I was a breakout YouTube star in the first year.

2006. I decided that the right strategy was

to leave YouTube completely

and go to Viddler because Viddler offered me equity

in their company and I've left an enormous amount

of attention, I deviated from my attention thesis

to do short term economics and equity in a company

and I lost.

I lost. When DRock finally came in my life two years ago

and we started to try to build up my YouTube the first time,

I was sitting on 40,000 followers

in a world where I could have had millions

if I just stayed the course.

So, I make mistakes all the time,

I'm re-org'ing VaynerMedia every day

'cause it's based on a mistake I made the prior year.

I just don't give a fuck about my mistakes,

everybody else cares about your mistakes.

5-Minute Crafts To Do When You're BORED! 10 Quick and Easy DIY Ideas! Amazing DIYs & Craft Hacks! - Duration: 16:51.

hey guys welcome back to my channel

today I'm going to show you 10 easy DIY

5-minute craft ideas if you enjoy

this video please click that like button

and if you'd like to see future DIY

videos please click that subscribe button

the first DIY will be rainbow

lip balm for this one I'm going to use

rainbow colored eyeshadow if you don't

have rainbow colored eyeshadow you can

also use kool-aid what I did was I just

started scraping each color of the

rainbow into little cups

next I took a small amount of Vaseline and mix that

with the eyeshadow a repeated the same

process for each color of the rainbow

I'm going to be using these stackable

containers to put the lip balm in

and that's all there is to do this easy

DIY rainbow lip balm

the second DIY is a fun spring craft which is a spinning pinwheel pencil

choose any color paper that you

would like to use and then what i did

was i measured out a 4 by 4 square and cut that out

i placed a mark in the

center of the square i made one and a

half inch lines from the corner to the

center point

next i cut on each of those lines

I used a round push pin to make a hole in the center

I used the same push pin to

make a hole on every other corner

next I fold it in the corners that I just made

the holes in and I fold those into

the center then I place the push pin

through all of those pieces then I'm

going to use a pencil and poke the push

pin through the eraser making sure that

it doesn't poke all the way through

and now you have a spinning pinwheel pencil

the third DIY will be a super fun keychain

for this one I'm just going to

use a piece of foam

on the foam I drew two identical images representing a fry

box and then I cut those out

with a sharpie I went around all of the

sides of the fry box and I did that for both pieces

here what mine look like at this point

the next thing I did was I

went online and I printed out a saying

fries before guys and I mirror image

that when I printed it out and then with

a pencil I went over each of the letters

once I had traced over all the letters I

flipped it over and I put it into the

center of the piece of foam and then I

just scratched with the pencil on the

back so it would transfer onto the foam

and you can't see it real clearly but

all of the letters transfer it onto the foam

now i'm going to use a fine point

sharpie and i'm going to go over all of the letters

i'm going to use a pink

sharpies cut color in the letters

using a piece of yellow foam I cut out

strips to resemble french fries

I arranged the french fry how I wanted on

and then I glued them down

next I glued the top to the bottom

I colored in the sides and the bottom

with a black sharpie to give it a finished look

using a hole punch I

punched a hole in one of the fries and

then I used a key chain and a jump ring

and attached it to the fry

the fourth DIY will be unicorn string lights

for this one you will need to print out

these images I actually just got these

online and put them into a printable I

will leave a link down below for both of

them once they're printed out then you

just want to cut each of them out

once they're all cut out you just want

to go around the edges with a glue stick

and glue the two together leaving the

top open

I placed a toothpick in the center that

was still open just to make sure that

nothing is glued together

I repeated that same process for the

unicorn magic bottle

and here are mine once they were glued together and dried

i'm going to use these LED lights

it is a set of ten

place each of the light in the hole that was in the center

and I just pushed it all the way through

so just the wire was hanging out and I

just repeated that same process for all

10 of lights and images

and here they are once they were complete I absolutely

