(coughing)
The prodigal son returns.
How you doing?
You look good.
Hanging in there.
Yeah?
I came by to ask...
If you would consider going back to work with Fred Andrews.
Huh.
Yeah, he called me.
I said no.
He fired me, Jughead.
Now what kind of man would I be if I went back hat in hand?
For starters?
A man with a job.
Trying to fix his family.
Talk to your mom.
She's the one who gave up on us,
took your sister.
Can you please just go see Mr. Andrews?
He's willing to give you another chance.
(laughs) He's willing, huh?
That's generous of him after all the crap he pulled on me.
Dad.
Don't you wanna see our family back together?
Mom and Jellybean could come home.
I could come home.
It's not too late.

When Did Environmentalism Become So Political? - Duration: 2:46.
This is the face of an American environmentalist.
Richard Nixon, former republican President of the United States.
You see, not that long ago, environmentalism was a fairly bipartisan issue.
But all that changed.
And it might be because of this guy... and this guy.
Many remember Nixon for Watergate, but a 2012 survey of top environmental groups named him
the 2nd greenest president in history, only behind Teddy Roosevelt.
And that's because it was Nixon who created the EPA and NOAA.
He passed things like the Clean Water Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered
Species Act, the Pesticide Control Act and extended the Clean Air Act.
But some say this was all a political strategy in order to compete with a potential 1972
presidential rival, Democratic Senator and outspoken environmentalist Edmund Muskie.
That's right, in the early 1970's the republican strategy was to try to out-green
the democrats.
The tradition of the environmentalist president continued up to George H.W. Bush, who not
only ran on environmental promises, he passed an expanded Clean Air Act Amendment in 1990
and appointed the first conservationist to lead the EPA.
But as his presidency went on, Bush became less environmental.
Some think it's due to the recession in the early 1990's, forcing him to put the
economy over the environment.
And then there were these guys.
Challenging Bush for the White House was a democratic ticket featuring Al Gore, who had
just written a book that would eventually be turned into the documentary "An Inconvenient
Truth."
Gore's environmentalism was seen as a threat by the right, with Bush going as far as saying
he was "so far out in the environmental extreme we'll be up to our necks in owls
and outta work for every American."
Clinton and Gore argued that environmentalism isn't just good for Earth, but would be
good for jobs and touted a "market-based environmental strategy."
Protecting the environment was now a split political issue.
Now, you can't blame this change entirely on the 1992 election, there were other factors
before and since that have added to the divide.
But since the early 90's, the general voting population and members of congress have grown
farther and farther apart on the environment.
The Democrats fight to enact laws to protect the environment that they feel will help the
economy in the long run and the Republicans fight against environmental regulations they
feel are making it harder for companies to prosper, hurting the present day American
workforce.
Environmentalism was once a bipartisan presidential stance because it was a bipartisan voter stance.
69% of the voting population was concerned about air pollution when Nixon signed the
Clean Air Act.
It was a smart political move.
So, until the voting public can agree on how to move forward with things like global warming,
fossil fuels, and federal land rights, America probably won't see the political parties
agree on the environment any time soon.

The Scent of Life - Tom Court - Episode 1 - Duration: 2:09.
Awareness
It's something that grows slowly, surely, when you pay attention.
Being aware of the elements:
The smell of the sea.
The force of the wind on my face.
The sound of the leaves in the trees.
The waves lapping against the shores.
Nature is a pure and unpredictable force
You always have to be ready for the unexpected.
You can only rely on your senses.
When I was younger, the ocean was my demon.
Every time I had to go in the water, I was afraid.
Now, this fear has become my driver, to challenge myself and to reinvent my sport.
Understanding the elements, combining them… making water and wind your allies.
This is what I do.
In spite of injuries, I've come back.
Instead of asking too many questions, I have conquered my fears.
Rather than giving up, I have gained strength.
These are the most important things I've learned. They shape you.
I'm Tom, I'm 28 years old and I'm a professional kite surfer

