WORLD AND NOW HE'S RETURNING AS STAR LORD IN GUARDIANS OF THE

GALAXY VOLUME 2.

>> YOU KNOW WHY, STAR MUNCH, I DID IT BECAUSE I WANTED TO.

WHAT ARE WE EVEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR?

WE JUST HAD A LITTLE MAN SAVE US BY BLOWING UP 50 SHIPS.

>> HOW LITTLE?

>> LIKE THIS.

>> A LITTLE 1 INCH MAN.

>> WELL, IF HE GOT CLOSER I'M SURE HE WOULD BE MUCH LARGER.

>> THAT IS HOW EYESIGHT WORKS YOU STUPID RACCOON.

>> DON'T CALL ME A RACCOON.

>> I'M SORRY, I TOOK IT TOO FAR.

I MEANT TRASH PANDA.

>> IS THAT BETTER?

>> IT'S WORSE, IT'S SO MUCH WORSE.

>> Stephen: PLEASE WELCOME CHRIS PRATT.

(APPLAUSE) .

>> Stephen: THANK YOU.

>> A, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE AND THANK YOU FOR THE HUG.

I WASN'T SURE IF WE WERE GOING TO GO FOR THE HUG, I WENT FOR

THE HANDSHAKE, YOU WENT FOR THE HUG.

I DON'T WANT YOU TO THINK THAT I DON'T WANT TO HUG YOU.

>> YOU DON'T-- .

>> Stephen: I DO, CUZ I FEEL LIKE, THE STRANGE THING ABOUT

CHRIS PRATT RIGHT BEFORE HE CAME OUT HERE.

THIS WILL BE FUN, I KNOW CHRIS, CHRIS AND I ARE FRIENDS, NO, I

MET YOU LIKE THREE TIMES.

>> OVER THE COURSE OF MANY YEARS THOUGH.

>> Stephen: BUT I FEEL LIKE I'M YOUR FRIEND, AND I THINK

THAT IS YOUR MAGIC AS A PERFORMER, AS ANDY OR A STAR

LORD, I KNOW THAT DUDE, I HUNG OUT WITH THAT DUDE.

>> THANK YOU, I WILL TAKE THAT AS A COMPLIMENT.

>> Stephen: IT IS A COMPLIMENT, LIKE ARE YOU

TOTALLY.

>> AND I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT YOU.

AND YOU ARE RIGHT, WE HAVEN'T SPENT TIME AT EACH OTHER'S

HOMES.

I DON'T HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER OR ANYTHING.

MAYBE THAT COULD CHANGE.

>> Stephen: YOU WANT THAT.

>> I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD GET STEPHEN'S NUMBER.

(APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: SUPER EASY, SUPER EASY TO MEMORIZE.

>> DO I SHOW THE CAMERA?

>> Stephen: WHAT?

>> DON'T HOLD THAT UP.

ONE AT A TIME.

>> Stephen: BUT WE DID, WE DID A-- BEFORE WE DID THE STRANGERS

OF CANDY MOVIE BACK IN 9 DAY.

I REMEMBER THERE IS THIS YOUNG KID WITH ALL THIS ENERGY AND YOU

CAME BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF SHOOTING, YOU WENT OUT TO

CALIFORNIA AND YOU CAME BACK, I MIGHT BE SUPERMAN, IT WAS

A-- THAT SUPERMAN, THAT ERA.

AND I THOUGHT I COULD TOTALLY SEE THAT GUY AS A SUPERHERO.

>> CASTING DIRECT DISER NOT AGREE.

>> Stephen: BUT THEY WERE WRONG, BUT NOW ARE YOU, THE

ULTIMATE SUPERMAN.

STAR LORD, YOU KNOW.

>> IT JUST GOES TO SHOW, YOU KNOW, IT'S ALL DIVINELY PLANNED.

SO IF IT'S NOT WORKING OUT IN THE MOMENT, JUST HAVE FAITH THAT

IT IT CAN, IT MIGHT WORK OUT IN THE FUTURE AND THE NOS THAT YOU

GET TODAY MIGHT MEAN AN EVEN MORE POWERFUL YES IN THE FUTURE,

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

>> Stephen: I DO.

I DO.

I THINK, IF I'M-- IF I'M HEARING YOU CORRECTLY, YOU ARE SAYING

THAT GOD WANTED THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY TO BE MADE.

LET'S JUST LEAVE IT THERE.

>> YEAH, I'M WITH IT.

HE IS A BIG FAN.

>> Stephen: YEAH, WELL, EVERYBODY.

THIS IS A HUGE MOVIE.

AND NOT JUST LIKE UNITED STATES HUGE, THIS IS LIKE CHINA HUGE

AND LIKE BRAZIL HUGE.

>> YEAH.

>> Stephen: AND JAPAN, EVERYWHERE WE OWE MONEY, HUGE.

SO WHAT IS IT LIKE FOR YOU TO GO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?

DOES EVERYBODY KNOW YOU NOW AS STAR LORD?

>> WELL, YOU KNOW, I'M NOT SURE I HAVE THE BEST GAUGE BECAUSE

WHEN I GO TO PLACES, IT'S NOT AS IF I'M GOING TO TRAVEL.

I'M REALLY GOING TO PROMOTE A MOVIE.

I LIKE TO SAY I'M NOT NECESSARILY TRAVELING SOME WHERE

IT'S MORE I'M SHIPPED SOMEWHERE, YOU KNOW.

AND WHEN I ARRIVE, THE CITY WE'RE ARRIVING KNOWS WE'RE COME

SOG THERE WILL BE PEOPLE AT THE AIRPORT DRESSED UP, LIKE THE

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

I THINK I HAVE A SKEWED PERFECT-- PERSPECTIVE.

IF I JUST WENT SOMEWHERE ON MY OWN WHICH I REALLY HAVEN'T BEEN

ABLE TO DO IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SO

BUSY.

I DON'T THINK IT IT WOULD BE SO HEIGHTENED.

BUT I GET THEY ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

>> Stephen: IT IS THE UNBOXING.

>> SHOW UP, AMAZON PRIME ON TIME, TWO DAYS.

GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

>> Stephen: WELL, SO IT IT IS YOU WILL KAD GUARDIANS OF THE

GAL OOKSY VOLUME 2.

>> VOLUME 2.

>> Stephen: IT IT CALMED THE SAME THING EVERYWHERE YOU GO OR

IS IT LIKE STAR CLUSTER CARETAKERS OR BRADLEY COOPER'S

HIDDEN KA RON FACE-- RACCOON FACE WHAT IS IT CALLED?

>> WE DO HAVE-- THERE'S ONE CALLED THE-- I BELIEVE IT'S IN

MANDARIN, IT'S CALLED LIKE THE SILVER RIVER PROTECTION TEAM,

SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

>> Stephen: I WOULD WATCH THAT.

>> I WOULD WATCH THAT.

>> Stephen: SILVER RIVER-- BECAUSE THEY CALL THE

MILKY WAY THE SIFERL RIVER.

>> THAT MUST BE-- IS THAT WHY?

>> Stephen: I JUST MADE THAT UP.

>> IT IT MAKES SENSE.

>> Stephen: I'LL ASK NEIL.

>> NEIL WILL KNOW.

>> Stephen: WILL TOTALLY KNOW.

OR HE WILL MAKE IT IT UP.

>> AND IN ANOTHER TERRITORY WE WERE YOU WILL CAD THE UNUSUAL

INTERGALACTIC FIGHTING FORCE.

SOMEWHERE ELSE, I DON'T KNOW, BUT ESSENTIALLY IT'S THE SAME

THING.

>> Stephen: HOW OLD IS YOUR SON.

>> FOUR AND A HALF.

>> Stephen: WHAT IS HIS NAME.

>> JACK.

>> Stephen: IS HE IMPRESSED THAT DAD IS STAR LORD?

CUZ YOU HAVE ACTION FIGURES AND YOU HAVE THE BIG SUMMER

BLOCKBUSTER.

>> NOT AT ALL.

>> Stephen: DOES HE KNOW, YOU HAVE TAKEN.

>> HE KNOWS.

HE DOESN'T CARE.

IT'S WEIRD, OH, MAN, I WANT TO BE THE COOL DAD.

