Top 10 Luckiest Moments In Fortnite History - Duration: 5:02.

Hey guys!

Welcome back to Top 10 Gaming, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

Fortnite is a game that definitely rewards skilful play.

You can just watch Ninja destroy a bunch of noobs to see that.

But there's definitely a pretty huge luck component to the game, that can make for some

really amazing, and really terrible, situations.

So let's go over some of the luckiest moments out there!

But before you do that, get ready, it's time for the Top 10 Luckiest Moments in Fortnite

History!

Number 10: Hawkeye.

Here we have Aladdin roaming around with a crossbow, riffing about Millennials.

You know, the time-honoured complaint that "All Millennials have silencers".

And it's totally true, as a millennial, 50% of my paycheque goes towards avocadoes

and silencers.

However, right after, he busts out perhaps the craziest long range shot I've ever seen

Seriously, it took me like 4 watches just to even SEE the guy he was shooting at, I

can't believe how lucky he was to make the shot.

Number 9: Landing like a cat.

Here we have Grimmmz making a big ol' jump, only for him to overshoot it.

But lucky for him, he somehow manages to survive, and make his way back into the eye of the

storm.

Not sure how, but he was definitely counting his lucky stars.

Oh, right, I probably should have mentioned that he dies immediately after.

But still, pretty lucky huh?

Number 8: Fish in a barrel.

Here's a bit of a different kind of lucky, since it isn't the guy we're following

getting lucky, but one of his opponents.

It seems that in one game, a few teams decided to have a little dance party slash mosh pit

in the middle of the map.

And it seems one of their enemies noticed this, and decided that the comedic value of

the dance was less important than his kill count.

Lucky for him, they were all too distracted by their dance party to notice.

Number 7: Rocket Snipe.

Sniping in Fortnite can be really frustrating.

When you're shooting from far away, you need to perfectly guess where your opponent

will be and try to hit them.

This is difficult when standing still.

It's even more difficult when running around.

And you know when it's even harder?

When you're flying through the air on a rocket.

But as you'll see, sometimes, lady luck smiles upon you.

Number 6: A close shave.

Here we have a guy who's holed up in a house, with 1 HP, just as the storm eye is shrinking.

He can't escape, so he needs to just pray that it doesn't encroach too far.

He's gonna need some LUCK if he's gonna survive.

Guess what happens…

That's right, I fooled you, it wasn't HIM getting lucky but his enemies.

Because he died.

DANG that was close though.

Number 5: The Hero of the Storm.

Here we have Murder_Of_Birds accidentally playing himself, and getting stuck outside

the storm.

Things look pretty grim.

But then he proves that he is one with the storm, and cannot be defeated by a mere 10

health per second.

He has skill.

And also, lots and lot of luck Number 4: No Scope?

No Problem.

Here we see one of the craziest no scopes ever.

Wappapappa is hanging out on a tree with a sniper, but decides that using the scope is

just too mainstream.

He's far too cool for that.

So he just fires across the map, and, well, let's see how it goes Bam, first try, easy

peasy.

And what makes this even better is that he calls out that he's trying to no scope them

just moments before he nails it.

Number 3: The Hero Bush.

Here we have Griz in a game, trying to hide behind a bush while in a sniper battle with

an enemy.

Unfortunately, his enemy spots him, and his aim is true.

But fortunately, well, I'll let you see what happens.

And I actually managed to find footage of the guy in the bush shortly after he was shot.

Number 2: Bouncing Beauty.

Here we have a duo game with three players remaining, two on one team, one on the other.

The two catch sight of their enemy, and make chase, but then they shoot a grenade at the

ground near them.

Now it could have been an accident, I'm PRETTY sure it was on purpose, but either

way, it was insanely lucky.

Number 1: The most dangerous bush in the world.

Here we have Dr. Lupo playing in a casted game, and he takes a rocket jump as a bush.

I won't spoil what happens, just watch.

How insane is that?

He not only lucked out in nailing the rocket jump, he also hit the tree so he wouldn't

travel outside the eye, AND he had that amazing snipe.

Don't get me wrong; skill played a big role, but I think we can all agree that luck did

too.

But my goodness was that awesome.

New Wave SWIM BUOY Review: Open Water Swim Confidence - Duration: 7:10.

- Morning, Trainiacs.

We got a little care package yesterday

that I'm gonna go try here today.

Until now, I have been quite the curmudgeon

about this product, actually.

So these ended up showing up and I put out on Instagram

that I was doing some research on 'em

and you all went mad.

Let's talk about it today.

(upbeat music)

Okay, so historically, I have not been

terribly interested in these swim buoys,

because I'm like, "Mm, I'm a fairly confident swimmer."

So we're gonna try the biggest one they've got

loaded up with a bunch of stuff, share my first thoughts.

