- Technology has come a long way in our lifetimes,
but the trend that's really turning heads
is wearable technology.
These advancements look cool,
and are of course fun to use,
but they're actually making our lives much better
in many ways you probably didn't know.
So, with the help of my friends at Ford
who are sponsoring this video,
I'm going to explain just what those improvements are.
Here are five ways wearable technology has improved lives.
Number one is fitness watches and sensors.
One of the biggest surges in the advancement
in wearable tech that we've seen lately
is in the area of fitness and health.
With watches and sensors to detect and track
various stats about our bodies and accomplishments,
it's become easier than ever
to see not only how our limits are expanding,
but how your body is adjusting
to the new feats as well.
These things record how far you've traveled,
how fast you've moved,
your heart rate during, before, and after the activity,
the total number of steps that you took,
and even show how many calories you've burned.
Many of them even use built-in GPS
to map out where you went while walking, jogging, or biking,
to make your achievement even easier to perceive.
These devices and apps not only monitor you
while you're working out, but while you're resting too,
with many of them monitoring your body while you're asleep.
A good night's sleep is essential
to becoming a healthier you and these things
will show you if you're really getting the rest you require.
Number two is driving assistance watches and vehicles.
In addition to basically being communicators
straight out of sci-fi,
smart watches have the ability
to link up with your phone, your computer,
and yes, even your car.
They've come a long way from just being able to tell time.
Today, companies such as Ford are further improving
the impressive number of features that smart watches offer.
If you drive a Ford battery electric
or plug-in hybrid vehicle,
you can check batter charge level,
determine driving range before your trip,
and locate where your vehicle is parked,
among many other offerings, all from your wrist.
But that's not all.
Some of these smart watch features
could even save your life.
Safety features are being developed
that could help bridge the gap between wearable tech
and driver assist technology in vehicles.
For instance, let's think about Ford's
lane keep assist feature.
Imagine if your watch could detect
you didn't get enough sleep last night,
and your vehicle got the message.
It's then extra tuned in
to keep you from drifting across lines in the road.
Or, if a driver's heart rate increases
as traffic intensifies, Ford's technology,
such as adaptive cruise control,
or blind spot information system,
would kick in and increase the distance between vehicles.
Additional research is being done into apps
that can lock the doors of your car,
start the engine, and even locate your vehicle via GPS.
And all by only speaking into your wrist,
like you're some sort of secret agent.
Number three is communication headwear.
It's fairly common knowledge by now
that you can operate a smartphone
using a Bluetooth headset, or even a smart watch.
But what you may not know is that wearable technology
is breaking down communication obstacles.
Let's start with the language barrier.
If you need to communicate with someone
who doesn't speak the same language as you,
it can be extremely difficult.
Luckily, the future of communication looks bright,
with the introduction of real-time audible translators,
tiny devices which look like hearing aids,
but actually translate whatever's being spoken
into a language of your choice.
Even optical displays can help bridge this gap
with a number of translating apps converting
almost any text that the wearer looks at
into completely readable words in their chosen language.
This will make not only talking to someone
while in a foreign country easier,
but enjoying meals as well,
with a confusing menu suddenly becoming
much simpler to read.
Number four is comfort-smart clothing.
What could be more deserving of being
in the wearable technology category
than clothing you can wear that is literally technology?
Smart clothing is becoming more and more common today,
helping to protect the wearer from the elements themselves,
and even from buying the wrong sized clothing.
That's right, there are actually smart pants
and smart tops that you can put on
in order to accurately measure your dimensions.
That will definitely reduce the number of items we return.
Alternatively, if buying clothes is easy,
then why not improve your posture
by getting some clothing with built-in sensors
that will link up with your computer or smartphone
and tell you how to stand, sit, sleep, or walk?
What better way to reduce back pain
than by assessing why the pain is there in the first place,
and then correcting that issue by changing
how you go about your days and nights?
There are even smart clothes
that can quickly heat themselves
when your body temperature drops.
Number five is saving lives, various devices.
If preventing car accidents wasn't enough
of a life-saving feature of wearable technology,
a number of devices and applications
are saving even more lives.
Imagine a medical ID bracelet that not only reveals
that a person has seizures on occasion,
but actually notifies the members of their family
when they do, going as far as to show
where the loved one is through GPS.
