Youtube daily report May 24 2017

TWO NEO-NAZIS WERE MURDERED IN FLORIDA, AND THE STORY TOOK MANY

DIFFERENT TURNS AFTER THE INVESTIGATORS FOUND

EXPLOSIVES ON THE ñ AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME.

THERE WERE FOUR SO-CALLED ANALYSES LIVING TOGETHER AT THIS

PLACE, AND AT ONE POINT THE SUSPECT, WHO HAS BEEN CHARGED

WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, DEVON ARTHURS IS HIS NAME, APPARENTLY

HAD CONVERTED TO ISLAM, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD SURPRISED

WITH THIS NEO-NAZI IDEOLOGY.

NOW, AFTER HE HAD DONE SO, NATURALLY HIS NEO-NAZI

FRIENDS WERE DISRESPECTING HIS NEWFOUND FAITH.

YOU THINK?

SO, AS A RESULT HE DECIDED TO MURDER THEM.

AFTER HE MURDERED THEM, HE ACTUALLY WENT TO A STORE, AND

BASICALLY HELD HOSTAGES; AUTHORITIES SHOWED UP FIVE

MINUTES LATER, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT THEN, BUT ARTHURS DID

LET THE COPS KNOW THAT HE HAD KILLED TWO PEOPLE THAT HE

WAS LIVING WITH.

AT THAT POINT, AUTHORITIES SHOWED UP TO THE SCENE OF

THE CRIME, AND THEY FOUND A 21-YEAR-OLD

BY THE NAME OF BRANDON RUSSELL.

HE IS ACTUALLY PART OF THE FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD.

NOW, WHEN THEY STARTED INVESTIGATING, AND THEY

LOOKED INTO THE PARK ñ INTO THE APARTMENT TO SEE IF THEY

COULD FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF THE CRIME ñ AND OF COURSE THEY

FOUND THE BODIES OF THE TWO VICTIMS ñ AUTHORITIES ACTUALLY

FOUND EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS, OR MATERIALS TO MAKE EXPLOSIVES.

"INVESTIGATORS FOUND A COOLER FULL OF A WHITE, TAKE LIKE

EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL KNOWN AS H MTD.

NEARBY, THEY FOUND EXPOSE OF PRECURSORS, CHEMICALS THAT CAN

BE MIXED TO CREATE EXPLOSIVES, INCLUDING POTASSIUM CHLORATE,

POTASSIUM NITRATE, NITRATE ñ NITROMETHANE, AND MORE THAN

A POUND OF AMMONIUM NITRATE IN A PACKAGE ADDRESSED TO RUSSELL."

NOW, RUSSELL SAID THAT HE WAS IN THE USF ENGINEERING CLUB IN

2013, AND USED THE H MTD, IN PART, TO BOOST HOMEMADE

ROCKETS AND TO SEND BALLOONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.

A MEMBER OF THE FBI SAID THAT THESE MATERIALS ARE MUCH

TOO STRONG FOR THE PROJECT THAT HE WAS CLAIMING HE WAS

USING IT FOR, BUT ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT IN HIS BEDROOM,

"INVESTIGATORS DISCOVERED NOT SEE NYT PREMISES

PROPAGANDA, INCLUDING A FRAMED PHOTO OF TIMOTHY MCVEIGH."

I WANT YOU GUYS TO BE CLEAR ON THIS, DEVON ARTHURS IS THE

KILLER, HE IS THE ONE "SUSPECT" WHO HAS ADMITTED TO KILLING

HIS TWO ROOMMATES, WHO HE SAID WERE NEO-NAZIS.

NOW, ONE OF THEIR SISTERS SAYS, NO NO, MY BROTHER WAS A SWEET

NEO-NAZI ñ I MEAN, MY BROTHER WAS A SWEET GUY.

BUT THEY DID FIND NEO-NAZI PARAPHERNALIA ALL OVER THE

APARTMENT.

THE BOMBS IS NOT THE KILLER STOP THE BOMBING EQUIPMENT IS

RUSSELL'S.

RUSSELL IS NOT THE GUY WHO DID THE KILLING, RUSSELL IS THE GUY

WHO THE FBI FOUND CRYING OUTSIDE BECAUSE HIS ROOMMATES ARE DEAD.

RIGHT, HE DISCOVERS HIS TWO DEAD REMAINS AND IS CRYING AS A

RESULT OF THAT.

SO, AGAIN, RUSSELL IS NOT THE ONE SUSPECTED OF MURDER IN

THIS CASE; HOWEVER, HE DID HAVE THE MATERIALS NECESSARY TO

MAKE EXPLOSIVES, AND IT DID SEEM AS THOUGH THERE WAS SOME

QUESTIONABLE INTENT THERE, AND SO HE HAS BEEN CHARGED FOR

HAVING THOSE MATERIALS IN HIS HOME.