BUT HE JUST IS-- HE I DON'T KNOW IF HE IS ALOOF OR WHAT, I WILL

SAY HEYS MAN-- .

>> Jon: WELL, FOUR AND A HALF YEAR OLD, I'M SUPERALOOF.

>> I SAY LIKE WHAT DO YOU THINK, BUDDY?

DO YOU LIKE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

>> YEAH, DAD.

>> WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO?

>> SPIDERMAN.

>> HUH.

YEAH, RIGHT, OF COURSE, EVERYONE LOVES SPIDERMAN BUT IF WERE YOU

TO SAY IRON.

>> IRONMAN.

HMMMM, OF COURSE.

LET'S SAY NONAVENGERS.

>> D.C.?

>> SAY STAR LORD.

>> YOU'RE NOT A SUPERHERO.

>> Stephen: THAT'S GOOD, BECAUSE YOU WANT HIM TO THIFER

YOU AS YOUR DAD NOT AS A GUY ON THE SCREEN.

>> I GUESS SO, I GUESS SO, IT IT SHOULD FEEL GOOD BUT IT IT

HURTS.

IT HURTS.

>> Stephen: WELL, YOU'RE HONEST.

YOU'RE HONEST.

>> NO.

>> Stephen: YOUR SON IS SAYING I LIKE THAT CHRIS PRATT, IT'S

LIKE HE'S MY FRIEND.

>> HE IS LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT, I ALMOST FEEL LIKE I KNOW YOU.

>> Stephen: SO YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY,ANA FERRIS YOUR

LOVELY WIFE AND YOUR SON JACK.

YOU GOT A STAR ON THE 408EEWOOD WALK OF FAME, CONGRATULATIONS.

>> THANK YOU.

YEAH.

LOOK AT THAT.

>> Stephen: WHAT DOES THAT FEEL LIKE?

>> IN THAT MOMENT RIGHT THERE, IT FEELS REALLY NICE, BEING ABLE

TO SHARE IT IT, A MOMENT LIKE THAT WITH-- I FEEL LIKE IF NONE

OF MY FAMILY WAS THERE, I WOULDN'T REALLY FEEL ANYTHING.

BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S THE NATURE OF THIS-- THIS KIND OF

TIDAL WAVE THAT HAS HIT MY LIFE IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF OR

SO.

OR LIKE A HURRICANE OR SOMETHING.

YOU JUST HUNKER DOWN AND THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF CALM IN THE

MIDDLE.

AND EVERYTHING IS GOING WILD AROUND YOU.

AND ARE YOU LIKE, IT DOESN'T EVEN FEEL THAT WINDY AND YOU SEE

A SIGN FLY BY, I THINK WE'RE GOING TO BE OKAY.

AND YOU SEE A COW FLY BY, YOU KNOW.

AND IT'S IN THOSE MOMENTS WHERE YOU HAVE YOUR FAMILY, YOUR

FRIENDS, WHERE YOU ACTUALLY STOP FOR A SECOND AND ENJOY THE

MOMENT, BECAUSE THEY'RE HAVING A MOMENT AS WELL, YOU KNOW, WITH

YOU.

YOU SHARE THE MOMENT SO YOU KIND OF BECOME PRESENT IN THE MOMENT

AND THAT'S REALLY NICE.

AND THAT STAR IS TWO BLOCKS FROM AN APARTMENT I LIVED IN, ABOUT

12 YEARS AGO, A REALLY, REALLY PRETTY DUMPY APARTMENT.

AND THAT AREA HAS CHANGED A WHOLE LOT SINCE I MOVED OUT OF

THERE.

IT HAS REALLY BECOME MUCH NICER AND STUFF.

I USED TO WALK RIGHT OVER THAT SIDEWALK.

>> Stephen: WHAT WERE YOU NEAR, ANYBODY GOOD?

>> I'M NEAR KELLY RIPA.

>> Stephen: THAT'S GOOD.

>> THAT'S PRETTY COOL.

SO WHEN PEOPLE COME TO SEE KELLY RIPA THEY WILL WALK RIGHT OVER

ME.

>> Stephen: WE HAVE TO GO IN A MINUTE.

BUT BEFORE WE GO, THE MOVIE HAS GOT AN AMAZING SOUNDTRACK JUST

LIKE THE FIRST TIME, LIKE VOLUME ONE.

MAKING A MIX TAPE FOR SOMEONE IS REALLY INTIMATE.

>> YEAH.

>> Stephen: DO YOU MAKE MIX TAPES FOR YOUR WIFE ANNA?

>> YOU KNOW, I DID ONCE.

I DID ONCE, I DID ONE FOR MY BROTHER FIRST.

AND IT WAS AN '80S MIX, SONGS, CALLED I GUESS HAD TO BE THERE,

MIX, SONGS THAT JUST WORKED.

I KNEW THEY WOULD CREATE THE SAME MEMORIES, CONJURE THE SAME

MEMORIES, IT WOULD BE SENTIMENTAL FOR HIM, I GAVE IT

IT TO HIM.

HE CALLED ME, BRO, I'M CRYING.

AND I'M LIKE I'M THE MIX TAPE GUY.

I AM GOING TO DO ONE FOR ANNA.

AND I MADE ONE FOR HER AND I PLAYED IT AND I WAS THINKING IN

MY HEAD, LIKE, THIS IS GOING TO BE OUR LOVER-MAKING MIX, YOU

KNOW.

AND THE FIRST SONG I PUT WAS-- .

>> Stephen: GOOD TIP.

>> WELL, I THOUGHT-- I DECIDED TO PUT AL GREEN.

>> Stephen: SURE, LET'S STAY TOGETHER.

>> AND YOU KNOW, I THINK IT'S-- YEAH, YEAH, YEAH,

GIRL-- I'M SO IN LOVE WITH YOU.

♪ AND.

I WISH, I WISH SHE REACTED THAT WAY.

SHE WAS KIND OF LOOKING AT ME AND I COULD TELL RIGHT A WHAT,

BIG MISS, BIG MISS.

IT'S A LONG SONG.

AND I WAS LIKE-- WHATEVER YOU.

>> WHO ARE YOU?

YOU DON'T LISTEN AL GREEN, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL.

SHE IS LIKE WE'RE ALREADY MARRIED, IT'S COOL.

I'M GOING TO GIVE IT IT UP. AND THAT WAS THE FIRST SONG AND ONLY

SONG WE GOT THREW AND I THREW IT AWAY.

I WAS SO EMBARRASSED, IT WAS CRUSHING-- .

>> Stephen: WAS THE SONG IT LONG, WERE YOU SAYING.

>> FOR ME IT IT IS THE WRONG HUMPING TEMPO.

>> Stephen: WRONG WHAT?

>> THE WRONG HUMPING TEMPO.

>> Stephen: WHAT DO YOU LIKE, WHAT DO YOU LIKE.

>> I NEED SOME EDM, NO, JUST KIDDING.

>> Stephen: GOOD GALLUP OVER THERE.

THAAD battery in Korea has achieved initial intercept capability: MND - Duration: 0:38.

South Korea's defense ministry has confirmed that the THAAD missile defense system has

achieved initial intercept capability.

This means that the battery that can be used to respond to North Korean ballistic missiles

fired at South Korea.

The ministry had been asked to verify an earlier report from AFP news agency citing unnamed

U.S. military officials,... which had said that the system could "intercept North Korean

missiles and defend" South Korea.

However, it's expected to take several more months for the battery to become fully operational.

Key components of the battery arrived in Seongju County last week but more are expected later.

South Korea's acting president calls on public to actively participate in presidential election - Duration: 0:51.

South Korea's Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn is calling on the public to actively participate

in the upcoming presidential election.

Here's part of what he said at a Cabinet meeting today:

"This election has great significance, as we're voting on a new president that will

shape our future by helping the country overcome the continued nuclear threats from North Korea

and the expansion of protectionist trade policies."

Hwang urged the related ministries to ensure a fair and transparent election process and

asked them to prepare thoroughly for the two days of early voting on Thursday and Friday.

He also instructed officials to crack down on election fraud and related crimes seen

in past elections.

