ROARING AND TOOLS AT WORK
So, just like any restaurant, timing is of the essence.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): I'm fast in the kitchen.
Can I be fast in the pits?
We're going to let you glue up this set over here.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Lug nuts on.
Bloody hell.
Monster tires moved.
You're going to hold that trigger wide open
and just go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Air gun primed.
[air gun whining and laughter]
Man, that's hard.
If I were to [bleep] compare that to cooking you'd be
working at McDonald's, bud.
[laughter]
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): These guys work hard to keep
Danica at top speed.
Now it's my turn to fuel them up with a delicious meal.
I'm going to make an amazing breakfast.
Quick, easy, simple.
And you're going to help with a smoothie.
All right.
So we're taking some of the local crab
and turning that into an amazing omelette.
[music playing]
Onions, peppers, hash, nuts.
Get it 2/3 cooked and then we'll throw in the crab.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Topped
with creme fraiche and chives.
[music slows to a stop]
Got to watch carefully, because you're doing this next.
Oh no. [laughs]
Just like you did to me with those nuts.
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Plate and serve
with a nutrient rich smoothie.
Aye, breakfast of champions.
So healthy, delicious, quite rich, but tasty.
Cheers.
If we don't win, you can't blame the breakfast.
Absolutely not.
Promise?
GORDON RAMSAY (VOICEOVER): Breakfast done.
Off to the starting line.
ANNOUNCER: And now, for the most famous words in motor sports,
please welcome Gordon Ramsay!
Drivers, start your engines.
[MUSIC PLAYING AND ENGINES
STARTING]
Right.
New friends, fast cars, delicious food, and
a perfect day at a NASCAR race.
Time for me to head back to the "F Word" restaurant.

THE STATE HOUSE -- HE
ALMOST DOUBLED HIS SALARY.
BUT TARGET 12 INVESTIGATOR
TIM WHITE HAS UNCOVERED
THAT MONTANARO -- DIDN'T
GIVE UP HIS JOB AT RIC
COMPLETELY.
HE GOT LEAVE TO PROTECT
STATUS FOR THREE YEARS.
THAT STATUS IS NORMALLY
ONLY GIVEN FOR SIX MONTHS.
WHICH GIVES STATE WORKERS
THE RIGHT TO GET BACK THEIR

OUT A NEW ONE.
"when I decided to come here, I
didn't know if I was going to

MONTANARO HAS RECEIVED 12

his top aide."
WEDNESDAY NIGHT -- WE
HEARD FROM SPEAKER
MATTIELLO.
HIS DIRECTOR OF

QUOTE,
"Speaker Mattiello has learned
that
there is a question regarding an
employee who utilized a college
tuition waiver benefit. He
believes
the Administration should
comprehensively review the
tuition
waiver policy and consider
limiting
who is eligible for it."
"It's a benefit afforded to me
as a
Rhode Island college employee."
EVEN THOUGH HE HASN'T
WORKED IN THE HIGHER
EDUCATION SYSTEM FOR
THREE YEARS --
MONTANARO INSISTS HE WAS
JUST FOLLOWING THE
PROCESS.
(CG)
MONTANARO'S LEAVE AT
RIC ENDED ON MAY 31.
SO HE WILL BE PAYING HIS
SON'S TUITION MOVING
FORWARD.
BUT WHEN TIM WHITE
ASKED HIM TODAY IF HE

MONTANARO SAID HE

Westerville puts moratorium on medical marijuana business - Duration: 3:35.
QUESTIONING THE VICTIM'S FAMILY
AND NEIGHBORS.
MIKE: OPENING THE DOOR
TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN OHIO.
TONIGHT, THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
JUST ANNOUNCED, ITS INTENT TO
WORK WITH THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA
COMMUNITY-- MONTHS AFTER A STATE
LAW WAS PASSED.
MIKE: THANK YOU FOR
STAYING UP WITH US FOR NBC4 AT
11PM. I'M MIKE JACKSON-- COLLEEN
HAS THE EVENING OFF. THIS
IS IN CONTRAST TO HOW SEVERAL
OTHER COMMUNITIES, THROUGHOUT
CENTRAL OHIO HAVE RESPONDED TO
THE LOOMING LEGALIZATION OF THE
DRUG FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES. JASON
AUBRY IS LIVE IN WESTERVILLE,
TONIGHT-- WHERE THAT COMMUNITY
JUST PASSED A SIX MONTH
MORATORIUM. JASON?
