Academic Vocabulary for Essays & IELTS Writing: 15 cause and effect POWER VERBS - Duration: 15:32.

Hey, everyone.

I'm Alex.

Thanks for clicking, and welcome to this lesson on cause and effect verbs.

So, this is an academic writing lesson.

In this lesson, you will learn some advanced vocabulary, specifically verbs, that you can

use in your high school or university essays; or if you are an English student who is taking

the IELTS or the TOEFL, you can use these verbs to really level up your writing in your

writing tasks on those tests.

Okay?

Now, if you are a writer of another sort; if you are an essayist, a fiction writer,

a non-fiction writer, or you want to be a writer in the future - it never hurts to have

more vocabulary, to have more power verbs in your arsenal.

So, what we're going to do today is improve your vocabulary for your writing and really

make your writing that much stronger.

So, I'm going to put this down, and let's start looking at some verbs.

Specifically, we are going to look at some effect verbs first.

So, when you think of "effect", you think of the result of something.

So, we have the verbs: "cause", "produce"; and we have verb phrases, like: "lead to",

"result in"; and we have: "create", "bring about", "give rise to", and "be responsible for".

So, these are all formal verbs, and these will definitely formalize your writing; specifically

your essays.

So, for example: "cause" - very direct.

Right?

So: "The 2008 financial crisis caused several problems for multinational banks."

So, this crisis caused these things to happen.

All right?

Let's continue with: "produce". Okay?

So, to produce, create, cause.

"The medication did not produce the desired effect."

So, the medication was supposed to numb the pain, but it didn't do this.

It didn't produce the desired effect.

So, again, "to produce", think of it in the same family of words as: "cause", "produce",

and "create", which we'll see a little bit later on.

Next we have: "lead to".

So, if something leads to something else, this means that it causes the next step to happen.

So, the next step is the effect.

So, for example: "Several international incidents led to World War II."

So, we're talking about international events, international incidents that led to - gave

the cause for World War II.

So, if something leads to something else, you know, you do this thing which causes this

thing, so the effect is here.

One thing leads to or causes another thing.

"Result in" - very straightforward, I think.

So, "result in": "The earthquake resulted in thousands of deaths."

The effect of the earthquake; the result of the earthquake.

So: "The earthquake resulted in thousands of deaths."

Later we'll look at "a result of", so that will be for cause; but for effect, you can

say: "result in".

What was the result?

It resulted in blank; in something.

"Create".

I think everyone is familiar with the verb "create".

If you're not, here we go.

"The increasing rate of crime is creating numerous issues", numerous problems.

So, it's making problems, creating problems, causing problems.

So, the effect is that there are numerous problems now because of this.

"Bring about".

So, if something brings about something else, it kind of brings it-right?-into effect.

So: "The new regime"-the new political party, the new political regime-"brought about stricter

laws".

So, imagine there was an election and there is a new political regime, and with them they

are bringing new laws, so they brought about new laws; they caused new laws to happen.

The effect of the political regime are these stricter laws.

Okay?

Next: "give rise to".

If something gives rise to something else, it means that the initial cause creates the

conditions necessary for the effect to happen.

Okay?

Got that?

Okay, let's look at the example.

So: "The election result gave rise to public protests."

So, we have the election result, and: Uh-oh, now the condition is instability in the public

because maybe the public is not happy with the results of the election.

So, it creates the necessary conditions for the public protests.

So, the election gave rise to; allowed the political protests to happen, the public protests

to happen.

Okay?

And: "be responsible for".

I think this one is self-explanatory, so, here we go: "No one knows who was responsible

for the vandalism."

So, no one knows who did the vandalism; the, basically graffiti, maybe around the bank

or some kind of public place. Okay?

So: Who was responsible for?

You can talk about, you know, these effects and these effect verbs in a variety of contexts.

So, here you have stuff like World War II, the economic crisis, rising rates of crime,

vandalism, public protests, elections.

So, these are probably the types of topics you will see if you are writing a high school

essay, or if you're writing a university essay.

Even if you're not, somewhere in your essay you're probably going to talk about something

that caused something else, or you're going to talk about the effect of one action and

what the reaction of that was.

So, these verbs will help you to talk about that reaction.

Okay?

So, now, let's look at some other verbs that you can use to talk about the causes of things.

All right?

So, I'm going to walk to the other board.

Follow me.

Okay, so here we go with the cause verbs.

Now, if you notice, some of these are similar to the effect verbs, but they are the effect

verbs in their passive forms.

So, let's look at what I mean.

Here we have: "be caused by", "be produced by", "be brought about by".

Okay?

So, we've seen these in the effect verbs board before this, and now we're going to use them

to talk about cause.