(upbeat music)

♪ Wearing light shoes ♪

♪ Walking down the shore, diving head first ♪

Well Trainiacs, I am pleasantly surprised with this thing.

I thought it was kinda gimmicky this whole time,

but no, it's real, and especially considering

that when I put out on Instagram a call that when I said,

"Hey, doing some research on these swim buoys,

can you comment on your experiences?"

And I've probably got 100 messages from people saying,

"Love it, could not be happier with it,

because you can store stuff in it, you're more confident."

And for the vast majority of triathletes out there

who aren't confident in open water,

having that confidence of something that you can grab onto

when you freak out, when you get tired,

that is going to make you a better triathlete overall.

So let's dive into this just a little bit.

So these cost either 30 or 35 dollars,

and how they work is, these ones, you blow 'em up,

and then there's that little nozzle that you spin to seal

and if you've got anything that you wanna store in there,

you'd put that in beforehand

so that it gets right deep in the bottom

and that is in a little pouch like this

if you want it super duper waterproof,

but there is a 20 liter version

for people that are over 190 pounds.

And a 15 liter version for people that are under 190 pounds

and comes in orange, green, and pink

so you can customize to whatever nail polish color you like.

Apparently, this green one has been studied

and proven to be the most visible

from boaters that are coming at ya.

Beyond that, there is also a

15 liter triathlete specific version

that doesn't have this roll top,

so you can't end up storing anything in it,

but I kinda liked storing things in it.

Apparently, that one has a little bit less drag

so you don't even notice it whatsoever.

All that said, I loaded up the larger buoy,

the 20 liter buoy, with a phone and a set of keys,

and I wanted to see even with the largest buoy possible

and some stuff in it, if I noticed anything.

And what I did was, I swam into the current

and then across the current and then with the current

and then across the current again.

And no matter which way I went it really didn't matter.

Basically just, I don't know,

maybe one out of every 20 strokes,

I just felt a little tap on my bum.

It's not like it was getting in the way of me kicking,

because the strap is really only that long,

so it's basically that far away from your hip.

Beyond that, it also deflates and then stores really nicely

inside like, an open water swim gear bag like I've got.

So I took the phone thing, I took the strap,

shove that all in to the bottom, roll it all up,

give it a snap, and something this size

just fits easily in a gear bag.

Now, let's talk about some of the cool ideas and comments

that you all sent to me on Instagram, I like these a lot.

Number one, makes for a good pillow.

If you're in the habit of just lounging

and enjoying open water swimming,

which when you get comfortable with it,

you can not be closer to nature.

It's right there and it's so calming on a nice quiet day

and if you just wanna kick back and relax,

like seriously, that would be a really nice experience.

Apparently, in Belgium, you are an idiot

if you don't swim with one of these.

So forget the hang up that I had for a couple years, like,

"Oh, people are gonna think that I'm not very confident."

In Europe, I got a lot of comments from people

that do open water swimming and group swimming

that say the entire group swims with it.

And the trainer, the leader of the group

shows up with a whole bunch of these

to make sure that everyone uses them.

And then people that swim in that group say that

maybe you get tapped a little bit

when you're swimming in a group with one of these,

but it's not like it drags you down

or gets tangled up in everyone else's stuff.

The big thing is that it makes spouses feel safer.

I know MTK always worries when I go open water swimming,

that I'm gonna get hit by a boat.

Well, when I came up on the dock,

I asked somebody who was there, I said like,

"How visible was I out there?"

And they're like, "Quite."

So like, "Even when I was as far away

as that dock over there, which was a kilometer away?"

And she's like, "Yeah, I saw you the entire time."

But to crank up that safety level,

a couple of people had said that

they might even put a flashing bike light in here.

So if it's really dark or foggy early in the morning,

this thing will emit that pulse of light.

Or they would put a GPS tracker or even their phone

in find my phone mode so that their spouse

could look and see like, alright, still moving,

hopefully everything's good.

So Trainiacs, today I eat my words

and I say that swim buoys are not as nerdy as I expected.

I'm gonna use them regularly.

And thanks to New Wave Swim Buoy for sending these out.

I can't really comment on any

of the other swim buoys that are out there.

This isn't a paid video at all.

They just contacted me and they said,

"Hey, we wanna send out a whole bunch of things

and see if you like 'em."

Best LEGO Clips of the Year...So Far! - REBRICKULOUS - Duration: 5:53.