love how these turned out the camera

doesn't really show how cute these are

and also remember not to leave the lights unattended

the fifth DIY will be Orbeez nail polish pens

this is similar to the nail polish

pens that I made earlier and I will

leave a link down below if you want to

watch that video i started by cleaning

out a nail polish bottle and the other

video that i talked about will show you

how to do that

i'm going to use the ink from a ballpoint pen and i just measured

it out and trimmed it down to size

I will be using about 10 to 15 Orbeez and

i just drop those in the nail polish

bottle and added some water and waited

for them to grow

i remove the nail polish brush from the cap

once the Orbeez had grown then I place the ink

into the nail polish bottle and with

some hot glue I secured the ink into the

nail polish bottle make sure to add a

little bit of water to the bottle before

you glue the pen in there so if the

Orbeez don't shrink down that's all

there is to be easy Orbeez nail polish pens

the sixth DIY will be scented play-doh

with all the slime videos I thought to

mix it up with some play-doh this recipe

is super simple it only requires two

ingredients one of them being yogurt I'm

going to use a strawberry yogurt and I

just emptied that into a bowl

next I will be using cornstarch and I just

slowly started adding that to the yogurt

in until formed a play dough consistency

and if you want to make a

rainbow of colors just add food coloring

to the cornstarch and yogurt

and that's all there is to this super

easy play doh and it smells amazing it's

also super stretchy since it does have

yogurt in it when you're done playing

with it you can just put it in a ziplock

bag and place it in the refrigerator

the seventh DIY projects are glow-in-the-dark stars

for this one I

just printed out some stars and then I'm

also going to use some parchment paper

and I just place that over the top of

the stars and taped it down

i will be using these glow-in-the-dark

glue stick I went over each of the stars

with the glue gun that had the

glow-in-the-dark glue sticks in it

once they had cooled down I removed him from

the parchment paper

and that's how you make these super simple glow-in-the-dark

stars again the camera really doesn't

show how great they glow in the dark but

these actually really glow in the dark

really well

the next two DIYs go together the first will be

glow-in-the-dark sand for this one i'm

at i'm actually not going to use sand

i'm going to use some epsom salts and I

just started by placing some in a ziplock bag

next I added some glow in the dark paint

i'm going to use pink and then i just

shook it up and mixed it around

to let it dry you can either open up the

ziploc bags or a faster way is to put it

on a cookie sheet in a thin layer

and here is the glow in the dark sand once

it was dry

I'm going to fill up a tall Starbucks cup with the glow in the dark sand

and the next DIY is just a fun

thing to display in the sand and that

will be a flower pencil

for this one I cut out five sheets of tissue paper in

eight by six inches

I faced the shorter side towards me and then started folding

it in an accordion fold

I rounded out both of the ends

using a green pipe cleaner I placed that in the

middle and twisted it around

I started carefully pulling up the first layer of

tissue paper and then I continued

pulling each layer up toward the top

until all the layers of this issue paper

were separated and the flower was formed

I wrapped the pipe cleaner around a mini

pencil and then I stuck it into the sand

and I know the flower doesn't really

look super close to whipped cream but

it's just a really cute and fun DIY project

the last DIY project will be a mini Starbucks notebook

for this one I'm

going to recycle one of the starbucks

bags that you get it hot food in

I started by cutting out the starbucks logo

I laminated the logo with contact

paper or you can also use clear packing

tape once it was laminated then I cut it out

I used a piece of cardstock I traced around

the logo and cut that out so I had two circles

I took one of the cardstock circles to

traced around that and then cut out

several circles to form my notebook

I gathered up all my pieces for the

notebook and on the front and back I put

the piece of cardstock I clip those

together and then I applied some white

Elmer's glue to the top and to make this

craft go quicker I use a hairdryer to dry the glue

here is mine after two minutes

with the hair dryer

next I just glued the logo on to the card stock

once that's done there you have your

mini starbucks notebook I hope you guys

- Hi, everyone, welcome back to the channel.

