The NRA has a new leader! - TGC News! - Duration: 9:14.

This week on TGC News, Springfield and Rock River get on board the SS Betrayal, a couple

sweet new products and the NRA has a new president!

Welcome back to TGC News, the only gun news show that covers things you actually care

about, My name is Jon Patton.

Before we get into the news, let me just say thank you for the amazing turnout at the TGC

Panel in Atlanta.

I was jaw dropped that we had a standing room only crowd… it was only the second year

and we had 5 times the turnout.

Unbelievable.

I'll be doing another video on the panel later this week to give you guys a little

behind the scenes look at things.

Now the big story for this week…

Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms are essentially the most hated gun companies in

the world right now.

Why?

Well according to several reports… they sold out big time… well sort of.

My understanding of the situation is that a new bill came to vote in the Illinois state

senate.

That bill would force people to be liecnsed at the state level as well as the federal

level to deal in firearms.

And it wouldnt just affect manufacturers and dealers… it would also affect people that

did more than 9 gun transfers in a year.

Total nonsense for the state of illinois as per usual but heres where the problem comes

in.

A lobbyist for a group called the IFMA or Illinois Firearm Manufacturer Association

which is largely funded by Springfield and Rock River… was standing in the way of the

bill moving forward.

As they should…

Well lobbyists gonna lobby and the guy essentially said if you carve out a section of the bill

so that companies like springfield and rock river arent affected then we won't stand

in the way anymore.

Once the public got wind that a representative of those companies essentially betrayed the

gun owners of the state… they grabbed pitch forks and torches… and rightfully so.

It is absolutely NOT acceptable for a gun manufacturer to pretend like they are more

equal.

However, following this debacle, both springfield and RRA have left the IFMA and are trying

to distance themselves from the situation.

A bit convienient if you ask me but the real issue I take with this situation… is that

the president of springfield is or was the president of the IFMA.

Regardless of whether he knew all of the things that went down he is absolutely responsible.

Claiming ignorance does not absolve someone of wrong doing.

The massive amount of backpedaling after this went down is pretty sad.

Now, the bill did pass the senate but it did not pass the house yet so who knows if it

will get that far and who knows if springfield or rock river really didnt know about this…

My stance?

They fucked up big time.

Betraying the gun owners in illinois turned into a nation wide debacle and they deserve

every bit of nonsense theyre currently dealing with.

Hiring someone that clearly had no idea what he was doing and then pretending like theyre

not responsible is pretty sad.

We shall see how this plays out in the coming months.

And in new products that arent lame news, Remington has joined Mossberg in the "its

not a shotgun its a firearm" market with their new Tac-14.

By law these are not NFA items and if you want to know… go watch the AOW episode of

The Legal Brief where Adam explains.

Long story shorter, this is a pump action 12 gauge with a 14" smooth bore barrel,

and a shockwave raptor grip built on the tried and trusted Remington 870 action.

I didn't really cover it on the show but this is to directly compete with the Mossberg

590 Shockwave which is the same thing built on a 590 action.

Are these practical?

If you like shooting from the hip then yes, are they are great start for an NFA item…

YUP and now that theres finally a remington version I think I might grab one.

And another new product that is REALLY interesting is from Ruger.

The Ruger 10/22 is an amazing gun.

Its had many iterations and evolutions over the years with the most recent significant

change being the takedown models… well guess what… now you can get an integrally suppressed

barrel for your 10/22 takedown… from Ruger.

You may remember a few months back when Ruger released their own rimfire suppressor… well

continuing down that path is the Ruger SR-ISB.

Its got TONS of volume so this thing is bound to be ultra quiet.

The MSRP is set at $629 and hey even though thats more expensive than the gun itself…

its incredible to see a classic american gun company pushing forward the freight train

of suppressors being normal.

And because I feel like its one of those things that won't get a ton of press, I have something

to share with you guys.

There is a new president of the NRA.

Pete Brownell… yes THAT Brownell… is now president of the NRA.

So why does this matter?

