What are German festivals for? - Duration: 5:00.
There's one thing you get a lot of in this part of Germany, and that's festivals:
loads of them of all kinds.
The people here can't get enough festivals, no matter how small or weird —
and some of them are seriously weird.
You may remember that I recently posted a video of a meadow-mowing competition.
What's up with that?
And earlier in the year a festival honouring the humble Volkswagen Beetle.
In my own village we have no shortage of festivals from spring to autumn:
The Queens' Kneipp Cure, the Straw Bale Festival,
the Fried Fish Festival, the Festival of Lanterns,
the Potato Festival, the Cheese Festival,
and something that is simply called "Das Fest".
The thing is, in a place like this they're not putting it on for the sake of tourists.
This isn't fake: this is the real deal.
These are actual Germans actually doing these actual things
for their own actual entertainment.
It all seems a bit... quaint, doesn't it?
In a sense, it is.
Go to bigger towns and cities, and the festivals there are more like funfairs.
Here, they race lawnmowers.
You have to admit though: racing lawnmowers is fun,
and surprisingly a lot of fun to watch.
Is that what this is about?
It is... and it isn't.
You see, having fun is great and all,
but there is a serious point to this.
In fact, a couple of serious points.
One of the first things I noticed about these festivals
is that a lot of people are not paying much attention to the actual festival itself.
They're sitting at tables, drinking beer, eating a meal,
and gossipping:
catching up on each other's news, keeping in touch.
This is social media rural style.
In a small village like this, everybody knows everybody else —
or at least everybody has met everybody else.
And so we're all part of one great big happy family,
and therefore any excuse will do to meet up.
And if that includes somebody doing something hilariously stupid but ultimately harmless,
that's a bonus.
It's not that country folk don't go to nightclubs or rock concerts or funfairs:
they have cars,
and it's actually not that far to Aschaffenburg or Hanau, or even Frankfurt.
But with these little festivals you have something the community has organized for itself,
and that's kind of the point.
You see, social life in rural Germany revolves around the club:
whether it's the local sports team or the shooting club
or the choral society or the brass band or whatever.
And it's these clubs that organize these events, sometimes in collaboration with each other.
It's the community working together.
And in a village this size, you can do that.
OK, but then you have the Festival Queens.
Most of the villages around here have one:
some young lady is chosen to be the Queen of something for the next year —
in my village, it's the Straw Bale Queen.
But the odd thing is, this isn't some kind of ancient tradition
whose origins are shrouded in mystery and legend.
It's much more recent than that:
it's post-war.
First and foremost, it's a PR stunt.
The local media turn up,
so the name of the village appears in newspapers and in online news videos.
I turn up to some of them.
The job of the Festival Queen is to go with her colleagues from neighbouring villages
to all the various events and festivals in the area
and get her picture, and therefore the name of the village she represents into the papers.
"Hello, Germany! Don't forget us! We grow your food!"
Not only that, but they get to network with local politicians,
and they even go on organized trips to the State Assembly in Munich and to Berlin.
And in their farewell speeches they invariably talk about
how in the past year they have grown in confidence
and how now they are perfectly comfortable
standing in front of 200 people and giving a speech.
You know what? If you want to encourage young women to seriously consider a career in politics —
and let's face it, we may have made some great strides in recent years,
but there's still a long way to go —
well, this might not be the worst way of going about it.

