>> Adrienne: ON THIS MONDAY
NIGHT -- AID ARRIVES IN
INDONESIA.
RECOVERY EFFORTS ARE UNDER WAY.
WHY ARE THERE WARNINGS THAT
DANGER STILL LURKS?
>>> MARKET MELTDOWN.
U.S. STOCKS ARE ON TRACK FOR THE
WORST DECEMBER SINCE THE GREAT
DEPRESSION.
PRESIDENT TRUMP IS PLAYING THE
BLAME GAME.
IS HE RIGHT TO SAY IT'S NOT HIS
FAULT?
[SPEAKING CHINESE]
>>> AND THIS IS GETTING WORSE --
CHINA RESPONDS TO CRITICISM
ABOUT HOLDING TWO CANADIANS.
WHERE DOES THIS STANDOFF HEAD
NEXT?
THIS IS "THE NATIONAL."
>> Adrienne: TWO DAYS AFTER A
TSUNAMI CRASHED ON TO THE SHORES
OF INDONESIA, THE NUMBER OF DEAD
HAVE CLIMBED TO AT LEAST 373,
NUMBER OF INJURED, 1,400.
SOLDIERS AND VOLUNTEERS ARE
COMBING BEACHES AND WRECKED
BUILDINGS LOOKING FOR SURVIVORS,
BUT MOSTLY FINDING MORE BODIES.
THESE WOMEN CAREFULLY GATHERING
RICE THAT WAS SCATTERED WHEN
THEIR HOMES WERE DESTROYED.
THINGS ARE DESPERATE AND THEY
COULD GET WORSE.
THE TSUNAMI WAS CAUSED BY
VOLCANIC ACTIVITY AND THERE ARE
FEARS THAT IT COULD HAPPEN
AGAIN.
CHRIS O'NEILL-YATES CHASES DOWN

COMING BACK, BUT I HAD TO TO
TAKE WHAT I CAN.
I CAN'T GET THE IMAGE OF HUGE
WAVES OUT OF MY HEAD.
>> Reporter: INDONESIAN
PRESIDENT JOKO WIDODO VISITED
THE WORST AFFECTED AREA ON THE
WEST COAST OF JAVA.
IN FUTURE, METEOROLOGY AND
CLIMATOLOGY WILL PROVIDE
DETECTION EQUIPMENT THAT WILL
GIVE A WARNING, HE SAYS.
IN THIS CASE, THERE WAS NO
EARTHQUAKE, NO TREMBLING GROUND
AS WARNING.
THERE ARE SYSTEMS THAT CAN ALERT
PEOPLE TO UNUSUAL WAVES.
>> THE PROBLEM WE HAVE, IT WILL
NOT GIVE PEOPLE THAT MUCH OF A
WARNING.
IN THAT SITUATION, EVEN 10
SECONDS MAY GET SOME PEOPLE TO
HIGHER GROUND AND REDUCE THE
FATALITIES.
>> Reporter: IN TSUNAMI-PRONE
INDONESIA, WARNINGS ALONE WON'T
SAVE LIVES, SAID HIS CANADIAN
DISASTER RELIEF SPECIALIST.
>> THERE HAS TO BE A DETERMINED
EFFORT TO MOVE HEAVILY POPULATED
AREAS, IF POSSIBLE, AWAY FROM
THE WATERFRONT, FROM THE OCEAN.
BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE MOST OF
THIS DESTRUCTION HAPPENED.
>> Reporter: INDONESIAN
OFFICIALS SAY THE DANGER HAS NOT
PASSED.
THE ANAK KRAKATAU IS STILL
ERUPTING AND COULD POSSIBLY
TRIGGER ANOTHER TSUNAMI.
IN THE COMING DAYS, THEY'RE
TELLING PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM
COASTAL AREAS.
CHRIS O'NEILL-YATES, CBC NEWS,

THIS FORMER CANADIAN DIPLOMAT
SAYS THE NEXT STEP.
IS TO CALL THE CHINESE
PRESIDENT.
>> HE WILL HAVE TO SAY, WE
DEMAND YOU RELEASE THESE TWO
GENTLEMEN IMMEDIATELY AND THEN
THERE'S NEEDS TO BE AN OR ELSE.
>> Reporter: IF THAT DOESN'T
WORK, CANADA CAN WITHDRAW ITS
AMBASSADOR FROM BEIJING BACK TO
OTTAWA IN PROTEST OR EVEN PUT
SANCTIONS ON CHINESE DIPLOMATS
IN CANADA.
>> ALL OF THESE ACTIONS WOULD
LEAD TO A SEVERE DETERIORATION
OF RELATIONS BETWEEN CANADA AND
CHINA.
>> Reporter: IT'S A DELICATE

OFFICIALS SAY THEY WILL WORK
OVER THE HOLIDAYS TO TRY TO
RESOLVE.
OLIVIA STEFANOVICH, CBC NEWS,

A BRITISH COUPLE QUESTIONED AND
RELEASED IN THE COURSE OF THE

VIOLATED.
THEY INSIST THAT THE MEDIA OUTED
AND VILIFIED THEM.
AS BRIAR STEWART REPORTS,
THEY'RE FIGHTING BACK.
>> WE ARE DISTRESSED.

SEVERAL MEDIA OUTLETS IDENTIFIED
THE COUPLE.
THEIR NAMES AND PICTURES ON
THE FRONT OF THE PAPERS.
"ARE THESE THE MORONS THAT
RUINED CHRISTMAS?"
EVIDENTLY NOT, BECAUSE AFTER
BEING ARRESTED BY POLICE ON
FRIDAY, THEY WERE RELEASED
YESTERDAY WITHOUT CHARGES.
>> THE WAY WE WERE PERCEIVED IS
DISGUSTING.
THOSE THAT KNEW US DIDN'T DOUBT
US FOR A SECOND.

AND THAT CHANGE THE THE LAW SO
WE HAVE SECRET ARRESTS AND YOU
CAN BE ARRESTED, BUT YOUR NAME
IS NOT RELEASED FOR THE PUBLIC
AND MAY NOT BE PUBLISHED.
IT'S A BREACH OF PRIVACY.
>> Reporter: THERE'S NO DOUBT
THAT THE COUPLE'S NAMES AND
IMAGES HAVE BEEN SEEN AROUND THE
WORLD.
THIS JOURNALIST SAID IF THERE'S
A BLANKET BAN ON IDENTIFYING
PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN ARRESTED,
IT HURTS THE FREEDOM OF THE

>> IT CAN BE VERY PROBLEMATIC.
WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN CERTAIN
SITUATIONS ABLE TO SAY, THE

THEY'RE HOLDING THEM.
WHAT'S GOING ON?
>> THIS COUPLE FEELS THEIR LIVES

TWEETED FROM THE INTERNATIONAL
SPACE STATION THAT I TOOK ON AN
EXTRA JOB -- HELPING NORAD TRACK
SANTA.
ACCORDING TO HIS NEW LABOUR
CONTRACT, HE HAS THE DAY OFF
TOMORROW FOR THE HOLIDAY.
CATHERINE CULLEN HAD A GOOD
QUESTION ABOUT THAT -- HOW DO
YOU SPEND DOWNTIME WHEN YOU'RE
WAY UP THERE?