Psycho - A Fallout 4 Machinima - Episode 13 - Duration: 7:09.
You shot my robot!
Homeboy, I just fist fucked an army of robots to death.
You think that little flashlight is gonna rattle my chain?
I'm an historian of sorts.
I chronicle the details of the wasteland.
What do you want from me?
If I tell you what's on the map, I want to come with you.
What possible reason would you have to come with me?
You have an ancient treasure map.
Hello? HELLO!
Is it you, chosen one?
Yes, it is me, the chosen one.
We assume you have the map?
Yes.
And the holy hand cannon?
What?
That like only 2 of a dozen things you need.
Fucking fetch quests.
Well fuckity well fucking well.
And who are you pray tell?
I'm Triage, and this is my rather imposing and annoyingly well-spoken associate Vincent.
Charmed.
You want us to fight for the amusement of your patrons?
Mostly for me, actually.
If we survive, you'll tell us where the cannon is?
We missed you, Raul.
Who the fuck is this bitch?
Um… let's just say ex-girlfriend.
Not exactly.
Where did you she touch you, Raul?
Were you going through a "bad-girl" phase?
How the hell did they find me?
Or the sound of ST's sexuality dying a horrible pocky-flavored death.
Oh, did the dickless bust dressed like a hooker just say something?
This dude fucks.
Is there anywhere we can speak that's a little less... slaughter housy?
All this gore making you a bit queasy?
... sure, let's go with that.
I see you're getting an erection storyteller san, would you like me to initiate sensual
gratification mode?
No not now.
What?
Okay, Storyteller san, would you like me to disable this feature?
Umm...
What are you doing in there?
Okay, see you later naughty boy.
Indeed milady.
Dude!
What?
Oh right, yes, let's find a better place for a conversation ehh?
The club is very near capacity.
We could go to the champagne room though.
Can we get bottle service?
What?
Bitches love bottle service.
I'll... see what I can do.
Okay.
Time to come clean about Sephiroth back there.
It's not relevant at the moment.
We are in a bit rush right now, yes?
I think we have a moment.
There is something I'd like to know, if you could do me the kindness of humoring me.
Oh, and what is that exactly?
Why, if I could be so bold as to ask, should I not tear you all limb from limb right now?
What do you have to gain from that?
It would seem you are at least tertiarily responsible for the death of my good friend
and employer.
Hmm...
Listen here you overgrown fucking salamander.
You're dumber than the boot leather I made from your friends.
I swear the bigger your horns get the more fucking useless you become.
I tried to write a poem about how ugly you were, but all I could write were the words
dumpster fire over and over again.
Our relationship was complicated.
Emphasis on 'was'.
Your boss is toast, amigo.
Also, I don't remember us brokering any deals to force a group of strangers into a battle
to the death for information.
That ones on him.
... I suppose.
Great.
Glad we got that out of the way, we can get back to the interrogation.
Look... there are certain things I can talk about, there are certain things I can't, this
falls into category A. Suffice it to say, if she's here some other less-than- desireable's
won't be to far behind her.
And we don't want to be here when they show up.
Do they were all black and have crazy evil looking masks on?
Sounds about right, how did you know?
Hold that thought, cupcake.
Kind of like that?
Shit.
There are more of them aren't there.
Yeah.
It's Lex's entourage of emo fuckboys.
We need to leave.
Fast.
There's an exit over there.
It will take us to the street level.
Are they dangerous to the people in the club? ... only if you have an irrational attachment
to being alive.
ID's please.
Yeah that'd be them.
Get everyone out of here.
Tell security not to fight them.
I need to go.
If you go into that club, you're going to die.
You don't- The fuck I don't.
Trust me on this one.
Just come with us, there's nothing you can do.
Anywhere these guys go, everyone dies.
So you should not be here when they are.
He's not here.
Hello again, old friend.
Decision time, Vincent.
All right!
Great.
So our actions have now lead to another accidental swath of carnage and death, and we don't even
know where the cannon is.
I know where the cannon is.
You do?
Of course.
Will you take us?
Well...
I do seem to be unemployed.
But what pray tell do I get out of it?
What do you want?
401k and bennies.
... variable annuity and dental, but it'll be a $1000 copay.
Deal.
Any other armies of ruthless indiscriminate killing machines I should know about?
I mean... none that immediately spring to mind.
Mom, dad.
I'm home from my trip how- oh god.
Oh god, no.
Who did this?
I...
I...
I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE.

Moana's Auli'i Cravalho | Untold | Disney - Duration: 2:11.
I am quite similar to Moana in many ways.
I've grown up on an island with the stories of Maui
and how he pulled islands out of the sea and slowed down the sun.
I also grew up with pigs and chickens.
I mean, it's a little uncanny.
I'm having hard a time finding differences between Moana and I.
I mean, I'm not the daughter of the chief, but my dad's pretty great too.
I wasn't initially going to audition for Moana because I was in high school
and I was trying to get through freshman year.
But, as fate would have it, my friends and I decided to audition for a non-profit organization,
and we didn't get in.
But the woman who was going through those auditions is also the casting director for Disney
and when she saw our tape, she asked if I wanted to audition for Moana.
I'm still thanking my lucky stars that I said yes.
So I went into the studio, I'm nervous right,
and they're like, "Okay, just play the character like you would,"
and they're like, "Mmmm, can you say it a little happier?
Like, what if we gave you the part?
How would you react?"
And I'm like, this is getting real ... Okay.
[laughs] So I say the lines again and they're like, "Well, we're not joking anymore.
Yeah, we're not joking.
We'd like to give you the part of Moana."
And then cut back to me and I'm like, yes!
And I'm crying and I'm happy.
And I pull out my phone and I call my mom.
And then the tears start again.
I will never forget that moment and I don't think Ron and John will either.
I might have screamed enough
where it's just forever going to be ringing in their ears.
I hope people take away just how important this film is.
It's vital that we all take that time to figure out who we are.
This world will throw some curve balls at you,
but if you're grounded in who you are and you stay true to that,
that's what counts.
And that's what will take you far.
Aloha, I'm Auli'i Cravalho and I am Moana.