JASON: IN AN UNEXPECTED
MOVE LAST NIGHT, THE COUNCIL
FAST TRACKED THE MORATORIUM -
PASSING IT UNANIMOUSLY.
JASON: SINCE LAST SUMMER
COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE
HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO BAN OR
MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES
IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. BRIAN
WRIGHT IS THE EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR OF THE OHIO CANNABIS
ASSOCIATION, HE BELIEVES
COMMUNITIES ARE MAKING A
MISTAKE.
BRIAN WRIGHT: "UNFORTUNATELY, I
THINK IT'S DONE WITHOUT AN
UNDERSTANDING OF HOW CAREFULLY
THE STATE HAS BEEN WORKING
THROUGH THIS PROCESS." THE MOST
RECENT COMMUNITY TO PUT A
MORATORIUM IN PLACE IS
WESTERVILLE. TUESDAY NIGHT, THE
COUNCIL SUSPENDED NORMAL RULES
AND VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO PUT A
SIX MONTH HOLD ON DISPENSARIES.
KATHY COCUZZI:"I THINK
SOMETIMES PEOPLE SEE THE
NEGATIVE SIDE OF A MORATORIUM,
FOR US IT'S JUST A TIME PERIOD
WHERE WE CAN COME UP WITH THE
BEST ANSWERS FOR OUR COMMUNITY."
WESTERVILLE IS NOT ALONE IN
SEEKING A MORATORIUM --
GROVEPORT AND HILLIARD RECENTLY
PASSED ONE, AND NEWARK IS IN THE
PROCESS OF DOING SO. MEANWHILE,
CANAL WINCHESTER, WORTHINGTON,
AND PATASKALA HAVE BANS IN
PLACE, WITH DUBLIN AND POWELL IN
THE PROCESS OF DOING THE SAME.
WRIGHT WARNS, SIX MONTH
MORATORIUMS LIKE WESTERVILLE'S
MAY END UP COSTING THOSE
COMMUNITIES MONEY.
BRIAN WRIGHT: "WE'RE LOOKING AT
BUSINESSES, LEGITIMATE BUSINESS
OWNERS THAT ARE LOOKING TO
INVEST MILLIONS. IF THERE IS A
COMMUNITY OUT THERE THAT SEEMS
HESITANT, RESISTANT, MAYBE HAS A
NEGATIVE APPROACH TO THIS, YOU
KNOW, THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE
LOOKING TO INVEST IN THAT
COMMUNITY." STILL, CITIES NEED
TIME TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS IN
ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE THESE
NEW BUSINESSES, AND WESTERVILLE
SAYS, IF THEIR RESIDENTS WANT A
DISPENSARY THEY HAVE A LOT OF
WORK TO DO.
KATHY COCUZZI: "A ZONING CODE
CHANGE THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO DO,
AND DECIDE WHERE THESE PLACES
WOULD BE GOOD IN THE CITY, AND
THE MORE TIME WE HAVE FOR THAT
THE BETTER."
JASON: MAYOR COCUZZI TELLS
ME SHE HAS NOT HEARD FROM ANY
WESTERVILLE RESIDENTS ON THE
ISSUE OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA
DISPENSARIES. SHE IS ASKING THEM
TO ATTEND CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS
AND SPEAK UP IF THEY HAVE AN
OPINION SO CITY LEADERS CAN TAKE
APPROPRIATE ACTION.
LIVE IN WESTERVILLE, JASON AUBRY
NBC 4
MIKE: THANK YOU,
JASON...
MIKE: JOHNSTOWN HOPES
TO MAKE A LOT OF "GREEN" FROM
THIS INDUSTRIAL PARK.,THE FUTURE
HOME OF IT'S POTENTIAL MEDICAL
MARIJUANA PARK. WITH MULTIPLE
BUSINESSES BIDDING TO GROW ON
THIS LAND, THE VILLAGE SAYS THIS
IS A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. LAST
MONTH, THE STATE BEGAN ACCEPTING
APPLICATIONS TO ALLOW
24 BUSINESSES TO GROW AND
CULTIVATE MEDICAL MARIJUANA.
JIM LENNER: "I THINK WE HAVE
ABOUT 6 PROPERTIES IN CONTRACT.
DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION AND
HOW WELL THEY DO ON THE SCORING
RUBRIC AT THE STATE LEVEL WE
COULD END UP WITH 6 CULTIVATORS
IN THE VILLAGE."
