Youtube daily report Aug 31 2018

WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.

In today's episode we'll be talking about

what GS is and why it was needed.

We'll also be covering tankers' meetup in Krasnodar

and telling you about international tournaments.

Hello tankers!

More than a week ago

with the Nuclear Energy update a new indicator was added to the game --

Gear Score, or GS.

It is a unified parameter of how powerful your tank is.

After the release we saw quite a few comments like "Why do we need it?",

"It was easier to understand before!" and others.

The GS index is a total score of how many upgrades your currently used tank has.

It shows the modification and upgrades of turrets,

hulls and drone, if it's equipped,

protection levels and in the least if there's a skin and how rare the paint is,

and even the number of supplies that the player has.

This is a short, concise and easy to understand indicator.

We have decided that the tank information displayed in battles

like it was before is excessive.

Tanki Online is too dynamic of a game

to stop and study detailed parameters of tanks during the battle.

At the same time, the numerical index gives an instant understanding --

"this tank is cooler than mine, I need to be careful" or

"this tank is so weak, it's practically done."

Another thing is -- Gear Score may show an incorrect number.

This issue occurred most often right after the update was released.

Now the mechanic works correctly, but with one clarification:

on a rare occasion it may still be incorrect, and here's why:

since GS was added to the game, we've made several changes to the system.

After such changes the numbers on some accounts could become incorrect,

but it can be easily solved -- just change any piece of equipment.

In the future, Gear Score will look very fitting to the new interface,

which is being prepared for the HTML5-version of the game.

It will be done in the same unified style as the interface of the mobile version,

but, of course, adapted for computers.

We will tell you more about the new interface in one of the upcoming episodes.

The tankers' meetup in Krasnodar is already happening next Saturday.

We remind you: the meetup starts 10 AM UTC.

We have already mentioned the event schedule,

but let's check it a bit closer:

First of all, of course --

the introduction from Semyon Strizhak about the latest changes in the game

and development plans for the future.

Right after that we will answer your questions like

"why? when? and what if?".

Next will come the on-stage quiz.

We ask you about the game and Tanki history.

There will be a lot of questions of various difficulty and many different prizes,

including a Prestigio tablet for the most difficult question.

After such a hard quiz there will be another one

- a quieter one.

We give you a big challenge, and you can solve it using your phones.

Among the prizes there's also tablets!

Also there will be a giveaway for all guests,

open-air games where you can win smaller prizes

and a bonus for those who bought the Tanki in Krasnodar kit.

So invite your friends, moms and dads and come to the event!

At the beginning of this month a duo tournament called "Holiday Rail"

started in the Polish community.

Every team who had players with ranks from Brigadier to Legend

could join the tournament,

and after many intense battles the Group stage ended last week.

Now it's time to reveal who the king of XP in Poland is

and who's gonna get precious "Lime" paint along with tons of crystals!

With only 4 teams remaining in the competition

you will be able to watch the Grand Final live

on the official Polish spectators channel.

Good luck to all!

Video of the Week.

In the last episode we asked you to record a video about the new Vulcan update,

let's watch the best video!

For the next episode record a video showing off what you're capable of.

It's up to you to decide what it means, but you must wear the Metallic paint.

That's it for today's episode!

We congratulate all students on the start of a new academic and school year!

Follow the news and don't miss the tankers' meetup.

Bye!

Last week Magnum shot at a bunch of tanks,

and you had to guess how many would blow up.

The right answer is -- 3.

Let's welcome the winners and here's the new question:

Who will destroy the Mammoth?

Vanessa Sunshine Smashes Her Way To A Date | The Bachelor Australia - Duration: 8:49.