YEAH, AND SO, THE FBI EXPERT IS LIKE, NO NO NO, THIS IS

HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL, AND YOU DON'T USE IT FOR BALLOONS.

I MEAN, I WOULD HAVE COME UP WITH A BETTER EXCUSE.

IF YOU'VE GOT NEO-NAZI PARAPHERNALIA ALL OVER, AND

IN SOME OF THE MESSAGES IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE

TALKING ABOUT BOMBING PEOPLE, KILLING PEOPLE, AND YOU GOT A

FRAMED PHOTO OF TIMOTHY MCVEIGH, AND EXPLOSIVES IN YOUR FRIDGE?

AND YOU SAY IT'S FOR BALLOONS?

NOT THE BEST EXCUSE YOU COULD COME UP WITH.

AND REMEMBER, ARTHURS IS THE ONE WHO GOT RUSSELL IN TROUBLE.

HE'S THE ONE WHO DID THE CRIME, SO THE AUTHORITIES SHOWED

UP AND DID AN INVESTIGATION AND FOUND THESE EXPLOSIVE

MATERIALS, AND ARTHURS CONTINUES TO THROW RUSSELL UNDER THE BUS.

HE STATED THAT, "FOR SOME TIME FOR THE MURDERS, HE HAD

BEEN PRIVY TO RUSSELL PARTICIPATING IN ONLINE

NEO-NAZI INTERNET CHAT ROOMS WHERE HE THREATENED TO KILL

PEOPLE AND BOMB INFRASTRUCTURE."

SO, WHY AM I WRINGING THIS STORY UP?

FIRST OF ALL, IT'S INTERESTING TO BEGIN WITH, BUT

SECONDLY, THANKFULLY THE AUTHORITIES WERE ABLE TO

FIND THIS MATERIAL BEFORE IT WAS ACTUALLY PUT TO USE, BUT

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.

THIS IS A MAN WHO WAS IDOLIZING TIMOTHY MCVEIGH, WHO KILLED OVER

100 PEOPLE IN OKLAHOMA; INNOCENT INDIVIDUALS, RIGHT?

HE IS IDOLIZING THAT GUY.

THIS IS THE TYPE OF ACTIVITY THAT NEEDS TO GET SOME TYPE

OF ATTENTION, NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND WE NEED

AUTHORITIES TO FOCUS ON.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY, IN TERMS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND

SECURITY COME ALL THE WAY BACK IN 2009,

THEY GOT RID OF A TEAM THAT FOCUSED ON RIGHT-WING EXTREMISM.

BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT, HEY, YOU KNOW, THE CONSERVATIVES ARE

COMPLAINING ABOUT OUR FOCUS ON THIS ISSUE, SO MAYBE WE

NEED TO RE-SHIFT OUR FOCUS ON TWO OTHER TYPES OF TERRORISM.

BUT THIS IS THE TYPE OF TERRORISM THAT EXISTS IN THE

COUNTRY AND IT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS ISLAMIC TERRORISM.

ANDY ñ IN THE CASE OF ARTHURS, THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN TO

CATCH HIM IF THEY WERE TRACKING NEO-NAZI ACTIVITY.

BY THE WAY, RUSSELL SAID THERE MIGHT BE TWO RADIATION

SOURCES AS WELL INSIDE THE APARTMENT.

BUT ARTHURS WAS PART OF A GROUP THAT TRANSLATED IN GERMAN TO

ATOMIC WEAPONS, AND ACCORDING TO THE ALLEGATIONS, HE WOULD GO TO

A WEBSITE CALLED THE GLOBAL FASCISTS FRATERNITY, WHERE THEY

URGED, QUOTE, RACE WAR NOW!

NOW, WHEN SOMEBODY SAYS RACE WAR, AS WE SAW IN

CHARLESTON, SOMETIMES THEY MEAN IT.

AND, REMEMBER WHEN NEW YORK WOULD INVESTIGATE INNOCENT

AS LIMBS, AND THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING?

THEY WENT THROUGH THEIR MOSQUES, THEY WENT TO THEIR SCHOOLS, THEY

EVEN WENT DOWN TO RUTGERS WHERE THEY DID NOT BELONG, IT

WASN'T THEIR JURISDICTION, AND THEY INVESTIGATE THEM AND

FOUND NOTHING ANYWAY.

WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE ONLINE SAYING LET'S START A RACE

WAR, AND CALL OURSELVES THE ATOMIC WEAPONS, AND IDOLIZE

TIMOTHY MCVEIGH, I WOULD TAKE A PEEK OVER THERE.

I WOULD DO IT LEGALLY, GET WARRANTS, ETC.,

IF IT IS WARRANTED ñ LITERALLY ñ BUT YES, LOOK INTO IT.

