He might be best known as "the guy who played the nerdy guy in Grease," but the actor permanently

associated with the role of Eugene Felsnic, the bullied and bespectacled Rydell High student

who could surprisingly hurl a cream pie with remarkable precision, has a name: Eddie Deezen.

Deezen turned in a memorable performance in the 1978 classic and went on to appear in

lots of other projects.

How did this fellow maintain a steady and interesting stream of work for decades in

a business that can chew up even the hottest A-list stars at the drop of a hat?

Let's take a closer look at Eddie Deezen.

Revenge of the nerd

By the time Grease left theaters, it was the fifth-highest growing film of all-time, cementing

the pop culture status of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

And then there's Eddie Deezen, who arguably had a more important career, being the very

model of the "movie nerd."

Many movies from the '80s needed nerd characters to operate these new things called computers,

to serve as punching bags for cool characters, or to turn the tables on those cool characters.

Deezen did it better than anyone, playing nerds in such classics as Midnight Madness,

Zapped!, WarGames, and a return to the role of Eugene in Grease 2.

Ironically, the one nerd-centric '80s film he didn't appear in?

Revenge of the Nerds.

He'll 'B' seeing you

For someone so typecast, Eddie Deezen has thrived, making a living as a working actor

for more than 40 years and counting.

Sure, he's not starring in big blockbusters, but he has appeared in a ton of late-night,

cable-ready B-movies, including such schlocky titles as Laserblast, Teenage Exorcist, Beverly

Hills Vamp, Critters 2 and Assault of the Killer Bimbos.

Deezen even enjoyed top-billing in Surf II, where he plays a nerd who exacts revenge on

surfers by turning them into mutants.

Don't worry, you don't need to see Surf I to understand it.

He's a very vocal guy

Eddie Deezen has the nerd voice to go along with the nerd image.

Over the past 20 years, Deezen's career has shifted almost entirely to animation.

From rival child scientist Mandark on Dexter's Laboratory, to fast food manager Ned on Kim

Possible, to the geeky Know-It-All in The Polar Express, Deezen has remained in his

nerdy wheelhouse.

Deezen's also had a prolific career as a voiceover performer in television commercials, including

being the voice of Pop, as in Rice Krispies' Snap, Crackle, and Pop.

He also auditioned to play one of the most famous ad characters ever, the AFLAC Duck.

Ultimately, he lost that ducky gig to Gilbert Gottfried.

"So I'm very happy to be here, but I'm happy to be here, I mean anywhere, I'm happy

to be anywhere."

Here's a fun fact

The Hollywood history books are full of actors who, when the big roles dried up, or out of

a need for creative fulfillment, turned to writing.

Examples include Justin Theroux, Emma Thompson, and Seth Rogen.

Add Eddie Deezen to that list, whose writing niche is very much in line with his nerd reputation.

The curious actor is a big fan of trivia and fun facts, and as such, he's worked for a

number of big players in that particular publishing arena.

Deezen has contributed fact lists and articles for the long-running Uncle John's Bathroom

Reader series, as well as online trivia repositories such as Neatorama and Mental Floss.

Deezen loves to write about music, particularly the Beatles, the subject of his 1978 movie

My Own Voice & Genetics

What's interesting is that I never liked my voice growing up.

It wasn't as deep as it is now.

However, by doing what I'm teaching you today, my voice has gotten deeper.

And the truth is, it all happened by accident - I wasn't trying to deepen voice.

GRANTED, genetics always plays a big role in all of this.

But the RIGHT HORMONES with help optimize and deepen your voice, no matter where you

are now.

And I never even noticed or was mindful of my deeper voice until I started getting more

and more compliments over the years, especially from WOMEN!

This is even more true these days when you interact through email, texts and so forth.

So when you do finally talk to someone on the phone, they quickly create a mental picture

of you.

A deeper voice commands more respect.

It's more "manly".

It sounds more confident.

It gives more authority.

Bruce Wayne vs Batman

If you ever watch Batman movies, when Bruce Wayne puts on the Bat Suit and Mask, his voice

all of a sudden gets deeper.

This is done in purpose … to make Batman sound "stronger".

I mention this because the actor does this manually, which I'll show you how in a minute.

Granted, in recent movies I think it was magnified digitally and it sounded fake.