MIKE: TO ATTRACT
BUSINESSES, THE VILLAGE HAS
DECIDED TO TAX GROWERS A ONE-
PERCENT SALES TAX-- COMPETING
WITH SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES
TAXING AT TWO-PERCENT. THE LAW
ALLOWS LEVEL ONE GROWERS TO
GROWN UP TO 25- THOUSAND SQUARE
FEET OF PLANTS. LEVEL TWO

Arewa controversy: Saraki reacts to threats against the Igbos - Duration: 8:44.
Arewa controversy: Saraki reacts to threats against the Igbos
- Senator Bukola Saraki has lashed out at the Arewa youths over hate comments against Igbos. - The Senate president says the Igbos are Nigerians and have the rights to settle wherever they deem fit.
- Saraki warned that the government must begin to take a critical look at the causes of the agitations around the country. Nigerias Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to threats and rising ethnic agitations in the northern part of the country.
The leader of the Nigerian parliament called on Nigerians to tolerate each other and display understanding. Saraki says Nigerias greatest strength lies in her numbers and as such, the nationss unity must be guarded jealously.
Saraki spoke when the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, led by its Chairman, Rev. Yakubu Pam, visited him at the National Assembly in Abuja.
"Let me through you appeal to all our people for tolerance and understanding. I want to appeal that we preach tolerance.
I believe that it is our responsibility as leaders, to impress on our people to be very tolerant and let us seek unity," Saraki's Special Assistant on Print Media, Chuks Okocha, quoted him as saying.
"We also wish to appeal to everybody that we should in our speeches and actions work for the unity of the country, because you made reference to some of the issues but this is not about who is right or who is wrong, we should always ask ourselves that what can we do to unite our people and mend the fault lines.
"This is very important.
I am hopeful, that we are only going through these challenges because of the state of our economy and I believe by the time the economic recovery plan of the present administration begins to yield fruits, some of these issues will fizzle out," Saraki said.
Saraki said: "I believe by the time we address the economy, by the time we get the economy right, it will eliminate all these tension.
Until we get there, we must make sure that we have a country where we are all working together.
"Let me assure you that things that are of concern to you are also of concern to us. And the 8th Senate has shown that in most of our deliberations, we put Nigeria first.
The challenges we have in Nigeria are not selective as to which part of the country a person comes from.
"The economic challenges do not discriminate against Muslims or Christians, nor do they favour Northerners against Southerners. I think with that, there are lessons. The economic hardship affect all of us and we must unite to jointly eliminate those challenges.
"However, we should not lose faith because as religious leaders your disposition affect will affect your followers. You must have faith that this country belongs to all of us. We all have rights. We will ensure that we respect that.
We must have faith that this country will continue to grow from strength to strength. I plead for your understanding and tolerance," he said.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Rev Pam, expressed concern over the series of agitations by some interest groups who are calling for restructuring and raising allegations of marginalization.
"I heard this morning that some people are asking some people to leave the Northern part of the country. This kind of comments and utterances should not be encouraged.
"To us, the hour has come for government to take a second look at the causes of these agitations so that all sides can be given a sense of belonging in the scheme of things in the country.
We need all hands to be joined together to move this country forward," he said. Saraki has outrightly condemned the hate statement made by Arewa youths, saying such statements cannot be condoned in Nigeria.
Regarding the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers. Rev.
Pam said: "Cattle rearing is a private business and as such herders should be educated on the modern way of handling their cattle rearing business so that their cattle should not be let loose into farms of the locals in different parts of the country in order to put an end to frequent clashes between the herdsmen and the local farmers".
The Northern CAN President called on the National Assembly to pass a law that would guarantee freedom of worship for all faiths and re-introduction of religious education in the school curriculum, even as he appealed to the that the Senate to intervene to stop attacks on places of worship in some parts of the Northern states.
The cleric also lamented the incidence of forced marriages against under aged girls, saying, "We want to make an appeal that the Senate should look into this social problem so that it would not lead to break down of law and order in some parts of the country especially from those considered to be victims of this social malaise".
In a similar vein, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the quit notice issued to Igbos in the north by a coalition of northern youths describing it as a threat to national security.
NAIJ. com had reported that a group named, the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY) on Tuesday, June 6, issued a statement ordering Igbo people in the north to vacate Northern Nigeria within 3 months.
