NATIVE AMERICAN CREATION STORY; PIT TRIBES - Duration: 5:53.
hi it's tai bug and let me just rewind a bit so I've been feeling really
nostalgic this past couple of weeks and I was looking around on the internet and
on YouTube for some of the stories I used to hear growing up and I was really
sad to find out that they weren't on the internet really like you could find
stories about Goldilocks and all that but those are different types of stories
and the ones I grew up I'm Native American
I'm Apache and Cherokee and my godparents are in Navajo so I grew up
with a lot of those types of stories and like I was just really disappointed to
find that the stories I grew up with weren't online they weren't being told a
lot so I searched around my house and I found the book I grew up listening to
stories about these were my bedtime stories they are called
the telling of the world they're edited by WS pen all ish stories told by a
different person and he come compiled them all and like added art and all that
and just seeing this book almost brought me to tears because I thought we gave it
away and I just haven't heard them with such a long time I'm getting choked up a
little bit so I'm gonna tell you one of the first stories I was told from this
book and it's the creation of the world it's by the
River tribe sizes are the pit tribes and it's about coyote and Silver Fox and how
they created the world
so I'm not gonna read it word for word because I really encourage you guys to
get this book this book it's just such a perfect book and there's like a lot of
dialogue in here that doesn't really pertain to the story because it's kind
of like told between these two people so the story is told by Jaime de Angelo
sorry if I butchered that and I guess I'll get right into it it seems like
there was nothing everywhere but a kind of fog fog and water mixed they say no
land anywhere this here silver fox was wandering and feeling lonely he was
feeling lonely the silver fox I wish I would meet someone he said to himself
the silver fox did he was walking along the fog and he met coyote I thought I
was going to meet someone he said the coyote looked at him but didn't say
anything where are you travelling says Fox but where are you traveling why do
you travel like that because I am worried I am also wandering so the
coyote I am also worrying and travelling I
thought I would meet someone I thought I wouldn't meet someone lets you and I
travel together it's better for two people to be traveling together that's
what they always say well this coyote she says
what are we going to do now what do you think says Fox
I don't know says coyote well then says Fox I'll tell you let's make the world
how are we going to do that we will sing says the box so there they were singing
up there in the sky they were singing and stomping and dancing around each
other in a circle then the books he thought in his mind Columbus saw it come
that's why he made it come by thinking pretty soon he had it in his hand and he
was singing all the while he had it they were both singing and stomping all of a
sudden the Fox through the clump asad he threw it down into the clouds
don't look down he said to coyote keep on singing shut your eyes keep them shut
until I tell you so so they kept on see hands stomping around each other in
their circle for quite a while then the Fox sets coyote now look down there what
do you see I see something I see something but I don't know what it is
alright shut your eyes again now they started singing and stopping again and
Fox thought and wished stretch stretch now look down again what do you see oh
it's getting bigger show your eyes again don't look down
and they went on singing and stomping up there in the sky now look down again oh
no it's big enough so the coyote that's the way they made
the world they both choked down on it and they
stretched it some more then they Mane mountains and valleys they made trees
and rocks and everything took them a long time to do all that and that's the
very first story I'll tell you guys from this book
you guys want I'll make a series because there are so many good stories in this
book this is just one of the creation stories this one is specifically from
the pit trap but each tribe has their own variation of creation stories I just
I think that's so fascinating I'm infatuated with just everyone's
different ways of seeing the world and like it's just so interesting I hope you
guys enjoyed this if you want more just let me know because I'm so eager to tell
you guys more and I guess that's all I have for you guys today see you guys
later bye you
you

PGA golfer's curious behaviour continues with 'classless' finish - Duration: 4:05.
