...because he sort of looked up to me, being the older brother,
and sort of as a— in a father-figure kinda way.

Jarrod has a— a hypoxic brain injury.
The part of the brain that's been affected is the occipital lobe,
which is at the back of the brain.
Those are the areas of the brain that are particularly involved with vision
and the visual association areas, so not only is it the areas where you see,
but it's also where you make sense of what you see.
Get some breakfast, Jarrod.
He's had trouble, for instance, with identifying people's faces,
and that's a particular type of syndrome that can occur in those circumstances.
He has to start all over again, if you— if you will.

Growing up, he was quite the character,
just always positive about where he is, what he's doing.
Jarrod is laid-back, but you can also sense that he is motivated to—
wanting to do something with his life.
Through his years, through high school and intermediate,
he has picked up the cheekiness and the— the humour.

So we've been here at ABI for about a week and a half.

Things seem to be going very, very well
in terms of Jarrod
becoming more mobile.
(WHEEZES) Until this week is over. Yeah.
I think what we'll do a bit more today is actually look at how long you can stand for
and just try to get you kinda moving on to both sides
and just feeling that weight through each side.
Standing for the first time is— is a big thing,
and— and, you know, when you've been lying in bed and things,
your muscles get a bit deconditioned and just something like standing can put—
be a lot more difficult.
Can you lift your arms for me?

He does get a bit stubborn at times, but, you know, that's how... 15-year-olds are, I guess.

Jarrod over the last couple of days has made some really good improvements.
He's no longer needing the wheelchair to come up to the gym.
He's now able to walk outside by himself
and with Jason or one of the staff members helping him out a little bit, just guiding him.
It's mainly to do with his vision, so a lot of what we're doing—
we're doing today is we're scanning for things and, um, ob— we've got an obstacle course set up.

and I want you to pick up those cones, all right?

The main risk of Jarrod's heart rate not being able to reach 150,
they don't want him to be at risk of maybe having another incident.

I might— Actually, we're probably gonna do some breathing exercises right now so—
Yeah.
Your vocal chords, normally when we breathe, are open,
but sometimes when you're breathing, they get too close together.
And that's when we hear those sounds like (WHEEZES).
Right? That's what we want to avoid, right?
So you can control it.
You can kinda feel how it feels in your throat when you (WHEEZES).
All of this — I'm just gonna touch your neck real quick —
this gets a bit tense, right?
And when we're breathing, right,
when we're concentrating on our belly,
you're like a balloon that's inflating...
and then deflating.
When you breathe out, I want you to make a 'sss' sound.
Cool.
Sss.
(BOTH LAUGH) Good.
And then another cool effect of this kinda breathing
is that it's lowering your heart rate quite a bit,
which is another goal of ours.
Wow.
So I think we're gonna do some running. We'll do some upper limb stuff as well.
Running inside the... on the treadmill?
Nah, probably not on the treadmill.
Try running. So we're just gonna do two lengths, OK?
And we'll sit down. There and back. There and back. Yup.

It's amazing how fast he's progressed.
From what we were told, he was motivated to prove the doctors wrong,
but show them that he is strong.

So, Jarrod, you're doing really well,
and the next step is going to be looking at going home for the weekends.
The main thing we want to highlight is that heart rate.
When you're going home, um, you just have to be very diligent with that and those oxygen saturations.
The same sort of stuff. We've got you those precautions.
I think that probably the three main things that we're working on when you do go out
are getting you to look at your watch yourself and check when you need to, uh, take a bit of a rest,
and your eyesight, so scanning around and looking for things,
and when we're inside, scanning around to find where the cookies are, for example.
So getting used to lots of work with your eyes.

Since he's been gone, there's been something missing, and, of course, yeah,

Yeah, Jarrod does get a bit annoying, when people ask about his breathing.
More with new people that haven't really cared for him.
When the ambulance first arrived and they incubated him, they— they must have cut him or something.
Over time, that just healed up and made his airways a bit tighter,
which wasn't allow his vocal chords to open. It's a relief that we finally know...
why he was making those kind of sounds that he was making.

