this is a BB gun from AW Custom

Armorer Works Custom

the HX2401 .38caliber SuperComp Race Pistol

delivered in a nice box with the AWC logo

so, what about AW Custom?

This is a Taiwanese company

they've been selling custom guns for a few months now

It's been available in France since November 2016

there are many different models

the guns were originally assembled at WE's facilities

but now they've got their own factory

that's why at the beginning people told that AWC was another wing of WE

simply know that WE, AWC or VFC for instance, do not "built" their own parts, they outsource

as car makers do, if you buy a Peugeot, Peugeot doesn't built every part of the car, they also outsource but assemble cars

AW Customs design a project and then they buy parts depending on their specifications

and then assemble the replicas

let's check the content of the box

you can try and use these flashcodes, they don't work with my cell phone you may be luckier than me.

there's an owner's manual, well, a sheet

telling you to go on line

here are the main things to know about the gun

and they tell you to register

so you can be a part of the AWC community and share your experience

they're not the only ones to do so

this sheet is specific to France

it is mandatory to have a reminder about airsoft regulations

now here's the magazine

it is a Hi-capa 30-BB gas magazine

know that those guns are also compatible with CO²

there's a nice red-colored gas route

well, there's nothing inside my box

this may be a presentation gun or a sample, I don't know

here is a picture of the fully equipped gun

this is the AWC HK2401 .38 SuperComp Race Pistol

it is massive

based on a hi-capa platform

but heavily customized

everything has been tuned bu AWC and each gun is unique

very performant, well, that's 279€

I didn't think they would sell many of those

but it seems that many players have fallen for the whole range

he nice thing being that there are almost no warranty returns

the butt is made of sturdy plastic

with a honeycomb pattern

the logo here

there's a nice magwell extension

with a falcon here, or an eagle

it is easier to insert the magazine thanks to this extension

if you don't like the look of it, remove the pin, the extension and then reassemble the gun using a regular 1911/hi-capa pin

it'd be too bad, this is a whole

when you insert the mag, the logo pops out because of the different colors

a part of the frame and the whole slide are made of alloy

and theres a huge compensator

the sides are brushed

and the rest has been painted matt black

I didn't think I'd like it but it is very nice

it changes from classic guns

but I must admit I'm not a big fan of the compensator

of course there are a lot of other guns available at AWC

there are holes on each side of the frame so you can attach the rail

the markings are really crisp

a bit less on the frame

and there's the year of the model here

big big apologies to Chinese-speaking people here!

these symbols mean "spirit of the wind"

there are serrations at the back of the slide

as well as at the front

the front has been drilled

I've been asked if the paint was as fragile as on WE guns

it looks sturdier

I'm not saying it'll last for years

but it seems tough

the trigger guard also has a special design

and the polished trigger is very nice

very agressive

of course there's a beaver tail safety

as well as an ambidextrous thumb safety

the latest can only be operated when the hammer is cocked

the hammer is also polished

as well as the magazine release

the metal-made outer barrel is marked with the calibre

the front sight is equipped with optic fiber

the rear sight can be adjusted in height and windage

I'm a bit shaky with my left hand

need drugs I guess...

you can mount a laser or a flashlight thanks to the Picatinny rail

and of course the slide catch works

as you can see, this is what they call a "split slide"

it's been machined here so it fits the compensator

the recoil is very nice

the cycle is fast as light!

I've used propane, well, green gas, it's the same thing

it's nice to see that there's a separate part for the extractor, sometimes it is only molded in the slide

and there's a fake firing pin

you can push it

small detail but nice to see

the trigger feels good

almost no slack

then you reach the wall

and you feel the wall

there's a very short reset

this is a big gun

let's check what's inside

because for this amount of money you can expect proper parts

AWC say that every gun is unique, with very tight tolerance

of course there's a bit of wobble between the frame and the slide so the gun can actually cycle

stripping the gun is similar to a regular 1911/hi-capa

no surprise here, but at least they lubricated the gun

but here you can notice the red parts

so, you may have trouble stripping the gun because they've chosen to use a long spring guide

most of the time on 1911s there are short guides

but here it goes all the way down

so pull the spring housing and move the spring guide sideways

now the barrel is supposed to go through the slide

here, it's not the case

so I'll remove the small guide on the hop-up unit

wow that's a long barrel !

the compensator is probably screwed, and it seems to be assembled using Loctite

so I won't force

there's a small defect here, the compensator has not been properly injected

the reinforced BBH and the piston

as well as the reinforced nozzle

so it can take gas and CO²

the firing pin here

a 166mm-long inner barrel

the issue you can encounter here is that the velocity will increase drastically

I cheated a bit, I've already done the shooting tests

the velocity was measured at 350-360 FPS

a bit too much for a handgun

but this is Marui-compatible so you'll have no trouble finding a shorter barrel

we'll talk about the details in the complete written review

the overall quality seems good

but we need to know if the gun is durable

you can see that the paint is not indestructible

of course here it is normal, this is the place where the slide goes

I'll put it back together

the hop-up adjusting wheel isn't loose so the setting shouldn't move in game

once again, sideways

mind your fingers, I've just pinched myself between the slide and the compensator