Today we are doing another Is it Worth It?

You guys have been commenting down, oh,

so we're gonna do it.

We are doing it on this conditioner,

and it is called, the brand is Herbal Essence,

and it's Hello Hydration.

- Hello Hydration!

- And it's a moisturizing conditioner,

it (mumbles) the hydration, and it's coconut, so.

First, like always, we always like the smell

of conditioners and other products,

so we're first going to smell this.

I will smell it.

(sighs) It smells like tropical beach.

- It smells like, it smells like pineapples.

(loud slide whistle)

(sighs)

Our mother, she's used this a lot,

and a lot of times, and she said,

"Oh, we should try it," so we have to try it.

- Let's go.

- So, we're in the bathroom, we're going to use

this product as a detangler, because we heard

that people said this is really good as a detangler,

so we're gonna see, is it worth it as a detangler?

- And you can check out our shirts, first of all,

Spider-Man and Superman, we're only wearing this

just to be fine with getting...

- Instructions isn't very specific,

it just said "work in from

"root to tip, then rinse."

That isn't really specific,

so we don't really understand what that means.

So, I guess we're going to do it

before we shampoo, so the first thing

that we're going to have to do is spray our hair

to make it very, very damp.

(upbeat piano music)

Now you take a little section out of that section

that you made really damp, clip the other section away,

then you put on the detangler.

Now we're going to see the consistency of the conditioner.

- Wow, oh, it's blue!

- It's not very sticky, but it's pretty thick.

- Well, I don't think it matters (mumbles).

Well, it kinda feels sticky.

- So now, you have to apply it to your hair.

- Oh, it feels so smooth and soft.

- It makes my hair look so shiny.

- Wow.

My hair was tangled.

- And while we're doing this,

we're going to finger detangle.

- I can't believe it actually works.

This is actually really good.

My hair was tangled before we started

recording this, and it's just...

- It is actually really soft.

So then, after that, you're going to have

to spray it again.

So now we're gonna talk about the cost, the money.

So, it is two dollars.

That's really good, actually.

- It's cheap.

This was two dollars, and it does so much,

this actually reminds me, the other video

Is it Worth It, the Aussie detangler,

and actually, we have it right here.

So, comparing the Aussie Moist to this,

I'm sorry, but we have to go with the Aussie Moist.

It only takes...

- I think this one's better, actually.

- This only takes three minutes, it detangles,

and it softens your hair, so I'm pretty sure

Here we use 'Reg. AF Function' to instantly switch to Center AF-C with one simple button press, allowing you to quickly adapt to changing scenarios

... then quickly switching back to Lock-on AF by letting go of that button and switching back to the shutter button.

Syrenne & Aelthalyste - Patch 7.2 Follower Quests [Lore] - Duration: 6:38.

Hello everyone!

With patch 7.2 we have Maiev on the Broken shore who informs us that we need to rally

a new champion to bolster our ranks.

Hunters are send to the Trueshot Lodge where Shandris Feathermoon informs them about numerous

reports of sickly animals in the thicket that surrounds the demon-infested city of Suramar.

I guess since this takes place after we take care of Gul'dan, that tossing out their

leader did not instantly clean up the city.

We're send out to see if the rumors are true and near Suramar we find D'Bynn, Nighthuntress

Syrenne's pet that's too weak to react to our presence.

His injuries prevent him from moving, but after grabbing some manaroot that is foraged

from leylines within the crimson thicket, we're able to heal his wounds.

Nighthuntress Syrenne: "D'Bynn!

Can you hear me?

When I am freed, I will kill every last trapper for what they have done to us!"

D'Bynn is kind enough to give us a read as he leads us to Syrenne's location.

"D'Bynn you are alive!

I had almost lost hope, my sweet friend."

She's been withing away in this cage as a prisoner to a wretch called Reyln.