So I think when he concentrates he, um, sort of holds his breath.

you collapsed and fell on to the floor.
And then Lance called out, 'Willie, there's something wrong!'
What happened was that the staff and Lance tried to wake you up,
they tried to say, 'Hey, Jarrod. Hey, Jarrod.'
When that happened, I went and called for the ambulance to come.
The staff called the ambulance, and then straight away...
(WEEPS) All good, boy.
You tell us when to stop.
He's OK. (WEEPS)
Lance and the staff member here at 10 started to do CPR on you, to help you through that.
The ambulance came, and then the ambulance took over.
And, uh, I'm just thinking, with the boys who were sitting here,
they were quite shocked about what happened.
And I'm just gonna ask them if they wanna share about what they saw.
I'd just looked up, yeah, but then it was quite a while, you were just lying down, started going pale,
and yeah, yeah, I was— I was just praying, eh. Yeah.
Yeah, scared. Scared, eh.
Had you seen anything like that before?
No. No, eh.
I've always been close with him. Yeah.
It just scared me. Yeah.
I was so proud of the guys, cos I said, 'You know, that's what Papakura is about.
'You know, that's who our people are, and we shared in this.'
So you remember, this is your house too.
Uh, Papakura Rec is where we all are,
and, uh, we're waiting for you to come back when you're ready.

not just to me but my whole family and, of course, to himself.

After the weekend at home, quite a lot of stuff has happened.
His, um, oxygen levels went too high,
so the doctor was a bit concerned about his breathing and things.
He ended up having to have another tracheostomy done,
which he was a bit concerned about.

He's supposed to have a nebulizer every couple of hours, just to keep his secretions loose.
Just so he can, um, cough them out better
so it doesn't get all dry and stuff in there.
This is a bit of a setback, having the trache in and things.
But I'd say it's a good— a good setback.

So he can move forward.

The Soul Mate in Everyone Attracting the One

most certainly perpetuates (and compliments) our desire as individual souls to go out there
on the frontier of this incarnation with the attitude that we�re going to learn some
lessons together.
We�re all in it together and the joy of experience is one we share.
However, I�m not sure we need to go in for stories of split souls or the perfect match
being out there for us.
Because, when we do, we often find we have played in to the illusion of time and reality
and taken it too seriously.
As Teal Swan points out in this video, everything in existence at the highest level has the
potential to be your twin flame or soul mate.
Here are three ways in which we can remember that there�s potentially a soul mate out
there for us in everyone: Your mate directly reflects your self worth at that moment in
time The best way to attract a �soul mate� could be to come as much into alignment with
yourself as you possibly can and then forget about the whole shebang entirely.
Living your truth means doing what you love, money aside, and following your bliss.
This would be the best way to attract someone, because when they do eventually come along,
then they�ll be the energetic match to your higher self, or at least the best version
of yourself.
We all know that when you are attracting others, or forcing a relationship when you aren�t
healed from the many others before it, it�s going to end in tears.
If you have found yourself in a pattern of abusive relationships or ones that didn�t
quite hit the spot and honour what you�re really all about then it�s time to be single
until you can figure out what makes you tick.
Living your truth and following your bliss are also excellent self healing tools and
being happy rather than moping around and waiting for someone to knock on your door
is, let�s face it, a much better attitude to have.
Enjoying being single and exercising gratitude for your solitude are also ways to shift the
focus from lack on to love.
So, if there are levels to attraction, you�re going to attract the best match for you and
they�re more likely to be who you really want, the more you are stating to the universe
(by being at your best) that you are ready for them.
Like a spiral of ascension, why not go for gold rather than wallowing around in the storm?
When you have them, stay detached This doesn�t mean become emotionally numb or taking them
for granted.
It means recognise, that much like being at your best or living in your truth when you�re
wanting to attract a mate, that the more you put in the more you get out.
Are you being present and honest with this person?
Are you allowing them to shine and be the best version of themselves?
If you can have several relationships with the same person, then that means that � as
long as you�re both willing to grow and transform together � that you can rise and
fall in frequency with that same partner.
Agree on certain goals or vows.
Say you both agree to aid each other in your spiritual paths or to allow each other to
grow.
Then if either of you decide the vows don�t suit you anymore or that you�re bored of
the relationship you can openly talk about it or decide to say goodbye.
Perhaps if we decide that person is your soul mate then they are.
Perhaps this decision puts too much pressure on one of you.
Surely the most exciting thing would be never to decide, or know.
One thing that�s certainly clear, is that the level of maturity required to keep a loving
relationship going is to stay respectful and never take them for granted.
The physical and material aspects of course tie you together, often in ways you don�t
want to be tied down� ways in which all too often kill desire and make it a relationship
of requirements.
We also often see the relationship more from the outside, thinking that we�ll be letting
family members down or will have failed in some way if we cut loose.
But if we remember that relationships are just more in-depth mirrors in the illusion
of reality than most, then we remain detached from them.
Where did this pressure to find your soul mate come from anyway?
Oh yes, Hollywood movies and TV series, the anchors of entertainment that bog down the
matrix with unrealistic desires us humans are meant to constantly pursue.
Relationships can be another way to consume and keep us on the treadmill of the rat race.
So beware.
Instinctively we know that, while a long term relationship where each other grows and learns
a great deal from the partnership could be one of your main lessons in this lifetime,
it doesn�t have to be.
Often the greatest lesson, especially on the higher planes of the third dimension and moving
up into the fourth, is how we sustain a good relationship with ourselves.
A spiritual soul mate relationship really is up there on the highest levels of detachment
and honour for another person� or aspect of ourselves.
Just the decision is enough Certainly, just making the decision that you would like to
be in a spiritual soul mate relationship can be enough.
If you�re ready, you�ll know it.
Whether you�re already in a relationship or not.
Do you want this lifetime to be about your experiences with your (current or expected)
�soul mate�?
Then do it.
If you ask, you will receive, so it�s really all in the eye of the beholder (or perceiver).
Having said all this, there is an inextricable connection that many of us experience with
one other person.
And this person triggers in us both the feelings of home and the feelings of adventure simultaneously.
Do they appear because we are ready for them, is it pre-destined?
Perhaps our choice to experience a soul mate comes when we are ready and someone simply
lines up for that experience too.
Or perhaps it CAN only be that one specific person and no other will do.
That�s certainly what it feels like anyway.
So the jury�s out.
We�ll never know for sure.
But then that�s what the mystery of love is all about.
What we do know is that those shared moments with another are what we�ll remember and
carry on into the next life.
And who knows, maybe we will meet that particular soul in the next life too.
It certainly is a romantic notion.