Today we are sorting through some brick and we're sorting through some of our

favorite memories from the show just little things that you know tickle us

still inspire us. We got a couple of great moments this season and the couple

things that we actually learned. What I've learned is nothing is better than a

good high five. Tyler, I learned that you have some pretty awesome poses... Stand back I'm

so today we are breaking down Fenty Beauty's latest launches we're gonna be

talking about what's in the launch what's most exciting about the launch

and are there any products that are Holy Grail material will see and make sure to

stick around for a giveaway so first off we have to talk about this eyeshadow

palette this is the Fenty Beauty Moroccan spice I showed a palette and

there are 16 beautiful shades in here they are really pretty and they have a

really nice range of matte to shimmer finishes and they are so buttery and

smooth I always say that you can really tell a great palette from the mattes

just because it is difficult to swatch mattes and when your mats and your

shimmers are both bomb that's like a whole nother story and I feel like it

just makes it above the rest you know that's why I'm so excited to show you

guys this ishow palette because the formula I think is amazing and I think

you guys are going to be so impressed if you have a chance to feel it touch it

play with it create some looks and there are so many looks that you can create

with this because there is such a nice range of shades and the shades

themselves are very weightless they're buildable they stay put without creasing

and they were actually designed to fit for all skin tones so I love that about

this palette and overall it's just beautiful like the swatches speak for

themselves you know what I mean next up we have the eye liner so this is

the Fendi beauty fly liner long wear liquid liner this one is really really

saturated hyper saturated as they say and it actually is water-resistant so I

think it's a great option for the summertime this has a flexible tip on it

so you can get really nice precision strokes and one thing I like to do with

my eyeliner in general when I'm creating like nice sharp wings is kind of use the

brush to flick out the edge so that you get that really thin point at the end so

this one is so easy to do that with because of that precision tip and it's

easy to hold because they actually designed the packaging to have an easy

grip triangle shape to it so that if you're a makeup artist or even doing

makeup on yourself it's gonna be super easy

and convenient to hold and able to create those nice sharp wings and like I

said it does have that nice point on it the primer there's a really nice new

primer that goes along with I shot pilot well I mean you can use it with

eyeshadow palette and it just creates a really long-lasting

eyeshadow look and primers are great because they make colors even set up

more so when you're are using shadows that have this type of pigment and

you're using a primer underneath it's just gonna give you the most color

payoff possible this one is weightless it is color boosting and it is a really

great long wearing eyeshadow primer you can see here when you blend it in it's

pretty colorless I would say and it kind of just blends into your natural skin

tone when you apply it to your eyelids it is pretty transparent I would say and

it just kind of smooths the lids for better blending and crease proof wear

throughout the day then they also released some new brushes with this

question which I was really excited about because if you watch my youtube

channel you know that I am a brush lover I think that brushes are definitely like

just our tools you know our tools for our arts so first off we have the tooten

blending brush so this is the offensive Beauty tapered blending brush 210 and

this one is great because it does have this nice tapered shape to it and it's

perfect for blending eyeshadows into the crease and getting that really nice

contour area and one little tip that I like to do is really keep in mind how

you're holding your brush depending on what kind of eyeshadow look you're going

for so if you hold the brush or a blending brush like this upwards and

you're gonna get a more dispersed look a little bit more of a faded out look and

a really nice blend but if you turn the brush upside down and hold it in a

downwards direction then it deposits more color more pigment so you end up

getting a little bit more of a cut crease look but obviously it's a little

bit more of a blended out cut crease but that's how you're gonna get the most

pigment so that's my little tip on using blending brushes like this then we have

the Finzi Beauty all over I shadow 200 brush this one has a really unique

tapered fan shape to it and it's designed to perfectly pick up lay down

and pack out those eyeshadows and I really like to use this one just tapping

it into the eyes and it creates a lot of pigment payoff

so if you just tap it into the shadow and then really let me show you on the

back of my ham and then really tap the pigment into place and kind of use the

brush to blend out you get so much pigment and I think that's what's so

nice about this brush is that you're really getting the most pigment possible

but you can also use it to kind of blend out the outer corner areas as well so

honestly this collection is amazing I think there are so many great products

my personal favorite I have to say is probably the I shop out just because I

feel like there are so many different looks that you can create with this so

many different people are gonna love this palette because it is so versatile

so I have to say that this is definitely my favorite so what about you guys let

The Tragic Real-Life Story Of The Man Who Played Sloth - Duration: 4:27.

John "The Tooz" Matuszak was just as famous in the '80s for his hard-partying, larger-than-life

persona as he was for his football game.

But even if you didn't know him for either of those reasons, you definitely knew about

his alter-ego the enormous, gentle Sloth, whose unconventional appearance was the face

of the 1985 classic The Goonies.

In a lot of ways, Sloth wasn't just the on-screen alter ego of the former football star, he

was the actual manifestation of the person Matuszak was on the inside: a lovable giant

who was also a generous friend.

After attending a few different colleges, including the University of Missouri - where

he got kicked out of for punching a guy at a party - he landed at the University of Tampa.

The NFL took notice of his 6 foot 8 frame - so much so that the Houston Oilers selected

number one overall in the 1973 draft.