AJ Styles & Kevin Owens In Back Of Wrestlemania Poster! WWE Fastlane Changes! | WrestleTalk News - Duration: 4:20.
Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News!
I'm Oli Davis, and I'll be replying to as many comments as I can in the first 15
minutes of these episodes going live.
So enable notifications on your YouTube app to get this videos first.
THE ULTIMATE THRILL-RIDE Wrestlemania 33 is just several weeks away now, so WWE are beginning
to flood the Orlando area with advertisements for the event.
The latest - in the time-honoured American tradition of giant roadside attractions, like
the world's largest Wicker Basket replica, or the world's largest cherry on a spoon
- is the world's largest WWE Championship belt.
Just make sure Vince McMahon doesn't see that picture.
He'll think Shinsuke Nakamura's too small for the main roster.
And from the same company that brought you the Royal Rumble 2017 poster, with then-WWE
Champion AJ Styles in the back row, and part-timers Undertaker, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar leading
the charge, WWE has done it again with their new advertisement for THE ULTIMATE THRILL-RIDE
WRESTLEMANIA 33.
Goldberg, Undertaker and Brock Lesnar are at the front again, with Roman Reigns, John
Cena, Triple H and Shane McMahon up next.
You have to go all the way back to find Styles and Kevin Owens - the two men who carried
their respective brands since last year's split.
AJ had been openly critical about his Royal Rumble poster placement earlier this year.
WWE Champion Bray Wyatt also finds himself tucked into a corner.
At least front-and-centre Goldberg is the Universal Champion.
There's also no cruiserweights in the line-up, nor Big Show or Shaq - a long-reported match
that might now not be happening.
There's also no Finn Balor or Samoa Joe, neither of whom have anything planned for
WWE's biggest show of the year so far.
But as The Face That Gets Put In The Back Of The Place told Lillian Garcia on her show
Making Their Way To The Ring, it's not about what wrestlers 'deserve' - as the popular
'You Deserve It' chant goes - it's about what they 'earn'.
"I hate when people say, 'you deserve it'...I want them to say 'you earned it.'
Sometimes when they chant 'you deserve it', like, no I don't, because there's other
guys who've fought just as hard to get to this point."
'You earn it'.
I agree, AJ.
But come back to me when you've got something with four syllables in to replace it.
Sunday's WWE Fastlane was the night the streaks ended.
Nia Jax lost to Sasha Banks clean.
Charlotte's undefeated pay-per-view run is now over.
And after a tremendous build of his monster character, Braun Strowman succumbed to Roman
Reigns' push.
According to Wrestling News World - so take this with a pinch of salt - the Roman vs Braun
match finish was changed at 8.40 EST - 40 minutes into the pay-per-view already being
on-air.
The site doesn't say who the original winner was meant to be, but they do report that initial
plans didn't have Reigns beating Strowman clean.
Apparently The Undertaker's return "was pushed from Fastlane to Raw" the next night,
so the Deadman was presumably involved in the original Roman vs Braun finish, setting
up his ULTIMATE THRILL RIDE WRESTLEMANIA 33 MATCH against the Big Dog.
Undertaker's appearance being moved from Fastlane to Raw is also reportedly why Finn
Balor didn't make his WWE return on Monday, as "they did not want both returns on the
same night."
And those weren't the only last-minute changes at Fastlane.
Wrestling News World are also reporting that both Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax and Charlotte
vs Bayley were also changed, with the original plan having Sasha lose to Nia earlier in the
night, and then for Banks turn on Bayley, costing her the Women's Championship.
This corroborates Bryan Alvarez reporting that initially Nia was meant to go over Banks.
All those last-minute changes might be responsible for a screwed up match finish at WWE Fastlane.
And Roman's crowd reaction be damned - WWE are going to edit out the negative chants
on YouTube regardless.

I've been Oli Davis, and that was wrestling.

