Youtube daily report May 14 2017

THERE IS AN ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE.

IT IS

PRO-PRIVACY, A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, THEY WERE

CONCERNED WITH THE FACT THAT OUR LAWMAKERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF

ALLOWING INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS TO SELL OFF OUR DATA

TO THIRD PARTIES.

IN REGARD TO WHAT THESE LAWMAKERS DID, THEY

WANTED TO KIND OF CALL THEM OUT AND MAKE SURE THE AMERICAN

PUBLIC KNOWS WHAT REALLY INFLUENCED THESE POLITICIANS --

LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT THESE BILLBOARDS LOOK LIKE.

THIS IS

THE ONE FOR HELLER, HE TOOK $345,000 FROM TELECOMS THEN HE

VOTED TO LET THEM SELL YOUR WEB HISTORY WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION.

I LOVE IT.

THEN YOU SEE A SIMILAR BILLBOARD FOR OTHER

LAWMAKERS, THERE'S RUTHERFORD, HERE'S ANOTHER ONE FOR

BLACKBURN.

I LOVE THAT IT INCLUDES THE DOLLAR AMOUNT, IT

RAISES SOME AWARENESS ABOUT THE CORRUPTION THAT'S PLAYING A ROLE

IN THEIR DECISION-MAKING AND CONGRESS.

THAT IS GOOD STUFF.

A COUPLE CHANGES I WOULD MAKE, BUT THOSE

ARE GOOD.

USE THEIR FIRST NAMES, DON'T CONFUSE PEOPLE, WE DON'T

KNOW WHO OUR CONGRESSMEN ARE.

SENATOR DEAN HELLER BETRAYED YOU

-- HELP PEOPLE OUT, THEY ARE DRIVING, MOVING FAST --

WHERE IT SAYS HELLER IT SHOULD SAY SENATOR DEAN HELLER, YOU ARE

RIGHT.

YOUR SENATOR TOOK $345,000.

IT'S LESS OF AN IMPACT WITHOUT THAT.

THEY DIDN'T ASK ME, BUT THIS IS THE RIGHT STRATEGY.

SO MANY

LITTLE THINGS, THIS IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS HEALTHCARE, BUT

TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES SELLING YOUR BROWSER HISTORY --

NOT UNIMPORTANT.

IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

AND THE COALITION OF PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR PRIVACY RIGHTS

IS SO SMALL, IT'S MOST DEMOCRATS BUT NOT ALL, AND THEN A HANDFUL

OF REPUBLICANS WHO ARE SORT OF THE LIBERTARIAN ASPECT OF THEM

IS THE STRONGEST PART OF THEM, OR IS THERE DEFINING

CHARACTERISTIC.

YOU LOSE A COUPLE OF THOSE SEATS AND ALL OF

A SUDDEN YOU ARE ON THE LOSING END, THEN YOU WILL GET, LIKE WE

ARE GOING TO LOSE NET NEUTRALITY AND VOTES LIKE THIS.

SHOULD BE A BLOODBATH IN 2018, LET'S SEE HOW THEY SCREW IT UP.

ONE OTHER QUICK COMMENT ABOUT THE BILLBOARDS, I LOVE THAT IT

ALSO INCLUDES THE PHONE NUMBER FOR THESE LAWMAKERS.

GIVE THEM A

CALL AND GIVE THEM A PIECE OF YOUR MIND.

AGAIN, I KEEP SAYING

THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, IT'S LIKE THE ONE GOOD THING YOU CAN

KIND OF FOCUS ON IS ALL THESE TERRIBLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING --

PEOPLE ARE ENGAGED AND THEY ARE TAKING TO THE STREETS.

HOW MANY

MARCHES HAVE THERE BEEN?

MANY PEOPLE JOINED THESE MARCHES.

IF THIS WERE A NORMAL COUNTRY AND WE DETERMINED THESE

DISTRICTS NORMALLY -- IN 2012 WHERE REPUBLICANS GAINED SEATS,

DEMOCRATS DOMINATED.

THEY HAD 1.5 MILLION MORE VOTES FOR THE

HOUSE.

YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO TURN THAT INTO SOMETHING USEFUL.

AND IT WOULD BE, IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER IF THEY HAD MORE

THREATENED DISTRICTS.

I'M GUESSING MARSHA BLACKBURN'S

TENNESSEE DISTRICT IS SAFE.

DEAN HELLER IS GOING TO LOSE.

WHATEVER DATE IT IS, MARK IT DOWN -- HE SAID I'M GOING TO

WATCH SPEEDY GONZALES CARTOONS --

JOSH MALINA WAS LIKE I WANT

TO SEE WHAT YOU WILL TWEET ON ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE DAY.

I WILL NOT PAY RETAIL.

