If there is one thing that's always classy,
whether in cinema or research, it has to be slow-motion.
So today our Science 2.0 will become a bit more technical
and we'll take a look deep into how high-speed cameras work.
In order to understand, we need to start on a good basis.
A video, whether it be a movie or the one you're currently watching,
is simply a sequence of still images.
In this case, this one is at 25 frames per second (fps), the PAL standard.
So the camera that's filming me right now captures 25 frames in 1 second,
and what you see is just the sequence of those images, put end to end.
A high speed camera will actually take many more frames per second.
And even if it seems counter-intuitive, you'll see that it's actually very logical.
Let's take an example with this sequence.
If you want to slow it down, you need to decrease the playback rate,
but it quickly becomes jerky and you don't see much more information.
Now, assume this camera is running at a speed of 2500fps.
In the amount of time a normal camera would take only a single new frame,
this one has time to capture 100.
So if you slow this new video down to 25fps,
the result with still be smooth and now you can see all the details of the action.
Now that we understand the principle, we need to try it out,
but there are still a lot of things to know about high speed cameras.
So, first thing that is super important to know,
a high-speed camera absolutely doesn't run like a regular one where you just hit record and then stop.
It runs with a Buffer, which is basically RAM memory,
that will be filled little by little by frames recorded permanently,
and when you trigger the camera, it only records - say 8, or a couple seconds before you pushed.
Yes, it only records for a few seconds, because generally,
2 or 3 seconds of video equals several tens of gigs of files, really.
So without further adieu, a little demonstration with a water balloon, classic.
So now I'm going to start recording...
Now the Chronos is constantly saving new frames and erasing the past, so when I pop the balloon...
I have 8 seconds to trigger the camera, or the images will shift into the memory and disappear.
This is why you often see people run to stop the camera.
Let's see what it looks like.
Right now the video's only in RAM preview, so it's not properly saved.
Here we have the whole video, and as you can se we can scroll
up to the moment, here, where it bursts.
Usually what we do is set an in-point to the video, and a little further an out-point,
and we'll save only this portion, which makes our final video.
Oh yeah..! That's so awesome!
Every high speed operator's worst nightmare.
Light.
These cameras need a ton, there's never too much light when filming in high speed.
And it's even worse when you increase the frame-rate, inevitably.
When you shoot, there's whats called Shutter speed,
it is basically the amount of time during which light can hit the sensor
and thus the image is taken.
When shooting at 25fps, you can set a maximum shutter speed of 1/25s,
because then the next frame comes.
So when you shoot at 10,000fps...
You can't go higher than 1/10,000th of a second, so that lets even less light in. And still!
Shutter speed is usually set as low as possible
to get images as sharp as possible, otherwise you'll end up with motion blur.
Picture yourself the capture of a frame as a disk with a spinning bar.
When they say that the shutter is set to "360°"
it means that light is capture during the full cycle of each frame.
Usually on TV / documentaries, it's set to 180° which is half the frame interval.
But it you want to capture projectiles, explosions or stuff like that,
you need to go down to 30° or even lower.
So imagine shooting at 10,000fps and capturing light during...
a tenth of a 1/10,000th of a second.
Yeah right, you need 3 suns, 2 spotlights and 4 reflectors.
But this light doesn't only need to be powerful,
it overall needs to be continuous.
Because household electrical current is alternative, so if you use regular neon lights,
you will see them flicker at 50 or 60Hz - impossible.
To remedy that, you need to either use LED lights that use DC current,
or big spotlights called HMIs, with a ballast that will provide flicker-free lighting.
Friends, I'm sorry I have to crush your dreams. A high speed camera...
Never captures sound.
TAM. TAM. TAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
Never.
It never records sound.
I'm gonna show you something.
This is a big microphone. This is a big glass blottle.
I'm going to smash it, film at 3,200fps
and slow sound down the sound just as much as the video, you'll see how absurd it is.
Smashing a bottle and recording sound in slow-motion...Go.
It messed up, I'll do another one.
And triggered!
Now, admire.
So next time that you think the sound is great, think of the hours spent on editing.
And brooming.
So I believe we get it now, that high speed is cool but also very capricious.
So what makes a high speed camera more powerful than another?
To compare them, there's a unit called the gigapixel per second (Gpx/s).
It is basically the number of billions of pixels the camera is capable of saving in one second.
In this case, the Chronos 1.4 captures 1.4 billion per second,
to compare, my friend Stéphane's Phantom is capable of shooting 3.2Gpx/s -
[Stéphane] Eeeh turn on your brain!
- and the most powerful of all... This one...
Runs at 25Gpx/s. There you go.
Some day, some day...
And this number of pixels per second is set in the camera and constant no matter the settings.
That means if you want to double the frame-rate you capture,
you also need to split in half the amount of pixels in each frame.
For instance, say you can capture 1000 x 500 at 5,000fps
if you want to shoot at 10,000fps, you need to crop down to 1000 x 250.
We always hear about Phantom but tons of other models exist;
Olympus makes high-speed cameras, Fastec, Photron...