ASTRONAUT LABOUR CONTRACT.
ASTRONAUTS ARE ENTITLED TO 11
STATUTORY HOLIDAYS.
IN SPACE, THERE ARE DAYS OFF.
WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH YOUR
DOWNTIME IN CRAMPED QUARTERS
LIKE THIS?
AS CHRIS HADFIELD DEMONSTRATED,
YOU COULD PERHAPS TAKE A NAP.
MAYBE HAVE A SNACK.
>> PRETTY GOOD.
>> Reporter: EVEN WORK ON YOUR
PERSONAL HYGIENE.
>> THAT ONE GOT AWAY.
(*)
PERFECT.
>> DOES THE I.S.F. EVEN HAVE A
NETFLIX ACCOUNT?
ACCORDING TO JULIE PYATT, IT'S
NOT SO DIFFERENT.
>> WHEN YOU HAVE TIME, YOU CAN
READ A BOOK, YOU CAN WATCH A
MOVIE ON THE COMPUTER.
YOU CAN WATCH A PROGRAMME
UPLINKED FROM THE GROUND, BUT
MOST OF US, JUST LOOK OUT THE
WINDOW AT THE MAGNIFICENT
SPECTACLE WE HAVE, PLANET EARTH.
WE TAKE PICTURES AND HAVE
MEMORIES FOR A LIFETIME.
>> Reporter: SAINT-JACQUES WILL
HAVE CHRISTMAS DAY OFF AND
THEY'VE BEEN KNOWN TO CELEBRATE.
* I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
>> Reporter: THOUGH ON BOXING
DAY, IT'S BACK TO WORK.
ALSO IN THE NEW LABOUR DEAL, UP
TO $3,000 IN CASE YOU SUDDENLY

DIGNITARY.
$6,500 IN RELOCATION ALLOWANCE,
BUT MOVING TWO OUTER SPACE IS
NOT ELIGIBLE.
AND IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING,
ASTRONAUTS ON THE SPACE STATION

(*)
>> Adrienne: HERE'S SOME OTHER
STORIES WE'RE FOLLOWING TONIGHT,
BEGINNING WITH THE LATEST ON THE
POWER OUTAGE IN B.C., FIVE DAYS
AFTER THAT MASSIVE WINDSTORM.
>> THERE IS BASICALLY TREES DOWN
EVERYWHERE AND WIRES ON THE
ROADS.
SO WE'RE NOT HOPEFUL FOR POWER
BACK ON TOMORROW.
THERE WILL BE A LOT OF STUFF
COOKED ON THE WOOD STOVE OR CAMP
STOVE OR BARBECUES.
I THINK THE TURKEY IS GOING TO A
PROPANE OVEN IN THE
NEIGHBOURHOOD.
SO THE DINNER IS GETTING COOKED
IN MANY DIFFERENT PLACES.
IT WILL BE ALL RIGHT.
WE'LL HAVE CANNEDLED GOING.
IT'S GOOD.
>> Adrienne: SHE'S NOT THE
ONLY ONE SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN
THE DARK.
DESPITE 800 PEOPLE WORKING
AROUND THE CLOCK, B.C. HYDRO