A Real Nail Biter | The Incredible Dr. Pol - Duration: 2:13.
[music playing]
Come on, little girl.
NARRATOR: Pettie, a 30-year-old Quaker parrot,
has lived a peaceful life--
BILL: It's OK, pretty girl.
It's OK.
NARRATOR: --until now.
DR. POL: Bill has a parrot--
Pettie-- who got in a tiff with his housemate.
BILL: She just holds it up there.
And Bill thinks that his bird has a broken leg.
BILL: And she just hops.
NARRATOR: A broken leg would be especially
devastating for Pettie.
BILL: I'm very worried about her.
When I rescued her, she was never able to fly.
DR. POL: William.
BILL: I'm not sure how she's going
to eat or get around to drink.
And so he's limping, huh?
BILL: I have a Nanday parrot, and he
sort of got ahold of her leg.
NARRATOR: On a limb this tiny, it takes just the right touch--
DR. POL: Just hold still.
It's OK.
BILL: See, she wouldn't even let me do that.
NARRATOR: --to crack the case.
DR. POL: It's not broke.
BILL: Oh, thank goodness.
NARRATOR: Pettie didn't escape the battle unscathed
She misses the nail there, see that?
BILL: Oh.
DR. POL: It seems like these beaks
are strong enough to basically cut off the whole toenail.
And now Pete has a sore leg because it cut into the quick.
Hey!
That hurts.
Not so hard.
Pettie just has to wait and see if the nail grows back.
If it grows back, everything will be fine.
If the nail has been cut off in the quick
so it doesn't grow back, Pettie still will be fine.
It's nice to have big hands.
NARRATOR: An anti-inflammatory will
make Pettie more comfortable.
DR. POL: There you go.
Now, time.
NARRATOR: She just has to wait for her nail to grow back.
And I'll make sure they do not get together.
DR. POL: They do not get together.
That's the whole secret.
[ding]
NARRATOR: For now, she's riding shotgun home.
BILL: There you go.
See you later.

AC coupling & Today's Scope Month Winners! (9-Mar-2017) - Duration: 2:17.
Hi and welcome to scope month! My name is
Daniel Bogdanoff and today is Thursday,
March 9th which means we're giving
away another six 1000 X-Series
scopes and tomorrow we're also going to
give away two more 4000 X-Series
oscilloscopes. All you have to do to
enter that drawing is go to ScopeMonth.com
You can enter once per day and
all of your entries will be included in
each day's drawing. You may be wondering
why I have a lemon here. That's because
the scope tip for the day actually ties
into the EEs Talk Tech podcast which we
have a new episode airing today. So I
have set up a lemon battery. So I have
some copper tacks here on one side of the
lemon and some galvanized nail on the
other side. If i connect my scope to both
terminals of this lemon battery, I'm
going to use an extra ground clip here
so I can clip on to a copper tack.
You'll see that we will get a DC signal on
the scope screen. So I'm peaking at
right around 800 millivolts. Now let's
pretend we're using this lemon
battery as a voltage source and we want
to see what sort of noise we're getting
on top of that. We can actually put the
scope in to AC coupling mode instead of
DC coupling mode. And what AC coupling
mode is going to do is get rid of that
DC offset on your signal and focus
solely on the AC components in your
system. If you're interested in learning
more about how the lemon battery works
and how that contributed to the
discovery of the Volt- so Galvani and
Volta actually discovered this phenomena.
Check out the EEs Talk Tech podcast and
if you're interested in learning more
about AC coupling, check out the 2-Minute
Guru video we have. There will be links
for those both at the end of the video.
So let's go ahead and give away scopes.
We're going to give away six
1000 X-Series scopes and our winners today are
Pasi Lassila Brian Hrpcek, Tyler
McGinn, Mark Petersen, Gary Fullhart, and
Catalina Ionescu. Congratulations to
our winners! We will be in touch with you
shortly.
That's all for today. I highly encourage
you to take a couple minutes and go

