How to get back in swimming shape - Duration: 3:07.

Getting back in shape is difficult in any sport but it is specially difficult in swimming.

I believe that it is because humans are not made for swimming but we are very good adapting

to new environments.

So the more time you spend in the water the more you will develop a feel for how to move

effectively through the water.

As Michael phelps said

I went 5 straight years without missing a single work out.

365 days.

Every single day I was in the water.

And in the sport of swimming when you miss one day it takes you two days to get back.

So I was already that much, continuing to built up on that throughout that time.

Chances are you already know this if you have missed practice or had a couple of weeks off.

so what is the fastest way to get back in shape?

Well if you have missed one week or so, then there is no way around it.

You just have to power through the first few practices and then everything gets progressively

better.

However, if you have missed a month or more of swimming practices and you are used to

swimming almost every day or every other day then you should take it slow.

I know that your first instinct will be to sprint at the first chance you have, but that

is when you are most likely to get injured.

Your body has gotten used to not swimming, so you need to take it a little slower.

For the first few practices you need to swim at 70 or 80% effort.

You need to develop that feel for the water again and that only comes after spending a

few hours in the pool.

After a week or so you will feel better in the water but you will still need to develop

endurance.

This is when you need to focus on your goal and just keep going.

If you are going to miss practice and want to suffer less to get back in shape, you can

do some aerobic work while you are away from the pool, like running or jumping rope.

However keep in mind that there is nothing that substitutes swimming.

So the easiest way to get in shape is to try to avoid being away from a swimming pool for

long.

Remember, if you have been away from the pool for a while you will feel awful, but keep

in mind this is temporary.

Hold on and keep swimming.

SWAT Officer Michael Wayne of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sitting in his police car Wednesday,

August 9 when a woman approached him with two Walmart bags.

The woman, Shameka Batiste, seemed nervous as she handed the goodies to Wayne before

scurrying away.

Among many other things, Wayne was gifted with two bananas, a liter of Coke, and a giant

sandwich.

A handwritten note was also attached to the receipt.

"The note thanked me for choosing to be who I am and said that her [10-year-old] son

Rashad wanted to be a SWAT Officer one day," Wayne wrote in a viral Facebook post.

He was so moved by the gesture that he scoured the parking lot until he found Batiste.

The new acquaintances had a brief conversation about Wayne's 9-year career on the force.

Batiste mentioned how she teaches her children to not see color.

Most importantly, she praises the experiences she's had with law enforcement.

According to Wayne, their meeting ended on common ground.

"We exchanged several long hugs … she told me to stay safe and that she loved me,"

Wayne said.

After such a great encounter, he couldn't wait to meet Batiste's son.

Several days later, Wayne and Rashad came face-to-face.

The SWAT officer learned that the young boy sells cakes to help people in need.

Wayne made a $40 donation to Rashad's charity, "Baby Bears Bundts," and also gave him

a Star badge to wear.

He expressed how happy he was to have met the two.

"I have much love for Shameka and Rashad, and I look forward to building a wonderful

relationship with their family," he wrote.

"Love over hate…"

In a separate Facebook post, Batiste also shared the same sentiments.

According to her, love always wins.

"Take a stand against the hate & anger!" she wrote.

"Share your love today!"

  Fresh off claims that Mel B has reportedly been intimidating a witness who is set to testify against her in court, the former Spice Girl has now been accused of asking another potential witness to lie about being raped by Stephen Belafonte.

A 22-year-old student has claimed that she regularly enjoyed threesomes with Mel and estranged husband Belafonte but that in recent days Mel called her and claimed that she would have to appear in court in two or three weeks.

She was then allegedly told by Mel that it was a legal requirement for her to appear in court and that Mel wanted her to testify that Belafonte raped her.

When she denied being raped, Mel reportedly then tried to pressure her into saying she was. Rapper Siya has also alleged that Mel sent her threatening messages warning her not to testify against her in court, according to TMZ.

The website claims that Siya – real name Michele Sherman – filed a police report regarding the alleged text messages, with law enforcement opening a felony investigation into Mel after seeing the texts.

Sherman – who stars on the reality show Sisterhood Of Hip-Hop – was set to testify in court against the Spice Girl in her trial with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte.

    Sherman, 30, was believed to be prepared to testify that Stephen, 42, didn't physically abuse his wife, and that Mel 'frequently used illegal drugs'.

TMZ claims that the rapper also was set to testify that Mel was the driving force behind threesomes with Stephen and Lorraine Gilles, the nanny the pair hired to look after their children.

Mel, 42, has accused Belafonte of domestic abuse throughout their 10-year marriage, while she has also accused him of having an affair with their nanny Lorraine Gilles and getting her pregnant. Belafonte denies these claims.

Gilles has become a major part in the case as Mel branded her a homewrecker but Gilles is now suing Mel for defamation, claiming that it was Mel who instigated the sex sessions.Mel has also requested that court documents from the court battle remain private to protect her children, but in a statement, she said she hoped the outcome would reveal the truth behind her relationship.

Belafonte has reportedly submitted a sex tape, allegedly filmed by Mel, as evidence in the court case. Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Mel for comment.

As though their star power could restore the electricity to storm-ravaged cities across the South, celebrities of all stripes gathered Tuesday evening for "Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief," which aired live on the major television networks and was streamed across various social media properties. George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Beyoncé, Julia Roberts, Drake, Luke Bryan, Cher, Tom Hanks — all of them spoke or performed (or at least sat behind a phone) on the hour-long telethon that featured virtually every A-list name in Hollywood, New York and Nashville.

Organized by music manager Scooter Braun (whose clients include Justin Bieber) and rapper Bun B (of the great Texas hip-hop duo UGK), "Hand in Hand" raised more than $14 million, according to a figure quoted by Billy Crystal, for victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. And that was before the special was broadcast on a tape delay for West Coast audiences.

Yet it was a star not featured on the show whose presence seemed to hover over it, and that was Kanye West, the polarizing MC who famously declared, "George Bush doesn't care about black people," on an earlier telethon dedicated to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Here, it was President Trump's controversial views on immigration and climate change that served as a surprising subtext for the standard do-gooder messaging and the calls for viewers to donate money to folks in desperate need.

Opening the show, Stevie Wonder introduced a typically ebullient rendition of "Lean on Me" by saying, "Anyone who believes there is no such thing as global warming must be blind" — wink, wink — "or unintelligent."

Beyoncé, a Houston native, delivered a video message in which she described the recent natural disasters as a cruel pile-on at a moment when "violence and racism in this country" have led many to think that "it couldn't possibly get worse."

And Braun was almost certainly aiming at Trump when he referred to the "images of hate and division" he said we're bombarded with these days — hate, he added, that runs counter to an American ideal.

Not everything on "Hand in Hand" had such an edge. There were kindly performances by Usher and Blake Shelton, who joined forces for a tender "Stand By Me"; Dave Matthews, who did a hushed "Mercy"; and the appealingly unruly quartet of Brad Paisley, Demi Lovato, Darius Rucker and CeCe Winans, who romped through "With a Little Help from My Friends" at the Grand Ole Opry.

The telethon closed with another friendly group effort: George Strait leading Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton, among other country acts, through his proud tribute to the Lone Star State, "Texas." But Braun seemed to get in one more jab by having Luis Fonsi — whose smash "Despacito" remix achieved Braun's goal of a Spanish-language song hitting No. 1 in Trump's time — join his client Tori Kelly for a passionate run through Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." It was a call to action disguised as a prayer for healing.