He's leading a group of nightborne that are using fel magic to corrupt and control

the native wildlife.

We need to kill him and recover his control orb so we can release her from this arcane

prison.

"How pathetic!

Syrenne has taken to compelling outsiders to do her bidding?"

"Lexera does not take kindly to those who meddle in her business!"

Syrenne's not surprised that he's taking orders from this Lexera, she always seemed

far too confortable with the demons who infested their city.

We cannot let her succeed in corrupting Suramar's wildlife so we're asked to deal with the

trappers while Syrenne will do her best to track down Nighthunress Lexera.

After killing enough of the nightborne trapper and freeing the felbound beasts, Syrenne lets

us know that she has tracked Lexera all the way to the broken shore.

That's our next destination where her army of trappers has taken over the valley.

Syrenne can take the demons while we go about applying manaroot to the fel-corrupted animal

who are not beyond saving and of course we cut off the head of the beast by taking out

Lexera.

"Did Syrenne send you?

Has she really sided with an outsider over her own people?"

"She will find that she has chosen poorly."

"We will not be stopped!"

There is no joy when a nighthunress falls, but it had to be done.

With Lexera defeated, her band of trappers will quickly disband.

Those that refuse will meet Syrenne's blade and our work here is done for now.

We've quite impressed the nightborne huntress who's been reluctant to trust outsiders,

but we're not that different.

We're both willing to go to great lengths to protect the things we care about and she

would like to lend her aid to us and our hunters.

"D'Bynn and I will make our way to the lodge, should you need us.

Together we will protect our home from the Burning Legion."

That is how hunters obtain their new follower which for me was probably the most disappointing

follower questline so lets do another one today and talk about the priest quest...

Priests are send to their Netherlight Temple where Alonsus Faol informs them about a rather

curious contagion that's spreading through a small coastal region within Highmountain.

The local tribes have abandoned the area for fear of catching the ailment that currently

has no known cure.

One of our own was traveling through the area when her companion fell ill and she requested

our aid so we fly out and meet with Aelthalyste and her companion Roland Abernathy.

*Cough cough* Aelthalyste: Chin up, Roland.

It appears help has arrived."

Roland must have caught whatever the taurens had and the entire camp has been wiped out.

The disease appears to be fel in origin and impervious to all known treatments.

She's been working tirelessly to find a cure, but Roland doesn't have much time

left and our help would be greatly appreciated.

We go down and collect some samples for the source while using Levitate to avoid getting

in direct contact with it.

We use shackle undead to shackle the shambling corpses, the final stage of the disease and

collect specimens with the corpse collector and we reveal the dust sprites disguised as

goats with dispell magic.

It's a little known secret that the dust used by sprites for their various tricks has

restorative properties.

We collect their shimmering dust and return all that's required to find a cure for the

contagion.

"Try adding a bit of Holy Magic.

That usually does the trick."

Woesj "Hello?, I'm listening."

"Hmm, that seems to have made things worse.

Try adding a bit of Shadow Magic instead."

Woesj "Speak quickly"

"Well, that was unfortunate.

Surely someone with your skills can revive him?"

Revive Roland "You've done it!

I'm cured!"

It would seem that a delicate balance of holy and shadow magic is the key to curing this

contagion.

Obviously the remedy will need a bit of work to reduce the undesired side effects, like

dying.

In the meantime, we take the counteragent back to Netherlight Temple while Aelthalyste

will work diligently on discovering the source of this contagion.

The cure couldn't have come at a better time since word has reached us from those

fighting on the Broken shore.

It seems the source can be pinpointed to a specific island off the western coast, an

island were many of our allies have already been infected.

We go about spreading our cure while also taking care of Ozzuk the Corrupter who's

using fel spreaders to pump out their infection fel creep.

Ozzuk the Corrupter: "You will not leave here alive!"

"The contagion will consume you!"