Unfortunately, though, the man behind Sloth didn't get his happy ending.

During his second season with the Oilers,

Matuszak was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, who traded him to the Washington Redskins,

who cut him just two weeks later, at the end of the 1976 preseason.

Why was his stint in Washington so short-lived?

According to coach George Allen: "Vodka and Valium."

"One for me...breakfast of champions, there."

This reputation for drink and debauchery would only get worse.

"I didn't know anything about John Matuszak other than he was supposed to be nuts."

After Washington cut him loose, Matuszak was

a free agent, and the Oakland Raiders were desperate after three of their defensive linemen

suffered season-ending injuries.

So they pretended they didn't know about the vodka and Valium and made Matuszak a Raider.

Coach John Madden told ESPN: "When he arrived, I wasn't about to talk to

him about his past.

[...] If you know too much about a guy, you tend to prejudge him, to hold his past against

him."

The gamble paid off.

In Matuszak's first season, the Raiders won their first Super Bowl title.

But afterward, he gradually began to fall back into his hard-partying ways.

He always played well, though, so he managed to get away with all the headline-making hijinks.

Matuszak's ex-fiance Stephanie Cozart recounted to the LA Times the number of times he committed

himself to rehab and then walked out before completing the program.

She revealed: "I have a little velvet box at home.

It's full of 30-day and 60-day chips.

They give those out at the [AA and CA] meetings.

His big goal was to get a 90-day chip [...] and he never got one."

In his autobiography, Cruisin' with the Tooz,

Matuszak described six separate incidents involving automobiles that each resulted in

convictions.

According to the LA Times, he had an excuse for all of them, ranging from swerving to

avoid a child to not knowing there was marijuana in the car.

In one incident, he attacked the other driver before fleeing the scene.

But he never wanted to take responsibility for his actions.

According to ex-fiance Cozart: "It was never his fault.

And it never had anything to do with the fact that he was high."

Football often leads to injuries and because

of one he sustained, Matuszak sat out the 1982 season and then decided to retire from

football altogether.

The pain and resulting medications were the final straw after years of hard partying and

drug abuse.

In 1989 at the age of 38, he passed away after accidentally overdosing on the painkiller

Darvocet.

After the coroner's report was released, his parents admitted that their son used prescription

and illegal drugs to try to cope with chronic back pain.

They added in a statement: "At the proper time, we will have things to

say about substance abuse and the scoundrels in the medical profession who recklessly dispense

prescription drugs and the parasites of society who distribute illicit drugs from back alleys

to fashionable condominiums."

In the midst of all of this, it's worth remembering

that John Matuszak had a big heart.

He was a brawler, a partier, and a guy who didn't want to take responsibility for his

actions, but that wasn't all.

"Well I'm really not mean in personality at all.

When you play the game of pro football, it's like assuming a character in a part."

He was also known for his generosity and often visited sick children.

Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk in Goonies shared: "John was really nice to me and it was fun

to work with him.

But it's funny, when I was a teenager and I would start to watch the old NFL films [...] he

would just terrify people on the field, which was totally shocking to me.

I knew him as Sloth, the nice, lovable giant."

According to the New York Times, the coroner's report also listed bronchial pneumonia and

an enlarged heart as factors that contributed to his death.

Unfortunately, The Tooz's big heart just couldn't handle all the excesses it had been forced

to endure over the far too-short life of the man it belonged to.

news Fox approved the merger with Disney so Disney is going to own the Fox

properties so they've got the acquisition but hold on a second

this doesn't mean they actually own the x-men characters the Deadpool etc just

yet so the offer of seventy 1.3 billion dollars was agreed and they said okay

hey this does not actually mean they own the properties this doesn't mean we're

going to see Deadpool in Avengers 4 this doesn't mean we're gonna see the x-men

in a post-credits scene for Avengers 4 after the end credits roll for Avengers

4 what this currently means is they've agreed to sell Fox to Disney so what's

gonna happen now is it's gonna have to be agreed on a lot of different channels

the international regulators obviously in the EU and all over the world

they've all got agree so there is a bit misleading information out there so yes

they have agreed to sell but it hasn't gone through yet and it should be

finalized early 2019 so in theory if everything goes according to plan and

they iron out all the little contracts about everything because they have to

agree to everything they've agreed a price but they need to agree to terms

and conditions so they have got until the first half of 2019 and I presume

that that means the first water 2019 then it will be theirs but that doesn't

currently mean they own Fox just yet the merger will go through but let's be

transparent it's not closed yet so Disney doesn't own Fox yet they

can't use the x-men characters they can't use Deadpool just yet but it will

Santa Rosa Home Survives Devastating Fire Storm. Surrounded by ashes, life endures - sonoma county - Duration: 4:17.

The Byers family guarantee is

doing the right thing for a client.

