[♪INTRO]
You know what they say: It's a truth universally acknowledged that a single person in possession
of a ridiculous amount of work, must be in want of a nap.
Or something like that.
Naps are an easy way to recharge during a long day.
And, according to the Internet, there's a way to make them even better: coffee.
Just drink a cup before a twenty-minute snooze, and you'll supposedly wake up even more
alert.
For once, this isn't some fanciful thinking that SciShow's here to debunk.
Coffee naps do seem to be more effective than either coffee or naps alone.
It's thanks to two processes: how your body knows it's tired, and how it responds to caffeine.
As you go about your day, doing whatever stuff you do, your body is making and breaking down
molecules called ATP, or adenosine triphosphate.
They're basically your body's biochemical energy supply.
And when they degrade, they ultimately leave behind a few things, including one key neurotransmitter
called adenosine.
Throughout the day, these molecules gradually build up and trigger receptors in your brain
that signal to your body that it's getting tired.
Sleeping is kind of like hitting a reset button.
During the day, enzymes are breaking down adenosine, but since your body is producing
so much of it, it can't clear it all out.
When you sleep, though, you don't produce as much adenosine, so it gives those enzymes
a chance to catch up.
Your overall adenosine levels drop, and fewer receptors are activated in the morning.
The reason coffee — or specifically, caffeine — works so well at keeping you awake is
because it has a similar shape to adenosine.
So it can slip in and bind to some of those receptors without activating them.
This blocks adenosine molecules from reaching their targets, so your brain makes fewer "I'm
tired" signals.
Now, the coffee nap takes these two processes and smashes them together to make the ultimate,
super-efficient snooze.
See, once you down that Starbucks, it takes around twenty minutes for the caffeine molecules
to travel through your body to your brain.
Instead of just sitting around waiting for that to kick in, the idea behind coffee naps
is to prepare for a caffeine overload.
As you sleep, your brain breaks down adenosine more effectively, because it's not being
flooded with so many new molecules.
Then, when the caffeine rushes in twenty minutes later, there are fewer adenosine molecules
for it to compete with.
The caffeine has a better chance at claiming those receptors before the adenosine can increase
again and start making you all sleepy.
Most people recommend only a twenty-minute coffee nap, because you probably won't go
into a deep sleep, which can be harder to wake up from.
So far, scientists haven't done studies to see how many adenosine receptors are affected
by this method.
But multiple papers have shown that coffee naps made participants better at things like
memory tests or driving simulations, compared to coffee or naps alone.
At the end of the day, nothing really beats a full night of sleep.
But coffee naps will do for an afternoon pick-me-up.
Now, you just need to convince your boss to buy some nap pods for the break room.