N. Korea could accelerate SLBM tests: 38 North - Duration: 0:43.

North Korea has apparently acquired a second submersible barge for testing its submarine-launched

ballistic missiles, indicating that the regime is planning to expand or accelerate the program.

U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website 38 North reported on Monday, based on satellite

imagery from April 19th, that the second barge, spotted at the regime's Nampo shipyard on

the west coast, appears nearly identical to the original barge that was first seen in

2014.

The barges are used to conduct underwater tests of submarine missiles and launch systems.

The first barge, on the east coast, has been linked to as many as six SLBM launches since

2014.

Hot again with sunny skies and high UV levels - Duration: 1:42.

The capital saw its highest temperature of the season on Monday getting up to 28.3 degrees

Celsius... and the spring heat will continue today and into tomorrow getting up to 29 degrees.

We'll have to wait till Friday before things cool down as nationwide rain will push down

the highs to seasonal averages.

So today is going to be a hot one getting up to 28 degrees in Seoul while Gwangju and

Daejeon will top out at 27 degrees.

High to very high UV levels will beam down on the nation, and especially those in the

regions with very high UV levels will need to take all precautions because unprotected

skin can burn in minutes.

The air is getting drier each day with a dry weather advisory in place in many parts of

the country, including here in the capital, so drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

That's Korea for you and here's the international weather for viewers around the world.

N. Korea was behind hacking of military intelligence last year : MND - Duration: 0:45.

It appears that a string of cyber attacks against the South Korean military last September

was the work of North Korean hackers.

The Defense Ministry announced the latest results of its investigation on Tuesday, explaining

that through the attack, the hackers were able to acquire certain military intelligence.

According to the investigators, the hackers were able to breach security by first hacking

a civillian-manufactured cyber-vaccine program used by the military, and then using it to

infiltrate the military's online servers that distributed the vaccine.

Then they installed malicious code that intercepted military intel.

Authorities also said that a portion of the hackers seemed to be operating with IP addresses

connecting them to China.

Seven nations, EU hold working-level talks in Seoul on North Korea sanctions - Duration: 0:45.

Officials from seven countries and the European Union are set to hold working-level talks

today in Seoul aimed at strengthening sanctions on North Korea.

The Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun reports the participating nations, which include South

Korea, the U.S. and Japan,... will discuss ways to tighten existing unilateral sanctions

amid expectations North Korea could conduct a nuclear test or a ballistic missile launch.

The daily reports that the talks are in line with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's

proposal during a special UN Security Council meeting late last month of a "new approach"

in isolating the regime diplomatically and economically.

China is not taking part, but experts forecast the meeting will send a message to Beijing.

This Monologue Goes Out To You, Mr. President - Duration: 12:26.

>> Stephen: WELCOME TO THE LATE SHOWMENT I'M YOUR HOST,

STEPHEN COLBERT IT IT IS DAY-- (APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: IT IS DAY 100-- 102 OF THE TRUMP

PRESIDENCY, 1,358 DAYS TO GO.

BUT WHO'S COUNTING?

(LAUGHTER) (LAUGHTER)

(APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: NOW TRUMP HAS REPEATEDLY SAID THAT THIS

HUNDRED DAY THING IS TOTALLY ARBITRARY, OKAY.

TOTAL LEER UNIMPORTANT.

AND TO PROVE HOW UNIMPORTANT IT IS, HE TOOK OUT A TV AD, HE CUT

A CAKE ON AIR FORCE ONE, AND HE HELD A RALLY IN PENNSYLVANIA.

THE THEME OF THAT RALLY, PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT.

WHICH IS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL SLOGAN, PROMISES MADE,

NEVER MIND, NEVER SAID IT, FAKE NEWS, WATCH FOXAN FRIENDS.

SO, NICE, GOT A RHYTHM.

(APPLAUSE) HE ALSO PROVED JUST HOW

UNIMPORTANT THIS WAS WITH A BUNCH OF INTERVIEWS OVER THE

WEEKEND.

FIRST ON FRIDAY HE TALKED WITH REUTERS ABOUT HIS NEW JOB.

>> WELL, I LOVE MY-- I LOVED MY PREVIOUS LIFE, I LOVED MY

PREVIOUS LIFE.

HI SO MANY THINGS GOING.

I ACTUALLY, THIS IS MORE WORK THAN MY PREVIOUS LIFE.

I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EASIER.

>> Stephen: HUH.

HOW ABOUT THAT?

>> Jon: HE THOUGHT IT IT WOULD BE EASIER.

>> Stephen: IT IT TURNS OUT BEING LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD

IS HARDER THAN LICENSING YOUR NAME TO LUXURY MEAT.

DELICIOUS.

BUTS THAT HE'S NOT ALL.

HE TRUMPED ON.

>> I THOUGHT IT IT WAS MORE-- I'M A DETAILS ORIENTED

PERSON, I THINK YOU WOULD SAY THAT.

BUT I DO MISS MY OLD LIFE.

>> Stephen: WE ALL DO, SIR.

WE ALL MISS IT.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: I GET WHY HE MISSES IT, I GET IT MAN.

BECAUSE IN HIS OLD LIFE HE COULD SPEND HIS DAYS GOLFING,

INSULTING PEOPLE ON TWITTER AND HANGING OUT WITH HIS FAMILY.

ALSO, NOW.

BUT THAT'S NOT THE ONLY REASON HE'S BUMMED.

IT'S ALSO BECAUSE, I CAN'T DRIVE ANY MORE.

AND YOU KNOW HE DROVE ALL THE TIME.

HE WAS A GREAT DRIVER.

JUST LOOK HOW COMFORTABLE HE IS BEHIND THE BHEEL.

(LAUGHTER) -- WHEEL.

THAT'S PACKLY HOW I DRIVE.

HANDS AT 7 AND 5, MOUTH OPEN, SCREAMING.

AAHHH!

RED LIGHTED!

THANKS, OBAMA.

>> Jon: OPEN ROAD.

>> Stephen: OF COURSE HE ADDRESSED THE PROUDEST

ACHIEVEMENT OF HIS PRESIDENCY, EXISTING.

BECAUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF DISCUSSING CHINESE AMERICAN

RELATIONS WITH THE REUTERS REPORTERS STOPPED TO HAND OUT

COPIES OF WHAT HE SAID WERE THE LATEST FIGURES OF THE 2016

ELECTORAL MAP SAYING PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT, THE RED IS

OBVIOUSLY US.

THE BLUE, OBVIOUSLY DEMOCRATS, EXCEPT WHEN IT'S WATER, HARD TO

TELL.

AQUA MAN, PERSONAL FRIEND, GREAT GUY.

PROBABLY.

PROBABLY.

(APPLAUSE) THERE IS EVEN A PICTURE.

>> I COLORED THESE MYSELF.

THESE ARE ALL-- THESE ARE ALL PLACEMATS.

I HAD THEM-- I HAD THEM-- CAN YOU PUT THAT PHOTO BACK UP.

THIS IS MY IMPRESSION OF A T-REX, LITTLE HANDS, LIKE THIS,

LIKE-- (APPLAUSE)

LIKE THIS.

>> Stephen: EVERYTHING IS IN HERE.

I'M PROUD TO SAY THAT THE OFFICIAL DEFINING HUNDRED DAYS

INTERVIEW TOOK PLACE RIGHT HERE ON CBS WITH THE NATION FACE

HIMSELF JOHN DICKERSON YESTERDAY.

AND HE STARTED OFF WITH NORTH KOREA.

>> MR. PRESIDENT, YOU AND THE ADMINISTRATION SAID TO NORTH

KOREA, DON'T TEST A MISSILE.

THEY HAVE TESTED A MISSILE.

IS THE PRESSURE NOT WORKING?

>> WELL, I DIDN'T SAY DON'T TEST A MISSILE.

HE IS GOING TO HAVE TO DO WHAT HE HAS TO DO.

>> Stephen: SO YOU ARE OFFICIAL POLICY IS, YOU DO YOU.

WHAT CAN I SAY, HITLER GONNA HITLER.

KIM JONG GONNAU N.

>> THEN OUR FRIEND JOHN DICKERSON ASKED TRUMP WHAT HE

THOUGHT OF KIM JONG UN.