DEAN HELLER IN NEVADA, WHICH WAS THE ONLY STATE IN THE UNION

IN 2016 WHERE YOU WERE LIKE, HUH, LOOK, DEMOCRATS DID PRETTY

WELL -- IF I WERE DEAN HELLER I WOULDN'T EVEN RUN FOR REELECTION

BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE.

Menaphos Double XP Weekend - RuneScape's last-minute tips - Duration: 3:03.

The Double XP Weekend is mere moments away, arriving on Friday the 19th.

But for many of you, that will be something of a surprise.

So how do you prepare when there's only a few hours to go

and everyone's jumped onto to the Grand Exchange like it's Black Friday?

We've compiled some last-minute tips and easy-wins

so that you can make the most out of your Double XP Weekend.

If you're doing any bankstanding skills this Double XP Weekend, have a look and go into the highly populated areas

such as the Combat Academy or the Lumbridge Crater

because there you'll find other people who are using things like pulse cores

which can give you up to an additional 10% of bonus experience.

If you have a refer-a-friend scroll, make sure you use it on Double XP Weekend so you get 20% bonus instead of 10% bonus.

A quick way to gain extra XP this Double XP Weekend is to join a clan.

You can get 3% extra XP by skilling with your clanmates

or, if you run the clan avatar, you can get an extra 6% XP, which is some serious gains.

Try to avoid skills where you're competing with other players for resources.

This could be things like Mining, Hunter or Slayer.

Go for a skill that you know you're not gonna be completing. You have your own resources.

Things like the Arc island.

I suggest trying to find a good island before Double XP Weekend and fly back.

If you wanna do Slayer over the weekend,

then try to get Slayer assignments that you can do without the interference of other players.

For example, muspahs, nihils or even boss monsters like the dagannoth kings instead of the regular dagannoths.

Make sure you get enough sleep so you can grind down all the skills you want to do.

Portables. Try to group up with your friends, your clan members and use them together.

A very popular spot in game is currently the Combat Academy.

Keep hopping worlds and you might find the portable you need.

Top tip for Double XP Weekend is to get plenty of snacks, plenty of drinks,

good music, good films or tv shows, and sleep is XP waste.

Before Menaphos, make sure you unlock the crystallise spell. It may come in useful.

To unlock crystallise do the The Light Within quest.

And a cheeky final one from me.

Less of a tip and more something to be aware of.

Menaphos is coming on June 5th and, while there are only a few novice quests to enter the city,

you'll be wanting some additional levels to make the most of what's there.

Train Slayer up to level 87 to access the Slayer dungeon.

You'll also want to get level 50 in Agility, Construction, Crafting, Divination,

Dungeoneering, Prayer, Runecrafting and Thieving to access the skilling tombs.

But get level 70 and 90 in those same skills and you'll make that loot cake even tastier.

If you want more information about Menaphos,

check out our microsite which is linked in the description below.

And let us know what you are training this Double XP Weekend.

Give us a pointer in the comments. Maybe share your top tips and tricks with everybody.

Have a great Double XP Weekend and happy 'scaping!

DOUBLE XP WEEKEND

I can't undo that now. Where's my mum?

How to Use a Jade Roller for Facial Massage | Byrdie - Duration: 3:12.

Hey, guys!

This is Victoria.

I'm the news editor at Byrdie, and I'm really excited to share one of my favorite skincare

rituals, which is called jade rolling.

So right now what's really new and now in beauty is this really cool merging of Eastern

and Western culture, and that's seen in wellness, in beauty, kind of all over.

And it's really exciting that we're looking beyond our own borders at these techniques,

which—a lot of them are really ancient, and jade rolling is a really great example

of that.

This is a jade roller—it's made of jade stone, hence the name—and jade is used in

ancient Chinese tradition to ward off negative energy, to balance your chi, and just bring

on some good vibes, so that's all really nice, but it has a really practical use as well,

and that is basically to function as a facial massage tool.

It stimulates collagen, it lifts your facial muscles, and then also it makes your products

absorb really deeply.

This jade roller is from Ling Skincare, and the founder and owner of Ling is Ling Chan,

a really, really talented esthetician, and she once gave me a valuable piece of skincare

advice, and that is to think of your skin cells like roof shingles.

So if you look at a roof and the way that the shingles are layered, the opening is always

at the bottom, and our skin cells are actually arranged in a very similar way, and that's

really important to remember whether your cleansing, applying product, or using a massage

tool or just your hands to always apply in an upward motion.

And that's kind of the theme of jade rolling.

It really does lift and use that upward motion, and so you're really hitting all the skin

cells, allowing whatever product you're using with it to absorb better.

And you can use any product that you like—usually it's a moisturizer.

I like using a serum or a cream, and I have two wonderful ones with me today.

The Kypris is a little less wallet friendly, but it's phenomenal.