It was learnt that learnt that the group also urged northern people in the south-eastern part of the country to immediately start moving back to their various states.
The group threatened that from the 1st October, 2017, it will begin to prove to the whole world the north was no longer part of any federal union that should do with the Igbos.
Atiku via his official twitter page said the country is too precious and has pressing issues to attend to than the divisive statement of the northern youths.
The All Progressives Congress chieftain also criticised an Igbo group that also issued a counter-statement asking Igbos to return to the south east region while also ordering the northerners out of their state.
Following their controversial statement urging Igbos to leave the north, the Arewa youths are about to taste the wrath of the 19 northern governors.
Northern governors have called for the arrest of the Arewa youths who made the controversial statements against Igbos.
Governors of the nineteen northern States on Wednesday, June 7, disowned the coalition of Arewa Youths. Borno Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum, Kashim Shettima, spoke on behalf of his colleagues in Maiduguri.
The Governors said they were in touch with heads of security agencies and had taken measures that will guarantee the rights of all Nigerians to live in the 19 States in the three geo-political zones, within the north.
The Governors also called on security agencies to arrest the youths and probe the motive behind the call, saying the call by the youths was a suspicious act that fell in line with recent trend of arms catch, coup rumours which may not be coincidental.

Fancy Feast Classic Collection by Leona Edmiston 2017 - Duration: 1:44.
I'm Leona Edmiston and I'm here with the Fancy Feast team. I'm excited to talk
about the new Autumn / Winter Classic Collection. For this range I've selected
three prints very eclectic and very unique in their own way. The Nouveau
print was designed in the 70s, but very much influenced by the Art Nouveau
period and William Morris. We're doing the Cat Bed again this collection
because it was that absolute favourite last time and once again they can sleep
in style. We've introduced the first toy in the Classic Collection, designed in
the Poppy Print. It's a beautiful vibrant playful print and we've adapted
it slightly for the Cat Scratcher and the Cat Tunnel for all those playful
cats to enjoy. We've added a new item in the collection, the Cat Scratcher, because
we know it's very much a part of their natural behaviour and we've adapted the
Poppy Print and makes it work.
Grooming is the perfect way to bond with your cat so we've added in the Cat Brush
with a beautiful drawstring bag in the Ditsy Bouquet. The Ditsy Bouquet was designed
in the 1960s and once again a very playful fun print.
I've really enjoyed working on this latest collection
and I hope you and your cat loves it too.

Chirp
Even the sound of breathing
Is completely shrouded by the rain
In this chirpless morning
Sketching you while it was still yesterday
I wish I could have preserved all of you through drawing
Gently chirp into the ears
Of the me who's a terrible waker
Wake me up with a "good morning", please
It's fine if I don't laugh, right
It's fine if I am crying, right
Without returning a reply
You continue to fly away
Peck me today as well
Bite me until it hurts
You see, once more, just once more
Let's play together
I have grown up by so much
That I can lull you to sleep with this palm now
The first time you pecked my finger
The wound that opened from it, I wonder where it had gone
I am still searching for you, you know
Let me say to you "welcome home", please
Hey, just for today
It's fine if I don't smile, right
It's fine if I am crying, right
I'll treasure you dearly so, please
Please don't go
For not being able to do anything
For not being reliable, I'm sorry
I'm about to cry again
I'm sorry
I don't have any wings
But you're (still) going to leave, aren't you
Without the sound of your chirps resounding
Dawn breaks
Thank you!

How Chief Obafemi Awolowo dethroned the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Adeyemi Adeniran who married 200 wives in - Duration: 14:34.
How Chief Obafemi Awolowo dethroned the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi Adeniran who married 200 wives in 1955
- Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the political leader of the old western region of Nigeria was not a friend to the old Alaafin of Oyo, oba Adeymi Adeniran.
- Oba Adeyemi was playing friendship with the NCNC an opposition party to the Action Group, a party set up by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. - Following his support for the NCNC, a rival party, Awolowo plotted his dethronement in 1955.
Power is no doubt an intoxicating factor in the lives of many – men and women alike. This is really the reason many come out on different platforms in different levels of the society to hustle for it.
Eventually though not many are able to effectively handle and maneuver through it.
That is why it is said that most men can stand in the face of adversity, but the true test of a man is the way he acts when he is given power.
The struggle for supremacy is nothing new to man, and in the history of Nigeria, there has been such tussles, with different parties trying to show their superiority; political leaders, pressure groups and even traditional rulers.