>> I CAN TELL IT YOU THIS, A THE LO OF PEOPLE DON'T LIKE WHEN I

SAY IT IT HE WAS A YOUNG MAN OF 26 OR 27 WHEN HE TOOK OVER FROM

HIS FATHER.

A LOT OF PEOPLE, I'M SURE, TRIED TO TAKE THAT POWER AWAY.

WHETHER IT IT WAS HIS UNCLE OR ANYBODY ELSE.

AND HE WAS ABLE TO DO IT.

SO OBVIOUSLY HE'S A PRETTY SMART COOKIE.

>> Stephen: SO, TRUMP THINKS-- NO, NO, TRUMP THINGS

KIM JONG UNIS A SMART COOKIE TO WHICH ALL OF NORTH KOREA

REPLIED, COOKIE?

HE'S A MONSTER.

THE POINT IS HE IS A MONSTER.

FAT LITTLE MONSTER.

NOW DICKERSON GAMELY TRIED TO GET TRUMP TO COMMIT TO RELEASING

HIS TAX RETURN FINALLY BUT IT IT WAS THE SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE

ABOUT UNDER AUDIT.

SO I WOULD LIKE TO REPHRASE THE QUESTION.

MR. PRESIDENT, CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR TAX RETURNS AS A

METAPHOR FOR YOUR PENIS.

>> I HAVE A VERY BIG TAX RETURN.

YOU'VE SEEN THE PICTURE, MY TAX RETURN IS PROBABLY HIGHER THAN

THAT, FROM THE FLOOR.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT OTHER PEOPLE'S TAX RETURN, EVEN OTHER WEALTHY

PEOPLE, THEIR TAX RETURN IS THIS THING.

MY TAX RETURN IS THIS HIGH.

>> Stephen: WE GET IT.

YOU HAVE A HUGE TAX RETURN.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE NICE, A FULL RELEASE.

PLAWTION (APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: THERE ST. SORRY-- SO I HEARD.

I WOULDN'T KNOW.

I'M FLAT ERRED BUT I'M NOT INTO THAT SCENE.

LATER IN THE SAME INTERVIEW TRUMP GAVE DICKERSON A TOUR OF

THE OVAL OFFICE.

>> THIS IS THE RESOLUTE DESK T SAY GREAT DESK WITH A PHENOMENAL

HISTORY.

THIS WAS FDR, IT WAS RONALD REAGAN, IT WAS KENNEDY.

THERE ARE SOME GREAT PRESIDENTS BEHIND THIS DESK.

>> Stephen: HE YES, AND IF YOU PUT YOUR EAR TO IT LIKE A SEA

SHELL, YOU CAN HEAR ALL OF THEM ROLLING IN THEIR GRAVE.

AND PRESIDENT TRUMP-- (APPLAUSE)

AND PRESIDENT TRUMP EXPLAINED THAT VISITORS ARE AWED BY THE

POWER OF THE OVAL OFFICE.

>> IN ONE CASE I WON'T SAY WHO, SOMEBODY YOU KNOW VERY WELL, THE

HEAD OF A MAJOR, MAJOR COMPANY.

THE PERSON CAME INTO THE OVAL OFFICE AND STARTED TO CRY.

THIS IS A TOUGH PERSON, BY THE WAY.

CAME INTO THE OVAL OFFICE AND STARTED TO CRY.

>> Stephen: MR. PRESIDENT, IF I CAME TO THE OVAL OFFICE AND

SAW YOU SITTING BEHIND THE DESK, I WOULD CRY TOO.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: NOW THERE WAS A NICE MOMENT WHEN JOHN DICKERSON

TALKED ABOUT SOME PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS THOUGHTS WITH TRUMP,

OTHER MEN WHO HAVE STOOD IN THAT ROOM AND THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRESIDENCIMENT BUT I'M NOT QUITE

CLEAR SURE THAT DONALD TRUMP UNDERSTOOD THE MESSAGEMENT

GEORGE W. BUSH SAID THE REASON THE OVAL OFFICE IS ROUND IS

THERE ARE NO CORNERS YOU CAN BEHIND IN.

>> IN IS TRUTH TO THAT.

THERE ARE CERTAINLY NO CORNERS.

>> Jon: WAIT, WAIT, I DON'T KNOW.

I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S WHAT HE MEANT.

>> Stephen: OKAY, OKAY, LET'S BE POSITIVE.

AT LEAST HE KNOWS HIS SHAPES.

HE KNOWS OVAL, OKAY.

HE KNOWS THE PENTAGON.

AND RHOMBUS, BECAUSE IT'S REINCE PRIEBUS' MIDDLE NAME, REINCE

RHOMBUS PRIEBUS.

AND OT SUBJECT OF PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS, DICKERSON ASKED

TRUMP IF HE STILL STANDS BY CLAIMS THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA

WIRETAPPED HIM.

>> DO YOU STAND BY THAT CLAIM.

>> I DON'T STAND BY ANYTHING.

>> Stephen: IT'S TRUE.

HE DOESN'T STAND BY ANYTHING, EXCEPT THE DRESSING ROOM DOOR AT

MISS U.S.A. PAGEANT.

(APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: WHO NEEDS SOME LOTION.

BUT BASED ON A TRUE STORY, THAT JOKE.

BUT DICKERSON ASKED HIS QUESTION ANYWAY.

>> BUT I'M ASKING YOU.

BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT.

>> YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK ME.

>> WHY NOT?

>> BECAUSE I HAVE MY OWN OPINIONS AM YOU CAN HAVE YOUR

OWN OPINIONS.

>> BUT I WANT TO KNOW YOUR OPINIONS, YOU ARE THE PRESIDENT

OF THE UNITED STAITLE.

>> THAT'S ENOUGH, THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> Stephen: CAN'T TALK ANY MORE, NO, CAN'T TALK ANY MORE.

IMPORTANT-- IMPORTANT PRESIDENCY WORK HERE.

GOT TO PRESIDENT ALL OVER THESE PAPERS HERE.

LET'S SEE, LET'S SEE, WHAT THIS, YES, STILL PAPER, STILL BLANK

PAPER, NOTHING ON THERE, LET'S SEE, LET ME READ THIS

PRESIDENTIAL BRIEFING.

YEAH, I GOT THE BRIEFING RIGHT HERE.

I GOT THE BRIEFING, YES, IT'S TRUE, WE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: YES, OH, OH, YEAH, SORRY, JOHN, CAN'T TALK, GOT

TO-- GOT TO DO SOMETHING, GOT TO-- GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT

THE NATION OF CHARMINISTAN, SORRY ABOUT THAT.

WE MUST WIPE THEM OFF THE MAP, UH-HUH.

IS DICKERSON STILL OVER THERE, I DON'T WANT TO LOOK.

IS HE STILL-- BRRRING, BRR,ING, SORRY, HELLO, HELLO, YES, A VERY

SECURE PHONE, YES, THIS IS DONALD TRUMP.

JOHN, I GOT TO TAKE THIS CALL, IT'S THE PRESIDENT OF ASIA

CALLING.

HELLO.

REALLY IMPORTANT, SWRON, I CAN'T HEAR YOU, I'VE GOT A BANANA IN

MY EAR.

OBVIOUSLY I'M JOKING.

SOMETHING WAS ON THAT PAPER.

ALL RIGHT.

DO WE HAVE A REVERSE SHOT, JIM?

YEAH, THERE YOU GO.

BUT I GOT TO SAY, WALKING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE WASN'T

EVEN THE PRESIDENT'S BIGGEST INSULT TO JOHN DICKERSON.

>> AND I THINK ACTUALLY I'VE BEEN VERY CONSISTENT.

YOU KNOW, IT IS VERY FUNNY WHEN THE FAKE MEDIA GOES OUT, WHICH

WE CALL THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA, WHICH SOMETIMES I MUST SAY IS

YOU.

>> YOU MEAN ME PERSONALLY.

>> WELL, YOUR SHOW, I LOVE YOUR SHOW.

I CALL IT DEFACE THE NATION.

>> Stephen: REALLY.

DONALD TRUMP-- JOHN DICKERSON IS A FAIR-MINDED JOURNALIST.