So, "be caused by", for example: "The government collapse was caused by the implementation

of unpopular policies."

So, you want to say that the unpopular policies caused the government collapse, or you can

say: "The government collapse was caused by the implementation of unpopular policies."

Okay?

So, you can say this in two ways; you can say it in the effect way where you really

emphasize the effect, so the government collapse is the effect, and the cause of the collapse

is that they implemented unpopular policies.

So, if you want to emphasize the government collapse, like here, put it first, use the

passive form, use the cause: "was caused by"; if you want to emphasize the implementation

of unpopular policies caused the government collapse, you can put that first.

So, it really depends what you want to stress in your sentence.

Okay?

All right, next: "be produced by".

So: "The vast majority of air pollution in Europe is produced by fertilizers and animal

waste."

So, is caused by, is produced by fertilizers and animal waste.

So, again: "The fertilizers and animal waste produce the vast majority of air pollution

in Europe."

Here, we just flipped it to focus on the cause, so: "The vast majority of air pollution in

Europe is produced by fertilizers and animal waste."

This is the cause, and the effect is the air pollution, basically.

Air pollution is the effect of fertilizers and animal waste.

Next, we have: "be brought about by".

So, you saw "bring about"; now it's: "to be brought about by", the passive form.

"Major economic benefits could be brought about by the adoption of solar roofs."

Okay?

So, the argument is if you have a solar roof, within a few years, you're going to be saving

thousands of dollars.

So, here: "Major economic benefits could be brought about by".

Basically, if we have solar roofs, the solar roofs will bring economic benefits.

Okay?

They will bring about economic benefits with them.

Next: "result from", not "result in".

So: "Many benefits quickly result from exercise."

So, if you exercise, this is the cause; the effect is, well, many benefits, really - better

health, better energy, and longer life.

Ideally longer life, unless there's an accident, obviously.

So, next we have: "stem from".

And these two - if your teacher or your evaluator sees you using either of these two: "stem

from", "be triggered by", they will love you.

Okay?

So, memorize these two especially, because they are quite advanced and they're lovely.

They sound wonderful when they're in an essay format.

So: "stem".

What is a "stem"?

Think of a flower, so you have the stem of the flower, and on the top you have the petals,

you have the flower itself.

Right?

So, the stem leads to the flower.

So, if something stems from something, like, for example, here: "Most of our early beliefs

stem from our parents"...

So think of, like, your beliefs are the flower on the top-right?-and what causes that flower?

Before you have the flower, the stem has to grow.

So, your beliefs are here, and they stem from your parents; your parents are basically causing

your beliefs when you're a child.

Right?

So, when you're a kid, who gives you your beliefs, who tells you what to believe?

Usually it's your parents guiding you in your belief system.

So, if something stems from something else, it is caused by something.

All right?

And, finally: "be trigged by".

So, if something triggers something else, it literally means it causes it to happen.

Okay?

So: "World War I" - this could be any high school essay.

"World War I was triggered by", it's like...

This is, like, the root cause.

Okay?

This was, like, the cause.

"World War I was triggered by the assassination of the Arch Duke Ferdinand."

Now, if you're a history major and you're thinking: "No!

There were many more things, and this wasn't it.

This was just one little thing", it's an example.

I'm really focusing on just the use of these verbs and verb phrases, so "was triggered

by".

So, think of a gun, and a gun has a trigger - when you pull the trigger, the bullet goes.

Okay?

So, what was the bullet that caused this thing?

Okay?

What caused the bullet to fly?

In this case, the bullet being...

The beginning of World War I is the bullet, the trigger is the assassination of Arch Duke

Ferdinand.

That pulled the trigger that allowed the bullet to fly towards the beginning of World War I.

So, we have: "be caused by", "be produced by", "be brought about by", "result from",

"stem from", "be triggered by", as well as the wealth of effect verbs on the previous board.

Gunhoo vs Bentley. Let's see who eats more! [The Return of Superman/2018.11.04] - Duration: 11:47.

(Uncle, eat first.)

My goodness. She feeds Uncle first.

- It's tasty. / - Sunghoon's daughter

is all grown up.

Naeun must remind him

- of the old days. / - That's right.

I want it.

(Siha eats squid.)

The kids are eating well.

(You didn't forget about us, did you?)

(Let's dig in!)

They are friendly again.

- There you go. / - They made up.

Let's see who eats more.

He will eat the most amount of food.

Although he is only 10 months old,

Bentley's passion for food

and concentration are unrivaled.

(Nothing is impossible for Bentley.)

Gunhoo is a 13-month-old food fighter.

He doesn't let go of food he grabs.

Their eating match begins now.

It's tasty.

Gunhoo, are you okay?

- Wake up, Gunhoo. / - Food.