One of such tussles was what led to the deposing and unceremonious de-stooling of the Oba Adeyemi Adeniran II.
In the pre-colonial times, the Oyo Empire was headed by the Alaafin in a monarchical system where the only functional check on his usage of powers was Oyomesi council.
The coming of the colonialists changed it to a form of indirect rule where the Britons ruled via the instituted system.
However, this system was again tampered with after the exit of the colonialists following a clash of powers between the Oba and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Oba Adeyemi II, who succeeded his father Oba Adeyemi I Alowolodu, ascended the stool in 1945 and reigned for about a decade before his abrupt and unexpected dethronement in July 1955.
When in 1950, Obafemi Awolowo established the Action Group promising freedom from British rule, disease, ignorance and want for all those who followed him, particularly the westerners.
The Alaafin was one of the few highly placed men of the Yoruba extraction who did not go along with him. The Oba did not, in any way, hide the fact that he was a fan of Dr.
Nnamdi Azikwe and by extension the National Council of Nigerians and the Cameroons (NCNC).
This was the beginning of the rift between Awolowo who was the national president of the newly formed party which was thought to project the interest of westerners and the Alaafin who was the undisputed supreme ruler of the Yoruba race.
Based on the regional ties, the Northern People's Congress (NPC) dominated the North, the National Council of Nigerians and the Cameroons (NCNC) dominated the East, while Action Group (AG) had the West as their home zone.
This means that the Oba's support for the NCNC, a rival party, gave them an edge over the AG which was supposed to dominate this region; and this resulted in his being unable to gather any coalition of voters large enough to win a federal election.
This was of course, something Awolowo would not tolerate, as it was not just an affront to his person, but threatened the base of the AG, his political brain-child.
When the Egbe Omo Yoruba association was formed by some prominent Yoruba sons in 1953, and the Alaafin was named grand patron, this threat became magnified.
With his dual position, Oba Adeyemi II personally campaigned for the NCNC during the local government elections in 1954.
This was a contradiction to what the Oba had done during the 1951 elections when he was still close buddies with the Action Group allies, where he had supported the Bode Thomas, who was the deputy leader of Action Group, and Abiodun Akerele in their bid for the regional house of assembly.
Sequel to that election, Bode Thomas became the chairman of the Oyo divisional native authority controlling the town of Oyo and the hinterlands, while Abiodun Akerele became the chairman of Oyo southern district native authority, both of which were hitherto controlled by the royal stool.
Furious over the attitude of the Alaafin which was not in any way favouring the regional government, the Awolow-led government started dishing out policies which one might be tempted to refer to as anti-Alaafin.
The policies were majorly targeted at undermining the authority of the traditional rulers in general and the Alaafin in particular, and transfer more powers to the regional government.
First of all, the Oyo divisional native authority which was headed by Bode Thomas, cut off a major source of fund by replacing the traditional judges also known as the Iwefa chiefs, with their new and elite appointees.
The Baales and senior chiefs, as a result, had to hustle for whatever they wanted to come to them, as the new arrangement did not take them into consideration.
This, of course, also meant that the Oba was no longer paramount in any way, except in the minds of his loyalists.
This is Oba Adeyemi Adeniran who was dethroned by Chief Obafemi Awolowo in 1955.
The Action Group further tightened the noose by reforming the tax collection system so that the tax collection and assessment which was until then done by the Alaafin was now handled directly by the government in addition to a ten shilling tax and four shilling education rate.
All of these provoked the Alaafin to state that a close examination of the party's policies had led him to withdraw his earlier support and method.
After this, he declined the invitation of Sir Kofo Abayomi, the secretary of Egbe Omo Oduduwa, making reference to earlier occasions when he had been publicly disregarded by both Bode Thomas whom he had earlier installed as Balogun of Oyo in 1950 and Abiodun Akerele.
From there, he gave his full support to the opposition NCNC at all levels.
The Oba immediately put actions to his words, setting up his own private courts within the palace and in the residences of his chiefs, which rendered the governments native court reforms redundant as the people preferred to meet with their Oba to resolve the disputes especially marital issues, rather than visit the courts which they saw as an elite thing.
He also passed a resolution against the education and capitation taxes, and told the people not to cooperate with the government. In a counter attack, the regional government set about intimidating supporters of the Oba.
When the Oyo native authority council was formed, the counselors who took the side of the government against the Oba were reportedly attacked, and all fingers especially those of Bode Thomas pointed at the Crown Prince (Aremo) as being responsible for the assault.