And the Chronos 1.4, which has the advantage of being affordable.
A Phantom like the one my friend Stéphane has costs €70,000, yes it does.
And the biggest Phantom I was talking about?
Oh, betweet €180k and €220k...
Well that's cool and all but this video needs one more thing... Some slow-mo!
Alright, here's a little compilation of what I got to shoot with this camera,
and everything you've seen in slow-motion on my channel.
[Stéphane] Ok now I'm taking 20 years...
[Laughter]
[Baptiste] Look at your face!
[Stéphane] You've got the cheeks... I think your cheeks drop a lot.
[Laughter]
[Baptiste] Oh my, look at that little smile!
This is the last thing I'll see, I'll see the light!
[Laughter]
I can't feel my toes!
Thank you everybody for watching this high-speed special Science 2.0 !
Big thanks to David Kronstein for lending me this camera,
which doesn't even exist yet but really impressive.
Don't forget to Like, subscribe and Share the video if you enjoyed it!
Thanks.
Merry Science to you!

5 Reasons To Carry A Multi Tool On MTB Rides - Duration: 3:13.
- The multi-tool it contains almost every tool
you're gonna need to get yourself out
of a sticky situation on the trail.
So these are the top five reasons you should
carry a multi-tool when you ride.
Number one there's so many things that could
go wrong with your bike
when you're out on the tail.
So don't be that one person in the group
that doesn't carry a multi-tool.
- Sorry Neil, have you got a multi-tool?
- Again?
- Yeah, I just, you know making sure
my headset, my stem and all that is all tight.
Oh Neil, Neil, have you got a multi-tool
with a five mm on it?
Ah, cheers, Neil.
That was spot on, thank you.
Neil, have you got a multi-tool
I could borrow again?
- No.
One of the most common problems
your gonna run into on the trail
is a loose headset.
Now it's not the end of the world ridding
with a loose headset but it's not going
to feel very nice at all
if your forks rattling around.
It makes the bike feel really rough.
So get out your multi-tool.
All you need to do is undo the pinch bolts
on the side of the stem and tighten
down the stem top cap.
Put a bit more pressure on those bearings.
Re-tighten up your stem bolts
and away you go.
Whilst I'm turning this top cap,
to tighten up the headset,
I'm gonna check that by grabbing my front brake
and rocking the bike back and forth.
Hopefully not feel any movement in there.
Then picking up the front wheel
and it should turn freely.
If it's too tight you'll feel those bearings
binding a little bit.
Feels good to me.
Probably the most common trail side
mechanical problem is a puncture.
Your not always gonna need a multi-tool
to fix this, however in my case
I need an allen key to remove the wheel
and also if the tyre's really tight on the wheel
you might need a tyre lever to get it off.
Luckily, my multi-tool has both.
Now a broken chain is a bit of a terminal problem.
Obviously you can't pedal anywhere if it snapped.
And there isn't anywhere to bogan one.
So this could be pretty serious
if you're out in the middle of nowhere.
Now not every multi-tool has a chain tool on it,
but I would definitely consider getting one
especially for those longer rides.
Now the last good reason to carry
a multi-tool with you when you ride
is to experiment with your settings.
Some shocks and forks need a little allen key
to adjust the rebound or compression.
Or even simple things like just adjusting
the angles of your brake levers.
It's much easier to try different things
on the trail to change it then and there.
And you're much more likely to forget about it
when you go home.
And one more great use for multi-tool
is that post ride beer.
Cheers.
- Neil, you've still got that multi -tool?
- If you want to see more ideas from
come here to subscribe.
Take down now for how to fix puncture.
Over there. - Neil, I fixed the chain.
Ah man.
(giggles)
Cheers, Neil.
Oh and he left the multi-tool.
Wow.

Billy on the Street - The New York Bubble with Stephen Colbert! - Duration: 5:55.
Hey guys, this is Emmy award-winner Stephen Colbert.
and I'm proudly elitist, gay, Jewish, liberal,
native New Yorker, piece of... snowflake Billy Eichner.
And we're about to hit the streets to ask New Yorkers
what it feels like to live in our so-called New York bubble
and if they have any messages they want Stephen Colbert
to give to our new president,
Donald Trump.
-Are you ready, Stephen? -Whoo!
Let's go.
Sir, Stephen Colbert.
Hey.
Hi. How are you, sir?
Good to see you. Hi.
Nice to see you, too.
Are you a New Yorker?
I am.
Where do you live?
I live in the East Village.
Okay great.
So we're talking to New Yorkers, right
we're being told that we live in a New York bubble
we don't know what's happening in the rest of America
Any message you want Stephen Colbert to deliver to Donald Trump?
Uh, I think that it's... it's interesting that
we're told that we live in a bubble because
we're from all different places, like most of us
are escaping from some other part of America
to come here, so we know
we know, we know the real America
pretty intimately by and large
Okay, great. Is there any message
you want to send out there to people in "real America"
about New York City?