AND IF THEY HAD, THEY MIGHT HAVE NOTICED, HUH, THIS NEO-NAZI

KID TURNED INTO A FUNDAMENTALIST MUSLIM.

WHICH IS SO CRAZY.

HE WENT FROM BEING A NEO-NAZI TO ALL OF A SUDDEN BEING ANGRY

ABOUT AMERICAN POLICY WHICH MURDERS INNOCENT CIVILIANS

ABROAD.

WHICH, BY THE WAY, I AGREE WITH THAT, WE SHOULD NOT BE

KILLING INNOCENT CIVILIANS ABROAD, REGARDLESS OF THEIR

POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION.

THE KID IS SUPER UNSTABLE.

HE THEN GETS SO ENGROSSED IN IT THAT HE'S LIKE, WELL, YOU

KNOW, IF YOU GUYS AREN'T GOING TO STOP KILLING PEOPLE IN

MY COUNTRY ON WHAT YOU START KILLING PEOPLE IN YOUR COUNTRY.

DUDE, YOU WERE BORN IN FLORIDA, WHAT COUNTRY ARE YOU

TALKING ABOUT?

OBVIOUSLY RELIGION IS AN IDEOLOGY AND YOU CAN CONVERT

TO IT, SO HE CONVERTED AND HE IS MUSLIM, NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

SOME PEOPLE WILL SAY HE'S NOT A REAL MUSLIM.

I KNOW, NO TRUE SCOTSMAN.

YOU CALL YOURSELF A MUSLIM, YOU ARE A MUSLIM.

BUT IF I AM AN FBI AGENT WHO WAS TRACKING THIS KID IN THE FIRST

PLACE, AND HE IS A NEO-NAZI CLOWN TURNS INTO A MUSLIM

CLOWN, AND HIS ROOMMATE ONLINE IS TALKING ABOUT RACE WARS,

ETC.,

MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE FOUND HIM BEFORE HE DID THE KILLINGS

OF HIS NEO-NAZI BUDDIES.

YEAH, BUT WHAT I ALWAYS HAVE TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING IS

THE USE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE NSA.

THE ARGUMENT THAT PRIVACY ADVOCATES MAKE OVER AND OVER

AGAIN, IF YOU ARE INDISCRIMINATELY COLLECTING ALL

OF THIS DATA, ON EVERY AMERICAN, REGARDLESS OF REASONABLE

SUSPICION, OR PROBABLE CAUSE, YOU JUST COLLECT THE

INFORMATION INDISCRIMINATELY.

YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ALL THIS DATA AND IT BECOMES EVEN

MORE DIFFICULT TO ANALYZE IT, RIGHT?

SO, YOU NEED TO HAVE SOME SORT OF HINT, AT LEAST, THAT SOMEONE

IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND SPY ON THEM.

OR HAVE SOME SUSPICION ABOUT SOMEONE BEFORE YOU SPY ON THEM.

SO, THEY ARE JUST INDISCRIMINATELY ELECTING

ALL THIS INFORMATION, AND ARE WE SAFER?

THEY ARE ABLE TO TAKE PART OF ñ

THEY ARE ABLE TO TAKE PART IN THESE ONLINE FORUMS TALKING

ABOUT KILLING PEOPLE AND IT'S TOTALLY OKAY.

THEY DON'T GET INVESTIGATED.

AND THE STORY CLOSE UP NOW, WHERE TWO PEOPLE HAVE BEEN

MURDERED.

IT IS NOT JUST UN-AMERICAN TO SPY IN ON ALL OF US WHO ARE

INNOCENT, BUT IT IS ALSO INEFFICIENT, TO ANA'S POINT.

IT DOESN'T HELP YOU GET QUICKER TO THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY

MIGHT CAUSE US HARM.

SO START FOCUSING ON THE PEOPLE WHO MIGHT CAUSE US HARM,

AND STOP SPYING ON THE REST OF US.

AND WHEN YOU DON'T, IT LEADS US TO BELIEVE THAT MAYBE THE

SPYING IS TO KEEP US SAFE, BUT TO KEEP YOU SAFE; YOU BEING

THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY IN POWER, AND OF SUMMARY

CHALLENGES YOUR POWER, LO AND BEHOLD WHAT I HAVE ON YOU.

MEANWHILE, THESE NEO-NAZI/MUSLIM FUNDAMENTALIST KIDS ARE

RUNNING ALL OVER FLORIDA.

IT'S AN INTERESTING STORY WHERE YOU HAVE NEO-NAZIS AND RADICAL

MUSLIM FUNDAMENTALISTS TAKING PART IN TERRORIST ACTIVITIES.