"The Burning Legion cannot be stopped!"

With the threat of infection dismissed, our allies should be able to press their assault

here on the Broken Shore and gain an advantage over the Burning Legion.

"Come, Roland.

Let us leave this vile place before you get yourself sick again."

Aelthalyste and Roland make their way to our order hall where we find them walking around

in the sanctuary of the void.

"Must you always be so close, Roland?"

She's amazed that these hundreds of priests all report to us, she only has Roland.

She think we'll get along very well indeed and if we allow her to stay, she will offer

us her services.

"You made a wise choice.

We will accomplish much together."

Another powerful ally recruited to our cause and we have bolstered our strength against

the Legion once more.

That is how priests obtain their new champion which means we've reached the end of the

video.

cane, I do, I feel like everybody is watching me.

I feel like if there are people around they are watching me. And simply because

there's not a lot of blind people around and for a lot of people

I might be the first time they've ever seen one.

So I do, I think people

are watching me a lot. And if the roles were reversed

and I had never seen a blind person walking with cane, you better believe I'd

be watching. I don't think that's rude but I think

it's just simple curiosity more than anything. Now, this is the thing,

I don't know if I understand the difference between watching and staring.

I know that staring is a bit more rude than watching.

Parents always say, "Don't stare... that's not polite, don't stare."

But what's the difference between staring and watching. I would think

that to watch something is okay but to stare

means your eyes are wide open and you're just concentrating on

this one thing and you're just transfixed if you will.

I imagine people do both to me. I think people are looking at me

because I'm walking with a white cane. I think people are looking because I'm not quite

walking in a straight line. You know.

Or maybe I'm about to walk into something. Now, do I

notice it in a restaurant for example, if I'm sitting there eating?

I might not notice that. Let's say I'm in a place

by myself. I'm at a booth alone, okay. And I'm having

a little lunch and if there's somebody staring at me from

two - three tables away I have no idea. But if I'm with somebody

and we're having lunch together and then afterward we're talking

and he says, "You know, the person was staring at you

for the entire time and it made me uncomfortable."

Wow. Okay, I get that too.

[music plays] A part of this question is about

can I feel the eyes on me.

Like I've heard people say that they're burning a hole in the back of my head from

looking at me so much, right. But I think that's a sighted thing.

I don't think I would be able eyes on me

because I don't know what that is. How could I know?

It's got to be a sighted thing. I don't think I've ever felt eyes on me

before. I don't think I've ever been in a situation

where I've been like, [gasp] "I know everybody is watching me."

You know, staring at me. I always assume that

because I'm different and because people have never seen it

and they want to see if I can make it and all that stuff.

Now, if I was walking around and there were 20 hands on me

I'd feel that. I know what that would be like.

You know, people trying to stop me and push me and pull me and the whole thing.

But, with eyes I don't really get that.

[music plays] When there are sighted people around,

I'm not quite sure who's watching all the time, you know,

so I have to be careful. So for example, if somebody comes over, if I live with

somebody or that kind of thing. I'm afraid to

maybe pick my teeth in front of somebody right

because I don't know if they're going to see that, or touch my nose

or my ear or some weird thing.

You know... I never know. And I understand that

people aren't watching everything

but are you going to see this little moment. I never quite know.

Whether or not somebody's watching.

But I'm very self conscious when there's sighted people around unless

you're in another room. If we're yelling across the house to each other, then I know

that things are cool and I could do whatever I have to do.

And you can't see it, but in the same room...

I got to be careful. Sometimes I

might goof it up. Where I'll be talking to somebody and they're

out of the room but I guess they're straight ahead and they can still see into

the room. Or, the other way around. You know, that they're

around a corner and I think, "well, you sound so close. You should be

able to see this." But I don't understand that you can't see around the corner.

That happens too. Another thing

that happens when I'm around sighted people is I can't tell what they're doing

all the time. If I just start to talk to somebody and they don't

respond I'm going, "I know you're still here."