Some of the kindest people in the world live here.
Some of the most open-hearted people in the world live here.
We're not all rich, we're not all --
Well, speak for yourself.
Miss, it's Stephen Colbert!
Hey, hi!
Hi, Stephen Colbert. I live in your neighborhood.
Do you watch Stephen Colbert?
I do.
Okay, so Stephen Colbert's on every night, as you know.
You're a New Yorker?
Yes.
Did you grow up here?
I grew up --
I was born in Manhattan,
grew up in Rockland County.
-There you go. -Perfect.
Real New Yorker.
So, we want -- Stephen, get back here!
He tried to go back to Comedy Central.
Yeah, if only!
[ Laughs ]
Okay, now, listen, we're trying to ask New Yorkers
if there's a message they would like Stephen Colbert
to send to Donald Trump.
What would that be?
Oh, you got to dig to go a little deeper in your soul
and not be...such a...
shallow creep.
-Shallow creep. -Shallow creep. Okay.
-Yeah. -Yeah.
What issues concern you most of all?
What are you scared of right now?
Um, I'm actually very concerned
about the people he's bringing into his cabinet.
He's opening Pandora's box,
and, um...
He actually grabbed Pandora's box
without asking permission.
Oh, my God!
Miss, for a dollar, what's the first word
that comes to mind when I say "Donald Trump"?
Golden shower.
Okay, thank you.
-Golden shower. -Golden shower, yeah.
Miss, congratulations. You're now part
of the New York liberal elite.
Oh, my God! That's great!
Here. Congratulations.
Thank you.
This is Stephen Colbert.
Oh, my God!
Hi.
Hi, Stephen!
Hi. Hey. Hi. Hey.
Okay, excuse me! I'm here, too!
Miss, I'm so sorry. What does it feel like
to be an elitist New York piece of...?
It feels awesome.
Thank you.
Miss, would you sign this goodbye card?
I would love to sign this goodbye card.
Okay. Here's a pen.
We're saying goodbye to the freedom of the press.
If you could just sign that goodbye card.
Want to use my back?
Oh, yeah, that's just great. Thank you.
And is there any message
you want Stephen Colbert to send to Donald Trump?
In the 18 years I've existed,
I've never been more disappointed.
In what?
Our country.
Any other issues concern you?
I mean,
where do I get started?
I have to go to class, but I could literally --
That's good. You need to get an education.
I do.
What are you studying?
She wrote, "Rest in peace, America."
Oh, that's nice.
Well, thank you very much.
It was nice meeting you.
Did you vote this year?
Was this
your first time voting?
I did vote this year.
Gary Johnson?
[ Laughs ] No. Hillary.
Hillary. Yeah, she lost.
I know.
We're all very sad about that.
And what are you studying, by the way?
Animation.
Wow.
Oh, great.
Miss, it's Stephen Colbert.
Hi, Stephen Colbert.
Is there any message you'd like Stephen Colbert
to send to Donald Trump if he can?
"Please don't take away my health insurance"?
Is that your main concern?
Yes.
You're on Obamacare?
Mm-hmm.
And do you like it?
I do.
Okay, it's helped you?
Yes.
And are you a New Yorker?
I am.
And a lot of people say that we in New York,
that we're living in a New York bubble,
that this election was a sign
that we're out of touch with "real America."
What do you say about that?
They have a little bit
of a point.
We live in a little bit of an echo chamber,
and we would do well to keep our ears open.
But it is not --
That doesn't mean that our concerns aren't valid.
Doesn't mean it's a bad bubble.
Yeah.
It's a good bubble.
It's a good bubble.
It's the best bubble.
It's an inclusive bubble.
Yes, an inclusive bubble. At least, it wants to be.
And if there are people out there
who've maybe never been to New York
or they only know New York from what they see on TV
or what they see on cable news,
what would you say to those people about New York City?
Come visit us.
I've dropped my phone on the streets of New York
three times
since I've lived here.
And every single time, it's been returned to me.
Boom!
You know what, Stephen? I think these people are right.
I like being
in my New York bubble.
It's the best bubble. I even want to be --
I want to be in a smaller bubble.
Will you help me
get in a smaller bubble?
I will do anything you say!
Okay, we're going into my bubble!
Thank you so much.

Hey rookies, I'm Denielle Ricci with the Universal Orlando Blog, and I'm going to share with you 5 tips on how to get a high score on Men In Black: Alien Attack. Let's go!
I make this look good.
Alright rookies, here's my first tip.
Press and hold the trigger. The gun continuously fires throughout the ride and you automatically get points.
Tip number two. There are special aliens throughout the ride that are worth more points.
These guys are usually smaller and hidden. Sometimes only glowing eyes.
Tip number three. Once you've found an alien, keep shooting it, you'll rack up more points.
This is tip number four.
After your vehicle is scanned, you'll be told to shoot at the other vehicle's exhaust port.
It's the blue light atop of your vehicle. And once hit, will give you major point action.
Tip number five. Press the red button. Simple and easy!