AND ONE THE MOST COMPETENT PEOPLE WHO WILL EVER WALK INTO

YOUR OFFICE AND YOU TREAT HIM LIKE THAT?

NOW, JOHN DICKERSON HAS WAY TOO MUCH DIGNITY TO TRADE INSULTS

WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO HIS FACE.

BUT I, SIR, AM NO JOHN DICKERSON.

(APPLAUSE) AND WHEN YOU, OKAY, ALL RIGHT,

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO SOMETHING WE

CALL THE TIFFANY WAY.

WHEN YOU INSULT ONE MEIVE THE CBS FAMILY, YOU INSULT US ALL,

[2017 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION] Meet the Candidates #5 Superwoman, Simcrush Justice Party SIM Sang-jung - Duration: 10:32.

Eleven days to go.

In less that eleven days time, the nation will head to the polls to elect a president.

It's a presidential election taking place in this nice, spring weather for the first

time in South Korea's election history.

It's an election that precipitated from a sudden impeachment of ex-president over an

alleged bribery scandal.

And, now Koreans will have to make a decision based on a cut-short verification period.

To help you better analyze each candidate, we've been meeting with the candidates.

Today, I sit down with the presidential nominee of Justice Party, Sim Sang-jung.

Notice: Airdates of Bareun Party and Justice Party nominees have been switched due to filming

dates.

Sim Sang-jung, presidential nominee for the progressive Justice Party running in South

Korea's 2017 presidential election, thank you for squeezing time out of your absolutely

hectic campaigning schedule.

You've been a prominent labor activist and you are a three-term lawmaker.

Why are you running for the presidency this time around?

Over the last five months nearly 17 million candles were lit across this nation.

The Korean people came together to voice their disappointment.

They cried, "What kind of a country is this?

Let us survive together."

My goal is to boldly reform the current, 60-year old political system and transform Korea into

a nation of justice and equality, where anyone and everyone can make a living if he or she

works hard.

I decided to run for president to fulfill the desires of the Korean people.

Your campaign slogan is "A nation where labor is dignified."

Explain to us, what is a country where labor is dignified?

Korea has been constantly undergoing change over the past 60 years; 30 years of industrialization

and 30 years of democratization.

Through those changes Korea has now become one of the top ten economic powers in the

world and the nation's per capita income has increased by about 400 times over the course

of 60 years.

It is safe to say that no other nation in the world has ever achieved such rapid economic

growth and no other nation will ever be able to top that record either.

But the important thing is that the majority of Koreans are not happy.

Of the 20 million salaried workers, 10 million barely earn an average of US$ 2,000 per month.

As for medium and small traders and manufacturers, one in three can barely make US$ 1,000 per

month.

And, the farmers in this country make an average of only US$ 940 per month.

Such struggles faced by the Korean people are all due to the policies made by the government

in favor of the chaebol.

The Korean government has treated labor as merely an expense to fulfill their needs and

solely focused on the growth of the chaebol.

A democracy without respect for its laborers cannot create a society where the majority

of people can live happily.

First and foremost, it is my goal to reform the conglomerates that have held so much power

over the past 60 years to create a Korea where we can get rid of temporary positions and

provide our youth with quality jobs.

Economic growth and jobs.

I think it's an issue that comes up every election season and not only here but all

across the globe.

Do you have a blueprint of how you would steer Asia's fourth-largest economy so that the

benefits will trickle down to the ordinary people, too?

First of all, we are all well aware that the 4th Industrial Revolution is quickly becoming

a reality.

Therefore, I strongly believe we need to invest in ecological economics and in developing

new, renewable energy sources.

Just as former president Park Chung-hee built the Gyeongbu Expressway back in the 70s to

facilitate high-speed growth, and just as former president Kim Dae-jung installed fiber

optic cables to make Korea a leading nation in IT, I pledge to set up "solar electric

charge stations" nationwide and promote the use of new and renewable energy sources to

usher in the age of ecological economics.

Second, it is important to note that the manufacturing industry is lagging behind.

By implementing the changes that the 4th Industrial revolution will bring about, I will modernize

the manufacturing industry with cutting edge technology and make it more service-oriented

to bring about a second revival of manufacturing.

And most importantly, I will establish an SME cluster to strengthen SMEs by having companies

work together with the Korean people to promote growth from the bottom up.

When it comes to improving the economy, my plan is to start by supporting the Korean

people, with the goal of increasing the GDP by at least 10%.

Finally, my vision for the Korean economy lies in peace.

I aim to promote peaceful economic relations across the Korean Peninsula, a system that

I hope will eventually reach out all the way out to Europe.

The Korean peninsula at the moment is under international radar.

There's been a rapid escalation of tensions in this part of the world.

Continuous provocations by North Korean regime.

What is your policy vis-a-vis Pyongyang?

Above all else, I aim to cooperate with our allies and the international community to

ensure that any strategic military decisions in response to provocations from North Korea

will not result in a crisis situation.

On that note, as president I will not simply seek a countermeasure to the nuclear issue

of North Korea, but rather a fundamental solution.

There are clearly limitations to military action as even U.S. President Trump has said

he would no longer take a strategic approach in dealing with North Korea,

Military actions and THAAD are not enough in dealing with the North's nuclear issue.

That is why my immediate plan is to engage in peaceful diplomacy to freeze the North's

nuclear programs with the ultimate goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

A North Korean nuclear freeze entails putting a stop to any nuclear and missile tests essentially

removing future nuclear weapons.

The second step in this denuclearization process would be to negotiate any measures with Kim

Jong-un to remove any existing nuclear weapons.

This is not only my idea, but also one proposed by the impeached former-president Park.

To conclude, I will promote a step-by-step process to achieve denuclearization which

I consider to be the fundamental solution to this issue.

On the diplomatic front - South Korea not in the best situation currently.

There is a new president in the White House - very different from the last president with

a seemingly different approach to the North Korea issue.

There is China to the north, in a clash of interest with South Korea.

How would you best situate yourself so that South Korea puts the best foot forward in

this complex relationship?

The peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula has now become an international problem.

However since South Korea has been walking on eggshells between the U.S. and China, the

nation's diplomatic relations with neighboring countries has been deteriorating.

I would like to say that South Korea is in the crisis of falling down because previous

governments couldn't make up their minds on which super power to side with.

What I want to emphasize today is that the Republic of Korea currently has no voice when

it comes to the issue surrounding the Korean Peninsula despite the fact that this is its

own problem.

And so, I will create set a new stage wherein South Korea can take an active role in deciding

the future of the peninsula.

I will do this by first making the U.S. and China ensure peace within the peninsula by

acting as facilitators.

After this, I will also open an Asian chapter of the Helsinki Process which will strive

to balance the strategic benefits of neighboring world powers.

Now, my final question - a common question to all candidates.

Why does the Republic of Korea need Sim Sang-jung as president in 2017?

I have a message I would like to send to our nation's voters in and out of the country.

Up to this point, South Koreans have had the tendency to support the leading candidate

when it comes to voting.

But where did these leading candidates guide the nation to?

How has South Korea changed?

I want you to think about it carefully.

There is no such thing as a wasted vote.

I want all of you to reflect on whether it is really worth it to vote for the second-best

candidate just for the sake of a party change in power.

Take a minute to contemplate whether your lives have changed as a result of such a decision

when you vote in this election.

Some worry that your vote will go to waste if you vote for me, but I assure you once

again; there is no wasted vote.

I believe a wasted vote is one that's just given to the one leading opinion surveys.

I hold the key to reforming the nation.

If my approval rate turns out to be low, I would like to stress, in that instance, whoever

else ends up becoming the next president can easily betray the public sentiment represented

by candlelights.

I, Sim Sang-jung, will make the Republic of Korea a place where laborers can stand up

for themselves.

I will make our nation a place where the youth can fall in love again.

I ask for your full support, and promise to become a president who works toward changing

your lives.

Thank you.

Neil deGrasse Tyson Puts Earth's Smallness Into Perspective - Duration: 6:55.

FOLKS, MY NEXT GUEST IS THE CHRIS PRATT OF ASTROPHYSICS,

PLEASE WELCOME THE DIRECTOR OF THE THE HAYDEN PLANETARIUM RIGHT

HERE IN NEW YORK, NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON.

