- [Narrator] On the heals of the Civil Rights Movement,
it was initially unclear how the United States Supreme Court
would handle gender-based classifications
under the Equal Protection Clause.
Enter Ruth Bader Ginsburg, then an attorney
for the American Civil Liberties Union,
Ginsburg helped win the case that would give the Court
its modern approach to gender-based classifications.
What was at the center of this landmark case?
Beer.
An Oklahoma statute permitted the sale of beer
with an alcohol content of 3.2% to 18-year old women.
But the same beer couldn't be purchased by men,
like Curtis Craig, who was over 18, but younger than 21.
If you were a man in Oklahoma,
you had to wait until you turned 21.
Along with a beer vendor, Craig challenged the beer statute.
Craig argued that the law's unequal treatment
of male and female beer drinkers was a gender-based
classification in violence of the Equal Protection Clause.
The district Court upheld the statute, and Craig appealed
directly to the United States Supreme Court.
The issue before the Court was whether a statute
that permits the sale of alcohol to women of a certain age,
but not to men of the same age,
violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
In an opinion authored by Justice Brennan, the Court held
that the statute's gender-based classification
violated the Equal Protection Clause.
Prior to this case, the Court generally used one
of two standards of review in equal-protection cases,
rational basis, a differential standard,
or strict scrutiny, a highly demanding standard.
In Craig's case, the Court held
that gender-based classifications must be evaluated
by a standard of review
that is in between rational basis and strict scrutiny.
This test is called intermediate scrutiny.
To satisfy this new standard,
the law must be substantially related
to furthering an important governmental objective.
Oklahoma argued that the important governmental objective
was to promote traffic safety.
In support, the state provided statistics to show
that the law furthered this objective.
The statistics showed that men between the ages of 18 and 20
were more likely than women of the same age
to drink and drive, be arrested for drunk driving,
and be killed in car accidents.
The Court recognized that promoting traffic safety
was an important governmental interest.
However, the statistics were inadequate to support
the state's claim that the gender-based classification
was substantially related to furthering that interest.
The Court noted that 2% of men and 0.18% of women
in the relevant age group were arrested
for driving violations involving alcohol.
According to the Court, this difference wasn't large enough
to justify a categorical classification based on gender.
Further, the state didn't present any statistics
focusing on the dangers presented by 3.2% beer,
as opposed to other types of alcohol,
further weakening the connection between the statute
and the state's interest.
The Court reversed the judgment of the district Court,
and struck down the law as unconstitutional.
Justice Powell wrote a concurring opinion to argue
that the correct standard of review
for gender-based classifications should be strict scrutiny
rather than intermediate scrutiny.
Applying strict scrutiny, Powell concluded
that the statute wasn't narrowly tailored
to the state's interest in promoting traffic safety.
Justice Burger wrote a dissenting opinion,
arguing that because gender-based classifications
aren't specifically prohibited by the constitution,
the standard of review should be rational basis.
Under this more deferential standard,
Justice Burger would have upheld the Oklahoma statute.
He reasoned that there was a rational relation
between the state's interest in promoting traffic safety
and the challenged classification because men
in the relevant age bracket were more likely
to drink and drive.
Justice Burger accused the majority of striking down
the statute simply because the majority found it unwise.
Justice Rehnquist also dissented, stating that
the rational basis standard is the proper standard
of scrutiny for gender-based classifications.
Justice Rehnquist explained that nothing
in the Court's previous cases, or the text
of the Equal Protection Clause,
or anywhere else in the constitution supported
the application of an intermediate standard of review
for gender-based classifications.
Craig versus Boren meaningfully altered
Equal Protection Clause jurisprudence
by introducing a third intermediate standard of review
for quasi-suspect classifications, such as gender.
The Court later expanded the intermediate scrutiny
to laws involving illegitimate children.

What Happens If You Drink Mercury? - Duration: 3:32.
Hey there, welcome to Life Noggin.
With summer approaching here in Blocko Land, I find myself constantly checking the thermometer
to see how hot it is.
Once it hits 25 degrees celcius, you better believe you can find me hanging out at the
beach, getting a tan, and playing volleyblock with my friends.
Now, even if this thermometer is filled with mercury, if it breaks, it won't be that
big of a deal.
But what about bigger quantities of mercury?
What would inhaling, ingesting, or even absorbing those do to you?
High levels of mercury exposure can wreak havoc on your nervous system and your brain.
One thing that makes mercury especially dangerous is that it can cross the blood brain barrier
and build up in the brain.
When mercury enters your system, it causes an increase in the amount of something called
reactive oxygen species.
These molecules damage DNA and are strongly linked to the onset of conditions like cancer
and neurodegenerative diseases like ALS, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's.
When it's consumed, mercury can start to accumulate in the heart as well as the brain.
Two places you probably don't want a toxic substance.
It's believed that when mercury builds up in this area, it can cause cardiomyopathy,
when the heart becomes enlarged and the tissue becomes thick and stiff.
This means that the heart can't function properly and it slowly begins to decline.
Another key system that suffers when you ingest, inhale or otherwise consume mercury?
Your kidneys.
These organs are vital in filtering blood and removing waste, but they're also a main
target for mercury.
The presence of this toxin has been linked to renal cancer and chronic renal disease,
which leads to a gradual loss of kidney function, digestive problems, and what the Mayo Clinic
calls "decreased mental sharpness", which kinda sounds like you'll just get dumb.
There's a whole slew of other effects of mercury poisoning too - like memory loss,
skin rash, insomnia, and loss of peripheral vision.
While small amounts of mercury are generally fine, heavy exposure causes all kinds of problems
for the body and the mind.
Interestingly, how you consume mercury and the specific type of mercury actually plays
a big part in how severe the effects will be.
The three main types of mercury are Elemental Mercury, Organic Mercury and Inorganic Mercury.
And they can be consumed in different ways - drank, eaten, inhaled, or absorbed through
the skin.
The severity of mercury exposure varies widely among these combinations.
For example, that silvery liquid form of mercury, Elemental Mercury, is so slippery that it'll
just slide through the stomach and intestines if it's swallowed.
It seems like the inhalation of mercury vapors is what's most harmful.
And mercury vapors are surprisingly prevalent.
People typically just think of thermometers and sushi when they think of mercury, but
the vaporized form of this element is also released by volcanic activity, mining operations,
earthquakes, and the burning of fossil fuels.
Poisons like mercury create a wide array of changes in the body depending on what the
toxin is.
People can suffer from seizures, fall unconscious, or enter an altered mental state.
Many of the symptoms of poisoning of any kind can resemble other conditions, making it hard
to know what's wrong unless you're a professional.
Of course, if you think you or someone else may have been poisoned by something, call
911 right away.
Have you ever suffered from mercury poisoning?