As you round the corner and see the giant bug at the end, Zed will come on and tell you to press the red button.
This will blow up the big bug and automatically give you 100,000 points.
And there you have it. A few tips on how to get a high score on Men In Black: Alien Attack.
Don't worry. If you don't get it at first, you'll get there eventually.
After all, it takes practice and skill to become the galaxy defender.
I'll see you guys out here.
Oh, one more thing before I go. Per standard procedures, I'm gonna have to ask you guys to look right here. Sorry.

Trump's Health and Human Services secretary pick Rep. Tom Price faces heat for insurance company... - Duration: 2:34.
Three more of President Trump's cabinet picks received green lights from various Senate committees Tuesday, as another faced an intense second grilling on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), Trump's choice to be his Health and Human Services secretary, was hammered during a hearing before the Senate Finance Committee over revelations he had purchased health care stocks as a congressman before introducing legislation that could help those companies.
"Set aside the legal questions," Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), said during the hearing. "It's hard to see how this can be anything but a conflict of interest and an abuse of his position."
Last week, during his first hearing before the Senate Health Committee, Price had admitted he personally had bought some of the stocks in question, including one deal in which he was one of 20 people who got to privately buy stock in a company partly owned by a fellow congressman.
rIt was revealed that Price purchased health care stocks as a congressman before introducing legislation that could help those companies.
(CARLOS BARRIA/REUTERS)
Republicans have defended Price and Trump spokespersons have said the stocks had been purchased by a broker and that Price had no knowledge of the purchases himself.
Price, who as the Health and Human Services secretary would play an instrumental role in efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare, was also repeatedly asked about Trump's vague Day One executive order that granted federal agencies the power to "waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay" any provisions in the Affordable Care Act that could impose "cost, fee, tax, penalty or regulatory burden" on individuals, health care providers, insurers or states."
But Price danced around questions over whether the order would result in people losing their Obamacare coverage, saying only that the eventual proposal that would replace the law would "put patients at the center of health care."
The Senate Banking Committee voted to approve Trump's nomination of Ben Carson as his Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
(Alex Wong/Getty Images)
Meanwhile, three other of Trump's choices were approved by Senate committees.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation voted Tuesday morning to approve the nomination of Elaine Chao as Transportation secretary, while the Senate Commerce Committee approved Wilbur Ross, Trump's pick to lead the Commerce Department.
The Senate Banking Committee also voted to approve Trump's nomination of Ben Carson as his Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Gov. Nikki Haley R-S.C.) arrives at her Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Trump nominated her as the U.S. representative to the United Nations.

All three still must face full Senate votes for confirmation.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday delayed a vote on the confirmation of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), whom Trump picked to be his attorney general, until Jan. 31.

Jack Ma Accuses The US Of Spending $14 Trillion On War Instead Of Its People - Duration: 3:54.
Jack Ma Accuses The US Of Spending $14 Trillion On War Instead Of Its People
by Tyler Durden
In a CNBC clip, which slipped between the cracks last week, Alibaba founder Jack Ma,
who has been busy trying to get into Donald Trump's "circle of trust", spoke in Davos
and blamed the problems of the United States on the United States itself, as a country
which has spent trillions of dollars to wage war, instead of investing in infrastructure
and its own people.
Asked by Andrew Ross Sorkin about Trump's decision to impose new tariffs on Chinese
imports to protect domestic American manufacturers, Ma said blaming China for any economic issues
in the U.S. is misguided.
If America is looking to blame anyone, Ma said, it should blame itself.
"It's not that other countries steal jobs from you guys," Ma said.
"It's your strategy.
Distribute the money and things in a proper way."
According to Ma, the US wasted over $14 trillion in fighting wars over the past 30 years rather
than investing in infrastructure at home.
Ma named this as the main reason that the US economy is weakening.
Ma was not the only critic of the costly U.S. policies of waging war against terrorism and
other enemies outside the homeland, however, the Alibaba founder said this was the reason
America's economic growth had weakened, not China's supposed theft of jobs.
In fact, Ma called outsourcing a "wonderful" and "perfect" strategy.
"The American multinational companies made millions and millions of dollars from globalization,"
Ma said.
"The past 30 years, IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, they've made tens of millions the profits
they've made are much more than the four Chinese banks put together.
... But where did the money go?"
One answer: a couple of offshore bank accounts, or - now that Rothschild is managing Nevada
tax havens - onshore.
He added that the U.S. is not distributing or investing its money properly, and that's
why many people in the country feel wracked with economic anxiety.
Ma added that too much money flows to Wall Street and Silicon Valley.
Instead, the country should be helping the Midwest, and Americans "not good in schooling,"
too.
At least in theory, much of this forms the basis of Trump's policies.
"You're supposed to spend money on your own people," Ma said.
"Not everybody can pass Harvard, like me."
In a previous interview, CNBC said that Ma said he had been rejected by Harvard 10 times.
Along those lines, Ma stressed that globalization is a good thing, but it, too, "should be inclusive,"
with the spoils not just going to the wealthy few.