FINALLY I WANT TO SAY ON THIS, I DON'T KNOW WHERE WE GOT TO

A POINT IN THIS COUNTRY WHERE FOCUSING ON CERTAIN TYPES

OF TERRORISM BECAME AN IDEOLOGICAL THING.

FEDERAL OFFICIALS SHOULD FOCUS ON TERRORISTIC ATTACK, OR

ATTEMPTED ATTACK, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEIR AFFILIATION IS.

I DON'T CARE IF IT'S MUSLIM, JEWISH, CHRISTIAN, IT

DOESN'T MATTER.

TERRORISM IS TERRORISM, AND WE NEED TO STOP PRETENDING AS

IF ONE IS A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN THE OTHER.

BUT THOSE GUYS ARE MENTAL MAN.

THEY PROBABLY COME IN THEIR PROJECTION, THINK THAT WE

THINK LIKE THEY DO.

THAT WE DON'T WANT THEM TO LOOK INTO MUSLIM TERRORISTS.

OF COURSE WE WANT THEM TO LOOK INTO MUSLIM TERRORISTS, WE

DON'T WANT TO GET BLOWN UP.

JUST WANT THEM TO CONCENTRATE AND FOCUS ON PEOPLE WHO ARE MORE

LIKELY TO BE MUSLIM TERRORISTS, OR NEO-NAZI TERRORISTS, RATHER

THAN...

INNOCENT NEO-NAZIS?

RIGHT, NEO-NAZIS THAT ARE DANGEROUS RATHER THAN

NEO-NAZIS WHO JUST WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES TO PROVOKE

SOME SORT OF REACTION.

RIGHT.

I THINK ARTHURS IS A REALLY INTERESTING SYMBOL OF EXTREMISM.

WHAT DO WE TELL YOU ALL THE TIME?

IT ISN'T ABOUT CHRISTIANITY, OR MUSLIM, OR ISLAM, OR ANY RACE OR

COUNTRY.

IT IS ABOUT FUNDAMENTALS.

ARTHURS WAS A FUNDAMENTALIST.

IS IN HIS NATURE.

HE WAS A FUNDAMENTALIST NEO-NAZI, AND WHEN HE

CONVERTED TO ISLAM HE BECAME A BY THE MENTALIST MUSLIM.

HE WAS GOING TO DO SOME SORT OF VIOLENCE ANYWAY, AND JUST

LIKE ALL OF THEM, LOOKING FOR GLORY.

SO, FIRST HE WAS LOOKING FOR GLORY WITH THE NEO-NAZIS,

AND THEN HE WAS LIKE, I FOUND SOMEONE MORE AGGRIEVED.

I'M GOING TO BE A HERO BY KILLING THOSE NOT THE KIDS.

DON'T GIVE THEM THE GLORY, AND FOCUS ON THE THINGS THAT

PROVIDE US THE REAL SAFETY RISK, WHICH IS FUNDAMENTALISM.

Hi Every one - AVNI here, Welcome to my channel.

Today, In this video - I will be sharing a home made "GEL" or "Hair conditioner"

This Hair Gel is very effective and makes your hair smooth, shiny and silky..

This Gel will nourish your scalp and help with preventing hair shedding & breakage

I am talking about "FLAX SEEDS"..

also known as "ALSI KE BEEJ"

I will be covering in this video - How we can make Gel using Flax seeds and how it can be applier on your hair.

There is a surprise or an important tip at the end of the video - Please do check out the full video!!

Let's go ahead and check out the video..

To start with, I have taken Organic FLAX seeds

you can buy this from any grocery store or even you can order

For this we need, 1/2 cup of Flax seeds

Make sure the quantity you use is same as mine.

Add 2-1/2 cup of water..

In a pot, boil the water and flax seeds until the liquid starts to thicken

It will take around 4-5 minutes..

stirring flax seed often with preferably a wood spoon

After 4-5 minutes, Keep your stove heat on medium heat ..

Keep stirring continuously..

Gel is ready now and can be transferred to the air tight container using a strainer.

It will be lot easier and better to transfer the gel when its little hot..

If you want - you can also use a cotton fabric as a strainer.

you can preserve this GEL for 10-15 days in refrigerator.

If you want to preserve it for longer period (20-25 days) just add 1 tablespoon of any essential oil.

Let me go ahead and apply this oil on my hair.

Comb your hair first and start applying to your scalp all the way to the end of your hair

Flax seeds are the richest sources of a plant-based omega-3 fatty acids which is very helpful for our hair.

This keeps your hair moisturized and prevents dandruff, hair shedding & breakage.

Flax seeds are also a rich source of minerals and vitamins especially Vitamin E which nourishes and promotes hair growth

This will make your hair smooth, shiny and silky.

Leave the Gel on your hair for 3-4 hours.

Or if you want you can leave it overnight and wash it next morning..

After shower - If your hair is dry, you can apply this GEL too instead of using chemical filled gel from market.