D-Dome V & S-Dome V: Flachdach-Montagesysteme Generation V - Duration: 2:45.
Hello everyone!
That's Axel, he's got news for you!
You probably know our classics,
the S- and D-Dome System.
When they were introduced 6 years ago, they
set new standards for flat roof systems.
Up to then, flat roof systems
had been very complex to construct
due to many components.
With the Dome systems
we have massively reduced the components
and thus reduced the assembly time.
We were able
to omit the module support rail by means
of the corner clamping of the modules.
While S- and D-Dome have become the
most popular flat roof systems in Europe
our developers have set to work on
rethinking the Dome family
with the experience we have gained
and to develop improvements.
(This white coat I wear is only a prop.)
The key data should remain the same:
A modular system
with 10° elevation angle
in single- and double-sided design.
The result is S- and D-Dome V.
One of the most important innovations
is our new flexible
building protection mat «Mat V».
Due to its elasticity it absorbs
movements and balances them perfectly.
Specifically, this means,
that the mat achieves a significantly
higher coefficient of friction
and as a result
that the system requires even less ballast.
The geometry of the mat
compensates thermal expansion.
The new mat is made of EPDM
and is free of soluble substances that
could affect or impair the roof covering.
It is only available
in one standard size –
which is why Marcel from logistics
is also really excited about it.
Also, with the ballasting
a lot has changed.
The rails themselves
serve as a robust ballast tray,
so no additional accessories are required.
The suitable clamp is the MiniClamp.
It has a clamping range of 30–50 mm
and is extremely easy to handle.
It is also compatible
with our MiniRail system –
saving you storage space
and therefore transport costs.
Excellent!
Lars, are we on yet?
Already done!
The Dome V systems are already integrated
into our online tool Base On.
You can start planning right away
working with all known functionalities.
If you have further technical questions
about the S- and D-Dome V,
want to know,
how to integrate them into your project
or just want to get to know us,
just give us a call or send us an e-mail!
We are looking forward to meet you!

Weather News Today with J7409 6- 18- 18 - Duration: 4:21.
good day everyone time now for weather news in general with j7409 the name
you know the news you can use. so far is this little system right here I'm not
doing a tropical update right now but it has been dropped back down to 10% and
it's so close to the shoreline now it's probably not even going to turn into a
tropical depression but much much rain this map courtesy of tropical tidbits
let's turn her on and get her going lots to talk about now a cold front is
forecast to make its way into the Northeast United States today and
tonight and continue into the northern mid-atlantic tomorrow now a law and
ahead of this front thunderstorms are expected for the Northeast and there's a
slight risk of both severe weather and flash flooding for that region today and
tonight now as the front progresses southward storms will spread into the
mid-atlantic by tomorrow farther west the front is stalled and
thus will continue to linger across the Ohio Valley middle Mississippi Valley
and central plains multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected for
these areas along and north of the front a moderate risk of extensive and
excessive rainfall flash flooding is in effect for the central plains tomorrow
as a low pressure system along the front begins to strengthen and storms
elsewhere in those regions could also contain flash flooding and be strong to
severe today and tomorrow so keep your eyes on your skies in those areas now
even farther west the northern rockies and northern i planes are expecting rain
and thunderstorms today and tomorrow with an upper-level low in the area this
rain of an inch or two could lead to some flooding there and cooler than
average temperatures are in the forecast for you guys
west of the Northern Rockies and northern high plains now a trough of low
pressure this is what everybody's looking at is forecast to linger near
Texas coast over the next couple of days and it's going to be raining all week
off and on okay and this is combined with high levels of moisture in the
atmosphere that will lead to several inches of rain there this ring could be
beneficial for areas that are in drought but flash flooding is possible in some
locations where the thunderstorms produce a high rainfall rate or train
over one area south of the front sure hot hot hot hot
temperatures and high humidity will lead to heat indices over 100 degrees in
portions of the middle Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley as well as into
the mid-atlantic today heat advisories are widespread throughout all of these
areas with extensive heat warnings remaining three today for the cities of
st. Louis and Chicago if this is your first time visiting please subscribe

Rare Secrets of 9th House Sunil Ghaisas [Eng Subtitles' - Duration: 19:55.
Music.
Greetings to all.
Today we are going to know about a very good house of the zodiac.
Both people who have faith in astrology and who doesn't believe in astrology say one thing in common, what ever results they are getting because of their own karma.
But many a times we see in the society people who have lot of capabilities and hard workers yet they do not get to reach their ultimate goal easily.
Such persons would say i did the best what ever i could do even then i'm not getting desired results.
I'm doing my best with in my capabilities still i'm not getting proper results. Which means there needs to be something more done regarding karma to get the desired results.
In order to get 100% +ve results if we perform actions which includes dharma then person's luck will increase and gets good support from his good deeds and luck thus becomes automatically successful.
That is why among the 12 houses 9th house is called good house or important house. It is known as 'Bhagya' , the house of Wealth, Luck and Prosperity.
Generally we say we do everything but our luck is what we carry forward from our past life deeds.
Which means what ever is written in our fate only that happens.
Even people who don't believe in astrology, they simply say "I'm successful because of my luck, if i don't get success because it's not at all written in my fate.
So it is very important to understand 9th house (the house of luck). You'll come to know how important this for one to become successful.
As per 'Jataka Parijata' book person's luck will entirely dependent on 9th house.
'Guru Dharma ka Baha'. Which means when you do good deeds you'll get good results.
Whether the society would appreciate one's actions or not, whether the person is doing good deeds or not all these can be seen from 9th house.
As per the verse 9th house is the accumulated karmas (sanchita karma) of the past life.
If we would have done good deeds in our past lives we will get good results in this life. This is called sanchita karma. This can be seen from 9th house.
The verse also says "It tells are you going to do more good deeds related to god or guru". If one already have the blessings of god that can be seen through 9th house.
People who are religious often say by god's grace or by the blessing of my parents i got all this success.
We can also see father from the 9th house as per the astrology. How is one's relationship with father can be seen from 9th house.
And 9th from 9th house is 5th house.
We call 5th house as 'Atmaja', which has created from one's own self.
As people might often say either my child made me proud or ruined my name. This can be seen from 5th house.
When we talked about 5th house we've learned that results for 5th house also coming from the luck of past deeds.
Whether one's child is good or bad it is all written in one's fate. I'll give my child good parenting but i don't know how the kid is going to reciprocate it good or bad.
Same way to get a good father is also happens by fate and to get a good child also happens due to one's good fate or luck. These two are interlinked.
More than 'Jataka Parijata', 'Jatakabharanam' book mentioned about 9th house profoundly.
As per the verse, 9th house tells about dharma of a person. It tells if a person is truly religious or not, do they believe in god or not.
It also says..
How much help does a person gets from luck.
It also tells about person's clean character. How is one's morals and values etc.
It also tells about one's pilgrimage and travel. We all travel, sometimes with family, sometimes to visit holy places.
How much are we really interested in religious travels and how much can we actually do this all can be seen from 9th house.
Like people say "I'm so lucky it is in my fate", if they happen to visit Varanasi (Benaras) or they visit Ganges river.
Some people go all around the world but they never get to visit Kashi (Benaras). They feel like going there but somehow they can't go there. It all depends on 9th house luck.
It also says...
How much one gets the result of their good deeds. By going to temple one will get good karma but some other will get same good karma by sharing their knowledge and wisdom. This can be seen from 9th house.
9th house also represents one's higher education. Regular education is seen from 5th house but higher education like masters and professional degree we see that through 9th house.
If you look at people who is professionally successful their primary education might not be good all the time. But when they come to higher education they might have done well. For that strong 9th house must be there.
If you look at natural 9th house Sagittarius comes under this. It's owner is Jupiter and we all know Jupiter means good.
All the good things and deeds can be seen from 9th house.
University studies, Researches all can be seen from 9th house.
And 9th house comes under Dharma trine. 1st house, 5th house and 9th house comes under Dharma Trine.
What is the meaning of Dharma?
Doing right thing at right time is know as dharma.
I'll give you one example out side of the context.
There is so much said about Dharma. But i'll tell you one example we can easily relate with.
'Dnyaneshwar Maharaj' parents were excluded by the society those times. The reason behind it was..
At those times people used to follow 4 types of varnaashrama tradition. They are brahmacharya, grihasta, vanaprastha and sanyasa ashram. These have to be followed in the same sequence it is a religious belief.
But they did it in a different manner. First they took brahmacharya, grihata and then they skipped vanaprastha and took sanyasa ashram. But later they again came back to vanaprastha ashram due to some situations.
They had broken the normal sequence so that society eliminated them thinking that it is against dharma.
So dharma means doing right thing at the right time.
How can we apply this technique for current situations i'll give you one suitable example.
When male and female come together they give birth to a child it is natural and dharma by nature.
If it happens after marriage we say it is good dharma. But if it happens before marriage we treat the same as shame and against dharma.
People abuse such deeds and persons who ever dare to go against dharma.
So it is better to understand what is dharma. It is doing right thing at the right time.
To understand dharma better we must have good 9th house. Our guru should be good so he will teach us what is the right dharma, what is good and bad. It is also said If we do good deeds we get proper results.
And it is also said we can see our brother's wife from 9th house.
Brother is seen from 3rd house so naturally his wife is seen from 7th from 3rd house which is 9th house.
We can also see persons good nature from 9th house.
Also a person is pure hearted or not can be seen from this house.
We can also see gains from our children. We see children from 5th house, 9th house is 5th from 5th house. So we see gains related to children from here.
We can also see our grandson from 9th house because it is 5th from 5th house which represent children of children.
In our tradition it is believed that, how far the lineage goes/passes that good it is. If 5th house is good and 9th house is not good enough then your child will be good but he/she might not carry forward the lineage. That can also be seen from 9th house.
So this way we can see and understand different things related to our luck, prosperity and the good qualities added to our personality. All these can be known from 9th house.
If we look at the planetary aspects jupiter is the natural significator of the house.
So if jupiter is in 9th house he gives good results, sun also gives good results. Moon also gives good results. Any good planet here gives good results.
If saturn is here person will get luck and prosperity little late due to the nature of Saturn in delaying things.
If venus is in 9th house luck and prosperity might happen due to females or opposite sex.
Combining all these factors one can truly judge and estimate the true results of 9th house what is good and what is bad.
Once it is known then we can improve our good actions and reduce our bad actions then obviously we can grow forward.
Same thing we learn in 'Rajayoga'. Thank you.
Yes, if rahu or ketu is in 9th house we can know about our grandfather. Rahu represents our grandfather.
One more thing i've also seen in many horoscopes if rahu or ketu happens to be in this access (9th and 3rd) such people will get success after they go far from home. 4th house is home 3rd is 12th from 4th house and 10th house is profession and 9th house is 12th from 10th so such person's luck will only improve after they go far from home and start working distant.
Thank you.

