- A Dutchman who is living in the Hague
meets Ukrainian, who is living in Ukraine.
Dutch says to Ukrainian:
"We have a real democracy.
I can come to the main square in the Hague
and to yell "Rutte [Dutch PM] must go,
Rutte betrayed us,
Rutte isn't our guy! He should leave!"
And Ukrainian from Odessa answers:
"We got a real democracy too!
I can come any time to Kulikovo Field in Odessa,
or even to Deribasovskaya Street
and yell "Rutte must go!".
- Sergey, are you originally from Odessa?
- Yes, I'm from Odessa.
However, since 2014
I'm living mostly in Spain.
In Getafe, it's close to Madrid.
In Odessa, for already 3 years in a row,
people come to Kulikovo Field every 2nd day of each month
in order to keep memory alive of what has happened.
Here, in Europe
we hold this kind of events annually,
since 2015.
Then 2016 and 2017.
We are preparing big event in Spain, Barcelona.
And my friends from here,
Nikita Ananiev and Alena,
I have lots of friends in Holland,
they hold this event not on May 2nd, but two days earlier.
So, they invited me to come over
as was an eyewitness and participant of Odessa tragedy.
Firstly, to support Dutch participating in this event
and secondly, to tell the truth about what took place in Odessa.
Truth from an eye-witness.
Here are lots of cafe's with tourists on the terraces.
They really like this place.
We walked by all these terraces,
holding our banners
with photos and information about people killed in Odessa.
People had questions,
we were explaining them what has really happened.
Cause, speaking of my experience,
in many countries
people don't know about Odessa tragedy.
They know nothing at all!
- Three years ago you were a participant and eye-witness of all these events.
Have you been in the Trade Unions House too?
- I have been there from the very beginning:
first on Deribasovskaya Street, then on Grecheskaya Street.
Lots of things were happening and I was running around.
Since I could walk freely everywhere,
I was taking photos from both sides, so to say.
Just imagine: something is happening over here
and streets are opened.
Just turn around and you are on the other side,
turn again - and you are on another.
That's why from 700 photos I took,
there are pictures from both sides.
And when Banderovits headed to the Trade Unions House,
I took some pictures and ran to Kulikovo Field.
I wanted to warn the guys,
ask them to stay away from trouble.
Why is that?
Cause, usually, on May 1st and 2nd
everywhere on the territory of former USSR,
people use to go out of the town.
Therefore...
Any other weekend, up to 30,000 people were coming to Kulikovo Field.
We were counting, so these are exact numbers.
30,000 people.
But on that day there were just around 400 people on Kulikovo Field.
Those who didn't leave the city.
And these were no militants,
grandmothers and grandfathers, teenagers.
There was a TV installed on Kulikovo Field,
with "forbidden" Russian channels,
old people were coming there just to watch Russian TV.
That's why they were there.
When I came there,
some sort of barricade was already built near the Trade Unions House
and a man I never met before
was urging people to go inside the building.
Around 300 out of 400 people went inside
and 100 people took off their St George ribbons
and mixed with the crowd on the square.
I took my St George ribbon off too
and realized something:
if I will go inside TU House with all the photos I took,
in order to leave TU House, I will have to go through policemen.
And if I'd get caught by police,
they would take my memory card with all the pictures.
That's why I decided not to go inside,
but to take photos outside, on the square.
That's why I got photos of everything that was happening outside.
I saw people jumping out of the windows from the 3rd floor.
I saw one of the Banderovits, Odessa resident, by the way,
is running to the burnt man who jumped down from the 3rd floor
finishing him off, by smashing his head with a bate
and yelling: "I killed him!"
I saw window opening...
and on the 3rd floor...
And it was BEFORE any of Banderovits entered the building.
And out of sudden, window on the 3rd floor is opening
and in the room where the strangled cleaning lady was found later,
we were thinking first she was pregnant,
it's a famous photo,
this very window was opening
and someone was waiving Ukrainian flag from there.
And the crowd on the square was yelling "Heil Ukraine, heil heroes".
And the scream of this woman,
while she was being strangled,
this horrible scream...
Even now when I'm thinking about it, I...
When she stopped screaming...
the crowd on the square, all these jerks,
were chanting: "the bitch is killed".
My friends have died there...
My good friend,
a poet.
- Do you mean Negaturov?
- Yes.
I... with his brother...
I was the best man on Sasha Negaturov's wedding.
We meet often.
So...what can I say?
I can tell you one thing:
these are tragic and painful memories.
Watching people being killed,
it's scary...
Really.
All the time I...
it's painful to talk about it.
And the most painful part is
that these murderers are still walking around unpunished!
