A new day on our worldbicycletour
In India!
We are around 300km north of New Delhi
In the foothills of the himalajas
We are here since...
Already some time! Already some time in the himalajas
We just come from the Spiti valley
Which is in the high mountain range of the himalajas
On over 4000m
We started there a week ago
Again in this direction
Unfortunately we couldn't go where we wanted
Because we got surprised by a snowstorm
But that's a different story
One week ago we came out of the high mountains
Where we had snow and where it was cold
And now, since yesterday
It's green again and warm!
We are at the Sutley river
Which you can see in the background
We are following it for quite some time now
The spring is a bit behind the indian border, in tibet
And we were about 10km away from the spring
And since then we are following the river
Out todays stage
Will continue next to the river
A little bit downhill
About 30km to the next bigger city, Suni
There we want to make lunch and do some groceries
And then we go back into the mountains
An uphill stage is coming then
To Shimla
That's the next big city where we want to go tomorrow
We have to go 2000m up in height for that
Today we want to do the half
Hopefully, and then tomorrow the other half
We'll see how far we get

Now we pack our tent, have breakfast
And then we start, have fun!

Breakfast was so delicious
In the last days i already had the mashed bananas
Because the bananas are so cheap and delicious here!
It's price per piece
One banana is 4 Rupees

Then 10 is 40 Rupees
20 Bananas is 80
80 Rupees is 1 Euro
So, 20 Bananas for 1 Euro
Which is quite cheap
Then the raisins are same price as in Germany
But they are really good!

And because of that they start to jostle
To take over at crazy spots

That you are the cooler guy
Because they normally can't
Because of the caste system and the huge amount of people
Because of the pressure of competition
Which is a big thing especially in the job sector
Here are just so many people
And everybody wants a piece of the cake
And it doesn't work so good
Because there are so many people
So i can imagine that it's linked to this
That the people in their car
As soon as they start their car become another person
And just doing stupid things in their car

This jobs you see a lot in indai
Jobs we don't have in germany

They are now in the middle of nowhere
And they are picking the weeds on the side of the road
Then sometimes we see
On a street like this

Like maybe ten people
Just sweeping the street
Sweeping the small stones off the road
We saw that a lot
We also see many people sitting on the side of the road

5 or 6 per family, sometimes more
That's not happening in China
So here it will continue to grow
And more and more people will be here

It's unbelivable
But it's not meant in a negative way

There is a really different mentality in India

When you go through a village withsome people

10, 20, 30 people around you
Watching you, touching you
Looking what you are doing
They can't realize
That you may want some privacy
Also when you are camping
Here it's okay
Here are not so many people
But in more crowded areas
There are sudenly 10 people
Standing around your tent and looking at you
Without saying a word
It's really interesting, it's such a different mentality
But so far, with the people, we hadn't negative situations
They are really friendly
We got some invitations for tea
Nice conversations
Definetely, very friendly
But different!
Another small village
Over there they dry the corn
And afterwards probably grounded
Here are ocras

We eat them often
Also quite cheap and delicious

All the trucks

It's more crowded

I really like the nature here
Also amazing how the nature changes here
Now we are in the jungle

We were in the mountains

Poha is a traditional indian dish
It's often served for breakfast
It's rice flakes
Which we'll prepare salty

Cut 2 chilli, 1 carrot and 1 onion
In the meantime, roast a handfull of peanuts
Traditionaly it's with potatoes
We don't have potatoes, so we do a variation
Actually you can take what you want
We take bell pepper, ocras
Tomatos and eggplant
Now we add curry
Now the rice flakes
Best thing is, they are ready super fast
We made this a lot in the mountains
Because on the higher altitudes things take longer to be cooked
And this is ok