Food?

Try a piece each.

- Bentley. / - Bentley.

Here, Bentley. Open wide.

- Isn't it a lemon? / - Will they eat it first?

(The taste is electrifying.)

Yum, yum.

How cute!

He is like a doll. My gosh.

(How will Gunhoo react?)

(It's sour!)

That's the usual reaction.

- That's hilarious. / - Gunhoo, are you okay?

Gunhoo.

(This taste is new.)

(It's sour!)

Gunhoo, are you okay?

(Do you want to try it one more time?)

(I can't eat this!)

You don't want it?

(How can I eat this?)

(Friend, don't you think so?)

(He continues to eat.)

Relatively, I think Bentley adapted

- to lemons quicker. / - Is that so?

(He can't help but clap.)

He's eating well.

(This is easy.)

(Should I also try it?)

It's sour.

(He's surprised.)

Are you okay?

(Brother, how can you eat this?)

- William, is it good? / - No.

- Take this. / - Do you want some more?

Bentley, take this.

The second round is corn.

(Savory steamed corn)

- First... / - He doesn't mind it.

(He takes a bite.)

(He's slightly cautious.)

(He carefully takes a bite.)

Take a bite.

(It's nice!)

(He starts chewing.)

Does it taste good?

(He gulps down the food.)

This is it, right?

You think this is it, right?

(This was the taste I was looking for!)

(The two foodies eat shrewdly.)

(He even has the composure to give his dad a bite.)

(Bentley, give me a bite too.)

(I'm sorry, but I can't give you anything to eat.)

(Gunhoo gives a thumbs up.)

(I actually gave it to him because he's my dad.)

(That's why, right?)

(This corn is really good.)

(Does that taste better?)

(Give me some of that.)

William, try the corn.

(He takes it away.)

He dropped it!

He looks devastated.

- You did that, right? / - Did he take it away?

You did that, right?

- You stole that, right? / - Did he take it away?

Here.

It's here.

Gunhoo, I'm sorry.

William, you should discipline them.

(He stops crying after receiving corn again.)

(Peace has come again.)

(He takes a full spoon with ambition.)

(He eats it with his hands while he spoons it.)

(I'm not going lose at eating shows!)

Why?

(He cries.)

Isn't your dad looking at you?

Did you do something again?

(Gunhoo is looking at Bentley's direction.)

- Did you do something? / - Did he do something?

(He pretends to know nothing.)

William, look.

(He was having a good time eating the corn earlier.)

(Is that also good?)

(I'll just have a taste.)

"Who are you?"

(Just give it to me once.)

(He cries sadly.)

- Why? / - He's smiling. How cute.

- Why? / - He's really cute.

- Isn't Dad looking? / - Did you do something?

(He pretends to know nothing.)

- He can't do that. / - Are you finished?

He's surprised because he lost it once to him.

(He's cautious.)

- He was just curious. / - That's right.

(I'm sorry!)

Gunhoo, open your mouth.

(Eat crab meat and ease yourself.)

Open your mouth.

(I like him.)

(Naeun fell in love with the potatoes.)

Okay. It's good, right?

(Chewing)

It's finally the last match.

(The two foodies are waiting reverently.)

(He's serious.)

(The look in his eyes are full of confidence.)

Take an octopus leg each. Here.

(The final challenge, octopus legs)

Put your spoon down and take an octopus leg each.

It will be a match of who will eat it first.

Take an octopus leg each.

(This doesn't suit my taste!)

Gunhoo is rejecting the octopus leg.

(The eating player finally threw the towel in.)

(What about Bentley?)

(Bentley is beaming.)

(Let's have a taste.)

(He eats it.)

He's eating octopus legs with his hands.

(You're amazing!)

Here. Bentley is eating whatever is in his hands.

He's the last man standing.

He's the final player.

(I'm going to bite it off no matter what!)

He bit it off!

He's also surprised.

I thought you were shooting "Oldboy".

(Who are you?)

You have to change your name to Choi Minsik.

- Are you full? / - Yes.

(The Bongs are done with eating first.)

Do you want to go somewhere? Where?

(Naeun is done with eating next.)

(Gunhoo is done with eating.)

(Only these two are left.)

Bentley, you're amazing.

You're not done yet, right?

You knocked down all of the older children.

(I'm still hungry.)

You win!

(He became the youngest eating boss!)

This rice.

(It translates to "I'll eat all of this rice.")

You also ate a lot.

Yes.

(This is a piece of cake.)

It's in the blood of the Hammingtons to eat well.

Look, you're brothers.

(The reputable family of eating, the Hammingtons)

You're the eating show brothers.

What did I tell you our family motto was?

"It will taste good if you eat it together."