Susan Rice appeared on national television a few months ago to lie to the American people.
She told us that Donald Trump was not spied on by Obama.
We now know she was behind the leak and she needs to be held accountable.
Susan Rice needs to be made an example of.
National Security Advisors cannot abuse the force of the intelligence community to play
politics.
Susan Rice was trusted to maintain the security of our great nation and she abused that trust
for political gain.
During the Obama administration, Democrats were given the message that they will not
be held accountable for their crimes.
Obama allowed countless cases of corruption to go unpunished, causing the decay of public
trust.
Hillary Clinton was not punished when she flagrantly broke the law and maintained a
private email server.
She illegally used her server to send classified information and was ultimately hacked.
Hillary knew she broke the law and played stupid, and the Obama administration rewarded
her corruption.
Our country was founded on the rule of law.
We do not have kings or nobles, we are all equal under the law.
However, the failure to prosecute Democrats has proven to them that they are in fact above
the law.
This needs to end now.
President Trump has started on the right path by keeping an arms length from the intelligence
community and maintaining their integrity.
However, these agencies are still full of corrupt bureaucrats who were willing to break
the law for Obama and Susan Rice.
Susan Rice violated her position and the public trust.
We instill a great deal of authority into our National Security Advisors under the impression
that they are working within the law on behalf of We the People.
Susan Rice broke the law and ordered the unmasking of members of the Trump campaign against the
wishes of top investigators.
Now is the moment to revitalize trust in our government.
Susan Rice has been caught red-handed, and she needs to be tried for her crimes.
She needs to be seen on national TV being carted away in a pair of handcuffs and an
orange jumpsuit.
Democrats have been let off the hook far too many times, and they now believe they are
above the law.
Obama, Rice, Clinton, and all of the other traitors need to be held accountable for selling
out our country for their own interests.
We the people need to ensure that justice is served!