It's called Moonlight Catalyst, it's full of peptides, it's really wonderful for slathering

on at night and waking up to really bright, refreshed skin.

And then the other one is from one of my personal favorite brands, French Girl, and this is

their brand-new facial serum.

It's made with neroli, which is like one of my favorite scents, so I love this one.

I'm going to use the Kypris.

You just apply a few drops of your preferred product, so you want to put on a really nice

layer of that just to help the jade stone glide a little bit better on your skin.

And then you just roll, and it's really simple—you just roll up, you just target every area of

your face.

Once you feel like you've kind of given yourself a boost, then proceed with your regular skincare

routine, makeup routine, and you're good to go.

I actually really love doing this first thing in the morning, too, because the stone is

really cool, so it's really good for puffy eyes or under-eye bags.

If you want to get more details in the background of jade rolling and what products are best

to use with it, you can check out a story I actually wrote about it for Byrdie, and

it's on byrdie.com right now.

And as always, if you want any other pointers or tips or tutorials, have any request, just

let us know, and we will answer your questions.

Visiting an ABANDONED farm with a viewer! [ENG CC SUBS] - Duration: 10:51.

' Ferme de Maraichage'

According to the Internet this building would be a protected monument.

where the time has stopped.

I've heard rumors that they used this a while as an museum.

We don't know anything from the people who lived here.

But, we bet that they weren't poor at all!

They often ask me to go on journey with me,

unfortunately that isn't always possible.

But sometimes, it is possible!

I sended a message on Instagram to one of my viewers

to ask her if she wanted to join me for a day.

Quickly she responded my text with 'yes'

We made some plans together and two weeks later was the day we met!

OK, we're on the domain..

At first look it is...

bigger than I thought.

There's an open door, so we can go inside easily.

We're walking into the first room now,

[Oemmie] : Ieeew,,, It's gross

[Takiany] : Oemmie thinks it's dirty

[Oemmie] : That bidet as you know...

Not, that thing for your feet but for...

Other parts....

[Takiany] Other body parts, OK

but, It's dirty indeed...

It's strange to see that there's a sofa in the bathroom.

[Oemmie] : And a holy virgin.

[Takiany] : And a holy virgin, indeed...

It's the first time for Julie to visit an abandoned location.

So, I think that she's excited now.

[Julie] : Yes...

I'm walking into the second room now.

I see some chairs,

Cabinets, tables.

Also in this building they left everything behind.

Some old photo's probably from the people who lived here.

The phone is still connected, but I don't think it will work....

No, it doesn't.

This is a kind of thermometer.

But I've no clue where...

... it's attached to.

Something strange.

There are still some plates on the table.

It feels like...

...they just left.

Or someone has posted this in a scene.

Or someone has posted this in a scene. but it's...

This is also something very old...

Do you know what it is Oemmie?

[Oemmie] : I don't know..

Maybe, it's something for coffee.

I don't know.

[Takiany] : It's something to milk cows.

Do you really wanna go in there?!

[Julie] : Yes, I want!

[Takiany] : OK

Shall we visit it as last or do you want to visit it now?

[Oemmie] : I want to do it as last.

[Julie] : Yes, me either.

[Takiany] : OK, then let's explore the basement as last.

It's huge in here.

I'm walking into another hallway now.

There are so many of them.

Basically this was a farm with a house. but It's super huge!

[Oemmie] : That's scary, there's a sofa with a photo on it.

[Takiany] : A sofa with a photo on it...

And what about that television...

I think it's weird that they left everything behind.

Pal, this photo on the sofa...

This picture was taken in this house!

So, that means that this where the people who lived here.

And this is a really old remote...

Wait... they had remotes in that time?!

it surprises me that this building is in well state

because it's near a busy road.

Everyone who passes by can see, OK, it's abandon....

[Julie] : Hey, there's a funeral card lying on the ground.

[Takiany] : A funeral card?!

Indeed.

I've been more often to places where there where picture's...

...But there are so many of them in this house.

So, let's explore another room.

I guess this was the dinner room.

It's beautiful and in well state.

Some old playing cards on the table.

an ashtray.

with still some ash in it.

It's incredible to see that fireplace in this state.

It looks like they just cleaned it!

And here you can see...

... It's a photo from Lourdes.

The cave from Lourdes.

Unfortunately the glass from this photo is broken.

The people who lived here where believers of God.

You can see it, all those holy figurines

photo's from lourdes, Also there's a....

cross of Jesus Christ above the mirror.

This is an really old doorbell, I don't think it would still work.

[Oemmie] : Try it when you're outside!

[Takiany] : As you wish..

[Oemmie] : You always doing that!

[Takiany] : The light doesn't work.

A couple of times the light went on! :p

Ooh!, this room!

[Oemmie] : An urinal!

[Takiany] : What?! an urinal?

Oh, this thing, Yes, I see...

Is it really..