"Oh, yeah, you might be on your phone or something like that."

It happens all the time. I never quite know what

sighted people are doing. There are times when I'll be talking to somebody

and maybe they get distracted or have to go away

for a quick second while I'm talking to them and I'm just sitting there talking going,

"Hello. [gasp] Oh, you really did leave."

"Wait, I'll be right back!"

And that's a time where I thought they were right there looking at me.

Totally engaged in what I had to say. And they got distracted

and had to leave. Isn't it funny. I'm talking about sighted

people watching me and then sighted people not even looking.

It's very hard to know.

[music plays] Just because I'm blind people think that I

can't really stare at somebody, right, but I do.

It's not staring with my eyes, but you better believe

I'm checking people out. I listen to conversations.

I just start to zero in on a conversation. For example,

if we're having lunch or something like that. And there's somebody at the next table talking about

something interesting, I am all in. And I'm transfixed

just like you would be with your eyes if you were watching somebody.

And I'm just all on that conversation.

You know, people are like, "Tommy, what are doing?" "Shh, they're talking

about something cool over here. Hang on a second."

I love that so I'm guilty of it too. And this is why

I talk quietly when I'm out.

I happen to meet a lovely couple who have a channel called Wranglerstar.

And what these guys did is very cool. They left

the city to become modern homesteaders up in the rugged mountains

kinds of outdoorsy stuff. You know, cutting down

big trees and building things and putting things together.

Just doing it all on their own. It's off the grid stuff

and it's amazing and it's honestly stuff I never really knew about

before so I'm learning a lot from these guys as well.

A couple of the videos I really like, well one of them

is where he's talking about these handmade clamps that he uses

that are very intricate. Another, he's demonstrating a

tractor and how it works, and my favorite talking about

these steel pants he wears. I swear to god, he wears metal pants.

He also does videos about everything

that's going on in the world and stuff that's happening on YouTube like

channels getting hacked. He also talks about YouTube ad revenue

being cut and even all that stuff that went on with

PewDiePie and how Casey Neistat reacted to it and everything.

He just brings a real different perspective to it. It's very grounded.

AND HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ONE

How to prepare to photograph a wedding | Joy Michelle Photography - Duration: 3:45.

in today's video I'm going to be sharing

with you all the things that I do to

prepare for a wedding day. this is stuff

that I do before, probably the day before a

wedding day including prepping my gear

prepping myself and prepping my

client. so if you want the complete list

to follow along and use before your next

wedding you can go ahead and grab that

right now any information section below.

so the first thing that I do to prepare

for each wedding is in the whole

category of gear-- so to prepare my gear...

I'm just going to rattle off some things

that I do for you and that's why I gave

you that checklist it's kind of a lot. I

charge all of my rechargeable batteries.

I clean all of my lenses. I organize and

repack my gear bag so that it's the

exact same every single time. I format

all memory cards so that I have lots of

space for the wedding day, and I create

this in a pile by the door the night

before I leave. so that way i know i have

the stands that I need the gear bag that

i need the reflector everything is all

together and I know I'm completely done

and I'm not scrambling before I need to

get out the door. the next thing I'm

going to be doing is getting all the

logistical things figured out so I'm

going to have a folder I'm going to

print off directions have the invitation

if they sent me one and their

questionnaire all inside of a folder.