The 24-year-old is being criticised for blowing off the winner of the Porsche European Open, Richard McEvoy, after shooting a disastrous six-over 78 in the final round
It was just one incident in a series of recent controversies that have engulfed DeChambeau
DeChambeau finished in a tie for 13th place after entering Sunday's final round with a share of the lead
He exchanged only a brief handshake before blowing by McEvoy, his playing partner, in what is being described by one player as a "classless" act
"Has to be said, as far as classless handshakes go, that was a good'n!" Eddie Pepperell, who finished sixth at the British Open, wrote on Twitter
DeChambeau had been leading late in the final round, but his game started to crumble with five holes left
He shot five-over in those holes, including a triple bogey on 18. He later apologised to McEvoy, who sank a 20-footer on 18 to win the event, in an Instagram post
"I apologise to Richard McEvoy and the fans for my brevity on 18," DeChambeau wrote
"He is a class act, worthy champion and I enjoyed playing with him the past two days
" DeChambeau, who majored in physics at SMU and wears a Ben Hogan-style cap, has become known for a quirky swing, specially fitted equipment and bizarre analytical methods
He was caught on camera during the British Open having a meltdown at a Carnoustie driving range
He was told at the Travelers Championship by PGA Tour officials that his use of a drawing compass was illegal
DeChambeau said that the device helped him figure out "true pin locations." DeChambeau finished in a tie for 51st place at the British Open
He won the Memorial Tournament in a playoff earlier this year for his second PGA Tour victory

Understanding sowthistle - M.Widderick | 2017 Know More series | Northern region - Duration: 2:23.
Controlling sowthistle really requires an integrated approach, we do have cases of confirmed
glyphosate resistance and also resistance to some of our Group B herbicides like chlorsulfuron
and metsulfuron.
So we're now at a point in time we're we can no longer rely solely on herbicides for it's
control.
So we need to be introducing some non-chemical tactics as well, and some agronomic tactics.
Some of the characteristics that make sowthistle a major weed is that it can occur all year
round.
It does prefer temperatures between about five and 25 degrees for germination but if
there's enough moisture, it can germinate at 35 degrees.
Another reason is seed that sowthistle sets has no dormancy, so as soon as it's shed from
the parent plant if the environment's right for germination it can germinate, so you can
have multiple germinations throughout the year.
So the moisture requirements for sowthistle germination depend on the temperature it's
going to be existing in.
It generally needs at least four days of moisture, so that the seed can imbibe that moisture
and germinate.
The viability of sowthistle seed will depend on where it's sitting in the soil profile.
So seed that's left in the top one centimetre of the soil, generally retains its viability
for up to about two years - that's the maximum.
If it's buried to 10 centimetres, it can retain its viability for beyond three years.
Now having said that, seed that's in the surface one centimetre, most of it will decay quite
quickly so after two years it's probably between one and two per cent of that remaining viable.
If you contrast that with seed that's buried at 10 centimetres, up to 20 per cent of that
is viable, after two years of burial.
Generally for sowthistle, if you're keeping the seed on or close to the soil surface that
seed bank's going to be driven down quite quickly as long as you don't have any other
replenishment of the seed.
So controlling your sowthistle in your non-crop areas is quite important cause that's where
you can get incursions of new seed.

Understanding and controlling feathertop Rhodes grass - M.Widderick | 2017 Know More series | North - Duration: 3:08.
Feathertop Rhodes grass is a really quickly growing weed.
It will emerge after only two days of moisture and then its growth rate's quite quick.
Quite small, light, fluffy seeds, most of them will land close to the parent plant.
Those seeds do have a dormancy so it's between six and 10 weeks, but after that period of
time, if the temperature's right and if the moisture is right, you can get a large flush
of emergence from those seeds that have been dispersed.
Another characteristic of feathertop Rhodes grass that makes it a particularly problematic
weed is that it's difficult to control with herbicides.
Now there's two different aspects on that, the first one is it grows very quickly, so
with any weed species the larger the plant, the more difficult it is to control you just
don't get enough herbicide into it.
Second aspect is it stresses very quickly because it's a summer weed, it's in hot, dry
summer conditions it then makes it very difficult to control with herbicides.
In the seedling state, feathertop Rhodes grass can be identified by its flattened stem.
When it's very small and you may have something like barnyard grass or windmill grass, all
in the same population, it can be difficult to distinguish but once it gets to probably
about a three to five centimetre stage, it has quite a predominant flattening of the
stem.
Feathertop Rhodes grass prefers to germinate above about 25 degrees celsius up to about
35 degrees.
It does need moisture for only about two to three days for germination.
In summer, if you're getting rainfall over a couple of days and if it's enough to keep
the soil moist, you'll get a flush of emergence.
The seed of feathertop Rhodes grass is fairly short lived in the soil so it's one of those
weaknesses that we can really take advantage of.
Seed that's on the soil surface, most of it's gone after 12 months and the good thing is
seed that's buried most of that is also gone after 12 months.
So if you can stop seed set and replenishment of that soil seed bank for 12 months, you
should be able to get onto the feathertop problem quite quickly.
