Youtube daily report Mar 4 2018

Why are we still falling?

I don't know. I didn't know this hole was so deep.

WHAT? Then why did you push me?

I didn't push you. You fell by yourself.

Then why are you falling with me?

Because I am the main hero in this video so I jumped down here to save you.

So you jumped down here to use me as a mattress?

Pff, noo.

This is not how I remember it.

Come with me! I have something to show you.

Is that a... hole?

The best part is down there! Look!

What the-

Nah, this is not how I remember it.

I'm gonna kill you!

Wait.

I didn't lie about the best part!

Just wait for us to get to the bottom.

Oh, the bottom...

And you didn't think about the fact that it's going to...

...KILL US?

I already told you I didn't know this hole was so deep.

Then how do you know what...

You know what? Fine.

I don't even care if we're going to survive.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO FINALLY FALL?

I'm asking the same thing. I think those walls are still repeating.

What if... we're going to stay here forever?

Oh, look. Wi-Fi.

Is this how you want to spend the rest of your life?

Look, Adela has her own Discord server.

Who the heck is Adela?

I found this in the description.

You can send messages and share stuff.

It's not going to last.

How can you-

It's gone.

Wait, we're almost there! I can see my life right before my eyes!

You're going to take out the dishes.

Why do I hear a motorbike?

Much better.

We're almost there!

What?

Where are we?

And what's so special about it?

Wait for it!

REALLY? YOU LITTLE-

NASA Images Aren't Always Real, This Is How Space Artists Create Them - Duration: 7:01.

I am a visualization scientist.

I basically try to come up with ways of explaining complex science stories through the visuals,

and developing artwork and illustrations that actually can help explain the science story

to people.

For decades, popular culture and shows like Star Trek inspired a generation of scientists

by envisioning what space might look like.

But wait, what does space actually look like?

Heart nebulas, celestial collisions, a bird's eye view of the Milky Way, astronomers are

charting the outer reaches of the cosmos and bringing back jaw dropping images from telescopes

like Hubble and its infrared cousin, Spitzer.

If you look down at the bottom of that Milky Way image, you'll see these two words: artist

concept.

This sweeping image of the Orion Nebula, actually looks like this.

And the Trappist-1 star system, the latest discovery of seven potentially habitable exoplanets

that made national headlines is really only a box of grey and white pixels.

You see, space art is part of NASA and it has been since before we went to the moon.

You may remember our host Amy explored this in a previous episode.

It inspired us to track down the scientist behind some of NASA's most fascinating images.

Most space imagery begin with data - very, very complex data.

And transforming these numbers and graphs into an image that captures the public's

imagination requires a delicate balance between science and art.

And that is where Robert comes in.

As an astronomer and an artist, Robert isn't editing images so much as he's making an

artistic hypothesis grounded in facts, so we can visualize what's really happening

up there.

And for objects we haven't even seen yet, like Trappist-1, the artist rendition is a

meticulous process.

Once a result shows up, the first thing I'll do is get a copy of the paper and look over

it.

I just want to understand what is actually being presented as purely science.

Then usually the next step is to contact the scientists involved in the research directly,

and discuss with them how we might go about illustrating their results.

The first day that I saw the data plot of the light curve from the Trappist 1 Star,

my jaw dropped, it was just a forest of deeps dips in the light curve, and we knew there

was a whole flurry of activity.

This data doesn't look like much to the untrained eye, but the depth of the dip reveals

the size of the planet.

And by studying tiny blips of light as the planets pass the star, otherwise known as

the transit method, astronomers can tell that the exoplanets orbit close to its star.

All of this information is critical so Robert can paint the right picture.

You can actually figure out how big the planet is, what its surface temperature would be,

because of that proximity. This is a really tight close-in solar system, so that became

an exciting angle that we wanted to take into the graphics as well.

This is nothing like our own solar system.

To tell a big story like Trappist-1, Robert takes the scientific limitations seriously,

because the wrong color could be very misleading.

Rendering an exo-planet with a bright green continents, would be crossing a line for us.

We don't want to say, hey we found life on this planet and showing green really would

communicate that.

It's enough to show some evidence of water.

A lot of times, we've made special efforts to make the water not look super appealing,

not like this tropical deep blue appearance.

You would think that complete accuracy would be the goal when doing astronomical illustrations,

but that isn't always the case.

The primary goal is communication and understanding.

Communicating space discoveries with art has a long and storied history.

One of the fathers of modern space art was the famed Chesley Bonestell, a designer and

illustrator.

In the 1950s, he created an image of Saturn's moon Titan before Neil Armstrong took his

first steps on the lunar surface.

Carl Sagan once famously said of Chesley, " I didn't know what other worlds looked

like until I saw Bonestell's paintings."

His work was so widely acclaimed that his illustrations accompanied articles written

by German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun, which ultimately inspired the American space

program.

Disney: Many of the things that seem impossible now will become realities tomorrow.

Having a visual response to technical triumphs was something NASA latched onto early on.

For over 50 years, NASA worked closely with artists and creative leaders, like Walt Disney

and Norman Rockwell, to help shape the stories of spaceflight.

It's the same legacy today, just with more advanced scientific understanding and better

tools to imagine what far off worlds might look like if we could visit them.

We want to take a lot of care to make sure that we don't oversell parts of the story

that isn't actually part of the story.

There are people who just look and think, oh NASA's photographed a planet and they

don't understand that actually that was a piece of art.

On the other hand, if we don't do that, and don't put a piece of compelling artwork,

then people may never even look at the story anyway.

We're putting as much science as we can, of what we know today, and I like to think

that in 50 years when people come back and look at the various pictures of exoplanets

after maybe we actually finally know what they look like, they might wink and smile

to each other, oh that's so funny, they thought there was water on that one -- But

also appreciate this is a historical record of how our understanding of these planets

has changed over time.

Turns out, 50 years later was an overestimate.

So much of what we thought we knew about Trappist-1 just changed.

Which means Robert had to get back to the drawing board and quickly re-do the artwork

for these exoplanets.

Robert described the changes during a Facebook live event, and for him, density was a game

changer.

For astronomers we literally know of thousands of exoplanets but these are the only seven

that we have the precise measurements of the mass, and from that the density.

And density for astronomers is incredibly important because that's the first step

to deciding what they're actually made of.

Knowing the densities changed our understanding of what the Trappist-1 planets looked like.

For instance, back in 2017, scientists thought planet d was rocky.

But turns out, it has the lowest density of the seven, and it's actually a water world.

And for planet e, Robert and his team thought it was a watery planet, but it's actually

super rocky and has the same density as Earth!

Meaning, Planet e is the most earth-like planet we know yet.

We're a long way away from sending a spacecraft to Trappist-1, without warp drive of course.

So for now, the artwork will continue to stand as our best guess.

Oscars 2018: What to Know About Shape of Water, Three Billboards, Get Out and Call Me by Your Name - Duration: 13:09.

The end of 2017 turned out a number of very good movies.

The Oscar nominees for Best Picture include some exceptional examples

of creative visual storytelling, thought-provoking messages

and themes that reflect our world

on a deeper level than we might even realize at first.

So let's dig in and take a look

at what's most innovative and striking

about some of the year's best pictures.

Before we go on, we want to tell you a little bit

about this video's sponsor, Skillshare,

which is a really great online learning community.

They've got classes on everything we love,

video production, writing, photography.

Now, back to the Oscars.

Director Guillermo del Toro has said Shape of Water

is his personal favorite out of all the films he's made.

[It's the movie I like the most that I've ever made.]

[I think it's the best movie.]