I'll probably throw a few business cards

in there as well it's just in case when

I meet vendors throughout the wedding

day that way I have them there. I'm going

to check in with my bride and my second

photographer and make sure everything's

fine and there have been no changes in

plans. if I'm meeting at a hotel to begin

getting ready coverage for my bride or

my groom I at that point would get the

hotel room number. this is also what I'm

going to decide when i'm leaving the

next day, so i'm going to look at how far

away it is if I need to bring money for

tolls and of course make sure that I

allow extra time for traffic and

anything to go wrong so I'm usually

there about an hour early. after i've

prepared all the details and I have all

the folders ready to go and my second

shooter my bride are happy and I've

checked in with everyone, I'm going to go

ahead and prepare myself so I'm going to

lay out my clothes for the next day

deciding on what the weather is going to

be like I'm sure to grab extra shoes. so

when you're on your feet all day you're

going to want comfortable shoes but

you're also might want a change of shoes.

so I like to bring a more formal pair of

shoes and then also rain

boots and maybe some toms or something to

change into. I also bring snacks and lots

of water to every wedding day! so my

favorite snacks are chia bars... I think I

might have one.. I love chia bars I also

love Laura bars Cliff bars in any kind of

gummy candy because it doesn't melt in

the car plus I just love gummy candy.... so

what I bring lots of snacks I bring lots

of drinks so the day before wedding I'm

also trying to drink as much water as

possible especially in the summertime

when I'm going to be outside for so long

I want to make sure that i'm super

pretty hydrated because I can't drink as

much on a wedding day as I would on a

normal day just because I'm on my feet I

gotta go and I don't have time to take a

bathroom break. one little bonus tip if

you are going to be outside for a long

period of time I also bring bug spray

because I get eaten alive and sunscreen

so depending on where you'll be for your

wedding those might also be things that

you're going to want to throw in your

bag. just a reminder you can get this

The Banking Industry Treats Its Customers Worse

Than United Airlines

Last week the Internet was ablaze with disgust after a man was physically dragged off a United

Airlines flight.

What�s amazing, though, is that there are countless cases of another industry abusing

its customers in far, far worse ways than the airlines.

I�m talking, of course, about the banking industry.

1. Banks treat you like criminal suspects too.

Sure, United had a man dragged away like he was a rape suspect being hauled off to jail.

But banks treat their customers like criminal suspects on a daily basis.

If you think I�m exaggerating, try walking into your bank and asking to withdraw $20,000

in cash.

See how quickly they start acting like police investigators, demanding to know what you

intend to do with your own savings.

Thanks to a law called the Bank Secrecy Act, banks are legally required to fill out �Suspicious

Activity Reports� on their customers and send them to the government.

Banks filed nearly 1 million suspicious activity reports in 2016 alone.

Think about that; United treated one passenger like a criminal suspect. Banks treated 1 million

customers like criminal suspects last year.

2. Banks nickel and dime you even more.

The airline industry is constantly being ridiculed for its incessant and ridiculous fees. Selecting

a seat, checking a bag, booking over the phone, even �payment fees�.

My favorite is the �fuel surcharge,� which most airlines imposed back in 2007-2008 to

compensate for the high price of fuel after oil prices surged past $120.

Of course, when oil fell to below $30, they didn�t get rid of the fuel surcharge.

Airlines rake in tens of billions of dollars each year on these fees that absolutely infuriate

their passengers.

But once again, banks are no different, endlessly nickeling and diming their customers with

unnecessary fees� especially if you�re a small business owner.

Some of the most infuriating are fees for sending and receiving money.

To send a domestic wire transfer, for example, banks charge a fee of $25 to $35.

Yet the actual -cost- of banks sending each other money through the Federal Reserve system

is just pennies� as low as 3 cents per transaction.

So banks are literally charging more than ONE THOUSAND TIMES as much for a wire transfer

as it costs them.

3. Overbooking? Try fractional reserve banking

Last week�s United incident highlighted the common practice of overbooking, in which

airlines deliberately sell more seats for a flight than actually exist.

If there are 150 seats on a plane, an airline might sell 160-165 seats on the assumption

that 5% of ticketed passengers won�t show up.

In other words, they make money by selling something that doesn�t actually exist�

which isn�t a problem until all the passengers show up.

Well, this happens in the banking industry as well; banks routinely make loans and charge

interest on money that doesn�t actually exist.