ISLAND AND SOUTHERN GULF ISLAND
WILL BE WITHOUT POWER TOMORROW.
>>> IF YOU'RE PLANNING A
CHRISTMAS DINNER, YOU MIGHT BE

29 PEOPLE GOT SICK EATING
TAINTED LETTUCE THIS FALL.
>>> JUST AHEAD, DAVID COMMON
GOES BEHIND SCENES OF "THE
NUTCRACKER."
AN ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SPECTACLE
ALL ABOUT PRECISION AND
DISCIPLINE, AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT
THE AUDIENCE SEES.
>> THE PEOPLE THAT GET WHACKED
BY THE BRANCHES TEND TO BE THE
PERFORMERS IN THE BATTLE.
SO
[APPLAUSE]
>> Adrienne: CHECK OUT THESE TWO
CHARACTERS.
THEY'RE MAPLE LEAFS, GUEST
STARRING AS CANNON DOLLS,
GETTING INTO IT, LIKE THE
AUDIENCE.
"THE NUTCRACKER" IS A BELOVED
HOLIDAY CLASSIC AND EVERY YEAR,
THEY MOUNT THIS SPECTACLE.
MAKE NO MISTAKE, IT'S A BEHEMOTH
OF A SHOW, EVERYTHING WORKING IN
PRECISION OR IT SEEMS LIKE IT TO
US.
ON THIS CHRISTMAS EVE, DAVID
COMMON AGAIN TAKES US BEHIND THE
SCENES OF "THE NUTCRACKER."
(*)
>> Reporter: MAGNIFICENT AS IT
SEEMS, MIDWAY THROUGH THE FIRST
ACT, THERE'S A PROBLEM.
HERE A MOUSTACHE HAS COME
UNGLUED.
AN URGENT FIX FOR A KEY
PERFORMER SECONDS BEFORE HE'S
SET TO RETURN TO THE STAGE.
THE AUDIENCE HAS NO IDEA.
BUT WE HAVE UNPRECEDENTED
ACCESS.
WATCHING AS DANCERS THROW
SNOWBALLS OFFSTAGE.
AS ROLLERBLADING BEARS STAND BY
IN THE WINGS.
THE YOUNGEST PERFORMERS ARE JUST
6 YEARS OLD.
NOW PREPARING FOR THEIR
FIRST-EVER GRAND EVENT.
THIS IS MAKE OR BREAK FOR THE
NATIONAL BALLET, THE ANNUAL
RITUAL THAT HELPS TO PAY FOR THE
REST OF THE YEAR.
IT ATTRACTS HUGE AUDIENCES
EVERY DECEMBER, INCLUDING THIS
ONE.
THE FIRST FULL DRESS REHEARSAL
WITH WHAT WILL BE A FULL HOUSE,
AS THAT AUDIENCE BEGINS TO TAKE
THEIR SEATS, BACKSTAGE, THE SHOW
IS IN ITS FINAL PREPARATIONS.
FOR THE MAN THAT HELPED IT RUN
FOR DECADES, THE STAKES ARE
STILL HIGH.
>> WE'RE ON AN UNFORGIVING PATH.
I CANNOT CHANGE MY MIND AND
LEAVE.
>> Reporter: POINT OF NO RETURN.
>> IT KIND OF IS.
>> Reporter: A MONTH BEFORE SHOW
TIME, THE ENORMOUS EFFORT BEGINS
WITH MASSIVE SETS MOVED OUT OF
STORAGE.
NINE TRAILERS FULL.
>> GREAT.
>> HOW IS IT WHEN YOU PUT YOUR
ARMS UP?
TRY YOUR TIARA.
>> Reporter: MEANWHILE, SUGAR
PLUM FAIRIES ARE FITTED FOR
COSTUMES AND REHEARSALS BEGIN.
[APPLAUSE]
THE NATIONAL BALLET'S OWN MAY BE
EXPERIENCED AT "THE NUTCRACKER."
WITH THE NEED FOR SUCH A LARGE
CAST, MOST OF THE PERFORMERS
COME FROM OUTSIDE THE COMPANY,
MANY OF THEM JUST KIDS.
THEY WILL REHEARSE TOGETHER A
FEWER OF HANDFUL OF TIMES BEFORE
FACING A PAYING AUDIENCE A
GRUELING 26 TIMES.
SHOW TIME IS MOMENTS AWAY.
IT MAY NOT GET THE GLORY, BUT
THE TWO DANCERS STUFFED INSIDE
THIS HORSE CERTAINLY HAVE ONE OF
THE MOST CHALLENGING PARTS.
ONE OF THEM CAN'T SEE.
SO BOTH ARE LED GINGERLY ON TO
THE STAGE.
WHEN THE HORSE'S PART IS
COMPLETE, THE HEAVY COSTUME IS
HUNG, DANCERS SLIP OUT, RUSHING
TO THEIR NEXT ROLE.
WATCH OUT, A BIG MOVE IS ABOUT
TO HAPPEN.
IT TAKES 10 PEOPLE TO MOVE OUT
THIS CHRISTMAS TREE SET.
ON STAGE, THE BRANCHES SWING.
A MOVEMENT FROM BEHIND BY A
STAGEHAND.
ALL THAT SWINGING IS A HAZARD,
ONE DANCERS TRY TO AVOID.
>> THE PEOPLE THAT TEND TO GET
WHACKED BY THE BRANCHES, TEND TO
BE SOME OF THE PERFORMERS IN THE
BATTLE.
AND THERE IS SQUARE STEEL
UNDERNEATH THE DRESSING, SO IT
GIVES A GOOD BARK ON THE SHINS.
>> Reporter: THE PERFORMERS MAY
BE IN PEAK PHYSICAL SHAPE, BUT
"THE NUTCRACKER" IS AN
EXHAUSTING PERFORMANCE.
POISED AND PRECISE, BALLERINAS
ON STAGE STEP OFF BRIEFLY TO
RECOVER AND REHYDRATE.
AS THE END OF THE SNOW SCENE
NEARS, STAGE DIRECTOR JEFF
MORRIS IS STILL CALLING THE
SHOTS.
>> IT'S MAGIC, ABSOLUTELY.
IT'S SO SATISFYING.
WHEN YOU HEAR THE APPLAUSE, YOU
KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE
THAT MAYBE IT'S THEIR FIRST TIME
IN THIS TERRIFIC THEATRE, MAYBE
IT'S THEIR FIRST TIME SEEING A
BALLET, AND THE APPLAUSE IS
FANTASTIC.
(*)
[APPLAUSE]
>> Reporter: APPLAUSE FOR AN ACT
THAT SEEMS SERENE AND PRECISE,
BELYING THE ORGANISED CHAOS.
JUST BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE.
DAVID COMMON, CBC NEWS, TORONTO.
>> Adrienne: ALWAYS A BIT OF
CHAOS BEHIND THE SCENES.
PRINCE HARRY GAVE ROYAL WATCHERS
PLENTY TO CELEBRATE THIS YEAR.
WHEN WE COME BACK, HOW HIS LIFE
HAS BEEN SHAPED GROWING UP IN
THE SHADOW OF DIANA.
>> HE HAS FOUND A WAY TO LOVE
AND BE LOVED OF HAVING HOPE FOR
HIS FUTURE, OF KNOWING THAT HE
HAS HIS RESPONSIBILITIES AND HE
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
AND THAT HE CAN JUST BE HIMSELF.
>> Adrienne: 2018 HAS BEEN AN
EPIC YEAR FOR PRINCE HARRY AND
BY ALL APPEARANCES FILLED WITH
JOY FROM HIS SPRING WEDDING TO
MEGHAN MARKLE AND HIS TOUR OF
THE SOUTH PACIFIC, TO THE
INVICTUS GAMES.
WHICH HAS BECOME A SYMBOL OF
OPTIMISM FOR WOUNDED VETS.
NOW HE'S AN EXPECTANT FATHER.
FOR MANY, HE WILL BE THE LITTLE
BOY WHOSE MOM DIED WHEN HE WAS
12, A LOSS THAT SHAPED HIS LIFE.
ANYONE THAT KNOWS GRIEF KNOWS TO
MOURN SOMEONE, YOU HAVE TO CARRY
ON WHAT THEY STARTED.
PRINCE HARRY SAID AS DOING JUST
THAT.
HE FOUND THE LIFE HIS OWN, BUT
ALWAYS SHAPED IN THE SHADOW OF
DIANA.
>> 7, 8, 9, 10.
KEEP GOING.
>> Adrienne: WHEN YOU KNOW THAT
YEARS AGO, SOME DECLARED YOUR
LIFE OVER, DEATH MONTHS AWAY,
AND YOU SHOWED THEM YOU COULD
SURVIVE ANYWAY, YOU EARNED A
SMALL AS BROAD AS THIS.
HOW DOES THAT FEEL WHEN YOU DO
THAT?
HERE'S IS A LIFE FILLED WITH
SURPRISES.
SHE LEARNED SHE HAD H.I.V.
THE INFECTION WAS COURSING
THROUGH HER BRAIN.
THE BEST, THAT DOCTORS WOULD
SAVE HER AND SHE WOULD LIVE TO
MAKE A PRINCE OF A FRIEND.
HE'S BEEN BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN
TO SEE THOSE AT THE CLINIC,
THOSE STRUGGLING WITH H.I.V.
>> I THINK IT'S QUITE IMPORTANT
FOR HIM.
>> Reporter: CARRIE HAS BEEN BY
HIS SIDE EVERY TIME.
>> ONE OF THE PATIENTS I TOOK
HIM TO SEE WAS QUITE ILL AND HE
WAS QUITE SHOCKED TO SEE
SOMEBODY THAT ILL IN THIS DAY
AND AGE WITH H.I.V. IN HIS