(APPLAUSE) .

>> Stephen:.

>> IT'S BEAUTIFUL, SO RYAN AND-- YEAH, IT IS BEAUTIFUL, THE

SHOW IS ROCKIN' TONIGHT.

OH MY GOSH.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE).

>> Stephen: I THINK, HERE IS THE THING, I THINK OF YOU AS

STAR LORD.

>> YEAH, NO, NO, I'M JUST HUMAN, YES.

>> Stephen: JUST HUMAN.

>> I'M JUST STAYING HUMAN, YEAH.

>> Stephen: NOW BIG SPACE NEWS THESE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS.

SPEAKING OF BEAUTIFUL, LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH.

THIS IS THE CASSINI SPACE CRAFT.

>> YOU DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING.

>> Stephen: WHAT AM I LOOKING AT.

>> OH, YEAH, YEAH, THIS IS NOT DUST HERE.

THIS, THIS IS EARTH SEEN THROUGH THE RINGS OF SATURN.

EARTH AND JUST A REMINDER, WE ARE A SPEK IN THE MIDDLE OF AS

COULD MICK VOID.

OCCUPYING WHAT WE CALL EARTH.

BUT IN FACT, IF YOU COME UPON OUR SOLAR SYSTEM FROM OUTSIDE,

YOU KNOW, IF YOU ARE AN ALIEN FIRST COMING UPON OUR SOLAR

SYSTEM, EARTH WOULD BE BARELY NGHTSED BUT YOU.

YOU WILL NOTICE SATURN AND JUPITER AND YOU WILL SAY WHAT

ARE THESE-- THESE BALLS OF ROCK ORBITING CLOSER TO THE SUN.

AND THIS IS CARL SAGAN MADE A POINT OF THIS BACK IN 1990 WHEN

HE TALKED ABOUT THE PALE BLUE DOT.

HE CONVINCED VOI YAJER, NASA, TO HAVE VOYAGER WHEN IT PASSED

NEPTUNE, THE LAST PLANET IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM, TO TURN-- I JUST

TELL IT IT LIKE IT IS.

HE CONVINCED VOYAGER TO TURN ITS CAMERA BACK TOWARDSth AND IT

BASICALLY AMOUNTS TO EARTH'S FIRST EVER SELFIE.

AND THAT PICTURE WAS TAKEN.

AND THERE WAS THESE PALE BLUE DOT SITTING IN THIS VOID.

AND HE WROTE A WHOLE BOOK ON THIS.

SO THESE PICTURES FROM SATURN WITH EARTH IS SORT OF THE MODERN

COUNTERPART TO THE PALE BLUE DOT.

>> Stephen: THERE'S GOING TO BE A SERIES OF 13 FLY BYES OF

CASSINI GOING INSIDE THE RINGS.

>> CASSINI HAS BEEN THERE FOR 12 YEARS.

AND IT'S NOW IN ITS FINAL DEATH SPIRAL TO HE DESCEND INTO SATURN

NEVER TO BE HEARD OF AGAIN.

>> Stephen: WE'RE GOING TO GET SOME CLOSE SHOTS ALONG THE WAY.

THIS IS THE TOP OF.

>> YES, WE WILL.

>> Stephen: THAT IS THE TOP OF A HURRICANE.

>> YOU KNOW, YOU GET THIS SIGH CLONIC ENERGY WHEN YOU ROTATE

FAST.

AND EARTH, WE GET STORMS ON EARTH AND WE ROTATE ONCE A DAY.

SATURN, WHICH BIGGER THAN EARTH ROTATES ONCE EVERY TEN HOURS OR

SO.

SO THE CORIOLIS FORCE IS SEVERE ON BOTH SATURN AND JUPITER.

YOU ZOOM IN ON THE CLOUD TOPS AND IT IS A TURBULENT MAELSTROM.

>> Stephen: THE WEATHER CHANNEL IS GETTING STIFFED.

ALL RIGHT, NOW TELL IT IT LIKE IT IS, BABY.

NOW YOU'VE GOT A NEW BOOK, ONE OF YOUR GREAT BOOKS.

IT'S ASTROPHYSICS FOR PEOPLE IN A HURRY.

WE'RE IN A HURRY.

WE'RE HAD IN A HURRY RIGHT NOW.

HIT ME WITH SOME ASTROPHYSICS I NEED TO KNOW B NEIL.

>> IN THERE, THERE ARE A DOZEN CHAPTERS.

AN THANKS FOR ASKING ABOUT THIS.

BECAUSE I-- MY SOUL IS IN THAT BOOK.

IT IS AN EXPLORATION OF ALL THE FRAGMENTS OF THE COSMOS YOU HAVE

HEARD ABOUT IN NEWS HEADLINES AND YOU CHANNEL SURF A

DOCUMENTARY.

AND YOU HEARD XO PLANET, DARK MATTER, DARK ENERGY, MULTIVERSE,

BUT YOU NEVER QUITE PUT IT TOGETHER.

SO I THINK OF THIS AS THE CON SUMATION OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP

WITH THE COSMOS.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT-- A WHOLE CHAPTER DARK MATTER AND WE END

WITH AS COULD MICK PERSPECTIVE WHICH ANYBODY, YOU SHOULD NOT BE

WALKING THE STREETS WITHOUT A BAPTISM OF AS COULD MICK

PERSPECTIVE.

>> Stephen: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, BAPTISM.

>> YOU NEED TO BE IMMERSED.

IF YOU LOOK UP IN THE UNIVERSE AND FEEL SMALL IT IS BECAUSE YOU

STARTED OUT WITH AN EGO UNJUSTIFIABLY TOO HIGH TO BEGIN

WITH.

SO WHAT YOU-- SO YES, IT IT IS EGO BUSTING.

YES, TO LEARN, NO EARTH, IS NOT THE MIDDLE OF THE YEURS, NEITHER

IS THE SUN.

NOORT IS OUR GALAXY AND ARE YOU SMALL, YOU IN TIME AND IN SPACE,

THAT IS ALL TRUE.

BUT THES COULD MICK PERSPECTIVE TAKES A STEP BEYOND THAT.

AND IT IT ALLOWS YOU TO SAY, TO REALIZE THAT, YOU KNOW, THE

ATOMS IN YOUR BODY, THE MOLECULES THAT COMPROMISE LIFE

ARE TRACEABLE TO STARS THAT MANUFACTURE THOSE ELEMENTS IN

THEIR CRUISE I BELIEVES OF THEIR CORE.

AND THEN EXPLODE SCATTERING THAT ENRICHMENT ACROSS THE GAL

OOKSY-- GALAXY ENABLING NEXT GENERATIONS OF STARS TO FORM

PLANETS.

AND AT LEAST ON ONE PLANET LIFE.

AND AT LEAST AT THIS TIME, PEOPLE.

SO WE ARE PARTICIPATES IN THE GREAT UNFOLDING OF THISES COULD

MICK STORY.

SO PEOPLE LIKE TO THINK, I'M SPECIAL BECAUSE I'M DIFFERENT.

BUT THERE IS A WHOLE OTHER WAY TO LOOK AT IT.

MAYBE YOU ARE SPECIAL BECAUSE YOU ARE THE SAME.

MAYBE-- MAYBE-- WE'RE SPECIAL BECAUSE OUR INGREDIENTS ARE

TRACEABLE ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.

THAT'S ALMOST SPIRITUAL IN ITS MEANING AND SIGNIFICANTS ON WHAT

IT IS TO BE HUMAN.

AND THE FACT THAT OUR THREE POUNDS OF GRAY MATTER FIGURED

THIS OUT.

AND SO, SO, THIS LITTLE VOLUME THAT YOU ARE NOW COVERING UP

WITH YOUR HAND-- (LAUGHTER)

SO I'M JUST SAYING, IT'S GOT MY SOUL OF CURIOSITY, MY-- IT'S A

CUR RATED OFFERING OF THE COOLEST MIND-BLOWING THINGS IN

THE UNIVERSE, WHICH IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY AND YOU DON'T HAVE

TIME TO READ A WHOLE VOLUME, IT'S HERE FOR YOU.

