When Transparency Really Means Tyranny - Duration: 5:23.

When you hear the word "transparency," what comes to mind?

Chances are that you associate the word with a lot of good things, like "openness,"

"honesty," "accountability," and maybe even "integrity."

In a better world, those associations would be accurate.

But in the world of the progressive left, "transparency" means something very different.

And you need to be aware of that meaning or you risk becoming a victim of it.

Everybody – on the left and the right – agrees that transparency in government is a good thing.

With the exception of issues involving national security, the government should be transparent

in its dealings.

The public has a right to know what the government is doing with your tax dollars.

But transparency means something completely different when it comes to the private,

non-government, realm.

Take, for example, where you chose to donate your money.

Transparency in this case means that there is a public record of your donation.

Now, this might sound okay, but it isn't.

Why?

Because it puts you on the radar of your political opponents and makes you a potential target.

Scott Eckern was a theatre director in Sacramento, CA who gave a $1,000 donation to support the

traditional definition of marriage.

Maybe you don't agree with Scott's position.

That's your right.

But the LA Times didn't just disagree, they put every single donation

made by people like Scott online.

Scott Eckern lost his job, and others faced boycotts and blacklisting, all because of

"so called" transparency in an area of life that should be private.

Through most of our nation's history, what happened to Scott Eckern wouldn't have happened:

if you made a political donation, your identity was not exposed.

But under pressure from the left, this is changing.

In New York, for example, it's now the law that if a non-profit organization advocates

against a position taken by an elected official, it must disclose to the government the identities

of all the organization's significant donors.

Faced with this prospect, most people would just as soon avoid the risk altogether.

Safer, in other words, to keep your mouth shut and your checkbook closed.

Even when state officials promise to keep this donor information confidential,

you can't trust them.

In 2015, the California attorney general, Kamala Harris, now a U.S. Senator, demanded

that nonprofits disclose their donor lists to the state, and then her office "accidentally"

posted this private donor information online.

But even if the government kept that information secret, it's none of its business.

Because while transparency is a government obligation, privacy is an individual right.

How do we know?

Because of the First Amendment.

In the 1950s, the state of Alabama tried to force the NAACP, to disclose its membership lists.

This demand came at a time when civil rights activists faced physical threats and economic

reprisals for standing up for basic human rights.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court stepped in and ruled unanimously that the First Amendment

protected their right of freedom of association, and that included protection from prying eyes.

Progressives say we need "transparency" to expose the so-called "dark money" behind

non-profits and political candidates they don't like.

Exactly what those racist bigots said about contributions to the NAACP in the 1950s.

Anonymous speech has been a blessing for this country.

Anonymous pamphleteers helped launch the American Revolution.

Anonymous writers helped ratify the Constitution.

Anonymous activists helped liberate black Americans from the oppression of Jim Crow.

But if we're not careful, anonymity will soon be a thing of the past.

If the message is "you have free speech to address the issues, but only if you don't

care about the consequences," then fewer people will speak freely.

And for those on the left, that's just fine.

In fact, that's the intent.

Here's what David Callahan writes in the left-leaning journal, Inside Philanthropy:

"If the donors can't [take the heat], they can choose not to give."

So, now you're wise to the game.

The next time you hear a politician or an activist talking about "transparency,"

ask a simple question: Who should be transparent?

If he says the government, tell him yes.

If he says you, the private citizen, tell him no.

Your speech is your business.

Meet The Managers #8 | Daniel from South Africa | Top Eleven - Duration: 2:56.

My name is Daniel Manga

and I am the food and beverage supervisor at the Square Boutique Hotel and Spa.

I play Top Eleven wherever I am. So whether I'm in transit or whether I'm at work,

whether I'm at home, or in a restaurant, no exceptions, I'm gonna play.

Football is definitely my passion. I remember falling in love with the game

from the age of six, all because of my father and my uncles and my cousins.

I spend my days researching and studying philosophies, concepts and principles of the game

from when the game originally started.

What's great about Top Eleven is that with its tactical ability, you are able to practice these philosophies

and implement them on your own team.

The algorithms that pay so much attention to player development, player positioning and player movement,

that help me get a much greater idea of what it means to be able to manage players

within your own philosophy of football.

My team is called Titan FC and my stadium is called Stade de Olympus.

I like to style my players and my philosophy of football

based on attributes of strength, of speed and agility.

Throughout the twelve seasons that I've been playing Top Eleven so far,

I've managed to win three League titles, four Champions League titles and two Cup titles.

As a manager I like to sometimes think of myself as a protègè of Josè Mourinho himself.

I'm a bit of a pragmatist always when it comes to matters of football.

I'm very hands on, very controlling and very assertive in my players.

I like to keep possession of the ball whilst focusing on advancing and pushing forward

through the midfield.

So, I always focus on having very strong wingers as well as very adaptable strikers.

My top moment and my biggest accolade in Top Eleven was in my previous season, my eleventh season.

Having scored 115 goals for the club and only having conceded 3,

I think it was a great testament to the strength and the effort that I've put into my style

of defensive play as well as offensive play.

I engage with my colleagues and my friends about Top Eleven and what it's all about,

especially my girlfriend.

I'm working towards getting my coaching certificates and licenses.

Having a chance to coach youngsters in knowledge of the game

and in just how to play the game,

I think it will play an important part in helping develop life skills

and just helping to play a bigger part for the community in general.

As a football manager and as a football lover myself,

there's nothing more exciting than hearing the roar of the fans

and the passing, the aggression, the tackles.

And I think Top Eleven really does try to make it more realistic

in giving it that 3D sound like you are really there.

What keeps me playing Top Eleven is that it honestly gives me the sense

of what it means to be a real manager.

2017 World Cup #1 Prague ⎜ VLOG 16 - Duration: 3:02.

Hi guys! The 2017 World Cup Series has kicked off this weekend.

These are absolutely my favorite races, because we're traveling and competing on a different place each weekend.

The first World Cup race of the season takes place here in Prague.

We know this course pretty well, because we're racing here almost every year.

Yesterday was the qualification day.

It was my best run in this season so far, I felt very good on the water and finished 2nd.

Anyway, much more important will be the semifinal and final race on Sunday.

It's 8 in the morning and we have just arrived to the course.

It looks like it's gonna be a great day with no wind.

I'm going to do the warm up on the flatwater and 10:08 is the time of my semifinal run.

The course was much harder today, especially at the bottom.

I did one touch in my semifinal run, but the time was pretty solid.

I finished 4th and easily qualified for the finals.

I'm gonna take some rest now. I have 2 hours break.

45 mins to start.

I'm going to check the high of the poles.

In the finals I felt pretty good again.

I had a solid start and one of the fastest split times until gate 15.

Then I missed one stroke and everything was over.

I could get into that gate.

Well, this is what our sport is also about.

I finished 9th. Anyway I felt very good during the whole weekend.

The Series is still in the beginning and I'm already looking forward to the next race in Augsburg, Germany.