"It tastes good if we eat together."

(The first night of Jeju Island wore on like this.)

(They came back to Beijing Airport after seven hours.)

Dad, run!

- We have to run! / - We're late.

They only have one flight a day.

Hurry! How many minutes do we have left?

- Hurry! / - What?

We need to go to Mount Paektu.

- They can't miss it. / - Look here.

Look here.

Let's go to Mount Paektu!

Good job. Let's do it together.

One, two, three.

Let's go to Mount Paektu!

Good job. Let's go.

They arrived at Changbaishan Airport

after flying two hours from Beijing Airport.

(Changbaishan Airport)

Who knows where this is?

Mount Paektu!

We're underneath Mount Paektu.

That's the answer. I'll give you 100 points.

Lee Hwijae is emceeing over there too.

Do you know how long it took to come here?

We gathered at 7 a.m.,

had a two-hour flight,

stayed nine hours in Beijing,

and had another two-hour flight to come here.

We arrived after 15 hours.

- We finally arrived! / - We finally arrived!

- All right! / - All right!

It took them 15 hours.

We arrived after going through a lot of trouble.

Give a big round of applause to the kids.

(Self-applause time)

Ko Seungjae, Lee Seoeon, Lee Seojun and

Lee Sian went through a lot of trouble.

Sian is sprawled out.

He can't get up.

Are you sure he's Lee Donggook's son?

Are you sure you're Lee Donggook's son?

He sleeps like a baby.

(What?)

(Laughing)

Seungjae, you're also the same when you sleep.

(Do I really sleep like that?)

I hope we can see Heaven Lake clearly tomorrow.

Please don't make it rain.

(They wish earnestly to see Heaven Lake.)

Please let us see Heaven Lake clearly.

Please let us meet a kind tiger.

Seungjae, isn't it cold here?

- I'm cold. / - You should dress warmly.

We can go tomorrow if you sleep well tonight.

Let's go now.

Mount!

Paek!

Tu!

- We can do it! / - We can do it!

(However)

The weather was unusual all day.

And it started to rain.

What will they do? They went through so much.

Can we see Heaven Lake tomorrow?

I'm nervous that it also might rain tomorrow.

It shouldn't rain.

I'm really unlucky when it comes to weather.

I even have a nickname.

"The man who brings rain."

I bring rain often.

I was worried that I was the cause.

We're in trouble. We're really in trouble.

It took us over 19 hours to get there.

But we can't see Heaven Lake?

(They might not see Heaven Lake in this situation.)

I didn't know what to do.

What if it rains too tomorrow?

No, there will be a twist.

We came here with the will to see Heaven Lake.

Seungjae and Seoeon, you must remember this.

The journey to Mount Paektu wasn't easy,

but being able to see Heaven Lake is harder

since it's clear for only 40 days out of 365 days.

I hope the weather will be clear

as the children's wish.

- We're here! / - We're here!

They finally arrived at the base camp

before climbing Mount Paektu.

(Welcome. Isn't it your first time here?)

This is where they will stay.

(Nine hours before climbing Mount Paektu)

(What are their rooms like?)

(They look around.)

(This is amazing!)

- This is amazing! / - Isn't that right?

(The bed is soft.)

(The twins check their bedroom.)

Why? Is Sian sleeping?

Yes, Sian is sleeping.

Sian, good night.

- But... / - They'll all wake up.

(Everyone gathered in the living room.)

- Gosh. / - They must be exhausted.

- They were on a plane two times. / - Diving!

- Look at him. / - Gosh.

They have amazing stamina.

(He dances in his underwear.)

Are you guys

(Current time, 12 a.m.)

not tired?

- Let's sleep. / - Aren't you sleepy?

- Aren't you tired? / - No.

How come?

(They're screaming.)

(It's because we have tops.)

Go, shoot!

Go, shoot!

They're saying, "Go, shoot!"

We hear this from our boy every day.

Seungjae also does this.

It's about to die!

- He's about to die. / - Is he okay?

Aren't you going to Mount Paektu tomorrow?

Don't tell me you're tired when we go there tomorrow.

Why PewDiePie Doesn't Stand A Chance Against T-Series | BuzzFeed India - Duration: 4:46.

In 2013, Swedish YouTuber Felix Kjellberg aka PewDiePie

became the most-subscribed user on YouTube ever.

Now, considering the channel was just one dude and a webcam,

I'd say that's pretty impressive.

And even more so that he held on to the title for as long as he did.

For years, it seemed like no one would be able to catch up to him.

And then, in December 2015, everything changed.

Mukesh Ambani decided that India's internet landscape needed

a major level-up.

And so, he launched Reliance Jio.

He practically gave away free data for anybody willing to be on his network.