90s FLASHBACK! Do You Remember these Things? - Duration: 10:11.
A lot of us have seen the 90s.
It was a good time, with many new things coming and changing the way we lived!
But of course, as is always the case, the good times don't really last all that long.
But there are still many memories!
So lets take a look at some of the things from the 90s that aren't around anymore!
23.
Floppy Discs.
1.44 mb of data does not sound like much these days.
But in the 90s, that was a whole lot of space!
And so were the floppy discs which revolutionised the way we shared data.
But there was more to it.
Pulling back on the metal slider head and hearing its cracking sound was a guilty pleasure
many of us enjoyed!
Not to mention the number of jokes that it gave us unintentionally through its name itself!
22.
Video Tapes.
There was something special about lining up in stores to get the tapes of the latest movies
and cartoons!
From kids to grown ups, getting a tape was a big deal!
Friends and family would gather together to watch them and every so often, it would get
wound up in the player!
But that aside, they were always a great experience!
21.
8 Bit Video Games.
Donkey Kong, Super Mario, Contra and many more are things that may still be around today
but the real pleasure of playing them was on a gaming console with cartridges!
The best part was that if there were any glitches all you had to do was take out the cartridge
and give it a nice blow!
Problem solved!
While there is no doubt that playstations and xbox are still fun, they lack the old
world charm of a Super Nintendo!
20.
Walkman.
Cool got a new definition with the advent of the Walkman from Sony.
It gave everyone so much freedom of being able to walk around with their music!
It was hard to spot a kid without a Walkman in the 90s.
Sharing cassettes and headphone were the only reason to have friends back then!
19.
Discman.
Of course, the Walkman was slowly phased out as CDs became more popular!
It could hold more songs, was much more portable and even the quality was better!
So of course, the discman was the next logical step after the Walkman.
And it taught many of us the value of not being too restless as even the smallest movements
could lead to the skipping!
Still, they were a great way to rock out to music!
18.
Dial up Modems.
As you are watching this video, you probably do not even realize how much the internet
has improved over the years.
Many of us have spent time sitting in front of a computer and waiting for the dial up
modem to connect us to the internet.
And they sure did take their own time!
But once connected, they gave us access to a whole new world which was unheard of at
that time!
17.
Pokemon Camera.
Before the hunt for pokemons actually began in real life, there were these bright little
camera that were around in the 90s which would superimpose random pokemons on all the pictures!
It was a pretty good way to spend an afternoon with the kids making them wonder where all
those pokemons came from!
16.
Typewriter.
These were the ultimate tool, whether you worked in the office or were an author!
There was something oddly satisfying about the keys hitting the paper and you could never
be enamoured enough with those few who could type at insane speeds!
There was just something magical about those people!
Not to mention the whirring sound as you pushed the paper back for the next line!
15.
Pagers.
Before the advent of the mobile phones, getting hold of people was actually a huge task.
You would either have to call them on a landline or fix a time to meet.
And if by any chance there was any sudden change in plans, all you could do was hope
the others weren't offended.
Then came along the pager, which could be carried around and could get messages on them!
It was a great step towards communicating with one another, and was a very handy thing
to have around.
Before whatsapp of course!
14.
Digital Diary.
While it was not possible for everyone to afford a secretary and carrying a notepad
around wasn't really in good fashion, there was the digital diary which you could keep!
These nifty little things could hold everything from your appointments, to-do lists and even
let you make notes!
And while the smart phones have actually made it redundant, it was all the rage back in
the 90s!
13.
Light up Yoyos.
Nowadays kids are into digital things like phones and console games.
But there was a time when a walk around the neighbourhood was one of the best things to
do.
Of course, swag was still important back then which meant that you would see many kids with
a light up yoyo!
If you could master the Yo-yo, you were undoubtedly cool and if you happened to have a flashing
one which could make nights more interesting, you were definitely the King of Swag!
12.
Flip Phones.
These babies were all the rage back in the day.
It looked uber cool to take out a phone, flip it open and then talk!
But it did come with its drawbacks though as these phones were extremely vulnerable
to breaking!
Sadly, with the advent of touch screen phones, no one really remembers these flip ones anymore!
11.
Answering Machines.
Whenever you are not able to receive a call, people can generally leave a message on the
voice mail which you can hear later.
But no one has seen where these voice mails are actually stored because they are digital.
But back in the day, there were answering machines which actually recorded the messages
and you had to record your own message to let those calling know that you cant attend
the phone!
Crazy, right?
10.
Smoking Ads.
Even as kids, there was nothing as remarkable as the Marlboro man.
Or any of the other people in smoking ads of old.
Even though all of us knew at some level that smoking was harmful, there were many kids
who took up smoking just because of the ads!
So in a way, it was actually the right call to ban smoking ads!
9.
Macarena.
If you lived in the 90s and did not know how to do the Macarena, you were a geek!
There was no other way that you would not know how to move to the beats of this awesome
song and while it may still be a rage at retro parties, it is sad that most kids today do
not know the Macarena!
8.
WWF Trump Cards.
While trading cards might still be around, there was no greater fun for a kid in the
90s than playing trump cards where they would pit one wrestler against another!
It was the simplest of games and one really great time pass!
Oh and yes, the WWE was WWF back then!
7.
TV Antennas.
If you have looked at old photos of television and see two rabbit ears protruding from them,
they were basically TV antennas.
These were essential for the TV to display any picture and every house had one person
who was designated to moving it around till you got the best picture!
It was annoying, but it was a family tradition!
But with the advent of digital television, the antennas made an exit though!
6.
Cordless.
Telephones were usually kept in the living room and many houses did not really have extensions.
Which meant that if you needed privacy during a phone call, you either had to shoo everyone
out of the room or get a really long wire!
But all that changed with the cordless phones which allowed you to move around freely while
talking on the phone!
But they have become obsolete since the coming of the mobile phones and if you ever happen
to see one, save it as a treasure!
5.
Mixtape.
Till date, thinking of the perfect gift for the one you love is a difficult thing to do!
But in the golden days of the 90s the solution was pretty simple.
A Mixtape!
What it meant was that you could get hold of a blank cassette and record all the songs
that you think express your feelings best and gift it to your girlfriend or boyfriend!
And while mixtapes went out with the cassettes, you can kind of do the same thing by making
a playlist but it just isn't the same thing, is it?
4.
Boy Bands.
Ok so while nobody would ever actually admit today that they loved boy bands, there is
no denying that all of us were pretty crazy about them.
Not only could they sing, they could also dance and look good while doing it!
And their music was the kind of thing that would make you jump on the dance floor straight
away!
But of course, we cant really admit that we liked them can we?
Especially not the guys!
3.
Maps.
Ok, to be fair they are still pretty much around and are still used a good deal.
But that is only in places where the internet is not a sure thing.
Maps were pretty much a part and parcel of any road trip and you really could not step
out without it.
Reading it was not everyone's forte and so there were designated navigationists!
Not like the ones today who just turn up the volume on their phone and let google maps
do the rest!
2.
Limewire.
While something similar exists today in the form of torrents, there is no denying that
nothing gave us as much pleasure as a file getting downloaded back in the day when a
movie took about a few days to download!
Not that we are saying you should download anything through these places, but if you
were inclined to do so in the 90s, limewire and a couple of other places were the only
things that you could hope for!
1.
Film.
Memories are always a special way to remember something.
And while selfies and camera phone still do that, there was something extra special about
the cameras of the 90s which had to use film.
It was a painstakingly meticulous process to load the camera with the roll and then
each photo had to be just right because clicking away randomly cost money!
Oh and not to mention once the pictures had been taken, you still had to wait for some
time before you could see them as they had to be developed first!
Do you ever miss any of these awesome things from the 90s? if you do, let us know in the
comments below and do remember to subscribe to our channel for updates on our latest videos!