PANORAMA UPDATE #2 - Quick Overview + Text Color Mod Status - Duration: 3:31.
Hey guys, salut mes amis och hallå gubbar, Maxim here.
Just a couple hours ago we got a new beta update for Panorama, for bug fixes and other things.
It's been a long time since I've seen Valve add so much extra stuff into something so quickly
which is really awesome to see.
I'm going to look at some of the few things that are interesting to bring up and also
talk about my text color mod near the end.
I liked pretty much everything that Panorama had to offer but the scoreboard felt a little
off (I gotta admit), and they decided to focus a lot on that.
To begin with, the blur amount has been reduced.
This was something I did not like so much, and I'm happy they reduced it, I would honestly
like it if they reduced it even more.
They added more specific row definitions for other game modes, updated the skillgroup icons
(because for some reason they were using the old ones), they added support for Major tournament
names & event stages which will be cool to see, and they fixed a couple other things.
Now let's move to gameplay.
They've re-added "Show Team Equipment" and also a keybinding to the settings menu
so you can easily bind it from there.
The same for "Show Team Positions In HUD" under game settings.
The Buy menu background blur has been reduced as well, which I didn't feel was so necessarily
needed since you have all the information down here, but it's still very welcoming.
Health/armor and ammo background elements are back, and can be adjusted like before,
so we get a bit of contrast and clarity, very nice.
And then they've updated the drop shadows from colored hud elements.
Under this part of the update there was mostly fixes, more fixes, oh maybe you noticed that
I didn't cover the new CZ reload animation in my previous video?
Well, they changed it back to how it was before, as it was unintended...
I knew that.
Some people here will be happy to see that they fixed some 4 by 3 issues, then finally
we got some radar improvements.
That's pretty much the update.
Now you're probably wondering when will Panorama be out of beta?
My guess is in less than a week, but I don't work for Valve so, don't get disappointed if I'm wrong.
I was right about them releasing it when they did so I guess I got some skills.
Also, I do believe that more updates will arrive for Panorama before it's public release,
so we might see another update simillar to this one.
It's in everyones interest, ours and Valves to release it when everything seems to be
good to go.
Now I wanna talk about my Text Color Mod.
So as I suspected, Panorama kinda broke my Text Color Mod, but not only that, they also
changed some strings to make it harder for me to customize some values with HTML elements
and symbols.
Almost as if Valve knows about the Text Color Mod.
I had to redo a lot, but to share some good news, I'm really happy with my results so
far, and I will release the latest version of the Text Color Mod around the same time
that Panorama gets released officially.
Make sure you subscribe with notifications on so you know when that video comes out,
you obviously don't want to miss that.
Another thing I would like to announce really quickly or say but I know some of you already

Arsenal's new goalkeeper Bernd Leno has explained how a conversation with manager
Unai Emery persuaded him to seal a transfer to the Gunners this summer.

Emirates Stadium.

The 2018 Kia Forte5 SX is one step short of a hot hatch - Duration: 10:44.
Kia, which has blossomed into a well-rounded brand that makes more than just economy cars,
has recently set its sights on making sporty vehicles.
While the BMW-battling Stinger is basking in the limelight, there's a more affordable
option further down the lineup that does sporty on a budget – the 2018 Kia Forte5 SX.
Kia has offered the Forte5, a hatchback version of its regular Forte, since 2011.
A more powerful SX trim has always been available, but the model is now sportier than ever.
You might even call it a hot hatch, a category embodied by cars like Ford's Fiesta ST.
But unlike other hot hatches that have been heavily reworked to standard apart from their
more pedestrian siblings, you'll need a sharp eye to spot the Forte5 SX's sporty
touches.
Except for 18-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips, red accents, round fog lights, and a slightly
larger air intake on the front fascia, the Forte5 SX doesn't make its athleticism known.
The real changes are lurking under the skin.
Those includes a punchy turbocharged engine, a retuned chassis, stiffer suspension components,
and a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It may be the sportiest Forte5 model in the lineup, but Kia still hasn't forgotten about
what made its vehicles so popular: value.
So, the SX trim comes with nearly every feature you could ever want in a car, including some
high-tech ones that aren't offered on others in the segment.
On paper it has specs and features that resemble those of a hot hatch.
We tested a flagship model with a $28,395 sticker price, making it the most expensive
Forte5 in the lineup.
It's a far cry from the base, which starts at a more modest $19,195.
The automaker does offer the Forte5 in two other trims – the LX and EX – but those
are more about commuting from point A to B.
INTERIOR AND TECH Our top-of-the-line test car came with the
optional SX Premium Technology Package ($3,600) that brings a host of goodies, including sport
leather seats with orange stitching, a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel, and alloy pedals.
The comfortable seats provide a good amount of bolstering for when the mood for spiritedly
driving strikes.
A 7.0-inch touch screen in the center console includes both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
compatibility, both must-haves on any new car.
A 4.2-inch LCD display sits in between the gauges, providing driver-related info in an
easy-to-read layout.
Navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, blind-spot detection, lane-change assist,
rear cross-traffic alert, and HID headlights are also included with the package.
While Kia has consistently worked on its infotainment system, the unit found in the Forte5 SX is
still a little confusing to use.
For instance, it totally locks you out of using navigation when the car is in motion.
Luckily, getting your smartphone to handle all of the infotainment duties is simple:
Just plug it into the USB port that's conveniently located below the center console.
Despite being Kia's more affordable models, the Forte5 SX's cabin is a nice place to
spend a lot of time in.