Ladies let's get into the very last test of the day we're testing to see how much

of an impression Nick has made upon you by finding out how much you know about

Nick I'm gonna give you the answers first and you're gonna have to tell me

what the question is however this test has a twist if you get

the answer correct and someone does not get the answer correct you will be able

to break the heart of the lady with the incorrect answer if I break the heart I

mean grab a hammer and smash it oh I can't break one of each

just one cat and Vanessa sunshine haven't gotten along from day dot

they've got a bit of beef in the house so the virus tense it's gonna be good

the last lady left with an unbroken heart we'll get to spend some time alone

with Nick I think out of everyone in the house Vanessa sunshine least deserves

one-on-one time with Nick because she's not here for him she doesn't like him

and she's a bit of a pest y'all understand how this works

yeah that's why cat is very competitive and she's not humble in the way she goes

about it good luck she's pretty cocky and

sure why here we go mysterious girl is a equality that Nick looks for in a

partner be the girl that his mother warned him about or see Nick's favorite

song to play on the ukulele my favorite turn to playing the ukulele you get to

break a heart do you really want to know she could be a little bit more

competition than I compare these two to be honest I would have really loved to

smash all of those girls hearts but I found Alexandra a little bit more

of a threat than I find Vanessa and Blair yeah look if that's what Kat

thinks that's what she thinks but might prove me wrong poached eggs avocados

salmon egg toast is this a next go to breakfast P the foods that Nick is

allergic to or see the meal that Nick eats before bed every night poached eggs

avocados salmon and toasts is my go-to brekkie

Alex you're the only one that got it wrong so

cat went after Alexander first because she thought Alexander was a bigger

threat than Blair and I husband Alex I'm afraid your ad

turns out she was wrong sleeveless flannelette shirt is it a mix favorite

article of clothing be the oldest thing that Nick owns or is it C the worst

birthday present Nick can imagine being given Vanessa and Blair you get to break

some hearts Vanessa would you like to go first

brutal cat who's hiding a break with cat

that cat absolutely brutal but actually seem to be pretty excited about that why

oh you know Blair and I bring together so I can't you do it

you know Blair's marry me and I was just like Oh mate like they say something

interesting like you don't like me say it give a Southie response cat made some

snide little comments and I wasn't impressed so yeah I'm not gonna lie

that's why I'm not doing arts off yeah oh good good luck pissed off thanks boy

oh yeah sometimes you shouldn't be so cocky because you'll get knocked down

Vanessa you have pretty close to winning this to be honest if I was gonna lose to

anyone Vanessa sunshine would have been my pet she's just boring she's so vain

she thinks her shit doesn't stink yeah I just I was just excited for him to see

her her shitty personality here we go Beryl isn't a Knicks grandmother's name

be the name of Nick's family cat or see a small town in which Nick once broke

down while on a road trip Vanessa you've got it correct

I just felt like she like kind of like warped over there like I'm sorry Blair

like mate are you joking congratulations clearly nick has made quite an

impression on you Vanessa sunshine won the game she looked

so miserable like Sean who died can you not crack a smile from what I've seen

Vanessa doesn't smile a great deal but I've expended much time with her she's

probably a barrel of laughs so it's not good opportunity for me to

get down there see if I can expose those pearly whites well pull up a stump but

that's a good finally spent some time with you so talk to me Nessa

what about blogs what are you what are you looking for in a guy what are you

just someone honest to a little bit laughing wise or humor or that sort of

sort of thing it depends on the situation okay okay

got any dad jokes no I don't get them you don't understand them or you don't

but I don't know why people think it's funny okay

basically 94% of my Arsenal is now been wiped out and I'll have to dig deep and

find something better okay tell me you've got a weekend off

what are you gonna do this weekend as in you know let's just say you did get a

weekend off what would you do with it I would be make up free gym brunch brunch

because would you miss Becky miss lunch oh gee it's a melting dream brunch is

like breakfast and lon so you you have leaner as well you know yeah lunch and

dinner take in the middle that's not real oh so they're all staff it was a

Melbourne thing I thought I could just have a stab in the dark didn't work here

let's just say this is actually hurting my back a little bit real yeah I haven't

seen Vanessa laughs so it comes down to four things I believe and see that Hey

a connection is an ideal B she doesn't like laughing see

she doesn't like smiling or D my jokes aren't funny we all know that's not it

so it's gonna be a B or C

luckily my bedroom backs on to where their date was so I'll feel the other

girls and I were peeking out the window and it was just a lot of Vanessa doing

like hair flex and speaking like this it didn't look too flash they didn't look

like much Kim was flying around Vanessa thank you so much for this date

I'll pack all this up you hit up get some sleep and I'll start the pack up I

genuinely have no clue who he is and

HUGE NEWS TRUMP DROPS NUKE ON BILL CLINTON - Duration: 12:52.