This same council eventually reduced the annual salary of the Alaafin by 650 pounds, removed the salary of the Aremo and other palace nobles.
They did not stop at that but went ahead to de-stool the Oba and banish his son who was tagged as being a threat to public order.
At this point, it was clear that it was not just a minor clash of titans, but a major and cataclysmic head-on collision between the two powerful figures.
It also appeared to be a contest between the educated minority elites of the land (represented by Awolowo) and the majority illiterates and devote traditionalists, chiefs and rulers (represented by the Alaafin).
Awolowo kept advocating a reformed system of administration and overhaul of the constitution so that the educated minorities could wield the powers – a system where the traditional rulers would be stripped of their already streamlined powers and same would be shifted to the educated few.
The house of chiefs was thus placed under the regional government, and the institution of chieftaincy was placed under the control of the Action Group party.
Their method of dealing with any errant Oba or chief could be by demotion, punishment or the person in question could even be completely declined membership of the house of chiefs.
How Chief Obafemi Awolowo dethroned the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi Adeniran who married 200 wives in 1955.
The already delicate power balance was tipped further when a fight broke out between Bode Thomas and the Alaafin over issues of supremacy in the Action Group controlled Oyo divisional council.
This was worsened by the death of Bode Thomas at the prime age of 34, in November 1953, a death which the Oba was accused of having perpetrated through diabolical means.
It was so terrible that when the members of the Action Group launched a violent attack on the opposing camp, they reacted immediately and stormed the party meeting in Oyo, an action which led to the death of about six AG loyalists.
Throughout the rest of 1954, there were further clashes and counter clashes resulting in injury of many and destruction of properties worth thousands of pounds.
When in September of the same year, an emergency committee composed of seven Yoruba rulers including the Alaafin, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adesoji Aderemi, and the Alake of Egbaland, as well as fourteen leaders of the Egbe Omo Oduduwa was convened, the Alaafin was accused of conspiring to work against the regional government and the party in power.
Awolowo then stated that the government had outrun their patience and could no longer tolerate his insubordination, and after consultation with the other Obas, he was suspended from office and removed from the native authority.
This de-stooling was done despite the position of Sir Richard Lloyd, senior crown counsel to Sir John Macpherson the then Governor-General, that the elected counsellors could have shown more tolerance to the older members of the council who were majorly illiterate and could not easily understand or adapt to the new system.
Despite all his grammar and recommendations, they went along with their initial plan, deposing and banishing the 84-year-old Alaafin. His banishment led the Oba to relocate to Lagos where he was housed by a wealthy NCNC stalwart Alhaji N.
B, Soule, a citizen of Benin Republic and fellow Muslim, alongside his large entourage and loyalists who came daily in their thousands to pay their respects.
Even though the deposed Oba was touched by his generosity and tolerance, he acknowledged that there was no place like home, and that his only pain was being subjected to such a treatment at his old age.
Even the paltry 210 pounds salary which was left for him was finally stopped.
His over 200 wives could not be accommodated with him in Lagos, and so his wives came in batches of 30 to spend times with him, before returning for another batch to take their place.
After taking the Oba out of the way, Awolowo proceeded to pass into law three crucial policies giving him as the regional head tight control over the local government, the customary courts and matters of lands and chieftaincy.
The Action Group thus had the traditional rulers under their firm grip, but the chiefs decided to make the relationship more mutual by dishing out honorary chieftaincy titles to the politicians. This was how Obafemi Awolowo became Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
By November 1970, the son of the banished Oba ascended the throne as Adeyemi III Lamidi Olayiwola, to the delight of Oyo indigenes.

Greetings, brave warriors!
Please welcome a new update!
Today we're going to tell you about the most important changes of Gods&Glory new game
version!
The Battle for the Celestial Citadel has become even more exciting with the introduction of
Forts and Unions.
Attack the Forts during the battle for the kingdom's throne and receive a bonus to
the points you earn for attacking the Celestial Citadel.
Now you can create unions with other players and alliances.
Prove that you're a wise leader capable of gaining support of the strongest and defeat
the most formidable opponents.
We've introduced additional penalties for the burned city.
If the player's city was burned, all activities in it would slow down.
When city's durability is restored, the negative effect of penalties decreases.
We've also reworked the potions:
Now potions' effect lasts a certain period of time rather than just for the duration
of a battle.
