Wearable DSLR with Stabilizer - What could go wrong? - Duration: 8:29.
By now, most of you guys know what a wearable gimbal is.
It's an electronic stabilizer that holds a GoPro, and gives you really smooth footage.
They're great for first person video, but arguably even better for filming other riders.
A shot of someone riding in front of you could look almost like it was filmed with a drone.
One limitation of wearable gimbals is that they only hold action cameras, which have
tiny lenses and tiny sensors.
I got to thinking; what if I could stabilize a big old camera and ride around with it?
That could be the ultimate follow cam.
Introducing the Seth's Bike Hacks 4000 chest mounted Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Stabilizer
Rig.
This is a combination of several GoPro brackets, an expensive handheld stabilizer, and one
late night in my office.
So, basically a whole bunch of stuff being used improperly.
Of course, the heart of this operation is the stabilizer, which is the Zhiyun Crane.
I convinced Zhiyun to send me one of these in exchange for some screen time, but I'm
not sure this is what they had in mind.
Almost immediately I noticed that the stabilizer was designed to turn very slowly.
It's also extremely heavy, and very easy to hit on the handlebars when leaning forwards.
So, the plan was to follow Zach carefully and try not to destroy
all my stuff.
At the time of filming we didn't realize how bad the wind noise would be with the camera's
internal microphone.
Looking back it makes sense.
Between the delay in steering and the bulkiness of the rig, it was starting to look like this
was a bad idea.
After a while though I started to get the hang of riding with it.
Staying on smoother trails helped too.
So although we got a few cool looking shots, I'm sorry to say that the Seth's Bike
Hacks 4000 is not the future of advanced follow cam technology.
No, it's probably better to use this handheld stabilizer the way it was designed—that
is handheld.
So, a lot of you guys are going to get what you've been asking for.
Some video clips of me sessioning crap around the trails.
First we tried this gap from the lip of this tabletop.
I guess the landing area is supposed to be a berm for bypassing the jump.
I didn't throw my weight right on the first try.
It would have been nice to have some clouds, but I'm still pretty happy with this shot.
Now it's worth noting that Florida mountain bike trails are often a mix of manmade jumps,
wooden features, and remnants of failed public works projects.
This can be a negative or a positive depending on your riding style.
That explains this patch of concrete, which gave a pretty nice kick.
It even looked possible to 360.
Not the nicest 360's ever, but the videography looked awesome.
Next we went to this narrow wooden camel hump thing.
Yeah I
cased it a little bit, but whatever, I'll take it.
As a test run with my new toy I'd say it was highly successful.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this video even though we didn't accomplish what we originally
set out to do.

Here's your weekly dose of inspiration to build a creative habit.
One drawing at a time.
Brought to you by Sketchbook Skool
To make art, you don't need any particular art supplies.
You can get a lot done with stuff around the house or at the office.
For example, post-it notes are great for drawings!
You can use them to note down ideas, practice lettering, leave illustrated love notes or
messages.
But why not use them to draw on?
Practice your skills, using a simple ballpoint pen, and pick a subject that you think is
kind of hard to draw.
Not drawing it in your art journal takes the pressure off - it doesn't need to be perfect,
because the post-it note is disposable.
And if the drawing works out fine, you can stick it in your sketchbook anyway.
Why not?
Or practice your blind drawing skills.
Draw a one liner of yourself, a family member, or when you're at the office, of a colleague.
It's a fun way of 'doodling' your way through meetings, for example.
Practice your hatching, experiment with background texture and framing.
Focus on negative spaces and draw those.
Again, if the drawing doesn't work out, it's fine.
If it does, it's fine too.
Or have some fun and play with stop motion - old skool!
Create motion by drawing a small movement, using each note of your post-it stack as the
next frame.
Then flip through your drawings and watch your animation!
You can make this really simple, making a blob move like I did here, or creating a character
or other kind of shape and create its own post it adventure!
Hopefully this has given you a few ideas.