HUGE NEWS TRUMP DROPS NUKE ON BILL CLINTON

Donald Trump ran for President to undo the horrible deals past Presidents such as Bill

Clinton agreed to.

His campaign to Make America Great Again centered on this one promise.

That is why all hell is breaking loose after what Trump did to Bill Clinton.

Donald Trump Undoes One Of Bill Clinton's Legacy Achievements

During his campaign, Donald Trump railed against trade deals like NAFTA.

Bill Clinton signed NAFTA, which had wrecked the American industry.

Trump stated this deal shipped jobs overseas and allowed other countries to take advantage

of America.

He promised to cancel the deal altogether unless Mexico and Canada agreed to pro-America

changes.

The three countries began talks this year, while anti-Trump journalists made fun of Trump's

threats to put tariffs on goods from those countries.

The President – however – saw the tariffs as a chance to force Canada and Mexico to

the table.

Their industries had done very well under the NAFTA agreement, so Trump had to pressure

them.

Trump Scores A Big Victory Trump's gamble paid off.

Anti-Trump journalists were stunned when Trump and Mexico's President agreed to change

NAFTA.

Trump said he was renaming a new deal that would benefit American industries and workers.

"They used to call it NAFTA.

We're going to call it the United States-Mexico Trade Agreement, and we'll get rid of the

name NAFTA," Trump stated.

The new agreement benefits America carmakers and textile companies.

Anti-Trump reporters laughed at Trump for thinking he could strike a new deal.

They claimed that because he was a racist, Mexico would never agree to terms that would

profit America.

But Trump has always stated that the U.S. holds the upper hand in any deal.

Other countries need to be able to sell their goods in America.

Trump used that advantage to win a new deal, even when his critics claimed it was out of

reach.

Donald Trump's Next Step Since Canada is also part of NAFTA, Trump

threatened to make the new deal just between America and Mexico in order to force Canada

to accept the new agreement.

He said he would impose new tariffs if Canada does not agree to the new deal.

"I think with Canada, frankly, the easiest thing we can do is to tariff their cars coming

in.

It's a tremendous amount of money and it's a very simple negotiation.

It could end in one day and we take in a lot of money the following day.

But I think we'll give them a chance to probably have a separate deal.

We can have a separate deal or we can put it into this deal," Trump stated.

Canadian President Justin Trudeau realized Trump was serious and spoke with Trump about

a new NAFTA agreement.

Trump proved the critics wrong with his new NAFTA deal.

Anti-Trump journalists tried to scare the American people with doomsday stories about

the economy tanking if Trump ditched NAFTA.

But the President knows that America holds all the cards.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this ongoing story.

Trump Uncovers Massive Fraud Obama Left Behind – Rains Down HELL

Senator Rand Paul (KY-R) just spoke out to expose the significant waste taking place

with government ranks as he advocates for his balanced budget plan, which the Senate

voted 76-21 to reject.

After the vote, Paul took to Twitter to highlight the various taxpayer-funded projects that

government has a part in that he feels American taxpayers should not have to pay for.

Right Wing News reported that these projects included an unfinished Afghanistan hotel that

wasted some $90 million American taxpayer dollars, a study on supernatural events in

Alaska and Pakistani student trips to Space Camp and Dollywood.

Another project Paul mentioned was done by the National Science Foundation, which is

a federal agency supporting research and education in science and engineering.

Paul mentioned a study from the NSF about cocaine and risky sex habits of the Japanese

quail.

This unnecessary study is costing American taxpayers more than $356,000.00 and the Senate

is refusing to curtail this level of waste of American resources.

Given the fact that we just got through eight years of Barack Obama being in power, it should

come as no surprise that he left this mess behind for American taxpayers to deal with.

Donald Trump has spent much of the past year cleaning up Obama's various messes as he

continues to try and make this country great again.

What do you think about this?

☔🌧⛈Top 5 FUN Rainy Day Activities for Families at Home - Duration: 3:43.

Wanna find out the 5 best activities to do with your kids on a rainy day?

Stick around and we will count them down.

Hey it's Stacey here from Stacey Jane's nappy cakes.

If your new here make sure you click that subscribe & notifications button so you are

kept up to date when new content comes out each week.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these ideas yourself or which of these

ideas is your most favourite.

