COURSE THERE IS A LOT OF NEWS CIRCLING AROUND REGARDING

CERTAIN ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS, AND HOW THEY WOULD BE CUT,

WHILE OF COURSE THE WEALTHIEST WOULD GET THEIR TAX CUTS.

BUT OF COURSE, THERE IS ENOUGH ATTENTION ON HOW MUCH

DAMAGE HE COULD DO IF CONGRESS ALLOWS HIM TOWARD EDUCATION.

SO, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT HE IS FOCUSING ON CUTTING IS A

COURSE FUNDING TOWARDS EDUCATION.

HE WANTS TO CUT THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS FUNDED BY $9

BILLION, OR 13% OF THE BUDGET APPROVED BY CONGRESS LAST MONTH.

KEEP IN MIND, CONGRESS IS NOT VERY GENEROUS TOWARDS

EDUCATION, SO FURTHER CUTS WOULD BE DISASTROUS TOWARDS ñ

FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS AND GRADESCHOOL STUDENTS.

HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF THE DOLLARS WOULD GO TOWARDS

CHARTER SCHOOL AND VOTER INITIATIVES, WHILE ANOTHER

$1 BILLION IN GRANTS WHEN ENCOURAGE STATES TO A TWO ñ

TO ADOPT SCHOOL CHOICE POLICIES.

I THINK I WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH BETSY DEVOS, WHO

HAS BEEN AN ADVOCATE FOR CHARTER SCHOOLS AND SO-CALLED

SCHOOL CHOICE.

ON A GRADE SCHOOL LEVEL, THIS COULD HAVE VERY NEGATIVE

RAMIFICATIONS IN THE FUTURE, CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT

AS SOON AS EVERYTHING IS PRIVATIZED, NOBODY IS GOING

TO GIVE YOU VOUCHERS.

SO, IF YOU ARE POOR AND YOU CAN'T AFFORD PRIVATE EDUCATION

I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN.

BUT THIS ALSO IMPACTS COLLEGE EDUCATION, BECAUSE THE

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GIVING OUT

THINGS LIKE PELL GRANTS, SUBSIDIZING STUDENT LOANS,

THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT STUDENT LOAN DEBT HAS SURPASSED

CREDIT CARD DEBT, AND WILL NOW ñ AND WE ARE NOW MORE THAN $1.3

TRILION DOLLARS IN DEBT WITH STUDENT LOANS, THIS COULD

BE A HUGE PROBLEM.

SO, EISENHOWER TALKED ABOUT, AS HE WAS LEAVING, THAT EVERY

DOLLAR WE SPEND ON GUNS, OR BOMBS, OR AIRPLANES TO DROP

THOSE BOMBS, AND I'M WILDLY PARAPHRASING HERE, IS A CRIME

AGAINST A PERSON WHO IS NOT FED WHEN THEY ARE HUNGRY, AND A

CHILD WHO DOESN'T GET AN EDUCATION, ETC.

YOU SHOULD READ THE ACTUAL QUOTE, IT IS MUCH BETTER

THAN I JUST SAID.

ONE OF THE REASON THEY ARE SLASHING ALL THESE BUDGETS,

AND SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICAID, IS BECAUSE THEY

NEED TO INCREASE SPENDING ON DEFENSE.

SO, TRUMP SAYS THAT EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE THE LARGEST DEFENSE

DEPARTMENT IN HISTORY OF THE WORLD ñ

WE LAPSE OTHER NATIONS AND HOW MUCH WE SPEND ñ

HE IS GOING TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON DEFENSE, AND IN ORDER TO

DO THAT HE HAS TO MAKE CHOICES, HARD CHOICES.

SO HE SAYS, YOUR KIDS ñ SOME OF THEM, BECAUSE OF THE PELL

GRANT LOSSES, ETC. ñ ARE NOT GOING TO GET AN EDUCATION.

BECAUSE THE DEFENSE CONTRACTORS HAVE TO GET PAID ñ I MEAN,

WE HAVE TO BE "SAFER" BY PALMING MORE MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES,

EVEN HAS NOT MADE US SAFER AT ALL, AS WE SEE BOMBS GOING

OFF HERE AND IN PLACES LIKE THE UK ñ THAT'S OUR ALLIES, RIGHT?

I AM WHAT YOU TAKE FROM YOUR KIDS ANYWAY.

THEY DON'T GET TO LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM, WHAT DO I CARE?

I'M DONALD TRUMP, I INHERITED $200 MILLION, I DON'T CARE, SO

I'M GOING TO BURN THE BRIDGE AFTER ME.

