Germany is one crazy amazingly powerful country that stands at fifth in the world when it comes to its economic
Complexity but today here on FTD facts just for fun
We are playing a little
What-if game and to see what would happen if Germany left the EU hey everybody what's going on and welcome to FTD facts my name
Is Dave Walpole now here on the channel,
we generally talk about people
Cultures and places from all around the world we like to look at countries and see what's great about them
and we like to look at the cultures within them now if that's your sort of Bagwell you want to hit that subscribe button because
That's what we do here, and if you like learning well, then you know what to do, but today
We have done a lot of videos on Germany
And I'll put some links in our cards above or at the end of this video
But we are looking at what would happen if Germany actually left the EU what would happen to the world
What would happen to its partners? What would happen to the country itself now?
We know the idea of Germany leaving the EU is a very silly idea, but again guys. This is just the video for fun
It's what if so first of all we got a look at why Germany joined the EU in the first place so during
1957 West Germany was a major beginner within the EU and it wasn't until
1990 with the fall of the Soviet Union that East Germany reunified and became one under the EU
Now for the longest time Germany had its own form of currency known as the deutsche mark
But it wasn't until January of
2002 that they
Adopted the euro currency
known as the euro now one of the reasons why Germany actually took on the euro is because the deutsche mark was an
Expensive dollar and as a matter of fact for the numbers on December 1st of 2001 one US dollar
Equal to two point one nine four six Deutsche marks whereas the year around that time one, US dollar
equaled point nine two euros now
There's many different reasons of why Germany actually took on the euro
But one of the smartest reasons was so it could actually trade better with other countries around the world
By lowering its dollar value Germany could actually sell
Its machines and equipment to many places around the world and the reason for this is because during the 90s in the 80s
Germany actually ignored the dot-com business and focused more on building machines cars and equipment now that is one
The many reasons why Germany took on the euro, but as for adjoining the EU there are many different reasons
But one reason was they wanted to avoid the French from vetoing Germany's reunification in the late 80s in the 1990s
But now let's take a look at what would happen if Germany actually left the EU first of all guys a lot of this is
hypothetical
But we did look at some good sources and got some good input for example
courtesy of an article on forbes.com by
Agostino Fanta V Chia he mentions that if this were to happen it would be a nightmare on the banks to recapitalize and
Germany's exports would drop by a whole twenty percent now one of the reasons for this is because it's been a reported that the EU
Doesn't really have any legal systems in case of a breakup
However if Germany was to leave take on its own form of currency known as the deutsche mark or the neo mark
Because of the country's strong backing in resources and imports and exports the deutsche mark or the neo mark would appreciate
Immediately by 40 percent and of course this really wouldn't help trading with other countries especially countries that are poor
So it might actually hurt the businesses within Germany as well as should be noted that for the euro the European Central Bank is actually
Located in Frankfurt Germany, and if it was to leave the euro well
Then that Bank would actually have to move as well and because of that if Germany was to pull out of the EU
The EU would actually drop in value which would hurt other countries around the world and this is simply because the euro is backed
Mainly by German banks and the countries that are within the Euro that receive assistance from the European Union would also
Probably abandon the dollar as well
Overall if Germany was to leave the EU this would put a major hurt on the global economy
And the markets all around the world and it's been heavily theorized that of Germany was to leave the EU
Because the markets would hurt so much Europe could possibly erupt into either great things of violence
riots or maybe even Wars would break out and
Unfortunately for all the European nations Germany would be the one country that stands out as the major winner, but overall guys
This is just a what-if
So what do you think would happen if Germany actually left the EU would things get better or things get worse?
