What You Don't Know About Beauty Vlogger Jaclyn Hill - Duration: 3:14.

Self-taught makeup artist Jaclyn Hill's popular tutorials quickly catapulted her to fame.

And with her highly-coveted collaborations consistently breaking the internet, she proves

she's a pretty face, powered by a lot of hustle.

But while Hill's brand is certainly slaying, what about the woman behind all the hype?

Here are some things you don't know about this beauty guru.

Her first true love

When Hill started uploading YouTube tutorials in 2012, it was obvious that she had a knack

for beauty.

But makeup wasn't exactly Hill's first career choice.

She initially wanted to be a fashion designer when she was young, telling Women's Wear Daily,

"My first love was fashion.

I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was like, five, six, seven years old, along with

of course wanting to be Britney Spears."

Over time, Hill moved on to photography and videography, and eventually makeup.

She told the mag she used what she could find, saying,

"I had a little shoe box under my bed that was filled with products I would accumulate

from my mom and my sister, their hand-me-down products."

The one that got away

In June 2018, Hill published a reaction video to her first YouTube tutorial.

"I have lip filler and nose filler, so for me to see my nose and lips, I'm like AH!

Who is that?

It's so weird!"

In the video, Hill imitated a Kim Kardashian look.

Fast forward to 2017 and Hill's the one teaching Kardashian the tricks of the trade.

But although Hill dubs the video her "first YouTube video," in reality, it is her second.

She told Women's Wear Daily she deleted her first tutorial, saying,

"My first tutorial was January 12, 2012.

[...] I was so robotic.

I actually deleted that video, my second video is the one I kept up, and I refer to that

one as my first."

Worried about fading out

Despite her overwhelming success, Hill is nervous that she'll one day become irrelevant.

She told Women's Wear Daily,

"I'm like, 'This is my moment, I'm having my moment, and a year from now no one's going

to know my name.'"

With over five million subscribers, it seems that Hill is sitting pretty in pop culture,

at least on YouTube.

But, that's not to say her worries aren't legit.

She says,

"At the end of the day, there's always something new, there's always something fresh, there's

the new generation and the up-and-comers, so who knows."

Managing her mental health

Hill, who admitted she was routinely bullied as a child, opened up to her fans about her

mental health.

She shared in a Shapchat video,

"I dealt with terrible anxiety, I mean like, you've...terrible.

Panic attacks, depression.

So bad."

But even while focusing on her own wellness, she continues to advocate for mental health.

In June 2018, she came to beauty blogger Manny MUA's defense, tweeting: "Depression & anxiety

is not a choice.

It doesn't matter how 'perfect' your life is… you can still be miserable due to it."

Moving forward

Jaclyn was just 19, and blonde, when she married musician Jon Hill in 2009.

But by May 2018, the couple was splitting up.

In an attempt to explain their reasons, Jon wrote in a since-deleted Instagram,

"We were very young and have since both changed and grown apart."

Through tears, the beauty guru herself confirmed the heartbreaking news on her YouTube channel.

But as difficult as she admitted the split was for her, Hill maintained that she still

loves her ex, she's moving on, and she totally adores her fans.

"Thank you for being there for me even when you didn't even know what was going on.

It means the world.

How to Escape a Headlock - Self Defense Techniques - Duration: 3:00.

Hey guys, Nick Drossos and welcome to Code Red defense. Today, we're going to

look at how to escape a headlock. Now, let's look at it from the part

where you're faced with an attacker okay. So if my hands are up okay the same... the dynamics

of a sucker punch. Go for a sucker punch and a headlock. Go for a headlock is exactly

the same, the only difference is that commit, how much you get a commit

inside. If my hands are up, "Go" I should be able to intercept that immediately

whether it's a headbutt I mean whether it's a headlock or a sucker punch. Now,

let's say "shit hit the fan", I missed it, he threw his punch, I came in, he went into

a headlock okay, the first thing you wan to do is lower my center of gravity to make sure he can't

move me. The second thing, I want to make sure I

grab his hand as well as the elbow because what I want to make sure I don't allow