AND BETSY DEVOS AND HER BUDDIES IN PRIVATE EDUCATION?

ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS ISN'T ONLY GOING TO IMPACT

PEOPLE THAT GO TO TRADITIONAL COLLEGES.

ONE THING I DONALD TRUMP, AND AT LEAST REPUBLICANS IN

GENERAL, FOR TENDED TO CARE ABOUT, WAS SUPPORTING TRADE

SCHOOLS, AND EDUCATION THAT IS MORE FOCUSED ON A SPECIFIC

PROFESSION, AS OPPOSED TO GOING TO A TRADITIONAL FOUR SCHOOL

COLLEGE ñ FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE, AND THEN GRAD SCHOOL AND ALL THAT.

BUT UNDERSTAND THAT HE WANT TO CUT FUNDING FOR THOSE TRADE

SCHOOLS AS WELL.

WANT TO CUT STATE GRANTS FOR CAREER AND EDUCATION BY 166

MILLION, AND NEARLY HALF THE FUNDING ñ HAVE THE FUNDING

FOR THE ROUGHLY $1 BILLION FEDERAL WORK-STUDY PROGRAM.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS BOOTSTRAPPED.

THEY PRETENDED TO SUPPORT THAT, BUT WHEN YOU WEREN'T

LOOKING, THEY CUT IT.

SO, $9 BILLION IN CUTS TO EDUCATION IS DEVASTATING,

AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE GOING TO GET, AND AT THIS

POINT BECAUSE DONALD TRUMP IS IN CHARGE ñ NOT JUST DONALD

TRUMP, BY THE WAY, THESE ARE REPUBLICAN PRIORITIES.

SO, YOU THINK IT IS GOOD TO GET BETTER AFTER DONALD TRUMP GETS

PUT IN PRISON, AND MY PANTS GETS MADE PRESIDENT?

MIKE PENCE AGREES WITH HIS PRIORITIES.

KEEP IN MIND, OUR JOBS, SOME OF

THEM ARE BEING OUTSOURCED, YES,

BUT A LOT OF JOBS ARE BEING TAKEN OVER BY AUTOMATION, AND SO

THERE IS A NEED FOR TECHNICAL TRAINING.

THERE IS A NEED FOR THESE CAREER, EDUCATION

INSTITUTIONS WHERE PEOPLE CAN GET THE TRAINING TO GET THE

ADDITIONAL SKILLS TO ADAPT TO AN EVER EVOLVING JOB MARKET.

CUTTING EDUCATION FOR ñ

FUNDING FOR THAT IS SUCH A DISASTROUS IDEA, AND UNDERSTAND

THIS IS NOT COMING FROM A SO-CALLED DOUBLE PERSPECTIVE.

THIS IS COMING FROM HIS VOTERS; HIS VOTERS LOVE THESE TRADE

SCHOOLS, HIS VOTERS ARE IN FAVOR OF THESE TRADE SCHOOLS,

THEY THOUGHT HE WAS IN SUPPORT OF THEM AND WANTED TO FUND

THEM BUT HE IS DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

THIS IS JUST A PROPOSAL, AND KEEP IN MIND THAT EVEN SOME

REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS AREN'T IN FAVOR OF HIS BUDGET

IDEAS, SO WE WILL SEE HOW WOULD THIS PLAYS OUT WITH

CONGRESS, BUT JUST KNOWING THAT THE LEADER OF THIS COUNTRY DOES

NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING.

Eminem and Justin Timberlake Raise Over $2 Million for Manchester Terror Attack Victims - Duration: 1:00.

Following the attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, several celebrities have stepped

up to help make a difference for the attack victims and their families.

Eminem is one of the big names helping lead the way on that front.

He shared a link on his Twitter page to a fund set up by the Manchester Evening News

and British Red Cross, imploring followers to join him in donating money to help

Another artist who chipped in to raise awareness for the cause is Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake and Eminem have over 80 million Twitter followers between the two of them,

and with voices like theirs behind the cause, over $2.3 million—has already been raised

to assist families affected by the attack.

Neither artist's donation has been disclosed publicly, but their work here is a more important

collaboration than anything they could do musically.

What Comic Fans Know About Star-Lord That You Don't - Duration: 4:26.

Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy know one thing for sure: Peter Quill is a pretty gnarly dude.

With a name like Star-Lord, it's pretty much a moral imperative to become a kick-butt space

adventurer.

But is there more to Quill than meets the eye?

Here's what comic fans know about Star-Lord that you don't.