If you have a family member who is older
or prone to accidents, there are devices
that can detect a fall or other accident
and notify family members through an app immediately.
Plus, while heart monitors have been around for a while now,
medical advancements with wearable devices
means more efficient monitoring of a number of conditions
including diagnostics of patients while they're sleeping
or just going about their day.
Detecting conditions such as breast cancer
is already a feature on the market as well,
with more ailments being noticeable
by technology all the time.
What better way can wearable tech
improve lives than by saving them?
Thanks again to Ford for helping me with this video
and thanks to you guys for coming by today.
Remember to come by every weekday
at exactly 3 pm Eastern Standard Time
because I'll have a brand new video for you.
I'll see you then.

WILD KRATTS | There's a Gila Monster Here! | PBS KIDS - Duration: 2:34.
Okay, a gila monster is nobody to be scared of.
For starters, a gila monster spends 95% of his life
just resting in the entrance of a burrow.
And you are just about the luckiest kid
in the Sonoran Desert
because this gila monster has chosen your porch as his burrow.
I don't want a gila monster under my porch.
Uh, okay. How about this?
Gila monsters are one of the few venomous species of lizards
in the world with a poisonous bite
but their venomous bite is a defensive bite.
Gila monsters just like to hang out and be left alone.
Nah.
I'm telling you, Javier, gila monsters are so cool.
I don't want a gila monster under my porch.
Oh, this is going to be a tough nut to crack.
I know.
He is a big lizard.
And to a little kid like Javier, he must look scary.
But if we were littler than him...
And we weren't scared...
Then maybe he wouldn't be scared either.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking, bro?
I think so.
The Miniaturizer?!
You got it, buddy!
And we're going to get mini-sized.
And go under your porch and prove to you
that humans don't need to be afraid of gila monsters.
All right, let's go visit a gila monster.
JAVIER: Be careful.
You said he's got a venomous bite.
He doesn't want to bite anyone.
He just wants to be left alone and asleep in his burrow.
Wow, look at that color.
Most gila monsters are orangey-peach and black,
swirled together into really cool patterns.
And that color is a bright warning
letting other animals know
that this gila monster has a toxic bite
so they don't mess with him.
Uh-oh.
BOTH: A bobcat!
The gila monster's sleeping!
A wild cat can take advantage of that.
Wake up! Wake up!
(Hissing)
Whoa, gila monster held him off.
Cool!
MARTIN: The gila monster is a creature who makes peach a tough color.
Ewww, what kind of monster is peach color?

Sana: Hi. There is something I have to tell
Sana: Hi. What are you guys doing today? Can we meet up?
Chris: I'm hungover af. - Vilde: Me and Magnus are talking. - Noora: How are you guys doing Vilde? - Vilde: He thinks I've cheated on him with Elias.
- Eva: Vilde. We're gonna kill those that made the hate account. Sana: I'm also hungover af and dad is here from Bergen to celebrate my 18th birthday. Yay!
Eva: Minus Yay. Plus fml.
Chris: Eva!! Mom said yes to us celebrating your 18th birthday at our place on Friday!! - Eva: SHE DID??? Fucking hell!!!
Chris: She asked why you couldn't have it at your place, and I just... uh they're redecorating. Since the last party.
Eva: Hahaha!! How cool!! Who are we gonna invite?
(Elias watches Youtube. Probably a Hei Briskeby video.)
- Hi.
- Are you talking to me?
- Sorry that I've been grumpy.
- So you're not grumpy anymore?
That's good. Thought you were gonna be grumpy for the rest of your life.
- Why aren't you guys friends with Even anymore?
- They guy doesn't want to be with us anymore.
So we can't force him.
- So it's not because he tried to kiss Mikael?
Cause I got to hear that Mikael freaked out.
- That's not why. It's...
A lot... happened.
Like, the guy started doing a lot of random things. And he tried to kiss Mikael, among other things.
We tried to make him chill down. But it didn't work.
He began to drop out of school.
And then he talked to Sonja. She told me he was depressed.
And when she said that, we tried to call and text him often, but...
I don't know.
So if he doesn't want to hang with us then,
it's his decision.
- You know he's dating Isak?
I think he misses you guys.
Because he asked about you guys the other day.
- He did?
You can send him my regards then.
Wait!
