Let's go see what she's cooking.
She's getting ready to cook right over there.
Right now at first she's just pounding up
some chilies and garlic.
Oh yeah, there's a whole bag of green peppercorns here.
Oh, these are one of my favorite things
in the entire world.
I love them so much that I need to
take a bite of it right now.
And then she's pounding it now with the--
(speaking in foreign language)
Now she's pounding it up with the curry paste.
(loud crunching and pounding)

These are some big meaty frogs.
You can see those muscles on those hind legs.

I think she's not gonna mince it fully
but just kinda chop it up
into little bite size kinda pieces.
That is some really meaty frog.
Okay and as she is finishing chopping the frog,
I'm gonna snack on some green pepper.
(loud crunching)
I love it.
Oh, it's so spicy
when it's fresh like this.
And so much of a like pure pepper flavor.
Oh it's wonderful.
I can snack on this like popcorn.
It's so good.
And this one is spicy
but sometimes it can be spicier.
Like sometimes it can really,
oh okay, I can feel that burning down my throat now.
Lighting up that wok
and first goes in a bunch of oil.
Oh, a bunch of oil.
And then in goes all of that curry paste
and chilies and garlic that she pounded up.
Oh, that's like a, an oil bath.
That is gonna bring out some serious flavor.
(loud scraping and sizzling)
That curry paste and chilies is just kinda
sizzling in that oil for a little while
and she is washing some of the green peppercorns.
(speaking foreign language)

This aroma of frying chilies and garlic and curry paste
just never gets old.
It's one of the greatest aromas on earth.
And now goes in the frog,
all of that frog.
(loud scraping and sizzling)
(laughing)

And as that frog is cooking away
she's taking the leaves off some bai kaphrao
which is holy basil.
I'm gonna go ahead and stir up the frog.
Oh, this is gonna be oily and delicious.
(loud scraping and sizzling)
And she just said that if you add a lot of the holy basil
it will smell really good.
It will have a really nice fragrance.
And then in go all of those green peppercorns.
And then the final step is to add in all of the basil
and you always wanna add the basil at the end
and then immediately turn off the fire
or not cook it very long
because it will start to lose its flavor
as it cooks longer.
So you just wanna basically throw it in at the end
let it use the heat from the preexisting meat and oil
and things inside of the dish
and just let that holy basil wilt into the dish.
(loud scraping and sizzling)

That's a countryside style hot pad.
And it is ready.
She said it's fully cooked
and all that basil has just wilted down.
We're all sitting down for lunch now
and they also have a couple of other dishes
that Ying's mom and aunt made.
They're a selection of fried meats and fish.
This is the dried fried catfish.
This is another dried fried fish.
Some moo tod, which is fried pork.
And then I'm gonna, I'm gonna start with the frog though.
It's definitely on the oily side
but it looks and smells so good.
Oh, I gotta get some of that basil though too.
Big chunk of basil there.
Alright, let me start with this.
And I'm not sure, I think the best way
will just be to bite it, eat it,
and then remove the bones.
Oh yeah.
Or maybe you can just bite right through the bones.
Or maybe not.
It is pretty oily but that flavor is incredible.
The red chilies.
What I really like are the green peppercorns in there.
The garlic, the basil.
It's just a harmony of wonderful flavors
and even as much chili as is in there,
it's not extremely spicy.
But it just has a really wonderful chili fragrance.

Okay, I'm gonna start next with this fish
and even (speaking foreign language).
Yeah it is pla salid, which is some type of gourami
and fried like a chip.
Oh, like a serious chip.
Yeah, it's like a salty fish jerky.
You gotta really chew that up to get through those bones
but it is really good.
(cheerful ukulele music)
It's so good but
frog is something
you don't really wanna eat when you're in a hurry
'cause you have a lot of
eating around little bones to do.
But every bit that you get tastes so good.
Do I have some?
I'm trying to look at that screen.
I think I might have some chili oil on my chin
that got stuck on my chin.
But that was delicious food.
Eating frog is kind of like eating crab.
It's one of those things that you wanna leisurely eat
and you have to take your time eating.
You don't wanna eat it quickly
due to having to navigate your way around the little bones.
But the flavor that comes out of it,
frog is just delicious.
I love eating meals like that
where you're just sitting here.
And also just a quick cultural tip.
Often times in the countryside in Thailand,
they will cook up some dishes in the middle of the day
and then you'll eat
and then that food,
they'll save that food for later in the day,
maybe the next meal
or whenever you get hungry next.
But I am stuffed and ready to relax.
That was a great lunch.

And my mouth is on fire.
That was wonderful.
And then right behind the house,
there are a bunch of fruit trees
and I'm not sure of the name of the fruit in English
but it's a little berry like fruit.
And let me see if I can find one.
Oh there's one.