I'd love to hear from you!

Here are my top 5 rainy day activities to keep those active kids occupied.

Number 5.

Let the kitchen sizzle.

What can be better than to sip a bowl of steaming, savoury soup on a blustery day?

If your family loves food and cooking, a rainy day is a fabulous chance to whip a family

favourite or to experiment with a new recipe.

You can teach the kids a guarded family tradition.

While you supervise you could let the older kids run the show while the young ones can

be the helpers.

Number 4.

Go hunt with your binoculars.

Is your family the outdoorsy type?

Let them get that connection with the great outdoors through a game using binoculars.

List down a set of items you would like them to hunt outside using your binoculars from

a window.

You could choose things like an oak tree, a bird, an insect, a green bit of glass.

The child that gets to tick off the most items in the list wins.

Number 3.

Belt it out with some karaoke.

Is musicality running in your blood?

If it does, singing along with a karaoke machine can be a wonderful way to spend several hours

of a rainy day.

Even the very young kids can have lots of fun if you have songs appropriate for their

age group.

Number 2.

Get those creative juices flowing.

Is the family oozing with artistry?

Then make sure to keep a craft box filled with the kind of materials you can use to

do a project together.

Depending on the age of the kids, you can introduce them to an appropriate project that

you can finish in a few hours.

And finally Number 1.

Camp in your family room.

This is an interesting alternative for families that gravitate to outdoor activities.

This is a good opportunity to teach young kids different camping skills appropriate

for their age such as making knots and doing simple chores.

So take out those tents, or even just a few blankets and some chairs for a make shift

tent and serve them a meal in camping type bowls.

Hand them a deck of cards or some toys they can play with while inside the tent.

If you are adventurous and spirited, you might want your kids to experience fun under the

rain.

Let them don a pair of rubber boots and splash pants before playing in the rain puddles.

You can let them enjoy a shower under the rain for a short while.

These are just some ways to make your kids love rainy days and make them memorable days

of their childhood.

Thanks for watching today if you like this video please give it a thumbs up, subscribe

for more content like this and make sure you let me know in the comments below which of

these activities you loved the best!

Truth or Dare is a scary option for horror fans: EW review - Duration: 2:13.

Truth or Dare (Movie) type Movie release date 04/13/18 performer Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey director Jeff Wadlow mpaa PG-13 Genre Horror We gave it a B  Regardless of what you may think about Donald Trump's wish to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, Truth or Dare suggests there is one category of potential immigrants which will find such an edifice no obstacle at all: games-loving supernatural entities

In this latest low-budget, high-concept horror film from Blumhouse Productions (Get Out, Split) a group of friends — including characters played by Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), and Violette Beane (The Flash) — head south of the border for one last bout of hearty partying before graduation

Toward the end of their vacation, Hale's Olivia is hit on by the seemingly friendly Carter (Landon Liboiron), who invites the group to a creepy and remote mission where they start playing the titular game

Before you can say, "Who the blue blazes goes to a remote and creepy mission and plays Truth or Dare while on vacation?" the band of friends has returned to America where they find themselves forced to continue participating in this, as it turns out, fatal iteration of the pastime overseen by some sort of demonic creature hellbent on their destruction

Matters swiftly go from bad to worse, as the entity periodically takes over one of their bodies to grinningly insist on a high-stakes truth or body-threatening dare, such as the instruction that Sophia Ali's boozy Penelope walk around the edge of a high roof until she has finished drinking a bottle of liquor

Peter Iovino/Universal  Hale and Posey are likable leads and director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) injects proceedings with a propulsiveness which allows you to mostly ignore the odd plot strand which doesn't really pay off or the general air of preposterousness

In truth, given the bonkers set-up, the film's deaths could be more daring or imaginative in the manner of the Rube Goldbergian mayhem to be found in the Final Destination movies, the horror franchise which this film most closely resembles

But the result is still an effective enough scare machine. B

3DEXPERIENCE Tutorial: create 3D curves from their parametric equation - Duration: 4:13.