You will notice the change first time after using it.

You can thank me later - If you like it :))))

In the surprise section, we will be using the same flax seeds..

These Flax seeds are not only good for hair but even it does wonders for our skin too..

As I mentioned earlier, Flax seeds are the richest sources of a plant-based omega-3 fatty acids..

Flax seed is best known for its high anti-inflammatory levels

Flax seeds are High in Antioxidants

All these properties will help your skin to look good and spotless..

If you use this on your skin on daily basis you will notice a glow on your face.

It works as an anti aging agent

Friends, you can also use this Gel cream as a night cream on your face..

I don't wanna cry

I don't wanna cry

Because I love you, because saying I love you

Isn't enough. no matter what word I say

Leaving me, who cherished only you, where did you go

Did you go far away because you didn't like me any more

Don't play around, I know you're there

I feel like you'll appear, so I wait aimlessly

I need to go find you, go find you

If I cry now, I might not be able to see you so

I don't wanna cry

I don't wanna cry

Although I have a lot of tears

I don't wanna cry

This road that doesn't seem unfamiliar, feels unfamiliar

Asking me once again if this is a road I know of

Could that person be looking for me

I'm looking for you right now

Don't play around, I know you're there

I feel like you'll appear. so I wait aimlessly

I need to go find you, go find you

Tears are building up and start to blur (my vision)

I don't wanna cry

I don't wanna cry

Although I have a lot of tears

I don't wanna cry

I'm okay

(I'm not okay)

I don't wanna see you

(I really want to see you)

These lies that don't even come from my heart

I have to say, say

Because my heart won't listen to these words as I thought

Come back, come back, come back

When half of me is gone, how can I live as one

(I don't wanna cry)

I don't wanna cry

I don't wanna cry

Although I have a lot of tears

I don't wanna cry

I don't wanna cry

Lao students abroad - Duration: 6:42.

At Ton Duc Thang University, we have the best conditions to study

In addition to studying in the classroom,

We are participating in foreign language club

English Zone

Here we are communicating in English

With Vietnamese students

As well as teachers from Western countries

This makes our English a lot better

Later on,

We are confident to communicate fluent English

This is a group lesson with Vietnamese students

In the study, you helped us a lot

What is not understood in the class, we can ask you

You explain very enthusiastic

In addition, you also share, help us understand more about Vietnamese culture

In communication, lifestyle and customs

Ton Duc Thang University students have a lot of collective activities

It is an opportunity for us to exchange and learn

Vietnamese students are always happy, friendly and caring about us

At school, we often participate in physical activities

Soccer is one of the sports that you and your friends play regularly

The stadium is an artificial turf,

High quality, two-star FIFA rating

The pitch of the stadium can accommodate more than 7000 people

This is where we entertain,

To create a solidarity between Lao students

And between Lao students and Vietnamese students

In addition, the school also has a multipurpose gym,

Swimming pool, GYM gym, tennis court, basketball

And outdoor exercise yard

Thanks to that, our students are improving their health and relaxing after school

This is the first International Exchange Day that I attend when I study abroad

So, I'm very nervous, but also very excited

Because of being about to perform traditional Lao dance in front of international friends

I hope the performance will go well

The performance we performed was traditional Lao dance

Dance expresses the culture, life of the Lao people,

Attached to the pan, the Great Flower and the Mekong River

Typical images of Laos

I find the performances in the International Exchange Festival very interesting and meaningful

We hope that in the coming time there will be more opportunities to join international friends

I live in the University dorm, with about 2000 other students

The space here is spacious, airy, fresh, pleasant

In addition to the dormitory there is a sports field and a private student pool

Moreover, dormitories also have mini supermarket, canteen and laundry room

I am very lucky to live in favorable conditions, spacious,

Safe and disciplined

Ton Duc Thang University dormitory also has a common living room

To organize extra activities, entertainment for students

Each floor has a free wifi system and free drinking water for boarding students

Each room has its own toilet,

Each has its own wardrobe, bed, study table and bookcase

All are arranged very conveniently and reasonably

It is important that the rules in the dorm are very tight,

Helps boarding students to practice orderliness and discipline

I feel happy and happy living here

Later Laotian students can be completely assured

With the conditions of study, living and spiritual life

At Ton Duc Thang University,

With the care and care of Vietnamese friends and teachers

Learning Life Lessons While Working For A Gay Escort Service - Duration: 5:03.

My name is Ben Carver.

I'm from New Iberia, Louisiana.

Growing up closeted in the south… it's a difficult situation for many.

When you grow up in a religious context, often the case is that people think that you're

one thing.

But you know if they actually found out about you, that, you know, they'd think that you're

evil, that you're unlovable, and that you're going to hell.

So it was a high priority for me to get out of the south as quickly as possible.