Though the internet has made even the most trivial details of celebrities' lives a 24/7
consumable product, there are still a few things you might not know about your favorite
stars — like their racial heritage.
Diversity of race, culture, and tradition is prevalent and celebrated around the world
now more than at any time in human history.
According to NPR, mixed-race people are one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S.
population.
So who are the multiracial celebs you might have missed?
From longtime favorites to emerging artists, let's take a look at some celebrities you
didn't know were biracial.
Aubrey Plaza
Best known for her breakout role as April Ludgate, TV's favorite millennial stereotype
on NBC's Parks and Recreation, actress Aubrey Plaza was born to a white mother and Puerto
Rican father.
She told Cosmopolitan,
"A lot of people don't assume I'm Puerto Rican because I'm fair skinned.
But I feel very connected to that side of my family."
"Every family party, we'd end up salsa dancing.
We still do, pretty much."
However, Plaza told Latina magazine that being biracial often puts her in an uncomfortable
spot.
She explained,
"I was winning the diversity awards and people were always calling bulls--- on me.
I won the Hispanic teenager of the year and I felt terrible."
Regardless, Plaza used her platform to help raise funds for the U.S. territory following
Hurricane Irma in 2017.
Pete Wentz
You probably don't listen to Fall Out Boy and instantly think "reggae," but bassist
Pete Wentz knows all about it.
His mother was born in Jamaica, and his black maternal grandfather served as U.S. Ambassador
to Sierra Leone.
Wentz told Altpress,
"I grew up going [to Jamaica] a lot.
I didn't appreciate then that while Bob Marley and the Wailers are cool, it goes much deeper
than that."
The rocker is also related to former U.S. Secretary of State ColinPowell.
Wentz told Vice in 2013 that Powell is his great uncle, and shared,
"I met him around Desert Storm.
[...] I remember asking him, 'Oh man!
Are you going to be using bazookas?'
I can't even imagine, like, wow.
What a goofy thing to ask."
J. Cole
Rapper J. Cole was born to a white mother and black father and raised in the military
town of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The hip-hop artist says his biracial identity offers him a unique perspective, telling XXL
magazine,
"I can identify with white people.
[...] But at the end of the day, I never felt white.
I don't know what that feels like.
I can identify.
But never have I felt like I'm one of them."
Cole went on to explain that he identifies more as a black man, since, based on his looks,
that's how he's always been treated.
He added,
"When you get pulled over by the police, I can't pull out my half-white card.
Or if I just meet you on the street, you're not gonna be like, this guy seems half-white."
Ryan Lochte
Although swimmer Ryan Lochte could be the poster boy for white dude bro culture, his
mother, Ileana "Ike" Lochte is Cuban.
She was born in Havana before immigrating to the United States to escape the Castro
regime.
Ike and her family eventually settled in Florida, which is where Ryan Lochte wound up training
to become a 12-time Olympic medalist.
His mother told NBC News,
"When he won the gold medal […] all I could think about what was my parents went through
and how he's there representing the United States, and my parents wanted us to be there
so badly, to be in the United States."
As a swimmer, Ryan consumed 8,000 calories a day.
"I mean, who likes eating greens?
Ugh."
What did his diet consist of when he visited his mom?
Lots of Cuban food, of course.
Ike told NBC Latino,
"When he comes home, he has picadillo, he has ropa vieja, anything that he wants."
Halsey
Singer-songwriter Halsey burst onto the international music scene with her debut album, Badlands.
Although she looks white, the New Jersey girl is biracial — born to a white mother and
a black father – and she wants the world to know that.
The electro-pop singer explained in a 2017 interview with Playboy,
"I look like a white girl, but I don't feel like one.
I'm a black woman.
So it's been weird navigating that.
When I was growing up I didn't know if I was supposed to love TLC or Britney."
For Halsey, being biracial prompted some unfortunate childhood moments.
She told Vulture,
"When I was little, if someone saw me and my dad walking through, like, a grocery store
parking lot, women would come up to us and be like, 'Sweetie, are you okay?'
Because they saw a little white girl walking with a black man."

You know I think for a while,
especially when you're young and you're artistic,
you have quite a tunnel vision sometimes
when you think about your work
and then what impact that creates.
I've been fortunate with my career online
to see how important it is for people
to feel like that they have someone
who is telling their story.
And I've learned that there is always something
that you can leave, even in a video,
that resonates with millions of people.
And it can be very small.
It can be as small as me in video kicking ass
against all my white dude friends
and being the Justin Timberlake when I'm the Asian guy.
And that means so much to Asian men who watch it.
And I think that's what we want in the end,
not just in entertainment,
but in life you just want connection,
you want someone to feel like
they are understanding where you're coming from.
I think I've learned that the world
is less scary than your home, sometimes.
And I think especially as a person of color
a lot of held me back was the fact
that I have family members who still don't approve.
Society at large wouldn't accept me as well, right?
So, the best thing about being open
about my identity online,
especially to an audience of strangers,
is that the majority of people, especially young people,
are super OK with it.
If anything, they absolutely love it.
And I think that's because they have friends,
they have people they know who are open and they're out
and that's so important because they have exposure to it.
And if anything they have exposure
then to people like me who are out immediately.
The company I used to work for, Buzzfeed,
we had a float for the first time in the L.A. Pride Parade
and it was the day after the Pulse Nightclub Shooting.
The tone of that pride was so special and unique
because it was that mix of celebratory and solemn
because it was that stark reminder
of why we were celebrating which is
because people are still at risk.
What's most important now is
that we just need to have more action
and voting is the number one way to do it.
If you are an LGTB person or a person of color
and you aren't voting, you have to, we have to vote.
It's called a minority for a reason.
You all have to be there.

I was only concerned with making sure the ball would go in dangerously,

It was really tough for us to turn the game around but I think in the end we deserved it.

I haven't really been concentrating on that.
I've been focused on helping the team.
At times that's gone well, at other times less well.
In the second half we built up huge pressure, even when we were down to ten men.
It's a huge credit to the team and our belief that we managed to get the result.