You get dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and ventilated seats on top
of the standard heated chairs — all of which are included with the tech package.
The only thing that's missing in the package, and the car itself, is a decent audio system.
We would've loved to see a Harman/Kardon sound system as an option or as a part of
the available tech package, as the standard six-speaker system is subpar at best.
Because of the hatchback body style, the Forte5 SX boasts an airy cabin, even for five full-sized
passengers.
The car's available cargo capacity is impressive, as well.
There's 23.2 cubic feet of available cargo space with the rear seats in place, while
that figure opens up to a total of 56.4 cubic feet with the seats folded.
That last figure rivals some compact crossovers.
DRIVING EXPERIENCE While the rest of the Forte5 lineup makes
do with a 164-horsepower 2.0-liter inline-four, the SX trim gets a turbocharged 1.6-liter
inline-four that's rated to make 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.
Those figures are right on par with what other athletic hatchbacks have, but numbers only
tell half of the story.
There are two transmission choices for the 2018 Forte5 SX, including a 6-speed manual
and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The quick-shifting 7-speed transmission joined the Forte5 SX's list of features last year,
and helps give the vehicle some street cred in the hot-hatch segment.
Our tester came with the dual-clutch gearbox, which does a great job providing upshifts
and downshifts quickly and smoothly at high speeds, but struggles at lower speeds.
Punching the throttle from a standstill leaves the gearbox perplexed, offering little oomph
to begin with, and then suddenly allowing the engine to let loose all at once.
This makes it difficult to smoothly get away from a standstill.
The transmission also had trouble reversing, bucking like a wild horse at times and providing
absolutely no power at others.
Trying to parallel park was a hassle, as the engine offers a little bit of its power and
then takes it away a second later.
At higher speeds and higher gears, the issues with the transmission disappear.
It may not be the quickest dual-clutch on the market, but it shifts faster than having
to row through gears yourself and, thanks to the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters,
is fun to use.
The transmission will also hold gears for you, which makes it a willing companion on
a windy road.
The SX isn't a hot hatchback, but it's the comfortable and sporty hatch that has
everything you could ever want.
Speaking of curvy tarmac, the Forte5 SX really impresses in corners.
Its punchy engine propels it out of turns, while the taught suspension and stiff chassis
keep body motions to a minimum.
Lackluster steering feel keeps it from being as sharp as a Ford Fiesta ST or Volkswagen
Golf GTI, but the rest of the vehicle isn't far behind.
Where the SX shines over the competition is in everyday situations.
The ride never felt harsh, the cabin is quiet, and the powertrain offers more than enough
grunt to pass on the highway.
The SX isn't a true hot hatchback – competitors like the Focus RS trounce it by 150 hp — but
it's the comfortable and sporty hatch that has everything you could ever want.
When not driven with a lead foot, the Forte5 SX has a combined EPA rating of 27 mpg (25
mpg city and 30 mpg hwy).
In our testing, our SX got 32 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg around town, which is bang on for
its ratings.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety doesn't have crash-test scores for the Forte5.
The four-door, though, is one of the IIHS' Top Safety Pick+ choices.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Forte5 a five-start rating in the
side crash test and score of four stars for the rollover test.
WARRANTY The SX is backed by Kia's extensive warranty
coverage.
There's a 5-year, 60,000-mile new car warranty, as well as a 10-year/100,000-mile limited
powertrain warranty.
The anti-perforation warranty (which covers deep rust) and roadside-assistance plan run
the same length as the new car warranty.
HOW DT WOULD CONFIGURE THIS CAR If performance is what you're after in a
Forte5, the choice is simple: Go with the SX.
While we haven't tested a regular Forte5 with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the
punchiness of the turbocharged 1.6-liter motor is worth the price of admission.
Drivers who enjoy finding a good road to let loose on the weekends, will enjoy the sport-tuned
suspension, sport steering wheel, sport seats, alloy pedals, and shift paddles that are a
part of the car's standard features.
Unless you're an urbanite or deal with stop-and-go traffic everyday, we'd go with the 6-speed
manual transmission.
It shouldn't have any of the issues that we experienced and should make the hatchback
more engaging to drive.
While pricey, the SX Premium Technology Package is also worth the extra money.
CONCLUSION The Forte5 SX falls short of being a hot hatch.
It doesn't have the same playful nature or muscular look as tried-and-true competitors
like the Fiesta ST or Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The main draw of a hot hatchback is its ability to put a smile on your face.
While fun and engaging, the Forte5 SX just isn't as enjoyable as its gutsier peers
on a good road.
That doesn't mean it's a bad car, though.
In the real world, the Forte5 SX isn't that far off in terms of performance.
And at the end of the day, it doesn't require you to compromise interior space and features
for a sportier ride.
It's fun when you want it to be and composed and comfortable when you're just looking
to get from one place to another.
That makes it a worthy addition to everyone's shopping list for an economy car with some
personality.