In this video, I'll go over our Dashboard's filter options.
And then I'll combine dashboard items into groups.
I already have a dashboard designer that's connected to data for website statistics.
First, I'll add a chart.
Then drag the Count field to the Values Section.
Change series type to Stacked Spline Area.
Then drag the Date field to the Arguments section and change the group interval to Month-Year.
Finally, drag the TrafficSource field to a chart's Series section.
The Chart will display website statistics by traffic sources over time.
Add the Tree View filter by clicking on its button.
Bind the Tree View to the TrafficSource and TrafficSourceDetails fields.
Go to the Design ribbon tab and enable the Auto Expand option.
The tree view will display a hierarchy of values defining traffic sources.
You can filter the Chart by checking & unchecking parent or child nodes in the Tree View.
Now let's add a dashboard item group by clicking the button here.
Then, drag and drop the Chart and Tree View to a group.
Select a group and go to the Data ribbon tab to make sure that the Ignore Master Filters
option is enabled.
This allows you to isolate dashboard items contained within the group from being filtered
using external master filter items.
Add another group that will contain website statistics by browsers.
Create a Chart and drag this item to the second group.
To visualize browser statistics, drag the Count field to the Values section, Then the
Browser and Browser Details fields - to the Arguments section.
Enable coloring by hue for the first argument.
The Chart will display browser statistics by version.
Now let's add a Combo Box and drag it to the group.
Drag the Browser field to the Dimensions data section.
Then, add the List Box dashboard item to the group and bind it to the BrowserDetails data
source field.
Disable the Ignore Master Filters option to allow a list box to be filtered by a Combo
Box filter element.
You can filter chart data by selecting the required browser in the combo box and corresponding
version in the list box.

Wearable DSLR with Stabilizer - What could go wrong? - Duration: 8:29.By now, most of you guys know what a wearable gimbal is.
It's an electronic stabilizer that holds a GoPro, and gives you really smooth footage.
They're great for first person video, but arguably even better for filming other riders.
A shot of someone riding in front of you could look almost like it was filmed with a drone.
One limitation of wearable gimbals is that they only hold action cameras, which have
tiny lenses and tiny sensors.
I got to thinking; what if I could stabilize a big old camera and ride around with it?
That could be the ultimate follow cam.
Introducing the Seth's Bike Hacks 4000 chest mounted Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Stabilizer
Rig.
This is a combination of several GoPro brackets, an expensive handheld stabilizer, and one
late night in my office.
So, basically a whole bunch of stuff being used improperly.
Of course, the heart of this operation is the stabilizer, which is the Zhiyun Crane.
I convinced Zhiyun to send me one of these in exchange for some screen time, but I'm
not sure this is what they had in mind.
Almost immediately I noticed that the stabilizer was designed to turn very slowly.
It's also extremely heavy, and very easy to hit on the handlebars when leaning forwards.
So, the plan was to follow Zach carefully and try not to destroy
all my stuff.
At the time of filming we didn't realize how bad the wind noise would be with the camera's
internal microphone.
Looking back it makes sense.
Between the delay in steering and the bulkiness of the rig, it was starting to look like this
was a bad idea.
After a while though I started to get the hang of riding with it.
Staying on smoother trails helped too.
So although we got a few cool looking shots, I'm sorry to say that the Seth's Bike
Hacks 4000 is not the future of advanced follow cam technology.
No, it's probably better to use this handheld stabilizer the way it was designed—that
is handheld.
So, a lot of you guys are going to get what you've been asking for.
Some video clips of me sessioning crap around the trails.
First we tried this gap from the lip of this tabletop.
I guess the landing area is supposed to be a berm for bypassing the jump.
I didn't throw my weight right on the first try.
It would have been nice to have some clouds, but I'm still pretty happy with this shot.
Now it's worth noting that Florida mountain bike trails are often a mix of manmade jumps,
wooden features, and remnants of failed public works projects.
This can be a negative or a positive depending on your riding style.
That explains this patch of concrete, which gave a pretty nice kick.
It even looked possible to 360.
Not the nicest 360's ever, but the videography looked awesome.
Next we went to this narrow wooden camel hump thing.
Yeah I
cased it a little bit, but whatever, I'll take it.
As a test run with my new toy I'd say it was highly successful.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this video even though we didn't accomplish what we originally
set out to do.
