Youtube daily report Jun 4 2018

Smallpox was a terrible disease.

It was often fatal, and even if you survived, you were left with scars where the painful

blisters used to be.

But thanks to an aggressive eradication campaign, it became the first human disease we totally

wiped out, save a few deadly samples kept in labs around the world.

So far, it remains the only one we've gotten rid of entirely, but we're getting close

on a few more, like polio.

And to do that, doctors have had to get creative, and come up with different strategies tailored

to each disease.

Many diseases that are on the edge of elimination are there thanks to the same kind of preventative

measures that knocked out smallpox: vaccines.

But the smallpox vaccine wasn't ideal because it involved getting people actually sick with

a different but related virus to protect them.

Most modern vaccines are different, and that's in part thanks to the creativity that led

to the vaccine for the bacterial infection diphtheria.

Globally, we've gone from hundreds of thousands of cases of diphtheria per year to less than

7,000 in 2016.

Which is really awesome, because this thing is pretty nasty.

The diphtheria bacteria produces a toxin which can break down tissues in the lungs and throat,

forming a slimy grey mess called a pseudomembrane.

People—usually kids—were often suffocated because of it, which is why the disease became

known as 'the strangling angel'.

But in the late 19th century, researchers took the toxin and injected it into healthy

animals, using their immune systems to create toxin-neutralizing antibodies, which could

then be injected into someone with the infection to combat it.

This serum therapy proved to be pretty effective, and by 1895 companies were cranking out the

antitoxin in bulk.

But this method was still a treatment, not a way to prevent new cases.

So scientists attempted something pretty revolutionary.

Since they could create anti-toxins, they knew that the bacterial toxin could stimulate

the immune system enough that a person could theoretically create their own anti-toxins—if

they survived the dose.

So they tried to find a way to inactivate the toxic effects while still retaining the

toxin's immune-stimulating abilities.

And after getting the perfect mixture of formaldehyde, toxin, and heat, they did it!

This deactivated toxin became known as a toxoid, and it's the concept behind many vaccines

today.

And that includes the modern version of the diphtheria vaccine.

Unfortunately a few countries still lack affordable access to it.

So while we've made lots of progress, we can't say exactly when we'll reach true

eradication.

For a disease to be completely eradicated, there have to be literally zero cases of it

in the entire world.

And while smallpox is the only one to earn that title so far, arguably the next closest

contender is dracunculiasis or Guinea worm disease.

It's caused by a parasitic worm that grows inside a human host—and by grows, I mean

an adult female can be about a meter long.

INSIDE YOU.

And back in 1986, about three and a half million people were infected with these worms.

But that number dropped to only 30 cases in 2017.

Some of the last endemic countries like South Sudan are aiming to be completely guinea worm

free by 2020.

And that's largely thanks to education efforts which teach people how to protect themselves.

The disease gets started when the worm larvae and the tiny water fleas they develop in are

ingested, usually through drinking water from still, stagnant ponds.

The young worms bust out of the stomach, find one another, and mate.

Then the male dies while the female grows under the skin for 10-14 months before she

very slowly starts to push towards the surface.

As she does, the person usually develops a fever and painful swelling at the site of

her eventual emergence.

And while it's not quite a scene from Alien, the blister she creates as she works to break

out is painful enough that people often try to soothe their wound in water—which is

the exact worst thing they could do.

The worm takes the opportunity to release her larvae into the water source, which starts

the cycle over again.

Usually these wounds occur on the legs or feet, so it can be tough to get around while

they heal.

And if that's not bad enough, they're also prone to secondary infections, so people

can be incapacitated for months if they don't have access to good medical care.

The bad news is there's no medication to kill the worms once they're in you.

Most commonly, people wait until one starts to poke out, then grab it and twist it slowly

around a stick a centimeter at a time over weeks to eventually yank the thing out.

So instead, the focus has been on educating communities how to best prevent infection

and helping them get and maintain access to clean water.

Surprisingly simple steps like filtering drinking water and keeping people with infections away

from waters people use have gotten us to the point where the guinea worm is nearing extinction.

We've also gotten a lot closer to getting rid of the worms behind lymphatic filariasis—but

with these worms, medication is the answer.

In 2000, about 120 million people had the disease, which is a lot.

But between 2000 and 2016, nearly seven billion treatments were given out, which have likely

prevented or cured almost 100 million cases.

About 500 million people who were once at risk aren't anymore because more than 40

countries have made serious headway towards elimination.

And a new treatment plan received the World Health Organization's stamp of approval

in late 2017, which hopefully will help doctors stay on track to eradicate lymphatic filariasis

as a public health problem by 2020.

The disease gets its name from the filarial worms which cause it—little roundworms that

clog the body's lymphatic vessels.

These vessels are big players in the balance and distribution of bodily fluids.

So when these worms gum up the pipes, they can cause elephantiasis, severe swelling and

hardening of the limbs and genitals.

An adult female worm is only about 55 millimeters long, but that's big enough to cause blockage,

and they can live for anywhere from 4 to 6 years inside you.

But eradication of lymphatic filariasis really doesn't have anything to do with destroying

the adult worms.

Instead, doctors go after the babies.

Antifilarials like ivermectin literally paralyze the larvae and keep them from growing up and

making more baby worms.

These larvae get inside people through mosquito bites.

So combine larvae-killing drugs with anti-mosquito efforts like nets and you can stop the disease

in its tracks.

At least, that's the plan.

There's still plenty of work to do before these and other diseases are totally gone.

But thanks to the creative efforts of scientists and doctors throughout the years, we're

a little bit closer to thinking of them like smallpox — things of the past.

Do You Want to Hear Jesus Clearly? - Duration: 10:40.

Do You Want to Hear Jesus Clearly?

June 4, 2018

Thank you, Lord, for opening our eyes to the things that stand in the way of closeness

to You.

Please grant us the grace to want You with all our hearts and souls, even enough to set

our desires aside to have only You.

Amen.

Dear ones, if Jesus isn't speaking clearly to you, or you feel far away from Him, I highly

recommend that you do an assessment of your obedience to His known—or, I would even

say 'suspected' will.

For instance those little prompts…

"Don't buy that, don't eat that, help her, call them now, pray for them, be honest,

don't take any shortcuts or breaks.

etc., etc."

What I mean are those little corrections you get throughout the day that go against your

preferences or will.

If we are serious about serving Him, it comes with a cost: the cost of everything you like

and everything you don't like.

We cannot afford to have any preferences or attachments.

For instance, in this most recent correction of direction the Lord gave me, He wanted me

to answer correspondence.

Even though the Internet was down, I found a work-around and worked with the Comments—because

that is so much easier than writing letters—right?.

But at the end of the night, I didn't feel the Lord's pleasure with me.

In fact, I felt Him standing a-ways off.

So, when I awoke this morning, I sought Him on why I was feeling distant… and He brought

up that 10" stack of mail in my inbox.

And I have had to make a bigger box to fit it all in there...

So, I knew immediately that I had let Him down by not plowing into that pile.

Especially because the Internet was down—it seemed most logical to work on letters...right?!

But I find a work-around and get to Comments...

Well.

But going through that pile was much more work than answering Comments.

And very daunting to look at, I might add.

So, I moved towards the easier way—my own preferences—and I did not make Him happy.