Potions can be used on marches, squads in dungeons, and to the garrisons on the Wall.
The "Recommended targets" button has been added in the PvP rating screen.
Tap it to view the list of matching opponents.
Due to the numerous players' requests we've added the "Affirm button" on the "Help
allies" screen that allows you to inform the alliance members that the particular item
order has been accepted.
That's it for today.
Soon we'll post a video where we're going to tell you about the Forts and Unions in
great detail.

Pretty Little Liars Recap: Teen Rogue EP 12 | Mlog TV - Duration: 13:36.
Pretty Little Liars Recap: Teen Rogue EP 12
If I could give about ten people in this recap a tie for last place, I would do it. That is the stunning degree of incompetence and powerlessness on display in this week's pointless little blip of an episode.
I don't get it: With only nine hours left to provide closure on approximately 17 billion story lines, why is Pretty Little Liars treading water (swim pun!) with these nothing plots about barely relevant characters instead of going all-in on the stuff that we actually care about? Think of this week's list as a Pretty Little Powerless Rankings.
Liars, I'm not mad. Caleb (last week: 3). "If you believed in your talent half as much as I do, you would see this moment for what it is. Take it and run." Sigh.
Caleb also does a great job of swooping in at the last minute and saving Hanna from some haunted shoeshine kit that was trying to murder her, and he prevents Hanna from smacking Jenna in the street, and — most important — he doesn't do anything so profoundly idiotic that I had to pause my TV and write, "WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL" in my notes.
Bless you, Caleb, for saving me from caps lock. Officer Marco Elevator (last week: not ranked).
"You sounded fragile, what's wrong?" !!! Honestly, if someone said something like that to me in real life, I would laugh/spit-take in their face. But that's the magic of television, friends.
Related: What a week for stand-up, menschy boyfriends, and boyfriend-like figures in the Liars' lives! So, Marco Elevator continues to be one of the only competent police officers Rosewood has ever seen.
He even knows how to (mostly) draw boundaries between his personal relationship with Spencer and his professional obligations as a cop investigating her case. Spencer (last week: 4).
Plus points for all the quality, if technically platonic, face time with Officer Marco Elevator.
I know that this show has a thing for all these girls winding up with their high-school honeys and that as soon as Yvonne's never-ending coma, you know, ends, Toby will find his way back into Spencer's arms/heart/bed.
But in the meantime, can I dream of a better world? A world where Spencer and this guy — who I just figured out is the hot baseball player hooking up with Kara on Being Mary Jane, you're welcome everybody too lazy to IMDb that yourselves — fall for each other, solving crimes by day and hooking up by night? Anyway, Spencer at least has the composure to be around Veronica without screaming at her, to find a new job, and to go to the police with useful information.
She is remarkably calm for someone who found out that her entire identity is a lie. Ali (last week: 17).
She basically does nothing this episode besides make fun of Jenna's blindness (don't worry, I'll get to that in a bit), but at least she sounds more like the Ali we used to know: snarky, impatient, perfectly condescending.
I love that she dismisses rookie pain-in-the-ass Addison with "at least when I threatened adults, I looked up from my phone," which (1) doesn't really account for the fact that Ali faked her own kidnapping, which is fairly above and beyond Addison's crimes to date, and (2) isn't even true.
Also, her wardrobe is improving. Jenna (last week: not ranked). Jenna spins some story to Officer Marco about being afraid of Noel, and to be completely upfront with all of you, I did not follow it on account of it being boring.
Also, even if Jenna can identify all these girls by their respective scents, it is exceptionally disturbing for her to say things like "her smell clings to you." Still, her presence makes everybody nervous and she has not just one but two sidekicks at her side at all times.
Mona (last week: 1). You know it's a weak week when even Mona barely displays her usual sass and strength. She goes through Hanna's closet without asking, kicking off some whole unnecessary drama around a dress that Hanna didn't exactly design herself.
She says that wearing gloves "makes you look like a junky or a stripper" when, the last time I checked, wearing gloves in the correct environment makes you look like Amal Clooney.
She didn't even know Jenna was back in town! What happened to the Mona who was three steps ahead of everyone? I expect this firecracker back in fighting form next week. This show needs her, badly. Hanna (last week: 2).
Ah, I see, Hanna has to go to the cobbler — whose office is dark and abandoned in the middle of the day because sure — and somehow get trapped into a giant shoe cage (?) where she is attacked by cobbling supplies in a way that reminds her of that wet T-shirt torture shack.