- You know Yousef?
- Just forget about it.
I'm over him.

Political Analyst Offers Latest Insight On Trump Administration - Duration: 4:20.
IF THIS WILL END GRIFFIN'S
CAREER. WELL, THERE'S A LOT
GOING ON IN WASHINGTON FROM
THE PRESIDENT PULLING THE U.S.
OUT OF THE PARIS CLIMATE
CHANGE ACCORD TO THE UP COMING
CONGRESSIONAL HEARING WITH
FIRED FBI DIRECTOR JAMES
COMEY.
COLLEGE PROFESSOR CAROLINE
JOINS US NOW TO KEEP US ALL UP
TO DATE ON WHAT IS HAPPENING
BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH.
EVERY WEEK.
AMY: YES.
SO WE'RE GOING TO START OFF
WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP PULLING
THE U.S. OUT OF
AGREEMENT.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IT REALLY
MEANS FOR THE COUNTRY MOVING
FORWARD?
WELL, I THINK THERE ARE
NUMBERS THAT ARE IMPORTANT
HERE.
THE FIRST IS THAT 97% OF
CLIMATE SCIENTISTS BELIEVE
THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS
HAPPENING AND THAT IT'S HUMAN
MADE.
AMY: UH-HUH.
AND THE SECOND IS THAT 71%
OF AMERICANS ACCORDING TO A
RECENT POLL DID NOT WANT TO
PULL OUT OF THIS.
AMY: UH-HUH.
SO THIS IS A SYMBOLIC
GESTURE TO THE REST OF THE
WORLD THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO
TAKE CLIMATE CHANGE
SERIOUSLY.
AND, IN FACT, IN THE LAST
COUPLE OF DAYS,
REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE WHITE
HOUSE HAVE REFUSED TO SAY
WHETHER OR NOT THEY BELIEVE
CLIMATE CHANGE IS HUMAN MADE.
SO I THINK WHAT WE SEE IS A
POLITICAL DECISION BEING MADE,
WHICH SENDS THE SIGNAL TO THE
REST OF THE WORLD.
WHICH DOESN'T REALLY HAVE A
HUGE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY
BECAUSE IT TAKES THREE YEARS
TO WITHDRAWAL.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, IT WAS
MORE IMMOBILIZING IN THE FIRST
PLACE IN THAT THIS WASN'T A
BINDING AGREEMENT.
SO I THINK IT WILL NOT HAVE
IMMEDIATE REPERCUSSIONS, BUT
IT WILL PROBABLY MEAN THAT WE
WON'T BE INVESTING IN CLEAN
ENERGY, AND THAT'S IMPORTANT
BECAUSE IT IS GROWING.
CLEAN ENERGY IS GROWING AT 12
TIMES THE SIZE OF THE ECONOMY
GROWTH; RIGHT? SO IF YOU WANT
TO CREATE JOBS, YOU LOOK AT
SOLAR AND WIND.
ALL AROUND, THIS IS NOT A
POPULAR DECISION BUT ONE THAT
TRUMP SUPPORTERS LIKELY REALLY
EMBRACE BECAUSE HE PROMISES
DURING THE ELECTION.
AMY: WHAT ABOUT JIM COMEY?
HE'S SET TO TESTIFY BEFORE THE
SENATE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE
ON THURSDAY ABOUT RUSSIAN
INTERFERENCE AND THE
ELECTION.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IT'S GOING
TO MEAN FOR THE TRUMP
ADMINISTRATION THAT HE'S NOW
TESTIFYING AND WHAT HE COULD
REVEAL?
WELL, THIS IS THE DAY THAT
TRUMP DID NOT WANT.
IN FACT, HIS WHITE HOUSE HAS
BEEN SCRAMBLING TO USE
EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE TO SHUT
THIS DOWN.
I THINK THAT DESCRIBED IT
WOULD NOT BE AN EFFECTIVE
TECHNIQUE.
COMEY IS LIKELY TO BE BEFORE
THE SENATE COMMITTEE AND
REAFFIRMED WHAT HE ALREADY
SAID IN HIS MEMOS, WHICH IS
THAT THE PRESIDENT ASKED HIM
TO STOP INVESTIGATING MICHAEL
FLYNN.