COUNTRY.
(*)
>> Adrienne: THESE ENCOUNTERS
HAVE HISTORY.
PRINCE HARRY IN THE SAME PLACE,
SAME WAY AS HIS MOTHER.
DIANA STARTED COMING HERE IN THE
LATE '80s.
THINK OF IT.
SHE WAS CLUTCHING THE HANDS OF
THE VERY ILL AT A TIME WHEN FEAR
WAS SO ACUTE PEOPLE WERE
THROWING BRICKS THROUGH THEIR
WINDOWS.
>> PEOPLE WERE LOSING THEIR
JOBS.
>> Reporter: JULIAN WAS A NURSE
HERE.
>> PEOPLE HAD AIDS SCRIBBLED ON
THEIR DOORS LIKE GRAFFITI.
>> Adrienne: FOR DIANA TO BE SO
LOVING WITH THE LIKES OF THIS
MAN, MARTIN, WHOSE OWN FAMILY
HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM,
WHO WOULD SHIP BACK HIS LETTERS
WITH "RETURN TO SENDER" IS
REALLY SOMETHING.
>> SHE TOUCHED HIM.
SHE KISSED HIM.
AGAIN, IT JUST EXPLODED ACROSS
THE WORLD.
>> WHEN THIS PHOTOGRAPH WENT
PUBLIC IN THE MEDIA, HIS MOTHER
CAME TO VISIT.
AND THEY RECONCILED.
>> Reporter: IT WAS JUST IN
TIME.
MARTIN DIED TWO WEEKS LATER.
DIANA IS EVERYWHERE HERE.
AND NOW THAT IT'S HER SON THAT
SHOWS UP, IT'S THE SPIRIT OF HER
THAT HE SOMETIMES LOOKS FOR.
>> HE LOVES TO HEAR THE STORIES
OF HER VISITS HERE.
>> Reporter: CARRIE TELLS OF A
MIRACULOUS WOMAN WHO MET DIANA
AS AN ILL CHILD BUT SURVIVED.
HARRY HAD QUESTIONS FOR HER.
>> SHE SAID TO HARRY, I REMEMBER
CUDDLING UP ON HER LAP AND HOW
SOFT AND COMFORTABLE IT WAS.
HE SAID, "I REMEMBER THAT WELL."
>> Adrienne: OF COURSE, HE
WOULD.
HIS MEMORIES ARE THE FROZEN ONES
OF A CHILD, JUST 12 WITH THOSE
CLINCHED FISTS WALKING BEHIND
THE CASKET OF HIS MOTHER.
FOR THAT PERSONAL LOSS TO BE SO
PUBLIC HAS, AS HE HAS SAID,
MARKED HIM.
>> WHEN YOU'RE THAT YOUNG AND
SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENS TO
YOU, IT'S IN YOUR HEART AND HEAD
AND STAYS THERE FOR A LONG TIME.
AT THAT POINT, I WAS STILL -- I
WASN'T THERE.
I WAS STILL IN SHOCK.
(*)
>> Adrienne: THE OVERWHELMING
DISPLAYS OF PUBLIC SORROW HAVE
BEEN GONE FOR DECADES NOW.
BUT THE EFFECT OF THOSE SURREAL
MOMENTS HAS STAYED.
>> ON ONE LEVEL, I FELT FURIOUS
THAT SO MANY PEOPLE WERE CRYING
AND SCREAMING AND YELLING ABOUT
SOMEONE THEY DIDN'T KNOW.
>> Reporter: JULIA SAMUEL HAS A
LONG RELATIONSHIP WITH GRIEF AND
THE ROYALS.
>> ON ANOTHER LEVEL, IT FELT
COMPLETELY APPROPRIATE THAT
EVERYBODY DID BECAUSE THAT'S
WHAT WE WERE ALL FEELING.
>> Adrienne: SHE WAS A FRIEND OF
DIANA'S.
IS CLOSE TO HER SONS.
SHE'S ALSO A PSYCHOTHERAPIST WHO
HAS WRITTEN EXTENSIVELY ON
GRIEF'S GRIP IN "GRIEF
WORKS."
>> IT'S MESSY.
IT'S CHAOTIC.
IT FEELS LIKE THE WEATHER.
IT COMES AND HITS YOU WHEN YOU
DON'T EXPECT IT.
>> Adrienne: BY HIS OWN
ADMISSION, IT'S HIT HARRY
ESPECIALLY HARD.
THE LASHING OUT, ACTING OUT OF
HIS TEENS AND 20s WAS, IT SEEMS,
HIS WAY OF NOT DEALING WITH IT.
ON THE PRINCES, SAMUEL IS QUITE
PRIVATE, BUT CANNOT HIDE HER
PRIDE OF THEIR DECISION TO BE
OPEN ABOUT THEIR LOSS AS THEY
SEEM TO BE ROOTING FOR HIS
HAPPINESS.
>> BETWEEN THEM, THEY'VE REALLY
HELPED TO SAVE PEOPLE'S LIVES.
>> WE'RE WORKING WITH OUR
PARTNER CHARITIES AND THOUSAND
OF PEOPLE TO CHANGE THE WAY WE
THINK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH.
>> Adrienne: SAMUEL SEES WHAT
OTHERS DO, JUST AS THE PUBLIC IS
INVESTED IN HIS GRIEF, THEY SEEM
TO BE ROOTING FOR HIS HAPPINESS.
>> HE'S FOUND A WAY OF LOVING,
OF BEING LOVED.
OF HAVING HOPE FOR HIS FUTURE.
OF KNOWING THAT HE HAS
RESPONSIBILITIES AND THAT HE CAN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
AND THAT HE CAN JUST BE HIMSELF.
AND I THINK THAT'S WHAT CONNECTS
EVERYBODY TO HIM.
THAT HE FEELS SO GENUINE AND
DIANA WAS THE SAME WAY.
>> MY MOTHER CAMPAIGNED TO DRAW
ATTENTION TO THE HORRIFIC AND
INDISCRIMINATE IMPACTS OF
LANDMINES.
>> Adrienne: WHAT MATTERED TO
HER, BY DESIGN OTHER DEFAULT,
MATTERS TO HIM.
ALMOST ALL THE CHARITIES HE
THREW HIMSELF INTO, REFLECT HER
CAUSES, TOO.
THOSE WHO KNEW HER SAY DIANA
UNDERSTOOD PERFECTLY THE MEASURE
OF HER POWER.
HER ABILITY TO DRAG THE WORLD'S
MEDIA BY THE CAMERA LENSES
TOWARDS THE PEOPLE AND THE
CAUSES SHE FOUND IMPORTANT.
DRAW THE LIGHT AND THEN DIVERT
IT.
THAT'S A LESSON THAT STUCK.
AND THAT'S THE SECRET SAUCE
BEHIND SOME OF THE WEDDING
PLANS.
INSTEAD OF GIFTS, THE COUPLE
WANTS DONATIONS FOR SPECIFIC
CHARITIES, LIKE CHIVA, DEDICATED
TO KIDS LIVING WITH H.I.V. AND
THE STIGMA IT BRINGS.
THE VOLUNTEERS OF THIS TINY
GROUP HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WAS
COMING AND DOES IT EVER MATTER.
>> THE FACT THAT THERE WILL BE
CHILDREN BROUGHT UP IN ISOLATION
BECAUSE OF FUNDS FROM THE
WEDDING OPENS UP SOMEONE'S WORLD
IN AN INCREDIBLE WAY THAT I WISH
I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO
WHEN I WAS A LOT YOUNGER.
>> Adrienne: THIS IS PERSONAL.
MERCY WAS BORN WITH H.I.V.
WASN'T TOLD UNTIL SHE WAS A TEEN
AND THEN THEN WAS ADVISED TO
KEEP IT QUIET.
>> DON'T TELL ANYBODY.
IT WON'T BE ACCEPTED IN SOCIETY.
YOU KNOW, LIKE, OKAY, WHY ARE
YOU TELLING ME THIS?
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE
INFORMATION IF I'M NOT SUPPOSED
TO TELL ANYONE?
DO I JUST LIKE SIT WITH IT?
I DON'T KNOW.
AND, YEAH, SO I DIDN'T TALK
ABOUT IT.
>> Adrienne: SO SHE LIVED TWO
LIVES.
HANGING OUT WITH UNIVERSITY
FRIENDS THAT KNEW NOTHING ABOUT
IT.
ON THE WEEKENDS, VOLUNTEERING
WITH KIDS WITH H.I.V. FAR AWAY.
THE WORLDS DIDN'T MEET AND IT
WORKED UNTIL SHE GOT A CALL.
>> SO THIS IS THE DIANA'S LEGACY
AWARD.
>> Adrienne: SHE WON DIANA'S
AWARD FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO STEP
UP, AN HONOUR, BUT TO ACCEPT,
SHE WOULD HAVE TO OPEN UP.
THEY COULDN'T JUST GIVE IT TO
YOU, RIGHT?
IT MEANT YOU MAKING A BIG
DECISION.
WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO DECIDE?
>> THIS IS MY CHANCE TO STAND UP
AND MAKE SOME NOISE, I SUPPOSE.
IT IS A CONVERSATION THAT I HAD
BEEN HAVING, BUT HAD NOT
IMAGINED WHAT THE OUTCOME WOULD
BE LIKE.
I DECIDED THAT I WOULD COME OUT
AND TELL EVERYONE.
>> Adrienne: BEING OPEN CHANGED