him to start throwing punches okay. What I want to do as well, is I want to tuck in my head

as quickly as possible that if I take any punches to the head I'm taking them

to the top of the forehead. I want to make sure to protect the facial area

because this is where of all the danger part is okay. So if he's punching the top of

the forehead it's not as bad as me getting punched flush in the face. But the idea

is go as soon as he does this, I want to do this and jam, lower my center of

gravity, make sure he can't punch. I'll bring the hand around and this is when

I'll go into the face. As I go into the face

I'm going to drive my hip up and open this as quickly as possible. From there, I

could strike the groin I could buck with the knee and also do

drive him down to the ground as quickly as possible, I could also just slip right

underneath. Now, I'm not going to do any of this bullshit where you put the guy in

a lock but if I just come here and "whack" I struck "boom", "boom"

And I came it here, I would just come right over here and continue my striking okay but

the important part is one make sure to intercept it, two if you put it in the

headlock, lower your center of gravity so he doesn't take you to the ground

tuck in your head, make sure you block this arm, bring this around and even if

he's tall, I could go to the throat, I can go to the the eyes... and do whatever

it is. Drive the hip up, "boom" strike the groin

come in with an elbow, use your knee, slip around. Now, the reality is when this shit

happens you've got to go in attack mode so much. I was showing you which strikes

to go first or second but there's no sequence. Whatever opening you get just

'cause it's easy to underestimate me.

I don't look like a big, tough, typical tattoo guy,

but I've studied art my entire life.

It's my passion.

Once you see my tattoos, it's another story.

- I've only been tattooing for about two and a half years.

I am still in the honeymoon phase of tattooing.

With inexperience comes drive, passion.

These guys have been doing it for 15 years.

They don't have that new, loving feeling about it.

That gives me such an edge against them.

and they're not gonna see it coming...

I've been a painter all my life, though,

so this is just another form of it.

Winning the title of Ink Master is everything.

I grew up in a city of violence.

You're not expected to be anything

just because of where you're from.

I wanna be the one who can look back and say,

"That wasn't my excuse. That was my motivation."

A lot of their designs are just, like, generic, you know?

Like, you're playing it too safe, man.

Safe doesn't win competitions.

- Are you coming into this with a game plan?

- I got a few strategies up my sleeve.

- Out of all the styles,

new school is one of my weak points.

Really can't expose that now,

so it's gotta be black and gray.

I'm gonna do what I need to do to get on a team,

but I don't want a target on my back.

- Cleen is so awesome at his color work and,

you know, that's something that I do all the time.

But Christian is just so good at

black and gray realism and stuff like that,

and I think if I was on his team,

he would really, like, help boost...

- He would help you excel that part of you.

- Like, my realism? Yeah.

I'm going to [bleep] kill everybody

in the most artistic, illustrative way I can.

Just chop them down at the knees.

- Five hours remaining, guys.

This is, like, ten times more pressure

than tattoo convention.

I've been drawing as long as

I've been able to hold a pencil.

I have to make it onto one of these teams.

I thrive in the uncomfortable.

An emergency is not the time to learn your job,

so you need to be prepared for anything and everything

that's thrown at you.

I'm awesome at new school,

and the fact that I get to do it right off the bat

and create my first impression with it--

it gives me a huge advantage.

This is the best case scenario. I'm about to kill it.

I think that I'm a great artist,

and I've nowhere yet met my potential,

you know what I'm saying?

I grew up racing--motocross.

He's the one who taught me how to tattoo.

In Japan, we have different names for

how can I say? It's kinda like an "era"

We had like "Edo period" and "Meiji period" and something like that, right?

If you are familiar with Japanese history

Until 19.....1964

64 right?

Yes 64

Until 1964 (1989), the era was called Showa

And then, from then, we changed it to "heisei"

So I was born in Heisei

But this year is the last year of Heisei

So next year, from...

Anyway from May next year, they're gonna change it from Heisei to something else

And we haven't been announced yet

So we have no idea what kind of name, the era, it's gonna be next year