IF THAT IS TRUE, THAT COULD BE
A POSSIBLE OBSTRUCTION OF
JUSTICE CHARGE, WHICH WOULD
LEAD US INTO UNKNOWN TERRITORY
BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW IF THE
PRESIDENT IS ABOVE THE LAW OR
WHETHER OR NOT WE CAN
PROSECUTE A PRESIDENT.
CERTAINLY THERE'S IMPEACHMENT
AND 43% OF AMERICANS NOW
SUPPORT IMPEACHMENT, WHICH IS
AN INCREDIBLE NUMBER; RIGHT?
FOUR AND TEN AMERICANS
SUPPORTING IMPEACHMENT
PROCEEDINGS TO BEGIN, AND THAT
WOULD BE A LONG TRIAL IF IT
WERE TO HAPPEN IN THE HOUSE
AND THE SENATE.
UNLIKELY TO HAPPEN BECAUSE
BOTH ARE CONTROLLED BY
REPUBLICANS.
AMY: AND EVEN MORE TROUBLE,
YOU KNOW, NEWS CAME OUT THIS
WEEK THAT HIS ADVISER AND
SON-IN-LAW JARED KUSHNER
ATTEMPTED TO SET UP BACK
CHANNELS WITH THE RUSSIANS.
HOW SIGNIFICANT IS THIS IN THE
ON GOING RUSSIA
INVESTIGATION?
I THINK IT'S SYMBOLIC
SIGNIFICANT ONCE AGAIN BECAUSE
THERE ARE NOW SO MANY LINKS
AND JARED KUSHNER IS A PERSON
OF INTEREST IN ADDITION TO
OTHER FOLKS.
PAUL MANAFORT, MICHAEL FLYNN,
MICHAEL COHEN, THE PRESIDENT'S
ATTORNEY.
WITH THAT SAID, THIS WAS NOT
ILLEGAL.
BUT IT WAS UNUSUAL, AND IT WAS
SUSPICIOUS, GIVEN THE BROADER
CONTEXT.
AMY: AND THIS WEEK, TRUMP WHO
IS KNOWN FOR TWEETING, HE USED
A WORD IN A LATE NIGHT TWEET
COVFEFE, WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE
AREN'T SURE HOW WE SAY IT,
WHAT IT REALLY MEANS.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS?
I -- YES, I'M ONE OF THE
FEW PEOPLE THAT SEAN SPICER
WAS REFERRING TO.
I DID MY RESEARCH.
I THINK IT'S COV, AND FEFE,
THAT'S
THE POPULAR SITE 4
THINK HE WAS REFERRING TO A
SCORPION WITCH.
AMY: MOST OF US THOUGHT IT WAS
A TYPO WONDERING WHAT WAS
GOING ON.
YES. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN
NICE FOR SEAN SPICER JUST TO
COME OUT AND SAY, HEY, THE
PRESIDENT MADE A MCOF.
WHY DIDN'T HE JUST DO THIS AND
MAKE A JOKE?
SPEAKING OF CRISIS MANAGEMENT,
THIS WAS HIS MOMENT TO APPEAR
HUMAN; RIGHT? BUT,
UNFORTUNATELY, HE COULDN'T
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE HAD MADE A
MISTAKE THAT ALL OF US HAD
MADE ON VARIOUS POINTS ON
TWITTER.
AMY: YOU'RE GOING SO FAST,
IT'S EASY TO MISS A KEY.

Procurement Israeli Tavor Gun by Indian Army has shocked our enemies - Duration: 3:24.
The world famous TAR-21 Tavor assault rifles; Galil sniper rifles and Negev light machine
guns manufactured by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) will soon be made in India under a new
joint venture.
The JV between IWI and Punj Lloyd Ltd, a firm based in India with ambitions of becoming
a supplier of choice of the Indian Armed Forces, is named PunjLloyd Raksha Systems (PRS).
It will see the manufacture of a wide range of IWI small arms at a new plant in central
India built with the help of IWI.
The production of small arms will begin this year.
Tavor is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle chambered for 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition with
as elective fire system, selecting between semi-automatic mode and full automatic fire
mode.
Built around a long-stroke piston system, the Tavor was designed to maximise reliability,
durability, and ease-of-maintenance, particularly under adverse or battlefield conditions.