It's actually pretty crazy how fast Jio was and how dirt cheap the prices were.

And well, us being suckers for freebies, gobbled it up.

Like a billionaire broadband Santa, Ambani brought glee and 4G

to the lives of millions of people.

That's 100 million Indians, who were experiencing high-speed internet

for the first time ever.

And, what did they use it for?

That's right.

We... I... I mean... We watched porn. We used it for porn.

2017 actually saw a 1000% rise from 2016, for the search term

"Indian HD" on PornHub.

That's right. No more standard definition bullshit.

We damn right want our porn to be 1080p.

But how much porn can one watch?

The limit does not exist.

The limit does not exist.

Well yeah... But we did need to take a break from time to time,

and so another site saw a huge boost from Jio's launch,

and that site was YouTube.

With the power of 4G behind them, these new Indian netizens

were hungry for content.

But while this may have been new online, their consumption habits

were literally, exactly the same as they were offline.

Despite having an ocean of entertainment at their fingertips,

it turned out all they literally wanted was more Bollywood in their lives.

And who has the biggest library of Bollywood content on the internet?

You guessed it. It's the T-Series YouTube channel.

From music videos to trailers, to well... entire films...

Not only that, but T-Series also has various Tollywood and Kollywood playlists.

Yeah, T-Series has everything on their page.

But in its first ten years from 2006-2016,

the channel only gained 14.4 million subscribers.

However, now owing to the surplus of new customers,

in just two years, its added more than 50 million subscribers.

In fact, according to Social Blade, T-Series gains an average of

150,000 subscribers per day.

And they're projected to have over 86 million subscribers within the next year.

Now, it should be said that literally nothing has changed in their strategy.

But what has changed is now they have a bridge to reach

that massive, massive audience.

And that was all made available because of Jio's cheap internet.

Now, let's get back to PewDiePie.

As T-Series started getting more and more subscribers,

he started getting more and more annoyed

that this Indian channel is challenging him for the title.

So, over the past few months, YouTube has been this kind of weird battleground

where it's T-Series vs. PewDiePie, and then T-Series fans vs. PewDiePie fans,

and it's all just bonkers.

I mean, people are literally picking sides.

There are even live trackers dedicated to just this feud.

You heard me right, I said trackers. Like multiple trackers.

One dude actually bought billboards to urge people to help PewDiePie retain his title.

So, I get it. PewDiePie has built this army of followers over the years,

and I guess a lot of people don't want to see a corporate entity

as the most subscribed YouTube channel.

But here's the thing, PewDiePie is just one dude making funny videos,

and sure, it's super impressive and super commendable.

But T-Series boasts a roster of massive, massive artists like

Honey Singh, Guru Randhawa, A.R. Rahman, and many more.

They legit own the rights to some of Bollywood's biggest hits of all time.

I mean, just look at these views, it's like... what?

And to top it off, they upload new videos exponentially faster than PewDiePie.

In fact, forget T-Series. Other entertainment channels like SET India

are also adding subscribers at double the rate that PewDiePie is.

At this rate, he's going to need a lot more people putting up a lot more billboards.

See, right now there are diss tracks, there are the aforementioned billboards,

and PewDiePie has also put up videos, urging his fans to help him out,

which is kinda strange, but whatever...

You're going up against a billion Indians who are hungry for content.

Honestly, it's not much of a contest.

It's like asking Aditya from my childhood gully cricket team

to bowl out Virat Kohli.

I guess Aditya was a decent enough player and he was well liked,

but it's Virat Kohli!

It was a noble fight.

But as every Indian indie filmmaker has come to realise over the years,

you just can't beat Bollywood masala.

Ever.

You just can't.

DRUGSTORE MAGNETIC LASHES... DO THEY WORK? - Duration: 8:47.

hello gorgeous welcome back to my Channel today I am testing out I'm doing

another one what did I call it before hot or not no it wasn't hot or not well

is it worth it can you work it that's what it was I knew one of those today

but I'm talking about magnetic lashes so I didn't realize that there was a whole

bunch of hype about these until I saw these at one of my local beauty supply

stores went in picked them up and then I was like well I saw them and I was like

these sound really fun the idea of wearing false eyelashes without the glue

the glue is the worst part let's be honest I'm pretty good at applying fake

lashes like I can get them on really quick my problem is the glue afterwards

getting them off of my real lashes it's such a pain in the butt

but anyways I saw these I was like these would be really fun so I came home I

looked them up and I was blown away with by how many youtubers have done reviews

tutorials just everything on them so I was like you know what I'm gonna do it

myself so that's what I'm gonna do today I'm

gonna test him out for the first time this box has not been opened these are

the art Dell magnetic lashes they're double whispies and it looks like when I

looked at these and the star I was like oh there's two pairs that's cool because

there were $14 which normally that's really high for drugstore lashes but

then I realized no duh it's one pair because you had an upper and a lower

they're magnetic so you have to snap them together so let's go ahead and get

right into it I'm gonna show you how to apply them well we're gonna learn

together actually so I chose to go with the full lash band as you can see they

make the partial which is just you know like the the flick up for the end so

it's like maybe half to 3/4 band I didn't know going into this that the

that was the preferred one after watching much of YouTube videos so as

you can see I went with the full lash band and along the lash band are little

squares those are magnets and that's how they connect the upper to the lower lash