I'm done with this overview of the AWC HX2401 .38 SuperComp Race Pistol

gas and CO²-compatible

it comes with a cocking lever and a rail

the finish is nice

you'll see during the shooting tests that performances are also noce

but this gun is a bit too powerful to use in game

I'll test if I can reduce it by installing a shorter barrel

here is a picture of the fully equipped gun

this is the AWC HK2401 .38 SuperComp Race Pistol

it is massive

based on a hi-capa platform

but heavily customized

everything has been tuned bu AWC and each gun is unique

very performant, well, that's 279€

I didn't think they would sell many of those

but it seems that many players have fallen for the whole range

he nice thing being that there are almost no warranty returns

the butt is made of sturdy plastic

with a honeycomb pattern

the logo here

there's a nice magwell extension

with a falcon here, or an eagle

it is easier to insert the magazine thanks to this extension

if you don't like the look of it, remove the pin, the extension and then reassemble the gun using a regular 1911/hi-capa pin

it'd be too bad, this is a whole

when you insert the mag, the logo pops out because of the different colors

a part of the frame and the whole slide are made of alloy

and theres a huge compensator

the sides are brushed

and the rest has been painted matt black

I didn't think I'd like it but it is very nice

it changes from classic guns

but I must admit I'm not a big fan of the compensator

of course there are a lot of other guns available at AWC

there are holes on each side of the frame so you can attach the rail

the markings are really crisp

a bit less on the frame

and there's the year of the model here

big big apologies to Chinese-speaking people here!

these symbols mean "spirit of the wind"

there are serrations at the back of the slide

as well as at the front

the front has been drilled

I've been asked if the paint was as fragile as on WE guns

it looks sturdier

I'm not saying it'll last for years

but it seems tough

the trigger guard also has a special design

and the polished trigger is very nice

very agressive

of course there's a beaver tail safety

as well as an ambidextrous thumb safety

the latest can only be operated when the hammer is cocked

the hammer is also polished

as well as the magazine release

the metal-made outer barrel is marked with the calibre

the front sight is equipped with optic fiber

the rear sight can be adjusted in height and windage

I'm a bit shaky with my left hand

need drugs I guess...

you can mount a laser or a flashlight thanks to the Picatinny rail

and of course the slide catch works

as you can see, this is what they call a "split slide"

it's been machined here so it fits the compensator

the recoil is very nice

the cycle is fast as light!

I've used propane, well, green gas, it's the same thing

it's nice to see that there's a separate part for the extractor, sometimes it is only molded in the slide

and there's a fake firing pin

you can push it

small detail but nice to see

the trigger feels good

almost no slack

then you reach the wall

and you feel the wall

there's a very short reset

this is a big gun

let's check what's inside

because for this amount of money you can expect proper parts

AWC say that every gun is unique, with very tight tolerance

of course there's a bit of wobble between the frame and the slide so the gun can actually cycle

stripping the gun is similar to a regular 1911/hi-capa

no surprise here, but at least they lubricated the gun

but here you can notice the red parts

so, you may have trouble stripping the gun because they've chosen to use a long spring guide

most of the time on 1911s there are short guides

but here it goes all the way down

so pull the spring housing and move the spring guide sideways

now the barrel is supposed to go through the slide

here, it's not the case

so I'll remove the small guide on the hop-up unit

wow that's a long barrel !

the compensator is probably screwed, and it seems to be assembled using Loctite

so I won't force

there's a small defect here, the compensator has not been properly injected

the reinforced BBH and the piston

as well as the reinforced nozzle

so it can take gas and CO²

the firing pin here

a 166mm-long inner barrel

the issue you can encounter here is that the velocity will increase drastically

I cheated a bit, I've already done the shooting tests

the velocity was measured at 350-360 FPS

a bit too much for a handgun

but this is Marui-compatible so you'll have no trouble finding a shorter barrel

we'll talk about the details in the complete written review

the overall quality seems good

but we need to know if the gun is durable

you can see that the paint is not indestructible

of course here it is normal, this is the place where the slide goes

I'll put it back together

the hop-up adjusting wheel isn't loose so the setting shouldn't move in game

once again, sideways

mind your fingers, I've just pinched myself between the slide and the compensator

gas and CO²-compatible

it comes with a cocking lever and a rail

the finish is nice

you'll see during the shooting tests that performances are also noce

but this gun is a bit too powerful to use in game

I'll test if I can reduce it by installing a shorter barrel