I can tell you one more thing.
When we were searching the building,
the following occurred:
we went up to the attic,
doors were opened.
Attic is pretty big, since it's a large building.
We walked around.
First of all, we saw there 100 liter can with gasoline.
Who brought it there?? Nobody knows.
We found there a machete case.
It is a known fact,
that there was a priest constantly present on Kulikovo Field.
He was found with his hands chopped off...
Funerals were with a closed coffin,
to hide his cut off hands...
And we turned around the corner,
we saw a "toilet", so to say.
With fresh human shit on the floor.
We did the count: 28 piles of shit.
It means 3 days and around 9 people.
So, on April 30th when TU House was open
and anybody could go in,
with anything they want,
some guys got inside, I think.
They went up to the attic
and were hiding there.
And here is a question:
why shitting on the floor, while there are nice bathrooms on the 4th floor?
It means, that these people were hiding.
And why there is no toilet paper next to these piles of shit?
Not a single cigarette, nothing.
The reason is
that people were told to clean after themselves,
but didn't come to their mind to remove the shit too.
So, they set themselves up.
So, my opinion is
that on April 30th a team came there.
9 or 10 persons.
They were hiding in the attic and waiting for May 2nd.
One of them urged people to go inside the building,
like sheep to the slaughter house.
Why? Cause, like I told you earlier,
before Banderovitz stormed into the building
flag already appeared
and that cleaning lady was being killed.
Here is my idea of how it happened.
Cleaning lady was supposed to come to work on May 5th.
Why did she come on May 2nd?
Cause she was planning to go away for the weekend.
That's why she came earlier.
Nobody was expecting her there.
You know how the cleaning ladies are... tough like generals.
Imagine, this woman is cleaning the floor
and suddenly from upstairs
strange guys are coming down to the 3rd floor!
With night vision goggles,
bates, some weapons.
She probably yelled at them
and they grabbed her, brought to that room and...
strangled with the phone cable.
And afterwards...
Oleg [Muzuka] was telling me the same thing.
He was wondering too where did gas come from?
I saw these windows.
Glass is one finger thick!
Real thick! And there is double glazing with huge space in between.
Thus, if you throw a bottle or a stone to the 2nd floor,
it's impossible to break the glass.
Single glass maybe, but not double glazing!
Means, someone from inside was doing that.
And considering the fact
that those were not some regular Molotov cocktails...
Molotov cocktail is something else.
They were making napalm.
What is the difference between these two?
Napalm is a kind of burning glue.
They were putting pieces of plastic into the bottle
adding gasoline.
And throwing them, after lighting them up.
When bottle was smashed against the wall,
glue was sticking to the wall and it was burning.
There was one guy... Ivan Muzuka.
He is handicapped now.
He was telling that he was hanging [on the window],
cause room was on fire,
and they were throwing bottles and it was sticking to the wall,
they couldn't hit him directly, but he was burnt by fire.
After that he jumped out of the window, from the 3rd floor.
People who died inside were burnt by napalm too.
People were murdered.
Position of the bodies on the floor...
It's a given, that these guys came there to kill.
Nobody was expecting it.
It was a weekend.
Thick doors from oak.
Oleg still wonders how he managed then to kick this door out
in order to enter the room.
They were trying to barricade the door from inside later.
There were four of them.
Interestingly enough,
as soon as the fire started, the power went off.
When they rushed to the bathrooms,
the water was turned off.
At the time the fire began.
Even in the fire hose...
You know, the fire hoses, the long ones.
All hoses were torn.
People wanted to use them to go down,
but they were cut.
And there was no water in fire hydrant!
A municipal building with no water??
About the power:
lights were turned off immediately after the fire and panic began.
On purpose, to make things worse!
Dark hallways with no windows,
smoke...
These guys, apparently, were wearing night vision goggles
and murdering people one by one.
I think, they were planning to kill everyone, leave no witnesses.
But people, out of fear,
kicked down the oak doors and hide inside the offices.
These guys were knocking on these doors and demanding to open
and they could kick doors down indeed.
That's why fire fighters weren't coming,
even though the fire station is on 15 min walking distance
from the Kulikovo Field.
They weren't coming in order to give the murderers time to kill!
- Do you think that one day justice will be served
and those who committed this crime will be punished?
- Well, you see...
every fascist will get his personal Nuremberg trial!
It may be called Odessa trial
or Hague trial, whatever.
But the time will come
when the current regime will fall
and new people will come to the government,
ones who will not support these Nazi jerks,
justice will be served then.
Justice will be served, I really hope so!
And like in Georgian saying:
there will be a hook to hang every lamb's leg!