It's also one of his most popular --

adult audiences might find it revitalizing to be spoken to

in the cinematic language of fairy tales, but about mature themes.

[It's a fairy tale for troubled times.

It's an adult fairy tale.]

So this is not an escapist fairy tale --

it's a fairy tale that reflects history

and the present with brutal honesty.

[Some of the best minds in our country-]

[peeing all over the floor in this here facility.]

[There's pee freckles on the ceiling!]

[How do they get it up there?]

Del Toro is exposing the fact that many classic fairy tales

are actually pretty disturbing when you look at them closely

Here instead, del Toro is choosing to lean in that darkness and complexity.

Underneath his pristine early 60s setting,

Del Toro is revealing that our nostalgic images of that era

tend to be idealistic fantasies that gloss over the wickedness

and conflict in our country's past.

Meanwhile, Del Toro's showing us that you can talk about these

serious adult themes through beautiful cinematic forms --

imagery that expresses the magic and wonder

that are also part of our lives.

Just because we're all grown up,

our stories don't all have to look like Office Space.

And Del Toro's earnest love of cinema, and what the medium can do,

is evident in every frame.

The director has said that as a kid when he watched

Creature From the Black Lagoon, he was surprised and sad

that the creature didn't get the girl in the end.

[I hoped they'd end up together, but they didn't.]

The Shape of Water‘s joyful interspecies romance makes us

look back at some of those older movies with new eyes.

The film urges us to ask if some of these “monsters†of the past

were actually misunderstood or wrongfully demonized.

So it's sending a larger message about

how marginalized people in our society get villainized

by our collective stories written by the “winners†of history.

[The thing we keep in there, is an affront.]

[And I should know I've dragged that all the way here.]

And the story's subtly empowering those characters who are different,

it's framing them as agents of progress -- on the right side of history.

One pattern we can see in a lot of Oscar-winning movies

is that they often feature characters who refuse to fall in line with

society's expectations.

Even more importantly, those characters surprise us.

They don't fit neatly into the character types and repeat the same clichés

that we might expect going into a movie.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has this suprise quality in spades.

The surprises in Three Billboards come from within people, within ourselves,

and it's thanks to really nuanced performances from Frances McDormand,

Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson that we buy such extreme turnarounds

from these characters in the relatively short length of a movie.

We're surprised that Mildred's badass fury is really a very tender grief.

And we're surprised when we see in flashbacks

that her anger also preceded her daughter's death,

and complicated her ability to show love all along.

[I hope I get raped on the way!]

[I hope you get raped on the way too.]

Chief Willoughby surprises us (and Mildred)

by responding to her personal attack on him with compassion and humor.

[I thought it'd be funny, you having to defend ‘em]

[a whole nuther month after they've stuck me in the ground.]

Meanwhile, Dixon is the biggest surprise of all,

when he proves that underneath the total numbskull,

there's a potentially good person.

[I'm sorry I got your hopes up.]

[It's alright.]

Throughout the film also shocks us in how it uses edgy, daring humor,

which many people feel is one of the best things about it.

[Hey, (bleep)-head!]

[What?]

[Don't say ‘What', Dixon, when she comes in calling you a (bleep)-head.]

The lesson of the film again catches us off guard

in how positive it is -- the glimmer of hope we see

is that the characters are finally learning to be more compassionate

and to accept kindness from those around them.

[Be nice to her, Charlie.

You got that?]

They come to understand that when we fuel our anger,

we end up distancing ourselves from the connections we crave.

Director Martin McDonough named the fictional Missouri town “Ebbing,â€

which makes us think of ebbs and flows,

and in the film we see anger gradually ebbing or receding…

and in its place there's a resurgence of loving kindness.

So both Three Billboards and The Shape of Water

are trying to address the state of our country today,

but they couldn't be more different in the way they go about it.

Three Billboards takes a sharp head-on approach

through incorrect humor and furious characters

driving a confrontational plot.

[This don't put an end to shit, you (bleep) retard,]

[this is just the (bleep) start!]

Meanwhile The Shape of Water is reaching us

almost in the way a dream does --

when we're dreaming, our defenses are down,

and we absorb the meaning of the dream

without understanding everything consciously.

One of the great powers of cinema is that it has the ability

to penetrate us emotionally in the same way.

[You ain't trying to make me believe in reincarnation or something, are ya?]

[Well, you're pretty, but you ain't her.]

Get Out is a masterful social horror

in the tradition of The Stepford Wives and Rosemary's Baby.

It draws on the greatness of those past classics

to produce a wholly original and much needed social commentary for our times.

[Black is in fashion!]

The title comes from an Eddie Murphy comedy bit,

about how a black character would immediately leave a haunted house

as soon as they noticed something was off.

[The black family comes into a haunted house --]

[I think it's Eddie Murphy --]

["These drapes are great."]

["GET OUT!"]

["Too bad we can't stay, baby."]

The implication is that a black person has to be hyper-aware

of the danger in this world just to survive,

whereas the horror genre is built around naive,

blindly trusting characters.

So by putting a black character centerstage

in a horror movie which's dealing with these questions,

Get Out is subtly revolutionizing the genre.

Zadie Smith pointed out that the film

gets a lot of its power from inversions,

which are a strong source of both social insight and comedy.

So from the start, the story inverts the old cliché

of white characters locking their car doors or getting nervous

when they find themselves in a “bad neighborhood†.

Instead, Get Out starts with a black man walking

through a picturesque suburb and we feel the tense...

it's reminding white people that they can be the scary ones.

[When there's too many white people, I get nervous, you know?]

What's so subversive about the film is that

the target of the satire is white liberals.

[By the way, I would've voted for Obama for a 3rd term if I could.]

[The best president in my lifetime, hands down.]

These are people who would be shocked at being called racist,

who probably think of themselves as pretty “woke,â€

[You don't have to give him your ID because you haven't done anything wrong.]

who are the very ones watching this movie and loving it.

[He was saying the joke about ‘I would have voted for Obama three times.']

[The new version of that is ‘I've watched Get Out three times†.]

But the movie's revealing that these same people

might have deeper internalized prejudices that are pretty terrifying.

When it comes down to it, many people are willing to

go to great lengths to preserve their privilege,

no matter what their surface-level politics are.

[Your existence will be as a passenger.]

[An audience.

You will live in… The Sunken Place.]

All of this makes Get Out a landmark film in so many ways.

The most famous LGBTQ love stories to date

tend to have a tragic tone and focus on fighting a homophobic world.

[No...

No...

No!!]

Meanwhile famous heterosexual movie romances

are full of aspirational scenes emphasizing

the beauty and desire of a couple discovering each other.

So what's striking about Call Me By Your Name is

it depicts a relationship between two men

in the style of a classic movie romance --

with joy and luxurious sensuality.

And in doing this, it sends a powerful emotional message that “love is love†.

[Love is love is love is love.]

The romance in Call Me By Your Name is in fact so aspirational

that it's almost an over-the-top bourgeois fantasy.

The leads are both extremely handsome and sophisticated and charming,

spending their summer lounging in this ridiculously beautiful Italian villa.

Call Me By Your Name is set in the 80s, but the setting also feels timeless,

exempt from the forward motion of the rest of the world.

We see this in the way that anthropology and history

are woven into the story...the shots of the ancient statues

are playing up the beauty of the male form,

and they're also subtly recalling a time in history

when it was socially acceptable for a man

to publically take younger male lovers.

[Not a straight body in these statues, they're all curved,]

[Sometimes impossibly curved, and so nonchalant.

[Hence, their ageless ambiguity, as if they're daring you to desire them.]

We escape into this very free, educated community

where everyone speaks multiple languages and is reading all the time.