Due to the dynamic changes in the modern battlefield, the threats of global terrorism and the demands
of ever-changing combat situations, there was a need for a new versatile, innovative
and technologically advanced weapon.
The TAVOR assault rifle was especially created to answer these varied demands, thus distinguishing
itself as the ultimate weapon of the 21st century.
The TAVOR was developed in close cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The Tavor is today in service in the IDF infantry troops as well as in the forces of other countries
throughout the world.
The rifle family has an excellent performance record in the battlefield with its attributes
of high precision, reliability and human ergonomics being its leading characteristics.
Licensed manufacture of foreign designs, usually involving Russian weapons, has been going
on since the 1960s.
But the Indian made items were always seen, by Russian and Indian users, as inferior.
What made PLR unique was that it is the first Indian manufacturer of military small arms
that is expected to be capable of producing the foreign designs well enough to be exported.
This sort of thing has already been demonstrated with non-military products and the Israelis
believe it is possible to do it with military items as well.
The Indian small arms market alone is worth $5 billion a year and the export market for
Israeli quality weapons is potentially even larger.
Initially PLR will manufacture the Israeli Tavor assault rifle as well as sniper rifles
and light machine-guns and is already considered a front runner for several major Indian Army
contracts.

The Most Mind Blowing Sinking The RMS Titanic - History of The World [TheScreeNFactS] - Duration: 4:50.
Hi, Welcome to another the Screen Facts Video
In this video we are talk about
The Most Mind Blowing Sinking the RMS Titanic
History of The World
The luxury steamship RMS Titanic
sank in the front hours of April 15, 1912
off the coast of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic
after sideswiping an iceberg during its maiden voyage
Of the 2,240 passengers and crew vis--vis
speaking board, on peak of 1,500 aimless
their lives in the grief-stricken. Titanic has inspired
countless books, articles and films
and her fable has entered the public consciousness
as a cautionary fable not quite the perils
of human hubris. Before If you're new

THE BUILDING OF THE RMS TITANIC
The Royal Mail Steamer Titanic
was the product of intense competition
in the midst of opponent shipping lines
in the first half of the 20th century
In particular, the White Star Line found itself
in a scuffle for steamship primacy considering
Cunard, a venerable British unadulterated
subsequent to two standout ships
that ranked together plus the most
sophisticated and luxurious of their become dated
Cunard's Mauretania began benefits in 1907
and rapidly set a readiness baby book
for the fastest average eagerness during
a transatlantic crossing (23.69 knots or 27.26 mph)
a title that it held for 22 years
Cunard's totaling masterpiece, Lusitania
launched the related year and
was lauded for its spectacular interiors
Lusitania met its tragic cease upon May
7, 1915, taking into account than a
torpedo blazing by a German U-ship
sunk the boat, killing a propos 1,200
of the 1,959 people upon board
and precipitating the United States
dealings into World War I
Passengers traveling first class concerning
Titanic were not in the estrange afield
off from 44 percent more likely
to survive than adding together passengers
The same year that Cunard unveiled
its two magnificent liners
J. Bruce Is may, chief government of White Star
discussed the construction of three large ships
when William J. Pirrie, chairman of the
shipbuilding company Harland and Wolff
Part of a choice Olympic class of liners
each ship would doing 882 feet in length
and 92.5 feet at their broadest narrowing
making them the largest of their times
In March 1909, do something began
in the serious Harlan and Wolff
shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, regarding the second
of these three ocean liners, Titanic, and
continued nonstop for two years
On May 31, 1911, Titanic's big hull the largest
variable manmade mean in the world
at the times made its way the length
of the slipways and into the River Lagan
Lagan in Belfast. More than 100,000 people
attended the launching, which took just
on summit of a minute and went
off without a hitch
UNSINKABLE' TITANIC'S FATAL FLAWS
According to some hypotheses, large
was doomed from the beginning by a style
that a lot of lauded as progressive
The Olympic-class ships featured a double bottom
and fifteen watertight divider compartments
equipped with electrical watertight
doors that might be operated separately
or at the same time by a put on the bridge
It was these watertight bulkheads
that impressed Shipbuilder magazine
in a very special issue dedicated to the Olympic liners
to regard them "practically unsinkable
But the watertight compartment style
contained a flaw that was a essential
think about Titanic's sinking: whereas the individual
bulkheads were so watertight, the walls
separating the bulkheads extended solely
a couple of feet higher than the water line
thus water may pour from one compartment
into another, particularly if the ship
began to list or pitch forward

Magnolia seeds have germinated - Duration: 2:19.