line or lash band I should say so they just connect just like that did you see

how quickly they snap together a lot of well so I won't let the full lash band

because that's I like to wear I don't typically ever

wear the end pieces but from what I've been seeing all over YouTube is that

most youtubers prefer the ones that are just the like 1/2 to 3/4 length one that

like it's the accent one is what is what it is but I didn't go with that I want

the long one so I'm gonna get a pair of tweezers here and we're gonna try this

out together for the first time so I'm taking

tweezers right in the middle of the lash band just like I would my regular lashes

and I'm gonna drop them on to my lash line so I do have on one coat of mascara

everything I saw says that you need to oh my gosh this is much harder than I

thought it was gonna be Wow Wow this is a Pinterest fail let's try it again it's

like you need an extra set of hands to do this so they literally snapped on

their own now from a distance they look pretty good but as soon as I close my

eye you can see they're off they're hanging off the edge there and there but

they're connected in the middle pretty close not not amazing but pretty close

so I'm gonna try to get back in there and reattach the corners so that they

are oh that's actually a smart hack the metal from the tweezer pulled it right

away from the other one okay that's cool good to know good to know okay so we're

gonna try this again it's hard because you want this to be as close as you can

to your lash line but then your mascara kind of gets in the way okay so final

verdict I actually even had Matt come over and try to help with the bottom

like the end not the bottom the end I think from a distance they look pretty

good but then when you get up on my eye and you see that that's not attached

right there that was a huge pet peeve of mine I was able to get it attached on

the inside corner like pretty seamlessly and without it wasn't really terribly

hard but over here I cannot for the life of me get it attached so that's pretty

annoying so I think what I'm gonna do is destroy the other pair uh-huh I mean if

I destroy I mean cut them and see how that works so give me a second we're

gonna see if that because I've actually in my eyelash my false eyelash tutorial

I think it was where I like to take lash bands and cut them in threes because I

think that it allows to space it out even more evenly for your eye because

not everybody is the same I shape or I length or I with or whatever you want to

say so I'm gonna kind of follow that same concept for these so typically I

would cut lash band into threes but these are designed a little uniquely and

that there's two magnets but there's not one in the middle let's end and and then

a little bit over and then the middle is empty so I cut them directly in the

middle because had I cut them according to the movie magnets it would have it

wouldn't it would be weird so anyways let's try this again so we're going

we're gonna do this eye over here so I'm doing the upper and then I'm gonna do

the two pieces individually and see how that works

okay so that was better than I thought let's try the middle at this inside

piece now I pulled over the eye I feel like Joe Pesci from I did it

again haha I feel like Joe Pesci and home

alone we said your foot your front foot your point that's what I feel like right

now man I pulled myself and then like two times in a row

yeah I gotta stop and let my eyes stop watering annoying alright that was a lot

of work guys I'm not gonna lie I actually think that regular lashes with

glue or easier I feel like maybe if I got used to doing these more often it

would come a little bit easier to me but um yeah it's just not it's not it's not

as easy as it looks ok so this is the eye that I cut the bottom one in half

and honestly it's still not to my lashline on on the inside on the top

either so that's irritating from a distance

I think it looks fine it would totally pass and and like nobody would question

it but when you get up on my face and start talking to me like they're totally

not lash line and that's janky I mean let's

be honest that just looks janky so I think if I sat here and futzed around

with them for a while I could probably get them to look pretty good but with

all that time that I'm putting into them why don't I just glue a pair of freaking

lashes and slap them on my face you know what I mean

so I don't feel like the hack of cutting the bottom ones really made that much of

a difference and I saw so many videos of saying like this hack works it changes

everything about listen I'm really good with false lashes like I'll Pat myself

on the back with that like I can I can put on false lashes like seamlessly on

my on my lids on my lashes um really quickly but this is janky just like it's

janky I don't know I don't know what do you guys think have you tried them do

you like them I feel like from here I'm looking at my monitor which is below the

camera that's why people came down this I looks like more like whatever in the

corner this woman she that's never good that they're not even consistent like

that but the edges like more flared out

this one just looks weird this one doesn't look terrible I feel

like I just need to mess with this one more to make it look like that but from

a distance I feel like it looks okay right like maybe even pretty good but

then when you get in close and you see that lash line it's just like womp womp

alright guys what do you think would you try them out are they worth 14 bucks no

the answer is no and have you tried them have you had better luck than me I'm

gonna when I stop rolling here I'm gonna keep messing with them and see if I can

get them to look better but as of right now I don't know um I just not a fan but

let me know in the comments below what you think let me also know what video

you and see for me next don't forget to visit me on my blog angelo intercom and

thank you guys so much for watching I love you all so much

Problem Solving V Continuous Improvement - Duration: 2:08.