Star-Lord's nickname is ironic

Every hero needs a code-name, even if it's one you make up for yourself that nobody else

uses or has even heard of.

"Star-Lord."

"Who?"

In the comics, though, the name is an ironic one, as Quill's dad is literally a star lord

named J'Son, ruler of Spartax.

He wants Quill to follow in his footsteps, but Quill nopes out of it, keeping the name

as a bit of a middle finger to dad.

Star-Lord has 3 different origin stories

There are two routes you can go with superhero origins.

Either you can have one origin that you retell ten billion times, like Batman and his perpetually

dying parents, or you can just have a whole bunch of different, conflicting origins to

keep things interesting.

That's the case with Star-Lord, who has had three different backstories.

Originally, he was an astronaut who ended up becoming a spacecop.

That was tweaked later, introducing the idea that he joined the galactic pirates known

as the Ravagers before becoming Star-Lord.

And then there's the movie version, which swipes elements from both while giving him

a totally different dad in the form of Kurt Russell.

At least none of Star-Lord's origin stories involve slow motion pearls.

He wasn't originally a Guardian of the Galaxy

When Star-Lord first appeared, he had nothing to do with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In fact, that's the case for every single one of the film's characters with the exception

of Yondu.

He was one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy when they first debuted way back in

1969.

It wasn't until 2008 that Star-Lord ended up putting together a new team of Guardians

alongside Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax.

"They call themselves The Guardians of the Galaxy."

"What a bunch of a-holes."

Gamora and Peter aren't an item

In the movies, there's a clear will they - won't they flirtation between Star-Lord and Gamora.

But in the comics, you know, not so much.

Gamora has historically been romantically linked to Thanos's archenemy Adam Warlock,

though she also had a thing with the man called Nova, Richard Ryder.

Since he doesn't seem to exist yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that romance is

a long shot on the big screen, but it has a better chance of happening than Peter's

comic book romance with the X-Men's Kitty Pryde.

Since the movie rights to Kitty are tied up at a different movie studio, their love is

tragically doomed.

Hey kids, comics!

One of the great things about comics is that pretty much any random thing the writers can

possibly think of is bound to eventually happen.

So while the adventures of the movie Star-Lord have been pretty weird, the films are nothing

compared to the shenanigans he's gotten up to in the comics.

For instance, at one point he briefly became king of the planet Spartax, while at another

point, he was trapped in an alternate dimension called the Cancerverse where he was unable

to die.

And in a twist the movie version of Peter Quill would no doubt love, in one storyline

he became a professional lounge singer.

Rock on, Star-Lord!

Star-Lord dated his spaceship

Fans of the movie might be aware of the fact that director James Gunn named their ship

The Milano after childhood crush Alyssa Milano.

But in the comics, Star-Lord had a very different ship who was a key part of his adventures

- because the ship was sentient.

Known simply as Ship most of the time, Ship was actually the imprisoned consciousness

of a sentient star named Aurora.

At one point, Ship managed to gain physical form and totally made out with Star-Lord before

her body was destroyed and she just became a starship again.

That's… kind of creepy.

There was another Star-Lord

It might be hard to imagine anyone but Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, but during a brief stint

in the mid-'90s, a totally different character took up the name.

While Peter Quill was out of action, a psychic space cop named Sinjin Quarrel found Ship

and Star-Lord's gear and basically appropriated everything for himself.

Apparently when it comes to superhero codenames, finders keepers, losers weepers.

"Hey!

If it isn't Star-Prince."

"It's Star-Lord."

"Oh, sorry.

Lord.

I picked this guy up awhile back for petty theft.

He's got a codename!"

Consciousness Is a Narrative Created by Your Unconscious Mind | Dean Buonomano - Duration: 4:20.

Dean Buonomano: Okay but let me, I'll try to add a bit more on consciousness.

So consciousness is one of the deepest mysteries that we have never attempted to resolve.

And part of the problem with studying consciousness if that it's very difficult to measure.

But we do have some insights and for one in the context of how the brain tells time there's

evidence that consciousness is not really what it seems to be.

So what I mean by that is we feel our subjective experiences unfolding in the world around

us in sort of this linear narrative in which A follows B follows C and follows D in which

we experience the world.

I should say that again.

In which B follows A and in which C follows B and D follows C in which things are happening

in a linear progression.

But in reality it seems that our subjective experiences, our conscious narrative might

not be that linear.

So there's a number of experiences or experiments that suggest that the brain processes information

in sort of a discontinuous and discrete manner.

So it's not that I'm conscious of everything happening in a nice linear progression.