Well being that the NRA is one of the biggest pro-gun organizations in the world… and

the fact that I personally am working directly with them to move the try and move the NRA

forward… having someone like Pete at the helm… even if its not forever… is a good

thing for the organization.

Brownells as a company has shown us that they care about content creators, working closely

with many of us, as well as folks from social media and staying close with the beating heart

of the gun enthusiast community.

Even if the NRA gets a touch of that… it will be a positive thing.

Listen, I understand that Colion Noir is a good thing for the NRA, but he is not the

be-all end-all and will not magically move the NRA into the next generation.

And I know that there are a TON of you out there that HATE the NRA… and I get it.

They ask for money all the time, they haven't moved quickly on things that we think they

should when we think they should… etc etc.

But the fact of the matter is that you can not change an organization like the NRA from

the outside.

That is exactly why I've been working with them, that is why Adam ran for the Board of

Directors and that is exactly why its a good thing to have a man like Pete Brownell at

the helm.

I'd be curious to see if you guys think this was a positive thing or negative.

Now for our good guy with a gun story for the week… this time coming from Arlington

Texas.

It was About 6:15 in the evening at Zona Caliente sports bar when a disgruntled customer entered,

on the offensive, starts an altercation with an employee, pull out a gun and kills him.

It was at this point that one of the other patrons who happened to be carrying a gun,

took it upon himself to intervene and stop the threat.

He approached, drew his gun and shot the assailant, killing him.

This isn't a complex story but the fact of the matter remains, this CCW holder potentially

stopped more loss of life because he was armed and prepared.

What would you guys do if you were at your local sports bar and something like this happened?

Are you allowed to carry in a bar in your state?

Cool Truck Sh*t: LoMax Tonneau Cover, PERFECTLY FLUSH! - Duration: 5:22.

Got another episode of Cool Trucks for you.

I have been rocking the bed rug for about a year

on our CO2 build truck, and as you can see,

we've got the back of it full of mud,

and this is, I believe,

the first time it's ever been dry

because every time it rains, this thing soaks up water.

Even though I love it, without a cover of some sort,

it's kind of a nightmare.

So I have been looking for a cover

for at least seven months.

I think after the first time it rained.

But I want it totally flush,

and that's been the hunt I've been on.

These guys actually stopped by one day

and said you have to check this out

because we heard that this is what you've been looking for.

See that fly just attack me?

This is what you've been looking for

and I'm hoping it is the answer.

This is the Lomax.

So the first thing I see

is that they have packed the daylights out of it.

And amazingly, the box is not destroyed.

Which is a nice change.

What I also see that it's really badass-looking aluminum.

Should probably not jump the gun,

but I gotta peek at it, Fuller.

Aw, it's all stuck together as one piece.

We'll get there.

Found the instructions and small parts.

That's a good sign.

This almost looks easy enough that I could do it, Fuller.

I'm not going to, but I betcha I could.

So basically is like a lot of the covers and caps.

It's just gonna have your brackets

that are going to hold onto the frame,

a couple of pieces of Velcro, and an alcohol wipe,

some sort of spring.

I'm sure that's gonna be awesome.

And that's it.

Because the whole concept of this cover,

and we'll show it to you once we get it on here,

is that it's gonna be a quick on,

and then it's gonna be a tri-flip.

So you can either just flip a section or

flip the whole thing and just leave that front chunk,

or you can pop the whole works off

is what they were showing me when they brought it in.

So, we will have the fellas come out here throw this on.

And then we'll give you a shot of it

and then tell you what we have for plans.

So as you guys saw, Brad made it look pretty easy.

And we hoped that it was going to be exactly what it was.

Basically, two rails per side, four clamps per side.

Make your adjustments so that you get your height

just the way you want it.

Tighten everything down,

torque it to 20-foot pounds,

and then snap the cover on.

And boom.

It's a done deal.

(tailgate closes)

Fuller, can you see that?

Betcha can't because it's so low.

So low.

Absolutely exactly what I want.