You see, the Lord is very clear about who He will show Himself to:

John 14:21 Whoever has My commandments and observes them is the one who loves Me.

And whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.

Oh, what a beautiful, beautiful promise that is!

So, if we are not hearing clearly from the Lord, or sensing He is not near, or sensing

any kind of void where He should be present—we don't have to look far.

The bottom line is, how obedient have you been to the known will, His likes and dislikes?

If you have been resisting Him because of your attachments, your wants, your passions

or self-will, that might be the very reason He is not revealing Himself to you so fully.

So, this morning I was feeling blocked, so I prayed the Binding prayer—and I still

felt blocked.

Then I heard a still small voice inside of me saying, "When you take care of what is

most important to Me, I will be with you again, in prayer and music."

In other words, do it the hard way.

Answer the letters that require mailing, dive in and get caught up.

"Then, I just might surprise you with a fresh new anointing to finish your song and

feel so very close to Me in prayer and worship."

Now, that doesn't mean that He's going to send you an angel to tell you what to do!

No, what that means is that you have intuition about what would please Him the most.

Even though it's maybe not your favorite thing to do.

So you put down your attachment and liking to fulfill His attachments and His likings.

Then that rough road full of ruts and rocks all of a sudden becomes a well-graded highway,

and everything starts to flow again, because you have found His peace in the center of

His will for your life and the good of others.

Then Jesus began to speak to me, "My precious family of Heartdwellers.

Indeed I love to dwell with you in your hearts.

And those who do not yet understand what that is, it is the prayer of worship and delight

you take in My presence.

"And how do you arrive there?

By letting go of the World, your opinion about yourself, and longing for Me deeply in your

heart.

I do not disappoint good wills.

And Clare gave you a precious piece of advice today when she said that, basically, Obedience

is the way to My Heart and the Revelation of My Being.

"I long to reveal Myself to all of you, but some of you are not quite ready.

You are still hanging on to the pleasures of the World.

You're still resisting me in things I've asked you to do.

And Clare struggles with this, as well.

But when you resolve in your will that nothing is more important to you than Me, that's

when I will be able to change your heart.

"Ask for this, 'Lord, change my heart, so that You are the only thing important to me.'

"This does not come overnight.

For most, it is a journey of letting go of the World and embracing what you think will

please Me.

It's a matter of deep integrity.

To integrate your values as a Christian into your whole life, with no corners of darkness

where the devils may exploit you.

"It is when you give permission to the little things, against what you imagine My will to

be for you, that the enemy gets a toe-hold inside the door to your heart.

When the door is barred, he cannot even begin to gain entrance into your heart—so he works

on you.

Playing you.

Feeding you permissions to do what I would not have you do.

Even as Satan did in the Garden, as he lied, "Surely you will not die if you eat of this

fruit."

Yes, he talked Eve into doing what she knew was wrong—and look at what it cost them.

"You do not see the monster trying to enter your heart.

Rather, it looks more like a tiny mouse, the issue is so small.

But understand it can become big and overwhelming in very little time.

Just like a tiny match in the forest can destroy thousands of acres, so can a tiny compromise

do the same.

"I am repeating Myself, because I long to have intimate fellowship with you all, and

it hurts My heart just as much as it hurts yours when we are not communing together.

"Oh, how I miss you, My precious ones!

This is why obedience to the 'little' things is so important.

It takes you from one rung on the ladder to the next and the next and the next.

And pretty soon, you are in My arms and we are having that sweet time of fellowship we

have both longed for.

"You see, man in his Pride does not like to obey.

He seeks independence, self-sufficiency, doing it his own way, his own prowess and devices.

Making his own decisions.

But in My world, it is the little ones who seek dependence on Me.

Trusting me, they find completeness in Me, and leave the prowess up to Me in dealing

with the World and the devil.

It is the worshipful heart that stirs Me to pity and longing for you.

"Is it not difficult to worship when you know you have transgressed or neglected My

invitations?

"I do not expect you to be perfect; just long to be perfect for Me.

This moves My heart.

Selfishness pushes Me away and I must take you through a series of lessons to learn how

important selflessness is.

You must meet yourself at rock bottom and discover how very vulnerable you are before

you are totally willing to allow Me to be your everything, your provider, your all-in-all.

And work with all your strength to resist the temptations and allurements of the World.

And to work with all your strength, to do the things that I have asked you to do.

That I hint at you to do.

Things that you don't want to do, because of a hurtful past or difficulty in your environment.

Things you just don't want to do, but yet you know deep down inside I want you to do

them.

"Cleave to Me, My precious ones.

Cry out in temptation and run from every occasion of sin.

Beg me to remove that stubborn self-will that stands in the way of you doing what you know

I really do want you to do.

"And if you fall, return to Me with a docile and repentant heart and I shall restore you.

"But the greatest blessing of all is the sweet fellowship we will have, because you

have chosen Me over all else in the World.

Even over yourself.

Remember: this is a journey, and I am committed to you all the way through to the end.

Be committed to Me as well and I will fulfill those empty and aching places within you with

My sweet presence."

Oops! We Ordered Bull Sperm - Duration: 4:37.

- We have a predicament here.

We have about roughly 30 pounds of bull semen.

- [Cameraman] That we have to get rid of.

- By the end of today.

(upbeat pop music)

- So, I made a video about boiling pee.

It was pretty fun, so I thought why not just boil semen.

That's like the next logical thing.

- [Man] What, what happened?

- We're not gonna name names,

but somebody here killed my video.

(laughs)

- Kate is a very talented producer.

She's known for pushing boundaries.

I kinda felt bad for the cow's semen.

I told Kate we should figure out something to do

with the semen because I don't want to boil it.

And here we are.

- [Woman] Are we gonna open it?

- So I have to get rid of the semen that is inside the tank.

(upbeat guitar strumming)

- [Kate] To be honest,

I let the semen sit at my desk for a whole day.

And now it's rush time.

We have three hours and a Friday.

So Alex is my production coordinator.

Is trying to figure out how to get rid of it with me.

This is a straw of semen?

- [Woman] That's not that much semen.

- [Kate] No.

- I don't think you even have enough semen to boil.

- [Man in Glasses] Not as, not as much as I thought it was.

- [Alex] No.

I was hoping that the whole tank was full of jizz.

- [Alex] It's about 4:00 pm.

We've tried asking our coworkers for some ideas.

- Just dump it down a sewer.

- What if we cross, like pollen, like what if we do,

like, chicken in a bowl?

- Yeah, biologically it wouldn't work.

But what if it did?

- Put it in a sock, like usual.

- Got little to no help.

So, I posted an ad on Craigslist.

- [Man] I kind of feel like we shouldn't offer free semen,

on Craigslist.

- [Woman] Yeah.

- Just a waiting game.

I was gonna see if anyone, um,

is part of any social groups.

I requested to join a classifieds selling bull semen group.

Apparently they're not very active,

since they still haven't approved my request.

Also, I was looking into waste disposal.

Most of the ones do not accept biological waste.

Also, gone grassroots.

- [Kate] What's going on?

- Um, right now I'm reaching out grassroots to my,

uh, social media presence.

- [Kate] Auri, great!

Yeah!

- Okay, tell me.

