Hi, and welcome to a new taste test video!
Today we're testing 3 new milkshakes; two from Tine and one from Cocio.
I'm going to share a background story first, because I waited a long time for these to be available at the store.
I couldn't find them in any shops near me.
The milkshakes were part of the new spring collection by Tine that I tried in a previous video,
but for some reason the stores didn't seem to carry the milkshakes.
But then I read on Tine's facebook page, and there were a lot of people in the comment section asking about the milkshakes-
because they couldn't find them either.
I noticed that Tine replied by saying the only store that carried the milkshakes were Coop,
so I decided to go to Coop Extra - which is the store we have in my town.
It's a bit far from where I live so I'm not there that often.
When I went there I finally found at least one of the two milkshakes that I wanted to try.
And that is the "Litago Shake" with chocolate & caramel flavor.
I noticed they didn't have the strawberry & banana milkshake, which I thought was strange.
I thought maybe it was just sold out because I know a lot of people have been waiting for a banana milkshake,
but there wasn't an empty row next to the other milkshake, so maybe the store decided to only carry one flavor.
I thought it was kind of stupid making a video of just one milkshake, so I was disappointed that I couldn't find them both.
But then I found a different milkshake from Cocio.
They produce a chocolate milk that I don't really care for,
but now they've come out with a milkshake with caramel & biscuit flavor.
I thought that sounded delicious because I'm very fond of caramel.
So I figured I'd try this one as well, so that I at least have 2 milkshakes to try out.
Then I remembered we have a Narvesen kiosk in town that often carry new products.
They're also don't rely on... (procurer?) like grocery stores do.
Some companies decides what brands the stores are allowed to carry,
but Narvesen is privately owned(?) (I'm not sure) but I think they are independent and can order whatever products they want.
So I decided to go there and see if they had the milkshakes-
and they actually did. They had both the milkshakes from Tine.
I was finally able to get my hands on the other milkshake with strawberry & banana flavor.
I'll go through the prices really quick.
The first Tine milkshake I bought at Coop was 18,60kr
while Cocio was 17,90kr, so a bit cheaper.
The milkshake I bought at Narvesen cost 20kr.
A bit more expensive than the grocery store, which is to be expected, but not too bad at all.
I'll try the strawberry & banana milkshake first.
I think it's best to try the two caramel milkshakes after each other.
I'll read the ingredients.
It says it contains 200ml, but when it's ready to drink (when you've shaken it) it becomes 300ml.
And the ingredients are: skimmed milk, 4% sugar,
emulsifier (lactic acid esters of mono- and diglyceride from fatty acids)
Whatever that means.
Whey powder, stabilizer, aroma and beetroot concentrate.
Why is there beetroot concentrate in this?!
What the fuck.
OK, now I'm curious to try this.
Then you have to shake it.
I've shaken it for more than 20 seconds and I feel like it's different from the old milkshakes.
When you shaked the old milkshakes for about 15 seconds they foam up so much that you can't really hear the shaking anymore.
And this one I've shaken for more than 20 seconds and it still moves around a lot.
So maybe it doesn't foam up as much as the other ones?
I think the lid is new as well. It's all over the top, not just where the sip part is.
Smells of delicious strawberry.
I'll pour it into a glass so we can see the color.
Maybe in front of the camera! Heh.
Very nice light pink color.
A little bit of foam on top. Not too much.
I'll smell it some more first.
Smells of artificial strawberry. Mmmm!
I even smell the banana.
It smells amazing! Let's try it.
There was a lot more foam than I thought.
It just doesn't show too well because the color is so light.
It doesn't taste much... It smells more than it tastes.
Very mild flavor. Tastes mostly of strawberry. Not too much banana.
I feel a bit sad for the people that have been waiting for a banana milkshake.
I think they'll be disappointed!
There was a lot of foam, actually. Almost just air.
I probably shouldn't have shaken it as much as I did.
The flavor is too mild for me. Can't really say that I taste the banana.
There is some banana after taste, but it tastes mostly of strawberry.
It's almost like a thick strawberry milk, instead of a milkshake. I don't know...
I'm not a fan...
I have to say that I'm not a big fan of strawberry in general. At least not in dairy products.
I think I've tasted enough of this.
My conclusion is that I think the flavor is too mild. It doesn't taste much of banana. And it's a bit too thick, maybe?
So in my case I give this a dice roll of...
2!
I think if there's someone who really likes strawberry they'd give it a dice roll of 3.
Next we're going to try the chocolate & caramel flavor, which is more my kind of style.
The ingredients are skimmed milk, 4% sugar, 1% cocoa,
whey powder, the same emulsifier, stabilizer and aroma.
And it says that the stabilizer is carrageenan and xanthan gum* (rubber*)
That doesn't sound very nice, but I won't prejudge since I don't really know what it is.
Very nice that they have actual cocoa in it.
I'll try not to shake it as much as the other milkshake.
Smells like...regular chocolate milk...
For now.
Pour it in a glass.
Very thick.
Not a lot of foam...or?! Or is all of this foam, the part where you see the air bubbles?
Kind of hard to say.
Let's smell it some more.
Ugh, I feel like this will taste very mild too.
Now I'm prejudging again.
It smells like diluted cocoa.
Or like chocolate ice cream that has melted in the sun.
I hope it tastes better than it smells!