Great Mattress for Relieving Back Pain, Shoulder Pain & Hip Pain - Ask Doctor Jo - Duration: 7:51.
hey everybody it's Doctor Jo, and the folks at SleepOvation sent me their
California king mattress, and yes this is a California king. so let's take a look.
oh hey everybody so as you can see I've had about a month to try out the sleep
ovation bed, and it is awesome. you if you watched some of my videos you
might know I've had shoulder surgery. I've had hip surgery. I need a one on
this side, I need one on this side, and so I am always a little skeptical about
beds of how comfortable they are going to be. cuz I'm a side sleeper. and so one
of the coolest things about the sleep SleepOvation is it has 700 little
individual cushions. so instead of like a memory foam where you sink all the way,
in it only sinks in where you need it to. so for me, I have a lot of hip pain when
I'm sleeping, my shoulders as well. but when I was on a memory foam, and it was a
brand name memory foam bed, I just kind of sink all the way in and it wouldn't
quite get what I needed to. but for the nights that I've sleep slept on this bed
already, what happens is just kind of where my hip is where I need that extra
support, and where it's not poking into my hip, it sinks and because of those
individual cushion pieces in there. so since there's so many, you know it works
at your hip because it goes in deeper. it works in your shoulder because it
goes in deeper. especially if you're a side sleeper. if you're a back sleeper
then it comes up and it supports your spine. so that is just amazing. and it's
it's nice and squishy, but it's not so squishy where once you go in you sink in
and you can't get out. like as soon as I get up, then it springs back up. there's
no space where I've been. there's no indention that stays which is really
important because it's only supporting you when you need the support. it's not
then staying in one spot and then you move, but that spot's still sunk in. so I
really like that. and that's really helped take away the pain. I haven't had
any more hip pain, my shoulders are probably about 80% better which is about
the three to four weeks that I've slept on it. so that's a huge difference
because then you can sleep through the night. you're not waking up in the middle of the night,
and then having to get back to sleep. another big important thing that I love
about this bed is I get really really hot when I'm sleeping, like sweating. you
know just very uncomfortable. I like, I like to be cold and I like to cover up
in the sheets, and so again like a memory foam bed or other kind of beds, I don't
want to just knock memory foam, but you get really really hot when you're sleeping. And
the lot of times, specifically with the memory foam, it kind of holds in the heat.
I had a memory foam topper for a while on my own bed and it was just no good. so
with the individual cushions what allows that for, is the air to flow through. so
those hot pockets don't just get stuck in the bed. so another thing that I think
I've slept so well through the night is because I don't get hot like I used to,
and that to me is really really important because we're supposed to cool
down at night. you know you get a better night's sleep
if you sleep a little bit cooler. they've done research and it's proven for that.
so this is really really awesome in the fact that it does that. so as you can see
here, like as I'm sitting, I'm kind of scooted in like that, but as soon as I
move it pops back up versus if that was a memory foam, that divot would stay
there for a little while until it slowly comes back up. so that's what's really
cool about that. also you can see there's a zipper all the way around here, and so
it's nice because if this top layer were to get dirty, you can unzip it and wash
that and then not mess up the mattresses. so so I really like that component, and
you can see when I'm here it's dipped in kind of where my hips and my buttocks is,
but here at my spine it's supporting it. so that's really nice. if I am to lie on
my side, you can see here where it dips in a little bit more where the pressure
points are, but it's still supporting me right here. so a couple of the videos you
might have seen that I've shown you know, you rolling up some towels or you know
the pillows and things like that to make your pillow fort. well you can do that,
but this bed really helps where you don't have to have a lot of extras with
it. you can just get a really good night's sleep. so what I also want to
show real quick for you is what you can do in the mornings when you first get up.
a couple easy stretches to do. it's really nice in this bed.
again even though it does kind of sink into the places where you wanted to, you
can do some of these stretches pretty easily even before you get up out of bed.
so then it kind of helps you get loose kind of helps your blood get flowing in
the morning. so it's a really nice thing to do. I'm gonna kind of flip my pillow
over this way just so you can kind of see a good angle, but let's say if I'm
asleep in in bed and I wake up, I would just roll over onto my back kind of prop
my knees up like this and just start off with a simple pelvic tilt. so I'm just
rolling my pelvis back trying to flatten out my back, but I'm using my hips to do
that instead of trying to push with my feet. that's not really what I'm trying
to do. I'm trying to get just those core muscles kind of woken up in the morning.
so just a couple of these maybe five-ten just to kind of help get everything
loosened up. if your backs a little sore in the morning this is a great way to
start. and then the next one is just going into a bridge. so that I usually
kind of flatten out my hands, put your feet you know about hip width apart, and
then just come up into the bridge. and so you can see it's supporting me very well.
if I was on another mattress, sometimes you would sink. and I have a lot of
people tell me I can't really do bridges or things on my bed because I just sink
right in, and I can't get into that bridge position. but you can see here I
could do that pretty easily and then come back down. so again you know just
just five or ten to get you moving. you don't have to do a whole lot. and then
the last thing I usually do before I get my bed is just a little trunk rotation.
so then I bring my knees together my feet my knees and just kind of now
stretch it out from side to side. so you don't have to do a full stretch it
doesn't have to be thirty Seconds, but I'd maybe hold it five or ten seconds on
each side and then maybe do five each way. and so you're getting a nice stretch.
again this mattress does a great job of you to be able to do that because you're
not sinking in and staying in like a little hole. it's just kind of protecting
you all the way around. so that does a really nice job and then you can just
kind of pop up on the edge of the bed.
you happen to have, you know, maybe some hip and some knee issues, you can even
just do a couple knee lifts when you're sitting on the edge of the bed. and
getting going. and so that doesn't take much, but it kind of gets that blood
flowing. again if you have a nice mattress like the sleep ovation it's
going to give you a really good night's sleep. and it's so important especially
if you have injuries or if you're hurting. sleeping is when our bodies
recover, so if you're not getting good sleep, you have a harder time recovering.
so getting a good mattress is one of the best steps to start off with. so if
you're interested in purchasing the sleep ovation, make sure you click on the
link up there, and don't forget to subscribe by clicking down there. and
remember be safe have fun and I hope you feel better soon.