- Some bull semen, and--

- Bull semen?

- We're just trying to figure out what to do,

with these three straws of bull semen.

- Just put'em in some plants.

- [Alex] I think that's the best solution.

- [Kate] That's the best idea I've heard.

- [Man] Take it, make a good plant fertilizer.

- [Alex] This doesn't seem helpful.

We should ask Research.

- We have a question about just throwing semen in dirt.

- It's gotta be fine.

If you wanna put it on the ground, put it on the ground.

- I feel like if the solution is putting it into soil,

we should have, like, a ceremony.

Let's honor the bull with dirt.

- Soil.

- [Man] But where?

- [Kate] Right.

Is this your plant?

- [Woman] Yeah.

- [Kate] Can I pour bull semen on it to fertilize it?

- No.

- [Kate] This plant over here doesn't look very good.

It's kinda droopy.

- Yeah.

I think that works.

(relaxing, lo-fi beats thumping)

- [Alex] Here for the event?

- [Woman] Yeah.

(people chattering)

- [Alex] Can we gather in?

- [Man] That's the semen?

- This is three sticks of bull semen.

- [Woman] Oh, that's --

- From our friend Mr. D3 511

(applauding)

- So we have found it,

the best way to go about this is just to return,

his potential baby fat to, uh, nature.

If anyone has anything they'd like to say.

- I'll say a few words.

- Yes, please.

- A lot of semen gets wasted a lot --

(laughing)

- Uh, and so it's not uncommon for semen to go to waste.

No, in a very real way, as semen does represent life.

So I like that we come to the conclusion,

that we are taking this thing that represents life,

and we are applying it to something

that is connected to growth.

(applauding)

- Well, here we go.

- Don't get it in your eyes.

(upbeat pop music)

- Well, welcome Mr. D3 Junior to the Buzzfeed family.

(applauding)

(upbeat pop music)

(whooshing and creaking)

Ancient & Medieval Medicine: Crash Course History of Science #9 - Duration: 12:06.

We've seen how, from around 400 BCE to CE 1300, ideas in astronomy, math, and engineering

were traded all the way from Beijing to Delhi, and from Baghdad to Constantinople.

In the next episodes, we're going to dive into how some specific kinds of knowledge

evolved over time.

First up: healing.

The history of medicine is about two of our big questions: one, what is life?

What makes it so special, so fragile, so… goopy!?

Two, how do we know what we know?

Why should I take my doctor's advice?

Why are deep-fried Oreos bad for me?

It may be tempting to look at medicine as a science that has simply progressed over

time—that medicine used to be bad, and its history is a story of how it got better.

And don't get me wrong: we love modern medicine!

You'll have to take my word for it until "Crash Course: Deep-Fried Everything"

drops, but the science behind lipid transport is just fascinating.

Focusing on progress, though, obscures what worked in the past.

Ancient and medieval medicine worked for millions of people.

They understood their bodies as bounded by rules.

And regardless of what worked, early medical systems allowed people to make sense of bodies

and health.

You may think that medicine is a technē, or practically oriented knowledge.

But today, we're going to focus on systems of medicine as world-ordering theories, or

epistēmē.

These theories were built up into a textual tradition, in which doctors wrote down what

they saw and cited earlier doctors when explaining their treatments.

So let's turn to medical education.

What textbooks would a would-be doctor read in a given place and time?

[Intro Music Plays]

Let's say you lived in Song Dynasty China: you'd study machine-printed textbooks on

traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM.

In this system, humans are small pieces of one vast organism called the Entire Dang Universe.

All things within this system are composed of five elements: fire, earth, metal, water,

and wood.

In TCM, health means a balance between two forces, yin and yang, representing dark and

light, femininity and masculinity, hot and cold, and so on.

Disease means imbalance.

Thus healthcare means restoring balance, in TCM, by manipulating the energy that flows

through living bodies, called qi.

You, the would-be doc, would learn all about how to move qi around using acupuncture and

acupressure, herbal therapies, exercise, and prescription diets.

If you lived in Gupta Dynasty India, you'd also get down with a five-element theory of

matter.

But you would study the science of life, Ayurveda.

You'd probably pick up the popular textbook Charaka Samhita, or one of the other samhita—or

"collections"—that could help you memorize hundreds of named body parts.

In addition to anatomy, the samhitas would also teach you etiology, or what causes different

diseases, and symptomatology, or what diseases look like.

When it came to treatment, your samhita would have information on the eight specialites:

the diseases of children, those of the elderly, mental diseases, diseases of the sense organs,

surgery, poisons and antidotes, and aphrodisiacs.

You would learn the five karmas or actions that were used for removal of toxins from

body tissues.

And, to prepare treatments, you'd learn a lot about plants, minerals, and animals.

But treating patients is only part of Ayurveda.

The science of life concerns healthful living in general, including how to prevent disease

and influence hygiene and diet.

What if you lived in, say, fourteenth-century Bologna, Italy—home to one of the oldest

universities in the world, which opened in CE 1088!

You would attend lectures, and you'd have a hand-copied textbook, not made by a press

as in Song China.

The medical theories in your textbook would be founded on Aristotelian biology and physics.

Bodies are composed of four special bodily humors.

Each of these corresponds to one of the four elements of Empedocles: blood, made of air,

phlegm, made of water, yellow bile, made of fire, and black bile, made of earth.

Illness is an imbalance in the humors.

Too much black bile, for example, causes depression.

Treatment means restoring the right humoral balance—like, with bloodletting.

When too much of one humor built up in the body, one way to restore a balance was to

let some of the excess drain off.

But the most common treatment, then as now, was simply offering good dietary advice.

Aristotle linked the four elements with the humors, but he wasn't a doctor.

The oldest nuggets of humoral wisdom in Western Eurasian medical textbooks were attributed

to a physician named Hippocrates of Cos, which means "Gregory House" in classical Greek.

We know something of his life—he died when Aristotle was in his teens—but we don't

have many surviving works by him.

What we do have is a collection of texts of various age and unknown authorship called

the Hippocratic corpus.

According to the corpus, Hippocrates I was a fan of the Pythagoreans.

(Remember, the secret math cult?)

But his skepticism—or doubt that certain knowledge is possible—set Hippocratic medicine

apart from a lot of Greek natural philosophy.

Hippocrates emphasized reason, observation, and medical prediction.

He emphasized that diet and the environment influence health, not the direct will of the

gods.

And his oath—"do no harm"—still underpins medical education.

Hippocrates was the Jimi Hendrix of Eurasian and North African medicine, innovating a new

style that challenged traditional ideas.

But Hippocratic physicians had to compete among many schools of healers.

It was a Roman named Galen who became medicine's Michael Jackson—the popularizer of a standard

humorism that would last until the 1800s.

Galen's system absorbed the smaller, uneven Hippocratic corpus.

Galen was born around CE 130 in Pergamon.

But he made his career in Rome, treating gladiators.

This gave him lots of experience peeking into the body while sewing up wounds.

Eventually he got the offer of a lifetime: court physician to Emperor Marcus Aurelius,

who was a battle-hardened general, Stoic philosopher, and all-around hardcore dude.

Galen wrote a huge number of influential texts—supposedly five hundred!

Though only eighty-three survive today.