What does it taste like?!
It tastes of something weird...that I don't know what is.
It's not bad, but it's not like anything I was expecting.
It kind of reminds me of the "Litago Kanelsnurr" only with a chocolate flavor added to it.
Like if there was a chocolate cinnamon bun.
I think both the milkshakes contained a nice amount of sugar.
They weren't as sickening sweet as I thought they might be.
This one is definitely better than the strawberry & banana milkshake, but I still think it's...
kind of a diffuse flavor. And very mild.
I think the consistency is really strange. It's very thick.
I know that milkshakes are supposed to be thick, but this is almost like a drinkable yogurt.
And there's not a very distinct caramel flavor either,
but you can taste that there's something else that's sweet besides the chocolate flavor.
I'm concluding that this was still very mild in flavor.
Weird consistency, because it's super thick and then it has the really light foam on top.
It doesn't go well together.
A weird caramel flavor that doesn't really taste like caramel, but still better than the strawberry & banana milkshake.
So I think I'll give it a weak...
4!
No. I'll give it a 3. I'm going to be strict today.
I wouldn't buy this again, so I think a 3 is suitable. Maybe even a weak 3.
I don't remember what I gave the strawberry & banana milkshake...
Did I give a 2, and a 3 if they preferred strawberry flavor? That's it, right?
So I think we can give this one a 3 with good conscience-
because I wouldn't purchase it again on my own, but if someone offered me one I'd drink it.
So a 3 for the chocolate & caramel milkshake, and a 2 for the strawberry.
And banana...
that wasn't really there.
Currently quite disappointed, so I hope Cocio will save the day!
I'll read the ingredients on this one too, and on the front it says "100% natural ingredients"
It's written in both English and Russian and a lot of other things...
It's actually Polish. Polish, Danish, English, (French), and Norwegian. A weird mix of languages.
So this is milkshake with caramel & biscuit flavor.
85% milk, 4% fat (from the milk)
5% sugar, skimmed milk powder, oat fiber, psyllium and natural aroma.
Since we're pouring it into a glass I'm just going to remove all the lids and stuff.
Is it the same type of lid?
No, this is open.
Oh, it looks really nice and light in color. Just what I was hoping for.
Ugh, it's really stuck on there.
Let's smell it.
Oh yeeees, it smells delicious caramel!
Almost like caramel fudge.
Ah, finally! I think this will be really good.
Pour it into the glass.
Very nice light color. Almost looks like... *eggedosis! (*weird foamy dessert made from beating egg whites and sugar)
I'll take the chance of pouring the whole thing into the glass because I think this is going to taste nice!
So that I can drink the whole thing.
Slightly more yellow than normal milk. Just slightly.
Can tell that it's thick.
It seriously smells amazing.
I get a longing to Starbucks and the caramel sauce they pour inside the cups.
This has to be good. Let's taste it.
Holy shit!
This is my cup of tea, to put it like that.
At first it tasted kind of spicy.
It reminds me of the Starbucks Christmas drinks.
Maybe some kind of hazelnut drink, or something with Christmas spices...
I don't really know what it is, but it's kind of Christmas-y.
Oh! Now I remember.
I had a scented candle from Bath & Body Works that I ordered from the US.
And it was called something like "caramel cinnamon sparkle"
It actually tastes like how the candle smelled like.
So I don't know, maybe there's some cinnamon in this, but still the main flavor is the delicious caramel.
Exactly like caramel sauce or caramel fudge.
And there's just a slight hint of spice that reminds me of Christmas.
Tastes amazing. This could cost 40kr and I'd probably still buy it.
Mmmm!
I almost wonder if this would be nice as a hot beverage.
It could've been a white hot chocolate with caramel flavor.
So I think it would've worked as a hot drink as well.
This tastes very sweet compared to the Tine milkshakes, even though they had 4% sugar, while this has 5%.
It's probably just the association to the caramel that tricks your mind.
I only have less than half left, and I feel like it's kind of sickening because it's incredibly sweet - but still very delicious.
It might be because I'm drinking very fast while taste testing these.
It's probably easier to enjoy it when you're drinking at a normal pace.
My heart is happy.
It tasted better than I expected.
Conclusion: better consistency.
Delicious flavor. It reminds me of Starbucks and Christmas and everything else that is amazing.
A little bit too sweet. Costs less than the Tine milkshakes.
I would definitely repurchase this.
I really want to give it a dice roll of 6...
but because it's so sickening sweet I'll give it a strong 5 instead.
Ugh. I thought of finishing this, but I feel sick just looking at it!
But then again I've also had another two milkshakes before this one, so this might not be as sickening sweet on its own.
That's all we had to taste test today.
If you've tried these - or when you do - leave me a comment and let me know what you think of them.
I will also give you a sneak peek of what's to come in my next taste test video.
Before I started recording this I was at the post office and I picked up this package.
It's quite heavy.
And it's actually from one of my subscribers!
This box is filled with snacks and candy from the US!
I'm super excited to try everything.
I will try and record it during this week so that I can upload it maybe this weekend.
So remember to watch out for that video if you want to see me taste testing American treats.
And if you want to send me something, like a letter or something you want me to taste test-
you're more than welcome to contact me through my email address which is linked in the description box below :)
And then I hope to see you in my next video.
"Vi sees!"