EXTRAORDINARY RESCUE OPERATION
DEEP IN A CAVE IN NORTHERN

GRABBED EVERYBODY'S ATTENTION

IF THEY FIND THESE KIDS, THEY
PROBABLY WON'T BE ALIVE.

THEM AND THE SHOT OF THE KIDS
AND THEIR COACH HUDDLED ON THE
ROCK, SITTING THERE, ESSENTIALLY
WAITING TO BE RESCUED, WAS JUST
UNBELIEVABLE.
>> WE'RE HAPPY, TOO.
>> Reporter: IT WAS AN
INCREDIBLE STORY.
ONCE THE OXYGEN LEVELS IN THE
CAVE STARTED DROPPING, CBC MADE
THE DECISION TO SEND US.
WE GOT A CALL 6:00.
A M. SATURDAY MORNING AND WE
WERE ON A FLIGHT A FEW HOURS
LATER.
I'VE COVERED QUITE A FEW MAJOR
EVENTS WHERE YOU HAVE MEDIA FROM
ALL OVER THE WORLD, BUT NOTHING
LIKE THIS.
THERE WERE SEVERAL HUNDRED
MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA THERE.
BY THE TIME WE GOT THERE, IT WAS
ORGANISED.
THERE WAS A MEDIA CENTRE.
IT WAS RAINING SO MUCH, MEDIA
HAD BEEN HUDDLED UNDER A TARP
TRYING TO PROTECT THEIR LAPTOPS
AND CAMERA GEAR FROM GETTING
WET.
AROUND THE OUTSIDE, VOLUNTEERS,
VOLUNTEERS THAT HAD COME DOWN
WITH THEIR MOTORBIKES AND THEY
WERE ABLE TO FERRY MEMBERS OF
THE MEDIA TO -- THE CLOSEST WE
COULD GET TO THE ENTRANCE OF THE
CAVE.
THAT'S WHAT THEY DID ALL DAY.
THEY FERRIED MEDIA BACK AND
FORTH.
AND DOWN THERE, THERE WERE MORE
VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS COOKING
NOODLES, MAKING COFFEE.
AND IT SHOWED WHAT A COMMUNITY
EFFORT IT WAS.
IT WAS VERY MUDDY.
WE HAD TALL RAIN BOOTS ON THE
WHOLE TIME.
IF YOU DROPPED A MICROPHONE OR A
CABLE, IT WOULD GET STUCK IN THE
MUD.
AND THEN YOU HAVE THE HUMIDITY
AND EVERYTHING ON TOP OF THAT.
THE CHALLENGES OF BEING IN THAT
ENVIRONMENT.
I THINK ONE OF THE MOMENTS THAT
STUCK OUT IS WHEN WE WENT TO ONE
OF THE SCHOOLS AND IT WAS WHERE
ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS WENT TO
SCHOOL.
THIS BOY WAS THE ONE, BY THE
WAY, WHEN RESCUERS REACHED THE
TEAM, HE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT
SPOKE ENGLISH.
HE WAS A STAR ATHLETE.
HE SPOKE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT
LANGUAGES.
HEARING ABOUT WHAT A HIGH
ACHIEVER HE WAS AND BEING ABLE
TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE DIVERS
WHEN THEY FOUND THE TEAM, THEY
HAD THIS WHOLE SHRINE UP TO HIM
IN THE ATRIUM OF THE SCHOOL.
THEY HAD PICTURES OF HIM.
PICTURES THEY HAD DRAWN.
WORDS OF COMFORT AND GOOD
WISHES.
IT WAS AMAZING TO HEAR ABOUT HIS
PERSONAL STORY.
ALL THE RAIN THEY PREDICTED AND
FEARED HAS ARRIVED.
SO OFFICIALS WILL WATCH THE
WATER LEVEL INSIDE THAT CAVE
VERY CLOSELY WHEN THEY START THE
NEXT AND POSSIBLY FINAL RESCUE.
SO THE THIRD DAY OF THE RESCUE
OPERATION, THERE WAS A SENSE
THAT THEY WERE GOING TO TRY TO
BRING OUT ALL FIVE ON THE FINAL
DAY.
THERE WAS A WHOLE PROCESS.
ONCE THE BOYS WERE RESCUED FROM
THE CAVE, THEY WERE TAKEN IN AN
AMBULANCE.
DRIVEN TO A HELICOPTER.
PUT IN THE HELICOPTER, AND FLOWN
TO THE HOSPITAL.
SO EVERY TIME YOU SAW THAT
HELICOPTER TAKE OFF, YOU KNEW IT
WAS ANOTHER BOY THAT WAS OUT OF
THE CAVE.
THERE WAS A RUNNING TALLY.
PEOPLE SAID, THAT'S ONE, THAT'S
TWO, THAT'S THREE.
[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
AND BY THE TIME THE HELICOPTER
TOOK OFF THE FIFTH TIME, YOU
KNEW THE ENTIRE TEAM WAS OUT OF
THAT CAVE.
[SINGING]
THERE WAS A LOT OF
CELEBRATIONS.
WHERE WE WERE DOWN BY THE
VOLUNTEERS, PEOPLE WERE SINGING
AND DANCING.
I WAS INTERVIEWING A WOMAN, WHO
HAD BEEN VOLUNTEERING,
TRANSLATING.
DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE
INTERVIEW, SHE GAVE ME A HUG.
AND THAT REALLY STAYS WITH ME
BECAUSE, FOR ONE, PEOPLE
TYPICALLY DON'T HUG ME IN THE
MIDDLE OF AN INTERVIEW, AND SHE
WAS SO HAPPY THAT THAT'S HOW SHE
WANTED TO EXPRESS HERSELF AT
THAT MOMENT.
AS A REPORTER, A LOT OF THE
TIMES YOU COVER THINGS WHERE
THERE'S NOT A HAPPY ENDING,
WHERE THERE IS A TRAGEDY.
AND IT'S BAD NEWS.
IN THIS CASE, IT WAS REALLY
INTERESTING TO BE THERE WHEN IT
WAS A REALLY GOOD OUTCOME.
>> Ian: OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE THERE
ARE THRILLED AT THE OUTCOME,
ANXIOUS TO SEE THE BOYS.
WHEN MIGHT THAT HAPPEN?
>> Reporter: SOME OF THE PARENTS
HAVE ALREADY VISITED THE BOYS IN
THE HOSPITAL AND MORE WILL SOON.
THIS IS A STORY WHERE EVERYBODY,
EVERYBODY WAS ROOTING FOR THAT
TEAM AND FOR ALL THE RESCUERS
AND, YOU KNOW, REPORTER OR NOT,
YOU CAN'T HELP BUT BE TOUCHED BY
THAT.