Icelandic Book Haul (with a side of language acquisition) - Duration: 11:39.
Hi there! It's Diane, the nursing geek, and today's video is going to be more of
a booktube video, I guess. But it's also about language acquisition, because
there's two languages I'm working on learning right now. I've been working on
learning one for many, many years and one for just a couple of years. The one for
many, many years ...
The one I've been working on for many, many years is ASL,
and starting on June 26th, I'm going to be taking the ASL one course
at the American School of the Deaf here in Hartford, or actually West Hartford.
I took a course in ASL back when I was I want to say like 11 maybe
12. My dad worked at the community college that we lived near, and I'm
pretty sure he pulled a string or three for me to be able to take that either as
just a non-credit course or if it was a credit course, I was auditing.
So I did have some formal instruction that I have had occasion
sometimes to use what ASL I have with a patient... Not so much, actually not so
much patients. Clients. When I was doing community mental health, we had plenty of
other means in place because nobody else knew ASL, but our one client who did use
ASL liked the fact that she could have conversations with me, even if I pretty
much was fingerspelling a lot. Because when you don't practice the language, you
lose it and which is why I'm starting back at ASL one. I could possibly go to
the next level, but some signs have clearly changed in the last I'm not
going to say how many years, and some I have just forgotten or confused
or messed up. So that's one new book that I will be working through. The others are for
Icelandic, which I've been working on learning since the fall of 2015.
Totally self-study using a number of books with, you know practice CDs that
come with them, and off and on the University of Iceland's free self-paced
online tutorial. I decided one of the things I needed to do was to start
reading some kid-level stuff. What I'm not... what I don't have and I'm not going
to get is anyone to practice with in person here. Although, if you speak
Icelandic and you want to Skype and practice, please comment below because
I'd love to. So I got some kid level stuff, a couple of comic books. I presume
that Andrés Önd means Donald Duck, because that's who it appears to be, and
I do know the word for pink, so this is clearly, between that and the picture,
Pink Panther. Bleiki Pardusinn. That double n is one of the things I have a hard time
pronouncing, for sure.
But, what I initially had set out to get... I actually did a little better than what
I had set out to get. I had planned on getting the first two of the Harry
Potter books because I figured it's something that's geared towards kids
that I've already read and am very familiar with, and that the read... the
reading level increases as you go along. It's meant to be that the reading level
is set for the age Harry is. So, first book 11 years old, second book 12 years
old ,and so on.And I actually scored the first three! Two of them, I got at flea
market, and the two of them together cost substantially less then the very first
book brand new, which translated to about 35-36 American dollars.
Ouch. Although, on the plus side, all of them
were the same price including... I believe the the largest is Goblet of Fire and...
same price. Okay, so I presume this is "and the Philosopher's Stone" because the
"Sorcerer's Stone" translation is an American thing, but I do not as yet know
precisely what "viskusteinninn" is but either philosopher's stone or sorcerer's
stone, I presume. And, yeah, I'm not at an 11 year old reading level yet. It took me a
while to figure out the chapter numbers. We've got "fyrsti kafl." Okay, so
"kafli" is apparently chapter. "Fyrsti,"first.
I see some words repeat a lot, like "sagði" I presume is "said" because that's
in most of the speech tags. So how fluently I'll be able to read it I don't
know, but, of course, I have the original English as well. So I can look at it side
by side in addition to looking at, sadly, Google Translate because oh my gosh the
dictionary... the official dictionary... It's way beyond what I could a) afford and
b) pack, so that didn't happen. In order to keep track of all this and keep myself
on track, I have coughed up a couple of spreads that I'm going to use in my
bullet journal. Something like this is what I'm planning for the Harry Potter
one. It... actually, I've got the three comic books and then the three Harry Potter
books with check off boxes for each chapter. I decided I was gonna try to
work out a spread for my ASL class, but I still don't know what the homework
assignments are going to look like. For all I know I may have to submit video
practice assignments, in which case you'll get to see them.
These are the two things I've come up with so far.
This is way too cramped, but just somewhere to write in the assignments. I
kind of like this one a little better. Just go week by week: what's the topic,
what chapters are we covering, and what the heck am I meant to be doing to
practice. But until I actually see the assignments - I don't know if they give us
a syllabus or how it's going to work - it's hard to really plan that. But I do
plan to have both of these spreads in my July section my bullet journal in some
variation. And there is a bullet journal video coming when I setup July, 'cause I'm
gonna try and actually do that whole "camera-down" thing.
Two more books, which I didn't buy in Iceland but I bought because of Iceland.
Ahen we were up at the University of Akureyri and the Akureyri Hospital -
Sjúkrahusid á Akureyri ( I love that the name for hospital is basically sick
people house). This book on family assessment was recommended to us if we
wanted to learn more about the family assessment model that they use at the
Akureyri Hospital, and I gotta say I and most of my students fell in love with
this family assessment model the way... and the way they have it implemented. If we
could do something like this here - I don't know how it would work because of
HIPAA and also the issue of EMRs not talking to each other - but the assessment
model in which for each patient you have actually a picture of their whole
support structure, their whole family support structure whatever that means to
them and a way that that goes with them from primary care to hospital to
specialist. I love it. I want to learn more about it. So I've
got this, and I will talk more about it once I've actually read it and can say
more than that. The other is a book I have meant to read for years, although
I kind of already read it I read the dissertation upon which it is based,
so a lot of its going to look very familiar. And that is this book: The Jet
Sex, originally under the dissertation title Ambassadors of the Air, about the
role that flight attendants played in the Cold War and sort of bridging
cultural gaps. That's not actually why I'm interested in it. I'm interested in
the very beginning part where it talks about the history of nurses as flight
attendants. The original flight attendants were all
nurses in the US.Why does Iceland have anything to do with that?
At the moment their nursing shortage is being driven in large part
by a lot of nurses becoming flight attendants. When they told us about
this, I said, "We did that last century! Why are you doing it now?" There's all sorts
of political stuff that's involved in why nurses are finding it much more just
financially workable to go be a flight attendant once they graduate. And so I
wanted to go back and revisit the American parallel of that, and maybe it
will either turn into a vlog, maybe a blog post, if I can dress it up enough
maybe something that I could actually publish. I have been looking for an
opportunity to cite Vicki Vantoch.
Yeah, I'm going to try to. So, that's some of my "to be read" stuff. I still have a
whole bunch of other "to be read" stuff. I don't know when it's all getting done.
You'd think I'd have all this time in this summer. Not really. But that's what I
have for new books added to the "to be read" pile and their various purposes.

