Catlin: At the end of last season,
The Saint is brought back into his Hell cell,
where they play his past on a loop, over and over again.
But before they turn on his movie,
he says he wants to talk to Satan.
So, now we pick up this season
with, "Well, what do they want to talk to each other about?"
He knows that Eugene and Hitler have escaped Hell.
Things are just, like, not running as they should be.
Catlin: The optics for Hell, in terms of people escaping --
i.e., Hitler, i.e., Eugene -- is not good.
Souls escaping my realm, that's actually bad for me.
And what's bad for me is just...bad.

Hell, yes. Hell, yes.
Sober spells and aphrodisiacs are one thing,
but the way to really bring in the money,
the way to really bring in the desperate customers,
is the Tombs.
The more people come in, the more chance they have
of somebody getting behind on their bill,
And when they don't pay their bill,
then they get their soul sucked out,
which means now they get thrown into the Tombs
to fight, which creates more customers.
So it's sort of like a Vegas casino,
where it just, like, preys on people's weaknesses.

Cassidy is a good fighter for the Tombs
because he's immortal.
If you give him blood, he can repair, he can be fresh
and ready for another fight the next evening.
So he's like this new theme, this new element to the Tombs
that they've never had before,
and that's the way that Jesse presents it.
When he's watching Cassidy,
even though he's trying to save his life,
he also loves seeing him maybe being ripped apart.

Cassidy is nowhere near to trusting Jesse anyways.
Thinks he just wants Tulip for himself.
And Cassidy is just so stubborn,
he doesn't like people telling him what to do.
And he's done with Jesse Custer telling him what to do.
And he doesn't want to leave Tulip behind.
And so it's sort of that thing where it's like,
"I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna just
keep taking a beating and beating and a beating,
and sooner or later,
Tulip is gonna see you the way I see you,
which is a completely corrupt,
selfish, predatory son of a bitch.
And when that day comes,
then she and I will leave together."

Goldberg: And Jesse was just trying
to make Cassidy go any way he can,

Cooper: My last resort is prove to her that I'm completely evil.
And she sees it, and she can't believe it.
Negga: The viciousness with which she sees him do this
in this arena where he seems to be holding court,
like he's belonged there
like he's never belonged anywhere,
she doesn't want to believe
that at his core, there is a evil shard.
Catlin: Cassidy thinks that his plan has worked,
but Tulip has taken away something different.
She's guessing
that Jesse was pretending to be worse than he was.
So he's really trying to scare them both off
for their own good. In a way, it's
the most charitable thing he's done so far in the series.
And I think Tulip is smart enough
and knows Jesse in a way that Cassidy doesn't quite,
that she sees through it.
It makes her love him
perhaps more than she ever has before.
So, we're [Inhales deeply] good again?
Only one way to find out.
