The National Monday, November 19, 2018 — St. Michael's Charges, Canada Post, Medication Shortage - Duration: 45:21.>> Adrienne: ON THIS MONDAY
NIGHT --
>> THE SIX BOYS ARRESTED TODAY
HAVE EACH BEEN CHARGED WITH
ASSAULT, GANG SEXUAL ASSAULT,
AND SEXUAL ASSAULT WITH A
WEAPON.
>> Adrienne: CRIMINAL CHARGES
AND A DEEPENING CRISIS AT A
PRIVATE BOYS SCHOOL IN TORONTO.
WHY DIDN'T MORE PEOPLE COME
FORWARD AFTER SEEING A VIDEO OF
WHAT HAPPENED?
>> THIS IS OUR BIGGEST WEEK, BUT
WE HAVE OUR BIGGEST DAYS OF THE
YEAR DURING THIS PERIOD.
>> Ian: CRUNCH TIME IN THE
CANADA POST DISPUTE WITH
UNDELIVERED PACKAGES PILING UP.
WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS FOR
RETAILERS AND CONSUMERS?
>> Adrienne: AND A SHORTAGE OF A
COMMON ANTIDEPRESSANT HAS
DOCTORS AND PATIENTS TAKING
DRASTIC MEASURES.
THIS IS "THE NATIONAL."
*
AT ST. MICHAEL'S COLLEGE SCHOOL,
FIRST IT WAS RUMOURS AND A VIDEO
SWIRLING ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND
THEN CAME THE EXPULSIONS.
NOW IT'S CRIMINAL CHARGES.
THE DISTURBING ALLEGATIONS OF
STUDENT ASSAULT AT THE TORONTO
PRIVATE SCHOOL HAVE LED TO
CHARGES FOR SIX BOYS.
TONIGHT, "THE NATIONAL" SPEAKS
WITH STUDENTS, AN EXPERT, AND A
SURVIVOR OF A SIMILAR ASSAULT
ABOUT HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN, HOW
WIDESPREAD IT COULD BE.
BUT WE START WITH THE POLICE
ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY.
>> MORE THAN 50 WITNESSES HAVE
BEEN IDENTIFIED, AND MORE
INFORMATION COMES TO US DAILY.
>> Adrienne: THE LURID LITANY OF
CHARGES AGAINST THE SIX BOYS
TODAY WERE TIED TO JUST ONE
INCIDENT.
POLICE SAID TODAY THEY ARE
INVESTIGATING THREE OTHERS AND
THERE COULD BE MORE.
>> I CAN'T GET INTO WHAT'S
LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT, BUT
I DO BELIEVE THERE'S MORE VIDEOS
AND/OR MORE INCIDENTS.
>> Adrienne: THE INSPECTOR LEFT
OPEN THE POSSIBILITY OF CHILD
PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES FOR THOSE
STILL POSSESSING OR DISTRIBUTING
THE VIDEO THAT LED TO ALL THIS,
AND THEY LEFT OPEN THE
POSSIBILITY THAT THE SCHOOL
ADMINISTRATION COULD FACE
CONSEQUENCES FOR HOW IT HANDLED
THE SITUATION.
SO WE ARE WELL PAST THE MOMENT
OF SHOCKED IN ACTION, OF
CAUTIOUS ATTEMPTS TO GET A
HANDLE ON WHAT HAPPENED ONE
TIME.
WE ARE AT A DIFFERENT POINT NOW,
WHERE THE STORY SPIRALS.
OLIVIA STEFANOVICH TELLS US IT'S
NOT CLEAR WHERE ALL THIS STOPS.
>> Reporter: LITTLE CONSOLATION
CAN BE FOUND OUTSIDE THE
PRESTIGIOUS ALL-BOYS PRIVATE
SCHOOL, WHERE GOODNESS,
DISCIPLINE, AND KNOWLEDGE ARE
WRITTEN ON THE WALLS, BUT THE
OPPOSITE APPEARS TO HAVE
HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM.
>> THESE INCIDENTS ARE CLEARLY
INDICATIVE WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
>> Reporter: SIX STUDENTS
BETWEEN THE AGES OF 14 AND 15
ARE FACING CHARGES OF ASSAULT,
GANG SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND ASSAULT
WITH A WEAPON STEMMING FROM A
VIDEO THAT THE PRINCIPAL
RECEIVED LAST MONDAY EVENING AND
DIDN'T REPORT TO POLICE UNTIL
WEDNESDAY.
>> I KNOW I'M BEING CRITICIZED
FOR THAT, BUT I'VE SPOKEN WITH
THE VICTIM'S PARENTS.
THEY ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE
TIMELINE.
>> Reporter: BUT ALL THE
NEGATIVE ATTENTION HAS LED TO
THREATS AGAINST THE SCHOOL AND A
HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE.
FOUR INCIDENTS ARE BEING
INVESTIGATED, INCLUDING THE
ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT IN A
LOCKER ROOM.
>> I'M NOT GOING TO COMMENT.
I THINK MAYBE IT'S ONLY MADE IT
WORSE.
>> WHY IS THAT, SIR?
>> Reporter: HE WANTS TO ADDRESS
THE SEVERITY OF THE CRIMES, AT
LEAST WITH THE MEDIA.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT
TODAY'S CHARGES?
DO YOU FEEL SAFE SENDING YOUR
SON TO THIS SCHOOL?
>> YEAH.
>> Reporter: WHY'S THAT?
>> BECAUSE IT'S A GOOD SCHOOL.
A FEW KIDS DON'T DO ANYTHING.
>> I THINK SOME PEOPLE CAN
RELATE TO THIS.
>> Reporter: THE REACTION FROM
PARENTS DISMAYS THIS FORMER
STUDENT.
>> I THINK IT'S ABSOLUTELY
RIDICULOUS HOW THEY ARE MORE
FOCUSED ON SAVING THE NAME OF
ST. MIKE'S OVER EVEN ADDRESSING,
LIKE, WHAT THIS KID MUST HAVE
WENT THROUGH.
I THINK THAT'S ABSOLUTELY
UNBELIEVABLE, AND IT HONESTLY
SICKENS ME.
>> Reporter: WE'VE AGREED TO
PROTECT HIS IDENTITY, BECAUSE HE
FEARS BACKLASH FOR SPEAKING OUT.
HE SAYS HE LEFT THE SCHOOL ONE
YEAR BEFORE GRADUATION OVER A
CULTURE THAT HE SAYS REVERED
PRIVILEGE AND CONDONED BULLYING.
>> I DON'T THINK ENOUGH REALLY
WAS DONE BY THE TEACHERS AT THE
SCHOOL.
>> Reporter: YOU WANTED OUT?
>> I DID, YEAH.