This video shows how to create a 3D curve defined by a parametric equation

to create a logarithmic spiral for example defined like this:

Create a new part and follow this process step by step

create these two parameters

then create Laws to define X and Y

with a parameter "v" of type real that will vary from "0" to "1"

create a vertical Line

and use parallel command with the laws

combine these 2 curves

and project the result on xy plane

to drive the number of loops to draw,

create a parameter of type Integer

and change the Laws like this

With this method you can create all kinds of ornamental curve for architecture, like the butterfly curve for example, in exact definition

QUICHE WITH SALMON AND BROCCOLI in a corn and whole wheat flour - Duration: 8:08.

KESH WITH SALMON AND BROKCOLES on corn and whole wheat flour

If you get in the way of subtitles - turn them off!

Hello everyone, with you Dina! Welcome to my "Recipes Collection" channel.

Today we prepare the delicious open pie from the short pastry - KISH with salmon and broccoli.

Traditionally, these shortcakes are prepared with a short dough based on white wheat flour,

but I wanted to try to cook this insanely delicious cake based on corn flour, which will give a lot of friability sand test and wheat whole grain, which is much more useful than ordinary white flour.

So, let's get started. First, prepare the dough for our French pie.

In the bowl, in which we will knead the dough, we pour out the previously sifted corn flour and whole wheat flour.

I will use the flour Kudesnitsa - it has perfect milling and excellent quality!

Mix 2 types of flour and rub it into a very cold, you can say ice butter.

We rub our hands with flour together with oil, we need to do this quickly, so that the oil does not melt away.

It should turn out a small cold crumb.

Add salt, sugar, and 1 yolk to the bowl, and use the protein from this egg a little later.

All is well mixed and literally for 1 spoon we add ice water to the dough, each time mixing well.

Take the water so much so that the dough begins to gather in a single lump, I needed 4 tablespoons for this.

Quickly knead the dough until the oil has melted and collect it into a bowl.

In contrast to the shortcake, prepared in a traditional way on wheat flour,

the dough on cornmeal absorbs a little more water, it turns out more friable and thus does not demand before a baking preliminary cooling in a refrigerator.

The dough is ready!

I will bake in a glass refractory shape, 28 cm in diameter.

We spread the dough into a mold, and since it is already fat, you do not need to lubricate it beforehand.

We distribute the dough with an even layer over the whole surface of the mold, including forming the borders 3-4 cm high.

If it is convenient to do it by hand or use a small roller.

The base of the shortcake is ready and now we will send it to the oven,

for this very often pierce the dough with a fork so that when baking it does not swell, cover the dough with foil or as in my case with baking paper and pour out the cargo.

As a cargo, you can use beans, peas, rice or special ceramic balls for baking.

Once bought a red rice, but it did not please us, now I apply it for these purposes.

We send the form to the oven preheated to 190 ° C (374 ° F) for 15 minutes.

In the meantime, let's deal with the filling.

To boil the broccoli, we place a small saucepan of water on the stove, add salt and bring the water to a boil.

Simultaneously, pour the vegetable oil into the frying pan and while it is warming up, cut the bulb into a small cube.

We send the chopped onion into a pan and fry until golden.

And while the onions are fried, cut the fish into small pieces, if there are stones - we must remove them.

Do not forget to stir the onions periodically.

In boiling salted water we send the inflorescence fresh or as in my case frozen broccoli and blanch for 3-4 minutes.

In a well fried onion, crush 2-3 cloves of garlic, stir and fry for no more than 1 minute, and while it is fried we cut the fish and send it to the frying pan.

Stir very carefully so as not to break the pieces of fish.

Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground pepper, stir again and fry literally 1-2 minutes, so that the fish only turns white outside, but inside it remains damp.

We shift the fish filling to a plate, let it cool down.

Broccoli is also ready, put on another plate and let it cool.

For the filling we also need cheese, which must be grated on a large grater.

Use any hard cheese that you like.

If the broccoli inflorescence is large, cut them into small pieces.

And while we were preparing the products for the filling, the base for our cake is already baked, we take it out of the oven.

We remove the paper along with the load and give the substrate a slight shudder.

The cake and the filling are ready, it remains to prepare the pouring pie.

For this, I knocked 3 eggs in a bowl and added the protein that we left from the preparation of the dough.

Mix the eggs with a whisk, add salt, a little turmeric for the color and freshly ground pepper.