[Oemmie] : Yes, It's an urinal.

Uhm... you touch it..

[Takiany] : It's this thing!!?

I thought it was...

I thought that there was a hole in the chair!

*sh*t*

It was not just a family who lived here.. It's way too big!

[Oemmie] : I think that this building was a place for older people

that can't live on their own.

There are buttons in every room connected to a bell.

Probably someone came to help them when those buttons were pressed.

let's continue our exploration.

I think this was where all the bedrooms were.

There's a huge bed inside this room.

I already told you in one of my previous videos

that they had big beds in the past.

Just like, as you can see here.

Actually this is a more creepy spot, the television.

It does remind me to...

... a horror movie.

Again, a beautiful fireplace.

Crosses, figurines , photos...

I've no clue what those figurines are...

[Oemmie] : It's from China.

[Takiany] : From China?!

[Oemmie] : Yes, it's Chinese.

In this room we notice some vandalism.

The room next to this one either.

But in here, it's in well state.

Let's have a look what's there in that wardrobe.

[Oemmie] : Nothing.

but spiderwebs.

They removed they clothes...

normally we see beautiful chandeliers in abandoned buildings..

..but this one is... I've no idea men... I never seen a thing like this before.

Time for another bedroom.

We find that it is very small in here.

There isn't much space next to the bed.

[Julie] : The door handle is low.

[Takiany] : Now you say it.

But, you know.. People where smaller in the past.

[Julie] : Yes, indeed.

[Takiany] : Let's go upstairs now.

You're not going to like this Oemmie

It looks so spooky up here.

[Julie] : Oh my God.

[Takiany] : What the fuck is this....

There are even more beds up here!

on the attic.

See, it's totally collapsed but still it's beautiful.

It surprises me that...

... this is still here.

There's a book on the bed.

STUD-BOOK

O, this is... FFFF...

French..

[Oemmie] : Here's a bell too.

[Takiany] : Yes, every room had one...

[Oemmie] : I also think that this was

a rest house, or hospital...

Otherwise there aren't so many rooms.

And bells like this.

[Takiany] : Yes, probably it was..

It, must be...

[Oemmie] : There are newspapers over here.

[Takiany] : This is a very old newspaper

Draverssport ENGLISH : 'Equestrian sports'

It's a paper from the year...

...1973

So, it's abandoned for a long time..

We're on the attic now, here you can see an old lantern.

It's full of spiderwebs,

and dust.

There's something else over there.

You could rotate this

[Julie] : I think they used this for grain.

[Takiany] : Yes, it was...

I suppose that they used this to mill something.

[Julie] : I think there was something up there.

[Takiany] : Up there?

[Julie] : Yes.

[Takiany] : I'm not sure...

Probably you could climb up there

to throw something in that machine.

But, I'll take a look.

OK, so you could climb up this.

and probably they thrown things in here.

I think, after that it became likely milled.

According to the mechanism that I can see here.

I think so.

And over here..

it came out....

or , no , wait...

.. No, here it came out the machine.

[Oemmie] : We still need to visit the basement.

Let's explore the basement.

The basement.

Do you want?

[Oemmie] : Uhm Yes,

[Julie] : Yes!

[Oemmie] : Noo....

[Takiany] : OK, let's go

Some flowers

Actually this looks like a bunker.

Some old pots and beer,...

Probably this was a storage.

Where they kept a lot of things.

[Julie] : it's flooded...

[Takiany] : Yes, it's flooded indeed

You can't go in there.

OK, the basement isn't creepy at all.

But there are some other buildings on this domain

Let's also explore them

Maybe we'll find something cool over there.

So, we're standing in on of the outbuildings.

It looks like a workspace.

An old drilling machine.

a grinding mill.

Those is for horses

People used this earlier when there was still war..

..to drink.

The only thing that we don't see here are the people....

... but we do find all their stuff.

It's all left here, and it looks like it was yesterday.

I think it's interesting.

Let's close...

... their door!

We're still looking after the cave's entrance.

Still searching...

OK, we've just found an entrance.

[Oemmie] : It's in here!

[Takiany] : So, this is our way in!

it's wise to stay together!

How long are we inside the cave already ?!

[Oemmie] : Wait a minute.

I think about a half hour.

A half hour..

[Oemmie] : Maybe 45 minutes.

I'm looking for people who wants to help me creating better subtitles ! Please contact me takiany (ath) hotmail.com

Or send me a message on instagram : @Takiany

Thank you so much for all the international support!

I love you ;-) Much love from Takiany ^^

Regreening the planet - (VPRO documentary - 2012) - Duration: 48:12.

I've looked for a universal language everyone understands:

Investors and entrepreneurs, farmers and landowners...

...local communities and ecological experts.

Restoration is not a hobby, it's a new industry we have to establish.

I don't need this forest. I planted it for the people.