Or else may be playing the piano, swimming, or eating a salt boiled egg.

It's a kind of temporary idyllic paradise.

A Utopia.

Some people have actually criticized this film for not being political enough --

Director Luca Guadagnino has said,

“I didn't want the audience to find any difference or discrimination

toward these characters.

It was important to me to create this powerful universality.â€

But there may be a deeper, subtly political message

in what Call Me By Your Name doesn't say and in its idealistic quality.

The story is set in the early eighties

which was right around the time the AIDS epidemic was beginning in the U.S.

So it's as if this was a kind of innocent time

when two men could have this kind of relationship,

without having to face the tragedy that was to come soon after.

Guadagnino is planning to make a sequel that picks up in the late 80s

and actually touches on the AIDS epidemic.

So Call Me By Your Name gives us a kind of beautiful calm moment

before any of that -- and we sense that the whole reason

Elio and Oliver can have this joyful relationship is because

they're in the bubble of this open European society,

in the shelter of Elio's accepting parents.

Meanwhile, the obstacles to their relationship

are very much present -- they're just internalized and offscreen.

So by the end we see that this fantasy has to end.

Oliver has to go home and be closeted again

because he believes that he must.

Most of all it's truly in the universality of the romance

that Call Me By Your Name sends its biggest message --

it's a coming of age story that anyone can relate to.

It's about Elio's sentimental education,

and how he learns that both pleasure and pain make life worth living --

and by the end we feel like we've learned these lessons first hand with him.

[Our hearts and our bodies are given to us only once.]

[And before you know it, your heart's worn out.]

Next up, stay tuned for part II, where we analyze

what's most striking and innovative about the rest of the

best picture nominees.

Oscars 2018: What to Know About Lady Bird, The Post, Dunkirk, Darkest Hour & Phantom Thread - Duration: 12:52.

In our last video we looked at what's most compelling

about The Shape of Water, Three Billboards, Get Out,

and Call Me by Your Name.

So now let's talk about the rest of

the 2018 Best Picture nominees.

Before we go on, be sure to hit subscribe

and click the bell to get notifications on all of our new videos.

Lady Bird reinvigorates the teen coming-of-age comedy --

on the one hand it descends from 80s

John Hughes movies like Pretty in Pink,

and Cameron Crowe's Say Anything...

"My name's Lady Bird."

"It's weird to shake hands."

"Yeah."

On the other hand its determined individualism reminds us

of quirky high-brow high school movies

like Rushmore and Submarine.

"Lady Bird."

"Is that your given name?"

"Yeah."

"Why is it in quotes?"

"Well, I gave it to myself.

It's given to me, by me."

Director Greta Gerwig has also cited

a mix of other less obvious influences,

like Federico Fellini's Amarcord,

which is about remembering youth,

Brian De Palma's Carrie, a slightly more terrifying

view of high school,

and Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows,

the French New Wave film about

spirited boy Antoine Doinel.

So the result of these various textures is

a shot of new energy into the female teen story.

"[Screams]"

Coming of age stories about a young woman often end

with her finding romance or being socially accepted.

But we see Lady Bird go through two romances

that are disappointing and not profound

like she expectst them to be.

"You're going to have so much un-special sex

in your life."

"I was on top.

Who the [bleep] is on top

their first time?"

A teen girl not being defined by her romantic relationships

definitely resonates in today's day and age.

Unlike most other teen movies, Lady Bird actually

gets into class issues --

"Why did you say it was your house?"

"I wished I lived in that house."

another way that it makes us think of Pretty in Pink.

"Where did you get your clothes,

at a five and dime store?"

Lady Bird feels inferior to her rich classmates.

She strives to be friends with the popular girl

and go to prom with a cool guy --

but these classic 80s teen movie desires

turn out to be hollow and unfulfilling.

Rhis film is about the importance of developing

and protecting your individual identity.

"People call each other by names that their parents

made up for them,

but they won't believe in God."

But Lady Bird's fierce will to be herself

is only part of the picture.

She's trying so hard to be this cool "different" person

that she has to stop rejecting

the less exceptional, exciting parts of herself.

To be Lady Bird, she doesn't have to

reject "Christine."

Just because she wants to try New York,

she doesn't have to hate Sacramento.

"You clearly love Sacramento."

"I do."

So the end the film shows Lady Bird learning to appreciate things

she's written off while waiting for this more glamorous life.

And this is the story's key lesson --

that it's important to honor our pasts and our backgrounds,

even if we do have bigger dreams for ourselves.

Over time as we look back, we realize those things

mattered more than we might have realized then.

"That was leaked out the Pentagon?"

"The most highly classified document of the war."

Steven Spielberg's The Post is an investigation

into what "truth" is.

The lesson in this story is that even though

it's hard to be objective,

we have to strive to understand the truth

and do the objectively right thing.

So ultimately the movie it's a rebuttal

of the "alternative facts" era

we find ourselves in right now.

"The way they lied...those days have to be over."

Spielberg has said that he's "a believer in only one truth,

which is the objective truth."

"The truth has to be the truth, you know.

It has to be an objective truth;

it can't be a truth with an agenda."

But the story ends up showing how easily moral principles

and personal factors get all tangled up --

what's interesting is that it makes the point

that this intermingling of objective right

and private feelings can be either for worse,

or for better.

Of course, Nixon is the negative example of what happens

when someone lets personal motivations

overtake their integrity and responsibility

to serve the people.

On the other end of the spectrum is Kay Graham,

who's become publisher of the Washington Post

in place of her late husband.

Kay faces a dilemma of personal loyalties

when it's revealed that her friend Robert McNamara

gave the public misleading information

about Vietnam.

"The man who commissioned this study --"

"I am not protecting him --"

"Is one of about a dozen party guests ouside

on your patio."

"I'm not protecting any of them.

I'm protecting the paper."

Kay makes her personal background

a positive influence on her actions --

In her role on the Post, she feels under some scrutiny

because she's often the only woman in the room.

"People are concerned that having a woman

in charge of the paper,

that she doesn't have the resolve

to make the tough choices."

"Thank you, Arthur, for your frankness."

She needs to prove to the world at large that publishing

should include leaders of her gender.

So it's even more urgent and important that she does

the right, and difficult, thing.

"We could all go to prison."

Thus her personal bias helps her to make the right choice.

Personal factors inevitably inform our lives

and shape how we feel about things.

The Post says we can make this a good thing

if we're committed to values that really matter,

and remember that the truth is always the truth.

"So, we dig in."

Many people believe that Dunkirk is Christopher Nolan's

best film.

Arguably, it leaves out his more frustrating trademarks

and showcases his best.

Nolan's films often feature a puzzle-like plot,

exposition-heavy dialogue,

"Remember, you are the dreamer,

you built this world.

I am the subject, my mind populates it."

an ambiguous ending,

and a long running time.

Dunkirk cuts out those elements

but maintains fundamental Nolan-isms

like the nonlinear structure that plays with time.

The film's triptych narrative is set in three locations

and three temporalities --

the events on land take place over a week,

the ones on sea over a day,

and the ones in the air over just an hour.

It's one of the most inventive, interesting structures

Nolan's ever experimented with, up there with Memento.

Dunkirk also reimagines the war movie,

starting with its whole premise.

This isn't a film about a battle --

it's about an evacuation.

And as Winston Churchill once said,

"Wars are not won by evacuations."

The victory at the end isn't so triumphant and definitive

as besting the opponent;

it's just getting home at all.

"All we did is survive."

"That's enough."

According to Nolan, this is more a survival story

than a war film,

and that's why he includes movies like Alien and Speed

among his inspirations.