K.): Más que aventura es la necesidad. Claramente para nosotros cobrar por contenidos en digital se transformó en su momento en una condición necesaria para seguir sosteniendo el modelo
Lo que veíamos es que un modelo sustentado exclusivamente en los ingresos por publicidad digital no iba a ser viable a mediano y largo plazo, básicamente porque lo que empezábamos a ver, y seguimos viendo, es una profunda contracción del negocio impreso tanto a nivel de la circulación de los periódicos y revistas como también en la publicidad gráfica
Y sobre todo que el crecimiento de la publicidad digital no nos iba a compensar la caída del mundo de la gráfica con lo cual necesariamente debíamos crear nuevas fuentes de ingreso
Que en realidad no es una nueva fuente de ingresos si uno lo piensa desde el mundo del off line donde siempre hubo ingresos por anunciantes que pusieron avisos y por parte de los lectores que estaban dispuestos a pagar por consumir esos contenidos
Con lo cual también siempre nos preguntábamos por qué en internet eso debía ser diferente, y no hay una razón por la cual deba ser diferente
Simplemente porque internet nació gratis hace 20 años y esto también fue un error

El 80 por ciento de los medios o publicaciones que tienen algún tipo de esquema de paywall adoptaron el modelo poroso en el que la audiencia tiene una cierta cantidad de notas por mes de manera gratuita y a partir de la nota n+1 es invitado a suscribirse
En realidad tenemos un modelo diferente al del The New York Times, que es más parecido al de los diarios de Brasil
Es un modelo llamado de dos ventanas porque tenemos el proceso de registro y también el de suscripción, entonces hay dos barreras, la primera es para registrarse y luego te dejo leer una cierta cantidad de notas extra y luego te pido la suscripción
SEMANA: ¿Cuántas notas dejan leer sin cobrar? J.K.: El único que es de libre acceso permanente es el home del sitio
El resto cuesta. Hoy tenemos el registro en 10 artículos con lo cual cuando la persona llega a esa cantidad es invitado a registrarse y si se registra, en un mes tiene derecho a 15 notas más
O sea el muro de pagos está hoy en 25 notas. El home sí es ilimitado, lo pueden leer las veces que quieran