"The world needs new leadership, but the new leadership is about working together," Ma
said.
"As a business person, I want the world to share the prosperity together."

7 Easy, Delicious Smoothies / 7 Batidos Saludables y Ricos - Duration: 8:35.
oh oh oh oh well hold on
oh ok I huh what's going on guys and
welcome back to the fit man cook
channel so i pretty much ruin element of
surprise but today's video is about
smoothies, smoothies are a great easy and
very practical way to get your daily
serving of fresh veggies and fruits and
the people always ask me kid what's
better for you
smoothies or juices smoothies are
probably gonna have a lot more of the
fiber and vitamins now they both have a
nutritional impact but you have to
incorporate a lot more other veggies and
fruit in order to match the amount of
fiber and vitamins that you would just
get just from blending something
together personal standpoint i preferred
Juices because i don't like drinking
stick things even when i was a kid i
would put water inside the orange juice
it was way too thick
today we're making seven of my favorite smoothies
these are not low-carbon keto friendly
so calm down all right but if
that's something that's really important
to you I invite you to play around with
the recipes are playing around with your
own and then share those down below in
the comments section so we could all
learn from you and your expertise one
thing that I've done to make a lot of my
smoothies dairy-free is to substitute
out the whole milk or some heavy cream
and substitute in coconut cream of
coconut cream is different from the
coconut milk that you buy in the carton
coconut cream is made from basically
boiling are simmering the coconut meat
and then getting all of the fat part in
putting that into a can
the fat ET part that we love so much
from the coconut so keep in mind that
even though it's very free it is not a
calorie-free and it's not low calorie
because coconut contains a very healthy
fat that will give you lasting energy
for the day so keep that in mind
so if you are ready to roll up your
sleeve and to get your hands dirty or
as a dirty as can be by throwing stuff into a
blender and then let's get started
so the first movie that we're going to
make today is a cocoa net duty because
it combines two of my favorite things
chocolate and almond butter
so you get their cocoa in that like
Coco's it's not within that limit will
get it later
now i really enjoyed this one after a
nice hard work out because what is tastier
after a nice hard work out than
banana and since its post workout you
should feel free to boost the level of
protein in there by adding and your own
chocolate or vanilla flavored protein or
you could even add into the unflavored
protein such as peptide check it out at
frozen banana almond butter the cow
powder or dark chocolate powder vanilla
extract almond milk and honey for a
little sweetness
next we are making a pineapple cream pie
smoothie
we are swapping out the heavy cream in
the whole milk for coconut cream if
this is going to boost the caloric
content of this smoothie this smoothie is
great for any time a day but i really
enjoy it around at 3pm time where I'm
meeting a pick-me-up because i am
dragging take it out at fresh pineapple
coconut creams ginger coconut milk and a
little cinnamon
next we are making a very breakfast
parfait smoothie imagine taking all of
your favorite parts of a very tasty
parfait and then putting into a blender and
making this amazing smoothie we are
boosting the protein content by adding
greek jogurt slightly reducing the
sugar in this recipe by not adding and
granola we're going to use oats instead
and we are also using frozen berries
instead of fresh berries but this allows
the smoothie to be very cold and creaming
without adding an ice which tends to water
down your smoothie, add greek yogurt frozen
blueberries frozen raspberry raw almonds
both vanilla extract and almond
next up we are making a wonderful green v8 smoothie
if your family a popular tomato-based VA
drinks out there then you will likely
enjoy this one because you get to pick
your own this one is going to be green
instead of red because we are swapping
the lettuce and using spinich if its good
enough for popeyes its good enough for
our diets right i'm also using a no salt
tomato sauce for this smoothie in order
to improve the texture and give it a
much more consistent base oh you're really
all about flavor did you may consider
swapping out some of the water for a few
tablespoons of vegetables
toss some spinach cherry tomatoes cucumber
carrots celery garlic cilantro or
parsley tomato sauce green onion and sea
salt and pepper for in some water as it blends
and if you want some heat top it off
with a little tabasco
next we are having a sweet green smoothie i love this smoothie
because it incorporates two more my
favorite foods
avocado and also matcha green tea
if you use the matcha green tea powder
when you get a much more concentrated
dose of the benefits of matcha green tea
and it helps to boost your immunity it
helps to enhance the metabolism
it's a stress reducer even got
cancer-fighting properties so I mean all
around it's just a great incorporation
into your diet
one thing to note is that when you add
avocado too including it makes it really
really really think so if you don't like
that then you should add a little bit
more of the almond milk or coconut milk
in this recipe and to thin it out some
add spinach avocado Kiwi vanilla
extract matcha green tea powder almond
milk and raw honey for that sweet sweet flavor
next we are making an orange cream smoothie
if you were born in the eighties
and nineties then you may remember
getting those orange cream popsicles
those were oh but the orange part were
using real orange and off of cantaloupe
we're using the coconut cream again and
i'm also talking in a little bit of one
of my favorite seasonings which is
turmeric turmeric is going to give this
a hint of a ginger flavor without
actually adding in ginger but it's also
going to give it this vibrant
golden-yellow color remember that turmeric
is a natural anti-inflammatory as well
at fresh orange callow coconut cream
vanilla extract turmeric and coconut milk
and last but not least we're making a
berry mint smoothie
it kind of reminds me of those fast-food