Finally, Dunkirk has gotten a lot of attention

for how vivid and visceral it feels.

It's almost like a virtual reality experience.

"The immersive quality of the image is second to none.

We really try and create the sensation that I would describe

as virtual reality without the goggles."

In classic Nolan style, the director chose

to use a lot of real boats and planes

and thousands of extras instead of depending mostly

on digital effects.

So this makes us feel like

we're traveling into the past,

but we're going into a particular piece of the past

that we haven't really seen much before onscreen.

"Order!"

Darkest Hour could be seen as a companion piece

to Dunkirk.

Both feature the Dunkirk evacuation

but from different standpoints:

one is on the battlefield,

the other's more in the war room.

"We shall fight in France."

"We shall fight on the seas and oceans."

"we shall fight with growing confidence

and growing strength in the air."

"we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be."

But both films use history to slyly comment

on the present.

We seem to find ourselves looking back at Winston Churchill

a lot these days.

Modern depictions tend to emphasize

the legendary Prime Minister's quirks

and periods of unpopularity.

The best historical fiction onscreen today takes care

to diligently report the unglamorous or ugly truths

that used to get glossed over.

And these days, we like to focus on less obvious

or known histories.

But underneath these trappings of historical accuracy

and a critical viewpoint,

in these stories about Churchill there's also a nostalgia

a longing for a leader with character.

"Is France lost?"

Some might fear that today is one of the UK's darkest hours

as they prepare for Brexit.

Darkest Hour shows that when you fear for your country,

you look back to the past for answers.

"I believe I can boil an egg,

but only because I've seen it done."

Also like Dunkirk, Darkest Hour highlights the importance

and influence of everyday civilians.

"He was falling back on Dunkirk,

but he never made it."

Churchill get inspired by his young secretary

and people he meets on the tube.

And they're a bit part of why he continues

to fight against Nazi Germany

instead of entering peace negotiations.

"Fight."

"Fight the fascists."

"Fight them with whatever we can lay our hands on."

"Broom handles if we must!"

"Street by street!"

"They'll never take Picadilly."

So the film is telling us that everyday people like this

have the power to influence the direction of their country,

and they can wield that power for better or for worse.

It's saying that it's up to us to shape history

and fight as hard as possible to ensure

that we come out on the other side

of our "darkest hours."

So much of romance is told through either

romantic comedy or melodrama --

it tends to hinge on the happy ending or the tragedy

of two people not ending up together.

Yet Phantom Thread belongs to a rich, rarer genre --

it's a romance with suspense, almost a romantic thriller.

Its DNA in this respect comes from

one of Paul Thomas Anderson's biggest influences

in making it, Hitchcock's Rebecca.

Like Rebecca, this is about a love story between

an established older man and a younger ingenue --

it's a romance with ghosts --

in Rebecca, that ghost is the late wife, Rebecca;

here that ghost is Reynolds Woodcock's mother --

it's a romance that surprises us when the ingenue

turns out to be stronger than she appears --

"If you want to have a staring contest with me,

you will lose."

and it surprises us when something warm and alive grows out

of a dark, claustrophobic and strange environment.

Reynolds's sister Cyril is even a twist

on Rebecca's Mrs. Danvers --

but she's updated with a positive sense of self.

"I don't want your cloud on my head --"

"Shut up, Cyril."

"Oh, you can shut right up.

Don't pick a fight with me, you certainly

won't come out alive."

Phantom Thread's weirdness is really

love's weirdness.

The story shows the strange satisfaction we might take

in our partner becoming weak, sick, needing us.

"Is it because you think I don't need you?"

"Yes."

"I don't."

"Why, that's very predictable of you."

It reveals how relationships are a kind of back-and-forth,

a wrestling match to dominate on some level.

Alma might compromise, perhaps, but she refuses

to ever be beaten.

And likewise the actress playing her, Vicky Krieps

holds her own against the formidable Daniel-Day Lewis.

"Maybe I like my own taste."

"Yes, it's just enough to get you into trouble."

"Perhaps I'm looking for trouble."

"Stop!"

Phantom Thread is also the story of

the obsessive artist --

revealing that artist to be a selfish compulsive brat.

"The tea is going out, the interruption is staying

right here with me."

But it also shows fondness for his pursuit of perfection

and the way that he is his art.

Reynolds' partnership with Alma works because she, too,

understands that his work is everything,

that every piece, every garment must be treated

with respect, even with reverence.

Overall, the 2018 Best Picture nominees

Naruto: The Story You Never Knew - Duration: 15:33.

There are things in this world that people love to hate, and things that people hate

to love.

This is a natural phenomenon, just another symptom of being a human.

I too have been a hater, and have been dabbed upon thusly.

At some point in my life, (perhaps it was when my frontal lobe finally finished developing

and I stopped being an idiot) I decided to begin to form my opinions through the lens

of experience.

To dive into the things that made me cringe.

To try and find out what it is that makes people love - that which I despised.

I haven't always been successful, NAY, I watched three out of four twilight movies and had

to take one of those detox supplements and void my insides so i could feel like a person

again.

But within my many judgements there have been some golden nuggets of art that I found I

was missing out on.

Tv, movies, and games that could have improved my existence that I disliked simply because

I was being a douchenozzel.

One such piece of media took me until my early twenties to finally get around to viewing.

You see sometimes things are just bad, but other times the fandom is 100% to blame for

the negative outlook on a franchise.

As a child in halls of my highschool I would hear them...

The weeabos.

I would hide in the bathroom stall clutching my backpack as they shouted RASENGAN!

I would be late to class for fear of getting run over by someone in a headband charging

down the hall with their arms stretched out behind them.

Hell I couldn't go into hot topic without getting a nosebleed for a good 3 years.

But one day I got curious.

What is this THING that made all of these people come together and act like weirdos

in public?

What is this STORY that has so many people engrossed to the point that they would change

their outer appearance and entire life style to emulate it?

Is it perhaps... good?

And more importantly do I have something to say about it that no one has said before?

YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT, YOU KNOW?

Hailed as one of the longest running and most critically acclaimed shonen manga and anime

series of all time, with a cast of characters longer than liam neeson's third leg; it's

taken some digging but it's now time.

It is NARUTO NARUTO UZUMAKI, BELIEVE IT!

SO JOIN ME for story of loneliness and isolation, a narrative of struggle, personal differences,

loss and achievement.

So grab your ninja headband, grab your kunai and a big ol bowl of ichiraku miso ramen with

extra chasu or "cha soo" however you wanna pronounce it).

And prepare yourself for an epic!

About a young boy lost and alone and his rise to the top.

This is naruto uzumaki's story, the story YOU never knew dattebayo

This is naruto as we see him in episode 1.

Nobody likes him at all, he's pretty dumb and more cringy than mommy make-out day.

Think of the kid who ate his own boogers every day in bio class: that's naruto.

the kid basically does nothing but cause trouble.

Initially, that's all we know, and to the show's detriment, the first couple of episodes

are pretty hard to get through going in blind.

However, it's supposed to be like this.

The show introduces you to naruto in a way which makes you sympathize with everyone who

hates him, then yanks your heart strings .You see, Naruto is an orphan.

His mother and father were killed when he was a baby and he has grown up entirely alone.

Instead of being given to another family, Naruto was a shinobi "ward of the state" he

was cared for and raised by the government of the hidden leaf, never having any family

to really call his own.

To make matters worse the other children's parents won't even let their kids play with

him.

Naruto spends all of his time by himself, not knowing what he did to deserve his treatment.

We later find out that Naruto is a jinchuuriki essentially a human weapon.

Being a jinchuuriki means sharing a body with a tailed beast of immense power, and Naruto

houses a particularly mean and powerful one known as the ninetails (or kurama).