Hi I'm George, Germinated Magnolia seeds received from Lyn in Ireland
Hi Lyn :) and the seeds I planted in April
And then I made a video when I planted them
After that they began to germinate, not all
Because the magnolia seeds germinate very hard and
And I'm happy to have germinated some seeds, about 7-8
Kind of like, and I've stratified them for at least 3 months
And I want to show you the results
You can subscribe to Lyn's channel is up there
Here's how the magnolias from the seeds look
They grew very beautiful, these two are very beautiful
And another leaf grows, it's really cool
If Lyn would see this video She will be very happy
That she sent me the seeds of her Magnolia tree
She has a great magnolia tree
And she sent me and it is very interesting to grow magnolia from Ireland
And there are some 10 seeds germinated
At first I said that 8 are germinated, but there are actually 10 if we count
Here three, here three, six already
Seven, eight, nine
And here another one germinated
Not long ago
There are many free places, they probably will germinate a few
So we'll see until then, but it's really cool
I'm happy, I did not think they would germinate
That they are quite difficult to germinate
And that's it
We will see how they grow, but I like these two, very gorgeous
Afterward, all will be like that two
And this, and this
I hope the magnolia grows nicely
We will see further, thank you for watching
leave a like, distribute this video And subscribe to my channel
Bye :)

Adjusting Your Subwoofer Gain For More Dynamics, Kick, and Oomph! (use subtitles if it's too quiet) - Duration: 10:07.
okay guys today I want to do a video on subwoofer gain and this may seem like
kind of a simple video but actually I've learned a lot about the gain
issue and how it reacts in different subs, so this will be
kind of specific to the SVS products, but I think it will carry over depending
on how flat your subs response is and all that kinda stuff
but anyway I guess I'll point this more towards SVS products but again how much
this will translate depends on your particular setup, but one of the
things I want to talk about is where you set this dial at, okay? Now I
did a video about apartments and how if you run your gain a little bit lower and you turn the AVR gain up on
your amplifier for the subs you know, you'll get a little less bleed over
in the next room and stuff like that and basically you're limiting the
amplifier and so that's good for people that want to run a little less you know
they want to be a little more considerate for the neighbors. Now you don't want to do
this too much because if you crank the AVR, like you know, at a positive eight
and then you turn this way down you can get some amplifier clipping and stuff
like that. So generally in my opinion you want to keep your AVR subwoofer trim at
0.0 or lower. Now the trick, at least in my experience, I don't know how
many of you guys can tell me different, but what I found is that the higher you
run the gain, okay so you turn it up, and then the lower you run the AVR trim to
compensate to get it back to the same balance, the more dynamics you get out of
your subs and so it's... the bass hits stronger it's more powerful you're
giving the amplifier more room to work I guess
is one way to look at it. And so you know for me at the time right now you can see
I've got the PB-16 over there, and again this kind of this varies because you
know the the PB-16 Ultra has a range goes from -60 to 0 and so
it's a different scale than this. Like on the PB-2000 you know
I've run at about 60 to 65 % gain where is on this it's -13, so
it's kind of a different scale. But anyway... by the way, having this remote for
the PB-16 Ultra, it's kind of cool and one of the reasons it's cool is because
you point to this sub that'll turn this sub up, you point to that sub turn that set
up, so it's kind of directional it seems like it has a narrow beam. I don't know
if that's a happy accident or what, but it allows me...you can see...
I can just change the sub going up and down. So I've been able to
really experiment with this whole idea, and indeed the higher I run the gain
on the subs, the more powerful the bass is overall. If I run it down
lower, the bass is softer. It's... you can still have it balanced, but it's just a
matter of how how hard that impact is when you have an explosion or something
like that. So...and one of the drawbacks to running your sub gain higher and your
AVR lower is that you can have a problem with triggering, and that's when your sub
is auto on or auto off. If you... like right now I have my amplifier (subwoofer trim) at
-10.0, so it's really Rocking! So you know, that means that less
signal is going to the subwoofer to actually trigger it to turn on. Now I
haven't had an issue with the SVS subs they're trigger on is pretty good and
pretty sensitive, so it hasn't been an issue for me. But this is where I talk
about other subs where you may not have the same good response when it comes to
running the AVR (Subwoofer) trim lower and your subwoofer gain
higher, it may cause triggering issues with your subs Auto on feature so you
may have your subs turning off in the middle of a movie or something.