slushies are those lines that you would
get with actually reminds me if you have
things like fresh lemons or fresh limes
you should definitely squese some of that
juice into this smoothie because it's
only going to enhance the flavors
add frozen blueberries fresh
blackberries a little bit of mint ginger
and top it off with icy cold water
now that concludes today's video I want
to thank you for watching before you log
off remember to post your favorite
smoothie recipe below so that we can

ways if you have any questions you can
contact me at my views extended @
gmail.com and i will get back to you as
soon as possible and as always only
links to all social media sites in the
show notes and description area this
past weekend i watch the inauguration of
Donald Trump and well there's really not
much to say I think everything that I
wanted to say has been said and even
things that I didn't want to say or
didn't agree with which is cool has been
said he's in power officially so you
know how he's currently there's not much
that can be done
although like i said before i don't
think that he will make two years let
alone the full four years I really do
believe that he's gonna bow out or he
will get impeached and bow out
I mean he's leaving himself in his
business just enough so you know there
will be some sort of quote mess up
unquote and that will be one of his many
ways out of the office I don't think I
still think he's in disbelief that he
actually made it and I don't know if he
realizes yet how much even though he's a
businessman I don't think that he
realizes how much work and pressure and
stress there is honor that's a different
kind of
magnifying glass being a businessman you
a reality who has a reality show vs
being the president of the united states
and the citizens watching you and the
rest of the world watching you that's
just a different category
yeah it should be interesting i think
it's kids are probably more excited his
eldest children first three are
definitely more excited to go to him
being there then he is anyway
oh yeah and of course there's the
pleading ignorance or you know when it
comes to his ways of getting out of
there pleading ignorance or flat-out no
saying he didn't he knows nothing of
what is going on and what I've got on
and what the powers that be are talking
about
so yeah two years I given two years if
you make four years at all the
interesting but I don't think it will be
four years and all of this of course is
my opinion and yeah
latias outfit was beautiful i was
absolutely color was beautiful the style
was beautiful and all our people are
saying that she coffee Jackie O style
and so what if she did jackie was a
dapper dresser yeah fashion will always
recycle itself and that's okay well the
good fashion and my opinion what is a
good fashion anyway you know Milania job
as a trophy wife is to look pretty and
put together good dinners and functions
so you let her have the fashion it's not
that big of a deal
I'm sure she's probably even more
surprised than her husband that he is
now the president of the united states
there is also a vancouver women's march
/ anti-trump march in solidarity with
the march against rapping in the US and
many other countries participated along
with Canada this past weekend and I did
not go for two main reasons one was I do
not like large crowds although i'm
working on that but me in large crowds
just we don't mix and I knew about it
too late
literally I heard rumblings about it in
the morning and by the time I sat down
and have my coffee and my breakfast and
deciding you know what i was going to do
for the day it was like oh that's too
late by the time I got to somewhere
downtown vancouver wherever wherever it
was it would have been half over
but I'm okay with not going i'm kind of
glad I listened to myself and then I
didn't go because later finding out
later on that evening and then
next day that there was the exclusion of
two huge groups that the main Marsh was
about to marginalized group and that was
the blacklivesmatter and the LGBTQ
community sheet of the vancouver bc area
and two groups of many have course there
are many other groups of two groups that
Trump and and/or his administration has
been against from the beginning of the
campaign
well even before before the campaign and
definitely until today both of these
groups for left field of the March
healing and when it comes to leadership
and speaking at the March and both
groups were more than willing to be a
participant in it and the Vancouver with
Miss March group seems to be so far what
they're showing are not showing on their
social media pages if he was to be doing
a lot of backpedaling or just a lot of
backpedaling and trying to cover their
butts but I'm not really surprised that
these other minority groups for left out
I'm sure many of you are not surprised
either and when it comes the group's
lead being left out of course there were
no other there they were no Elise I know
of but a few pretty sure there are no
representatives from the Aboriginal
community of the Vancouver area when it
comes to these women's marches if you're
not Caucasian it's pretty much the norm
that every other group is left
if you're not Caucasian if you're not a
middle class upper class than norm and i
use the Norman quote and history has
shown that to be true and that's kind of
disappointing so I'm glad that I didn't
end up going and supporting that because
Trump has shown his disdain for the
blacklivesmatter for black people in
general for women in general for the
LGBT community in general for us not to
be a part of it that's kind of ludicrous
that doesn't make any sense
the blacklivesmatter the vancouver
branch has been more than open and
willing and you know anyway if history
is repeating itself that's all i have to
say about that for now and Trump he's
taking he's getting those whose pen
ready signatures ready and they're
signing away as of Monday and I know
that over the next several months of
some other things are going to
changed and signed away or side into or
reinstated promise withdrawn from the
trans-pacific partnership trade deal and
this deal aims to deepen economic ties
between these nations canada is included
in that there's many nations included
slashing tariffs and fostering trade to
boost growth