But the point is that you too, can pretend to put on your "Batman Voice" by using

simple, "voice deepening" techniques you can implement right way, for instant results.

Instantly Deeper Voice In 60 Seconds

So, the first and simple way to make your voice SOUND deeper

is to Slow down when speaking

Breathe deeply Speak more from your diaphragm and stomach,

NOT from your throat

Practice chanting FEEL more confident when speaking

When you FEEL something, you'll ACT it.

Now, you'll make instant improvements here.

However, this isn't permanent.

This requires practice and you being mindful every time you speak.

Permanently Deeper Voice

However, if you want to permanently deepen your voice, naturally and obviously without

surgery… you need to thicken and lengthen your vocal cords.

This is why when boys go through puberty, their voices change and it gets deeper.

He was in his early 40's at the time.

Kneeling for the national anthem isn't a way to get the ratings back up.

The NFL thinks it's "Okay" for the players to take a knee during the national anthem

in protest against injustice and racial bias.

The question still remains, what injustice, and racial bias are they talking about?

NFL players make millions of dollars a year.

They live in fancy mansions and drive only the best cars around.

Yet, they claim to be Oppressed, and racially discriminated against.

Sounds like a bunch of useless millennials if you ask me.

What a shame.

President Trump wasn't happy with the total disrespect of our nations flag, and military

members.

These men and women have fought and died for our freedoms, and these selfish millionaires

think it's perfectly fine to show them disrespect.

Once the Philidelphia Eagles won the Superbowl, and the NFL kneeling frenzy came to a halt,

the media went silent, and all was good…. until now.

Recently developments on the NFL's NEW policy that prohibits NFL players from kneeling during

the national anthem.

If they wish to protest they are allowed to stay in the locker room, and not be on the

field during the Anthem.

President Trump praised this decision but suggested the players need to be terminated

if they do not show respect for the Flag and our servicemembers.

Now, President Trump received some startling news about the Miami Dolphins and took to

Twitter to respond.

The President suggested that a "first time [kneeler]" should be suspended for that

game, and a second offense would lead to a year-long ban and no pay.

His tweet comes a day after the Associated Press obtained and published the preliminary

disciplinary plans for the Miami Dolphins.

They reportedly were considering both monetary fines as well as potential suspensions.

After that was released, the team released a statement trying to minimize the blowback,

while the NFL and NFL Players' Association issued a statement agreeing to continue looking

towards a long-term solution.

"In order to allow this constructive dialogue to continue," their statement said.

"We have come to a standstill agreement on the N.F.L.P.A.'s grievance and on the

N.F.L.'s anthem policy.

No new rules relating to the anthem will be issued or enforced for the next several weeks

while these confidential discussions are ongoing."

The league owners voted on a new policy in May that will force any player who remains

on the sideline for the anthem to stand — however, it does give players the option to stay in

the locker room.

The Giants co-owner Steve Tisch pushed back against President Trump's comments and said:

"Hopefully he'll have much more going on that he's going have to deal with and

should deal with and must deal with than worrying about what NFL players do,"

Tisch went on to say: "He has no understanding of why they take a knee or why they're protesting.

When the new season starts, I hope his priorities are not criticizing the NFL and telling owners

what to do and what not to do."

The NFL recently adopted a new policy that would require players, coaches, and staff

to stand during the national anthem after players.

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins had protested during the anthem in 2017 by raising his fist.

Giants linebacker Olivier Vernon and others took a knee in an act of silent dissent advocating

for criminal justice reform as well as against social injustice and racial bias.

But Tisch said the Giants won't suspend players who violate the policy, which is being

revisited by the NFL and NFLPA behind closed doors, according to a joint statement released

this week.

"We support our players," Tisch said.

"They are not going to be punished.

There is not going to be any punitive action taking place against them."

The owners agreed on a new national anthem policy in May.

All team and league personnel, including players, who are on the field for the pregame will

be required to stand and "show respect" for the flag and the anthem under terms of

the policy.

But it no longer is required that all players on the field for the anthem, meaning players

who wish to protest can stay inside the locker room or off the field.

The protests typically are meant to bring awareness to social injustices and/or police

brutality.

Powering Up the Family SUV in the 2018 Audi SQ5 | Edmunds - Duration: 8:30.

ELANA SCHERR: It's big on the inside

and small on the outside.

This is the Audi SQ5.