And that can happen if you have a real quiet movie anyway,
but you know it can happen more with running your gain higher on the sub and
AVR (subwoofer) trim lower on the amplifier. So I just want to kind of give you guys my
perspective on and how I see it. Because when I crank up, you know, the
subwoofer gain and turn it down on the AVR, you know... get it balanced to the
same level. Because I don't listen to it you know... the PB-16 Ultras are
not... I don't listen to it that much louder than before, it's just the bass is
stronger when it comes at you, it hits you harder you feel it more in your body as
opposed to the PB-2000's.
I'll go more into that when I do the full review of the PB-16 Ultra. But anyway,
you know, having that remote and everything has really allowed me to mess
around a lot easier. Because... you know there's another thing I should talk
about is, when you're setting your gain, is that you want to have, particularly
when you're running duals, you're going to want to have, you know, your volumes
probably going to be different on this sub, compared to that one. So on this sub
I run -13 at the moment, and on the sub over there it's -16.
I think that has something to do with corner loading. It seems to
put out more, like it's folding the bass wave... anyway. So, you have two level match.
So, for me to go in behind these subs every time, and turn it up turn down
without having it really matched was kind of the pain. So I did it a couple
times and I was able to really kind of figure it out. But having it to where I
could, you know, do it from my chair and make all the adjustments very quickly
it really kind of sealed the deal for me as far as the whole gain issue. And so...
that part has helped, you know having the remote has really helped, and as far as
figuring that out. But really if you're looking for more oomph out of your subs
and you're only running your subwoofer trim at, say -3...
you can try giving your subs a little more gain and taking it down on the AVR. Now
of course there are caveats here. If your subs start complaining because they're
putting out too much power and they're starting to make bad noises, well then
you need to back it down. If you just turn your gain up
and don't compensate for the AVR subwoofer trim, then it's just going to
be way too much bass. So it's not going to be as good that way. So, you know, with
each adjustment you've got to dial it back in. You know, I like listening to
like Norah Jones and stuff like that to get to the bass dialed in to the right
level. So that helps me. By the way, something I found recently is
Metallica's "Lords of Summer" I've been using that a lot more to get the subs
dialed in. I don't know, I really like the way it kicks, and for me when I
have it adjusted right, it provides plenty of kick, but it's not too much... I
don't know, for some reason that song has a really balanced, in such a
way that it allows me to make the adjustments a lot easier and a lot
quicker. So maybe I should go into a video about how I do that too? But anyway
I just wanted to that quick video on adjusting the subwoofer gain. I'm curious
what you guys think. You know particular people that are playing different subs I
know that if you've got a sub that doesn't have a great amplifier, you
might be pushing it to that extreme but I don't know I'm curious what you guys
think and what your experience is. If you turn up the gain on the sub and turn down the AVR
trim, do you get more dynamics? I sure did.
And I actually measured it. I stuck a microphone in the garage and by
turning down the the gain and turning up the AVR trim, I
got less bleed over into the garage. So that's where I came up the whole thing
as far as the apartment video goes. But going the opposite direction for people
that want more, which is a lot more fun, you know cranking up the gain. Now
another thing too, if you're using something like a mini DSP 2x4 to get
your subs dialed in... that tends to take out some of the gain, and so you have to
run your gain higher on your subs to get the same amount output. Because the way
,as I understand it, a 2X4 (MiniDsp 2x4) works it basically works by shaving off
response rather than adding to it I mean it does out a little to it if you do
that but generally it's going to take some of the signal away so you have to
run your gain a bit higher and what I found is when I tried it on these is I
had to run the game almost as public 75% from what I recall yeah it was about
about there so that's what I had to run on to get the same amount of output in
the same balance when running the 2x4 so again there's all these caveats to go
with all this but from my experience at least with the subs I've been working
with the higher you run the gain on the subwoofer itself the more dynamics you
get out of it so curious what you guys think let me know and please subscribe