You'll find that there's a lot of talk about problems when you're doing a

Process Improvement exercise and then there's also this talk about continuous

improvement so I just wanted to go through a little bit about the

difference between problem-solving versus continuous improvement. If you

think about your current standard being at this level here, problem solving is

when you're on that particular element operating below the standard that you

expect and the gap between the standard you expect and the standard you're

currently achieving is the gap that you need to problem solve

so that's lifting up the standard back to where you expect it that's problem

solving when you're talking about continuous improvement you're at a level

that you're currently fairly happy with it might not be perfect because we don't

expect that remembering that 80/20 rule where you know we're working on the 80%

but you're fairly happy that that's our current standard. Continuous Improvement

is about how can we consistently deliver either by quality time or budget a

better standard than we have previously and then how can we lift that to be the

new current standard and make sure that everyone understands that and it's

managed and controlled effectively so the difference doing problem solving and

continuous improvement is that problem solving is the approach we're going to

take to manage or overcome the issues that are stopping us achieving a goal

continuous improvement are the steps we're going to take to do even better

than before consistently

New Diagnosis: I'm Autistic - Duration: 11:40.

[Music]

Hey Loves, it's Mahala. Welcome to my channel where I like to talk about

living life with chronic illness. If you're new here, welcome. Be sure to hit that

subscribe button for more videos like this and let's get into it.

As the title of this video suggests, I'm here to talk about some big news that I've discovered lately.

*Deep Breath & Giggles*

I am autistic.

I've told a handful of people that are close to me, but

there's still a lot of people that don't know . . . Well, you know now.

Anyway, sitting down to make this video felt like the easiest way to share.

I hope none of you mind finding out this way. This may come as a surprise to some

of you, especially if you're not aware of how autism presents and females and if

you don't spend a lot of time around me. But for those of you who are educated on

autism, this might make a lot of sense. I know there's been a few people in my

life who have actually wondered if I've been on the spectrum, and I guess the

answer is yes. Anyways, this is something I've spent a lot of time trying to

decide if I wanted to share about it or not. I don't want people to treat me

differently and it's not really a big deal, but I feel like I'm not being true

to my authentic self by holding it in. And I know it's possible that this

information can help some people understand me better. Additionally,

there's a high amount of incorrect information out there and a lot of

stigma surrounding autism. That's part of the reason why I was so hesitant to

share in the first place. But I've never really been one to shy

away from adversity or stigma, so I didn't think I should start now.

I personally believe that you should be the change you want to see in the world,

and that we all have the capacity to truly make a difference and change the

world for the better. What better place to start than sharing our own unique,

individual stories? So here I am, sharing that I'm on the autism spectrum.

I don't fit the typical mold that most people think of, when they think of autism. I may

not look or seem autistic to you. And if that's the case, I'm glad you're watching this video.

I'm glad that you're listening and learning. With that said,

I totally respect other people's decisions not to share their diagnosis, if that's

what feels right for them. I think everyone should do what feels best.

But for me, sharing feels like the right choice, and it tends to help me move

along on the path to accepting things. So, you might be wondering how all of this

came about. Why wasn't this caught when I was growing up, at a younger age?

It's actually quite common for women to slip between the cracks when it comes to

autism spectrum disorder. Females present differently than males. And for the

longest time, they believed that autism, or maybe it was Asperger's - which is

not a term anymore that's used; it's just all autism spectrum disorder now - but I

remember that one or both, it was thought that it could only occur in males.

So for the longest time most of the research was centered around males on the spectrum.

So a lot of women, went through the cracks, got misdiagnosed, or just

living undiagnosed. So, it's not uncommon for women on the spectrum to get

diagnosed later in life. I first began learning about ASD or autism spectrum

disorder, earlier this spring. I came across a post in an EDS group,

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which I also have, and the post was asking about

sensory processing problems and ways to cope. I was going to suggest some things

that I do to cope, when I was reading through the comments and I saw one

comment that talked about how Autism usually goes undiagnosed in females,

how it presents differently, and how there is actually an association between Autism

and EDS. There is some research out there now, but we definitely need more research.