BY THE WAY, IT'S NOT DUMBED DOWN, IT'S REAL ASTROPHYSICS BUT

IT IT IS A HAND PICKED SELECTION OF WHAT I THINK IS AT THE CENTER

OF PEOPLE'S CURIOSITY ABOUT OUR PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE.

>> Stephen: I JUST WANT TO SAY, I'M LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE

BECOME FRIENDS WITH THIS MAN, AND THIS IS WHAT IT IS LIKE ALL

THE TIME.

(LAUGHTER) ASTROPHYSICS IN A HURRY.

ASTROPHYSICS PR PEOPLE IN A HURRY IS AVAILABLE NOW.

2014.

Jiwadamai | Bali | Ubud - Duration: 4:06.

I wanted to work on an organic farm and

I saw that Jiwadamai not only

had the permaculture aspect but the

connection with the community in hiring

local staff and providing enrichment to

after-school programs for local

Indonesian street youth and has the

personal growth aspect with yoga and

meditation with heart opening, discussions

with all of these various entities that

fet like the full scope of what Bali has

to offer I knew that this was going to

be the place for me.

We are an educational nonprofit

organization and welcome guest,

classes, workshops as well as many

volunteers from all over the world and

we offer internships. Our main aim is in

a wonderful setting getting close to

the earth working from the heart to

learn the skills about gardening and

education as well as supporting inner

growth. A lot of people come here and

looking for different way of life and

they are searching and we offer an

environment where both is possible.

Here at Jiwadamai we are

connecting with each other.

The volonteers and the stuff are working

together and helping each other.

I enjoy here most the organic planting.

My experience since I work here is a lot.

I can improve my english, learn how to make poducts

like coconutoil, dryfruits out of banana and Papaya at Jiwadamai.

I also learn how to harvest moringa

and many other things.

I think that most impactful

experience I've had here is kind of

feeling like I come back to life just

being around the garden in this

environment where everything is just

ripe and scheming this life and I went

deeper into myself, yoga,

Meditation and working and kind of finding

that same natural quality of the earth

breathing life back into me all these

different ways.

So the reason that I came to Jiwadamai is

because, there was a point in my life where I

have been a lot of different things, in

the hotel restaurant and hospitality

Business. I was missing the element the

earth the gardening and I've never been

exposed to taking care of a garden or

planting. And so the program was exactly

what I was looking for.

This place has a special energy it has something

underneath it that is this collective

consciousness that kind of

unites us all and whether you

subscribe to that belief system or not

you can feel that energy from an

individual standpoint so strongly

whether it's in the garden whether it's

with yoga whether it's this meditation

you know there is something about this

place it's very special and you will just

dive right into that so yeah it's been

an incredible experience it had major

impacts on my life and I'm sure I

haven't even discovered yet

"2017 Indoor and Martial Arts games is very important game for me.

Especially, from Korea, our coach Jaesoong Lee, we have training with him everyday, in

morning and every evening, in morning, we do running we do physical training and with

him evening, we do basic training, technique training, spinning.

I hope that on the competition, I will take a gold medal."

Turkmenistan formed its Taekwondo national team in 2000, but the Central Asian country

has yet to win a medal in an international event.

Yet coach Lee Jae-soong, who joined the team in February, is very optimistic.

"The Turkmen athletes have great potential as they are very young.

Some even have experience in international events like the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

I'm trying to train them techniques that suit their body type.

For tall athletes, higher kicks to the head, for shorter athletes, back kicks, which now

also get you two points."

The main objective of Taekwondo is to kick the opponent on the scoring areas like the

head and the body during three two-minute rounds.

The rules changed earlier this year; kicks to the head are still three points and punches

one point, but kicks to the body are now worth two points instead of one, making the sport

more dynamic and active.

The fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, showcasing 21 different sports, will take

place from September 17th to the 27th in Ashgabat.

PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE Part 2 - Making Sentences (Form) - Basic English Grammar - Duration: 17:34.

Hi.

This lesson is all about making sentences

in the present simple tense.

I'll show you how to make correct sentences and

avoid mistakes in grammar and spelling.

So let's begin.

Welcome back to my series of lessons on the tenses.

This is part two of the present simple tense.

As always, if you have any

questions at all, just let me know in the comments

section below, and I will talk to you there.

Alright, in this lesson, we will first learn how to

make positive (or affirmative) sentences in

the present simple tense.

I will teach you when to add

–s to a verb such as 'He works', 'She wishes' etc.

You will also learn the spelling rules for adding

–s to a verb.

Then we'll look at how to make

negative sentences, and finally we will discuss the

special case of the verb 'be'.

There are exercises throughout this lesson, and

there's a final quiz at the end.

OK, so how do you make a sentence in the present

simple?

I'm sure you know the answer – you just take

a subject (like I, you, we, they, he, she, it etc.) and

you add a verb.

For example, "I work."

And you can add any other

information to the sentence, like "I work as a teacher."

You can do this with other verbs too – "I play chess

once a week."

"I eat two eggs for breakfast every

day."

"I love my family."

These are all present simple tense sentences, and

if you remember from the previous lesson, the first

sentence is a permanent situation, the second and

third talk about things I do regularly (habits or

routines), and the last sentence is a state using

the state verb 'love'.

These are the main uses of the present simple tense.

Now, of course, it's easy to make these sentences

with 'I' as the subject.

What about other subjects?

Well, let's take the verb 'work' and try out some

other subjects.

You – work.

We – work.

They – work.

What about 'Those men'?

Those men work.

'My friends'?

Work.

These subjects are just like 'I'.

But what happens when we have 'He' as the subject?

He works.

She works.

It works.

That man - works.

Suzie?

Works.

So you can see here that if the subject is 'I', 'You',

'We', 'They' or any plural noun such as 'Those men' or

'My friends' then you use the verb in the base form

without –s.

But if the subject is 'He', 'She',

'It' or any singular noun like 'That man' or 'Suzie'

or any other name, then you take the base form of the

verb and you add –s.

It's important to know that this –s is only used in the

present tense.

It's not used in the past or future

– only the present.

OK, let's now do a small

exercise with this.

There are nine sentences on the screen.

I want you to choose the correct form of

the verb in each sentence.

Pause the video now if you want – think about your

answers, then play the video again and check.

Alright, let's look at the answers.

Number one – "He reads a lot of books."

Number two – "Many children play baseball."

Number three – "You like tomato

soup."

Number four – "That bird flies fast."

Number five – "I teach English."

Number six – "We live together."

Number seven – "She goes to college."

Number eight – "It works just fine."

Number nine – "They cook very well."

Did you get them all right?

OK, I want you to notice something here.

We've added –s to some verbs.

But to the verb 'go', we didn't

just add –s, we added 'es'.

And to 'fly', we took out the 'y' and added '-ies'.

Why did we do that?

Well, it's because there are some

important spelling rules for adding –s to a verb.

Let's talk about those now.

To most verbs, we just add 's'.

So verbs like 'love', 'run', 'work', 'speak',

'want' etc. just take an –s at the end.

To some verbs we add 'es' – verbs like

'pass', 'wish', 'search', 'fix', 'go' and 'do'.

But why is that?

Can you guess the rule?

If you want, stop the video, look at the

verbs, think about it, then play the video again and

check.

Here's the rule: If a verb ends in –s, -sh, -ch, or –

x, then we add 'es' to the verb.

If you think about it, these sounds are all

related - 's', 'sh', 'ch', 'x' – they all sound

similar, and it's easier to pronounce them if you add

'es' – 'passes', 'wishes', 'searches', 'fixes' and so

on.

Also, if a verb ends in 'o' and has a consonant

before it like 'g' or 'd' then we add 'es'.

Don't worry so much about this

rule – just remember to put 'es' in 'goes' and 'does.'

With verbs ending in –y, we just add 's' to some verbs

like 'buy, 'play' or 'enjoy'.

But with other verbs like 'try', 'fly' and

'study', we remove the 'y' and we add 'ies.'

Why do we do that?

Can you guess the rule?

Well, if you look at the verbs 'buy', 'play' and

'enjoy' you see that they end in a vowel plus –y.

A vowel is one of these

letters - 'a', 'e', 'I','o' and 'u'.

These verbs just take an 's' after them.