These show that Galen built on the systems of Hippocrates and Aristotle, but also made

detailed notes on human anatomy drawn from experience.

He accurately observed how the larynx works and demonstrated the the lungs fill up with

air.

Oh ya, and he innovated cataract surgery.

But Galen definitely got some things wrong.

One reason is that human dissection was illegal in imperial Rome and the states that succeeded

it.

So a lot of anatomy was still guesswork based on observations of animals.

For example, dissecting sheep heads, Galen identified a circulatory organ called a rete

mirabile or "wonderful net" that is found in animals like sheep and dolphins… but

doesn't actually exist in humans.

After Galen, the most notable medical theorists in the Greater Mediterranean weren't Greeks

or Romans, but Arabs or Persians who had access to both Greek and Indian sciences.

First among was the Persian polymath Abū Bakr al-Rāzī —whose name also means "Gregory

House."

Born in CE 854, al-Rāzī was prolific: he wrote dozens of books, including detailed

accounts of his cases.

He is considered by many historians to be one of the founders of several disciplines,

from psychology to opthamology.

And he was the first to describe smallpox and measles as distinct diseases.

Al-Rāzī also wrote for general audiences, educating them about health and disease.

Many of his works were encyclopedias based on Greek humoral medicine and natural philosophy.

His big one, al-Hawi al-Kabir or The Virtuous Life, was a large, influential medical encyclopedia.

Al-Rāzī was a unique dude who did exactly what he wanted.

Although he was one of the most scientific doctors of his time, he also wrote works of

Islamic prophetic medicine, al-tibb al-nabawi.

This discipline, an alternative to the Hippocratic–Galenic system, advocated traditional medical practices

mentioned in the Qur'an.

Al-Rāzī also influenced medicine by becoming the first fan of Greco-Roman humoral medicine

to beef with Galen!

He wrote a book called Shukuk 'ala alinusor—Doubts About Galen—in which he said that his own

observations contradicted some of Galen's claims.

Remember nullius in verba—"on the word of no one"—the motto of the Royal Society

of London, founded in 1660?

Al-Rāzī advocated this approach to medicine circa the year 900, over seven hundred years

earlier!

But, if you were really a medieval Italian medical student, the book you'd read probably

wouldn't be by Hippocrates, Galen, or al-Rāzī.

Instead, you'd read a translated encyclopedia featuring all of them.

In doing so, you'd participate in the scientific wonder called Scholasticism—or learning

through close readings of approved texts that recorded the observations and theories of

earlier thinkers.

Take it away, Thought Bubble!

One of the all-time greatest hits of medical education was al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb, or

The Canon of Medicine.

The Canon was written by another Persian polymath, Ibn Sina, born in 980.

Ibn Sina was widely seen as the best writer to summarize and comment on the Greco-Roman

doctors.

His Canon became one of the most important medical textbooks—and introductions to Aristotle's

physics—for six hundred years.

Your textbook is really a mashup of several different books.

Each page is like an onion: at its heart, one punctum or big idea by Aristotle, or Hippocrates

or Galen.

These are surrounded by layer upon layer of annotatio, or notes, by famous physicians

from distant cities such as Baghdad.

Your main throughline are the summaries by Ibn-Sina, whose name has been latinized as

"Avicenna".

But there are notes by Latin translators such as Gerard de Cremona or Constantinus Africanus,

plus outer layers of notes by other medical students.

Maybe you even jot down your own.

Thus—way before WebMD—you're in conversation with doctors from all across space!

And time!

In universities such as Bologna or Salerno, you might also have access to another textbook,

this one by… wait for it… a lady!

Trota of Salerno wrote Practical Medicine According to Trota and Treatments of Women,

one of books of the The Trotula Ensemble.

This group of three texts from around 1200 traveled widely throughout medieval Europe.

The Trotula became foundational to gynecology and all other topics related to women's

health.

But you might not know that this foundational text on women's health was written by a

woman, because her identity was systematically written out of history until the late twentieth

century.

Because of course it was.

Thanks Thought Bubble!

So what was "life" for many educated people in Asia and North Africa between roughly 400

BCE to CE 1300?

Life was a universal property of which humans were just interesting examples.

Life was linked to the movements of special fluids, which were the objects of medical

treatments.

Life was ultimately built out of a smaller number of elements, and good health meant

balancing fluids and elements in the right way.

How did we know what life is?

For some physicians in classical Greece or imperial Rome, careful observation and comparison

to animals were crucial methods.

Persian doctors, influenced by both Greek and Indian ideas, synthesized earlier ideas,

expanded evidence for them, and challenged and reworked them.

Why did you, medieval citizen, trust this information?

Because books told you to!

And with that, dear student, we leave you to deal with… the Black Plague of 1347.

Bummer!

Next time—we'll deep-dive into the eternal question of "what is stuff" with a group

of thinkers who tried to "science" lead into gold—the alchemists.

Police Try Playing Grand Theft Auto 5 Without Breaking Any Laws - Duration: 8:03.

- I want his car.

I'll just work hard and save up money

and eventually buy a car, like regular people do.

I'm on patrol.

Most time we come out, things are already kinda going off.

We just pretty much just respond to radio calls,

help people.

Growing up, my dad was also a police officer.

Right away, I knew that's what I want to do.

So I've actually arrested multiple people

for grand theft auto, pretty common actually.

I've played Grand Theft Auto before.

I kinda say sorry sometimes as I'm playing.

I'm just like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Not sure how I'm gonna be able to do any of this

just knowing how the game works.

I would think that I have a pretty good basis

on what the laws are,

so it's probably gonna be really tough.

We're on our way to go get a haircut.

Already I want to go on the wrong side of the road.

It was a right on red.

You just have to make a stop and you can go.

That person is, well, that person's jaywalking.

That's a ticket.

There's no indicators in this game, right?

Okay, just making sure.

And now I'm at a red light.

It's not hard.

It's just frustrating not being able to just go.

This person is just a really bad driver.

I'm just gonna pretend like I'm using my indicator.

They almost hit that ped in the street, or pedestrian.

- [Man] I'll suck your (bleep).

- That might be prostitution, I don't know,

just overhearing that call.

So right on red, it's fine if you make a stop

at a red light.

I'm just gonna creep forward.

Maybe it doesn't know I'm there.

Hey, hey, hey, mother.

Okay.

This game is like designed for me to fail.

It makes sense though,

that type of driver in southern California,

it's accurate.

I'm just gonna

pass this car

if I don't hit him.

Okay, we're good.

Oh, now it goes.

Alright, not parking in the red.

We're good.

Alright, gonna get a haircut.

I'll just run the rest of the way.

Not in the street though.

- [Barber] Shall we begin?

- That's a little ominous, but alright.

Well after all that, I've done one thing.

Traffic is like the worst.

I'm going to get my car washed.

There's no U-turns and it's telling me

to make a U-turn.

Alright, I'm just gonna make a left when I can.

It's an unprotected left.

You can go on yellow, so that's fine.

Oh, green, and that car's ran a red light.

Another ticket.

Another red light.

Hey, hey, watch yourself.

No.

What?

I was in the intersection when it was yellow.

That's fine.

This lady's just crossing the street.

I would talk to them, and if they were being really cool

and I explain, you know hey, this is what you did,

you can't be doing that,

and if they were cool back, mostly I'd be like,

alright, this is a warning.