I actually haven't even looked up new information yet. So I need to do that. But yeah, I should be good now. So I

Information that actually have planned I had planned before before I went on this hiatus of sorts. So yeah, let's get straight into it
Now the first bit of news is character outfits will be far more customizable

Origins we really didn't have too much
We had the option of removing the hood and adding on a beard and I'm pretty sure that was it
in this game
we will have some of the similarities obviously from origins because it's a very similar game but um

Gear will be classified by rarity
Each piece of gear can be enhanced with engravings that might increase critical hit damage or fire damage

It's different pretty much. It's different from each of the gear not every year. It's the same and it looks better. It looks cleaner

So let's get on to the next thing the skill tree and the way abilities are triggered have both been adjusted
Some skills are common to any play style that includes things like calling for your horse or bird changing the game from day to night
and that feature obviously will be returning from origins or knocking out in recruiting enemies as
With origins the skill tree branches to offer new moves that cater towards range combat close swordplay or stealth
Now that divides it obviously in three clear
ways the same thing how it wasn't origins and
You basically can unlock higher versions of those said skills
Across several place. I was unlocking arranged ability fire multiple arrows that one and the stealth ability called rush
Assassination, which it lets you throw your spear at an enemy then warp to them for a potential kill and then chain a second kill
You can alternately forego the range in warrior skills and instead get rush
assassination up to level two allowing for a stronger initial initial attack and
Then a chance to chain not one but two more attacks to it and then unlock an extra stealth skill on top of that
That's significant. But the even bigger changes that players can now map many of the most action-oriented moves to the controller face button

London's knife crime epidemic continues as woman stabbed to death in her Greenwich garden - Duration: 4:37.
Police were called at around 11.3am this morning to reports of a body found in the rear garden of a house in Tunnel Avenue, south east London
Officers and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 5s, who was pronounced dead at the scene
The woman appears to have suffered stab injuries. A man in his 5s was arrested at the scene of the suspected murder