>> Reporter: TORONTO POLICE SAY
THEY ALREADY HAVE MORE VIDEOS,
HINTING THERE MAY BE MORE
VICTIMS.
OLIVIA STEFANOVICH, CBC NEWS,
TORONTO.
>> Adrienne: WHEN I SPOKE WITH
ST. MIKE'S PRINCIPAL YESTERDAY,
HE SUGGESTED THE SCHOOL WOULD
HAVE AN APP SO STUDENTS COULD
DIGITALLY REPORT INCIDENTS.
TODAY HE SAID THEY ARE STILL
EXPLORING THAT OPTION, WHILE THE
SCHOOL RESPONDS IN OTHER WAYS.
>>> IT'S INSTALLED AN ANONYMOUS
VOICE MAIL TIP LINE, IT'S HIRING
A SOCIAL WORKER, AND IT HAS
BEGUN SELECTING INDEPENDENT
INVESTIGATORS FOR SO-CALLED
DEEP-DIVE REVIEW OF THE SCHOOL'S
CULTURE GOING BACK YEARS.
>> THE GOAL IS TO MAKE THE
INVISIBLE, VISIBLE AND TAKE
ACTION.
>> Adrienne: AMONG SOME
STUDENTS, HOWEVER, THIS WAS FAR
FROM INVISIBLE, IT WAS
WITNESSED, CAPTURED ON CAMERA,
AND CONTINUES TO BE SHARED ON
SOCIAL MEDIA.
IOANNA ROUMELIOTIS EXPLORES HOW
KIDS CAN SEE A CRIME, HEAR ABOUT
A CRIME, AND YET SAY NOTHING.
>> Reporter: IT WAS ODD TO SEE
AROUND THE LANDSCAPE OF ST.
MICHAEL'S COLLEGE TODAY, AS THE
APPEARANCE OF NORMAL IS
MAINTAINED, EVEN AS THE
SICKENING STORY BREAKS OPEN AND
SPARKS MORE OUTRAGE.
THESE STUDENTS GO TO A NEARBY
SCHOOL, TOO YOUNG TO SHOW THEIR
FACES, BUT WITH A LOT TO SAY.
>> I FEEL BAD FOR THAT KID,
LIKE, HE DIDN'T DESERVE THAT.
>> TERRIBLE.
CRUEL.
>> WHAT OUR TEACHER SAID, THOSE
KIDS, THEIR FUTURE, THEY RUINED
THEIR CAREER, THEIR FUTURE.
>> Reporter: THE CHARGES AGAINST
THE STUDENTS ARE HORRIFIC.
SO, TOO, THE FACT THERE WERE AT
LEAST 50 WITNESSES TO FOUR
ALLEGED ASSAULTS, AND MORE
WATCHING AS POLICE SAY VIDEOS OF
THE ATTACKS CONTINUE TO
CIRCULATE.
>> THE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
ARE FAR REACHING AND DETRIMENTAL
TO THE RECOVERY OF THE VICTIM.
I CANNOT STRESS TO YOU THE
IMPORTANCE OF ENSURING THESE
VIDEOS ARE IMMEDIATELY DELETED
FROM ALL PHONES OR DEVICES IN
YOUR POSSESSION.
>> Reporter: AND AS THE
PERPETRATORS APPEARED IN COURT,
THE CASE RAISES DISTURBING
QUESTIONS, TOO, OF THE VIRTUAL
BYSTANDERS AND THE ONES WHO WERE
THERE.
WHY DIDN'T THEY STOP THEM?
THE ANSWER MAY LIE, EXPERTS SAY,
IN HOW PERVASIVE HAZING IS, HOW
NORMALIZED IT'S BECOME.
A RECENT SURVEY FOUND NEARLY 60%
OF CANADIAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
ENDURED HAZING AT LEAST ONCE.
>> WE LOOK AT IT WITH SHOCK AND
AWE, BECAUSE IT'S SOMETHING THAT
HORRIFIES US, BUT FOR THESE
ATHLETES AND STUDENTS, IT'S BEEN
A PART OF THEIR CULTURE AND PART
OF THEIR TRADITION FOR SO LONG
THAT THEY DON'T SEE IT AS
PROBLEMATIC.
THEY DON'T SEE IT AS ABUSE.
>> Reporter: SHARING ABUSE
REPEATEDLY ONLINE ALSO LESSENS
THE SHOCK VALUE, BUT ONE AUTHOR
SAYS IT MAY MARK AN ERA OF
RECKONING.
>> THE OTHER SIDE OF IT IS IT
ACTUALLY BECOMES EVIDENCE, SO I
THINK THERE WERE GENERATIONS OF
KIDS WHO WOULD HAVE EXPERIENCED
THIS KIND OF VIOLENCE, WHO HAD
NO PROOF.
THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF WHAT
HAPPENED.
>> Reporter: BACK OUTSIDE THE
SCHOOL, THAT SAME GROUP OF KIDS
SAY THEY HOPE THEY WOULD HAVE
DONE MORE.
>> YEAH, AND IF I WAS THERE, I'D
BE LIKE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
IT'S WRONG.
>> Reporter: DO YOU THINK YOU'D
BE TOO SCARED TO?
>> I WOULD JUST TELL, LIKE, THE
TEACHER.
IF THEY WERE OLDER, I WOULDN'T
INTERVENE, BECAUSE, LIKE, THEY
WOULD PROBABLY DO IT TO ME, TOO.
I WOULD PROBABLY JUST TELL THE
TEACHER.
>> AND ALSO BE IN MORE TROUBLE.
>> Reporter: THEIR LOGIC, SO
SIMPLE AND BRAVE.
IOANNA ROUMELIOTIS, CBC NEWS,
TORONTO.
>> Adrienne: THE ALLEGED ATTACK
SOUNDS EERILY SIMILAR TO WHAT
HAPPENED TO D'ARCY McKEOWN YEARS
AGO.
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM OCCURRED
WHEN HE WAS A STUDENT AT McGILL
UNIVERSITY WHEN HE WAS SEXUALLY
ASSAULTED BY HIS TEAMMATES.
I SAT DOWN WITH HIM EARLIER TO
TALK ABOUT HOW HE FELT WHEN HE
FIRST HEARD THE NEWS ABOUT ST.
MIKE'S.
>> SO, HEARING THAT HAPPENED
THERE, A FLOOD OF EMOTIONS.
IT'S, YOU KNOW, DISAPPOINTMENT
THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AT A PLACE
THAT I FELT WAS SO SAFE.
IT WAS FRUSTRATION THAT THESE
THINGS ARE STILL GOING ON.
>> Adrienne: WE ALSO TALKED
ABOUT WHY HE THINKS THIS IS
STILL HAPPENING AND WHAT HE
WANTS THE STUDENTS AT ST. MIKE'S
TO KNOW.
THAT'S COMING UP A LITTLE LATER
ON "THE NATIONAL."