This monster nearly destroyed naruto's home on the day he was born.

Kurama was sealed inside Naruto to protect the Leaf, but this caused the adults to hate

and fear him.

This little detail wasn't shared with Naruto, so he grew up in the dark wondering everyday

why nobody would play with him.

This kind of social isolation is detrimental to anyone's psyche.

Humans are pack animals, we NEED to have bonds in order to live full healthy lives.

Due to their ignorance and fear the adults of the hidden leaf forced Naruto to live out

many of his formative years in isolation.

Now loneliness is no joke, I'm sure you've felt it before.

The crushing feelings of boredom and anxiety, the need to be with other people, if not only

just to talk.

But extreme isolation can wreak havoc on the mentality of a human being, driving completely

normal people insane.

There are accounts of prisoners and people who volunteered for experiments in isolation.

These experiences have caused noticeable trauma within 24-48 hours of complete isolation;

ranging from panic attacks to aural and visual hallucinations.

Exactly why this happens is unknown, but there are people who have combatted their loss of

sanity for periods of up to ten years or more by coming up with a goal.

According to michael bond, (a reporter for BBC) a man who was imprisoned in solitary

confinement for 10 years for refusing to develop nuclear weapons for saddam hussein kept himself

sane by doing math problems all day every day.

This kind of mental dedication is also what saved Naruto Uzumaki.

Instead of losing himself, Naruto dedicated himself to a singular goal- becoming the Hokage!

(or leader of the hidden leaf) Believe it!

The rest of the series follows him on that journey, but that's the story you know, so

what about this whole story you didn't know?

Well what if I told you Naruto isn't so much of a character as an idea?

Besides the incredible cultural aspects, the excellent animation and action, and the deeply

interesting world design; Part of what makes the series so great is the character development

that goes on within it.

There are multiple themes that take place recurrently throughout, but the cast was developed

in a way to MAKE you attach yourself to the show, centered around the concept of Naruto.

You see, life is complicated, but it is only that way because we too are complicated.

Human beings still haven't not found the "reason" for existence.

Sure, I mean there's a lot of theories out there, but why we're here and what we're supposed

to do is a mystery.

A human life is short, and we start to shrivel away shortly after we're halfway through,

but many people don't even make it that far.

From the day we come into this world we're told stories of people who achieved great

things, people who changed the world, and I think for a lot of us it makes us want to

do the same.

Even if you don't want to change the world, you probably still have a dream, and wouldn't

it be amazing if you could achieve it?

Part of what makes naruto so relatable is the struggles he goes through EMOTIONALLY.

The only thing narratively better than a hero- is an underdog hero.

Someone who comes from nothing, someone like you and me, who rises to the top and achieves

their goals.

It makes us FEEL good to see someone succeed (when we think they deserve it) and because

of that, the writers gave naruto a pure heart, much like goku or luffy.

It's the rest of the cast though, that completes the puzzle.

Unlike most stories naruto has upwards of 20 characters you could consider "main characters"

each of them speak directly to different aspects of our personalities.

And like you and I they gravitate towards naruto eventually because of what he represents.

Sakura shows what it's like for those of us who always feel like we're left behind, and

what it's like to realize how needed you are despite how you view yourself.

Sasuke speaks to the anger inside of us over the injustices in the world, the things we

can't or couldn't stop.

He teaches us that sometimes we can't control everything and simply need help from time

to time.

Shikimaru is gifted, but lazy and directionless, but it's more of a fear of trying than simply

not wanting to, this fear has held us all back before, I guarantee it.

We could easily make a story you never knew on any of these characters, not only because

they're deep, but because they're individuals with full character arcs; just as long and

as in-depth as naruto's.

Even choji's ark goes so far as to speak to those with body image issues, and shows that

a beautiful personality has no bearing on appearance.

Teacher student relationships, father son and father daughter relationships, it's all

here alongside the gory ninja battles and kaiju fights.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of anime tropes in Naruto, theres a lot of filler episodes

and ramen memes, but there's simply nothing here to hate.

I understand now why so many kids became engrossed with the series during the mid 2000's.

It's hard being a kid and everyone's life is different.

There's so much to get attached to and so many characters to live vicariously through

in this anime.

Not only did those kids find a piece of entertainment which spoke to them personally, but they also

took the extra step to go out into the world and find other people that shared their interests.

They took the step to make bonds, so that they wouldn't be alone anymore either.

However they still shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

Anyway!

Liking naruto doesn't make you a weeabo, -disrespecting japanese culture by emulating

it in an exaggerated or insulting way makes you a weeabo.

Telling people you're japanese and speaking the language wrong makes you a weeabo.

Liking naruto makes you human, because naruto is human, because naruto is based on you.

If you take a second to think about it, we've all had similar experiences.

There have been times were we simply didn't belong, no matter how hard we wanted to or

how hard we tried.

There were times where we thought we had no friends, nobody to talk to, or that no one

could relate to us.

We've all lost people in our lives that were special, teachers, friends, parents, pets.

Maybe that's happening to you right now.

But that's life, it's a series of ups and downs, there is no steady incline towards

the top.

Nobody can ever achieve perfect happiness, and that's a good thing.

Without the valleys there wouldn't be any peaks to excite you as you looked out over

the horizon.

Naruto teaches us that it's okay to be flawed, it's okay to be a loser, because as long as

you never give up you can at least find someone who can stand beside you on top of those peaks

as; long as you stay true to yourself yo.

Stay true to yourself and never stop pushing to be better, more well-rounded, more skilled,

more kind.

Because happiness is a by-product of a meaningful life, not a goal in and of itself.

You can "try" to be happy but you'll find it doesn't work.

So if you look at Naruto, his loneliness, and his eventual triumphs you'll see that

his best moments that made his misery worth it were all a payoff from training, fighting,

loneliness and the misery they put him through.

His happiness spilled out of the moment, he wasn't chasing it.

He chose to stay true to his ninja way instead of trying to be someone he wasn't.

Rather than try so hard for sweet, sweet acceptance, he looked within and forged the uncharted

path of being himself and doing what he said he was going to do.

By doing this he was not only accepted, but admired and respected.

We all want deep down to be ourselves, and let that nature shine.

When we see someone who has gained that ability we naturally gravitate towards them, like

naruto's peers, and us too, in the audience.

However, keep in mind that for you to be yourself, means others too are allowed the same right,

even if it makes you cringe or offends you.

Cause honestly, you probably offend lots of people, just being you.

But just because you suck, and other people suck, doesn't mean you can't understand

each other, it just means you have common ground!

Mutual understanding can happen, because there is growth to be achieved from different perspectives.

There is always room for dialogue and constructive criticism that can ultimately take you in

directions you never would have seen and into the best version of yourself.

Safe to say the other characters rubbed off on Naruto on his way to becoming a beast.

Even though his journey was his own.

That being said, just because you're listening and understanding, doesn't make the other

person right, or make you obligated to change, but it is a sign of the respect we all deserve

for living on this shitty planet.

Maybe, just maybe that's why I hated naruto so much way back then, maybe it was because

I was unhappy and I saw a group of people enjoying themselves and truly not caring about

everyone breaking their necks from cringing so hard.

I just didn't understand where they were coming from.

So before you yourself get dabbethed upon, maybe take a look at what you're hating on?

And that's the

story YOU never knew.

And...that's my take on Naruto!

This was our first time covering the series so let me know down below if you want us to

cover it again!

...In more depth.

This one didn't go into the story much but there's already so many great videos doing

just that.

That being said, if there's enough love for Naruto or any of the characters we won't

hesitate to cover it.