So we have 'buys', 'plays' and 'enjoys'

What about the next set of verbs?

Here, you see that they end in a consonant

(like 'r', 'l' or 'd') plus y.

Any letter that is not a vowel is a consonant.

In English there are twenty-six

letters: five vowels (a, e, i, o, and u), and twenty-one

consonants.

Finally, there are some spellings we call irregular

because there are no rules for them – the verbs 'have'

and 'be' are the most common ones.

'Have' becomes 'has' which is just 'h',

'a', 's', and the verb 'be' has three forms – am, is,

and are.

We'll talk about the verb 'be' later in this lesson.

OK, now you know how to make positive sentences,

and when to add –s to a verb using the correct

spelling.

So let's move on to making negative

sentences in the present simple tense.

To talk about making negative sentences, you

need to know a little secret about the English

language.

This is important for making negative

sentences in any tense, not just the present simple.

The secret is that most English sentences have two

verbs – a main verb and a helping verb.

Let's take one of our original

examples : "I play chess once a week".

Now you might be saying, "I only see one

verb – play."

Well, the verb 'play ' is the main verb in this

sentence.

So where's the helping verb?

In the present simple tense, the

helping verb is often hiding – it's the verb

'do'.

Normally, when we speak, we don't say it but

it's still there.

Now different tenses have

different helping verbs but remember that for the

present simple tense, the helping verb is 'do'.

OK, why is this important?

It's important because to make negative sentences,

you need to bring the helping verb out of its

hiding place.

That's the first step.

The second step is to add the negative word 'not'.

So "I do not play chess once a

week."

When we speak, this might sound very mechanical

like a robot – "I do not play chess."

To sound more natural, we usually shorten

'do not' to don't.

So "I don't play chess once a week."

In this sentence, the subject is 'I'.

Here's the form table for present

simple tense sentences.

I want you to fill in the

correct negative form for all the other subjects.

If you're not sure, just take

a guess.

Stop the video if you want, think about it,

then play the video and check.

Alright, the subjects 'I', 'You', 'We', 'They' and all

plurals are straightforward – you just put 'do not' or

'don't' in front of the verb.

"I don't play chess", "You don't play chess", "My

friends don't play chess" etc.

But for 'He', 'She', 'It' or any singular noun,

remember you must add 's' to the verb.

But where do you add the 's'?

Well you add it to the helping verb

– 'do'.

So for these subjects : 'does not',

shortened to 'doesn't' is used to make the negative.

"He doesn't play chess", "She doesn't play chess",

"Suzie doesn't play chess" etc.

Pay attention to the pronunciation of that –

it's pronounced /dʌznt/ - there's a 'z ' sound there

– it's not an 's' sound.

So /dʌznt/.

Here's a quick exercise.

You see nine sentences on the screen.

These are the same sentences from the

first exercise.

But here, I've made them negative.

Now, some of these sentences are correct, and

some are wrong.

If a sentence is wrong, I want

you to change it to the correct form.

Stop the video now if you want.

Think about your answers, then play the video again

and check.

Alright, the form table is on the screen now, and

let's look at the answers.

Number one is wrong.

It should be "He doesn't read

a lot of books."

This is a very common mistake – in

negative sentences in the present simple tense, you

should only add 's' to the helping verb and you have

'doesn't'.

Don't add –s again to the main verb.

Number two is correct.

We have a plural subject –

"Many children don't play baseball."

Number three is wrong.

For 'You' the correct negative form is

'don't.'

So "You don't like tomato soup."

Number four is also wrong.

'That bird' is a singular noun, so we

need 'doesn't' here.

"That bird doesn't fly fast."

Number five is correct – "I don't teach English."

Number six is wrong – you need 'don't' again because

the subject is 'We'.

So "We don't live together.

Number seven is wrong as well.

And this is another common type

of error.

The –s is added here – that's good – but

it's added to the main verb – go.

It should be added to the helping verb, not the

main verb.

So "She doesn't go to college."

Number eight is correct – "It doesn't work."

Finally, number nine is wrong.

For 'They' you need 'don't'.

So "They don't cook very

well."

Alright, let's now move on to the final topic in this

lesson, and that is the special case of the verb 'be'.

Why is the verb 'be' a "special case"?

Well, it's different from other verbs

in two ways: first, it's irregular.

What does that mean?

Well, if you remember, we learned that the verb

'work' has two present simple forms: You use 'work'

with 'I', 'You', 'We', 'They' and plural subjects.

And you use 'works' with 'He', 'She', 'It' and

singular subjects.

All verbs are like this – they

have two present simple forms.

Except for the verb 'be'.

This verb has three forms – am, is, and are.

If the subject is 'I' we use 'am'.

For example, "I am a teacher."

In speech, we normally shorten this to

"I'm " - "I'm a teacher."

If the subject is 'He', 'She', 'It' or any singular

noun, then we use 'is'.

"He is", "She is" or "He's" and

"She's".

"Jamila is a teacher" (or you could say

"Jamila's a teacher").

If the subject is 'You', 'We', 'They' or any plural

noun, then we use 'are.'

So "You're", "We're" and

"They're".

Notice that when we have plural nouns (like

Charles and Julie) we don't shorten the verb – that is,

we say 'are' fully – "Charles and Julie are

teachers".

We only shorten pronouns and singular

nouns.

So that's the first difference between 'be' and

other verbs – there are three forms: 'am', 'is',

and 'are'.

The second difference is that the verb

'be' is very strong.

What I mean by that is when 'be'

is the main verb in a sentence, then it needs NO

helping verb.

Remember : to make "I work" negative, we say "I don't

work" – so 'work' is the main verb and 'do' is the

helping verb.

But 'be' does not need a helping

verb.

And this is important because when you want to

make a negative sentence, you add 'not'

right after 'be'.

You can see this now – 'I'm not'.

'He's not' 'She's not'.

'You're not', 'We're not' and so on.

Sometimes, you will see the forms 'isn't' and 'aren't'.

This is especially true with plural nouns.

This is also correct.

Alright, keep these rules in mind when

making sentences with 'be'.

Let's now do a quick recap of this lesson.

We started with making positive (or affirmative)

statements.

We discussed rules for adding –s to the

verb in a sentence.

We then looked at spelling rules

for adding the –s.

You see the chart on the screen

now.

Then we moved on to making negative sentences.

Remember to pull the helping verb 'do' out of

its hiding place, put it before the main verb and

add 'not' to it.

Finally, we learned the two

important ways in which the verb 'be' is different –

first, it has three forms – 'am', 'Is' and 'are', and

second, it has no helping verb, so to make negative

sentences, you put 'not' right after it.

Alright, it's now time for the test to see if you can

make present simple tense sentences correctly.

On the screen, there are ten sentences.

In each sentence, you see the verb

in parentheses (or round brackets).

Fill in the gaps with the correct form of

the verb.

If you see a plus sign, use a positive form,

and if you see a minus sign, use a negative form.

In sentences nine and ten, there are two signs because

there are two verbs.

Stop the video now if you want,

think about your answers, then play the video again

and check.

Alright, let's look at the answers.

Number one is "She studies computer science."

Note the spelling – 'studies' is spelled

without 'y' and with 'ies'.

Number two – "Krishna is a fantastic singer."

because Krishna is a singular noun.

Number three is "We usually don't eat dinner so early."

You can also say "We don't usually eat dinner so

early."

– that's also OK.

Number four is "I hate loud music."

Number five – "Elsa and Kurt don't live in Las

Vegas anymore."

Be careful when there are two nouns

like in this sentence.

Some people make the mistake of

saying 'doesn't' because they're thinking about Elsa

and Kurt as singular nouns.

But because they're two people, they're a plural

subject – 'don't' is correct.

Number six - "He's not very friendly."

or "He isn't very friendly" – both are

OK.

Number seven should be "My daughter misses me when

I'm away."

'Misses' is spelled with 'es',

remember.

Number eight – "You wake up at 6 am every day, don't

you?"

In number nine, there are two gaps : "She says

she doesn't remember me."

It's a common mistake to say "She say."

Don't make that mistake – it's "He

says" and "She says".

Alright, and finally, in number ten, again two gaps:

"Those aren't spoons.

They're forks."