>> Ian: NOW TO THE LATEST IN THE
ONGOING CANADA POST STRIKE THAT
COULD BE AFFECTING A LOT OF
CANADIANS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.
THE UNION REJECTING THE LATEST
OFFER FROM CANADA POST.
THE COMPANY ASKED THE UNION TO
PUSH PAUSE ON ROTATING STRIKES
DURING THE BUSY HOLIDAY SEASON,
HOPING MORE THAN A MILLION
PACKAGES STUCK IN HUNDREDS OF
TRUCKS COULD GET BACK ON THE
ROAD FOR DELIVERY.
THE EMPLOYMENT MINISTER WAS
ASKED ABOUT NEGOTIATIONS JUST
AHEAD OF QUESTION PERIOD.
>> IT CERTAINLY DOES FEEL LIKE
PARENTING SOMETIMES WHEN YOU'RE
WORKING WITH TWO PARTIES WHO
REFUSE TO SIT DOWN AND GET A
DEAL, BUT ULTIMATELY, AT THE END
OF THE DAY, THAT'S WHEN YOU HAVE
STRONG COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS,
WHEN EMPLOYERS AND UNIONS WORK
TOGETHER TO GET A DEAL THAT
WORKS FOR EVERYONE.
THAT'S WHEN THOSE AGREEMENTS ARE
LONGLASTING AND RESPECTED IN THE
WORKPLACE.
>> Ian: WITH NEITHER SIDE MOVING
AND THE BACKLOG OF PACKAGES, THE
PRESSURE IS ON SHOPPERS AND
SHIPPERS TO FIND ANOTHER WAY.
DIANNE BUCKNER HAS THAT STORY.
>> Reporter: YOU'RE LOOKING AT
THE BIGGEST BACKLOG OF
DELIVERIES CANADA POST HAS EVER
SEEN.
OVER 400 TRACTOR TRAILER LOADS
AT THIS TORONTO PROCESSING
PLANT, HUNDREDS MORE IN
VANCOUVER AND MONTREAL.
EVERY TRUCK IS LOADED WITH ABOUT
2,500 PARCELS.
>> WE ARE HITTING A TIME WHERE
IF WE DON'T CLEAR THE BACKLOG
SOON, THOSE BLACK FRIDAY, CYBER
MONDAY VOLUMES HIT, AND THAT
KICKS OFF A PERIOD OF SEVERAL
WEEKS WHERE WE SEE DOUBLE THE
VOLUMES WE NORMALLY DO.
>> Reporter: THE COMPANY ASKED
INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS TO STOP
SENDING MAIL AND PARCELS TO
CANADA.
THE TIMING OF THE LABOUR DISPUTE
COULDN'T BE WORSE.
>> THIS IS OUR BIGGEST WEEK, SO
WE HAVE OUR BIGGEST DAYS OF THE
YEAR DURING THIS PERIOD, AND
LIKE EVERY OTHER E-COMMERCE
PLAYER IN THAT, THIS IS A --
THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL OF
E-COMMERCE HAPPENING THIS WEEK.
>> Reporter: ANDREA STAIRS HEADS
UP eBAY CANADA.
SHE SAYS 80% TO 90% OF THE
SELLERS ON THE E-COMMERCE
WEBSITE USE CANADA POST TO SHIP
PRODUCT.
>> THE BIG GUYS CAN FIGURE OUT
ALTERNATIVE SHIPPING
ARRANGEMENTS AND THEY CAN AFFORD
THEM.
THE LITTLE GUYS ARE THE ONES
THAT HAVE A REAL DIFFICULTY WITH
THAT.
>> Reporter: THERE ARE
ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO SHIP.
THIS COMPANY WORKS WITH COURIERS
OTHER THAN THE POST OFFICE.
>> RIGHT NOW WE'RE SLAMMED.
WE'VE BEEN GETTING VIRTUALLY
HUNDREDS OF SIGN-UPS, YOU KNOW,
EACH AND EVERY WEEK SINCE WORD
OF IT.
>> Reporter: BUT EVERY COURIER
AND DELIVERY SERVICE IN CANADA
PUT TOGETHER COULDN'T HANDLE THE
LOAD CANADA POST DOES.
>> WE DELIVER TWO OUT OF EVERY
THREE PARCELS THAT CANADIANS
ORDER ONLINE.
WE SERVE 200,000 SMALL
BUSINESSES, 11,000 MEDIUM TO
LARGE RETAILERS AND CANADIANS IN
BETWEEN THAT.
>> Reporter: WITH NO RESOLUTION
IN SITE, ONLINE RETAILERS ARE
WARNING CUSTOMERS OF DELAYS, AND
ONLINE SHOPPERS MAY ACTUALLY BE
CONSIDERING A TRIP TO THE MALL.
DIANNE BUCKNER, CBC NEWS,
TORONTO.
>> Ian: TO ONTARIO NOW, WHERE
PREMIER DOUG FORD IS GETTING AN
EARFUL ABOUT BUDGET CUTS
AFFECTI
AFFECTING FRENCH SPEAKERS.
QUEBEC'S PREMIER WANTS THOSE
DECISIONS REVERSED AND SO DO
MANY OF ONTARIO'S 620,000
FRANCOPHONES.
AS THE LARGEST NUMBER OF FRENCH
SPEAKERS OUTSIDE OF QUEBEC, THIS
IS SIGNIFICANT FOR A LOT OF
PEOPLE.
PREMIER DOUG FORD MAY HAVE
UNDERESTIMATED HOW ANGRY THEY
ARE AND HOW MUCH SUPPORT THEY
HAVE.
AS KATHERINE CULLEN TELLS US,
FORD HAS MORE THAN JUST A
PROVINCIAL ISSUE.
>> IT'S WILLIAM.
I'M SORRY TO MISS YOUR CALL.
>> Reporter: THAT IS DOUG FORD
ON THE LINE, KNOWN FOR CALLING
CONCERNED CONSTITUENTS BACK.
FRIDAY HE TOOK A CALL FROM THIS
20-YEAR-OLD FRANCO ONTARIAN.
>> YOU DIDN'T CONSUL AT A TIME
ANY OF OUR FRANCOPHONE
ORGANIZATIONS.
HOW COME?
>> I CAN'T BE MORE CLEAR, WE
DON'T HAVE MONEY.
>> Reporter: TODAY, WILLIAM
BURTON SAYS HE'S GLAD FORD SPOKE
TO HIM, BUT HE DOESN'T FEEL THE
PREMIER WAS REALLY LISTENING.
>> IT'S A RIGHT TO BE FRENCH IN
CANADA, WE'RE ONE OF THE TWO
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES, SO WE'RE
MISSING A LOT OF INFORMATION,
CRUCIAL INFORMATION.