Once again, everything is well mixed.

We add fat cream or sour cream to the egg mixture, I will use sour cream.

All mixed and poured finely chopped dill, which is perfectly combined with the taste of red fish.

The pouring is ready and we need to collect the pie.

On a sandwich base, evenly lay out pieces of red fish with fried onion and garlic.

Between the pieces of fish distribute small inflorescences of broccoli, generously sprinkled with cheese and pour prepared egg-sour cream.

Reduce the temperature in the oven to 170 ° C (338 ° F) and bake the cake for another 1 hour.

Readiness of the pie is determined by the presence of a golden crust, while the filling should thicken and become dense.

After an hour our cake is ready, we take it out of the oven and let it cool down a bit.

We put the warm pie on the dish and serve it to the table.

A thin crispy dough made from corn and whole-grain flour turned out to be tender and crumbly, while keeping the shape well and cutting it perfectly.

That's how the pie looks on the cut, it's completely propeksya.

Red fish is ideally combined with sweet broccoli, creamy taste of melted cheese and tender egg-sour cream.

Curcuma gives the cake a beautiful yellowish color, but the taste of the pie can not be conveyed in words, it should be tried!

I've baked similar pies for a long time, but this time I wanted to replace the usual white flour with a mixture of whole grains and corn, and I must say that the pie was a success!

As you noticed, I often cook pastries using flour from different cereals - it's not only tasty, but also very healthy.

I recommend to cook and taste this wonderful pie! I wish everyone a pleasant appetite!

Shaking Beef Recipe (Bo Luc Lac) | Vietnamese Recipes - Duration: 9:04.

hey everyone welcome to Pai's Kitchen

today we are going to make a Vietnamese

dish with a super fun name Shaking Beef

or what they called "Bo Luc Lac" now

this dish I loved it so much when I used

to be a restaurant chef I put it on the

menu and it was super popular so I'm

happy to be sharing it with you today so

think of these as little marinated steak

cubes that are so flavorful goes great

with rice and it's so easy to put

together totally weeknight dinner material.