Home is where the heart is and it's where we can

all feel safe.

We had known that there was a large catastrophe that

happened in the Santa Rosa Sonoma area with all the fires.

Knowing that we had some of our clients affected from that,

and I really wanted to get out there first hand

to see what that damage looked like.

(dramatic music)

The home is a home, its like, you know, where you come

after a day's work or after a vacation,

you're coming home and you can't wait to get there.

It is paradise.

You know after living here a while, it's just a wonderful

place and I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else.

I'm the last of my generation and my family, so I have,

you know, I have accumulated everybody else's memorabilia.

I've got boxes of pictures from probably 1880,

oh man, through the present time from relatives.

The night of the fire, maybe 8:30 or so, I stepped out the

door and there's about a 40 mile an hour wind or so,

and there was a lot of smoke in the air.

Went back in the home and turned on the news.

There was a fire in Calistoga, which is about 20 miles away.

I think we're just getting smoke.

I wasn't really worried about the fire.

So around two o'clock in the morning, was woken by a flash

of lights.

And I got up, looked out the window and the building next

door to me was on fire.

I pretty much panicked at that time,

But I believe anything else, this happened so quickly.

I woke my wife up, told her we had to get out of the house

right now, let's go.

So we had any thought of taking anything from that house.

We just, my thought was just get out

as quickly as possible.

There were fires on both sides of the street

as we were driving out, pretty scary.

Embers were coming down like snow.

The smoke was so thick you could hardly breathe.

The fire wiped out most of my neighborhood,

over 5000 houses were destroyed during the fire.

It was a really horrible incident.

Driving up through all the devastation,

I got probably two or three blocks from here

and I could see the house through the trees

and I almost cried when I saw it.

I couldn't believe it.

It was still standing.

I never thought about my belongings ever.

I never thought about that.

Just the home was still there.

It was unbelievable and a very emotional experience

seeing all that devastation and then seeing

my home still standing.

Of course we were still alive, and that was paramount

in my mind.

It wasn't until two or three days later

when I started to think why did my house survive

when all these others burned.

I started thinking about the stucco and the roof

and then other people that I met had been talking

about how their house burned because of leaves

in the gutter catching fire.

And it's a fact, I just don't think the house

would have survived if we hadn't had the leaf guard system.

This is why we do what we do, helping

to save the home and preserving those memories.

Le rapport de l'IGPN affirme en effet que "depuis la dernière élection présidentielle", l'ancien chargé de mission était "présent à toutes les réunions préparatoires à l'organisation des déplacements du président de la République dans le ressort de la préfecture de police"

[Alexandre Benalla] était également présent sur le terrain lors des grands événements auxquels participe le président, côtoie professionnellement un grand nombre de policiers de la capitale affectés à ces missions

L'IGPNdans son rapport Ces déclarations confirment la proximité d'Alexandre Benalla avec plusieurs membres de la police, avec lesquels il a noué "des liens de proximité, facilités par le tutoiement qu'il pratique volontiers", précise l'IGPN

Trois policiers, dont Laurent Simonin, sont actuellement mis en examen pour avoir transmis les images de vidéosurveillance du 1er-Mai à Alexandre Benalla

 Le policier qui accompagnait Alexandre Benalla "s'est gardé de lui faire la moindre remarque"  Présent place de la Contrescarpe, le 1er mai 2018, le commissaire Philippe Mizerski, major au sein de la direction de l'ordre public et de la circulation, "ne concevait pas", selon l'IGPN, "de faire la moindre observation à celui qui était, à ses yeux, un personnage de première importance"

 Il s'est également "gardé de faire la moindre remarque" à Alexandre Benalla à propos du brassard de police que le chargé de mission à l'Élysée arborait ce soir-là

"Il a considéré que son statut de 'haut responsable' de la sécurité de la présidence de la République l'autorisait certainement à le porter", précise le rapport de la "police des polices"

 On ne sait pas si Alexandre Benalla était en possession d'une arme le 1er-Mai En octobre 2017, Alexandre Benalla avait obtenu de la préfecture de police, saisie par l'Élysée, l'autorisation de porter sur lui un pistolet de type Glock

Toutefois, le rapport de l'IGPN n'est pas en mesure de confirmer qu'il détenait une arme le 1er-Mai

"En tout état de cause, ni les vidéos, ni les déclarations des principaux acteurs policiers ne permettent de le détecter en ce qui concerne monsieur Benalla", est-il écrit

  L'IGPN propose la création d'un "signe distinctif" pour les observateurs  Pour distinguer plus clairement les personnes extérieures aux forces de l'ordre, accueillies en tant qu'"observateurs", la "police des polices" propose de leur attribuer un "signe distinctif"

 La mission propose la création d'un brassard spécifique d'observateur qui ne devra pas lui-même prêter à confusion avec les brassards équipant déjà des services de sécurité ou d'autres déjà utilisés (presse ou sécurité privée)