The person that I came out to, straight female that I was roommating with, got a job in Virginia.

And she said, "Hey, I have an extra room.

Why don't you come up and you can make a transition into D.C."

So I didn't even walk for my diploma.

I just had my university mail me mine and I jumped on a plane with a thousand bucks

in my pocket, ready to find my place.

My second or third day in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I was online with the Washington

Blade, which is the gay newspaper here.

And they have online job listings.

So I was perusing and there was a listing that called for an office manager, and it

said, "View website before applying."

So I clicked the URL and it was a gay escort service.

Now, I laughed my ass off.

I thought, you know, I'm the last person that you would expect to do this kind of work.

Fairly conservative, traditional, vanilla person.

I still am, pretty much.

I'm open-minded, but it's basically who I still am.

But I also had graduated with a degree in sociology and I've always been interested

in group dynamics - why people do what they do, particularly deviant behavior - that five

percent that does things differently from everybody else.

So I thought, you know, this would be a great opportunity.

I could actually apply my degree right out of school and make the money I need to actually

transition to DC and live the life that I'd been seeking.

Typical of many office jobs, you show up, you answer a lot of phone calls, people call

and you make sales, you put together dates, as we call it.

But the biggest part of my job was answering phone calls.

One of the first things that I learned that taught me a lot about the community happened

in the context of listening to people.

Everyday, talking to people, telling me things that their shrinks, their priests, even their

wives don't know about their lives.

It also helped me know that I was not alone because they'd tell me about their traumas.

It made me feel like I was… it made me feel like I was part of a community and that I

wasn't alone in facing some of the things that I faced that I was never really able

to talk about.

Escorts would come by the office and they would deposit the money from their jobs and

they would tell me these crazy stories about the situations they would get involved in.

There was one client who would come to an in-call facility, where we would host engagements

between client and escort.

One gentleman, he was morbidly obese.

And often he had a very pungent smell because he couldn't clean himself properly.

And so there were a number of escorts who, when they would meet with him, they would

clean him.

They would literally wash him and move folds of fat and help him to be clean.

I was so blown away by that, the kindness that it took.

And they would never talk about it as something disgusting.

They had a real sense of empathy.

And I saw moments like that, I heard about moments like that over and over again, and

that had a big impact on me and how I saw my community and how one should act.

I worked there for a year and a half.

Ultimately, I had to step away because it wasn't my passion.

It wasn't necessarily what I wanted to do with my life.

But for that period of time, it helped me to get a foothold into D.C. and become the

person that I am now.

I think one of the most important things that I learned from working with sex workers is

the importance of alternative family, and that often as gay people we create our own

families.

And how we might not necessarily get the family we want, but we get the one that we need.

And that even though we can all maybe be a little damaged, that we can still take care

of each other.

Even now, I make a concerted effort to reach out to people and help where I can.

Working with culturally and linguistically diverse CALD communities - Tips for communication - Duration: 3:06.

Make it simple, plain language is good,

because some people can speak actual English

but they just want the language to be lowered.

Where its plain, simple, easy, short sentence

They will be confident - and they will love that worker,

'Oh, he or she's really good."

Most of communication is non-verbal,

so they will pick up on your body language,

but sitting down would be helpful, you're not standing over people,

giving them eye contact

so maybe sit a little bit closer to them,

so that you're along side them rather than opposite.

It is picking up on those cues

from your client around their comfort level, and

that might mean they're needing a greater personal space,

or less eye contact

and more a focus downwards than a focus to them.

It's very different depending on, you know probably the person but also the CALD

background that they come from, and I don't think that, that's not unique to CALD groups,

that's also very relevant to Anglo groups as well.

We would have a lot of our brochures and information

in different languages,

really just in case.

But because it's quite a small number of clients coming

into the service, we would often have to get

those resources at the time depending on the language.

What we've found is that it's really hard

to have all of that information in all of the languages

that come to us as a service.

So we do quite often use a picture resource

that basically we are able to talk through

So, that is a resource that we use when we're talking to victims of family violence,

and there's also a pocket graphic resource that we give to them

to be able to use at a later stage.

In one-on-one situations when we see patients,

we go through each of the four steps

with the person that we see,

and we use a shoe that we think is appropriate,

and we get them to compare the appropriate shoe

to their own shoe and that helps when there's language

barriers because they've got something to hold, to feel and to touch.

The interpreter is there to translate the language that is spoken.

You still look at the patient, you still approach them and make eye contact

as if you were talking to them.

Treat everybody with respect and don't make this about you.

It's not about us this is about someone's life,

you know their diagnosis, their prognosis,

their life from here, their options for treatment.

So, we owe that to them.

Working with culturally and linguistically diverse CALD communities: Steps toward cultural awareness - Duration: 2:54.