It�s called �Fractional Reserve Banking�, a type of financial system that only requires

banks to hold a tiny portion (or none) of their customers� deposits in reserve.

If you deposit $100,000 at a bank, for example, the bank might hold 5% of that money in reserve,

and loan out the remaining $95,000.

That $95,000 will eventually be deposited in the bank, upon which the bank will hold

5% of that amount ($4,750) and loan out the remaining $90,250.

This continues again and again until the bank has made $2 million in loans on a single $100,000

deposit.

The other $1.9 million doesn�t actually exist. But the bank is raking in the interest.

Just like airline overbooking, fractional reserve banking is a risky practice. And we

saw in 2008 how quickly the entire system unraveled.

But that�s OK because. . .

4. Banks are in bed with the government too.

After the 9/11 attacks, the already-troubled airline industry was quickly sliding into

bankruptcy, so the US government provided a $15 billion bailout through the Air Transportation

Safety and Stabilization Act.

Airlines, as it turned out, were too big to fail.

Seven years later, the banks received a bailout worth more than $1.7 TRILLION, over 100x what

the airlines received.

So no matter how stupid or risky their practices are, banks expect the taxpayer to bail them

out.

5. Yet they brazenly screw their own customers

One of the things that was most disturbing about the United episode was how quickly the

situation escalated to violence.

After overbooking the flight, United offered $800 in vouchers to passengers who voluntarily

got off the plane.

$800, apparently, was the magic number. After breaching that limit they resorted to violence.

It shows a pitiful lack of respect for human dignity and a terrible violation of the public

trust.

It�s the same in banking.

Hardly a month goes by without some major banking scandal� colluding on interest rates

and exchange rates, manipulating asset prices, manufacturing fake accounts�

It never stops.

At least airlines pretend to compete with one another and engage in the occasional �fare

war�.

Banks actually conspire to screw their customers.

And even when they get caught there are hardly any consequences.

One guy got dragged off a plane and the Internet lost its mind. But banks abuse their customers

on a daily basis. Where�s the outrage?

If people are angry about United, they should give serious thought to their financial system.

Sadly there are no real alternatives to the airline industry.

If you need to get from Vancouver to London, you pretty much have to fly.

But with banking, there�s a whole world of solutions.

Everything from deposits to lending to exchange services can already be done better, faster,

and cheaper outside of the banking system.

With options like Peer-to-Peer platforms, Blockchain services, or even physical cash

and precious metals, there�s no reason to keep 100% of your savings in a system that

is rigged against you.

Now Reading 'The Messiah Matrix' - Duration: 2:51.

Hi, Debbi Mack here, and I'm going to talk about a book I'm reading right now called

"The Messiah Matrix".

I'm reading it on my Kindle, but I can show you a picture of the cover right here.

Okay, you've seen the cover, so that kind of gives you an idea of why this would be

advertised as essential reading for fans of Dan Brown.

Especially when you start reading, as I have, the first few chapters.

I mean, in the first chapter, there's this frantic man running around to different confessionals

and he finally comes to this priest who is watching him and tells him essentially that

the Catholic church has hired him to off somebody--another member of the church, actually.

A monsignor.

And with an opening like that I was just grabbed immediately.

But then there's also another protagonist, a female archaeologist who gets involved in

finding this precious coin that was created back in the day of the Roman Empire and Jesus

and so forth.

So there's a connection there between the two events obviously.

It's so exciting.

The book is so exciting that I highly recommend that everybody take a look at it.

You don't have to be a Dan Brown fan to love it, because right now I'm reading it and I'm

up to the part where the inquisitive priest who has a somewhat shaky faith … let's put

it that way ... has been essentially, I think, lured into a trap and appears to be in a

situation where he can't get out, but of course I'm thinking he will.

But I'm not going to tell you much more than that, except to say that it's exciting and

if you like thrillers with a religious bent to them, you'll enjoy this book I think.