>> Reporter: IT'S NOT JUST AN
ONTARIO ISSUE.
TODAY'S QUEBEC'S ISSUE RAISED IT
WITH FORD, SEEMINGLY TO NO
AVAIL.
>> I DON'T THINK IT SENDS A GOOD
MESSAGE TO FRANCOPHONE, BUT IT'S
NOT MY DECISION.
IT'S HIS DECISION.
>> Reporter: THING IS, THERE ARE
A LOT OF FRANCOPHONES IN CANADA.
IN QUEBEC, YES, BUT ALSO IN
ONTARIO AND SIGNIFICANT
POPULATIONS IN NEW BRUNSWICK AND
MANITOBA.
SO FOR A FORD ALLY HOPING TO WIN
MORE SEATS ACROSS THE COUNTRY,
THIS HAS BECOME A BIT TOUCHY.
ANDREW SCHEER SAID YESTERDAY HE
DID RAISE THE SUBJECT WITH FORD,
BUT -- DID YOU ASK HIM TO
REVERSE THE DECISION?
>> I DID.
IT'S UP TO MR. FORD TO MANAGE
THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.
>> Reporter: THE FEDERAL
LIBERALS, THOUGH, WANT TO MAKE
THIS SCHEER'S ISSUE TO MANAGE,
SAYING THE CONSERVATIVE LEADER,
RATHER THAN THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT, IS THE ONE WHO MUST
STOP FORD.
>> YOU NEED TO HAVE THE
POLITICAL COURAGE TO DO THAT.
IF HE DOESN'T, HE'S AFFECTING
THE RIGHTS OF FRANCOPHONES ALL
ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
>> Reporter: FORD IS PUSHING
BACK AGAINST THE POLITICAL
PRESSURE, POINTING OUT, FOR
EXAMPLE, FRANCOPHONE UNIVERSITY
HADN'T OPENED YET.
>> AGAIN, WASN'T CUT, NEVER HAD
IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, SO IT WAS
A PROMISE.
>> Reporter: FORD HAS SAID THIS
IS ABOUT SAVING MONEY, NOT ABOUT
FRENCH OR, HE SAYS, ABOUT
ENGLISH OR SPANISH OR ANY OTHER
LANGUAGE, BUT THE POLITICS
AROUND THE FRENCH LANGUAGE ARE
DISTINCT.
EVEN IF FORD HIMSELF SEEMS
IMMUNE, THE POLITICAL PRESSURE
IS GROWING.
KATHERINE CULLEN, CBC NEWS,
OTTAWA.
>> Adrienne: TURNING NOW TO AN
ACUTE SHORTAGE IN MEDICINE
CABINETS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
A GROWING NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO
RELY ON PRESCRIPTION DRUGS ARE
DISCOVERING THEIR PHARMACY HAS
RUN OUT.
IN FACT, TONIGHT, THERE ARE MORE
THAN 1,600 DRUGS THAT CANNOT BE
FILLED.
MANY FOR CRITICAL AND CHRONIC
CONDITIONS.
AND THAT SHORTAGE LIST JUST
KEEPS GETTING LONGER.
OUR HEALTH REPORTER CHRISTINE
BIRAK HAS MORE ON THE DEFICITS
THAT ARE PUTTING PATIENTS AND
CARE AT RISK.
>> WELL, AS OF RIGHT NOW I
REALLY ONLY HAVE FOUR TABLETS OF
THE BRAND NAME WELLBUTRIN
LEFTOVER.
>> Reporter: ANDY HAS A HANDFUL
OF GENERICS.
THAT'S IT FOR A DRUG USED TO
TREAT DEPRESSION CALLED
BUPROPION.
>> WE CALL NEIGHBOURING
PHARMACIES TO SEE IF THEY HAVE
ANY SUPPLY.
>> Reporter: THIS PSYCHIATRIST
IS NOW SEEING ANXIOUS PATIENTS,
WORRIED THEIR MEDICATION WILL
RUN OUT.
>> IT'S A BIG DEAL.
IT'S A VERY BIG DEAL.
SO WHEN THERE'S A SHORTAGE LIKE
THIS, SOME PATIENTS MIGHT
SCRAMBLE AND THEY MAY BE ABLE TO
FIND ANOTHER ANTIDEPRESS SENT
THAT'S EFFECTIVE, BUT THEY MAY
NOT.
>> Reporter: DRUG SHORTAGES
CANADA.CA HOUSES A MASTER LIST
OF OVER 1,000 MEDICATIONS IN
SHORT SUPPLY.
IT REVEALS THERE ARE JUST TWO
COMPANIES MANUFACTURING
BUPROPION IN CANADA.
WHY THE SHORTAGE?
MYLAN PHARMACEUTICALS NOTES A
DELAY IN SHIPPING.
VALIANT, NOW CALLED BOSCH
HEALTH, DOESN'T OFFER ANY
EXPLANATION.
>> I HAD THAT THOUGHT IN MY
MIND, AHA, IT'S EVIL PHARMA, BUT
REALLY THAT'S NOT THE CASE.
FIRST OF ALL, IN CANADA, DRUG
COMPANIES CANNOT ARBITRARILY
RAISE PRICES, EVEN WHEN THERE IS
A SHORTAGE.
>> Reporter: INSTEAD, SHORTAGES
AND PRICE SPIKES MAY HAVE MORE
TO DO WITH A LACK OF INTEREST IN
OLDER DRUGS BY COMPANIES AND
DOCTORS.
>> DOCTORS LEARN THERE IS A NEW
DRUG, SO THEY STOP USING THE OLD
DRUG, EVEN THOUGH THERE MAY BE
THOUSANDS USING THE OLD DRUG,
THE OLD DRUG IS NO LONGER
PROFITABLE, SO COMPANIES STOP
MAKING IT.
>> Reporter: TO TAKE BACK SOME
CONTROL OF THE GENERIC DRUG
SUPPLY, A NOT FOR PROFIT GENERIC
DRUG COMPANY WAS LAUNCHED.
THE FIRST DRUG IS EXPECTED TO BE
READY NEXT YEAR.
>> IT HOPS AROUND FROM ONE TO
THE OTHER.
>> Reporter: THE BUPROPION
SHORTAGE MIGHT SOON BE RESOLVED,
BUT THERE'S A GROWING LIST OF
DRUGS LEAVING EMPTY SPACES ON
PHARMACY SHELVES, CHRISTINE
BIRAK, CBC NEWS, AURORA,
ONTARIO.
>> Ian: HERE'S SOME OF THE OTHER
STORIES WE'RE WATCHING ON "THE
NATIONAL" TONIGHT.
AN ONTARIO MAN WHO CLAIMED HE
WAS ASLEEP WHEN HE SEXUALLY
ASSAULTED A WOMAN BACK IN 2011
HAS BEEN FOUND CRIMINALLY
RESPONSIBLE.