AND SO THERE'S A CONNECTION

>> Adrienne: ON THIS CHRISTMAS
EVE, PEOPLE IN THE NETHERLANDS
ARE LIGHTING CANDLES AT THE
GRAVES OF FALLEN SOLDIERS FROM
THE SECOND WORLD WAR.
MANY OF THOSE SOLDIERS WERE, OF

THIS IS A TRADITION THAT STARTED

FOUR YEARS AGO, ONE MAN, DICK

COUNTRYMEN COULD DO BETTER THAN
THAT.
PEOPLE ARE GATHERING AT HUNDREDS
OF CEMETERIES IN THE NETHERLANDS
AND ACROSS WESTERN EUROPE.
THAT'S OUR "MOMENT" TONIGHT.
>> IT CAME OVER IN HOLDEN, 28
YEARS AGO, WITH A WOMAN FROM
FINLAND.
AND IT WAS A TRADITION IN
FINLAND TO BURN A CANDLE FOR
PEOPLE BY THEIR GRAVE ON
CHRISTMAS EVE.
SO I THOUGHT, WHY ONLY THERE?
THE YEAR LAST, WE HAD 250.
LAST YEAR, 280.
THIS YEAR, MORE THAN 325
LOCATIONS IN THE NETHERLANDS.
THE NETHERLANDS, THEY WERE
LIBERATED BY THE CANADIAN
SOLDIERS DURING THE WAR.
SO THERE'S A CONNECTION BETWEEN
CANADA AND THE NETHERLANDS.
THEY'RE OUR HEROES.
THEY PAID THE HIGHEST PRICE A
MAN OR A WOMAN CAN PAY AND IT'S
FOR YOUR AND MY FREEDOM.
WE CAN SPEAK AND DO WHAT WE LIKE
TO DO AND WE MAY NOT FORGET
THEM.
>> Adrienne: DICK JANSEN SAID
FOUR YEARS AGO WHEN HE THOUGHT,
WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS, LIKE
ANY MOVEMENT, HE THOUGHT HE
WOULD GET ONLY A MODEST
REACTION.
HE STARTED A FACEBOOK GROUP.
FIGURED MAYBE 20 PEOPLE WOULD
SIGN UP.
HE SAID THE REACTION WAS SO
SWIFT AND SO BIG HE THOUGHT HIS
COMPUTER WOULD BURN UP.
AND THAT FIRST YEAR THEY HAD 150
PLACES AND NOW 325 PLUS.
THAT ARE DOING THIS.
THAT IS "THE NATIONAL" ON THIS
CHRISTMAS EVE.

Monster Mill - 02 Mounting the Dual Axis - Duration: 7:14.
Llet's see what's new on the monster mill
So we have vectric here it's what I use to create my g-code and what I've done
is I've drawn the bottom plate so this whole thing represents the bottom plate
this line here and this line here represent the distance between my slots
on the mill actually these three lines do and you can see that this hangs past
the edge so unless I put a slot in here I have no way of getting a screw in
place that allows me to select my tool that I'm going to use and I selected a
12 millimeter and milk and
it said it was gonna do it in six passes I thought you know I'm not in a hurry
here so I want to edit that so I told it let's do one pass per millimeter 22
passes in total all right and set that up and so that will give me the in this
that will give me the 22 passes on here I want to cut inside these lines so I
tell it calculate it's warning me that it's going to cut through the material
and so now it's generated the tool pants for me and I want to verify that they
look good so I am going to tell it to preview all tools and I've got it slowed
down just to kind of show you what it should be doing so it's making a move
and it's cutting on one side coming around and cutting on the other and it
should not touch both walls at the same time so I should get a good clean path
using a conventional cutting which should eject the chips pretty well and
once that's done I'll be ready to bolt this back on to the the table section
and then bolt the table section down and as I said I could have done it more
aggressively maybe two and a half millimeters per pass but I've been out
of practice with machining heavy aluminum and I didn't want to take a
chance on messing it up I'm not really in a big of herself
there we go first thing I need to do is I've got this plate fairly lined up it
doesn't have to be like down to a thousandth of an inch I'm just cutting
some slots in there the next thing I need to do is make sure that it doesn't
move and if you haven't seen it before these are the parts of a clamping kit so
there's a T slot nut which looks like this it goes into the slot
this then the next thing that we have is the little staircase it sits like this
then this bar sits on top of it like that and you always want to make sure
that the bar is slightly facing downward then you put the nut on there so now the
force is downward okay so you've got my wrench
down evenly all right so now it's not going to go anywhere what I'm cutting
into it because I'm going to be cutting a slot here here here and here
so the next thing I need to do is I need to align my tool with this corner so I'm
going to go do that next off-camera I don't mind telling you I've been cutting
with a little 2 millimeter bits that are about like that big and this thing here
is a razor sharp single float 12 millimeter bit it's just freaking scary
man so it's been a while since I've cut big stuff so
so now I got to do is I've got to set the zero on this z-axis so I'm going to
bring it down a little bit good I'm gonna touch it off to zero and then I'm
going to raise the table up and that's how I'm gonna set my zip my zero point
all right so I've got my mists coolant ready so that will keep it cool bring
that down and put it close I'm going to set the feed override to about thirty
percent I'd rather do it a little bit slow and ramp up speed if I hand over to
East stop and rock on baby
this is enough for tonight I've got it mounted down here it is not going
anywhere and I had some little magnet so I stuck
them in here to hold the wire down it's kind of crazy but it'll work at least
for now so that's it for this video I'm gonna come up with something that I can
machine and we'll see where that takes us
so thanks for watching
you