Lounge Suit Dress Code + History, what to wear, dos & don'ts - Gentleman's Gazette - Duration: 8:03.
Welcome back to the Gentleman's Gazette!
Have you ever gotten an invitation that stated lounge suit as a dress code?
Have you ever wondered why those two terms are combined together and what it means for
your outfit?
If so, this is the video for you.
Today, we discuss the terminology, lounge suit, what it means, where it comes from,
most importantly, what you should wear and not wear when the invitation asks for lounge
suit.
By the way, this is a series of different dress codes so if you ever come across something
and you don't know what to wear, come to our channel, search for it, and you'll find the
answer.
So what is a lounge suit?
First of all, with two words lounge and suit, suit means you have a matching pair of pants
and a jacket.
It comes from the French term suivre which means to follow.
So your jacket follows your pants, your pants follow your jacket.
A suit is not a combination, meaning a jacket like a blazer or an orphaned suit jacket that
is then combined with a contrasting pair of pants or a different color or pattern.
Now sometimes, people also wear a dark blue pair of slacks with a dark blue jacket but
they're not made of the same fabric and that's not a suit either.
So when you have a suit, make sure the fabric is the same for the jacket and for the pants.
Today, when people think of a lounge they assume a more casual outfit and a suit to
them is a more formal outfit.
In fact, for most men out there, wearing a suit is likely the most formal garment they
will wear on a regular day-to-day basis.
Now that we got that squared away, what is a lounge suit?
The term lounge suit was coined in the beginnings of the early 20th century.
At that time, a regular suit was rather casual and so that's what you would wear to a lounge,
so obviously, things haven't changed in the sense that lounges were considered casual
yet the whole formality scale of clothes was very different.
In those times, Gentlemen mostly wear frock coats, as well as morning coats, and a lounge
suit was a new casual kid on the block.
So today, when it says lounge suit, don't be confused.
You actually have to wear a dark suit that is rather formal and very similar to what
you wear when a dress code would call for business attire or if you'd go to a funeral.
To learn more about funerals, watch where and how to behave, please check out this video
here.
If you're interested in business attire or what business casual means, please check out
this video.
Most of the time, you'll find a lounge suit dress code on written invitations, for example,
you're invited at the Embassy or let's say at Buckingham Palace.
So what exactly should you wear when the dress code calls for a lounge suit?
Basically, a dark suit with a necktie.
It can either be single-breasted or double-breasted, a two-piece suit or a three-piece suit, to
learn how a suit should fit, please check out this video series here.
Unlike the dress code black tie, which is very formal and very distinct and you can
learn all about it in to this video here, the lounge suit dress code gives you a little
more flexibility and room to mix up your outfit.
For ladies, lounge suit means either a cocktail dress or some form of a gown.
For color, you should go with either navy or charcoal, maybe dark grey or even a form
of charcoal brown can work, stay clear of any bright and loud colors.
Subtle patterns like a pinpoint are okay, maybe a very subtle non-contrasting houndstooth,
maybe a faint stripe, but I would stay clear of wide rope stripes or big contrasting white
stripes in a dark background because that's too loud for a lounge suit dress code.
Likewise, stay clear of very casual suits, other materials such as tweed or bold patterns
with a very casual structure and texture.
The suit should always be worn with a necktie; it can be a regular classic necktie or if
you want to, also a bow tie.
Stay clear of ascots or an open neck since it's too formal of an occasion to go without
proper neckwear.
In terms of patterns, keep it classic and conservative, meaning go with maybe a blue
tie, a red tie, or something in darker shades.
Stay clear of the bright orange or yellow ties.
For your shirt, a plain solid white or a plain solid light blue are your best options.
Patterned shirts should be avoided, checked shirts or anything that is quite bold such
as blue and white stripes.
The collar of your shirt should be a classic turndown collar.
The spread can vary and it depends a bit on your face.
With a rounder face, you can go for a smaller spread and a bigger collar.
With an oval face, you can have a more spread collar but you definitely want to avoid a
button-down collar since it would be too casual.
The goal is to look appropriate and respectful without being flashy.
So for shoes, that means go with a pair of Oxfords, maybe some derbies in either black,
a form of brown, or maybe dark burgundy.
Stay clear of loafers, casual textures such as suede or full brogues since that would
be not formal enough.
In terms of the rest of your accessories, go with over the calf socks so you don't reveal
your bare skin.
If you want a pocket square, you can go with one.
Try to keep it muted, the classic white linen pocket square with hand rolled edges is probably
your best bet and you can find it in our shop here.
I also suggest you go with a more conservative fold such as the TV fold I'm wearing here
right now, not the crown fold or something more flashy.
You can wear any form of a micropattern tie, meaning small pattern, which are very formal
and elegant.
For a selection of lounge suit appropriate ties, please check out our store here.
Personally, I would avoid a boutonniere and if you wear a belt, make sure it matches the
color of your shoes.
If you wear suspenders or braces, they don't have to mention because likely you're not
going to see them.
So in today's video, I am wearing a typical outfit would be appropriate when a dress code
called for a lounge suit.
it's a dark navy single breasted suit two button with two side vents it's a worsted
wool it's a little heavier and it drapes well I have regular pants with cuffs that are pleated
a white shirt with barrel cuffs you could also opt for French cuffs or double cuffs
with cufflinks my tie is a red and blue with buff tones a madder silk tie from Fort Belvedere
which you can find in our shop here the pocket square is a white linen pocket square with
a TV fold that goes well with my shirt and underlines the serious and respectful solace
that the allowance of dress code requires my socks are over the calf in Navy with a
little bit of yellow and the stripe is a shadow stripe that works with any kind of navy suit
and you can find them in our shop here.
my shoes are black semi brogues which are just formal enough a full brogue would not
have worked a quarter brogue will work as well as a plain cap toe Oxford whilst wearing
a pinky ring in rose gold with a bloodstone which is dark and works well with my entire
outfit.