In Thai this is called dakob.
Oh, it's so sweet.
And the only reason I know what it tastes like already
because I've been snacking on them before lunch.
But it explodes very similar to a blueberry

I guess we did kind of get off to a rocky start, huh?
There had never been a gay teenager
represented on television, and I was 17 when I got that job.
So it was kind of a crazy situation to be thrown into.
And I also had come from pretty conservative-- you know,
I went to religious schools growing up.
So it was the early '90s.
People weren't as accepting.
So it was an interesting time to be a teenager myself
sort of learning who I was and then playing this role that
meant a lot to a lot of people, but also it was
controversial in some circles.
Was it tough socially?
I think I had some insecurities about it, maybe,
because I was a young guy.
But then once we started getting fan letters from parents
of gay teenagers or from gay teenagers
themselves saying that they had never seen someone
on TV that they could relate to and how much they had thought
about suicide and how this show made them think
differently and made them think positively,
that just flipped it for me.
Did your experience with that role change
how you viewed your career?
You know what, I think it did.
I think it did because once I started
getting opportunities after "I Know
What You Did Last Summer--"

We made it up the first Mountains
We are now on 110 m
But within 2 km or so, it was really steep!

Atlantic Ocean, not the Mediterranean Sea. We haven't been to the Mediterranean Sea yet!

So we have to solve a problem now
Just next to the road is a fig tree and they look delicious
But we can't reach them
I think i directly have to taste

Vía Verde del Ferrocarril Santander-Mediterráneo
It`s an old Railway line
And it's a lot longer than the cyclepath
And they want to make it a cyclepath the whole way
But until now only this part is finished
More or less... it's a gravel road
It's okay but could be better
But the rest of the Railway line isn't cycable at all
But they want to expand the cyclepath
And then it will go all the way from the Atlantic Ocean to Madrid
As far as i know
We've cycled 30 km by now, or?
We cycled 30 km and about 100 m uphill
On the Cyclepath which was really nice. Nice Landscapes!
And now we are at a spring, over there we have fresh water
And for Lunch we have 3 kg of fresh Peaches...Yeah!
Dinner is ready!

We've eaten everything, it was very delicious
We've counted everything and this was a total of about 4100 kcal
So it's about 2050 kcal per person
And we can hardly move, can we?

We've decided to stay here
We cycled something like 20 km today, 25 km but all the way uphill to 400 m
And now all the way to Portugal it's going downhill
So it doesn't really matter and we'll stay here for today
Pitch up our tent later, cook something to eat and relax at the pool
Just awesome!
This is a natural pool, fed by a spring
The water flows continuously into the pool and on the other side is a drain
So the water is exchanged continuously
It's total clear water without chlorine or something like that
We're cooking on a fire today for the first time
It's working good
We put two cans from Lunch as a platform for the pot

We had a very relaxing day with our two pools
When we pitch up our tent we have a house with two pools
Nobody was here today - awesome!
The last hours we had a poolparty here
And we made a campfire and then some strange villagers showed up
They told us to put out the fire
So we put out the fire and just kept on relaxing
A little later the Police showed up
And they tried to speak with us but nobody here speaks english. Thats a little bit strange
Also the young people don't speak english. I don't know if they don't learn it in school. No idea
But whatever, we have to take down our tent now, pack our stuff and leave the place
We shall go to the next hostel in about 4 km and sleep there

We cycled 10 km further and found a new campingspot

And they waited in a queue. It was incredible, we've never seen so many tomatos

when suddenly the back tube, which we just patched, started to loose air again

So we have to remove the back wheel again and put in a new tube. Yeah!!
We have all the equipment, no problem at all...
But somehow... Three flats and one exploded tyre in a row..? Exploded tube, not tyre
Nevertheless... good practice!
Cycled 60 km today and we found an awesome campingsite

Of course now in summer time we had delicious fruits

Madrid and Barcelona - Warmshowers!

We've met so nice people
And now we have about 10 kilometres left
Then we are back in France
For sure an explicit recommendation for cycling in Spain!

Even if it's ultra hot sometimes. In some cases up to 45°C
But you don't cycle then. You have to cycle in the morning and in the evening
Then it's good and awesome!