L'IGPNdans son rapport Contactée par franceinfo, la préfecture confirme accueillir occasionnellement "des personnes extérieures à [ses] services lors d'opérations de maintien de l'ordre, pour de courtes durées"

 Parmi eux se trouvent "des journalistes, des chercheurs, ou des magistrats en formation"

Une "charte de l'observateur" devrait être créée  Le rapport propose également la création d'une "convention-type adaptable et [d']une charte générale de l'observateur" récapitulant "les grands principes de la procédure d'autorisation au debriefing de l'observation réalisée, en passant par les conditions de son encadrement"

Pour l'IGPN, l'affaire Benalla "illustre la nécessité de formaliser dans une note cadre les grands principes qui doivent présider à l'accueil d'observateurs"

I'm So Done With This Heat! - Duration: 9:51.

Hello lovely people and welcome back to my channel!

So, if you follow me on Instagram or have added me on Snapchat

you might have heard me complain about the weather.

So, it's currently Thursday and it's about 10:30 AM and it's already close to a 30°C.

It's just too much.

We Dutch people, we aren't really used to hot summers.

It's usually around 25°C. Tops.

And most of the time, it's just raining or we have thunderstorms.

We don't do this heat.

And now it's been like warm since, I think, May already, end of April.

And it hasn't really rained.

Which is also really annoying.

And it's super humid.

So, you sit on the couch, do nothing and you're still sweating like crazy.

Today it finally started to... be a little better.

Well, not exactly, but there's some wind now.

We didn't have that for a while either.

So that made it only worse, because then it was really burning hot.

Today, Thursday, and tomorrow, Friday, will be the worst days.

Because then it's like hitting over 35°C.

And yeah, we're probably hitting a heat wave.

Which for the Netherlands is at least five days over 25°C in De Bilt

which is like the centre of the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht.

And if it stays five days over 25°C and two or three of those days are over 30°C

on that spot there, then we hit a heat weave.

Heat wave.

The heat is affecting me.

I'm sorry if I speak weird.

I haven't slept well in weeks, if not months.

Because it stays hot and at night, it doesn't go below 20°C, which is way too hot.

We should have like 15°C at least or lower to sleep nicely.

And it's just not doable anymore.

And it's driving me crazy.

I even tried turning around my whole rhythm.

So...

Let's see, it's Thursday now.

Tuesday night, I stayed up all night and I didn't go to bed till 6 AM.

And the plan was to wake up around 2 PM then and then just change it to that.

Well, I managed to get through the night.

Watched a whole season of Friends on Netflix, so that kind of helped.

And then went to bed at 6.

Wasn't that tired.

But then the sun isn't shining very brightly on our bedroom.

So, it's kind of cool over there.

But yeah, I woke up around 11 already.

Barely having slept.

And well, stayed in bed till like 12:30, but it didn't really help.

So I got up again.

Really tired.

Really broken.

I know it takes time to change around your rhythm.

Don't get me wrong.

But, yeah.

It didn't really help.

So, last night, Wednesday night, I did it a little bit differently.

I stayed up till about 2 AM.

Which is when it's getting noticeably cooler in the bedroom.

Because we have the sun at the front of our apartment

from like 3 PM till 10 PM, when it goes down.

So it's burning very brightly on our bedroom and on our kitchen.

Our kitchen is a true sauna.

The bedroom is a little better, but not much.

So, normally we go to bed around 11.

And that's only an hour after sunset, so it's still very hot in the bedroom.

So that's why I stayed up a little later and went to bed at 2 AM.

At which time it was quite cooler in the bedroom.

And that kind of helped, because I slept quite alright.

It's not that I feel all energized again.

But, it was quite better than how I slept the last couple of nights.

So, that's a win!

Not sure how I'm going to do it now.

If I'll go to bed at 2 AM again.

Or that I go to bed at 11 PM, just normally.

Or that I change it around completely again and go to bed at 6 AM again.

I'm not sure yet.

I'll just take it one day at a time.

I'll go to bed when I feel like it.

And if I keep tossing and turning, and hurting my back in the process, because I'm not comfortable,

and just sweating and staring at the ceiling,

I'll just get up again, watch some Netflix

and then I'll see when I go to bed.

Because that's, well, the advantage of not really having a life.

My boyfriend has to go to bed on time,

because he has to wake up at 5:30 every morning to go to work.

So yeah, that sucks for him.

But, I'm as free as a bird.

So yeah, I'm not sure what the plan is.

It's going to stay hot for quite a while.

We're hitting the peaks today.

And well, they say it's going to rain like crazy on Saturday

so I really hope that's going to happen.

But, the predictions keep changing.

First they said it would rain all day and now it only seems to be like early morning.