I didn't do it for the money.

They want us to plant trees, even on the good land.

Even there.

When I met John in 2009, I really was touched.

That was exactly the missing link I needed.

The Löss plateau, but especially the before and after footage...

...told the full story.

I'd been working on this for years but this link really hit home.

Restoration is not a hobby, it's a new industry we have to establish.

Not to maximize profits per hectare...

...but to maximize four returns per hectare.

The four returns are:

Return of inspirational capital: people, passion.

Return of social capital: job creation.

Return of natural capital: creating biodiversity...

...restoring biodiversity and nature.

And they lead to return on investment, financial capital.

It can be agriculture, carbon sinks...

...or tourism, hunting or whatever.

It could be real estate, all depending on the local situation.

But these basic principles of the four returns apply to anything.

To any project, wherever you are.

Fertilize.

Happiness.

SEKEM's vision is in fact the four returns vision.

Everyone is inspired by different things, return of inspiration...

...but by using this model...

...another SEKEM could get capital and grow elsewhere...

...with different people.

Because that's what we want: growth.

One SEKEM is not enough, we need hundreds.

I've looked for a universal language everyone understands.

Investors and entrepreneurs, farmers and landowners...

...local communities and ecological experts.

What have you got here? Little trees? - These are pistachios.

Pistachios?

We use a system here where they are kept in a water box.

I know the system. - This way we control the watering.

And this one? How long has it been here? How many months?

This was planted in November.

25 hectares. How did this originate?

There's degraded soil everywhere in Europe, mainly in the South...

...where there's an unfavourable balance of rain and evaporation.

You see a lot of wasteland there...

...and especially in Spain, Greece and the North African countries...

...you see the huge effect of erosion every year...

...where with every downpour tonnes of fertile soil are washed away.

Erosion, in combination with devegetation...

...is one of the biggest problems facing us.

The fertility of the soil disappears...

...so making use of the soil is impossible.

The combination of biodiversity and agriculture is something we really need.

Especially in countries...

...with an unfavourable balance of evaporation and precipitation.

I mean the South of Europe, Spain.

Spain has 10 million hectares of degraded soil.

And what's more, the countryside has been depopulating for decades.

This is a devastating combination if you want to develop a country.

You can't build an economy on cities and tourism alone.

You have to consider the land and its fertility.

Some 240 people live in Ayoo.

And the total population of the community is some 350 people.

And in the old days?

More, much more.

Ayoo had about 700 to 1000 inhabitants.

But now the young people move away.

Because they...

There are few opportunities here.

They can't live off the land.

There's hardly any guarantee they'll have a decent income.

It hurts me to see the village like this.

We used to have a lot of arable farming and stockbreeding.

Now you can see how our villages are declining.

It hurts.

It is very hard.

A lot more people are retiring.

They think it's a shame their fields are out of crop.

And no one's farming them.

Every year more fields become useless because they're abandoned.

It worries them a lot too.

They would have preferred their children and grandchildren...

...to profit from the land.

It hurts them to see their land being abandoned.

There's no one to farm the fields anymore.

They've stopped planting.

At the moment there's no crop here...

...that's being grown or produced.

There's nothing left.

And there's no one here who works the fields.

Here you see the results of erosion.

We see a hill.

The hillsides are overgrown...

...but at the edges you can see the vegetation disappear.

By fires or other causes.

Then the water washes away the soil...

...and as a result nothing can grow there anymore.

No grass, no shrubs.

Not a single plant can grow here anymore.

This is what's happening with arable land on a large scale...

...when nothing is grown on the hillsides which are then exposed to the rains.

That's why it's important to farm the land all the time.

This is a degraded area.

2000 years ago this was an oak forest with a brook that fed it constantly.

The soil was much richer in humus and carbon than today.

It offered useful services for the people downstream.

In the course of history the soil has become degraded.

Here and in many other parts of the world.

In the Netherlands too, as in other Western countries.

In places where there's more evaporation than precipitation...

...this has led to an increased pace of erosion.

We must restore the natural systems...

...because they offer us services that we can't do without.

They are the building blocks of our economy...

...and we're removing them on a large scale.

In the old days people always did something for a reason.

Nothing was done without a reason.

But then we came here and changed everything just like that...

...thinking we were very smart...

...with our big tractors and large quantities of chemicals...

...and all sorts of pesticides.

We thought that was the way to solve everything.

That's how it was done. Here and in the rest of the world.

Time has shown us we were wrong.

At first the yields were bigger.

After that more and more money had to be invested.

And now more money has to be put into the ground than comes out of it.

This has resulted in less and less agriculture.

Just look at this whole area.

On these 25 hectares we carry out our project.

But there are thousands of hectares that are not used at all.

Maybe a shepherd herds his cattle there.

But what you also see, and that's much more poignant...

...is that the land is ploughed from time to time...

