Today we're going to talk about
being obsessed with your makeup
Before making your videos. I know this sounds like it might be kind of a weird topic to talk about
but if you are a female entrepreneur or business owner and you are
Trying to put yourself out there and make videos
Then you might find that this is a problem. You might find out that makeup in general is a problem and
That you have to figure out what makeup works
for video because you know
You do have to put a little bit more on and you have to find the balance of when it needs to be touched up
but today I wanted to talk about a
little bit different of an angle on it and
It's more about
Being obsessed with it being obsessed with your makeup. So kind of dwelling on it too long
So you know that you need to make videos
But you find that you're still in front of the mirror touching up your makeup putting more on
Maybe kind of struggling with it. Maybe one eye is not right
maybe you just feel like you didn't do a very good job putting your makeup on and
I feel like these
Things are like an outward reflection of what we're feeling inward
so it's almost like a mindset issue and
You are procrastinating
On making your videos one part of your mind is blaming it on
It's just my makeup my makeups not good enough for me to go on camera or you know
Maybe once I get this eye, right or maybe once I get them both matching or you know, and yes
There's a certain degree
Of having to have your makeup look right, you know
You don't want to have all kinds of blush on one cheek and not enough on the other if you're struggling with putting makeup on
You might want to just hire somebody to do it for you
But this video is not about that. It's not about tips for
Makeup for video. So I'll make another video on that but this is more of
You know the why are you not?
Making the video. Why are you still procrastinating? So I want to just kind of talk about a few of those reasons?
So number one is you are afraid that people might judge you
so maybe
You have something in your message that you're supposed to say that day and maybe it's going against the norm
maybe you just feel like
People are not going to respond to it very well. Maybe you feel like people are gonna lash out at you. And so
You are not making that video you're procrastinating
Maybe you're even messing up on your makeup because you're thinking about that video. And so
It's kind of taking away your confidence
And so instead of just being able to do your makeup and then do that video you kind of get and hung up
All right. Now number two is you are not prepared enough on your subject
so maybe you have this fear that you're going to mess up and
You wish that you had more time to prepare
maybe you feel like you didn't quite have enough research and
Maybe something in you is just like oh just not quite ready to make this video
And of course, I think you should just push through
I mean if you feel like you need to do a little more research then maybe you should just stop doing your makeup and do
The research and get a little more prepared for that video, but the truth is is we're never really fully prepared to do anything
It's kind of like an entrepreneurs battle of like moving forward without being prepared
So I think in this case, you're just gonna have to say okay good enough
Makeups on it's time to dive into that video. I'm going to do it regardless of whether I'm prepared or not
Doing it will make you more prepared. You could always take a first take watch it back and
Most likely you're gonna look at your makeup, but not even think about your makeup. You're going to be listening to your message
And that's as other people watching. They're not thinking about your makeup or your hair. They're just listening to what you have to say
So you can use it as like a dress rehearsal
just
To get you out of that being stuck and then number three is maybe you're afraid
That you don't know exactly what you're doing
so maybe it's a project that you're teaching and
You don't know exactly the steps that you're going to be taking with it
Maybe you have a little bit of fear about that. Maybe you're just kind of like oh, what am I doing this step?
well, you might just want to take that time sit quietly take that time and
figure out those steps figure out what you're going to be doing and
Don't use putting on your makeup as a way to
Try to figure out that problem
Just sit quietly and try to figure out the problem or the next step or what you're doing
maybe you are just going through your whole entire business and
You are thinking wow. I just totally don't know what I'm doing
So maybe maybe it's just a constant thing. So another thing is maybe you are talking about a subject and
you might even be feeling like you are a fraud or somebody might think that you're a fraud or
Maybe you don't exactly
Know what you're talking about. So it's you know
Maybe it's not a physical thing. Maybe it's a real actual like thought that you're thinking like a a
Message is just sharing. That's more like a rough thoughts
And so you just you know again
You're kind of just getting hung up on I don't want to look like a fraud
And so you're getting hung up on not creating that video and then you're just like spending more time
Then you should on your makeup. So in any one of these cases
Really I think what it is is you are trying to move to the next level in your business and
in your messaging and you're just really afraid of what people are going to think and say
So instead you're trying to kind of make up with it
by putting on more makeup putting on a better mass and
Honestly
it can't all be tied to how you look and your mask and
Covering up all your imperfections. I mean, honestly, that is a big one for me
I have a lot of imperfections on my face and body and
I have always tried to cover them
So what can happen is I can procrastinate on making the videos because I want to look perfect. Of course
I want to be perfect, but I know that I can't be perfect. But maybe I can look flawless
So I'm constantly going after you know little imperfections on my face and dabbing on more coverup
And it's just really not going to matter. I mean on video you can't really see all of that. Anyway, if
You're in person. Maybe you see more of it
But even then I would have to get over that because it's more important about what I'm saying
So I'm not at all saying that you shouldn't look good on video. You should put on your makeup
You should be presentable. You should be polished. You should be yourself
You just want to know when to draw the line
So if you can just go to a place and be like, you know, enough is enough. How long have I spent?
Okay
I've spent 30 minutes on doing my makeup
That's enough and then maybe you do touch-ups in between and maybe you always leave something untouched
I mean
you know a couple minutes in between like it just step back and be more like a makeup and hair person and
think about what they would do and they would just touch you up real quick and
Maybe cover up something maybe take the shine off and that's it. They wouldn't ever be
Getting stuck on. Okay. Let's go after more imperfections
they would just do something real quick and be like, okay go, you know, so you want to
Ask yourself if you feel like you're getting stuck. Am I having trouble moving forward and
If so, what is it?
So call out that problem and if it's one of those three, you know
Maybe there's more maybe you have more things that are holding you back