let's get started let's look at

the beef now as you see this dish

doesn't have a whole lot going on other

than the beef so it's very important

that you use good quality beef so I am

using rib eye here it's one of my

favorite cuts nice and tender but also

flavorful lots of marbling going through

if you want you can do tenderloin if you

want a little fancy or sirloin as well

anything that you would like in a big

steak form would work for this all right

and then I just cut them into about one

inch cubes bite-sized cubes now the

marinade is the trio of my favorite

and of course you got to have some fish

sauces oyster sauce and some soy sauce

sauce and so stick with the theme I am

using Vietnamese fish sauce for this

there we go a little bit of sugar just

to balance out the saltiness this is

sort of my trick but I love to add just

a little bit of black soy sauce into it

and black soy sauce is not very salty

but it is very dark and it's just gonna

make everything look that much more

scrumptious if you don't have it you can

substitute dark soy sauce but then you

need to cut down on your soy regular soy

sauce measurement because dark soy sauce

like Chinese dark soy sauce it's a

little saltier now could add some garlic

to this and I'm gonna use my handy dandy

microplane to get my garlic superfine so

it's well distributed basically liquefy

liquefied into that marinade or make a

paste with your knife whatever you'd

like and then of course we got beef so

you're gonna have to add some black

pepper

because you just can't have one without

the other give that a good mix now as

you stir you start to notice that all

that pooling liquid is less and less on

the bottom that's a good thing you want

all that sauce to absorb into the beef

now I like to let this marinate twenty

minutes thirty minutes really not a long

time I've done it where I let it

marinate overnight and the salt in all

the sauces kind of almost cures the beef

a little bit and the textures not as

nice so this is a situation where it's

actually better to marinate for less a

few hours is okay so that's the meat I'm

gonna let that sit and I just want to

show you my tomatoes for a second so I'm

using cherry tomatoes for this to add

some color and just contrast of acidity

you don't have to you can do big

tomatoes you don't have to add any

vegetables if you like but if you want

to do a cherry tomatoes like me what I

like to do is poke them with the knife

so you create a bit of an opening

because what happens I'm gonna throw

these into the wok briefly to get them

heated up but if you there's no opening

sometimes the juice inside gets really

hot and steamy and then you eat it and

that hot juice explode in your mouth

like it's it's not a pleasant experience

so to prevent that from happening you

give it a little bit of opening to

prevent cherry tomato bombs from going

off so before we cook I'm gonna just put

a little bit of oil just cooking oil I'm

using avocado oil here just to get all

the pieces evenly coated in oil because

I'm not gonna do too much tossing around

once it's in the wok just a little bit

of oil in there oh that wok heat it up

really fast okay I got just a tiny bit

of oil in there and then I'm gonna just

drop the beef in but instead of pouring

everything and I'm just gonna do one by

one cuz I don't want too much excess

marinade sort of cooling around and it

can burn

okay and now I'm going to let that fear

don't move them it's not time to shake

cut it yet until it has a nice browning

on the bottom side and then when you

have that then you shake the pan around

to toss them around and that's where the

shaping beef comes from and we pray that

the smoke alarm is not going to go off

in the middle of this okay I got some

nice browning pick up my wok and it give

it a shake let's do that again just cuz

it's fun there we go so now I go in and

they make sure I flip anything that

didn't really flip to the other side all

right it's pretty good there most of

them flips to the other side now

throwing my tomatoes right now so they

have some time to cook and now at this

point you can be done if you want the

myrrh

if you want to medium rare or whatever

then it's up to you at this point when

you want to pull the beef off and now

because we already have some browning

going on you can shake the pan as much

as you want to get the tomatoes coated

to get you know to get them moving

because it's fun

all right I kind of want these still

pretty pink in the middle so I'm gonna

cut it and just like that fastest dinner

ever so in the restaurant I serve this

with like a little fennel salad with a

vinaigrette you can do that if you want

but to keep it simple I've just got some

butter lettuce here just something to

munch on to cut the grease and then the

beef goes right on it the smell right

now is irresistible so good now because

this is really rich and you know there's

fatty beef in there a little bit of

pickles it's nice to cut the grease so

I've got here just some pickled red

onion it's really easy I'll include the

instructions in the written recipe but

it's like the easiest because you can

never make but if you have sauerkraut

and you like that you can serve that

with that if you want pickled mustard

greens for those of you agents out there

that's got some pickled mustard greens

in the house but pickled red onion it's

also very pretty

so I like to add that on there you go

and then you save the rest for on the

side and then so I like it just like

this but sometimes you see it's served

with a dipping sauce and the dipping

sauce is simply a mixture of salt black

pepper and then some lime so I'll just

let just squeeze some lime right on top

of here a lot of times what I'll do

because I do like the lime I would just

serve it with a wedge of lime and then

you can squeeze that directly on top

because I don't feel like it needs any

more salt in here but just showing you

an option something you can do and that

is it yes and there isn't a lot of sauce

in this dish that's exactly what you

want you want all that flavor on the

beef itself now I'm just gonna cut one

open just to show you the doneness that

I have but again you can make it as rare

or well-done as

you like so Oh mine is just so perfectly

pink my god make sure I get a piece of

pickled onion on there smell of charred

beef follow up with a tomato the other

side of my feet Oh that'd be so

perfectly tender super flavorful I mean

I'm telling you that combination of

oyster sauce soy sauce and fish sauce

like cannot go wrong in so many

different situations and it's so easy

and if you're a meat lover guarantee you

this is it right here so I hope you give

this a try the recipe as always will be

If You Have This Type of Car, You Need This to Prevent Damage to Your Engine - Oil Catch Can - Duration: 6:46.