So I suppose the term CALD for us is

it's a very broad term but basically it

means it's any client that comes to us

from a background that is non-English

and that can include people who have

come here as refugees, as humanitarian

entrants, on student visas or who have

come on sponsored spousal visas.

The way the health professional works here

and over in Nepal, and Bhutan and India

is different.

With the use of services, there's a lot of barriers,

that include language,

and also the cultural difference. So you don't know how

you are going to present yourself.

With the service providers

the most important this is actually to understand

the lived experience that these people have gone

through and also being culturally aware

of those cultures or values

of people from CALD communities.

It helps to have a little bit of language,

like to learn some really basic terms that

they might use even like hello or g'day in their language.

It just breaks that barrier straight away.

Understanding their lived experience, understanding where they come

from and also knowing that these people

have different culture, they are not used

to this culture, they are still learning.

I think it shows effort if we do a little

bit research and find out a little bit

about their culture which might not even

be accurate because we know cultures

don't say static you know, you might

have learned this information two years

ago and now its another year and things have changed

but it shows the person that you're

interested, that you care enough that

you've gone out of your way to

find something out about them.

You share some of their cultural values, so you have

actually a better understanding of them as

individuals, rather than just providing services

so it is kind of more symbiotic,

they're coming to see you at the same

time they felt that you understood their

culture and you are able actually to provide

them medical advice when it's appropriate.

We all feel anxious when we don't

don't know what we're doing and it is

scary because, I think it's scary because

we care, we don't want to do the wrong

thing because we care and we don't want to

sound rude or insensitive to people but

if you just look at the situation and go

there the human being in front of me

regardless of what culture, religion, language

they speak or come from, they deserve dignity and respect,

then you're pretty right.

For more infomation >> Working with culturally and linguistically diverse CALD communities: Steps toward cultural awareness - Duration: 2:54.

-------------------------------------------

Working with culturally and linguistically diverse CALD communities - Tips and Advice - Duration: 2:41.

I think the fundamental values are all

there, you know, you will be listening and

reading the body language and asking

questions which you would do with anyone really,

and pay respect, but I guess there

are cultural factors that are different

for each community and we do need to be

aware of them. That doesn't mean you will

have to know everything about their

culture, but I guess, there is room to

educate ourselves.

I think it is about welcoming environments and that's

about including those people from those

cultures to create those environments.

We also make sure that we go to relevant

meetings that are happening in Hobart

about who you know what what cultures

are newly arrived so that we can, I guess

have a little bit of that background

knowledge of what the groups that we've

got coming might be experiencing.

If the person is coming to the service for the first time

making sure that you understand their culture first.

It's just warm welcome

have a seat, have a chat, a bit of chat

like warm up.

If I go to access a service then I meet someone who's

trying to do things according to how we are used to

I'm used to then I'll feel more

comfortable - Oh so this person knows me,

knows how things work, you know it's

I think this is very good.

First of all is very important to

understand the client context, you know

historical information about

their family background, what other

issues, cultural sensitive issues

that are more likely to compromise

their care and their treatment.

Getting more information about it, even going to

the website or the internet before

they see the person, Google and

read more about that particular culture.

We normally ask a general question as a

health professional I mean I suppose

that's how we

are trained, to ask questions

to get information, it is very important that we

step little bit out of the box that we

normally ask questions and really try to

understand what sort of question we

might be able to re-frame.

We've also ensured that we've had people come and

do training with staff, so even if it's

people who have all done cultural

responsive training it's not something

that people do once.

-------------------------------------------

Working with culturally and linguistically diverse CALD communities - Case study Community Podiatry - Duration: 4:45.

It was brought to my attention by my

manager that the community clinic has a

lot of different demographic groups and

there was a high rate of diabetes in the

Burmese, Bhutanese and a few of the

other migrant groups.

So we wanted our service to target these

groups better so that we can sort of

catch them early before they get to a

stage where the diabetes is poorly

controlled and their feet tend to get

in poor condition as well.

And then we did some research into which groups we

wanted to work on first and we chose the Burmese group.

So we got in touch with the

Migrant Resource Centre who told us

about the elder for the Burmese community.

We worked with the council to

come up with a plan for the day and

then from there I went back to the

health centre and tried to get a few

others involved in the allied health area

and the idea was to keep the

message really simple, to give them an

idea of what our roles are,

cause a lot of people who haven't heard of what a

podiatrist does, let alone the word

podiatry, so explaining those concepts

and how we could help them.

We had quite good success with the community elder

for the Burmese community.

It was quite easy in this case in that he was fairly

well known and it was a tight-knit community.

So he just said this is

an interesting thing to do, it will be beneficial

to all of you and come along and the

community responded.

So what I found out about the Burmese community

was that they didn't like to wear shoes.