WikiLeaks CIA Can Hack Cars to Carry Out "Undetectable Assassinations" – Just Like Michael Hastings - Duration: 6:34.
WikiLeaks CIA Can Hack Cars to Carry Out Undetectable Assassinations Just Like Michael Hastings.
Award-winning journalist Michael Hastings garnered international acclaim for coverage
of the Iraq War and had established a comfortable career with BuzzFeed, GQ, and Rolling Stone
when his life abruptly ended in a fiery one-car crash under such suspicious circumstances,
a prominent national security official claimed it was consistent with a car cyber attack.
There is reason to believe that intelligence agencies for major powers, including the
United States, have developed the technology to remotely seize control of a vehicle, former
U.S. National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection, and Counter-terrorism Richard
A. Clarke told Huffington Post shortly after Hastings death in June 2013.
What has been revealed as a result of some research at universities is that its relatively
easy to hack your way into the control system of a car, and to do such things as cause acceleration
when the driver doesnt want acceleration, to throw on the brakes when the driver doesnt
want the brakes on, to launch an air bag, Clarke continued.
You can do some really highly destructive things now, through hacking a car, and its
not that hard. Now with Wikileaks release of the voluminous
cache of Central Intelligence Agency documents known as Vault 7 it seems Clarke has been
proven correct.
As of October 2014 the CIA was also looking at infecting the vehicle control systems used
by modern cars and trucks, Wikileaks writes.
The purpose of such control is not specified, but it would permit the CIA to engage in nearly
undetectable assassinations. A number of inconsistencies and questions
still surround the journalists sudden demise, despite the official ruling of accidental
but, perhaps, the CIA revelations offer the most feasible explanation.
Neighbor and eyewitness to the peculiar crash, Jordanna Thigpen, told LA Weekly Hastings
had been acting erratically convinced helicopters frequently nearby were spying
on him and told her his Mercedes had been meddled with in the days just prior to his
death.
He was scared, Thigpen told the publication, and he wanted to leave town.
Friends of Hastings concurred with the assessment hed appeared increasingly agitated and
tense just before the putative accident, and worried the government had been spying on
him.
image: http://pixel.watch/qut7 In the predawn hours on June 18, 2013, Hastings
Mercedes was captured on CCTV and witnessed by a few people flying at top speed through
the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, leaving a trail of sparks and flames before slamming
directly into a palm tree and exploding into flames.
Burned beyond recognition, the medical examiner identified the 33-year-old journalist through
a fingerprint match in the FBI database.
Although trace recreational substances were detected in Hastings system, the coroner
found that could not have impaired the driver or caused the accident.
One security video purportedly showed a large flash of bright light occur prior to impact
an account backed by a witness who told San Diego News 6 an explosion came before
the car hit the tree leading some to believe the car had been purposefully blown up.
An explosion before impact, which would slow down the vehicle, would explain the minimal
damage observed on the palm tree, Jerome Corsi wrote for WND.
Other physical evidence at the crash site also is not consistent with a high-speed,
out-of-control impact. To understand why the CIA would have interest
in the targeted assassination of a journalist, its necessary to understand the impact
an uncensored, transparent press can have on those in power.
Hastings rose to prominence with reporting on the Iraq War for Newsweek, but it was an
expos for Rolling Stone in 2010, The Runaway General, on General Stanley McChrystal,
commander of NATOs International Assistance Security Force in the Afghanistan War that
earned the George Polk Award and ultimately cost the general his career.
Beyond McChrystal and the military, Hastings had grown sharply critical of the Obama administration
and the Democrat Party, and developed a decided consternation for and preoccupation with the
U.S. governments surveillance of journalists.
In fact, Hastings last article for BuzzFeed bore the title, Why Democrats Love To Spy
On Americans. He summarized, Besides Senators Ron Wyden and Mark Udall, most Democrats
abandoned their civil liberty positions during the age of Obama.
With a new leak investigation looming, the Democrat leadership are now being forced to
confront all the secrets theyve tried to hide.
Whether a covert government operation to seize control of Hastings vehicle actually took
place will almost certainly never be known, but that the CIA discussed improvements to
the same technology in 2014 indicates it would have been available.
Hastings tried to warn the nation about infringements against the free press by the insidious network
of agencies ostensively tasked with maintaining national security but did he pay the ultimate
cost?
So if there were a cyber attack on the car and Im not saying there was,
Clarke, the security official, told HuffPost, I think whoever did it would probably get
away with it.

The Robber Fly – Top Gun of the fly world - Duration: 2:51.
This Robber fly is a remarkable insect
you could call it the Top Gun of the
fly world. It can spot, track and kill
its prey in half a second. That is the
equivalent of a human spotting and
catching its prey at the other end of
football pitch.
So how does it do this? My name is
Paloma Gonzalez-Bellido and we have been studying
this incredible insect using high-speed
video cameras and microscopic images.
We found that the Robber fly has very
sophisticated eyes. The majority of insects
have a compound eyes but this means that
they have one lens for each sensor
with each unit. You can imagine that if you
want a high-resolution eye you will have
to have a really big eye because
there's so many lenses - and so we
actually wonder how is it that this
small animal and actually do this task
while being so small. What we discovered
is that , of the many lenses in this eye
many of them were small but some
of them were really really large and these
large lenses were actually at the centre
of the eye. Beneath it they actually very
very small sensors and what this means
is that this eye it has a really high
resolution image of the world just in
that a small part of the field of view.
When he spots his prey the fly
launches itself upwards maintaining the
same relative angle to his prey whilst
moving closer and closer.
This means that the Robber fly can manoeuvre
itself mid-air if his prey changes direction.
Once the fly is between 29 centimeters
of his prey,
although we don't know how I measures
this distance, the fly locks onto its prey
while changing its own trajectory. It then
sweeps around, slows down and comes along
side his prey to make his final attack.
We think this is an amazing insect that
will help us develop better for robots or
drones. Nowadays one of the problems
with drones is that they basically
consume a lot of energy and they will
drain the batteries very very quickly.
This is because it takes energy to
process all the visual information so that
they can actually navigate the world
without crashing. As is often the case we can
take a lesson from the natural world to
minimize the power requirement.
This combined with a remarkable
Robber fly hunting ability, can help us better
design drones - so for example these drones
will be used in rescue operations where
it is not safe to send humans into a house
that has been on fire for example, but more
more specifically the ones that we're
working with at the moment, the idea at
the moment will be that it will be
useful for drones to take down other
drones that are illegal. Say for example in
a concert in an airport.