>> SHOCKED, BECAUSE IT'S FINALLY
OVER, BUT RELIEVED OVER ALL
JUST, YOU KNOW, FINALLY SOME
JUSTICE.
>> Ian: THE WOMAN WAS RAPED
SEVEN YEARS AGO WHILE SHE WAS
SLEEPING.
HER ATTACKER, RYAN HARTMAN, WAS
CONVICTED OF THE ASSAULT, BUT
APPEALED THAT DECISION TWICE.
THE SECOND TIME HE ADMITTED TO
THE CRIME, BUT CLAIMED HE HAD
SEXSOMNIA AND DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS
RAPING HER.
WELL, TODAY THE JUDGE SAID
HARTMAN FAILED TO PROVE HE
SUFFERS FROM THE SLEEP DISORDER
AND SAYS IT'S MORE LIKELY HE
BLACKED OUT FROM ALCOHOL.
>>> YOU MAY BE SURPRISED IT
HADN'T HAPPENED ALREADY, BUT
TODAY'S B.C.'s GOVERNMENT
INTRODUCED LEGISLATION TO
LEGALIZE RIDE-HAILING.
HOWEVER, IT WILL PROBABLY BE
NEXT FALL BEFORE YOU CAN GRAB AN
UBER OR LYFT IN VANCOUVER.
A CROWN CORPORATION CONTROLS
VEHICLE INSURANCE IN THIS
PROVINCE, AND IT'S STILL WORKING
ON ITS PLAN.
STILL, PEOPLE WE HEARD FROM
TODAY SAY THEY ARE LOOKING
FORWARD TO SOME COMPETITION FOR
TAXES.
>> I'VE GOT A DISABILITY, I
CAN'T DRIVE, I NEVER WILL BE
ABLE TO DRIVE, SO IT'S SOMETHING
I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO.
>> Ian: RIGHT NOW, VANCOUVER IS
THE LARGEST CITY IN NORTH
AMERICA WITHOUT COMPANIES LIKE
UBER.
>>> AND CALGARY'S OLYMPIC BID IS
OFFICIALLY DEAD AFTER A
UNANIMOUS VOTE BY CITY COUNCIL.
IT WILL ALSO REVEAL DETAILS OF
THE ENTIRE PROCESS, INCLUDING
HOW MUCH IT SPENT.
THIS DECISION FOLLOWS LAST
WEEK'S PLEBISCITE, WHEN 56% OF
C
CALGARY RESIDENTS DIDN'T WANT TO
BID.
>> Adrienne: VIOLA DESMOND ON
THE $10 BILL.
WE'RE THERE AS HER SISTER
CELEBRATES.
>> Ian: AND A CBC NEWS
INVESTIGATION, THEY WERE
SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY THEIR
TEACHERS.
NOW DECADES LATER THEY WANT TO
KNOW WHY THEIR SCHOOL BOARD
FAILED TO PROTECT THEM.
>> Adrienne: FIRST, THOUGH,
WE'LL RETURN TO THE ST.
MICHAEL'S INVESTIGATION.
MY IN-DEPTH CONVERSATION WITH
D'ARCY McKEOWN, WHO BECAME A
VICTIM OF SEXUAL ASSAULT.
HIS MESSAGE TO POTENTIAL VICTIMS
NOW, NEXT.
>> YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
THERE ARE WAY MORE PEOPLE THAT
HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS THAN
ANYONE CARES TO
.
>>> WE HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE
THERE MAY BE MORE VIDEOS AND
MORE INCIDENTS.
>> Adrienne: AN ALL-BOYS PRIVATE
SCHOOL IN TORONTO CONTINUES TO
SPIRAL IN SCANDAL.
AS WE HEARD EARLIER, SIX TEENS
HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION
WITH AN ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT
AT ST. MICHAEL'S COLLEGE.
POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THREE
OTHER INCIDENTS, SOME OF THEM
SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND THEY
WARN THERE COULD BE MORE
CHARGES.
AND AS SHOCKING AS ALL OF THIS
IS, IT'S ALSO VAGUELY FAMILIAR.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE
CANADIAN SCHOOL HAS BEEN
CONFRONTED WITH SIMILAR
ALLEGATIONS.
>> THERE WAS INAPPROPRIATE
BEHAVIOUR AT AN INITIATION
ACTIVITY THAT WAS HELD BY ONE OF
OUR SPORTS TEAMS.
>> Adrienne: THAT WAS 2005.
AND THEN AN 18-YEAR-OLD FRESHMAN
FOOTBALL PLAYER WAS SEXUALLY
ASSAULTED AT McGILL UNIVERSITY
IN MONTREAL.
IT WAS DURING A HAZING RITUAL
PERPETRATED BY A GROUP OF
VETERAN PLAYERS.
AND WHILE NO CRIMINAL CHARGES
WERE EVER FILED, SEVERAL
STUDENTS WERE SUSPENDED, AND THE
UNIVERSITY CANCELLED THE REST OF
ITS FOOTBALL SEASON.
D'ARCY McKEOWN WAS THE
18-YEAR-OLD VICTIM OF THAT 2005
INCIDENT, AND AS AN ALUMNUS OF
ST. MICHAEL'S, AS WELL, HE
BRINGS A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE TO
THIS CURRENT SCANDAL, SO WE
SPOKE EARLIER TODAY.
IF YOU CAN TAKE US BACK TO
McGILL, WHEN YOU JOINED McGILL
AND WHEN YOU DECIDED TO JOIN THE
FOOTBALL TEAM, WHAT SORT OF
DISCUSSIONS WERE HAPPENING
AROUND INITIATION RITES OR
HAZING OR ANY OF THAT?
>> THERE WAS THIS RUMOUR GOING
AROUND THAT AT THE END OF
TRAINING CAMP THERE WOULD BE A
PROCTOLOGY EXAM FOR EVERY ROOKIE
THAT MADE THE CUT, AND, YOU
KNOW, IT WAS KIND OF LORED OVER
US THE ENTIRE TIME.
WHAT REALLY SHOCKED ME WAS THAT
IT WAS MENTIONED IN FRONT OF
COACHING STAFF AND SUPPORT
STAFF, TRAINERS, THINGS LIKE
THAT, WHICH KIND OF RE-ENFORCED
WHAT I HAD SUSPECTED AT THE
TIME, WHICH IS THAT IT WAS ALL
KIND OF MENTAL WARFARE, TRYING
TO MESS WITH YOUR HEAD A LITTLE
BIT BEFORE TRAINING CAMP
CONCLUDED.
>> Adrienne: YOU NEVER THOUGHT
THEY'D ACTUALLY GO THROUGH WITH
SOMETHING LIKE THIS, IT WAS JUST
A THREAT?