The Truth About Christmas: Jesus, Santa, & Rudolf! - Duration: 5:20.
The popular legend of Christmas goes something like this:
Jesus was born on December 25
and / or Santa Clause, who lives at the North Pole
will fly with his reindeer around the world,
come down through the chimney at midnight December 25
dressed in a red and white suit,
and leave presents under an evergreen tree.
Now for the truth:
At the North Pole, the winter is dark.
The sun literally does not rise for weeks or months.
This is because the axis of the Earth is tilted.
In the summer, the North Pole of Earth is facing toward the sun
so it is daytime 24 hours a day.
In the winter, the North Pole is facing away from the sun
so it is nighttime 24 hours a day.
The tilt of Earth's axis is also the reason that, in the Northern Hemisphere,
the sun appears to sit higher in the sky in June
and lower in December.
The North Pole of Earth reaches its furthest point from the sun
on the Winter Solstice: December 21-23,
and it reaches its closest point to the sun
on the Summer Solstice: June 21-23.
The Fall and Spring Equinoxes are the exact halfway points between each extreme.
As the Earth rotates on its axis,
the sun appears to reach its highest point each day at 12 noon.
So if we look at the sun at 12 noon everyday of the year,
it appears to move higher and lower in the sky.
If we look at the sun at 12 noon on December 22
it appears to be at its lowest point in the year.
Then it begins to move higher until on March 21-23 it reaches its middle point,
and on June 21-23 it reaches its highest point.
Then it appears to move lower in the sky
until it reaches the middle point again on September 21-23
and its lowest point on December 21-23.
In the Polar regions the sun's lowest point in the sky
results in complete darkness for weeks or months.
This is called Polar Night.
The length of the Polar Night depends on the latitude.
At 70 degrees North Latitude,
the sun at 12 noon is just below the horizon on December 21
but on December 25 the noon sun is just above the horizon.
It reaches its lowest point from December 21-23,
then literally starts its ascent upward on December 25.
Long ago, people in the North lived in tee pee structures called yurts.
In order to stay warm, they would set a campfire in the middle of their yurt
and the smoke from the fire would exit through the hole in the roof.
In the winter, deep snow would accumulate around the outside of the yurt
so the hole in the roof (or chimney) was used as the door.
Food was also scarce during the winter,
so the people would dig around the base of evergreen trees
to find mushrooms.
In sub-arctic climates these were the red and white Amanita Muscaria mushrooms
that were symbionts with pine and birch trees.
The mushrooms were heavy when fresh
so they would dry the mushrooms on the branches of the pine trees
then come back later to gather them up in a big sack
and carry them back home and down their chimneys.
Reindeer are also known to dig for these red and white mushrooms
beneath Pine Trees.
The mushrooms can cause hallucinations of flying
which may explain the idea of flying reindeer.
December 25 was truly a date to celebrate for these people
because the sun literally went away and then came back on this date.
This yearly movement of the sun
was also viewed in ancient times at the rising and setting of the sun.
On the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere,
the sun rises to the right of due East,
on the Spring Equinox it rises in the middle of due East,
on the Summer Solstice, it rises to the left of due East,
and on the Fall Equinox it is back in the middle.
So, from our perspective on Earth there are four major positions of the sun
throughout the year: the Summer and Winter Solstices
and the Spring and Fall Equinoxes.
Facing South, the sun reaches its highest point in the sky at the start of summer
and its lowest point at the start of Winter.
Facing East, the sun rises to the far left at the start of summer
and rises to the far right at the start of winter.
This up, down, left, right movement of the sun from our perspective on Earth
was most likely the foundation of the ancient Sun Cross.
The ancient book of Psalms 19:4,5 says that the Sun is as a Bridegroom,
and Mark 2:18-20 says Jesus is the Bridegroom.
So the Sun, representing Jesus, dies on the cross around December 22 each year,
then rises again three days later on December 25.
This is not the actual birthday of Jesus,
instead it is the rising of the sun, representing Jesus.
For more information on the true birthday of Jesus,
the ancient calendar,
and / or recent fulfillments of ancient prophecy, see the links at the end of this video.

6 Reasons Why The English Like Apologising - Duration: 5:41.
6 Reasons Why the English Like Apologising It is no secret that English people like to
use the word 'sorry' a lot.
Originally, it was used to express remorse or apologise for wrongdoing, but English people
are using it for more.
Such as, apologising for bad weather and noisy restaurants, when you bump into them, when
someone sneezes, when asking a question, when they are late, etcetera – basically everything
and anything under the sun.
A YouGov study found out that an average British apologises 8 times a day, with 1 out of 8
apologising for up to 20 times a day.
In the past hour or two, they have said sorry at least once.
36% of British people are more likely to apologise for another person's clumsiness compared
to 24% of Americans.
British even readily apologise for things out of their control.
This study affirms a well-known fact – the English love saying sorry; probably as much
as they love their tea!
So, what might be the reasons for this love?
Number 1.
To express empathy They use sorry to acknowledge an unideal situation
regardless of whether its within their control or not.
If it is raining, an English man would most likely start the conversation with 'I'm
sorry about the rain…'
This habit of being empathic can be traced back to the first Anglo-Saxon speakers.
Sorry was then used to show remorse and apologise for minor inconveniences.
As English grew and evolved, the English people adopted this habit of saying 'sorry' for
minute inconveniences as a way of expressing empathy.
Number 2.
To get what you want Saying sorry is a clever means of getting
what you want.
Apologizing to a stranger before asking for favour warms their heart and makes them more
receptive to giving you what you want.
In fact, there is an experiment by Harvard Business School's Alison Wood Brooks backing
this.
A male actor approached a total of 65 people, 30 of whom were women, when it was raining
and asked to use their phone.
In the first group, he apologised for the rain before going ahead and borrowing their
phone.
In the second, he directly asked for their phone without any apology beforehand.
47% of individuals positively responded to him when he first apologized, compared to
9% when he didn't.
He got what he wanted because he apologised for something that's clearly out of his
control.
This made him look trustworthy and humane, hence, people easily gave in to his request.
Number 3.
To foster trust An English person is more likely to apologise
before sitting next to you or asking a question.
They will also readily apologise for harsh climatic conditions.
Apologizing for circumstances you can't control like bad weather shows you understand
someone else' perspective and how bad the situation is.
It's like you are putting yourself in their shoes.
It makes you look trustworthy and more approachable.
An experiment was carried out where 178 students played a financial computer game located in
different rooms.
They were warned in advance that sometimes the computer would override their decisions.
Students whose partners apologised when that happened were rated by their partners to be
more trustworthy than those who didn't.
Number 4.
To soften awkward and confrontational interactions Should an English man find himself in an awkward
or otherwise confrontational situation, they are more likely to blurt out 'sorry' than
any other word.
It's a reflex.
In fact, if they hit a lamp post, they will apologise!
It just comes naturally.
One reason for this is to avoid an otherwise unfavourable interaction.
Picture this: You are walking down the street.
Accidentally, you bump into someone.
Let's assume this individual is passive aggressive.
But then, you immediately say 'I'm so sorry for bumping into you'.
Even if the person was going to give you a piece of his mind, they would probably rethink.
Now, the English take this to another level.
They will apologise even if you are the one who hit them.
Kate Fox carried out an experiment for her book 'Watching the English: The Hidden Rules
of English Behaviour' where she intentionally bumped into English people on the street.
She found out that 80% of individuals apologised even though it clearly was Kate's own fault.
The reason: to diffuse an otherwise awkward or confrontational social interaction.
Number 5.
Because of their society The English society, unlike America, embraces
negative politeness.
America's is positive politeness.
Negative politeness states that interactions of social nature emphasizes boundaries.
Positive politeness, on the other hand, values friendships and closeness over boundaries.
If someone wants to borrow your phone in, say, a positive polite society, they would
say something in the lines of: 'Hey my friend, how about you lending me your phone?'
The person leverages on friendship when he says 'my friend' to make the request.
The same situation would unfold differently in a negative polite society like in England.
That's because they approach situations cautiously to avoid confrontation and imposition.
An English person would say something like; 'Sorry, I was wondering if you could lend
me your phone'.
Sorry and please are frequently used to caution their requests.
Number 6.
As a way of being polite The English people pride themselves in their
remarkably good manners and social etiquette.
They are generally more polite than their European neighbours and Western counterparts.
The only other country that comes close is Japan.
Since saying sorry is considered a word showing politeness, they naturally say it more as
a reflection of who they are.
In conclusion The English apologise more than anyone because
they use 'sorry' in contexts other people wouldn't.
Next time you are in England, be prepared to hear more 'sorry' than your ears are
used to.
If you enjoyed this video, do give a thumbs up.
But if you didn't, I'm sorry.