Welcome to the Heumann Perspective.
Today women around the world are celebrating International Women's Day.
I selected this day to do my first facebook live because as a disabled woman myself, I
know the barriers that we face here in the United States and
around the world.
My objective doing Facebook live will be the highlight the important work that people are
doing in the United States and around the world to advance the human rights of disabled
people today.
I'd like to introduce Stephanie Ortoleva. and thank you for joining us.
My pleasure.
Today we're going to be discussing the important work that Stephanie and Women Enabled International
are doing.
I've had the privilege though Stephanie for a good number (of years working), to advance
human rights of disabled men and women around the world.
Stephanie is highly respected for her vision and her unique ability to work
with disability rights organizations and international women's rights organizations.
Today's theme for international women's day is be bold for change, and I'm wondering if
you could share with us what does that mean for you to be bold.
Well I really believe that being bold is the only way to achieve our success so one of
the ways to be bold of course is to tell truth to power sometimes that's extremely difficult.
Another thing that I do, which I consider to be a bold statement is to remind people
especially women's rights activists that women with disabilities are women too, and of course
the one of the other ways that I like to be bold is by coloring my hair purple, the feminist
color, something that some people think perhaps a little too bold.
But that's ok.
Today I'm wearing red and I also have my wheelchair purple all the time, because I think purple
is a great color and as Stephanie says represents feminism.
I'd also like to ask Stephanie, could you share with us a little information about what
why you started Women Enabled International?
Sure, sure.
Well um for several years I worked at the U.S. Department of State as an International
Human Rights lawyer and also as a Human Rights Officer and I found very often that one day
I could work on women's rights global issues then another day I might be working on disability
rights issue, globally and I found that those two issues often did not intersect, so Women
Enabled International works at the intersection of women's rights and disability rights to
advance the rights of women and girls with disabilities.
So another reason is because there are a number of new and a couple of old, many of those
organizations are very small, have limited funds and also have limited legal support
for their advocacy so we wanted to provide some of that kind of support.
One of the reasons why I wanted you to speak today is because of your vision of working
collaboratively with women's organizations and as you were saying because many disability
rights organizations run by women are small is because
they're not receiving the same kind of funding as other women's rights organizations.
are receiving, but also I think because many of the issues that we deal with
like violence against women, and women with disabilities, we know that rates of violence
against women with disabilities in the United States and around the world is much higher
and I think you know you and I also share the
perspective that we're not only dealing with women in the area of violence who have disabilities
that women have become disabled as a result of violence, absolutely and who then are kind
of out there by themselves neither being supported by women's organizations nor are
aware of disabled women's organizations.
Could you share with us a little bit about some of the barriers that you've worked on
within the women's community and progress that you've made to date?
Sure, I think there are two ways that we've tried to address this.
You know I strongly believe that you can't go to a sister organization and say I want
you to work on my issue because basically you want to go to them and
work collaboratively on shared issues.
Because no one is going to respect you if you come and say I want you to work on this
but I don't really give a darn about your issues.
That can't be the way that we do it, so I think it's really
important to be engaged as a disabled woman with women's rights organizations, and to
make them aware of our issues but also to find the areas in which we have common concerns
such as gender-based violence, access to sexual and
reproductive health rights to education employment, and also I'm very interested in women with
disabilities in the fields of science technology, engineering and math, and participation in
sports, despite my absurdly low athletic ability.
But you know it's a very empowering thing, so we've done it by collaborating with women's
rights organizations but also by collaborating with disabled women's rights organizations.
In one project that we instituted recently, for example, is what we call the
accountability tool kit and by this document in the trainings that we're doing on it we're
working with disabled women's rights organizations to help them to do
advocacy at the United Nations and basically summarizing and outlining International Human
Rights law on a variety of issues, not only with the committee about the disability treaty
but also the women's rights treaty, the child's rights treaty, and numerous
other human rights treaties.
That's just one example of the way that we're going about doing that and I think is an important
example because I very much agree with you we can't go to other
organizations expecting them to like just take on our issues but our issues are their
issues but because disabled people are sometimes something that regular organizations have
not been engaged with.
I think toolkits can be very helpful for a very broad audience of
people.
So congratulations on that work.
Thank you.
This toolkit will help disabled women's organizations and the trainings that we do to do their own
advocacy but it will also introduce women's rights organizations to
how some of these issues intersect with one another and one thing that we did last year
at the height of the Zika crisis, many people asked
just be a little helpful and to do talking points on Zika both from a women's rights
perspective and a disability rights perspective.
You know supporting both of those areas of human rights but sort of showing and
explaining how they intersect in how you could have a strong position- that's women's-rights
sensitive but absolutely disability rights sensitive.
Especially in terms of things like language and such.
What brings you joy in the work that you're doing?
What brings me joy?
Well one of the things that always really excites me is when I see young women with
disabilities empowered and active.
That's just a thrill because they're the joyous reason
and then there's the selfish reason.
The selfish reason is that we really need young women who who are and will continue
to be our leaders in our movement, when Judy and I can't.
I can't imagine when that day will be?
But when Judy and I want to perhaps work less and that
really gives me excitement.
It also really thrills me when some of these UN treaty bodies begin a mechanism that you
never expect, we did a submission to the special rapporteur on arbitrary
executions.
One of the things she does in her work is, you know, look at, you look at instances of
human rights violations in terms of killings.
And so one of the reasons she responded personally and directly to me thanking
us for her submission and saying that she really looked forward to working with us and
she had a few other projects in mind for collaboration.
So that was really exciting.
So I'd like to thank you very much for watching today I can't believe
the time is gone.
We will be doing more of these facebook lives and I would also like to say that we will
have this Facebook live captioned within 24 hours.
So thank you for joining the Heumann Perspective and I look forward to learning
from you and engaging with you over the coming months, and please look for Women Enabled
on social media and the internet.
www.WomenEnabled.org.
And good day, have fun, and be bold.
Thanks Stephanie.