VILA | Slavic Mythology - Duration: 6:28.
There is no doubt that vila is the most popular and most famous of all creatures in Slavic
mythology, particulary in Serbian folklore.
Many suspect that Vilas were once demons of storms and bad weather and that only later
they gained feauters of mountain, forest, and water demons.
In them they see the remains of Greek nymphs.
Some ethnologists associate vile with Greek Nereids , other with Maeneds and some think
they primarily and only have Balkan origin.
The existence of a belief in the vila was documented by Procopius, the Greek historian
in the sixth century, A.D.
His record testifies that the South Slavs worshipped beings similar to Greek nymphs,
offering sacrifices to them.
Jan Machal, in a treatise on Slavic mythology, traced history of the vila in ancient writings
of Russians, South Slavs, and Czechs.
Machal explains the word vila is apparently coming from the root vel (perish) and to be
cognate with the Lithuanian veles (spirits of the deceased).
That creature quite similar to the vila which embodied restless spirits of the dead, appears
to have been a widespread idea among the Slavs: the Bulgarians identify their samovily as
the souls of unbaptized girls; the Slovaks think them to be the souls of brides who died
after betrothal; for the Poles, the wili are souls of beautiful girls "condemned to atone
for their frivolous lives by floating in the air midway between sky and earth."
The Russians say that the rusalka is a child who died unbap¬tized, drowned, or suffocated;
and in many Serbian legends the vila is the soul of a proud maiden who incurred the curse
of God.
In his dictionary Vuk Stefanović Karadžić describes Wila, which lived in stories, dreams,
fantasies of the people of his time He writes that Wilas, „were demons of nature
because it was believed that they ruled over a large part of it: mountains, streams, clouds,
etc.
Their supernatural power was concentrated in their hair or in Okrilje, an element of
dress descending from their head down their wings.
They were generally well-disposed toward humans unless some injury was done to them: if someone
fell on their beat, heard their song, or saw them bathing...
Then they would hunt them down, shoot them in the leg, or arm, or both legs and arms,
and sometimes even kill them."
Seeing a mythical creature bathing and its consequences, has parralels in other mythologies.
For example, prophet Tiresias lost his sight when he saw goddess Athena bathing.
In Slavic folklore someone who would see Wilas bathing would loose sight unless he steals
Wila's Okrilje, which she would take off before going into water.
In that case this man would become Wila's master, since he stripped her of all her powers
by taking Okrilje.
Wilas are mostly female, although there are male Wilas; they are called Vilenjak or Vilovnjak
and they became that because they came into some sort of contact with Wilas, thus gaining
certain powers that common people dont have.
If a Wila would nurse a human baby it was believed that baby would become strong and
healthy.
For many heroes of Serbian epic poetry it is said that they were breast fed by Wilas.
Machal reports that the vila originally lived in close contact with human beings, teaching
them to gather in the harvest, to feed cattle, and to build houses.
The responsibility for teaching mankind how to sow, plow, irrigate, and even how to bury
the dead belongs to the vila.
Close relations exist between them and mortals; every honest man has a vila as a sister who
will help him in times of need.
In some folk tales, the vile marry young men and will remain with them as faithful wives
and excellent homemakers on one condition: that they never be re¬minded of their descent,
in which case they would disappear forever.
When we are talking about birth of Wilas there are two most common tellings of how are they
born.
In the first, Wilas bore child from the first morning dew in the summer, and gave birth
in the winter.
The child was always female.
According to the second origin story, Wila is not born, but she emerges out of dew, or
out of trees and plants.
Vilas are depicted as very beautiful, tall, slim and with long, long hair, which also
has some powers, and which gives them strength.
It was believed that Vilas know plants, and nature in general, very well.
And they can use that knowledge to heal someone who is sick or injured, even to bring someone
from the dead.
There are many examples of Vilas healing heroes' wounds in Serbian epic poetry.
Most known of those heroes maybe is Prince Marko (Or Marko Kraljević).
Sometimes Vilas are his best friends, in one such poem Marko is wounded in battle and one
Vila came and: - Jumped quickly
- Went to look for all kinds of plants - Which heal wounded heroes
- And then healed all Marko's wounds.
My translation isn't perfect but im sure you got the point.
And sometimes Vilas did something harmful to Marko and he had to punish them.
One such poem is „Prince Marko and Vila", where Marko and his sworn brother Miloš are
riding together, and Vila Ravíyoyla shoots Miloš with two arrows, one went through his
heart and other through his throat.
Then Marko chased Vila, caught her, and smote her with his mace.
And then made her come back and heal Miloš, which she did.
She gathered herbs on Miroch, as she wandered to and fro,
And she called often: "My brother, I am coming from the field."
The vila gathered many an herb, and the hero's wounds she healed;
And the lordly throat of Milosh was better than before,
And the strong heart of the hero was stronger than of yore.
Although there are many differnet stories that describe Wilas in many different ways,
from their looks to their character, according to Čajkanović, one thing that is certain

if the person with me isn't that great at acting, or if it's someone else, and my conviction isn't quite as strong
that the other actor is that character in the story
I will be influenced by that person
so he does stimulate me in a way
and make me believe in myself more
and make my acting more real
how do I?
but for some other people, when I'm rehearsing with them, the reaction they give me is such that I'll get influenced..things like that
so how do I normally stimulate you?
how do you stimulate me, well...
that is... in the way you look at me..

based on what I know, sometimes while filming, actors might rehearse or go over scenes repeatedly
so you'll run through the lines, things like that
I feel that that's the time whereby you slowly get your emotions invested into the characters
actually those rehearsals are still fine
because this is how it is between the two of us, since we have more emotional scenes together
it is after all, not a big action film
if it's action, we require precision
but actually for emotional scenes, we..
it will become fake if we do it too many times

but because of other uncontrollable reasons, such as us going overseas, she might not be able to make it there in time

as for the difference in the way the camera behaves
for example, "lights off" is something which Milkey likes to do
but for example, our Yuanyuan will turn her head up (i.e. camera goes up), which means she's rolling her eyes

M: they use the camera differently to show their reactions, as to the "lights off" bit you are referring to I feel.. / W: and then when they are shaking their heads it's like this.