>> I THOUGHT IF THEY HAD BEEN
SMART ENOUGH TO GET INTO McGILL
AND ALL THAT, YES, THEY WOULD
HAVE BEEN SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW
SOMETHING LIKE THAT WASN'T
APPROPRIATE.
>> Adrienne: CAN YOU WALK US
THROUGH WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
TO YOU?
>> YEAH, SO IT STARTED AFTER A
MANDATORY TEAM DINNER, IN ONE OF
THE DINING HALLS, AND AT THAT
POINT THEY HAD ALL THE ROOKIES
TAKE OFF THEIR SHIRTS, HOLD
HANDS, AND SKIP DOWN TO THE
ATHLETIC CENTRE WHILE CALLING US
HOMOPHOBIC SLURS.
THEY THEN LED US INTO THESE
BASICALLY SQUASH COURTS, WHICH
ARE HOLDING PENS, AND TOLD US TO
HOLD THE PEN TO THE WALL WITH
OUR NOSE, AND EVERY TIME SOMEONE
DROPPED IT, IT WOULD BE ANOTHER
INCH WITH DR. BRUNO.
>> Adrienne: SO YOU CAN'T REALLY
SEE MUCH IF YOU HAVE YOUR NOSE
AGAINST THE WALL, BUT WHAT IS
YOUR SENSE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE
WERE THERE?
>> I WAS BASICALLY IN A HOLDING
PEN WITH THE OTHER ROOKIES, AND
ONE BY ONE WE WERE TAKEN OUT TO
THE SQUASH COURT NEXT DOOR WHERE
WE ALMOST HAD A SPOTLIGHT ON US,
SO COULDN'T REALLY SEE MUCH
BEYOND THAT, AND WE SAW THERE
WERE A COUPLE TEAM CAPTAINS AND
VETERANS ON THE FLOOR, AND THERE
WERE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE TEAM
UP IN THE STANDS.
IF I HAD TO ESTIMATE, SOMEWHERE
BETWEEN 30 AND 60.
WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH MY HEAD
AT THAT TIME, EVEN BEFORE I WAS
LED INTO THE ROOM, WAS THAT THIS
IS ALL A JOKE, YOU KNOW, A THING
TO MESS WITH US MORE THAN A
REALITY.
AND, YOU KNOW, WASN'T UNTIL I
GOT IN THERE AND THEY TOLD ME TO
STRIP DOWN AND SHOVE A DOG CHEW
TOY IN MY MOUTH AND BEND OVER
THAT, YOU KNOW, IT KIND OF CAME
TO A REALITY.
>> Adrienne: AND YOU STOPPED
THEM?
>> I LEFT RIGHT AFTER, AND LATER
I FOUND OUT THAT BECAUSE OF MY
LEAVING, THEY ENDED UP SHUTTING
DOWN THE INITIATION THAT NIGHT
AND TAKING EVERYONE OUT
SOMEWHERE.
SO I DIDN'T STOP ALL OF IT, BUT
THERE WERE LIMITED PEOPLE WHO
EXPERIENCED WHAT I EXPERIENCED
BECAUSE OF MY LEAVING.
>> Adrienne: HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE
TO WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND WHAT
THE DIFFERENCE WOULD BE THAT
WOULD MAKE YOU BE THE PERSON TO
TRY TO STOP THIS WHEN SO MANY
OTHER PEOPLE DIDN'T, THOSE 30 OR
60 PEOPLE WATCHING DIDN'T PUT
THE BRAKES ON THIS EITHER?
>> A LOT OF THOSE PEOPLE IN THE
ROOM, I DON'T DOUBT, ESPECIALLY
THE ATHLETES WHO WERE A YEAR
AHEAD OF ME, HAD PROBABLY BEEN
THROUGH THE SAME THING.
I KNOW I HAD ONE OTHER TEAMMATE
TELL ME, YEAH, IT'S REAL, IT
HAPPENS, IT'S AWFUL.
YOU DEAL WITH IT AND MOVE ON.
AND THROUGH TALKING TO SOME
OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE
THROUGH DIFFERENT HAZINGS SINCE
McGILL, WHAT I'VE COME TO
REALIZE IS EVERYONE HANDLES
THINGS DIFFERENTLY.
AND IT'S YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE
HOW YOU BOUNCE THROUGH THIS.
>> Adrienne: WALK ME THROUGH
WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU
FIRST HEARD ABOUT ST. MIKE'S.
>> HEARING ABOUT ST. MIKE'S WAS
TOUGH FOR ME.
YOU KNOW, DURING MY TIME THERE,
I NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING
LIKE WHAT'S GONE ON THE PAST FEW
DAYS, NOR HAD I HEARD ABOUT
OTHER PEOPLE GOING THROUGH IT
WHILE I WAS THERE.
SO HEARING THAT HAPPENED THERE
IS A FLOOD OF EMOTIONS.
IT'S, YOU KNOW, DISAPPOINTMENT
THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AT A PLACE
THAT I FELT WAS SO SAFE, IT WAS
FRUSTRATION THAT THESE THINGS
ARE STILL GOING ON, YOU KNOW, I
CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY PEOPLE THINK
THIS IS TEAM BUILDING, BUT IT'S
NOT.
AND IT REALLY JUST CREATES A
CULTURE OF BULLYING AND, YOU
KNOW, JUST KEEPS THE UGLY
TRADITION GOING.
AND, YOU KNOW, IT KEEPS CRIMES
UNDER THE GUISE OF THE TERM
"HAZING," WHEN IT SHOULD BE
CALLED OUT FOR WHAT THEY ARE,
ASSAULT.
>> Adrienne: YOU KNOW, THE
POLICE TODAY MADE REFERENCE TO
THIS BEGINNING AS HAZING AND
THEN MOVING INTO SOMETHING ELSE.
YOU ARE WATCHING THAT NEWS
CONFERENCE.
WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN
YOU HEARD THAT WORD REPEATED
MORE THAN ONCE?
>> I THINK IT SHOWS THE ISSUE
WITH PEOPLE USING THAT TERM,
WHICH IS THAT IT'S ALMOST
CHOCKED UP TO BOYS WILL BE BOYS,
OR IT'S JUST KIDS MESSING ABOUT,
WHEN NOT REALLY EXPRESSING THE
SEVERITY OF THESE ACTIONS.
AND, YOU KNOW, WHAT WAS EVEN
MORE DANGEROUS, TOO, IS THAT,
YOU KNOW, MORE SO THAN WHAT I
WENT THROUGH AT McGILL, THERE
ARE NOW VIDEOS OF THESE THINGS
CIRCULATING ON THE INTERNET,
WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN IN MY CASE.
THOSE THINGS CAN POP UP FOREVER,
ESSENTIALLY.