...to be eligible for EU subsidies.

I arrived here 14 to 15 years ago.

This whole area, up to the shrubs over there...

...was overgrown.

I cut everything down and now I've been ploughing it for some time.

That's all we're doing.

The young people are not interested.

And it costs a lot of money as well.

A tractor like this one is about 70,000 euros.

And with all the other stuff you need you have to dish out loads of cash.

You really need to invest a lot.

The fields are owned by the villagers.

So, here I have the fields of 50 to 60 owners.

There are no large landowners here.

These fields never yield a lot.

The only way to benefit from a large piece of land is by EU hand-outs.

Because the produce alone is not enough to survive on.

You survive because the EU is handing out money.

In Spain you see a combination of failing water management...

...and several political measures...

...that make it more profitable for farmers to let their land go to waste.

The people we need, the smart ones, the good ones...

...and they are there in Spain, and great institutions...

...have to work together on the land in order to prepare it for the next step.

To make the social and natural returns possible.

For that you need inspirational return.

The inspiration of people who look out from their tunnel...

...and say: We're going to do things differently.

After the erosion the people moved away.

Before, there were no trees here.

This village didn't exist nor did the forest.

They evolved gradually.

There was only sand. No forest, no trees. Nothing at all.

I started in 1979...

...when the Brahmaputra overflowed.

In the summer months of June and July it was so hot...

...that the snakes in the sand all died.

I was afraid that the people, like the snakes, would perish in the heat.

When my beloved snakes died I asked the elders:

All the snakes have died. What can we do? How can we save them?

They said: Go and plant trees.

'What kind of trees?' Bamboo, they said.

But apart from the bamboo I planted other trees, a complete forest.

I wanted to make the land greener so I planted more trees.

Nature gave me a hand.

Seeds fell into the Brahmaputra river.

When it overflows, it spreads the seeds.

So it helps me too.

And the God of the winds helps me. When the kapok tree bears kapok...

...it will fly away and spread. So there'll be new kapok trees.

People only know how to cut down trees.

After having done this for years, I saw the tiger.

The rhino came, the birds came...

...the snakes and the peacocks.

They all gave me knowledge and helped me.

The villagers have cattle and are making money that way.

And for some people the plum trees...

...yield 40,000 to 50,000 rupees in three months.

So it's very profitable.

And the cotton of the Shimul trees is worth some 150 rupees per kilo.

This way the people earn money from what the forest gives them.

If the forest wasn't here, it would not have been possible.

Everyone is dependent on this forest.

I don't need the forest myself. I created it for the people.

I didn't do it for the money.

It's not what the land does for me but what I can do for the land.

That's why I planted this forest.

Over there were sandbanks.

Since a few months those new trees have been growing there.

There aren't many, but when the trees grow tall, they'll make a forest.

My dream is for Assam and India to become green.

I don't have my own future in mind...

...but when the land has become green, that's my future.

During the time I've got left, I want to make it greener.

But I can't do it alone.

If we can teach the young generation, they'll be able to take over.

In one year many, many children in India were admitted...

...to primary schools.

They must learn that trees need to grow undisturbed for five years.

Only then they'll pass their exams.

In the coming five years they'll need to plant two trees...

...and give the oxygen they produce to the world.

That's what all the world should do.

Then no one wants to cut down trees anymore.

They won't allow people to kill animals and they won't let the birds die.

This will make the whole world greener.

It must be done now, it's the only way.

Globally, 2 billion hectares of soil are degraded...

...and we haven't even mentioned marine systems.

We mainly see this in places where precipitation is low.

The corn belt in the USA, several places in Central and South America...

...areas here, where there are huge areas of monocultures.

All of the Middle East and the Mediterranean area...

...and continuing into Central Asia and India...

...with the Brahmaputra and the Himalayas.

Australia, that has to deal with invasive animal species.

And several places in Africa.

So it's a big problem, as is the opportunity to tackle it...

...and the opportunity for businesses to invest.

Money from governments and charities is absolutely inadequate.

So it's a great challenge for a new economy.

We planted the fields after we had spread our compost.

Every year we grew different crops...

...and after five years we had succeeded in turning the desert soil...

...into a green farm with organic agriculture.

The soil changed from sand into fertile soil...

...with more and more organic matter, season after season, year after year.

Then it's time to change our crops.

In the first year we select specific plants.

The year after we take different kinds and we do the same the third year.

This lemon grass you see was impossible to grow in the first year.

But now the soil is ready...

...because it holds more organic matter.

We now plant crops with bigger yields.

Our farm is important for the village of Harra which is close-by.

When we first came here, there was a lot of unemployment.

We created new jobs for the people.

Most of our work force comes from the village.

They have a better income now.

So, reclaiming desert soil...

...is definitely a good way to make the soil fertile.

It's the only way. It's better than importing food from abroad.