I'm Grant!

And I hope you liked the video.

If you wanna see more Treesicle anime content then why not watch The REAL TRUTH of Almight

from My Hero Academia?

Ryan does a great job in that one.

It gets heavy man.

Last but not least, subscribleejggn and hit that bell so you get notified as soon as we

post a video.

I'm biased...but I'd recommend it.

That's all I got for today...bye everyone!

While the Media Was Looking the Other Way, Trump Knocked 3 Big Wins Out of the Park This Week. - Duration: 4:17.

While the Media Was Looking the Other Way, Trump Knocked 3 Big Wins Out of the Park This

Week.

If you only listen to the mainstream media, the last week of news has been dominated by

two events: the gun control controversy and yet another staff shakeup at the White House.

As is often the case, there is a lot more going on than the shouting headlines suggest

which is a pretty good reason to not listen exclusively to the left-leaning press.

While the media has obsessed over guns and an Oval Office insider most people hadn't

heard of until this month, the Trump administration has actually had some pretty solid "wins"

that went unnoticed by the network talking heads.

As Politico Magazine journalist Danny Vinik reported, these policy changes could have

big implications for the direction of the country, even if they aren't making front

page news.

Here are three of them, in no particular order.

The EPA Backs Down

The Trump White House scored a major win when it came to rolling back an Obama-era regulation

within the Environmental Protection Agency.

A rule pushed by environmentalists during the last administration had strict time limits

for fixing methane leaks from oil and gas wells, but experts within the energy industry

said the regulations were overly harsh and hurt oil and gas production.

"This week, the EPA sided with industry, giving oil and gas companies up to two years

to fix methane leaks and eliminating a requirement that forced them to fix leaks during emergency

or unscheduled shutdowns," Politico explained.

Detected leaks will still be repaired, just on a time-table that is more realistic than

the previously stringent guidelines.

"Under the new proposal, operators must repair leaks during the next scheduled shutdown

or within two years, whichever is sooner," the news magazine continued.

Charter Schools Get a Boost

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is a Cabinet member who liberals love to hate.

She came under harsh and often personally insulting scrutiny during her confirmation

process, largely because the left saw her as a wealthy socialite who was merely "playing

teacher."

Now she's the one schooling liberals.

"In the past year, DeVos has clearly figured out how to use the levers of power in her

department, rolling back Obama-era regulations and policies on everything from for-profit

colleges to campus sexual assault," wrote Vinik.

One of the biggest DeVos-led "wins" came this past week, when the Department of Education

formally announced that it would be focusing on and channeling funding to competitive charter

schools and STEM programs instead of vague social justice.

"It's a major shift from the priorities under DeVos' predecessor, John King, which

focused on socioeconomic diversity in schools," explained Politico.

Giving parents options to escape failing school systems and making sure students are prepared

to enter well-paying, tech-heavy career fields?

That definitely sounds like a conservative victory.

Mexican Trade Deals Move Forward

Donald Trump was particularly critical of NAFTA during his campaign, and pledged to

re-vamp the agreement to make it more beneficial for U.S. companies and America as a whole.

It hasn't been a fast process, but the administration is steadily moving forward on this promise.

"In Mexico City this week, the U.S., Mexico and Canada continued to negotiate reforms

to the North American Free Trade Agreement, a slow process that continues to hit roadblocks,

particularly on how much of a car needs to be made in North America to qualify for preferential

tariffs," Politico reported.

This topic may not get as much focus as other Mexico-centered issues like the wall and immigration

reform, but NAFTA is a key part of the North American economy, and even slow progress on

improving the treaty is better than nothing.

As he has already shown on tax reform, the president is actually fairly adept at letting

the media ruffle its feathers and squawk about the latest controversy, while the "Make

America Great Again" agenda steadily moves ahead.

It turns out that there's more than meets the eye at the Trump White House.

What do you think about this?

using today is the Urban Decay all nighter another yeah well right now I'm

gonna go back here with this same brush I'm blowing them out because I actually

haven't fetched over my vehicle under at all now in case anyone was wondering

when my birthday is 29 but holler at you girl and yeah I'm

so excited literally I cannot contain my 7 I feel

would be one of them people though that psychic site for the birthday why does

that mean my nose looks so big and now I'm gonna take and this brush it just a

little bit smaller and I'm just gonna blend out my concealer because I want

this to be more precise and obviously Oh courage under these isolated girl

didn't get no sleep last night as per usual I'm gonna do something a lot

different my makeup today I think I'm gonna go like her palms I don't think

I've done purples before or if I have I haven't really dedicated a video to it

now I'm gonna take my curly aspen found a foundation loose powder and which I

got Amazon because you can't actually get it here in the UK top some into the

lip this smells so good but it smells like something my grandma would wear

like probably from anything I really like this smell so maybe I just let my

gone real slow I brought my scent I don't know I don't

know really why is it not coming out

hope you do is gonna hit this and we'll just cut up

doing all that hard right at my eye I

just thought that said my face feel about an ominous gonna blend it in with

a big powder brush and I've actually got it in my eye now as you can see we're

all one color and I basically blend into the wall gonna go in with the models own

sculpting color palette I'm gonna take this to bronze up and want my face I'm

gonna go in with an old favorite that I used to always use and that's the Real

Techniques blush brush I used to use this all the time for my prom like a

speak today the my camera just cut off so now the lion a little bit that was

what about so obviously you guys know literally every tutorial I mainly start

my house I was on yeah well a lot of you guys recently know is that my eyebrows

aren't actually eyebrows because they dropped at and my eyebrows decided my

Felicia and they left my face now I'm gonna move on to highlighter so the

highlighter that I'm gonna use is empty open to Kate Kristen Leon collaboration

I've got this when I went to the benefit event and I've been dying to use ur but

I wanted to do it like in a tutorial of like first impressions but yeah I just

didn't want to tell not to do it but I really want to use this so I'm gonna

feature in this this is what the packaging looks like and it's so pretty

literally that's my cup of tea and okay so on the package in this actually look

really dark so I was like I don't think that's know much but I could get rid of

all three of them shades whoa um I'm liking this already I think I'm just

gonna dip in these two colors because I'm not actually that like talent but I

could definitely get away with this and but who's gonna stick with

these two colors just for today okay okay Kristen Liam huh

look literally what the heck this is so pretty okay

I'm obsessed look at all before anybody asks I didn't do it myself

I have not done anything to my eyebrows I had so many questions on one of my

previous videos about was what has happened to my arrows so I'm just gonna

explain it and certain oh I've not done anything to my own eyebrows plucked them

I haven't waxed them I don't do that I haven't done that since I was about 12

13 maybe and and it always just naturally like been quite sparse and

quite light has never really been a lot of hair there but like recently

everybody has noticed that they've literally just disappeared so me and my

mom did some brow saying looking through Walthers

and it was fine my eyebrows are fine in November gonna find December up until

the pine after my crash so me and my mom have come to the conclusion and there

because I go to loads of research as well that is due to the trauma of my

crash and stress and stress causes our hormone imbalance as well which can

trigger hair loss and most commonly in your eyebrows my hair is also thinned

out so much my hair used to be so much thicker and it's really not anymore

so me and my mom have put it down to the fact that after my crash obviously the

whole shock the trauma from there the constant worry and also the stress and

the worry of school and all the schoolwork that I had because I did have

quite a lot of work at that time so that's when we put it down to I recently

have started putting coconut oil on my eyebrows as I go to bed or in the

morning if I'm not doing anything that day and I've been like curving through

my eyebrows I've been massaged a massage know a little

and I've really really been trying not to be refer them at all and they are

starting to grow back I can see improvements already from four earths

could have been taken further every single day and so I can see the

progression of my eyebrows and where they are actually growing back from and

I further so it is definitely that they've fallen out because of stress and

trauma and things about we've researched it there was no point was going to the

doctors we were going to go to the doctors only if they didn't grow back

completely but they do seem to be going back so that is kind of the only thing

that can be down to I do hope as well I do go back to normal because having no

eyebrows isn't fun whatsoever so that's the story about my eyebrows and that's

pretty much it nothing really too interesting but a lot

of you guys have been asking so I just wanted to tell you and I wanted to clear

the space so now I'm gonna go in with blush and I'm taking my benefit

rockatuer blush and I'm just gonna take this brush here from a coconut mint as

well I'm gonna run it back now I'm gonna move on to you my eyes of course and I'm