So right off the--

Can I do an exchange?

This is an exchange of info real quick.

I'm just gonna pretend like I'm handing info

over to that person.

So we're fine.

As long as you exchange info,

there is no need to actually call the police.

If it's just like a simple fender bender

like that was, all you have to do is exchange info

and you guys can be on your way.

Is there a horn?

They didn't go.

I'm stuck at the light again.

Is this because I hit them?

Now they feel like going all of a sudden.

Oh, they're just awful now.

They're just going right down the middle of the wrong way.

At that point, that would be reckless driving.

I'm pretty sure the limit line

is back there where I'm at,

so that driver would be in the intersection.

Alright, gonna get my car washed.

Two things done, not too bad.

Okay, so let's go to the fair.

Excuse you.

Not again.

It is not okay for a car

to just make their own lane.

That would be lane straddling.

Oh, mother.

They created their own lane,

and then they went around me,

an unsafe lane change from their fake lane they made up.

I'm so frustrated.

I just don't like traffic.

You better go.

There we go.

Okay, I was in the intersection.

We're fine.

Okay, take it.

I wouldn't pull me over.

Okay, nothing bothers me more

than people who just walk in the middle of the street.

If I can't drive on the sidewalk,

you can't walk in the street.

- [Woman] You want a date, suga?

You're handsome.

- Funny enough, pretty much a ticket.

You would think, no, that'd be something more.

Nope.

Who did that?

Alright, that's a hit and run.

That person's gone.

Green light, we're good.

Alright, this car just wants to run the red light.

Alright, well, I missed that light,

so I guess I'm just gonna back it up.

If you are a little bit in the crosswalk,

you are perfectly fine reversing.

If you were in the intersection, just go.

We don't care.

Whoa, and he's okay to cross.

He was the pedestrian, he was in the right.

The unsafe left turn for a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

Just gonna go park.

This is so weird.

This is very different

than how I've ever played this game.

- [Woman] Well, I finally arranged a three-way

between Fred from my overeaters group

and Phil from my sex addicts group.

- Alright, you go.

That's not illegal.

15 dollars.

I am not having fun.

You're supposed to have fun at the pier,

but it was a really big headache just to get over here.

And I'm alone, so that's kinda sad too.

Got this fresh new haircut and no one to see it.

15 dollars for one rollercoaster ride.

It's a children rollercoaster.

That's the fun I just had.

I'm gonna go see a movie.

This works like a regular parking lot.

I don't think there's a ticket for going the wrong way

in the parking lot.

I think I would just yell at you

for going the wrong way in the parking lot.

That was close.

We're good.

That's a very tiny stop sign.

I need more cash to pick up a prostitute?

I've had a long day in traffic.

I just want to go see a movie.

Alright, this guy just gets to walk whenever he wants.

That hand is clearly up.

Oh, is this parking?

Yeah.

Legally parked.

Gonna go see a movie.

The movie theater is closed.

10AM to 12PM.

About four hours early.

I did all that, and I don't get to go see a movie.

Well, I'm just gonna walk around the streets,

and I'm sure nothing bad will happen.

And he has a open alcohol container.

Even if you have it in a paper bag,

we know what it is.

Oh look, they're in pursuit.

To me, that looked like a regular driver or something,

or it can be a stolen car.

Bumping into people is not illegal.

See, these are good guys.

Following along, they're waiting for the okay to cross.

Oh, street vendors.

Technically, they don't have a permit, it's illegal.

I'm gonna assume they have permits.

- [Man] (bleep) off.

- That's uncalled for, but hurting people's feelings

is also not illegal so it's fine.

You would think that people would not call

for something like that though, but it happens.

Alright, whatever, it's probably time.

There we go.

That took a lot.

That was a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be.

Overall, I think I did fine.

It's really hard.

- [Producer] So we had regular people try this out.

One person had 25 crimes, and one person had 18 crimes.

- That's pretty bad.

Really imagine what their driving looked like.

Unless you actively go out and punch someone.

- It's so fun to hit people and punch people.

- [Producer] One person only had four crimes.

- Having four in the game is good,

just because of how hard it makes it.

Having four on the road, it's not good.

You know what you're doing.

It was fun.

It was a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be though,

for sure.

I did not think I was gonna get

this frustrated with traffic.

Roseanne Had Some Words For Her 9-Year-Old Co-Star - Duration: 1:58.

Roseanne Barr has something to say about her young black co-star, 9-year-old Jayden Rey.

On Thursday, May 31st, the controversial comedian took to Twitter to share her thoughts following

the cancellation of her ABC sitcom Roseanne due to her recent racist tweets.

In a tweet that's since been deleted, Barr addressed Rey, who played her granddaughter

Mary Conner on the reboot, and revealed that she's "ashamed" of herself for saying something

that could've hurt the child.

She wrote,

"The saddest part of all is 4 Jayden Rey on the show whom I grew 2 love so much & am so

ashamed of myself that she would ever think I do not love her [because] she is African

American.

It's the most gawd awful painful thing.

I can't let myself cave in tho."

Roseanne was canceled by ABC after Barr posted a racist and Islamophobic tweet about Valerie

Jarrett, a former White House senior advisor to President Barack Obama.

Barr faced swift backlash for her racist remarks and later apologized for her words.

However, she also tried to excuse her behavior by stating that her posts were the result

of a late-night tweet while on Ambien.

Sanofi, the company behind Ambien, quickly distanced themselves from Barr, stating,

"While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect

of any Sanofi medication."

Barr's co-stars, including Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, and Sara Gilbert, also condemned

Barr's remarks.

While Fishman called Barr's words "reprehensible and intolerable" and Kenney described her

co-star's actions as "inexcusable," Gilbert tweeted out,

"Roseanne's recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and

do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show.

I am disappointed in her actions to say the least."

As a result of Barr's tweets, not only was the Roseanne reboot canceled, but reruns of

Roseanne were pulled from air and Barr was dropped as a client of ICM Partners.

The Unconstitutional Census Power Grab - Duration: 2:53.

The Trump administration's decision to alter the 2020 Census to ask people if they are

American citizens is unconstitutional.

17 state Attorneys General have already sued on these grounds.

It would also hurt many disadvantaged people.

And there is no good reason for it.

It's a blatant political power grab.

The constitution calls for "actual enumeration" of the total population for an explicit purpose:

To count the residents–not just citizens, residents–of every state to properly allocate

congressional representatives to the states based on population.

Asking whether someone is a citizen could cause some immigrants–not just non-citizens,

but also those with family members or close friends who aren't citizens–not to respond

for fear they or their loved ones would be deported.

In the current climate of fear, this is not an irrational response.

The result would be a systemic undercounting of immigrant communities–with two grossly

unfair results.

First, these communities and the states they're in would get less federal aide.

Census data is used in over 132 programs nationwide to allocate over $675 billion each year.

An undercount would deprive many immigrant communities and their states of the health

care, education, and assistance they need and are entitled to.

Second, the Census count determines the distribution of congressional seats among states.

Under the Constitution, these seats depend on the total number of people residing in

the state, not just citizens.

If immigrant communities under-participate in the Census, they and the states they're

in would have fewer representatives in Congress.