We have a great area of desert in Egypt.

In the western desert there's a lot of water underground.

It'll improve the social situation and employment...

...and thus will solve not only our fertility problem...

...but it'll provide jobs for the young who can't find work elsewhere.

Back up this way.

The roots are deeply embedded.

And as you see, there are fungi too.

The roots and the fungi have formed a mycorrhiza.

It means that in this piece of land down to this depth...

...the roots and the fungi will act as one ecosystem.

If this project develops any further...

...and becomes a success...

...also because we have more of this type of soil...

...we might get bigger yields.

What to do? Take action, I think.

Stop what you were doing, change the way you work...

...and take matters into your own hands so it all restores quickly.

We must have a restoration economy and Pedro, SEKEM and Yadav...

...have been doing this, and for quite some time.

And they have a clear picture of it.

They have experience in the field.

And we can put their experience in a larger framework...

...and build the industry together.

And the trick is to establish it on a political and national level...

...so that Spain can be a model of what I call a restoration industry.

In my view that's what the four returns are all about:

To move from a degradation industry to a restoration industry.

I think everything and everyone are part of the whole system.

In nature all things belong together.

If all the little insects in the soil and in the grass survive...

...then everything survives.

If they die, everyone dies...

...and so does nature. That's why we have to do this.

The earth doesn't belong to us.

We're allowed to live here for a while.

We don't have the right to burden the next generations...

...with deserts.

Foamiran Bloemen / Flowers - Duration: 24:21.

My name is Cindy and today I'd like to show you a Dutch video

Something I haven't done before

I will add some English notes so people who don't

speak Dutch can understand the video as well

The reason it's in Dutch is that I want to show you a

product that crafters aren't already using in Holland

But it's something that I think is great

It's called Foamiran, this is a thin crafting foam

It's available in all kinds of colors

I ordered several different colors but I use only white and nude

You can make flowers using this foam

Really beautiful, realistic flowers

What I like about this is the fact that I can color them myself

This is an example of a card I've made using my own flowers

This is a Lili of the Valley image in case you'd wonder

These are the flowers, two different types

I'm recording this up side down so I need to find out out how I can show things

And today I'd like to show you how these flowers are made

You need several products, foam of course

What you also need are metal dies, you can

also use a cutting machine like a Silhouette

I also use baby wipes

Kitchen towel

And something to color your flowers with

I'll be using oil pastels, I also use soft pastel

That also looks great

And I found out that water-based mediums don't work that great

I think it's not that great

Pigment-based ink, also works great

I think it's just what you like best

And you need a flat iron and that's it

I'm going to show you

I did some work before, you can use several tools to make the flowers

You can also use printable templates from the internet that you can cut

A lot of you will own a Big shot or other die cut machine

You can use your metal dies to cut the foam, it's

really thin, so you can easily cut 4 layers at a time

You need to be careful cutting the foam, cause it's thin so it does tear quite fast

This doesn't happen right away but you do need to be careful

I'm a big Silhouette fan and use it all the time when crafting

So I wanted to try cutting the foam with my Silhouette

So here it is, I've cut several different designs

This way I can experiment with different types of flowers

Up till now I only did the same shape so I wanted to find

out what happens when you use different types of petals

So first I need to lift them of the mat, I don't know if I'm going to use all of them

So I pulled of all the flowers

I did had quite a lot, so I picked out two different types

A rose petal

And these Poinsettia type of petals

I think they both will give a different effect

To color them I use a black sheet of paper

And I use oil pastels

And I use baby wipes to color the petals

It's a bit dense, but that's not a problem

I thought I could make a purple, pink flower

You can decide yourself if you want to make a realistic flower or a crazy colored one