TREY GOWDY UNLEASHES HELL – STUNS DC WITH ANNOUNCEMENT - Duration: 10:53.
TREY GOWDY UNLEASHES HELL – STUNS DC WITH ANNOUNCEMENT
Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy went off on former FBI Director James Comey this week, saying
that he is distorting the definition of an information "leak" to suit his own purposes.
The Daily Caller reported that Gowdy told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday night
that Comey was twisting the facts in an interview with Fox's Bret Baier earlier that evening.
During this interview, Comey claimed that he had not really "leaked" his memos of
meetings with President Donald Trump to the media and that he instead simply shared personal
correspondence that was no different than a private "diary."
Gowdy wasn't having any of it, however, and the South Carolina congressman said that
Comey "has a definition of the word leak that no one else has."
"What he says is a leak is what the rest of us call a felony," Gowdy insisted.
"Leaking is disclosing a confidential conversation, which is exactly what he did."
Comey is currently being investigated by the Justice Department's inspector general,
who is trying to ascertain whether Comey complied with agency policy in the handling of information
that was found to be classified in some of the memos he wrote about his conversations
with Trump.
This comes days after Gowdy slammed Comey as a hypocrite for his attacks on Trump, saying
that "everyone" should know what is in memoranda written by Comey that purportedly
chronicles his meetings with Trump.
Gowdy explained that in Comey's new book and the interviews he is doing to promote
it, the former FBI head talks about his "morality, ethics and truth" but simultaneously "engage[s]
in more relativism than any book author I've seen in a long time."
The Republican lawmaker pointed out that Comey considers Trump "unfit for office" because
of alleged untoward actions and untruths, yet "gloats" about his own family fervently
supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016 and calling his deputy, Andrew McCabe, a victim.
Gowdy said that according to Comey, "All three engaged in the same conduct."

Why is Zlatan Ibrahimovic not playing for Sweden at the World Cup? Reasons explained - Duration: 5:44.
Why isn't Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the World Cup? Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired from Sweden duty in 2016 following the European Championships
That's after scoring 62 goals in 116 appearances for the Scandinavian nation. In a statement at the time he said: "It feels heavy
It feels disappointing but at the same time I enjoyed it. We had the possibility of playing in the European Championships, I represented Sweden at this tournament so at the same time I am proud
SWEDEN V SOUTH KOREA HIT BY SPYING ROW "This was my last game and I have many fantastic memories of the national team
It is a nice story as where I came from, what people called the little ghetto, I made the country my country
Sweden." However, he hinted he may return to the international fold for the World Cup this summer
"I miss the national team. If I want, I do it. I want to feel I can deliver a good performance," he said
"We'll see, it's a tough question. I want to feel that I can perform and give back
I don't want to come just because I'm somebody. The door isn't closed for anything
" However, it turned out to be merely a protracted commercial campaign. The 36-year-old has flown out to Russia where he is working for card company VISA
He tweeted a picture of himself with super agent Mino Raiola last week and said: "Now the World Cup can officially begin #minoraiola
" The image got more than 1.1m likes on the site. What has the Sweden manager said about Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Ibrahimovic still dominates conversation around the team even though coach Janne Andersson has been keen to move the narrative on
"This is incredible! This player has stopped to play with Sweden one year and a half ago and we are still here talking about him," Andersson said after Sweden upset Italy in November's playoffs to return to the World Cup field for the first time since 2006
"Gosh, we need to talk about the great players we have in this team I believe." Ibrahimovic has been in Russia this week where he has posed for selfies with fans and been pictured with agent Mino Raiola
But Andersson again reiterated his stance that Ibrahimovic has nothing to do with the Swedish side
He told a news conference: "I became the head coach almost exactly two years ago, after the Euros, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, together with a number of others, chose to announce they were leaving the national team
"I respected that and that was the end point of his extraordinary career for Sweden
He hasn't had any involvement whatsoever with the team since. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - what do Swedish fans think? Unfazed by the absence of their greatest player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Swedish fans believe the team may be more cohesive without him and could start the World Cup with a bang
Ibrahimovic scored 62 goals in 116 games for Sweden, matching that dominance with a larger-than-life personality and ego but he retired from international duty before the qualifiers, and, despite speculation he could reverse his decision, there was to be no comeback for Russia
"We were second at the 1958 World Cup, third in 1994. Now we're coming first - yes, even without Zlatan!" said ebullient fan Nicklas Haellman, 38, predicting a 5-0 win for the Sweden in their opener against South Korea on Monday
"He was the best we ever had. We all love him. But now he is too busy making commercials to play for us
" While not sharing quite such heady expectations, compatriots at a sun-baked fan zone in Nizhny Novgorod where Monday's game will be played, agreed there was life after Zlatan for Sweden
"Now it is more of a team effort," said Magnus Hurtig, 35. "And of course it is Forsberg's time now to shine," he added of Emil Forsberg, the pacy winger who has inherited Ibrahimovic's No
10 shirt and is Sweden's main attacking threat. Proudly wearing the yellow Swedish shirt in anticipation of Monday's game, Marcus Karlsson confessed he had some split loyalties
He recently married a South Korean woman and was just back from holiday there. "The Koreans are not very hopeful
They think their team is pretty bad!" he laughed while watching Saturday's France v Australia game at the fan zone

might have seen that I've shown you know, you rolling up some towels or you know
the pillows and things like that to make your pillow fort. well you can do that,
but this bed really helps where you don't have to have a lot of extras with
it. you can just get a really good night's sleep. so what I also want to
show real quick for you is what you can do in the mornings when you first get up.
a couple easy stretches to do. it's really nice in this bed.
again even though it does kind of sink into the places where you wanted to, you
can do some of these stretches pretty easily even before you get up out of bed.
so then it kind of helps you get loose kind of helps your blood get flowing in
the morning. so it's a really nice thing to do.

Liverpool transfer news: Riyad Mahrez claims emerge following Nabil Fekir collapse - Duration: 2:25.
Liverpool wanted Lyon star Fekir to be their second signing of the summer following their capture of Fabinho last month
However, the deal collapsed despite the 24-year-old undergoing a medical and posing in the Reds' colours
Reports have claimed Liverpool may yet renew their interest in Fekir, particularly if the forward impresses at the World Cup
But the Liverpool Echo say Mahrez could sign instead. The Algeria international was heavily linked with a move to Merseyside in January
At the time, Liverpool were reeling from the loss of Philippe Coutinho, who moved to Barcelona in a huge £142million transfer
But the Reds chose to stall on a move, insisting no move for Mahrez was in the works
The Leicester star then came extremely close to joining Manchester City. And, with City stalling on a move, the Liverpool Echo say Liverpool could steal a march instead
However, they do admit the forward's lofty price tag could put Jurgen Klopp off. Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Phil Thompson thinks Mahrez would be an ideal signing
"Yes (Liverpool should sign him). I don't know where he'd get into the side," he said
"But you can see him, on his day, he can be a match winner. He can but he's not done it enough and whether that's because he's been unhappy there or whatever
"But this boy's got tremendous talent, you see the quality that he brings. "He can take it from A to B very very quickly which relieves pressure at times
Yeah he's a talent, I'd take him for £20million! In my dreams."