The 2018 Audi SQ5 has to meet a lot of expectations.

Because it's an Audi, it needs to be luxurious.

Because it's a Q5, people are going

to expect it to be a fun, small crossover.

Because it's an S model, you're going to want performance.

Today we're going to take it out and see if it

meets all those expectations.

The S in SQ5 means that it's the sporty version.

And rather than a four cylinder like in the Q5,

it has a six cylinder with a turbo.

And it's an excellent engine, very smooth.

It sounds good and has a ton of power on tap--

354 horsepower-- and they bumped up the torque for 2018.

It's more than 360.

The three liter turbo in the Audi

is backed by an 8 speed automatic transmission.

That's the only option that you can get,

but they work really well together.

The transmission is great about keeping the turbo engine

in its best powerband, no matter how quick you're going,

which gives you a lot of power just right off throttle,

especially if you're in some of the more dynamic driving modes.

And it is excellent power.

I mean, it's really a fast car.

This is an all wheel drive vehicle,

but it's a little bit rear weighted,

meaning that it drives a little more like a rear wheel drive

car which is nice.

It gives it that performance feel of the back end kind

of pushing the car forward.

The SQ5 has a ton of different options for the driving modes.

It has a normal driving mode, a comfort mode--

which I'm not a huge fan of.

I feel like it's a little bit like a jelly filled marshmallow

when you're in comfort.

It's definitely soft, though.

You don't feel any bumps in the road.

And then it has two off road all road

modes, which lifts the vehicle up and are

for light off-roading.

One mode that the Audi has that isn't a mode

that you see all the time is called auto.

And what that mode is supposed to do

is adjust to your driving style.

So if you're going slow or if the road's really bumpy,

theoretically it would be more in a comfort mode.

If you were on a curvy road and it

could tell you were really kind of getting on it a little bit,

it would tighten everything up.

And it's supposed to do that automatically.

I didn't notice it really responding to what I was doing,

but it might need more dramatic inputs.

I tend to be a pretty consistent driver, which is maybe always

a little too fast if you ask my husband.

There's a custom mode where you can go in and set what you

like about the different modes.

So say you like the marshmallow suspension

but you want the steering to be tight--

I don't know why you would want that combination,

but maybe you do--

you can do that.

More likely is maybe you like the comfort mode,

but you like the sound and the shifts of the dynamic mode.

So you can go in and get that louder engine

growl and a little bit tighter shifts.

To talk about handling in SUVs is something

that a few years ago probably none of us

thought we would be doing.

But now there's all these sort of compact SUVs and crossovers,

which are really more like cars.

So they're not huge.

It's not unreasonable to expect them to handle more like a car,

and some of them do.

In particular, the SQ5 is an excellent handling machine.

It really goes around the corners

exactly where you want it to.

It's very predictable.

You can get it into a setting where you really

don't feel any body roll.

You have no idea that you're sitting up high.

Every time that you choose a bigger car,

you're taking on a responsibility.

Everything about a larger car requires more distance,

more time to get up to speed, more time

to get down from speed, more time to make a turn.

And this car gives you a lot of confidence

that it is going to react exactly when you need it

to so it's not going to take a long distance to stop

if there's an emergency situation.

The brakes are excellent, and in particular on the SQ5

the brakes are larger than on the Q5.

From the inside of this car you might

think that the outside was huge and that you'd

have a lot of trouble turning it around,

but it's actually got a very small exterior and a very tight

turning radius.

Bam.

No problem.

I feel like a lot of times I'll get into a vehicle expecting

it to be huge inside, and it's small on the inside

and large on the outside.

And that's kind of a disappointment

both in usefulness and also in driveability.

This car is the opposite.

It's like Mary Poppins' purse or something.

It's really big in here, really roomy.

You can fit a lot of stuff.

I think the back seats are very comfortable.

The cargo space isn't the most that you can get in this class,

but it's certainly enough for me.

It's a pleasant surprise to be having fun driving

on a mountain road in an SUV.

Normally in a truck, I'd be like, ah.

Do I need to pull over?

Is there someone behind me?

Are they going too fast?

Am I going too slow?

After driving this, I would never

be satisfied with the regular Q5.

The SQ5 starts at about $55,000, and at that price

I think you're getting a lot for the money.