I'd like to use two colors, and I sometimes color the

whole flower, and other times I only color a part

So I wrap the baby wipe around my finger and add some color to it

This is a quick version, so if you're in bit of a hurry, this is a great method

The great thing about this foam is the fact that you

can create all kinds of different types and sizes

If you're a cardmaker you'd probably make quite a lot of small flowers

But I've also seen photos of crafters that make these big flower bouquets

So you can make your own flower art with the foam

As you can see I color both sides of the flower

I'm adding a different color to the center of the upper flower

I like to play a bit with different color combos

So I colored all the petals

I turned my iron on to medium

I'm using a medium / wool setting

I'm going to heat the foam to make it a bit more thin

This way I can roll into shape

I'm heating the flower using the iron

a couple of seconds so it warms up

It will fall of by itself

Then I fold it

All the petals

Then you roll it

And once I've rolled it, I'm going to twist and squeeze it

You need to be careful here, 'cause it easily tears now

You can roll it a bit between your fingers

So you need to put in some strength but not to much of course

And when you're done shaping it you can set it a side

So I've finished shaping the flowers

These are flower stamen, kinds of frozen berries

These are different type of stamen

I'm now going to carefully unfold the flower

Make sure you don't rub it to much

Only pull it a bit straight in the center

It needs to be a bit more round

So I unfolded all the petals

I tear the upper flower in two pieces

So you start with the first flower

I'm using a sponge, but you also use an embossing mat

I do like the sponge better

I'm using the heat-gun

Then I use a small brush

Next

Then for the last one

I cut off a small piece of it, so it's a bit shorter

And now you're going to make a small bud out of the last three

I tend to burn my fingers every time I use my heat-gun

And you've created a small bud

I'm gluing the two petals in the middle

To finish it I'm adding the small bud

You need to push quite firmly

And this is the first flower

Last part of this flower

We're going to make a little hole in the center

I'm using a small needle pen

Then I use a very thin embossing tool

I set it a side like this

For this flower I'm using simple stamen

Then I grab a small piece of wire

If you every use Mulberry paper flowers

and cut of the stem

And the stem you can use for these flowers, it's the perfect wire

You only need to pull of the green paper

I take the wire and fold it around the stamen

Put the wire trough the hole

You only need to put in some strength now to pull all the stamen trough

And now we only have to finish one more flower

I didn't use this shape before, so I'm kind of curious how it turns out

So to finish it I'm going to add some stamen to this flower to

I'll be using these fun, sparkling frozen berries

We've arrived at the end of this video

These are the flowers that I made just now

This blue one is going to be great on a winter themed card

This is the same kind of flower

You could add a flower center or use some more glitter or bling

I hope you've learned a bit more about Foamiran with this video

Please subscribe to my channel if you like this video

Feel free to ask any questions

It's not that easy to find here in Holland, but with Google

you could find some online shops where you can order it

Thank you for watching and have a great day

Billboards Call Out Politicians Who Betrayed Us - Duration: 4:59.

Nightcore - Gasoline - Duration: 2:26.

Are you insane like me?

Been in pain like me?

Bought a hundred dollar bottle of champagne like me?

Just to pour that motherfucker down the drain like me?

Would you use your water bill to dry the stain like me?

Are you high enough without the Mary Jane like me?

Do you tear yourself apart to entertain like me?

Do the people whisper about you on the train like me?

Saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me?

And all the people say,

"You can't wake up, this is not a dream!

You're part of a machine, you are not a human being.

With your face all made up, living on a screen.

Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline!"

I think there's a flaw in my code...

These voices won't leave me alone...

Well my heart is gold and my hands are cold...

Are you deranged like me?

Are you strange like me?

Lighting matches just to swallow up the flame like me?

Do you call yourself a fucking hurricane like me?

Pointing fingers 'cause you'll never take the blame like me?

And all the people say,

"You can't wake up, this is not a dream.

You're part of a machine, you're not a human being.

With your face all made up, living on a screen.

Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline!"

I think there's a flaw in my code...

English for Spanish Speakers 30 - difference between 'recently' and 'ultimately'? (with subtitles) - Duration: 3:04.

Hello once again everyone and welcome back to 'One English Tip in One Minute for

Spanish Speakers' where every week I go through, in some detail, one common

English mistake made by those who speak Spanish as a mother tongue...and this is

the 30th video, so video number 30.

You're probably sick of hearing it -- but, you know what? I don't care ... I do care...

but it's good to hear it, I think...and it's good to say it. I appreciate the fact

that you are trying to improve your English. In these videos I show you a

slide and on the slide there are two sentences: One is the correct way we say it in

English, the other is the wrong way that many Spanish speakers might say it.

You have to decide which one is correct. Please do that now. Read the sentences,

listen to me read the sentences, pause the video, think about your answer and we

will discuss the answer in the slide that follows this next slide.

Did you get it right? If not, you're in very good company. Many people get this

wrong. Or if you just happened to take a wild guess and get it right, it's the

same thing: You need to study this a little bit more. To help you on that

studying path, I've given you some sentences to study from. Please study

them in their entirety,

please review them constantly and please put them into practice through speaking

or writing or both. Please go outside this video and use the crazy number of

resources that are out there in the world to help you get past this.

Just a few things before we finish. First, if you liked the video I hope

you'll click on the thumbs up below. Second, I hope you will consider

subscribing to my channel. I think it's a good idea as these videos come out like

clockwork every week. Hopefully you will do that.

Third, I have an online course called '50 Common English Mistakes' and it costs

twenty euros, but if you follow the link in the description box below, it costs 10

euro...so I hope you'll think about that. Next,

I am building up my website so I hope you will pay that a visit. Also, I

have a Twitter feed.

My Twitter handle is @epicenglishtips so please follow me there.

Finally, if there's anything that you want me to work on, if there's any

English mistakes that you need help with,

please write in the comments below and I will try my best to address it. Thank you

for watching, and see you next week.