Life Car TV - Renault Testing Captur Coupe, Might Get RS Version - Duration: 2:47.
The story is not based on some wacky rendering, but on actual spyshots. We're not going to share them with you guys, as they belong to French magazine Auto Plus
However, we will share a screenshot we found on Facebook. It all has to do with the new CMF-B platform, which will underpin the new Clio at the end of 2018
Followed by the Captur in 2019.This Captur Coupe is said to arrive in 2020, so we're sure to get our own spyshots by then
As the name suggests, we're dealing with another one of those 4-door crossovers with a sloped roof
The outcome isn't particularly pleasing from an aesthetic point of view. But maybe by 2020, we'll be brainwashed into thinking cars are supposed to look that way
After all, convertible SUVs seemed like the dumbest idea ever, but Land Rover is making big money with the Evoque
The Captur Coupe will be about 4.3meters long and will slot in the range between the regular Captur and the bigger Kadjar, both regarding cost and size
The powertrains will be chared with other Renault models, including the 1.5dCi and the new 1
3TCe.However, the big headline here is that there could be an RS version as well, offering 200 horsepower while the Clio RS is bumped up to 225
So does that mean it will have the new 1.8-liter?We were initially curious why Renault would make such a small coupe-
However, the report claims the chopped Captur will start at €20,000.So not only will it make money for the company, but it will also undercut virtually everything of this shape

So in today's video, I am wearing a typical outfit would be appropriate when a dress code
called for a lounge suit.
it's a dark navy single breasted suit two button with two side vents it's a worsted
wool it's a little heavier and it drapes well I have regular pants with cuffs that are pleated
a white shirt with barrel cuffs you could also opt for French cuffs or double cuffs
with cufflinks my tie is a red and blue with buff tones a madder silk tie from Fort Belvedere
which you can find in our shop here the pocket square is a white linen pocket square with
a TV fold that goes well with my shirt and underlines the serious and respectful solace
that the allowance of dress code requires my socks are over the calf in Navy with a
little bit of yellow and the stripe is a shadow stripe that works with any kind of navy suit
and you can find them in our shop here.
my shoes are black semi brogues which are just formal enough a full brogue would not
have worked a quarter brogue will work as well as a plain cap toe Oxford whilst wearing
a pinky ring in rose gold with a bloodstone which is dark and works well with my entire
outfit.

is seeking external validation.
In this video, I break down the concept
of validating yourself and the importance of doing so.
(low key music)
I'd like to begin this video with a quote
by Dr. Steve Maraboli that really
sums up validating yourself.
He said, "The only permission, the only validation,
"and the only opinion that matters
"in our quest for greatness is our own."
This is true for the simple reason that our
quest for greatness is exactly that, our own.
To evaluate this further, I'd like to use
an example everyone is familiar with, Steve Jobs.
He's definitely one of the best examples
of the importance of validating yourself.
He once said, "Apple's goal isn't to make money.
"Our goal is to design and develop and bring
"to market good products.
"We trust, as a consequence of that, people
"will like them and as another consequence,
"we'll make some money.
"But we're really clear about what our goals are."
Notice how Steve Jobs didn't say he cared
what people think of Apple's products.
He did however, have the goal of bringing to market
good products and there's no doubt he did that.
However, if he cared about making money
and about people liking Apple's products,
would he have taken the risks with Apple that he had?
Under Steve Jobs, Apple launched arguably some
of the most revolutionary products to date
of this century.
Most notably the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad.
Each one of these products were massive risks.
Sure people ended up loving them, sure they
contributed in large part to making Apple
the leader it is today, but there is no guarantee
that this would happen when these products were launched.
After all, they were innovations of which
the world had not seen before.
Steve Jobs validated his opinion.
Steve Jobs validated his own quest and by extension,
Apple's quest for greatness.
As a result, Steve Jobs succeeded in achieving
his quest for greatness.
So my suggestion to you is to be more like Steve Jobs.
Validate yourself and don't look for others
to do it for you.
Remember, other people will only validate you
based on their views.
You have your own quest for greatness,
you have your own goals, and the only person
that can validate those is yourself.
Learn from others, listen to others,
but validate yourself.
Thanks for watching.

World Cup: Mexico fans caused EARTHQUAKE when celebrating shock Germany win - Duration: 2:12.
Mexico caused the biggest World Cup upset of the tournmanement so far by stunning Germany yesterday afternoon
Joachim Low's side won the competition four years ago and were widely expected to brush their Mexican counterparts aside
However, Juan Carlos Osorio's team caused a major World Cup shock by beating Germany courtesy of Hirving Lozano's thunderbolt strike
And it has now emerged that Mexico fans celebrating in Mexico City caused a minor earthquake
Seismic monitoring network, Simmsa, revealed two sensors picked up the earthquake when Lozano scored
In a tweet, they said: "The #earthquake detected in Mexico City originated artificially
"Possibly by massive jumps during the goal celebrations of Mexico in the World Cup
"At least two sensors inside the City detected it at 11:32." Meanwhile, Osorio has praised his Mexico side for stunning Germany
And he thinks their willingness to take the fight to Low's team was why they prevailed
"I told them to play for the love of winning, not the fear of losing," he said
"I always tell the players that I'm supposed to be the one who carries all the pressure
"They just need to concentrate on the game and when they win it's their credit and if we lose it's my fault
"That's the way football is and today they really focused on the beautiful game and they beat the world champions
"