Local Natives | Feedback: Episode 2 | Fender - Duration: 2:01.
- [Man] We all grew up in Southern California.
Most of the kids were at the beach
pretty much the whole time, and I feel like we
were the kids just staying inside the garages playing music.
(dreamy indie rock music)
So much of our music is made with us
just playing off of each other.
It's this super visceral, like, body feeling.
It's very physical.
- [Man] There's like this tangible energy that you exchange.
♫ We can do whatever we want (cheering)
♫ We can say whatever we mean
- [Man] The guitar is such a important way
for me, still, to get a song from, you know, nowhere.
I used to play these
Italian super, kinda like flimsy, thin guitars.
And then on our second album cycle,
I got this Jaguar® that was my main guitar
for probably four years or something.
And it was just this amazing sound,
and definitely transformed how I was playing guitar
and making music when I made that switch.
- [Man] Of all the new synths and electronics,
I think we always came back to,
like, wanting to also plug one
of our Jazzmasters® or something in.
And you get that reliable sound,
that we always come back to it.
- [Man] We never learned theory or anything like that.
What was cool about it is like,
even without knowing those chords, you could just
make your own rules and kind of figure it out.
In that way we kind of created a sound
that felt original to us, unique to us.
- [Man] I remember you used to talk about
how you were worried that they were gonna run out of chords.
- [Man] No, I still think that. I'm still terrified.
- [Man] It's all been used.

I...
I...

THIS is the Meaning of Life | Adam LoDolce - Duration: 4:00.
I want to create this really special video for you right here today, because over the
past few years, I've been really blessed, and I've had the opportunity to travel the
world, meet thousands of new people, have a career that I'm super passionate about,
and use my creativity to help women like you find love.
Over the past 10 years, throughout my ups and my downs, I've constantly pondered, what
is the purpose of all this?
Not to get cheesy, what is the meaning of life?
We have a short period of time on this incredible planet, and we're constantly scrambling every
single day to make sense of it all.
We're told you've got to work hard, stay focused, and try to live a life of purpose and meaning,
but we keep chipping away every single day, hoping maybe, just maybe, we'll understand
what's the meaning of it all.
I think it's not until you've really achieved the job, the money, the body you want, that
you realize that none of it really matters.
It's not the meaning of life.
I believe that the true meaning of life is all about the relationships that you form
throughout it.
Here's why.
I know for a fact that right before you die, no one is thinking about that new car that
they bought when they were 45, or that Rolex watch that they bought when they got their
first promotion.
No.
The only thing that you think about are those small number of people in your life that really
meant something to you.
The quality of the relationships that you form throughout your life are what matters
most, whether or not you've been net positive or net negative in other people's lives.
I ask you, please don't spend your life chasing money, sex, fame, validation.
This is only short-term gratification.
Spend your life nurturing those relationships that really matter, and remove those relationships
from your lives that just, quite frankly, don't.
Now, I know none of this is as exciting as the money or the fame or the validation or
sex, any of that stuff, but it's far more fulfilling and will lead you towards a much
happier and longer life.
Surround yourself with people who make you a better person.
Romantic relationships are certainly important, but that's not all.
I'm talking about your working relationships, your friendships, your brother, your sister,
your siblings, your parents.
All these things are a representation of you and your life.
You are simply an output of those relationships.
For starters, be smart about who you allow in your life.
You really do have a limited amount of time and resources to really invest in relationships,
so don't waste it on people that don't matter to you or who aren't also helping you do things
in your life that you want to do.
Save that energy for the people who really are there for you.
Secondly, be willing to say sorry.
Sometimes, even if you are right, you need to be a bigger person.
In life, it's just naturally going to happen.
You're going to hurt those people that are close to you, and many times without doing
it on purpose.
I've learned that you need to be willing to drop the ego sometimes.
Just apologize so you can mend the relationship and move forward with that person.
Finally, constantly show small acts of kindness.
It's honestly better to give someone just a small gift that shows them that you've been
thinking about them on just some random day than it is to wait until Christmas to buy
them some piece of crap that they don't really need.
Now, it wasn't until I really hit my 30s where I realized two very important things.
Number one, our lives are actually really insignificant, and two, I will get old and
die.
This video isn't here to scare you.
It's actually to motivate you and refocus you so you look in the right direction.
Today's the day for you to put as much energy into your relationships as you do in your
health and your wealth, if not much more.
Make your relationships a priority, both your romantic relationships and, of course, your
platonic relationships.
Don't allow the minutia of life to sidetrack you from what really matters most, the people
in your life that are important to you.
That's all that really matters in life.
Once you understand this true meaning, then you're suddenly free to live it that way that
truly matters.
I challenge you right now to pick up the phone ... Not text anyone.
Pick up the phone, call someone who really matters to you, and tell them how you really
feel.
Speak to you next week.
Bye bye.