It seems to be in some cases that what happens after interferes or modulates what our conscious

experience of those things that came before.

So it seems that in some cases that things that happen after an event can alter our conscious

of what happened before.

So there's something called the cutaneous rabbit illusion in which if you feel a couple

of taps on your arm maybe one, two, three, four people will feel that as sort of a continuous

progression.

But in reality that can't be a continuous progression because it's the taps that came

later that determined where you felt that the previous taps were occurring.

And if you think of something like speech you're probably not aware of my speech in

a syllable by syllable, word by word manner.

It seems to be that we become conscious of events around us sort of in chunks in which

you're unconscious mind reaches a point of analysis by taking and sampling everything

that's happening around it before a subjective experience is delivered into your conscious

mind.

So I think there's some suggestions that the unconscious brain is continuously taking

in, sampling events through its sensory organs waiting to appropriate points in the narrative

to deliver something, a nice narrative of the world around us into our conscious mind.

So in the case of speech, for example, we don't have an experience of every syllable

by syllable, every word by word.

But sometimes we have this chunking that happens.

So, for example, if I say the mouse pad was beside the computer in that case the mouse

could have another meaning.

The mouse could mean a rodent or it could be the mouse pad of a computer.

But you only knew the meaning of the word mouse with the word in this case that came

after the word mouse.

So the mouse pad.

I could have said the mouse was hungry.

So the meaning of the word mouse can only be understood based on what comes after that.

So it seems that when people understand that they might have to wait until the appropriate

time to create a conscious perception or a conscious interpretation of what we're listening

to.

So I think there's mounting evidence that consciousness is not a linear flow of what's

happening around us but sort of a creation, a narrative, a convenient narrative of what's

happening around us created for our viewing pleasure by the unconscious brain.

Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and a senior adviser in the White House, is

under FBI scrutiny as part of the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and

the Trump campaign, NBC News reported.

The report, which cited numerous unnamed U.S. officials, said investigators think that Kushner,

who is married to Trump's daughter Ivanka, has substantial information relevant to the

investigation.

This does not mean that officials necessarily suspect him of a crime or intend to charge

him, the report said.

On "The Story" tonight, Newt Gingrich pointed out that Kushner was assigned the

job of meeting with Russian officials and bankers by then President-elect Trump, so

he wasn't doing anything secretive or surreptitious.

Gingrich also noted that there's not a single named source for the story, much like The

Washington Post report last week that claimed a senior White House official close to the

president was described as a "person of interest" in the Russia probe.

"I find that, frankly, sickening," Gingrich said, explaining that these reports are distracting

from Trump's "amazing, historic" foreign trip.

"How do you know any of it's true?"

Gingrich asked.

He added that if the leakers are involved in former FBI Director Robert Mueller's

investigation, he should be enraged.

"He ought to lock somebody up," Gingrich said.

"The people who leaked the British story were not in the White House.

They were in the intelligence community, and they ought to go to jail."