gonna go in with my makeup geek eyeshadows I haven't used these in a

long time Eva and I remember everyone used to be like the biggest fan of

makeup geek literally everybody know like ever talks about them anymore so I

want to bring that back as I say I think I'm gonna do like a purpley pink look

today so yeah let's see how that goes so that soon I'm taking his Peach

Smoothie which is this one here I was taking this on a blending brush and I'm

just blending it from my crease

I was gonna take that underneath of it it's already starting to fancy to our

got that pins and needles you know anybody have up in the needles

where when you move your foot that's when it tingles because that's

why I've got the moment I don't wanna move up like when it touches something

it hurt oh it's tingling like my leg oh this is

not good and do it by me know what pins and needles actually is because I don't

now I'm gonna take this shit cupcake which is this one here other climbers

into my crews as well and blowing it up and out into color that we already have

I'm also gonna fit that under there I really don't know I'm gonna do I've got

these I'm Bobby Emma which are very simple see why I just went dark again

hey they're very similar to obviously the Steeler magnificent metals and I

think the design could be like them so I really want to use one of them and I've

got one that's in like a pinky purple shade and this one here and this elite

should Stardust so I kind of want to use that and I don't know where you can see

it but yeah it's kind of what I want to do so taking this shade here which is

called curfew I'm gonna pack it on like my altar oh wow that's bright

they are illegal and now I'm just gonna go back in with that other person that

we used to further blend everything together I'm gonna go in with this

shimmery shade here which is called daydreamer and I'm just gonna pack this

on my lid it doesn't really matter how pigmented it goes because we're gonna

put the holographic topper over in the shade Stardust I just realized this

holes you told will I've been really zoomed out I apologize if none of you

could see what was going on now I'm gonna go in with this topper so let me

open it up why did they do this to the package in it's so hard to get into why

away alright so I'm really excited to use this look pretty

brush is a bit like close to the thing oh okay

there we go see now I don't think this camera is actually picking up like the

true color so I'm taking at the Urban Decay all nighter setting spray I'm just

gonna shake it and spray it and now I'm gonna go in with the Maybelline New York

the colossal Big Shot mascara I'm just quickly on a highlight my inner corner

so now I'm gonna take these lashes these aren't Lily lashes but the Orinda Lula

she's box oh we do it knows who you are because I

just don't know I don't I feel like they're not but then I also don't know

so they're even though the lashes on the arm and if they are Lily lashes then

they're in the sound looks if they're not Lily washes then I don't know what

they are also actually I forgot to see it earlier is it anybody else's birthday

in March comment down below when your birth tears

if it's a March because we share the same birthday mom

okay so we're gonna have to ignore how badly applied this washes the finally

moving on to lips I'm gonna take this lipstick here and I believe this is very

marvelous don't really know I got this a while ago

it's in the shoot cherry blossom which is five seven seven and it's just in

this shit here which I think will compliment really nicely because it's

nude and I don't really good too big on the

purple so yeah so this is the finished look and I am absolutely obsessed with

the color on the eyes so Barry M you have done me proud I am absolutely

obsessed with this color and I'm excited to use it you know my three shades that

you sent me so I am in love with this and thank you so much for sending out to

#AskWim | How to deal with frostbite? - Duration: 1:54.

First of all, I want to thank the community for asking questions.

An inquisitive mind

Makes the darkness of ignorance go away.

Frostbite is cell damage.

You've got first degree, secondary degree and third degree

Third degree has gone irreparable cell damage.

You're very able with the breathing to heal that.

Make an estimate of how long you can go into the cold.

And don't exceed!

Don't force the body.

I know by experience.

My left foot

Where the dermatologist told me

This is irreparable cell damage, over here and there

And in a few months it's gonna be necrosis.

And it's gonna be cut off, but no, it wasn't.

So I began to breathe

And it took me a month and a half to heal the foot.

I mean it really looked not nice.

Purple, blue, green...

And then, slowly to orange, red, pink again.

And now look at my little feet-y!

GraFEET-y

And if you've got frostbite

Then breathe.

Go into the breathing.

And learn to control the amount of cold exposure you go into.

You are able to do that very well!

Jovem Aprendiz e Estágio no banco Santander - Duration: 10:00.

How to register for youth apprentice at Santander bank?

This is what I show you.

[music]

Another possibility for you to get an apprentice vacancy in banks

is in Santander. A great bank and well in the market here in the

Brazil and also in the world. Come on then, I'll show you the

way here on the screen. This is a page, class, that I go

leave the link for you, then "description of the video". You can click

there and make that way. OK? But anyway, here is the bank's homepage and if you

going down you will find something very interesting. I'm coming down with you ...

and you will find it here: "Work with us".

But it's important that you realize that information that is on this page

initial information, you have to know.

After all, one of the questions that is very likely that you will face in the

process is: "What you know about our institution? "And then these

information that is on this page, you practically will have to have memorized.

Understood? So, warned of that, let's move on. You click here, under "Work with us", here

in red, you will fall on that page.

This page talks about the possibilities. Is that you

coming down a little more, I I'll try to be very fast,

you have here, at first the opportunity of internship.

Let's talk about internship because if young can not enter as an apprentice

can enter as an intern. but in the case of Santander, the

internships are for who is at the top level,

that is, who attends a college or university.

I'm going down to show you.

But even for those who to be an apprentice this is important

the information that is here. OK? Notice, down here, where you already

has three possibilities to enter the bank.

The first one as an employee, second as a trainee, which is what I'm talking about with you.

and what matters to us, the third, as a young apprentice. But your self seek

more information, come here at "learn more", about internship

I'll find information that will also serve as a young apprentice.

Let's start first just for that. which is for the trainee. Here goes

explain to you, or to the person who the internship, what is the purpose of

stage for the bank because they do this, finally the whole matter of describing

for you the why they have this project.

Coming down a little, class, you will have the prerequisites.

So for internship, it is not for apprentice, for stage, they will ask you to be

in the third semester of graduation or college that means after one year

and a half you can already sign up. Depending on they may consider 3rd

semester as one who entered the third semester.

So try to put the resume and we'll see what happens. And there they ask for good ones too.

knowledge of English, Spanish and knowledge of the office package. Word,

Windows, PowerPoint and so on. Can participate who is attending

administration, human resources, systems information, here I am

for you, show all courses of a college that allows you to do

part of the internship process at Santander. What matters so much to the

trainee as well as young apprentice this page? These are the stages of the process.

That's why it's important to watch this entire video.

So that you can see the details that times are not on your page but are in a

previous page. Understood? Is it the case that I told you that you have

memorize that information to go well in the interview and now you know

It's probably going to be yours. selective process.

So realize ... the process steps selective for stage will consist of

you register here online, then tests that are done with

you. Some tests, class, are done by phone.