And we don't quite know how it's all connected yet, but there does seem to be

a high prevalence of people with EDS and Autism. So I came across this comment,

and the person had included lots of articles, and lots of resources, even some online

evaluations that you can take that had like 200 questions. I read the very first

article and it was actually so parallel to my experience growing up, over the

years, that I cried . . . and immediately started researching further.

I took a couple of the online assessments, which suggested that I may be on the spectrum

and that I should be evaluated, but at that point in time - it was right before

my neurosurgery - and it wasn't really on the top of my list of problems. *laughter*

Ya know, I was more focused on like trying to stay alive and all that stuff. *laughter*

So I wasn't really interested in pursuing a diagnosis at that time.

However, following my neurosurgery, I began to have greater problems regulating my emotions, and I

started having more and more meltdowns, so at that point, I knew I needed some additional help.

I researched some doctors, made an appointment with one of

them, and started the evaluation process. There were a lot of assessments

and interviews involved. My mother, father, and Nick - which is my long-term partner -

were all involved in the evaluation process. So after all that evaluation,

several visits, and even more, I was finally diagnosed mid-October.

Prior to this diagnosis, I had been diagnosed with lots of other mental health issues. I was

diagnosed with Anxiety, Depression, Panic Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, PTSD, ADD,

and told that I have OCD tendencies. They nearly diagnosed me with Borderline

Personality Disorder, when I was in the hospital for my TBI, but they seemed a

little unsure of the diagnosis, and they asked me what I thought about it, and at

that time, I didn't even remember speaking to a psychiatrist. So I was like,

'what are you talking about?' like 'what did I even say? I don't remember any of this.'

So, they're kind of like. 'yeah, I mean you're on lots of meds, and you just had

a brain injury. It's probably not the right time to diagnose a personality

disorder, when you're not in your right personality.' So, that's good.

As it turns out a, lot of people, a lot of women on the autism spectrum, are actually

misdiagnosed with Borderline. When I was diagnosed, my doctor explained that for

me, Autism really is at the center of these other issues. Like, most of my

anxiety and depression, problems adjusting, and panic attacks - which were

really more like meltdowns from over stimulation and being overwhelmed . . .

Most of those things, and the OCD tendencies, are really for me, they fall under Autism.

And are, more or less, from it - most of the time. In other words, I'm depressed

and anxious from trying to live in a neurotypical world that wasn't designed

for me and doesn't understand me, and the panic attacks were really just meltdowns

from being overwhelmed, overstimulated having trouble regulating my emotions,

and things like that - which all falls under Autism.

My difficulties adjusting to change, hence Adjustment Disorder, is another

feature of Autism. And my OCD tendencies really just come out when I'm

overwhelmed and having a hard time adjusting to change, so it all kind of

ties back for me. My PTSD, though, is definitely a separate

beast, but that's a whole other story. In conclusion, this diagnosis makes a lot

more sense. And I finally feel like I'm on the right track to learning how to

cope better, and learning why I feel the things I feel, and etc.

Autism is a developmental difference characterized by social, communication, and sensory

difficulties. I'm not sure if I'm forgetting another thing . . .

Hopefully not. Basically, the brain is just wired in a different way than . . .

neurotypical brains. It's not something that I'll grow out of, or be cured from,

it just simply is what it is. And there are definitely some pros to

being on the spectrum too. I may do a separate video on that and on additional

Autism topics in the future. I've considered doing a Q&A video too.

So please leave any questions in the comments, or send them through messenger,

or however you want to get them to me, and I will do my best to answer them

either in a Q&A or even a separate video, if it's kind of a longer topic.

So yeah, everything's pretty new and I'm still learning a lot, but . . . I am happy to . . .

at least be on the right track with all of this. Thanks for watching this video

and thanks in advance for all of your love and support. If you like this video

be sure to give it a thumbs up, and subscribe for more videos.

I'll see you guys next time.

Casual Affair | Cover | Ukulele Cat - Duration: 2:59.

Hey, a casual affair that could go anywhere and only for tonight.

Take any moment any time; a lover on the left, a sinner on the right.

Lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Hush, hush, and don't you say a word) Lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Whoa-oh) Break involuntary ties.

A secret so the spies could never find us out.

Stay for as long as you have time so the mess that we'll become leaves something to talk

about.

Just lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Hush, hush, and don't you say a word) Lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Whoa-oh) (I did it, I did it, I did it again.

I did it, I did it, I did it again.

I did it, I did it, I did it again.

I did it, I did it, I did it again.)

Lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Hush, hush, and don't you say a word) Lay in the atmosphere.

A casual affair.

(Whoa-oh)