he has also reinstated the mexico city
policy or the Global gag rule which
stipulates that non-us non-governmental
organizations receiving us family
planning funding cannot inform the
public or educator government on the
need to make safe abortions available
provide legal abortion services are
provided advice on where to get an
abortion policy allows for exceptions
indications of rape incest and life
engagement of course is just this is
just summarize he also funny
antiabortion executive order which
federal which is a federal ban on us
funding for international or health
organization that Councilwoman our
family planning options that include
abortion
it should be interesting what to see
what he does with the rest of the week
brings from Donald Trump in his
administration
yeah did you go to the women's march in
your city if they held one or were you
going to go and you like a for whatever
reason do you think that they even do
anything is it works going good you can
be that more can be done behind the
scenes vs attending a protester march
and yeah I'd love to hear what you think
about that in the comments section and
just a reminder please you don't have to
agree with me and know what Norman I
expect everyone to agree with me that's
not how the world works but this is my
podcast and if you get rude and nasty i
will block you from commenting just be
respectful
that's all I ask quote are saying of the
week
what seems to us as bitter trials are
often blessings in disguise oscar wilde
and this is something that I've been
battling with recently the seemingly to
me it seems like bitter trials and I
mean when it comes to my career and
certain aspects of my life and where I
see them going and what I'm working
towards and then you know you're just
not seeing the results that you feel
that you should be getting with
the amount of work that you're putting
into it you know I've been giving into
belts of self-pity something that I
don't allow myself to you much anymore
because it's just it isn't productive
you know I'm giving into that self-pity
and self-doubt can you can get you into
a rough and for me and I'm sure with
many of you it can be a downward spiral
into bad things you know such as bouts
of depression anxiety negative self-talk
etc and quite frankly nothing good can
come of it so i spent a good number of
days okay now what I spent a good number
of days kind of I guess living in those
feelings and I had to let go and I
prefer for those feelings negative
feelings thoughts to not come back at
all
you know when you're when you're working
towards the goal where there's
professional personal whatever and it
seems that you're constantly fighting an
uphill battle a battle that at times
seems to go on for years and you never
seem to catch a break and you're just
you're just tired and I think that's
where i was last week I was just tired
and kind of over it and you know you're
doing everything that you're supposed to
be doing like i said earlier you know
they're putting in the hard work putting
in the prayer putting in the positive
thinking and the positive actions is
still nothing
so yeah that's where I was and was
because everything that I perceived to
be a bad thing or not quite my way you
know what I think I deserve has happened
because it is it because it had to
realize that it wasn't the best
situation for me or simply a better
opportunity came along or maybe it was a
way for the University this you
shouldn't be doing this just stopped
because I find it for me I I don't like
starting things and not finishing them
and even though everything is telling
you this is not what you're supposed to
be doing i still feel like I have to
finish things or complete it but
sometimes you just need to let things go
and say that wasn't the right thing for
me even if it's not complete and that's
okay
there are a lot of things that happen in
life that were not for the betterment of
my life and so you just you just have to
accept things kind of got off-track for
a second anyway the takeaway or what I
would like to like to think it's a
takeaway from that quote what seems to
us as bitter trials are often blessings
in disguise is that for some of us for
whatever reason why
it's just a battle for some of us at
least for the things that will you
really desire and sometimes that's what
group what we really need and that can
be a sucky battle that I am honestly i
have yet to be convinced of that we need
that we need that we need that battle
you know how some people say that life
is supposed to be hard nothing worth
anything is supposed to be easy you have
to fight for everything for finances to
a job or career this you love for great
grades for an amazing body etc I have to
say I'm not really convinced you have to
fight for something
sure but in my not but everything in my
opinion should not be a battle or war so
I'm kind of thinking is it the the
mindset that is making things hard or
just my lot in life I don't know because
if i have been to working on changing my
mindset and positive thinking and I'm
doing the work or doesn't matter what I
do if I'm doing everything on paper
seems to be correct and doing it the
right way is that just how it's supposed
to be for me i don't know i'm still
trying to figure this stuff out i'm kind
of thinking and speaking at the same
time do you think that life should
always be hard always be an uphill
battle or is it that life some people
are just in unfortunate that's just how
is for some people some people it's just
easy and other people they seem
different cruise through another people
everything is a fight even for the
simple things of even for the simple
things
yeah i'll leave your thoughts on that do
we have to fight for everything or
should we have to fight for everything
that we want in life curious about other
people's opinions on that what I'm
grateful for this past week this
beginning of the week
oh I'm grateful for the Sun we haven't
had sun for a while so it's nice to see
a monday with sun the last few months
have been pretty dreary and dark and
rainy so it's nice to see son and a
little bit of warmth
I'm also grateful for another sunday of
making myself do nothing but put
together a 300 piece puzzle although
this week I didn't finish the puzzle i
started too late but that's okay because
the sunday this day office