5 Poi Tips for Learning New Tricks - Duration: 5:26.
I know, I know!
You came here to learn poi tricks and believe me I will be happy to oblige, but today I
wanted to talk a little bit about how we learn because it has a huge impact on your experience
of picking up those new tricks.
Drex here from DrexFactor.com and today I'm sharing with you my top 5 tips for picking
up new poi tricks.
Please join my notification squad by hitting the subscribe button and the notification
bell so you know exactly when I drop a new video.
I'd also like to send out a quick thank you to the friends of the channel!
Big thanks to Dark Monk, Flowtoys, LMF Props, Spinballs, and Ultrapoi for helping to make
the videos on this channel possible.
You can learn more about each of them by following the links down in the description of this
video.
Any way you slice it, learning something new can sometimes be a challenge.
Sometimes you pick something up right away like it was always meant to be.
Sometimes you'll agonize over a new trick for months or even years with no relief in
sight.
I recently picked up a trick I was working on for over a year and it was a great reminder
of some of the best ways I know to approach learning.
Now I'd like to share some of those lessons with you!
Tip number 5: Break down a trick into smaller pieces
New tricks are always more intimidating when you take them as a whole.
Make your life easier by looking not at what the trick is, but at what it's made of.
Every trick is made up of several more base level skills that come together as a whole
to make a more complex skill possible.
The foundation to success in learning anything is to figure out what all these base-level
skills are and get to work drilling them.
Break the trick down piece-by-piece to figure out what each of these skills are and work
on mastering each of them before moving onto the next step.
Not only will this make the final trick easier to get down, but it'll also teach you foundational
skills that may be helpful for other similar tricks!
Tip number 4: Identify where improvement is needed
None of us likes to admit it when we've got room to improve.
It's easy to throw our hands up and just say it wasn't meant to be or maybe this
trick isn't for me.
But finding those moments where you have an opportunity to improve are absolutely critical
for your growth not only as an artist but also as a human being.
It can be hard looking at your work and seeing how far away it is from what you want it to
be, but by identifying the things you'd like to improve on it'll help you set goals
and get from point A to point B.
And let's face it: dealing with your own internal critic is a huge challenge as well.
But the other option is to just simply stall out.
For the work you've already put in to become irrelevant.
So look at those flaws and those places where the trick doesn't look right not as flaws
but as opportunities.
You get to learn something new.
And when you make a breakthrough it always feels good.
Tip number 3: Ask for help
This might be one of the hardest pieces of advice on this list but I can't overemphasize
how important it can be.
Let's be honest with ourselves, here: I don't know everything and neither do you.
But sometimes there are people out there who've come before us and can help us through some
of the harder parts.
They can help us identify where we're going wrong and how we can fix those problems.
It's also not uncommon that we get stuck in a place where we are so focused on one
aspect of our training that we totally miss something else that's not working.
Having another set of eyes can help to clarify that.
Know when to ask for help as well as when you just need to sit on your practice for
a little while.
It's a bit of wisdom that comes with time but ultimately will save you a lot of strife.
Tip number 2: Be patient with yourself
Hey, this stuff is hard.
If it weren't then everyone would be doing it.
Cut yourself some slack.
The fact that it's taking a while to learn something new doesn't mean that you're
bad at it.
It just means that the road to getting there has a few bumps in it.
If you're getting frustrated, tired, or just need a breather in general don't be
afraid to take a fiver or break for the night.
You're going to make mistakes and take wrong turns in learning new things.
It's okay.
Forgive yourself.
You're human and it's going to happen.
Remember why you started spinning poi.
How good it felt when you learned your first few tricks.
You're going to feel that again, you just need to be patient.
Tip number 1: Commit to the journey, not the destination
Okay, so this is going to sound like the most counter-intuitive piece of advice on this
list, but bear with me.
On one hand, a lot of people will set goals by saying they want to get a given trick down
by such and such a date and those goals can be very helpful for motivating people to practice
regularly.
But on the other, you can't really schedule breakthroughs.
They tend to happen when they're going to happen and only after you've laid down the
groundwork for them.
And yes: we all know that you're practicing because you want to learn that new trick,
but the fact of the matter is you're going to spend way more time working up to that
trick than you will doing it.
So here's my novel suggestion: commit not to getting down gunslingers or polyrhythm
hybrids or whatever other tricks you have on the to-do list, commit to practicing them.
Set aside some time every day or every week that you're going to work on this new trick.
Commit to the journey, not the destination.
If you make the practice itself the reward, it's going to become a whole lot less frustrating.
And it's going to make your experience as a poi spinner so much more pleasant.

[파키텍트] 울산항에 놀이공원 차려봄 | 시나리오 "㈜행복 항구" | Parkitect : HappyCo Harbor - Duration: 13:20.
Today's campaign is "HappyCo Harbor."
The land is small, and the surrounding buildings are all hateful.
Make sure that the structures outside the border are hidden from the customer's sight.
I build a small food court right away.
The map is small, so I'll build it right in front of the entrance.
I'll build it like a factory building in line with the deliveries.
I've saved space by putting the staff room on the second floor.
The balloon could get through the ceiling, so I put it outside.
It's like a factory now since I covered the roof.
I put some pipes on the wall to make it look plausible.
The side of the pier is walled and finished with barbed wire to make it realistic.
It's like a fence in the military base I used to serve.
I'll make a small central square.
I'll put some decorations on the info kiosk to make it stand out.
Yes, It looks better now.
Toilet and first aid room will also be on the side of the square.
Prepare thoroughly the details of the guide signs
I also make some flower beds.
Now let's get down to business - build the first coaster.
This is steel coaster and I have to cross it up because the space is small.
It's going back through a 360 loop and cockscrewes.
It's a waste of free space, so I'll compress it as much as I can.
I'll make the station look like a half-mixed factory and warehouse.
a shiny bling-bling combination of tin walls and tin roof
I don't know what it is, but I'm going to highlight something like a tower.
Finished a station building that feels like a factory warehouse
I'll add a flat ride right away.
It's so bland when I put it on the flat surface, but it's impossible to fix the terrain.
So I put the ride on a single space upper and supports it on the wall.
Let's finish in a blank corner with a decoration.
The dock should have some containers.
I finished it with a little effort, but it looks plausible.
It looks more like a prison entrance than a park.
With such a high ride, I think we should make it look like a tower crane.
It raises columns and builds support like a temporary building.
Too high :-/
But I'm glad we can protect our passengers from the rain.
Let's build the second coaster: a wooden coaster.
We're gonna have to pack it in that little space, too.
Well done.
I'll make it look like a prefabricated factory building to suit the mood.
How did the developer know about the sandwich panel?
Panels + tin pavement + barbed wire = real factory
It's too big for me, but it looks good on me.
It also put a lot of pipes.
Let's fill this narrow space here.
It's a good place to put containers.
I finished it so simple.
Now I'm going to expand the park.
It's a good place to put a second food court.
It is also created by container style, but...
with a little change, it's a "opened" container concept.
It is now the last coaster of today, floorless coaster.
Make it pass as far as possible between the existing coaster.
It's a close call.
This is also a giant open container concept.
The ventilation is going to be great.
The goal of this campaign is to complete 3 coasters with 50+ excitement,
so it will be over if I open this coaster. Let's finish decorating before that.
Place containers in an ambiguous empty space.
We're gonna have to fill this space.
This is Ulsan port in Korea where cars are exported.
Now you know what's going to be in the rest of the space?
Let's Ctrl+CV them using blueprint.
It's much more authentic than the original container prop.
* Do not stack containers sloppily.
Well done. Let's finish.

Rosatom

my screen is cracked and torn
the signal fell off
what the hell can I do?