I'm not sure if it's going to happen at all.

I really hope so.

I really hope we get one big fall of rain.

And that it cools down a little to at least below 20°C, because that would be so nice.

Because this heat is just...

I don't like it!

I know this isn't that crazy.

Because I've heard friends in California and the surroundings say

that they hit over a 40°C, even close to 50°C.

But, we Dutch people, we just aren't used to the heat.

It's normally way cooler in the summer.

And way more rain as well, not as humid.

We just need rain.

We need some refreshment from all this heat.

And the wind is kind of helping now, but it's still crazy.

Anyway, let me know how warm it is where you live.

If you're dying from the heat as well.

I'm just going crazy.

And don't really know what to do.

I drink a lot of water, which means I'm on the toilet half of the day.

So, if you have any tips to deal with this heat, let me know.

People just keep saying: don't do that much, drink a lot of water, stay out of the sun.

Yeah, I know that.

But I can't just sit around all day on my couch,

staring into nothingness, drinking my water.

I, I can't do that.

I'm not the person to do nothing.

So, also, Thursdays, so today, I usually clean the house.

So at least vacuum, do the toilet - stuff like that.

Be a nice housewife.

But since it's going to be 35°C today

and it's already close to 30°C right now in the morning, I'm not sure if I will.

Like, the house really needs it.

But it's just way too hot.

Like sitting here is already making me sweat like crazy.

And I'm not really the person that sweats a lot, so that should say it all.

So I might wait till maybe early evening.

Because around 1 PM the sun disappears to the side of the apartment building.

And then it comes up front.

So the living room cools down pretty quickly in the afternoon.

So I could just start there and then we'll see about the other side of the house.

And well, I'll try to do nothing then.

Well, at least as little as possible.

Which I have been doing and it's...

I just can't.

I'm bored out of my mind.

But, doing something already... just... it's too hot.

I need cooler weather right now.

But it's not going to happen soon.

Because...

If the rain comes on Saturday, it will go down below 30°C

and that will stay that way till like halfway through next week.

But then it goes up over 30°C again and it probably stays like that for all of August.

So we're not done with this yet.

So, can we have Christmas or something?

Anyway, let's end this rant here.

Because it's way too hot to rant and to film and to do anything.

Santa Rosa Home Survives Devastating Fire Storm. Surrounded by ashes, life endures - sonoma county - Duration: 4:17.

The Byers family guarantee is

doing the right thing for a client.

Home is where the heart is and it's where we can

all feel safe.

We had known that there was a large catastrophe that

happened in the Santa Rosa Sonoma area with all the fires.

Knowing that we had some of our clients affected from that,

and I really wanted to get out there first hand

to see what that damage looked like.

(dramatic music)

The home is a home, its like, you know, where you come

after a day's work or after a vacation,

you're coming home and you can't wait to get there.

It is paradise.

You know after living here a while, it's just a wonderful

place and I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else.

I'm the last of my generation and my family, so I have,

you know, I have accumulated everybody else's memorabilia.

I've got boxes of pictures from probably 1880,

oh man, through the present time from relatives.

The night of the fire, maybe 8:30 or so, I stepped out the

door and there's about a 40 mile an hour wind or so,

and there was a lot of smoke in the air.

Went back in the home and turned on the news.

There was a fire in Calistoga, which is about 20 miles away.

I think we're just getting smoke.

I wasn't really worried about the fire.

So around two o'clock in the morning, was woken by a flash

of lights.

And I got up, looked out the window and the building next

door to me was on fire.

I pretty much panicked at that time,

But I believe anything else, this happened so quickly.

I woke my wife up, told her we had to get out of the house

right now, let's go.

So we had any thought of taking anything from that house.

We just, my thought was just get out

as quickly as possible.

There were fires on both sides of the street

as we were driving out, pretty scary.

Embers were coming down like snow.

The smoke was so thick you could hardly breathe.

The fire wiped out most of my neighborhood,

over 5000 houses were destroyed during the fire.

It was a really horrible incident.

Driving up through all the devastation,

I got probably two or three blocks from here

and I could see the house through the trees

and I almost cried when I saw it.

I couldn't believe it.

It was still standing.

I never thought about my belongings ever.

I never thought about that.

Just the home was still there.

It was unbelievable and a very emotional experience

seeing all that devastation and then seeing

my home still standing.

Of course we were still alive, and that was paramount

in my mind.

It wasn't until two or three days later

when I started to think why did my house survive

when all these others burned.

I started thinking about the stucco and the roof

and then other people that I met had been talking

about how their house burned because of leaves

in the gutter catching fire.

And it's a fact, I just don't think the house

would have survived if we hadn't had the leaf guard system.

This is why we do what we do, helping

to save the home and preserving those memories.