Herbicides still remain a critical component of managing feathertop Rhodes grass, but the
key to effective herbicide application or use on this species is to apply it to small
plants.
Once you get to the tillering stage, the efficacy of any herbicide treatment whether that's
applied alone, in mixture or as a double knock, that efficacy drops off once you get to the
tillering stage with feathertop Rhodes grass.
Once feathertop Rhodes grass has gone beyond the tillering stage, herbicides are really
quite ineffective in its control therefore you have to resort to things like hand removal
or chipping which is an approach that can be used if you've got a low density of feathertop
in your fallow.

Managing glyphosate resistance in sowthistle p. 1 - M.Widderick | 2017 Know More series | North - Duration: 1:50.
Sowthistle's one of our key weed species in our cropping sytems, it's a weed of fallow,
it's a weed in crop.
Sowthistle resistance spreads right from central Queensland all the way down to the Liverpool
Plains of New South Wales.
In a recent survey that was done in 2015/16 we found 23 populations of sowthistle were
resistant to glyposate and those 23 populations were 19 per cent of all the populations that
we tested.
So you know we're already around that 20 per cent mark, there's still a lot of people relying
on glyphosate for their fallow control of sowthistle so I can only see that number increasing
over the coming years.
Glyphosate resistance in any weed can be picked up when it's at a very low level in terms
of density in a paddock.
There's two key things to look for.
The first thing is glyphosate has previously been working on sowthistle and now it's not
working, the other thing is to look at the other weed species that you've got surrounding
the sowthistle, so if glyphosate is still controlling those other weed species but now
sowthistle is not being controlled, more than likely you may have an issue with glyphosate
resistance.
If you suspect you've got glyphosate resistance in your sowthistle, the only real way to confirm
it is to have an official test done on it.
So there are two testing facilities within Australia that will accept samples for testing,
one of them is based at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, and the other one is based
in Adelaide with Plant Science Consulting.
-------------------------------------------
Managing glyphosate resistance in sowthistle p.2 - M.Widderick | 2017 Know More series | North - Duration: 2:24.
Glyphosate resistance is already changing the way that we farm in the north.
Glyphosate's one of those herbicides that's very flexible, it's quite safe to use and
has been very effective on our fallow weed control.
As a result though of our over-reliance on glyphosate we've now got resistance to this
herbicide so the approach that we take in particular in our fallow weed situations has
to change and is changing towards different herbicides, different approaches in how we
apply the herbicide and also non-chemical tactics.
In terms of managing sowthistle resistance, you've kind of got two different aspects,
you've got the prevention aspect and then you've got the managing once you've got resistance.
There's that old adage that prevention is better than cure and I think that definitely
is the case when you're talking about resistance to any chemical mode of action and any weed
species.
If you think about resistance in the long term, let's say you've got glyphosate resistance
in sowthistle, that then infers you no longer can use glyphosate to control your sowthistle.
In talking about preventing resistance, what you need to be doing is looking at using different
herbicide modes of action in combination with your glyphosate, stopping that seed set on
any survivors.
So if you've gone through and you've applied glyphosate and it hasn't been effective, you
really need to come back and do something so that you can stop seed set.
Now if you've applied glyphosate and it hasn't worked, don't go back and apply another glyphosate,
try something different.
I think too because sowthistle is a weed that can occur anytime of the year and it can occur
in crop and in fallow, if you can get good in crop control of sowthistle, so you're not
getting that seed set in crop, it means then that the weed density that you're likely to
get in the subsequent fallow will be lower.
So if you're able to preserve glyphosate as a useful herbicide in your system, it will
mean that you're able to have it as a useful weed management component in your fallows
from now moving forward.
-------------------------------------------
Double knock on sowthistle - M.Widderick | 2017 Know More series | Northern Region - Duration: 1:57.
The double knock tactic can be quite effective on controlling sowthistle in a fallow situation.
The double knock is applying two herbicides sequentially, so generally with sowthistle
we'd say at least seven days up to 14 days apart.
It's important to note that these two herbicides are from different herbicide modes of action.
The principle of the double knock tactic is that the second knock will control any survivors
of the first knock.
So what is critical in terms of applying the double knock effectively, is that you need
to have healthily active growing plants for the first knock and when you're applying the
second knock, you still need some green material left.
That's because the second knock is generally a contact herbicide so you need some green
material there.