Your phone rings and they start to ask questions.

to get you sort of off guard. It may also be that they do this process

through video conferencing. So you're not going to the agency. An

video conference that will be made. AND at other times it is done

literally a face-to-face meeting in which will have dynamics, an interview and

there it goes. But notice that below, comes the question

of what I had told you. An interview with the consultancy. But notice

that the previous conversation might have been a pre-talk to

see who is the person who has a posture correct, a person who behaves correctly

and so on. So maybe you face three interviews.

"But teacher, which one is right?" No way to know! If a year they

made in your city, or in the agency near your home, in a way

probably next time they will to change. So that the young man is not

set or prepare for that step and show something that is not true. So, they always try

make a surprise. But these methods that I told you are the main ones.

Another way to test the youngster is to send an online test What I already

I said in a previous video, that I'm going leave the link at the end of this. OK.

At the end of this video will have the "Bye", a song and then I'll leave a cover

of a video that is: "How to be a young apprentice in a bank. Click on it you will have

interesting information about of this subject.

Then maybe three interviews or, suddenly, in a different way. But one

will be with the consultancy, the company responsible for carrying out the

for them. This company will filter and will send some young people

trainees for a conversation with the manager or the unit manager. Understood?

If you click here: "Trainee" "Make your subscription ",

you will go to a page that shows opportunities. OK?

It will cut the screen a little for you, I do not have much like avoiding, but you already see that

are some opportunities. Here are opportunities for São Paulo

which are ending today. And you see that ends today, ends today, ends today.

But it's not just Sao Paulo. There is one here, for for example, that I perceive,

is for Goiânia. But the class still has ten days to apply.

Then realize. It is always good to enter, check what they have and what they do not have.

In addition to the registration, constantly have opportunities

Sometimes what they want is for you to sign up, and then they expect you

always go to the bank page and see if an opportunity arose.

Checking the internship issue. In not stage! YOUNG APPRENTICE! Recalls that

here, these three opportunities or ways to get you into the bank?

If you come here, in "Young Apprentice", "Make Your Application"

you will go to this Santander page.

Here you put your data. You are not going to be able to register quickly.

At least one hour to register. You will have to have

address, phone, they ask for landline, okay. Phone, email, number of documents ...

Then leave the documents separated in the time to do And, finally, a series of

information they will ask you will have that put. Do it well done. Take time

When are you going to register for You really can do something right.

that will draw the attention of who is recruiting, who will send the

curriculum, or people who are classified, for the selector or for the

interviewer or how we came to the company consulting services. I tried to do the

way to show you how it is. But Since I'm a bank account, he does not

allows you to do this. You already have my data and it appears that I can not do

internship. OK? So who's going to go from there? You are the front. But there is not much

secret. Especially for those who have already in some other NGO, did in another

company a registration for the youth's vacancy apprentice, internship or other ...

I was going to ask you to do the following: leave a gem (liked) if these

information helped you. At the same time Leave a comment. Class is very

important for the channel to continue have these curti you sign up for

on the canal and you leave a comment, okay!

What you can do that helps a lot.

You know, you who have been around longer following the channel, that if you have any questions I

Being able to help I help but for example I can not visualize what

you see there in the procedures. And many sometimes it's important to see a page before

to see the other. So some things I can help, leave the doubts

that I will try to guide you in this process. They will stay after the song and the

final vignette, four videos that are important for

that you get an opportunity in a bank. Then watch and try to do

your registration in the other banks because you also increase your chance of

able to enter this financial branch, in this financial area. OK? If it's yours

dream, pursue it, sign up with sure opportunities exist and you can

get yours! Thanks for the attention and until the next video.

Things Gay Guys Hate Hearing - Duration: 5:29.

Its no secret that gay guys, and really just anyone in the LGBT community hear a lot of

really ridiculous things, on pretty much a daily basis.

There are obviously the homophobic remarks, which are stupid and intolerant all

on their own, but there are also some things that are said that aren't intended to be rude,

but they are anyway.

Before I get into them, make sure to give this video a big thumbs up.

If you're new here, I try to use sass and laughter to try to make the world a happier

place.

If that sounds like your vibe, I think you've found your tribe.

I hope you'll subscribe.

Today's video is going to cover 5 things that gay guys hate hearing.

Coming up.

1-You don't seem gay Really?

Cause I've only ever had sex with men.

That seems pretty darn gay to me!

I know that when I talk, I'm not consistently making Lady Gaga references, or swearing my

undying love to Beyonce; and I don't parade down the street wearing nothing but a jock

strap.

Anymore

"Gay" isn't a personality trait.

It's an orientation that applies to millions of people around the world, and for most of

those people, being gay is the LEAST exciting thing about them.

There may be mannerisms that a lot of us have in common, but even I have seen dozens of

straight guys who have those same behaviors.

That doesn't instantly make them crave hot dogs instead of tacos if you get what I mean.

2-Have you ever been with a woman?

When did it become appropriate to ask this question?

When a gay guy says "no," we get "Then how do you know you're gay?"

I don't have to drop a toaster into the bathtub to know that I'm not going to enjoy the experience.

I haven't experienced death, but I know I prefer life.

I don't like the idea of anchovies. I 've never had them, but I know I don't want to.

Why do I need to experience sex with a woman to know I prefer sex with a man.

And to that same argument, doesn't that mean all straight people should have sex someone

of the same gender to be sure that they're straight?

To be clear, before someone jumps down into the comments to try to roast me, I'm not saying

in any way that I dislike women at all.

There are just a few parts on them that I really have no interest in touching.

3-Are you the man or the woman in the relationship The most sexist question you can ask someone.

This means a few things.

The first one obviously is: Are you the top or bottom in the relationship? --which as

far as I'm concerned is something you only want to know because it's information for

your spank bank, and I didn't not come here to make a deposit.

The second way that this is intended is: Are you the more dominant, or powerful one in

the relationship, or are the weak and homebound one?

Really?

Like, actually.

Really?

It's 2018, and you're still referring to women as the weaker sex?

I don't know if you've noticed, but a woman can push a human through her body, and get

up and walk around the next day, and I can barely get a cold without feeling like the

apocalypse is near.

I believe that there are two types of people in the world:

People that are feminists, and people that are wrong.

But to answer the question, we're both men in my relationship.

Which is why it works for us.

Hot dogs for dinner!

4-I have a friend who's gay.

You should meet him Because we'll instantly hit it off, and go

on to live a long happy life, based off of that one similarity?

We're people, not magnets!

If I were to say "Hey, I have friend who's straight.

You should meet him," you'd probably think that was ridiculous, because that makes up

absolutely no part of who you are as a person.

Unless you're thirsty AF and only care about having anyone with a pulse touching your...places.

But if that's the case, that's a you thing, not a me thing.

Stop projecting!

Let's take a look at an extreme example.

Imagine Hilter was gay, and you had a gay friend named Jeff Rosenberg that you wanted

to introduce him to.

Do you think that would work out?

Cause I don't think that'll work out.

One similarity isn't enough.

5-When did you become gay Well, I accidentally watched the Wizard of

Oz when the moon was in the third house of Saturn, 15 minutes into the second equinox

of the Millenium while sipping oolong tea from a crystal glass blessed by a gypsy priest,

and then bathed in the tears of a virgin who had been kicked by a donkey, and suddenly I

wanted to bang Ryan Reynolds.

Just an average Friday, really.

Also...I was born this way.

Do you not listen to Lady Gaga music?

Huh, I guess I do make Lady Gaga references.

*laugh* That's awkward.

There are so many more of these that I'm gonna toss this question to you.

What other things can you think of that gay guys, or lgbt people in general are tired

of hearing?

Let me know in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

If you did, you know the drill.