But you can add options and build it up really fast,

and this exact car is $68,000, which, in my opinion,

is a little bit more money than the car that you're getting.

One of the selling points for the Q5 is the interior,

and the SQ5 takes that to another level

by adding even more great materials and also

some sporty trim options.

A lot of these are very customizable,

so if you're not into carbon fiber there's wood options.

There's brushed metal things.

You can really make this car exactly how you want it to be.

And one of the things that I thought about when I first

got in this car was that it reminded me

of high fashion accessories.

There's a lot of different materials,

and they all work together to give

a general feeling of being much higher end and much more

built to spec.

Overall, I love the interior in this car.

My only gripe would be a couple of spots on the door panel

where I feel like it's a little inconsistent.

For example, it's got this nice brushed metal here

and the optional carbon fiber and the leather here,

but right here, the door pull where you actually

spend time touching the car is hard plastic.

Nothing on it at all, and I think

that's sort of a weird choice.

The rest of the interior, though, is glorious, especially

if you spend the extra money for the optional red pleated

leather seats, which my husband said were like a low rider.

But he meant that as a compliment.

In the front you've got a ton of room.

It's super comfortable.

You'll never feel cramped.

And the rear seats are very generous as well.

You'd have to be extremely tall to have

any complaints about them.

I feel like SUVs of this size are kind of like starter family

cars.

You could absolutely have a baby.

You could have a dog.

You could take it out for date night

when it's just the two of you.

You could drive it as a daily to work and not

feel especially wasteful, but it's not big enough

to have a huge family, or if you're doing

a whole lot of activities.

The SQ5 has an optional digital dash,

and that's something that a lot of people

are very excited about right now.

It's new technology.

It's very impressive and flashy.

It's also very expensive.

That might be something that's worth it to you

to have the map in here and to have it all be customizable.

I think it's distracting.

I'd rather be looking at the road

and know that if I need something,

it's all going to be in the center console.

The other thing that happens with having

the digital dash and all of the stuff that would normally

come in the regular Q5, there's a lot

of redundancy in the controls.

You can get to the map on the steering wheel.

You can get to the map here.

You can get to the air conditioning

from multiple places.

And once you have it figured out,

it's not the worst thing in the world.

But it's easy to get confused and not

remember how you got there in the first place.

Standard in the SQ5 is the giant sunroof,

which opens and really adds to the sense of space

that you have in the car.

It really brightens up the interior,

even if you don't get the bright red seats.

The pros of this car are the very fashionable interior

and the huge amount of space that you

have inside it compared to the exterior of the car.

I really think that that's something

where if you're going to be spending a lot of time

in a car, you want the interior to be comfortable

and you want to like the way it looks.

Overall, I had a great time in this car.

I think it stands out from the pack in terms of style,

and it has a lot of fun to drive.

It was able to do everything that I wanted,

from quick driving to carrying stuff around for the weekend.

And it was big enough to be comfortable but small enough

to park easily no matter where I was going.

Hold on to your hats, there's a good possibility that Hillary Clinton will, once again, run

for president.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange stated that Hillary is positioning herself to run in 2020.

On Twitter, Assange linked to a video flashback about Clinton refusing to concede to Obama

in 2008, suggesting that there was a possibility of an assassination like Robert Kennedy's.

Assange also quoted an October 2016 tweet from Hillary's official account which reads,

"Happy birthday to this future president."

The tweet included a picture of Hillary as a young girl.

Hillary has stated that after two failed attempts, she will not run for president again.

Many mainstream media journalists have been quick to point out it could still happen.

The Washington Post's Michael Brenes wrote that "Hillary Clinton would be well-positioned

to win in a rematch."

Brenes said that she might not be an official candidate right now, but the "political

winds can change."

American history is full of presidential contenders who lost elections, then went on to become

a candidate again in future elections.

Brenes added, "Clinton can win the presidency in 2020 thanks to a combination of demographic

and electoral shifts among voters and uncertainty about their futures."

The Chicago Tribune's Douglas MacKinnon, who worked successfully on three winning presidential

campaigns agreed with Brenes.

"Hillary Clinton likely sees an opening in 2020 for another presidential run," writes

MacKinnon, adding that the Democratic Party is starting to recognize "real signs popping

up that Hillary Clinton still is a political force to be reckoned with and that a path

could be cleared for her in 2020.