Yes, what a valuable use of our limited time left with these characters. Such character development, such plot progression.
Wonder if Lucas is ever going to pop back into her life like, "Hey, since you and Caleb are obviously in it for the long haul and I was just letting you live in this apartment because of my massive crush on you, maybe it's about time you moved out?".
Addison (last week: not ranked).
I hate to hand it to this walking pile of Gen Z fashion clichés — come on, a choker and a center part? — but at least she is savvy enough to read the locker room and capitalize on what she correctly discerns is some teacher-on-teacher sexual tension.
I love-hate how her accusations against Emily escalate in just a few sentences, from her to her friend to the entire team, and how she tries to use a photo of Ali and Emily hugging as proof that Emily is an adult who preys on minors.
Contrary to what PLL will have you believe, there is a difference between a sexual relationship between adults and one between an adult and a child! Her initials are A.D.
but I refuse to invest any energy in that red herring. It's so lame it barely qualifies as a red herring. (Is there such a thing as a pink herring?). Aria (last week: 5).
Doesn't Aria have a job? How does she have all this downtime to just hang around Holden and mope and internet-stalk Ezra? If she does somehow have this much free time, why isn't she in New York with Ezra, either supporting him through this complicated and trying time (lol) or watching him be oh-so-in-love with Nicole that she gets the closure she needs to bail? And when she finally makes it to New York with this unfathomably dopey story about saltwater taffy — because she, an adult, who is engaged to Ezra, also an adult, cannot call him and insist upon a serious face-to-face conversation about this entire situation — she abandons said plan at the last minute because Holden followed her all the way to New York just to talk her out of it.
Has this girl ever seemed more pathetic?. Emily (last week: 7). Can't say I'm surprised to hear Emily cut some corners on that college degree because hoo-boy is our fair maiden a dumb-dumb.
Where do I start with Coach Fields? Just being back in her high school seems to undo whatever maturing I have to believe she's done since the day we met her seven seasons ago.
As I mentioned last week, it appears that Emily is spending significantly more time at Rosewood High now that she's a swim coach than she did when she was a student.
Doesn't she also have to have a day job, like, at the school? Back in my day, most of the coaches did double-duty as gym and health teachers from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m., which is what enabled us to have the very special experience of learning sex ed from the man who coached the wrestling team. Anyway, Emily gets master-manipulated by, and then coerced into blackmailing, a tenth grader.
She has sensitive and/or revealing conversations in public places — which she should know to avoid, seeing as she used to eavesdrop on suspicious teachers and students at Rosewood all the time.
The only thing she has going for her is her hair, which is consistently fantastic. Veronica Hastings (last week: 11).
"All I ever wanted to do was to make you feel safe and nurtured and loved. " Yeah, if that was your only job … 3/10, maybe never parent again.
Wow, okay, we're doing this every week: These girls making fun of Jenna for being blind when they are the ones who blinded her (last week: 16).
We're not even 20 seconds into the episode when Ali rips the creator of the board game from beyond as the product of a "vindictive blind girl," a term of art Hanna repeats and one-ups with, "How can she create a board game when she can't even tell if her blouse is inside-out?" [Deep breath] You self-involved, sentient Bratz dolls! YOU BLINDED JENNA.
YOU CANNOT MOCK HER FOR THE BLINDNESS YOU INFLICTED. Paige (last week: 18). The only thing worse than her personality is her truly atrocious hairstyle. Holden (last week: 15).
I literally ughed out loud when I saw Holden featured so prominently in the "previously on Pretty Little Liars." WHY IS HE HERE? His interest and sudden massive presence in Aria's life make zero sense.
Imagine if you had to spend this much uninterrupted time with someone you briefly hung out with in high school just because you accidentally ran into them on an errand.
Also, why is Aria treating him like some kind of relationship expert? Helping out with the cooking at your sister's catering company doesn't make you an authority on marriage.
And if you can't grow that mustache, do us all a favor and just shave it. It's giving me middle-school-dance PTSD flashbacks. Spencer's dad (last week: 14).
Lingering concerns: Why aren't these last ten episodes centered around turns on this board game? Does anybody have any guesses about who this last-and-probably-least A is going to be? How far along in her pregnancy is Ali supposed to be? She keeps talking to Emily like it's still possible for her to get an abortion, so seems like something the show should probably tell us, no?.
How gorgeous! Tell me you don't want to lick it,.