Poi Gunslinger Tutorial: Wrap Entries (Advanced Poi Tricks) - Duration: 7:13.Currently there are a lot of folks out there in the tech poi world that do gunslingers
and if you've watched any of my gunslinger videos on Instagram you may have noticed there's
something that makes my technique a little different than most.
I'm talking about how I get into my gunslingers.
Something I like to call the wrap entry and today I'd want to tell you guys why I love
it so much, how to do it, and why I wish more people did it.
Drex here from DrexFactor.com and I'm finally throwing a bone to all those folks who've
been asking to see advanced trick tutorials return to my channel.
Please join my notification squad by hitting the subscribe button and the notification
bell so you know exactly when I drop a new video.
I'd also like to send out a quick thank you to the friends of the channel!
Big thanks to Dark Monk, Flowtoys, LMF Props, Spinballs, and Ultrapoi for helping to make
the videos on this channel possible.
You can learn more about each of them by following the links down in the description of this
video.
So gunslingers...I actually first saw Jon Alvarez experimenting with these at the Vulcan
several years ago and before he committed them to video.
And I will absolutely confess that I really didn't think much of them at the time.
It wasn't until I started seeing people like Aoi Kondo and James MacPherson performing
flowers and hybrids with their gunslingers that I really got interested in adding these
tricks to my repertoire.
There was also one other guy that did things with gunslingers that really intrigued me:
Cryptic Firecat.
He had a way to get into gunslingers that was so distinctive and cool looking that one
of my first orders of business was learning from him how he was doing it.
At a spin jam in Dolores Park in San Francisco, I spent a very, very frustrating afternoon
trying to learn from him how to do his entry.
And it was only after I took some slow-motion video of him doing it that it finally clicked
into place and I realized what made his entry so special.
Put simply, this entry which I've since been calling the wrap entry adds an extra
flourish to gunslingers by adding a moment in which the poi is completely wrapped around
the hand before being regripped mid-tether.
I freaking love this flourish for a couple reasons:
The first is that it is a perfect fit for contact poi.
While it's more popular to do gunslingers with evenly weighted heads and handles, I've
never been a big fan of heavy handles and always wanted to be able to perform gunslingers
with the contact poi that I use for every other task.
This entry didn't just make that possible--it also made it look cool.
The second is that wrap entries do something similar to what five beat weaves do.
Nick Woolsey has a great video on reasons he does and does not like five beat weaves
and the really intriguing idea that comes out of that video is that they can essentially
be used to slow down a weave for a little while by adding an extra degree of twist.
Basically, you can trick out your weave or waistwrap just a hair of a second longer for
dramatic effect.
Wrap entries do something very similar for gunslingers!
The more common entry for gunslingers is something I like to call the slide entry and it involves
releasing the poi when there's enough momentum on it to start sliding out of your hand but
not so much that it goes flying off.
This means that it takes a single beat to get the poi to a gunslinger grip.
The wrap entry takes two beats to get to a gunslinger grip.
That means I can stretch out the entry for dramatic effect or work it into tricks that
otherwise may not be a good fit for a gunslinger entry.
One of my favorites right now is to enter a gunslinger from the bottom two petals of
a flower: for example coming out of a four petal antispin flower into a gunslinger or
switching direction from a triquetra vs static spin to gunslinger flower vs static spin.
Personally I think this latter transition looks super slick!
And finally, can I just say: I really just love the fact that the entry happens with
such a flourish.
I see so many gunslinger entries out there with evenly weighted handles that seem to
either ignore or just plain avoid showing off the entry to the audience.
That's a great moment to play with!
Let's get creative with it.
It is also without a doubt the thing I'm asked most about when I teach classes on gunslingers.
Unfortunately it's also really difficult to teach in person.
So that's where this video comes in.
The best way I've found to teach or learn this trick is with footage that's shot in
slow motion so you can see every individual piece of how it comes together.
You're going to have your poi in one hand with your palm pointed down and you're going
to wrap the tether over your hand twice.
Be very, very careful that the coils of the poi do not overlap--otherwise you won't
be able to get the poi to unwrap at all.
With two coils across the top of your hand, you're going to release the handle and try
to keep the momentum of the head going.
The tether will start to slide but it should still have enough drag on it from being wrapped
around your hand that it doesn't just fly off.
You'll want to regrip the tether as the head emerges from under your palm and begins
to drift away from your hand.
Needless to say, it's can be kind of a challenge to do this step by step in the way that I'm
describing because it requires you start and stop the momentum each time.
So, let me show you all that in slow motion with everything moving the whole time.
So again: we start by wrapping the poi over the top of the hand twice and then as the
head wraps over the knuckles a second time you want to kick out the handle, starting
it spinning around your hand.
That's when you get this wonderful moment when the handle and head both spin around
your hand for a moment without being gripped at all.
Finally, you regrip as the head slides underneath your palm and begins to pull the either poi
away.
From there you can just spin it however you choose: spiral wrap, meteor weave, it's
totally up to you!
I really recommend starting off by wrapping the poi over your hand a couple times and
get used to the timing of that and how it feels.
The biggest problem I had in learning this trick was to wait for the poi to wrap around
the second time.
You release too early and the poi just go flying.
Outstanding--and for the record: there is nothing wrong with the slide entry.
I just want to make sure those of us playing in this space have options to work with.
I think it's better to know both approaches and to be able to actively choose between
them as the situation needs.
Do you think the wrap entry looks cool, too?
Vote for your favorite entry down in the comments.
Let me know if you like the wrap by writing "wrap" and if you like the slide by writing
"slide" down there.
Okay, so now that you know how to get into gunslingers using the wrap method, what else
can you do with them?
Well, I have an entire course up on gunslingers at my learning site: learn.drexfactor.com.
In it I cover not only the entries and exits but also all those cool flowers and hybrids
I love doing with gunslingers, plus spiral wraps and many more.
Check that out if you'd like to deepen your knowledge of gunslingers.
Before I set you guys loose, I just want to do a shout out to my supporters on Patreon.
You guys are the reason that I'm able to keep on making these videos for everyone all
across the world.
If you'd like to sign up to support the work that I do, please head on over to patreon.com/drexfactorpoi.
Thanks so much in advance!