this question because it gives people an

this episode is no more than just me

going back to when you were a child
liking to inflict pain or what not is
because people often wonder is there was
something wrong with them
so for instance i know that i have a
friend who enjoys inflicting pain on his
partner and he has told me before that
when he was younger he was often freaked
out that maybe he was destined to become
a child abuser or a partner beater a
wife beater and so he didn't want to
have kids and didn't want to have a
partner because he was afraid he was
going to inflict this kind of
non-consensual pain on them and
fast-forward to today I think he's one
of the most loving and parental figures
out there and it's just a joy to watch
him interact with his wife and kids so
let's dive into a little bit of my story
condensed into as fast as I can make it
for this episode I didn't discover that
i was into kinky stuff until
I watched a movie in 2003 and really is
called secretary starring james spader
and it was pretty much life changing
because it was such an AHA like mind
blown moment that watching it
this will be watching him and Maggie
Gyllenhaal interact in a dominant and
submissive way and having her not know
that she was submissive really opened my
eyes to what submission was or what
being kinky was or what
BDSM what I mean when I was 13
this is when i watched it I was like I
didn't know any better but I just knew
that it excited me and I couldn't really
explain it
fast forward into a few years later
being the big harry potter fan that I am
I read a lot of fanfiction in high
school and throughout college in
addition to reading books published by
authors yaa what-have-you i read a lot
of fan fiction and i discovered a fanfic
that was all about dominance and
Submission between the two characters
specifically making hermione for the win
I'm still peeing taken Hermione and it
was so fascinating to me because I knew
that reading the story waiting every
week for a new chapter to be released I
just couldn't get enough of it I
couldn't understand why i wanted to but
I just knew that I really loved seeing
myself and Hermione position and she was
the sub and Nate was the dominant and
just the way the story was written by
really well read author it's captivated
me so much and so because of the
secretary and Harry Potter's fantastic i
did a lot of research and that's when I
realized that something within the BDSM
community specifically dominance and
Submission really spoke to me and it
wasn't until a couple years ago that I
was just curious to see is my discovery
of kink what further investment 2003 so
there is the reason why
Aladdin was one of my favorite movies
growing up as a kid in the Disney Rome
and i realized that when i was asking
for my parents for halloween costumes or
when I was watching movies
my favorite part in a lot and was when
Jasmine was captured by Jafar and so she
turned from the blue Jasmine into the
red jasmine and she had shackles on her
and she was confined in that sand timer
and I remember rewinding a capper
whining those scenes over and over and
over again because they just really
spoke to me or another example was when
I was a kid my cousins and family
members are huge Star Wars fan and my
favorite scene in the whole entire
franchise at that time was when Princess
Leia with captured by java the hut and
she became slave leia and her outfit
also in Chains and so I remember also
rewinding that scene over and over and
over again and told the tape snap this
is just an example of me piecing
together my kink history and it started
when I was a toddler
of course I question whether or not
there were things wrong with me or with
my childhood insufficient in some way
but you know what at the end of the day
i love why airing out i love the
placemat and it is what it is and
there's nothing wrong with knowing that
disney has shake the way that my kink
life had turned out thanks to disney so
that's my story in that she'll and he
said I'm starting this conversation
because i believe and helping the people
that I tell the story to to change from
fear that their weird or that their
childhood was lacking or that they had
mommy and daddy issues or whatever it
may be or that they're afraid that
because they might be interested in kink
or BDSM that they are sick in the head
somehow or that something was
insufficient in their life and you know
what they're not and you're not so
that's why i tell my story because it
changes you from
code of reaction and fear into
self-acceptance love introspection and
enlightenment and that's what can cause
all about is becoming a better person in
terms of growth and love in a society
where there's so much hate and judgment
that's being filled left and right
my hope for you today is that through my
story you found some aha moments in your
life or maybe you found some self-love
piece self-acceptance in your journey as
a human being and how maybe King has
influenced that there's nothing wrong
with you there's no need to be ashamed
of what happened it is what it is and I
think that you're an amazing person
regardless of your kinky or not but to
know that just because you are kinky
doesn't make you any more weird or
different then anyone else so that's all
i have for you this week stay kinky if