Which is the real reason for this move by the Trump administration.

It's no secret that immigrants with the right to vote tend to vote for Democrats.

So undercounting neighborhoods that are heavily Latino or Asian would mean fewer Democratic

members of Congress.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says the citizenship question is necessary in order to better enforce

the Voting Rights Act.

Baloney.

The Trump administration has shown zero interest in the Voting Rights Act.

It has even defended voter suppression laws in court.

This is nothing but a Republican power grab orchestrated by the White House.

Tell your members of Congress, it must be stopped.

Drake Ties Michael Jackson for Billboard Hot 100 Milestone | Billboard News - Duration: 2:24.

(Drake performs)

Drake ties the King of Pop for a Billboard Hot 100 milestone,

Lil Baby reaches a new high, plus Cardi B makes a big comeback,

all in this week's Hot 100 top 10!

Let's begin with one of the two most talked about rappers over the past week --

Yes, Mr. Drizzy Drake. Now, hip-hop beef with Pusha T aside, Drake's "Nice For What"

rules for a sixth total week. With his latest frame at the top, Drake ties none other

than Michael Jackson for the second-most career weeks logged at No. 1

among solo males with 37 each. They both now trail only Usher for the

most among male soloists all time as the "Confessions" singer leads with 47 total.

(Usher performs)

At No. 3, Drake's "God's Plan" stays inside the chart's lead trio for a 19th

consecutive week, making it the only song in the history of the chart to

enjoy its first 19 frames inside the top three.

The song previously spent 11 weeks at No. 1.

(Drake performs)

Elsewhere, Lil Baby and Drake hit No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart

as "Yes Indeed" reaches the summit thanks to 37.6 million U.S. streams

in the week ending May 31, according to Nielsen Music.

While this is Lil Baby's first chart leader, it marks Drake's record-breaking fifth trip

to the top, passing Justin Bieber's four for the most No.1s in the chart's history.

The track also leads the audio subscription services-based

On-Demand Streaming Songs chart for a second week,

while holding at No. 6 on the Hot 100.

(Performance)

Hot 100 powerhouse Cardi B returns to top ten form with "I Like It" alongside

Bad Bunny and J Balvin, thanks in large part to the song's music video premiere.

Jumping 19-7 on the Hot 100 for a new peak, "I Like It" climbs 15-5 on

Streaming Songs after posting 31 million streams,

a 57 percent uptick over the previous week!

(Performance)

Apple shows animated Lego sets to promote augmented reality updates - Duration: 3:12.

Apple shows animated Lego sets to promote augmented reality updates

Apple used animated virtual Lego blocks to demonstrate its updated augmented reality technology Monday at its Worldwide Developers Conference keynote. The update will be part of Apple's iOS 12 software update coming later this year.

"AR is transformational technology," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.

Apple revealed ARKit, its augmented reality technology for developers, at last year's WWDC. Federighi introduced the second-generation version, which has improved technology such as better facial tracking and 3D-object detection.

The update will allow users to have shared experiences, like playing a game together. He demonstrated an AR game showing two people knocking down virtual wooden blocks. Apple also demonstrated a virtual Lego set that animates the famed plastic building block toy.

Apple's augmented reality efforts compete with Google ARCore, formerly known as Project Tango.

Developers can use Apple's tools to see how digital objects like a guitar would look like through their device screens if the objects were in their room in real life.

Google has partnered with retailers to help users envision what furniture would look like in their homes before they buy it. Apple also introduced a new file format, called USDZ, developers can use for AR projects.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has been publicly bullish on the potential for augmented reality, meaning technology that adds computer-generated graphics, data or information over a real life scene.

An iPhone owner, for example, could aim the device's camera at a restaurant and see tags that show popular menu items, Yelp reviews or the establishment's history.

"I see AR as being profound," Cook said during Apple's first quarter earnings call in February. "AR has the ability to amplify human performance instead of isolating humans, and so I am a huge, huge believer in AR.

We put a lot of energy on AR.".

World Cup 2018 kit power rankings - Daily News - Duration: 8:47.

</form> How's your World Cup fever coming along? Yeah, us too. Epidemic proportions round here

One of us even came in with his hair like Carlos Valderrama the other day. You've got to embrace it though, haven't you? And one surefire way to stoke your World Cup fever is to look at the kits that all 32 teams will be sporting in Russia this summer

Well, nearly all 32. We don't control North African and Western Asia FAs, as much as we'd like to

So with a couple of notable exceptions, here's a rundown of ALL* the home strips we'll be seeing at the tournament, from the worst to the very, very best

*almost all N/A: Morocco Yeah. so we've hit a snag already. The Moroccan FA still haven't released the team's kit for the tournament due to fears of forgery in the country, so they're keeping the Adidas design close to their chest before the big reveal in late May

That kit above is the one they wore in the qualifiers, so we've at least given you that

N/A: Iran And the same is true for Iran. We'll get started for real now, promise

30. Russia The hosts could have gone for something daring, special and memorable for their time in the spotlight in the summer

Instead they've gone for this. 29. Serbia It's not that different to a few kits you'll see further down, but it's the lack of pattern on the front which has done for this one

It's just a bit bland. 28. Sweden Sweden have absolutely, definitely, 100 per cent worn this in a tournament before, right? Come on lads

27. Switzerland Ditto Switzerland. 26. Panama It looks a bit like a British Lions kit, doesn't it? And rugby references have absolutely no place here, old chap

25. Tunisia You don't see Uhlsport on the international stage very often. There's probably a reason for that

24. Denmark They love a Hummel kit don't they, the Danes? Like Carlsberg and back bacon, you can always rely on that shared bond

And you can always rely on the kit to look exactly like this as well. 23. South Korea Yeah it's a bit basic, but it's the colour that saves it

When South Korea co-hosted the World Cup in 2002 their effort was fairly bright - almost a little too bright, in truth - but this is a more pleasing shade of red and that saves it

22. Saudi Arabia The green is bright and bold and it almost makes the white seem crisper, which is a good thing

Bet it'd be a nightmare to get grass stains out of, though. 21. Poland Yep, that's a Poland kit

It's definitely a Poland kit. It's saved by the subtle pattern on the front though

20. Senegal But have a look at that pattern on this front. IT'S A LION! What's not to love about that? Up the Lions of Teranga

19. Australia Bonza sleeves, mate. And it is the sleeves that have really saved this from being the pretty standard Australia Nike shirt that they always wear

We were starting to think they just kept the same one for every game, like a footballing baggy green, but apparently not

18. Mexico Mexico's flash of green is always welcome at every World Cup they grace, but they do seem to have taken the Route One approach this time around

It'll do though. 17. Uruguay Another team in a distinctive kit, Uruguay do also seem to have fallen into the "a bit 2012 Olympics" mode with their effort

The sun on the front is good though. Read More World Cup 2018 16. Iceland Iceland will arrive for their first ever World Cup not looking all that different from their Euro 2016 adventure, but different enough

The white, almost frosty quality on the shoulders is a nice touch, and will add something extra to those thunder claps that are going to echo all around Russia

15. Costa Rica New Balance make a rare World Cup appearance with this simple but effective effort for Costa Rica which features a nice pattern on the front