Man Utd news LIVE: Frenkie de Jong drops transfer clue on Instagram, Ivan Perisic boost - Duration: 8:48.Manchester United news LIVE updates: All the latest news and gossip from Old Trafford Monday 19, NovemberMarko Arnautovic could join a top-six side - PearceManchester United are considering a move for Axel WitselMan Utd have opened transfer talks with N'Golo Kante's entourageOld Trafford chiefs agree that Toby Alderweireld should be signedMarouane Fellaini's City claim Marouane Fellaini does not believe Manchester City are that much better than Jose Mourinho's side
"I don't think so," Fellaini said, when asked by Sky Sports whether it was a fair reflection of both teams' quality
"I remember when I arrived in England [in 2008] it was a top four, now it is a top six, so every year it is more difficult
" Fellaini seems to relish the heightened competition, in fact, saying: "Next season we will see how it changes in two and three years
"I think every year it is more difficult, the intensity is higher, so that's why the Premier League is attractive
"Ivan Perisic = Bargain! Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic - but it may pave the way for Anthony Martial leaving the club
Jose Mourinho wanted to sign the winger during the summer but the club was not willing to supply the sufficient funds
It was originally thought that Perisic could cost in excess of £50million, which was deemed too high by Old Trafford executives
United have been handed a boost should they swoop back in for the player in January, however
According to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, Inter are only asking for £31m (€35m)
They would not let their star man leave without lining up a replacement, though. It is thought that Martial is in Inter's sights and he could form part of the deal, in which case Inter would presumably pay United some extra funds
Frenkie de Jong Instagram clue Has Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong been dropping clues about his next destination? Spanish website AS certainly think so after reporting that the coveted 21-year-old 'aroused suspicions' with his recent social-media activity
De Jong, 21, has been linked with numerous European heavyweights including Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus and Manchester United
But are Barcelona's El Clasico arch-rivals Real Madrid De Jong's preferred option? AS say the Dutch international has 'liked' several posts from Real Madrid's official Instagram account - including the permanent appointment of Santiago Solari
Dutch newspaper Telegraaf recently claimed that Real Madrid would be prepared to spend a whopping £71million to secure his services
Marko Arnautovic transfer Marko Arnautovic has "undoubtedly" got the talent to play for a top Premier League side, says Stuart Pearce
Arnautovic has been linked with a move away from West Ham in the last few days after confirming while on international duty he would love to play with the best players in Europe
United were reportedly keen on the Austrian in the summer and are once again said to be interested in signing him
"He's a West Ham player, he's under contract at West Ham," Pearce told Sky Sports
"I don't think that West Ham will want to sell him. "Has he got the tools to be a top-four player? Undoubtedly
He's got a bit of everything."Aaron Ramsey next club… Aaron Ramsey has reportedly seen Manchester United and Liverpool emerge as his most likely destinations if he stays in the Premier League
Bayern Munich were last week reported to have won the race to secure Ramsey's signature, with the Bundesliga giants able to announce a deal in January
However, it appears a move to Germany might not be on the cards with United and Liverpool sniffing around the 27-year-old Arsenal ace
According to Bleacher Report, sources close to Ramsey suggest talk of a switch to Bayern is premature
Ramsey is open to the prospect of calling time on his career in the Premier League altogether
And, with Bayern, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus, he has plenty of options on the continent
Manchester United and Liverpool, though, will not let the chance to snap up Ramsey on a free pass them by without a fight
Bleacher Report reckon United and Liverpool have stolen a march on the likes of Chelsea, who Express Sport understand like the look of Ramsey
Scouted: Axel Witsel Manchester United are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund star Axel Witsel
That's according to newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, who claim Jose Mourinho attended Belgium's recent UEFA Nations League victory over Iceland to watch the midfielder in action
Witsel, 29, only arrived at Dortmund in August having signed from Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian
But he's clearly made a big impression on Mourinho, who is looking to bolster his midfield options
Man Utd open Kante talks Chelsea have been rocked by Man Utd opening transfer talks with N'Golo Kante's entourage, it's claimed
The Blues are eager to tie Kante down to a new contract, with the midfielder's current deal expiring in 2021
Yet Caught Offside have sensationally claimed Manchester United have sounded out the player's entourage for talks about a potential transfer
Caught Offside reckon United have opened talks with the player and are hopeful of signing him
Jose's wish granted? Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to see his wish for a new centre-back granted by Old Trafford chiefs in January with Toby Alderweireld his top target
Mourinho made a personal check on Alderweireld last Thursday though as Belgium beat Iceland 2-0 at Brussels' Heysel Stadium
And while he didn't watch the match in full, it appears Mourinho saw enough from Alderweireld to reinforce his belief the Ajax academy graduate is the man he needs at United
According to Bleacher Report, United will resolve their centre-back issue during the January transfer window
Jose Mourinho has apparently put the onus on United's board to actively pursue Alderweireld ahead of January
And two players have already been earmarked for the chop in order to free up a space in the Portuguese's squad
Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo are both said to be in line for being axed in January

Thanks so much in advance!

Manchester United clinching £132million double transfer would be welcome change of approach after re - Duration: 4:07.Manchester United have been linked with two of the most exciting young players in Europe in a potential double transfer raid on Ajax
The players in question are 19-year-old centre-back Matthijs de Ligt and 21-year-old defensive midfielder Frenkie de Jong – names you might be familiar with by now as they are also being linked with pretty much every other top club in Europe
Matthijs de Ligt to leave Ajax for Manchester United? Still, given their youth, it's a bit of a surprise to see them being mentioned in the same breath as United manager Jose Mourinho – a man who values experience and players he knows he can trust
However, Don Balon mention United as being among the contenders to sign the £71million-rated De Ligt, while AS also mentions in passing that the Red Devils are admirers of De Jong, linked not so long ago by the Daily Mirror as being on his way to Manchester City for £61m
While these signings would not only strengthen two problem areas for United right away, it would also potentially set them up for the next decade or more
Both De Ligt and De Jong are undoubtedly up there with the finest young talents in the game right now and will likely have the pick of Europe's elite as they surely make a move either in January or next summer
Frenkie de Jong in action for Ajax If United can end their short-termist policy of signing established players like Alexis Sanchez and Nemanja Matic without much thought beyond the next year or two, they can finally start the process of building a proper team, rather than simply putting some big names together and hoping it works out before then needing to replace them not so long afterwards as it turns out they probably spent their peak years elsewhere
The same old names continue to be linked with Mourinho's side, with experienced pros like Willian and Ivan Perisic talked up as options out wide in the summer, along with Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng in defence (via AS among others)
While these players all undoubtedly have their qualities, they, like Sanchez and Matic, would only need replacing in a year or two
More Stories / Manchester United FC Liverpool and Manchester United eyeing £61m star being tipped for Premier League transfer November 19, 2018 20:35 Jose Mourinho instructs Manchester United to launch £71
2m bid to spoil Liverpool & Barcelona's transfer plans November 19, 2018 19:00 £197m star's father in transfer talks with Manchester United and two other clubs November 19, 2018 18:48 United need to have a vision, and a spine for years to come if they are to replicate the success of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, built around that homegrown chore of players like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and the Neville brothers
It would undoubtedly be wishful thinking for such a crop of academy players to all come through at once like that again, so spending around £132m on De Jong and De Ligt would probably be their best bet of replicating that
It will be interesting to see if these rumours hot up in the coming months, but United would certainly be wise to make this rumoured interest more concrete