relaxing and doing what i want to do
which included watching some netflix
sipping on coffee having breakfast and
lunch and it's not exciting
I gotta go to the March I didn't have
all these brunch plans and all these
plans and things to do in activities but
that's okay i don't get energized from
being around in crowds here on one or
two people at a time is fine but i don't
i get kind of drained if it's a look a
lot of people and a lot of hustle and
bustle and we have to go here we have to
go there we have to plan this
I don't like that that's not energizing
to me and obviously I probably be a
little miserable by the time the end of
the day came and thinking wow this is so
i spent my day off because it's not fun
for me
so anyway it was quiet and that's
perfect for someone who continually
feels guilty
we're not doing something so have my day
off which is good for my mental health
but the puzzle
can you get my mind busy enough and so I
had the payoff of completing our almost
completing something at the end of the
day and which is good idea for any of
you
workaholics who feel so guilty when
you're taking the day off as you need
because I think everybody needs at least
one day off whatever do the week works
for you pick it is for people who is
really difficult for them to not do
something and not be productive you know
you want to do something relaxing and
you want to feel like you've completed
something but you still want to relax so
you know pick up a puzzle
do you know there's like those on adult
coloring books crossword puzzles
I don't know Springs coming up maybe you
can start getting your seedlings ready
for your garden so yeah you want to do
something that's not super strenuous but
will aid in your day off and your mental
rehab I guess before you start your week
again so it's an issue thinking I guess
some people their day off consists of
literally lying in bed having sleeping
you know for 14 hours waking up getting
for meee going back to bed watching
movies and that's fine because i'm done
those before and not lately but I've
done that before so yeah I do you think
that day off should be productive or
have a true day off where you literally
do nothing or you maybe if you're lucky
enough to do a spa day or something like
that maybe you can do that's a that's
actually a really awesome playoffs body
anyway you'll have to answer that
question for yourself what do you
consider a a good day a good day off
would you consider a good day off yeah

KING: Why it matters that 2017 is a record year for black Oscar nominees - Duration: 3:31.
In the past two years, as the top trending topic around the Academy Awards became #OscarsSoWhite, frustration boiled over about how outrageously white and monolithic the nominees were. In those two years, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences set out to not only diversify its core leadership, but to open up its very old, very white voting base.
Through a mix of the social pressure created online, the increasing diversity of the Academy, and a genuinely amazing year for black arts and culture, the new Oscar nominations are groundbreaking.

Academy Awards 2017 nominations: See the stars and movies up for an Oscar
A record six black actors and actresses were just nominated. Each are deserving. Every single one of them were spectacular.
Many, like Ruth Negga, Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris, were first time nominees in breakout roles.
Others, like previous nominees Denzel Washington, Octavia Spencer, and Viola Davis, were their same old spectacular selves.

Three films with predominantly black casts, "Fences," "Moonlight," and "Hidden Figures," were nominated for Best Picture — also a record. Barry Jenkins was nominated for Best Director for "Moonlight" and he could very well win. The film, as you may recall, won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Drama and has eight Oscar nominations — making it one of the most nominated films of the year.

All of this matters tremendously — not because these artists do what they do for recognition, but because this recognition makes these films, these directors, these actors and actresses more known to the world. Mahershala Ali is one of the best actors on earth. His role in "Moonlight" was incredibly complex, deeply sensitive and familiar to so many of us who grew up knowing men just like him.
Now, whether he wins or not, he will always be Oscar nominated actor, Mahershala Ali.
It will likely increase his earning potential.
By the way, he also had a small but rich role as a loving husband in "Hidden Figures."

These nominations also mean something else. It means that films like this will continue to be written and well-funded. The world has demonstrated that not only do such films deserve critical acclaim, but they can be box office successes as well.
This recognition should mean a substantive, qualitative improvements in roles and films we see about black life from this point forward.
We cannot assume that will be the case, of course, but these nominations help that battle.
Furthermore, representation matters. When I watch the Oscars with my children, I want them to see nominees who look like them in films and roles that tell their story. That should always be the case, but it simply hasn't been true most years. This year it is.
I think it's critically important that we have films on slavery and inner city life, but the totality of black existence is not bound by those spaces. Films like "Hidden Figures," "Fences," "Moonlight" and "Loving" each tell richly nuanced stories, with colorful, three-dimensional characters that frankly we have never seen before on the big screen. Each of the six black actors and actresses who were nominated lived out complicated characters that have been missing for far too long in Hollywood.
They have hearts, souls, dreams, disappointments, highs, lows, happiness, anger and everything in between.
To be clear, I loved many films this year that did not have predominantly black casts or directors. I thought "Arrival" and "Hell or High Water" were spectacular and am glad to see them get recognition, but I will always remember this year as a pivotal year where black artists received the full credit and recognition they deserved. Sadly, this is far too rare in this nation.