hey guys how are you doing so today is

Saturday I hope you guys had a great

Saturday you will of course be seeing

the clips of my training from today but

I just want to kind of explain for real

this time no joke what I actually

focused on today so what I focused on

today was 360 dive rolls so I think it's

pretty easy to understand what exactly

that means but I'll just kind of give a

quick explanation of it right so a dive

roll is where you dive you land hands

first guide your body from your hands

down your arm to your shoulder and you

roll right it's a shoulder roll not over

your head not a somersault

but with your head tucked outside and go

over the shoulder shoulder to hip now

the 360 type roll is you do a dive roll

that you spin 360 degrees as you dive

and then you land hands first and guide

yourself blah blah blah roll right so

today this is what I focused on I was

trying to learn this we started working

on these in class on Thursday night and

it's something I want to get because

it's actually really cool and it feels

really good once you do kind of get it

right so this is what I focused on for

today now there were a few times today

that I actually got it pretty well and

it felt good like I could feel it was

getting there but for the most part it

wasn't really the greatest and I'm still

trying to figure it out and figure out

how it works for myself right so

unfortunately today I wasn't really able

to get it working right or do it you

know like train the way I wanted to kind

of thing and there is one small little

thing that just kind of like threw me

off and ruined my entire mood so there

were these two kids there me and my

friend and I were trying to practice this

right and then these two kids were

wanting to use the same thing so you

know all four of us were sharing totally

fine no problem right so my friend goes

and he does his thing and then I go and

I do I do mine and it's a fail right I

fail all the time and I do not have a

problem with failing you have to fall

and you have to fail it before like to

figure things out before you can

actually succeed now usually when I fail

something I just laugh it off because

it's funny it's funny to me it makes me

laugh and it does not bother me

whatsoever it used to when I was first

starting but now I couldn't care less

but one of those kids kept saying every

time I failed he kept saying you failed

you failed stop hitting the blue mat you

failed and all of this right like it just

kept going on and on and on and it got

annoying and it was literally ruining my

self-esteem and ruining my mood for the

entire thing so finally the one time he

said it I'm just like kay you need to stop

saying whatever about me failing okay

because when you keep telling someone

that they're failing it doesn't make

them easy for them it doesn't make it

easy for them to continue doing it and

to feel good about it I could just it

really upset me so that's a little

unfortunate thing from today but I mean

I still I still had a lot of fun today

felt a bit off because of that and

probably because of other things I don't

know so before I continue talking and

rambling on and on here are the parkour

It was in 1979,

when Pope St. John Paul II

made his first visit to the United States

as our Holy Father.

And I remember at his Mass in Grand Park in Chicago

in his homily, as he was speaking in his homily,

the crowd would erupt with joy.

And he was quoting from this Gospel today

at the end of his homily and he was assuring us

that Jesus is always with us.

That no matter what happens, that he's always by our side,

again giving us encouragement

for the time when he would leave.

And I remember John Paul saying,

quoting from Matthew's Gospel.

He said, in the midst of all this clapping that was going on

and he goes "And behold, I am with you always

until the end of the age."

And the crowd burst with a thunderous applause,

many of them thinking John Paul was speaking about himself.

Thinking this is the end coming.

That when John Paul goes,

it's gonna be the end of the world.

I remember some people interpreting it that way.

And of course they loved him so much.

He was such a young man at that time.

He was my age, I think.

A few years older than I was then,

than I am when he was made the Holy Father.

And it was that sense there though,

that even the people who were there felt a confidence.

Now we know he wasn't speaking literally about his life,

but that of Jesus.

So even today, as we celebrate this Ascension,

we see that Jesus is lifted up

and he's taken from the sight

of his followers.

But he didn't leave them.

Just by sight he was no longer seen

as they were familiar with him.

But he remained with them

and he always remains with us.

He said, "I am with you always"

and that not only means in time, always forever,

but it means all ways, in every circumstance,

I am with you always, until the end of the age.

It's good for us to remember that

when bad things happen to good people.

Because it is at those times that we may feel

that the Lord has left us.

When we feel those empty times.

For the many years in the life of St. Theresa of Calcutta

when she felt that the Lord left her,

when she had this dryness in her spiritual life,

sometimes even questioning whether or not God existed.

And I'm so happy that we hold her up as an example.

Pope St. John Paul II, through his ministry as Holy Father,

kept on affirming people and assuring them,

you know of God's love for us.

And through his ministry, we know the fall of Communism,

because of him preaching God's love

and encouraging people not to lose heart,

especially when he went to Poland.

You see, God is with us always, all time,

and in all ways, in every circumstance.

So he didn't leave us, he never did.

He's with us, always at our side,

always within us.

May we remember that.

May we then live as his disciples.

When he told and gave them command,

we gotta do something now.

He's leaving us physically in sight,

but through his love, we are to go out

and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit.

So every time we go to a Baptism,

every time at Easter vigil

when we bring people into the church,

that's God giving us new life.

That's us fulfilling the command that he gave us,

to go forth and baptize.

So we're doing his work by following that command

to go and make disciples of all nations.

And while we may not be able to baptize every single soul,

we can baptize with the love of the Holy Spirit,

so that people can have

an encounter of God's love through us.

A little touch of baptism

and hopefully they will encounter the Lord,

who on this day ascended, but did not leave us.

And so within our Easter season we once again renew

our promises of baptism and so I ask you to respond

with a resounding I do as I ask you

do you renounce sin,

so as to live in the freedom of the children of God?

- Do you renounce the lure of evil,

so that sin may have no mastery over you?

- [Congregation] I do.

- Do you renounce Satan, the author and prince of sin?

- [Congregation] I do.

- Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty,

by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dew fall,

so that they may become for us

the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed

and entered willingly into his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to his disciples, saying,

"Take this, all of you, and eat of it,

"for this is my body,

"which will be give up for you."

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more giving thanks,

he gave it to his disciples, saying,

"take this, all of you, and drink from it,

"for this is the chalice of my blood,

"the blood of the new and eternal covenant,

"which will be poured out for you and for many

- Therefore, as we celebrate

the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,

we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