It was culturally acceptable to go around at

home without shoes, to walk outside in

thongs, even in winter it was just

'put your socks on' 'put your thongs on'

'put your slippers on'.

It just wasn't part of their culture,

and shoes were considered dirty as well so

putting it on at home in the house in

a clean environment was not appropriate.

That was an issue for those

with diabetes with no feeling in their

feet, they could step on a piece of glass

and it becomes a big problem later on so

they needed it for protection.

We go through each of the four steps

with person that we see and we use lots of

props and we used an interpreter at the same time.

And we use a shoe that we

think is appropriate and we get them to

compare the appropriate shoe to their

own shoe and that helps when

there's language barriers because

they've got something to hold, to feel and

to touch, and the idea behind it being

that if they can go into a shoe store

and do the same thing with the shoes on

the shoe store, they'll be getting a more

appropriate shoe.

If the person could show me that they could do

these four tests and understood, we were winning

in that sense, yeah.

I guess the top tips would be to do your research.

To really get to know the target audience,

or a target community, and it

helps to have a little bit of language

like to learn some really basic terms

that they might use even like 'hello' or 'g'day'

in their language.

It just breaks that barrier straight away.

Misconceptions as well, often with the

referrals that we get, there's quite a

clear idea of what the referrers want to

get from us. So with me it's usually

patients not wearing good shoes; can you help with

footwear education to prevent diabetes complications.

So straight away I know what the cultural issues are

and I can do some research into the community

to try and work out how to address that barrier,

and networking, using the resources we already have.

I mean, the Royal's got the migrant resource officer,

got the Migrant Resource Centre,

that has access to all these different elders.

The councils have good information and the

interpreter services so

being aware of the services

probably helps to cater for the groups

The role of the interpreter, I guess is to really

communicate, you know it's a medium between

the doctor, whoever the treating team is,

is the doctor and the client.

Firstly when I meet with the health

professional and along with the client,

I will explain my job, my role, that

I am bound by rules and regulations.

I'm getting paid, I'm not allowed to disclose

your information even with my wife, mum,

dad and my kids.

What is really important when we're using an interpreter

is that the worker really needs to

initially, and what we've learnt, that

they need to brief the interpreter,

so that it's really important before

anything commences that there's a

brief conversation with the

interpreter that says the purpose of

this contact is A, B, C, D.

I'm not comfortable with English.

They always call an interpreter to help me understand.

Some of the mistakes that we've made

I guess in the past have been

getting a family member

to interpret, and even though

they have the best intentions and they

might speak better English than the patient,

their medical knowledge might not be

there and it's just a breach obviously.

The other thing that we've learnt is

because CALD communities, their networks

can be far-reaching but also very connected.

We need to check with our

client when we have that interpreter

"Are you okay with this interpreter?".

Gender-wise you need to be very, very sensitive.

If they ask me to interpret with

a female interpreter and it is with a

violence, sexuality or anything I would not do the jobs.

Because she may not disclose the full

information, because I am a male interpreter.

So I would suggest them to

give her a female interpreter to get good information.

If you say ten words and

they say a hundred, that's okay, there's

no need to panic, languages are different

and they're probably trying to get the

idea across the best way they can.

We need to identify specifically what this person requires,

If it is Sudanese Arabic, you need Sudanese Arabic

which means interpreter from Sudan.

So not from Syria or not from Iraq

or not from Lebanon.

My advice again would be to just do it! It's going to be

hard and it's anxiety-provoking probably if you've never done it, but just pick up the phone

and ask them to come in and

not using a website or you know Google Translate

to try and communicate with

someone who doesn't speak the language -

only because it doesn't actually work,

I've tried it myself and it comes up with weird

stuff, that's got nothing to do

with what you're trying to say.

Adele - All I Ask Cover Eka Sharif - Duration: 4:33.

I will leave my heart at the door

I won't say a word

They've all been said before you know.

So, why don't we just play pretend?

Like we're not scared of what is coming next

Or scared of having nothing left.

Look, don't get me wrong

I know there is no tomorrow

All I ask is if

This is my last night with you?

Hold me like I'm more than just a friend

Give me a memory I can use

Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do

It matters how this ends.

Cause what if I never love again?

I don't need

Your honesty

It's already in your eyes

And I'm sure my eyes they speak for me

No one knows me like you do

And since you're the only one that matters

Tell me who do I run to?

Look, don't get me wrong I know

There is no tomorrow

All I ask is if

This is my last night with you?

Hold me like I'm more than just a friend

Give me a memory I can use

Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do

It matters how this ends

Cause what if I never love again?

Let this be our lesson in love

Let this be the way we remember us

I don't wanna be cruel or vicious

And I ain't asking for forgiveness

All I ask

Is if

This is my last night with you?

Hold me like I'm more than just a friend

Give me a memory I can use

Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do

It matters how this ends

Cause what if I never love again?