The Saunders Show - Episode 7 - Business 40 Closure Winston-Salem, NC - Duration: 7:02.
If you've been down business 40 through downtown winston-salem from highway 52 to Peters Creek Parkway
You've noticed a lot of construction work in this episode
I'm going to show you just what's going on with more than a decade of selling real estate in and around the winston-salem
Area one thing that I've learned is we are blessed to be able to call this place home
This show is dedicated to showing off some of the incredible places and great people in this area. This is the Saunders show
Hey everybody, it's Mark Saunders with Saunders Realty and today. I'm at a construction site
I'm right here at the Greene Street bridge, which is over business 40 downtown winston-salem
I'm meeting two people from the Department of Transportation Pat IV and mazak Tucker to tell you what's going on with this major project
How long it's going to take and what is it going to look like when it's done?
So today I'm here with Pat IV with the North Carolina Department of Transportation
Project engineer pretty much over this whole project here in winston-salem. And so how long have you been involved with this project?
We started work on the planning for this project in
2006 and I have been involved with it from day one ever since we started talking about the improvement of business 40 and particularly
Talking about the closure of business for the closure of business 40. So that's something as a real estate agent
I get asked a lot about so kind of tell me where were we at with this project?
And what's kind of the timeframe? What are we looking at? Well, after 10 years of planning design all that stuff
We finally started working on the project last year
We are beginning phase one and working on that at Peters Creek Parkway getting ready for the impending closure
That will start probably in November this year and that'll be about a 20 month closure
Peters Creek has to be finished and open to traffic before we can detour traffic because that interchange
Will be the major access into and out of the downtown area
From points west of here and then of course to the on the eastern side u.s. 52 will do that
Do you know kind of the history? I mean because this hadn't been updated in a long time
well
This this was one of the original sections of Interstate 40 back built in the early
1950s was never designed to be an interstate and then of course when the bypass was completed around 1989 1990
We started working on upgrading this because you know while it was state-of-the-art in 1953 things have changed it certainly wasn't designed to carry
80,000 cars today. We're replacing nine bridges adding to pedestrian bridges out here
All of this will be done in that span of 20 months and we're not adding any additional through lanes on this
However, we're adding paved shoulders
We're reducing the number of ramps and other safety features on this that will actually result in a better capacity
So we can actually handle more cars after this project then it handles today without adding any additional through lanes. Yeah
Yeah, and I do have to give give you a compliment on this whole process
So I used to work a lot downtown the community involvement on this whole project has been absolutely amazing
So let's take a walk
We're gonna ride on the bridge and show you some of the key features that's going on right now in construction area
So I'm here with may Zack Tucker out here on the Green Street bridge over business 40 downtown winston-salem
May Zack is the resident engineer that's actually over this whole project
This is going away. So what what is this going to be? What are we standing on so this bridge?
specifically you'll get it will get removed and then we will be constructing a
tight arch suspension
pedestrian bridge in its place
it'll have dual tied arches and be one of the only
Suspension bridge systems in North Carolina. Oh, wow. We're looking down. You can't see it
It's behind the camera Peters Creek Parkway, and they're in the process of building redoing that whole bridge
He was actually telling me they've been using dynamite but new the new ways for doing blasting people
Don't even really know what's going on. So kind of how does that process work?
well, basically
you know with with the regrading of the whole interchange we encountered a lot of rock that needed to be removed to get the
Profile grades on the ramp the new ramps and loops, you know
a lot of people really didn't realize it because you know when we blast we put a
bit of soil on top of it along with blasting mats and
then when we blast it's really you can't you can't hear it very far away and
It's very little vibration from what some things you want to tell people to keep in mind
November December because by January everybody's going to have it figured out easy peasy, right? But November December can be a little tricky
What do you want to just remind me? I would remind people, you know, just just pay attention to our website. You know, we're posting
All our updated information as far as lane closures and road closures on that website and planning ahead
You know, the biggest thing is knowing an alternate route in advance, and we've been asking everybody to build
15 20 men depending on how far out 30 minutes into their community 30 minutes
I know this is a big thing for real estate because if somebody's moving to this location, we have to really tell people
hey, you might want to just know business 40 is going to be shutting down for 20 months and
Planning accordingly, so I get a lot of questions a real estate agent kind of what's going on here and everything because of the commute
Well, thank you so much for meeting with us today giving us all these updates. This is exciting time to be in Winston
Now we're going to have some growing pains
obviously when you shut down the main road it's going to be
But the way this is going to look when it's going to be awesome
It's going to be really neat to see this all come together and thanks for all the work you're doing on it, sir
So now you know what's going on with business 40 right here in downtown winston-salem
Now I might be a little partial because I work out of winston-salem, but this is a great place to live
It's a great place in North Carolina with all the different areas connecting all together from downtown Winston to Ardmore area Baptist Hospital
Right here. BB&T ballpark
If you're thinking of moving to winston-salem check out our website at s Realty now com
Where we get to brag about how great our area is. Once again, my name is Mark Saunders with Saunders Realty

Pitching The Truth & Trump: Why He Sounds So Convincing #video #andrewtollinton - Duration: 7:20.
President Donald Trump regardless of what he says many people say he does
appear somewhat believable and we need to be believable in a pitch. How does
Donald Trump appear to be so very convincing?
Before we look at what Donald Trump does so well first things first
let's dispel the myth that Donald Trump has somehow become a different person
once he has become the president of the United States just take a look at this
clip going back thirty years and see how similar Donald Trump is from then to now.
Everybody's taken advantage of the United States people know that if
certain people are running a country that it won't happen. I mean when you
look at Japan not paying for the defense we're defending Japan
we're losing billions and billions of dollars, we're fighting for aids help and
for farmers and for this and that and, it's a shame and and the Japanese folks
who I respect greatly but, they're not they're not treating us fairly they're
really not treating us fairly. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, they're not paying us anything
for the services we're rendering and I think it's a disgrace and I think people
look at certain people and maybe me. If that if I were in a position this
country believe me would not be ripped off like it is and it is just being
ripped off so badly by our so-called allies. You'll see then that President
Donald Trump thirty years ago sounds very similar to how he sounds today all
that success of thirty years ago when he was a massively popular and successful
businessman. He hasn't been changed by now he being a massively popular super
successful politician and the most powerful man on planet earth. He stayed
true to his roots he still delivers words in the same manner. What is it then
that President Donald Trump does to be so very, very, very, believable? Amazingly
believable? I've put together two clips that hopefully illustrate what I'm
talking about: As you know I will soon be meeting with
Kim jong-un as we seek a future of peace harmony and security for the whole
Korean Peninsula and in fact for the whole world. And, these guys all think wow
we finally have them because Mexico said they're not gonna pay for the wall. What
does that mean? What does that mean? We're renegotiating? Now
remember what I said: we are having, we are having, you remember what I said to
Tennessee? I said to everyone, we have such a bad deal with Mexico we have such
a bad deal with Canada, we lose with Mexico over 100 billion dollars a year.
Where this crazy NAFTA deal the controls should be pretty clear. Yes, they are two
different contexts, one is a foreign policy speech and one is a speech to
his supporters but you can tell the difference, very marked. In one speech, in
the first speech he is reading just like any other politician making sure that
every single word that he says is correct.
And in the second clip he's completely come to life right. He's starting to use
all kinds of gestures and really talking like a normal human being. Donald Trump
comes across first as a human being, second as the president of the United
States and the majority of a time he never once comes across as a politician.
Hence why he sounds so convincing and very, very, believable. There are lots of
advantages to this approach by Donald Trump. Of course it's a nightmare for
anyone trying to write a speech for him because you never know where he's going
to deviate to. But when you speak like Donald Trump when you speak as though
you're talking a normal conversation and you've internalized the content which we
should always do in a pitch. When you're like that you can start to control the
room. Just say in a pitch you get an interruption by somebody? Someone comes
into the room or perhaps someone really starts to fire some hard tough questions at
you? Even if you've asked them not to come up to you with any questions
until the end of the pitch they could still do that, what do you do? Well here's
a good example of how well you can control the room and how badly you can control
the room depending on whether or not you are reading from the script or not.
The first clip I'm going to show you is of Prime Minister Theresa May
giving a speech and being
interrupted by a heckler who approaches her at the front of the stage:
While our opponents flirt with a foreign policy of neutrality and prepare for a
run on the ground some people say we spent too much time
talking about Jeremy Corbyn's past you may not have heard me say that so some
people say we've spent too much time talking about Jeremy Corbyn's past. Now
we'll take a look at how President Donald Trump treats a similar scenario:
Thank you. How did he get in here Matt?
Okay just for the media, the fake dudes back there, they took very good
care of them, they were very gentle, he was very obnoxious. You'll see in the
second clip President Donald Trump treats it as all a bit of a joke. He's in
complete control. He's relaxed and that's what we look for in a leader and that's
also what we look for in an individual who is pitching to us. Because they are
going to potentially be leading a company to great fame and fortune. In
conclusion ladies in gentlemen, when it comes to pitching we should not read
from a script, we should know our pitch so well we can internalize it so we can slow
down, be amusing, be less amusing, all depending on the room. Remember the
spoken word is not the written word. We are not writing a contract ladies and
gentlemen. No, we are not building a wall of contracts, We are speaking and the
audience are more forgiving. When we speak we can use hyperbole, we can
exaggerate and, we can quite frankly get things wrong. Listen to any interview on
the radio and you'll often hear politicians screw up their lines. It's
forgivable, it's the spoken word. The written word is
not the spoken word. Take advantage of that fact when you pitch, internalize the
information and go out there and be believable.
