Hello everyone, in today's tutorial we do these
little "pigtail elves" crocheting
it is a very fast project to do, excellent as a Christmas decoration
It's beautiful on the Christmas tree,
but also on the windows, or to decorate a chandelier,
I think it's adorable
you can decorate them like me, or in any way you prefer
with the same scheme you can make smaller elves
they are both made of cotton,
to make the blue elf I used Drops love you 9
it is a beautiful recycled cotton yarn
to work with 3mm knitting needles
and, for how I work, a 3mm crochet is fine
you can use any yarn you like,
to work with a crochet about 3mm
for the red elf, I used the same pattern
with a thin cotton yarn (cablè n°5), and a 2mm crochet
as you can see we get a smaller elf
so we can also use smaller pine cones
it was a long time since I wanted to make a little "pinecone elf"
and this is my version
in the tutorial we see the development of the whole pattern and the assembly
I glued the elf to the pine cone with hot glue
but you can use the glue you prefer
like instant glue or cold glue
but stop the chatter and let's start the tutorial
we need:
a yarn to be worked with a 3mm crochet hook, in 2 colors
wadding, needle and sewing thread
scissors, wool needle, 3mm crochet hook
1 pinecone, 2 black beads for the eyes
optional: beads for decoration
let's start from the head and make a magic ring
round 1: 6sc (6)
when the round is woven, we pull the thread and close the ring
we weave in a spiral, so I suggest you
mark the beginning of the turn with a marker or a thread
round 2: 6inc (12)
round 3: (1sc 1inc)x6 (18)
round 4-6: 18sc (18)
round 7: (1sc 1dec)x6 (12)
when the 7th round is woven, we fill it with cotton wool
round 8: 6dec (6)
when the round is woven, we cut the thread, pull off
and remove the marker
insert the thread into a wool needle, and close the hole
passing through the outer loop of the chains
let's pull the thread
let's go through some other point, and knot it
and we hide the thread inside the head
cut
for the cap: we leave a long initial thread tail
we make a magic ring
and in the 1st round we weave 5sc
also for the cap we weave in a spiral, so I suggest you mark the beginning of the round
I do not put it because I want you to see how to weave the first few rounds
round 2-3: 5sc (5)
when we weave without increases
the crochet work is curled on itself
and, especially if we have few stitches,
we have to straighten up the work right away
in this way we see well the stitches, and how we are working
now I can see the stitches well
and we continue
when we have a few points in the round,
we must be patient, and continuously rotate the work
to see the next stitch
round 2-3: 5sc (5)
round 4: 1inc 4sc (6)
with the help of the crochet hook or of a needle,
we pass the thread of the magic ring on the right side of the work
round 5: 1inc 5sc (7)
round 6: 4sc 1inc 2sc (8)
round 7: 5sc 1inc 2sc (9)
round 8: 1inc 8sc (10)
round 9: (1inc 4sc)x2 (12)
round 10: (1inc 3sc)x3 (15)
round 11-12: 15sc (15)
round 13: (1inc 4sc)x3 (18)
round 14-15: 18sc (18)
round 16: (1inc 5sc)x2 (21)
round 11-18: 21sc (21)
round 19: 13sc 1slst
put the marker
round 19: 13sc 1slst
turn the work
we skip the slst
starting from the 1st sc we weave
round 20: 13sc 1slst
we weave the 13th sc in the 1st sc of the previous round
round 20: 13sc 1slst
turn the work
skip the slst
starting from the 1st sc we weave
round 21: 14sc 1slst
we weave the 13th sc in the last sc of the previous round
and the 14th at the base of the slst of the previous round
in this way
round 21: 14sc 1slst
turn the work
skip the slst
and starting from the 1st sc we weave
round 22: 15sc
we weave the 14th sc in the last sc of the previous round
and the 15th at the base of the slst of the previous round
in this way
from here we stop working in lines, and we restart working in a circle
so let's put the marker
round 23-25: 21sc
when we arrive at the slst, we weave the sc to the base of the slst
and we continue to weave normally
round 23-25: 21sc
when the 3 turns, of 21sc, are woven
we weave
round 26: 10sc 1slst
ch1 and cut a long yarn
this is the finished cap
with the lines we woven
we created this curve
so the cap is longer behind,
and less in front
with these last 3 rounds
which we have woven on the reverse side of the work,
we make the cuff in this way
having crocheted in this way, you can see