Alright, innit? 14. Portugal Yep, it's a Portugal kit alright. The gold numbering and lettering might well have been a suggestion from Cristiano Ronaldo himself, but seeing as they are the reigning European champions then we'll let them get away with it

13. England Sorry for the position, superstition fans. There have been worse England kits though

The collar looks nice, and the more simplistic design fits in well with the placement of the number

Should be a winner with the fans, even if the team aren't. 12. Croatia Of course there were always going to be red and white checks, but you have to admire the way that Croatia have gone big and bold with their effort this time around

They're Croatia alright, and they don't care who knows it. 11. Brazil Yep, it's a Brazil kit

In fact, it's SO much of a Brazil kit that Nike's designers apparently went to the Football Museum in Sao Paulo and created a yellow which exactly matches the yellow worn at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, when they were really rather good and won the thing

No pressure there then, Neymar. 10. Argentina It's alright. Actually it's better than alright

It's an Argentina kit made by Adidas, so it'd be hard for it not to be alright. It's all a bit paint by numbers, but those numbers are great ones

9. Peru Everyone loves a red sash don't they? And as such everyone should probably love Peru, too

The South Americans have reached their first World Cup since 1982, and they'll be going there with a sprinkling of gold on their sleeves, which is both ambitious and very showy, and we're all for that

8. Egypt Mo Salah will be running down the wing in this, and it deserves to be a hit

There's something about the check pattern on the shirt and the shade of red which we like

It's bit different, and that is to be applauded. 7. France This is a bloomin' nice football kit

Not veering too far away from traditional French kits, but does it need to? Of course not

Would maybe be higher if they'd stuck their neck out and gone all blue. But we're fans

Solid top 10 kit. 6. Germany As with the rest of this batch of Adidas kits, there is something of a pleasingly retro look to the number Germany will be wearing in Russia

And it suits them, doesn't it? Get used to it because you'll probably be seeing it deep into the tournament

5. Spain After the debacle that was the 2014 World Cup, Spain need to go big this time if they are going to regain their reputation

This is a good start. 4. Japan Leicester's Shinji Okazaki and teammates will arrive in Russia in style in this sleek number that is sure to please fans in the Hipster Group H which also features Poland, Senegal and Colombia

*drools* 3. Belgium Yes, it's a cross between something your Nan would knit and a football shirt, but by heavens does it work

England will be up against these shirts, and they are right to be both as intimidated and afraid as they're bound to be

2. Colombia The best of the Adidas kits - and almost the best of all the bloomin' kits - is this effort from Colombia

Look at it, drink it in, and immediately go out there and buy it the first chance you get

It's glorious. 1. Nigeria Is there an eighth wonder of the world yet? If there isn't can it be this? Congratulations Nigeria, the most deserving of No

1s. poll loading Who will win the 2018 World Cup? 39000+ VOTES SO FAR Brazil Germany Spain Argentina France England Portugal Belgium Uruguay Other

Don't know what that was, but I did it anyways

Aaah! Almost. That's like the easiest thing ever why am I dying?

What was that!?

How did I die there? That like made no sense

That's like the easiest thing ever

This music makes me want to get up and dance, just be like, "Screw this game I just want to dance!"

Sorry if I'm starting to get a little bit quiet it's just because I'm getting sucked into this game and I need to focus

Sorry I think I just blew my speaker out. Hold on guys

DanTDM's freaking mu-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-sic!

Look at all those shark things. This game does want to kill me! I'm telling you!

Memes-oh come on. I say memes. It kills me. How can it kill you to say memes?

I'm gonna try to get past all the parts that I die at.

Not yet, at attempt 40 and we're still not- uh.

This is gonna take a long time to edit

Might still be editing it tomorrow

Did the game just crash?

No, okay, sorry about that little moment there but

It literally just paused on its own.

Get subscribers.

And just someone nice to talk to.

He's really good. Really really good. yeah yeah.

I can not recommend him enough. For some reason. It's weird because.

I don't know.

It's just something about people.

You know when they're going to do well. And I told him.

I was his first subscriber.

Told him early on. You've got potential there.

He might be on television one day.

Advertising teabags or some utter nonsense.

He will go far.

And good luck to him.

Enjoying life. That is it.

He has always got a smile on.

Always going like that.

I am taking the mickey a bit today.

I have gone. Because that is what he does.

He comes on. Literally. Full of energy. Full of life. And smiles. Brilliant.

That is what people want.

They are missing that.

Let us watch Mister Enjoying life.

Just for a minute. What's he up to ?

Let's see. What's he doing ?

Absolutely amazing lad.

You will watch him come on in a minute.

He will go. If he still has the energy. Because he has been on for a while.

So if you want your channel promoted. This is a good guy to get on.

Saying the vibes all positive.

yeah. It's really good. We are friends.

He actually lives half an hour from me.

He did a 12 hour live and I collaborated with him.

You'll see me falling in a river. A lot of fun.

Look at her face. She's not happy. She's not happy.

At least she's not tied to a tree.

I mean. Come on. Someone says. I'm going to take you in the forest. I'm going to tie you to a tree.

And give you some Madras curry.

You are going tp think. What sort of weirdo are you ?

But I went along with it.

I did it. Sounds a bit weird.

Thank You Tina.

Absolutely fantastic Tina lass.

Come on Tina.

That is brilliant Tina. You did it. Amazing Tina. Very good.

To be honest. That was rubbish. But your singing is good.

I'm going to be honest.

Rubbish. Your singing is great.

Your spice (SPICE EATING CHALLENGE) is not great. Your spice is rubbish. Can I be honest.

Can I be honest Tina ?

And not upset you.

Are you chicken ? Are you chicken ?

What's up guys ? What's going on ?

I see two chickens. Four chickens.

Now that's quite funny. Sort of mental.

That's what makes it funny. When he comes on doing that.

I can't do it. I'm too close to the camera.

What the hell ?

What's going on ? It's just too crazy. Rantjamz. No. It's Rantjamz wife you plonker. Wife.

How To Use Eyeshadow Quad Palette | Revlon Colostay - Duration: 13:13.

hi my name is Melissa van Dijk and I'm a professional makeup artist and for

today's video I thought about I would share with you a beautiful I makeup look

by only using these four shades because they are common in drugstores so most

people would buy them and they nearly have no idea how they should use them

because there are four shades sometimes you can also well with these ones you

can all use them on its own just make sure that you're blending it out nicely

so that there aren't any harsh lines but for today's video I thought I would use

all of them and I will show you how you can do a simple about beautiful eye

makeup look so I have already my base on and I also prepped my eyelids before I'm

going to apply any eyeshadow shades so if you have really oily lids I would

recommend using an eye primer if you have really dry oily lids then don't

mind skip the primer you can also apply it on its own and what I did I just used

a little bit of concealer and I just blended it into the skin and then use a

little bit translucent powder on top which will nearly do the same thing and

this is just that it won't crease during the day so first off we are going to

start with the first shade so I'm going to take this a little bit more dense but

still fluffy brush and I'm going to pick this shade right here so it's the second

darkest shade and I'm going to pop this in my crease and with these all four

shades they are all in a shimmery like finish but the lighter want a little

more shimmery than the darker ones so that's why I'm going to pick this one

right here in my crease and I'm going to choose this brush right here so I packed