So this one,

we're actually gonna go through now,

and because everything has to be white on CO2,

she's gonna get vinyl all the way across the top.

And that was one of the biggest reasons I chose this cover,

is that I know I can wrap this whole thing

with three nice, four nice pieces of vinyl

and then flip that up.

And then do whatever I want as far as graphics

or something on the top of there.

So, definitely impressed with the Lomax so far

and we can also do a follow up video with you guys

and let you know how it's going

as far as keeping the water out of here,

dust out of here, that kind of stuff,

and then they tell me that I can stand on top of here,

so I'll probably have to test that out

one of these days too.

"Wall of Fame" Full Omelet Breakfast Challenge at Crazy Otto's *Found on Yelp* | Freak Eating - Duration: 4:31.

if you ever dreamed of starting your

competitive eating career this is the

place to do it

no fanfare no BS no stalling just get

down to business welcome back to another

episode of freak eating I had known

about crazy Otto's for years but it was

only when I started snooping around on

Yelp that I realized they offered a man

versus food style challenge now granted

it's not very difficult you can tell by

the pictures in the wall behind me that

a lot of people have got it done but

it's a great challenge anyone looking to

try their hand at competitive eating for

the first time what I like most is the

customization you can order any flavor

of the full sized omelette to count

towards the challenge so I went with the

veggie omelet they have other varieties

such as meat lovers and lobster and surf

and turf but I wasn't feeling it that

day most likely because we were on a

long drive up north through the rain

what I liked best was how cheesy omelet

was you can see some intense chief

pulling going on through the video right

I thought that was pretty cool so as

long as I hit the hole on let the side

of hash browns and the two slides of the

toast Ivey declared a winner and get my

pick on the wall there's no refund

unfortunately so in any event I paid

about fourteen dollars for this meal

if I wanted to really go for broke I

could probably eat three or four of

these almost meals in a sitting having

to pay for them all convinced me not to

because I can take a much better way to

spend 50 bucks besides driving 300 miles

while extremely full is very fun in any

event I wanted to spread word about this

challenge because I don't really see it

posted around online just let me know

and only if you scour through their

pictures to figure out they have some

sort of wall of fame I kept searching

around some more and finally I found a

reference to their challenge on the

Facebook page I felt like some sort of

food challenge detective searching

around for info so when I drive up north

I made sure to stop by crazy autos and

Lancaster to make sure it was for real

and it was getting from Victorville to

Lancaster we actually drove through a

very intense sandstorm and found that we

got rain in Lancaster but the server to

manager were really nice at crazy autos

and even though setting up my camera was

probably really annoying to some of the

diners and it made it hard for people to

walk around I appreciated that they let

me film there it's that kind of

hospitality that you don't find every

day

Even if they don't send their child to Anasazi, what could they do to actually help a child

that they're concerned with and struggling with.

And I always tell them: "Look, you've got to find a way to connect with them.

You've got to find a way to make sure that they know that you care about them deeply."

And so, too often we're focused on correction.

We're just, we're at that correction level all the time and I say: "Mom and Dad, let's

move a little bit deeper.

Let's listen a little longer.

Let's try and build a relationship with them.

Let's make sure that we're looking for their greatness."

Because, look, when I'm looking for a child's greatness, I'm not thinking about me anymore.

And even in their struggles, I can find their greatness, right?

And it keeps me outside of myself.

It keeps me in a way that's not giving them justification.

So, our love is irresistible and yes, can a child resist it and behaviorally resist

it and walk away from me continually?

Yes, but it's still ringing in their ears that someone cares about them.

Somebody really cares about them.

And again, that's the best chance, the best chance they're ever going to turn back around.

I always tell parents: "Don't ever allow your child to leave the home when they're cut off

from you."

That's the worst place for them to be, because then they can just use you to justify their

behavior.

Make sure that when they leave the home it's ringing in their ears that you really, really

care about them.

That you love them deeply and that you hope in every way that they'll make the kind of

choices that will help them grow and accomplish the great things that are ahead of them in

their life.

But you're always there with your arms open to help things go right.