the straight side of the stitches on the whole cap
for the coat: we leave a long tail of yarn at the beginning
and let's make a slip knot
ch6
we close them in circles by weaving 1slst in the 1st ch
round 1: ch1, 6inc, each in 1 chain (12)
now we have 12sc in the round
turn the work
round 2: ch1, skip the 1st stitch,
(3hdc in 1 stitch, 1sc)x4
and repeat 3hdc in 1stitch and 1sc in next
we repeat this sequence 4 times in total
work the 4 sequences
3hdc in next stitch
skip 1 stitch and weave 1sc in last stitch
so the 2nd round is complete
turn the work
round 3: 3dc (we replace the 1st with 3ch) in the 1st stitch
the sequence that we repeat for the whole round is:
(skip 1st, 1sc, skip 1st, 5dc in 1st)x4
and repeat
enlarge the crochet work to see all the stitches well
(skip 1st, 1sc, skip 1st, 5dc in 1st)
we repeat this sequence 4 times in total
when the sequences are woven
skip 1st, 1sc, skip 1st,
3dc in the 1st ch of the previous round
ch1 and cut a long tail of yarn
the cape is ready
then in the 3rd round we weave:
the sc in the central hdc of the previous round
and the 5dc in the sc of the previous round
now that we have all the pieces, let's see how to sew them
put the head in the cap, like this
putting the part of the decreases inside the cap
so you will see the part of the increases, which is the most beautiful
let's put our head like this
so in the back part the head is covered
and we place the beads for the eyes
let's sew with some stitches
we use the thread of the cap,
and with a needle we hook the head and the cap
and let the thread pass over an existing stitch,
for example over this thread,
and we continue to sew
passing over the existing stitches, you do not see the stitches of the seam
when we're done,
let's get the thread out of one of the crochet holes and we do not cut it
with needle and thread we sew the beads for the eyes
we leave a wire tail at the beginning, we will need to knot the threads at the end
we pass 3 or 4 times from one side to the other
when we are done, we knot and hide the threads
we hide the final thread of the cape
and cut
we place the cape
we put the foundation chains of the cape,
at the first round of the head
in this way
we sew entering the magic ring and taking a chain of the cape
and repeat, for each chain of the cape
we knot and hide the thread
now we can decorate it as we prefer
I, for example, decorated
with bead, both the cap and the cape
I used needle and sewing thread
then choose some beads in which you can pass a small sewing needle
we choose a thread of the same color as the cap and cape
so the thread of the beads will camouflage with the crochet
when we are done, we knot and hide the threads
I propose you this type of decoration,
beads in the edge of the cape
in the center like a button
and a flower on the cap
if you like the straight cap, the elf is ready
if instead we want to crush the cap a little
we put it as we like it
using the thread of the magic ring, which we brought out
we enter the crochet work,
and pass through the points on the folds
in this way
blocking the folds we've created
let's pull the thread
finish by sewing some other stitch around
at the end we knot with the thread
with which we sewed the cap to the head
I also added a buttonhole to hang it up
if you want to see how to do this buttonhole without a knot
You can watch the Christmas tree tutorial from last year,
find the link in the information box, and in the top right corner
to glue the elf to the pine cone, we can use many types of glue
glue, cold glue, hot glue
I chose hot glue
we put a good amount of glue on the pine cone
and paste the elf
we press the elf on the pine cone for a few seconds
and the little elf is ready!
this is the result, I'm extremely satisfied with this job
I like them very much, it was a long time I wanted to make "pine cone elves"
and this is my version
they are very sweet, I think they are perfect as decorations for the Christmas tree, or for our home
on windows or chandeliers
I think they are delicious, and what do you think of them?
I'm waiting to see your version of this little "pinecone elf"
I wait for your photos, you know that you can share them on my Facebook page or in Instagram
I'm curious to read your comments below the video
I thank you very much for choosing to watch this tutorial
see you in the next video
in the meantime I send you a big hug and a kiss
CIAO!!!
