Welcome to Danube Calisthenics - Todays video will be about the question: Can you be too weak for Calisthenics?
I made this video because I see that many people think that they are too weak for Calisthenics and that they have to do something else like going to the gym before starting with Calisthenics.
In this video I want to show you why that way of thinking is wrong and why it could be that you make even less overall progress if you don't start with Calisthenics in the beginning if it's your main goal for later.
Before we start with the explaination: The answer is "No- you can't be too weak for Calisthenics". There are always exercises or progressions that have been made easier that you can do, no matter what.
I won't show that in this video but you can find a list of Videos where you can see different kinds of exercises in the description.
There are always ways of making an exercise easy enough for you so that you can do it, even if you had 200kg!
Mostly it's possible to make an exercise easier by changing the lever or the execution so that you can adapt it to your level so there will always be something that you can do.
Calisthenics is not only the crazy and hard stuff you might see on instagram or somewhere else but also all other bodyweight exercises that everyone can do.
Why is it even helpful to immediately start with Calisthenics if you want to do it later anyways? You don't have to do that if your goal is Bodybuilding or lifting weights.
But it makes sense to immediately start with Calisthenics if you know that you want to do it later anyways because you will get a better feeling for your bodyweight and for your body.
And all exercises are also similar to each other. So the hardest Pull exercises will still have similarities with the easy ones and so on. So the body will get used to the movements better and therefore it will again be easier.
The body will get used to the exercises and movements and therefore it will also be easier to go to the harder exercises later than it would be if you'd start with something else.
Of course it's especially in the beginning important to reach a good level to start with and for that there are the same basic rules that apply to everyone:
Of course it would be good to just do the execises and movements as often as possible in order to build a good basic strength level.
For that it's important that you don't train with a unnecessarily high amount of reps per set. Calisthenics is a strength related sport and if you train with too high reps like maybe 30+ it will be more for your endurance.
So always choose exercises or progressions which are not too easy for you and push your limits there. It's easier to do that with lower reps than with very very high reps
So don't to too easy exercises of which you can do that much reps but maybe go for 5-15 reps most of the time in the beginning.
You'll be able to really focus on gaining strength and still repeating the reps often enough in that way.
It' also unbelieveably important that you always try to progress and that you try to go to your limits in order to push them!
So if an exercise gets too easy for you then try to go to a harder progression instead of just focusing on doing more and more reps with it for an endless amount of time.
In general there are two extreme types of people which might say they are too weak for moving their own bodyweight. Of course mostly it might be something in between this.
A person of type 1is in general too heavy, most probably because of too much bodyfat. This person would have to get lighter by losing fat when starting with Calisthenics in order to be able to handle the bodyweight better.
Type 2 is skinny but still not able to do a lot of stuff with his bodyweight because he is too weak and/ or has also very little muscle mass.
Bith of these types and also everyone else will have to start building a basic strength for getting better at Calisthenics but depending on the bodytype the optimum nutrition might look different in each case.
Someone who has too much fat should of course eat less calories than he burns in order to loose it and should maybe also train a bit more intense and with shorter breaks.
The skinny and weak type 2 won't have to handle that struggle and should probably eat more or at least as much calories as he burns and also enough protein in order to get a stronger and more musclular body.
Of course it is also important to have a well balanced diet and to also eat enough veggies, fruits etc.
So maybe you are that kind of bodytype but maybe you should also try to loose some weight, you can perfectly do that by just starting with Calisthenics!
So yes that's it with the basic things about that question and as said: No you can't be too weak for Calisthenics, there will always be progressions or exercises that re possible for you and it makes sense to right go for that.
Just get into it if you want to do Calisthenics later anyways that's efficient because of the reasons I explained before.
It's really important that you try to progress to harder exercises or variations and go for the exercises you want to be able to do.
Try to build up a good basic strength and concentrate on the basic exercises in the beginning, maybe don't go for too hard ones immediately if you can't even to any progression for that.
Focus on the basics first and if you get better there you will automatically also be ablet to go for new other harder exercises.
Depending on the bodytype you should also have the right nutrition. Especially if you have too much fat this will be important because you can't loose any weight if you eat too much, even if you work out.
So noone is too weak to do Calisthenics and if you think about starting with it then go straight to it right now, you can do it. Also make sure to check out the other Videos I linked in the desription, this might help you out!
(There are even more on my channel but some of them don't have subtitles yet)
Just do the exercises you can do right now and then try to progress from that level, no matter how low it might be
Also strive for harder variations, train often enough and also hard and smart enough!
That's it with the things I wanted to explain to you in that video! I hope I was able to help you out and I wish you all the best for starting! If you have questions or wishes left then leave them in the comments. See you!