Hi its Jill Maurer. I'm here again with

bartending whisperer, Geoffrey Cunningham and

today we're talking about one of my favorites, gin. So we are going to learn all about

gin, and what goes into it, and what we can make from it.

Gin is going to be kind of the cousin to vodka. We spoke about vodka before. I said vodka was neutral. Did it bring anything to the table

where gin is, I like to think of the original flavored vodka. So what makes gin gin is

juniper. Juniper is a berry. So juniper ...

it's gonna give that's where you're getting that evergreen that piney kind of flavor out of the gin.

You can do your research, and with each gin they'll give tasting notes on there. Some have ... This this Bombay Sapphire in

particular has lemongrass and peppercorns. Tanqueray 10 has grapefruits. Yeah, unlike vodkas, which I guess there is a little bit of difference

I don't know. I've never been too much of a good drinker. I definitely have preferences when it comes to gin.

Yeah

And that's it's it's kind of you as you explore different

gins you'll find out what you like. This first kind of drink that we'll go into

is a just your classic gin and tonic. So that's done in our cocktail glass. We add ice,

gin, and then ... this is just store-bought tonic here. They have

name brand

It is fever tree. There's different kind of Mediterranean tonic. Lots of different tonics that will

add to the different flavor profile. A classic gin and tonic will have a lime.

Just

slice this wedge here and then to finish this drink we'll squeeze that lime right into the top. And

there we have our gin and tonic.

Moving forward ...

To take on the same aspect.

We're using, we're thinking about gin. Gin has its characteristics. It has botanicals.

It's got flavors that are going to

complement with it and other ingredients. There's a classic drink called the Rickey,

and that would be a gin Rickey since we're using gin. You could go vodka Rickey, but Ricky is just lime juice and sugar.

So you would take two ounces of gin,

one ounce

lime,

and

one ounce

sugar. So I've never had this. This is interesting though, because I

tend to have a gin and tonic with a lot of lime.

So in a sense by doing what I like. You're doing a lot of lime and then the gin.

Yes, but this is going to have as

you said with tonic. Tonic has quinine, so it has its own kind of flavor.

This is only going to have the flavor of lime and sugar.

The sugar will be sweet to balance the lime, and this will be served in a Collins glass.

So we're going to fill our Collins glass with ice.

Our mixture that we have is going to be strained off

Into the glass.

And then it will be topped with soda water.

So much like tonic, tonic has its own flavor. We're adding a neutral, but it'll still be bubbles.

So this classic combination is pairing the tartness of the lime,

the sweetness from our simple syrup, with gin those botanicals will be there,

The tonic isn't bringing any, or tonic would bring its own kind of flavor to it.

This one was just straight lime. The gin should get all those flavors of those botanicals. This will also be garnished with a lime.

Straw. Now

these will always be generally done in a taller glass so that the bubbles stay

within. And when a bartender serves you a drink with a straw. Are you supposed to drink out of that straw,

or is that to stir? You can. The straw it can be is to

stir, but generally drinks with the straw, you can use the straw.

But if you if you get a little stirrer that happens to be a straw, that's more just a stirrer, right?

Yes, and since the stirrer straw, straw stirrer does have

drinking capabilities you could use it as a straw. (Jill: I've seen it done). It's just slow. It's a slow sipper. It's a sipper straw.

Okay. This last cocktail that we're doing is a play on a base a

classic cocktail where the basis is Cointreau,

lemon, and

gin. So now though our first two cocktails used

lime. This one is going to incorporate some lemon.

So just lemon, Cointreau, and gin is what we'd call a daisy. At some point there was a bartender that wanted to incorporate

Campari into the mix which is an Italian bitter citrus liqueur.

So it's going to add a little dryness on the back end. So we have our lemon,

we have a half ounce

half ounce of

Cointreau which is an orange liqueur,

then we have our touch of Campari.

The Campari will give it a nice pink color as well.

Now this cocktail as our first two were served with ice. This one will be served without ice.

So what we want to do is make sure we get as much out of the ice as we shake as we can so it's cold.

We're sipping on it. As you're shaking you want to break up the ice to dilute the spirit in our ingredients.

But what we're doing in this shaker is mashing all these ingredients together.

We have our glass.

Generally when you use, if a cocktail has no ice, you don't

generally want to use the tallest glass. Okay. It'll just fit nicer in a short glass. And for this one we would use an

orange as a garnish. Jill: Because of the .. Geoffrey: there's some ah

What we're going to do is express this orange peel over the top to give the aroma of all the citrus.

There's little bits of zest. Jill: I can see them. Geoffrey: Yes, the oil comes right off the top.

Easy enough for anybody to do. Jill: I love that. Despite its pink color, this is not a sugary sweet drink.

It's a really nice, nice drink. Geoffrey; No. The sugar content is only coming in the Cointreau which is also a