If you come in to quickly with your second knock, it may not allow the first knock herbicide
to have its full affect so you're putting a lot of pressure on that second knock for
full control.
If you wait too long between your first and second knock, you may allow survivors to re-grow
and produce a lot of green material such that you're then placing a lot of difficulty on
that second knock to get coverage over the whole plant, because generally that's a contact
herbicide such as paraquat.
So the double knock is effective on sowthistle but the effectiveness is impacted on by the
age of the weed, so you get greater efficacy on smaller sowthistle that are about that
five to 10 centimetre rosette stage.
Once you get sowthistle that are elongating, so they're sending up their main stem the
efficacy of double knock does reduce.

BookTubeAThon 2018 | Day One! - Duration: 5:23.
It is the first day of BookTubeAThon and already I'm three books into the
challenge. I read the first two right as the BookTubeAThon started. It is 12
minutes past midnight and I've just finished reading my first two books
for BookTubeAThon. And now I'm gonna go sleep. The first book I read was The Journey by Francesca Sanna. This is a
children's book about the journey of refugees. The author spoke to many
refugees and immigrants about their journeys and their stories and from all
of that she created this story for kids and I thought it was really great. And
I'm gonna give it a 4 out of 5 stars. The next book I read was Marcel by Edna
Akaltun, this book is about a little puppy in New York City who doesn't like
change. I am giving it 3 out of 5 stars. Then today I read Return to Labyrinth.
The fourth and final book in this Tokyopop series. At times this felt like
bad fanfiction or maybe even like mediocre, like, kind of okay fanfiction.
Same with the art, it was kind of like, kind of okay fan art. It didn't feel like
what actually happens after the film and I know that this is just one creative's
idea and interpretation. And it's not like necessarily 'canon,' but it is
official. It's, you know, Jim Henson Company gave permission for this to
exist so they must have liked it enough. Um, I don't know. It had a really cute ending. I
liked the ending, I liked the message at the end. And yeah, a lot of the familiar
characters were in it. But a lot of the times when they were around, it felt
almost as if they were saying lines similar to the movie to try
and get you to make that association again. And it just it it felt a little
forced. I was just disappointed, I wanted to be amazing and I don't think it was
amazing. But it wasn't terrible. However if you do want to see Labyrinth in comic
form, I recommend this by Arcadia. This is, this
is really good. I really like this. It's a prequel whereas this is a sequel,
continuation. I'm probably gonna give this like, three stars, because I
didn't hate it. It is Labyrinth, it is this world I
like, but you know. So far I have completed four of the seven challenges
and three of the seven books. Coin toss, beautiful spine, book to movie adaptation,
the color green. This has been, it's been so chill. In fact I think the most stressful
part of this BookTubeAThon is going to be these videos, not the actual reading.
So... And in fact I've also read a chapter of The Magician's Land because I'm in
the middle of this series and it's not a part of my BookTubeAThon
TBR. But I'm still gonna read this this week, because I'm really into it. So then next
I did the video challenge, which was to recreate a book cover using everyday
household items in under five minutes. I think it took me two minutes to do it.
But yeah, cut to, cut to that clip.
[music]
So as you can see, I recreated Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. It
is a pretty simple cover, this, these editions of his books have pretty simple
covers. I think my adorable backpack makes a creepy slash adorable skull, so I
think I did a pretty good job. If you liked what you see here and you would
like to support me I have a Patreon. You can you become a Patreon, it's fun. Or you
can subscribe. I hit three thousand and then I, and then I lost like ten. So I got
to feel that for like a day or two. Subscribe to help me feel that again.
Happy reading! Meow

Jennie Yelvington on #TeamTeri - Duration: 1:16.
Hi my name is Jennie Yelvington and I've been a friend of Teri Banas for about
20 years. She is a public servant to the core like you just don't see anymore in
politics. What has really impressed me about Teri over
time is how deeply she cares about people. She cares about her community, she
cares about friends, she cares about friends' friends, I mean it doesn't matter -
she has this deep passion for being there for people and trying to help people be
at their best. She served our community in so many ways.
She sees a problem and she goes after it and tries to get it done and she
does! She led the charge on the Haslett Beautification Committee so our town
looks so much prettier than it used to and more welcoming. She has seen problems in
the community and she just worked hard to fix them. She is kind of
relentless in that way, she's really tenacious. She goes after things and just
has this can-do attitude - "Oh well that's a problem? I'll fix it!" and then she does!
It's really amazing.