my brush a little bit with some eyeshadow on it and I'm just going to

apply it in my crease and I'm going from the left to the right now it will look a

little bit more messy because it's a shimmery shade but still just because

it's shimmer doesn't mean that you can't really use it in your crease I just

wouldn't use it if you have very hudud eyes because then it can make it look a

little bit worse so I wouldn't recommend doing this for hooded eyes if you have

hooded eyes make sure that the crease shade is met

and then on the lid you still can use a little bit of shimmer so I'm just going

to blend this out and I'm also going to connect it with the outer edge and with

the lash line so I'm keeping my main brush in the crease but then with no

product on it well the main product I have already distribute but I'm just

going to fluff it out

then I'm going to take a clean fluffy brush I'm just going over it

and blend it out don't mind about this part right here because we are going to

clean it up later on but I'm just going to focus now in my crease and also above

now on to the second shade I'm going to take this one right here and I'm going

to use my finger to apply it and if you need to even also use a little bit of

setting spray or just water and spray your finger with it so that it can pick

up a little bit more pigment so and now I'm just cutting my finger in it and

there you will see that I picked up a lot of the product and I'm going to pop

this now on my main mobile it and I'm going from the lash line towards the

crease

so now we can move on to the third chain now for the third chain I'm going to

pick the darkest one and I'm going to apply it with a stiff rounded brush

towards the outer corner of my eye so that I can add a little bit more depth

to the eye look so at first I just picked a brush with some product and I'm

going to dab it at first before I'm going to blend it so that I can add a

little bit more depth to this outer part and then I'm going to blend it in with

the cream shade

and don't forget that you always should have a clean brush with you so that you

just can't blend the shade into each other without adding any extra color to

it and this shade I'm also going to keep in the crease and I'm not going to drag

it above

so now I'm going back in with the light green shade which we have used on the

main lid I'm going to apply a little bit more on top of the dark green so that

the shades will melt into each other

so now I have added a little bit more depth to the outer part and now we can

move on to the lower lash line now for the lower lash line I'm going to pick

the crease shade again this one right here and I'm going to use an angle brush

but it's a fluffy brush so that I can get it nicely on the lower lash and I'm

going to connect it with the outer part of this area right here so I'm just

going to split the product underneath the lower lash line I'm going to connect

it with the outer corner and it should look a little bit more smoked out so

that's why I have chosen the fluffy brush if you just wanted to keep it just

underneath the lower lash line then go with a little bit of a smaller and also

stiffer brush but this is just what I wanted to turn out and I'm also going

close to the inner corner and then with the brush with no product on it I'm

going to blend it

so I'm going to add a little bit more depth to this part

and then smoke it out

so and now for the other part again I'm going to use the brush again where I

have used a little bit concealer on top I'm going to create a clean line

so that the lower lashline will melt in with the upper part back in with the

blending

and I'm connecting the two trades into each other now with the last trade this

is the lightest shade and I'm going to use this as a highlighter so I'm going

to use a tiny brush and I'm going to use a little bit of setting spray and I'm

going to put it in the inner corner and also underneath my brows so just spray

the brush with a little bit of setting spray or even water it makes the same

and then I can't get into this shade right here and I'm coating the brush and

then we will pop it in inner corner and also underneath the brows just open up

so if you have something like I do and you don't want that this is so close to

your nose or whatever I don't know what happened there

take your sponge or brush with some foundation on it and you always can

clean it and if you like to and you just cut off a little bit of product then go

back in with the concealer on the sponge or on the brush and get it on it

so this is where I wanted and also right

and as I said before you can all use these trades on its own just make sure

that it's nicely blended that there aren't any harsh lines but this is now

the outcoming eye makeup look that I have created with

this palette and I'm just going to finish off the other side and then we

are done so now that we have used all the shades we can now move on to mascara

so I'm just going to use a few coats of mascara and then you are done with the

eye makeup look and then we can move on to the lips so now the eyes are done and

I have just a few coats of mascara to make them really pop and now we can move

on to the lips and a reason why I cancelled out my natural lip color with

some concealer is because I have two shades right here which can match with

the eye makeup look so because green is quite cool toned I can use this stretch

right here which is a similar green that I have on the eyes but then I think it

would be too much green or this purplish right here and this is also cool toned

purplish and I just think that this will match beautiful with it and when I took

some pictures where I had 12 of these on then I just found myself a little bit

more like prettier with this shade right here because this was just too much

green and this is also why I'm going to choose this one right here so I'm going

to pop this on my lip of course you can go with any other natural color I just

wouldn't go with like a really warm tone to shade the sides of let's say red

because red and green complements each other

but I wouldn't go with a full-on orange lip or something like that I would keep

it natural or go with a cool tone trade so that's what I'm going to pop on this

lip shade right now and then we are basically done with the eye makeup look

so I'm just going to pop this on and I just can't stop my natural lip color

because this shade is quite unusual and to get it pretty I just like to get rid

of my actual lip color so that nothing will look

and it's will they just only like this shade today I have a clean canvas so now

that the lipstick is on this is a completed makeup look and I hope that

you'll like it and I just created the eye makeup look

by using default shades and this is all what you need to create a beautiful eye

makeup look and as I said go also for the single ones you can also apply them

on your lips you don't have to go with the fourth but if you are going to

choose the shades like with four different shades in it

then I would suggest you to pick some where you have two Metz and also to

shimmery ones like in highlighting shade and for the main lid and then to matte

ones for the crease and also lower lash line or outer corner this would be the

perfect combination of shades and you could create any look with it and it

also would suit your and also it would suit nearly every when I would suit

every I'm a shape so just go for this one and that's what I created if you

have the same palette at home now you can try it out or if you have a similar

one I know that my mother she has like quite a lot of them and she has them

nearly also in blues and also in purples but she has no idea how to use them so

that's how I actually came to this idea and also I hope that this is also

helpful for you and this is the total eye makeup look and thank you so much

for watching and I hope that you enjoyed it don't forget to give me thumbs up if

you liked it and if you want to see it other eye makeup look at this is right

here and if you want to be subscribed to my channel this is right in the corner

I Am Ahoyager - Episode 2 - Duration: 3:16.

Oh, what the hell?

Isn't this just cozy?

Hello?

Anybody?

Hey?

Oh?

Look who we have here!

Listen!

I'm Captain Pakday of the starship Ahoyager!

I've done nothing wrong and I demand you.

Pardon me?

Do you have any rat instead?

Captain's journal.

I guess I wasn't as alone as a first thought!

It appears an alien civilization inhabits this garbage filled planet.

First contact wasn't ideal and I haven't learned very much.

Except that their taste in food is a bit questionable.

You know, you could at least heat this up for me!

Fine, I'll do it myself!

I'm the captain of a freaking spaceship, not some

goddamn cook!

Of all the places to be stranded I get stuck with a bunch of morons who eat their soup

of whatever this shit is, cold!

See that?

Was that so damn hard?

Yeah, go on.

Ignore me all you want.

At least I won't be the one getting E. coli.

Oh man, I could really go for a cigarette right about now!

I swear I had a pack on me!

And my lighter to?

Well, no matter, when I get back to the ship, I...

I could just.

The Ahoyager.

Oh God!

Where the hell are they?

If I could just remember!

I guess that's why they don't heat this stuff up.