K.: Acá es clave dimensionar el universo al cual estábamos pensando impactar con un muro de pagos y eso lo tenemos bien medido por dos razones: primero, porque nosotros antes de lanzar el paywall, dos años y medio antes lanzamos el sitewall, que es el muro de registro con lo cual ya veníamos registrando a toda la gente que consumía una cierta cantidad de notas
Esos son nuestros lectores fieles. Cuando pusimos el paywall, que lo lanzamos en 40 notas, ya sabíamos que en 40 notas impactábamos al 2 por ciento de nuestra audiencia, que es nuestra audiencia más fiel
Son solo 2 por ciento, para ser más exactos 2,2 por ciento. Cuando uno habla de cómo fue la reacción del público, los lectores, de la sociedad, la respuesta es que estamos impactando al 2 por ciento
Hay un 98 por ciento que ni siquiera se entera de que hay un muro de pagos. Hay comentarios en redes sociales, pues este es un tema cultural y ya sabíamos de antemano que era un mensaje que debíamos seguir difundiendo en la sociedad y es que el periodismo de calidad es una inversión, que es caro, y por eso nada estuvo desmesurado
Todos los reclamos que hubo estuvieron dentro de los parámetros que veíamos en otras partes del mundo, en términos de cantidad de reclamos
Lo que nos llamó la atención para bien, fue la rápida adopción que tuvimos, o sea, cómo los usuarios fieles reconocen y valoran la información que están recibiendo y están dispuestos a pagar y se están suscribiendo
SEMANA: ¿A ustedes les tocó cambiar la manera de hacer periodismo para prepararse para este sistema o simplemente siguieron haciendo las cosas como antes? ¿Dan contenido Premium adicional? J
K.: La pregunta es muy buena y la respuesta es muy interesante. Nosotros no estamos con el modelo premium o freemium
Creemos que es un modelo que hay que dejarlo decantar un poquito y luego, más adelante hacer un tipo de contenido cerrado para suscriptores
La respuesta a esa pregunta es que la manera en la que El Clarín está haciendo periodismo respecto a como lo hacía antes del lanzamiento del paywall no cambia
Está en el ADN de nuestro periódico hacer periodismo confiable y de calidad, eso estuvo siempre aun cuando no existía el mundo digital
Lo que sí cambia es que realmente se mide. Porque estamos midiendo todo lo que hacen los lectores ya registrados y también los suscritos
Se pone mucho foco en qué tipo de contenidos hoy nos leen los suscriptores, qué tipo de contenidos nos leen los registrados y qué tipo de contenidos nos leen los que llamamos los golondrinos, que entran una o dos veces por mes y ni siquiera sabemos quiénes son
Entonces la redacción se va adaptando a las distintas audiencias, para entender cómo se pueden abordar los contenidos de Clarín desde distintas ópticas para distintas audiencias
SEMANA: El desafío es mantener a ese suscriptor interesado todo el tiempo, a diario
Es un reto constante… J.K.: Hay experiencias diversas en el mundo. En el caso de Argentina -y hablo por Clarín y por La Nación, porque compartimos bastante información- hoy lo que sería la tasa de bajas o de abandono del modelo de suscripción digital no es significativa, de hecho es muchísimo menor que en el mundo del papel o del impreso
Hoy no es un problema. Sí entendemos que en algún momento pudo llegar a serlo, pero tenemos mecanismo de retención como también los tenemos en el mundo del papel
Pero la gente está suscribiéndose y continúa suscribiéndose. SEMANA: Ya que menciona a 'La Nación' entiendo que ustedes hicieron este modelo de pagos en forma simultánea
¿Cómo fue la comunicación entre los dos diarios? ¿Hubo estrategias conjuntas? En realidad lo lanzamos antes que ellos, en abril
La Nación lo lanzó en agosto, cuatro meses más tarde. energy and magic is something weird that people think it's ehhh fake

but shiroi and nyx are the same (so me)... gmm Well so.. they're a fairy
they're smaller than Nyx, andd... they can fly, they fly everywhere and everytime.... and.....and...and...... idk hjhjh

something important about Rubi is that they are genderless (because it's a fairy) even if i consufe Rubi's
pronounced with female pronoumbs... BECAuse it's kinda weird for me to use (the audio got chopped)
neutral pronouns because how you i speak spanish and in spanish the pronoumbs
they or them doesn't exist.. or well, they do but for plural only. There's no individual
pronoumbs so... if I confuse their pronoumbs (like i the whole video) just don't get confuse . They are genderless
(quick Note: they accept to be called with fem pronoumbs when they're in human furry form.)
so they are not a lesbian like the other of my CHARacters
even if they started to like Nyx uhgm.. they won't do it... ajhggm... just saying hjh
SHE (stoopid) can also transform into a human (furry) and have an human body because how you see
this form it's like a feral one and it's kinda smaller TwT and prettier ;3; and I don't know, anything else
else but yeesss yes-yes they can transform into a human for some specific time (chopped audio again ;;) idk how much, depending
they can also fight like any order of ocs but you can imagine
they're a fire elemental and something that very help them it's the magic
because Nyx also teach her how to use it because using magic they can- they can use
benefits of the Crystal inside of their bones and everything