rev up your engines, today I'm gonna talk

about something that you should put on

certain modern engines if you want them

to last a long time and run correctly

and that's an oil catch can I'll give

you a little history lesson to show you

why some modern cars should have them

put on if you don't want carbon buildup

on the intake valves now all internal

combustion engines build up pressure

inside the crankcase because as the

Pistons go up and down they're pushing

a lot of air up and down there's a

little blow-by of burning oil and gas

pressure, so pressure builds up inside

the crankcase of all engines and if that

pressure isn't released, it would build

up inside the crankcase it would blow

the seals, do damage to the engine of

course then all the oil would leak out

so it has to be vented somehow, now when

I was a young mechanic in the 1960s the

older cars just had a vent it was just a

hose that came up went behind the bottom

of the engine and when you're driving

down a road that vapor was just vented

and you'd see on older cars smoke coming

out of it, it just went straight to the

atmosphere, then later on they put a

little hose on the top and then they'd

run that to the beginning of the air

filter and there was a tiny little air

filter inside there that would filter

the big chunks out then the engine would

suck that in and burn it inside but that in

itself created problems and polluted

more so we have the modern PCV system

there's a PCV valve that vents it goes

into the intake and then this stuff is

burnt inside the engine, now on a car

with normal fuel injectors like this

Toyota where the injectors are on the

intake manifold and they spray gas

directly into the intake valves, now it's

a simple PCV system and the fuel

injectors on the intake it didn't cause

any problems because any of that crud if

it got on the valves the fuel injectors

are spraying gas then it goes right over

the valves into the engine and gasoline

is a very good solvent, so it kept the

valves clean and you don't have to worry about

them carboning up but then came the

GDI gasoline engines gasoline direct

injection, many companies made them

Volkswagen did it a whole bunch in theirs

and what they found out was the

Volkswagens with the GDI systems were

getting huge buildup of crud carbon on

the intake valves, since on these GDI

engines the injectors weren't here on

the intake, they're actually built right

into the block of the engine, then there

was no clean gasoline spraying on the

intake valves to keep them clean the

only thing that was going over those

valves was air being sucked in and the

mess from the PCV that was venting the

crank system, oil particles some carbon

particles, it would make a mess so all that

crud from the PCV system would bake onto

the valves and I've seen Volkswagens

they had to pull the heads off and they

had actually walnut blast all the

build-up crud cuz it was so thick and so

hard, you can't sandblast it cuz that

would ruin the valves, walnuts are softer

so they use walnut shells and they would

blast it off which is a very expensive

job to do, now some cleaners can get

thinner bits off but even there are a

lot of manufacturers warn people don't

use those cleaners because if it breaks

a chunk off and it's turbocharged that

could ruin a turbocharger, it could clog

up the catalytic converter, it could do all

kinds of damage so you want to prevent

that kind of buildup in the first place

and that's where the oil catch-can comes in

it does what it says, it catches the oil

and impurities before they get into the

engine, now this being a Toyota even

though it's got 240,000 miles on it, it

doesn't need one of these but here's

what you do if you wanted to put one on, you

simply remove the PCV hose and put this

in place, you put the in here and you put the out here on

the engine which would suck it in, the good ones like

these say in and out, and this one's so

cool it's got a little dipstick it's got

an oil dipstick in it, so you can measure it and

when it's getting full then you drain

this out, yeah this device is for people

who maintain their cars correctly

because you do have to empty it out

every once in a while, now these catch

cans you really would want to put them

on a GDI engine at least the older style

ones and you can also use them on old

junky engines that use a lot

have a lot of blow-by because this would

hold the oil, it would keep it from

getting any engine and messing with the

valves and also clogging up the

catalytic converter, now on a really

modern GDI engine you don't need an oil catch

can, you take a 2018 Toyota Corolla

those have a dual system, they have GDI

injectors that are built right onto the

block but they also have regular fuel

injectors that are in front of the

valves, so some of the times it sprays

them in front of the valves to clean the

valve so they don't carbon up but when

it's running most of the time it uses

the GDI injectors to get more power and

better gas mileage, many other

manufacturers have that new system the

dual system because they learned from

their mistake, you'd think that somebody

would have thought in the first place

hey gee if we use GDI the PCV valve will

put gunk and clog up all the intake

valves, but I guess they didn't test it

out good enough or they weren't thinking

ahead of time, because the newer ones you

don't need to put a catch can on cuz

they don't have that problem but there

are millions of cars out there with GDI

engines that don't have it, they have

just the GDI injectors and you really

need to put an oil catch can on them if

you don't want the valves to get carboned

up and as you can see from this video

it's a real easy thing to do, it's got a

mounting bracket you can put it wherever

you want, the hoses are pretty long so

you can put them on a firewall wherever

you want, just make sure you get a

quality one that does have baffles and

filtration inside, because if it doesn't

have baffles and it'll still suck the

oil in, you want something that's going

to keep the oil from coming up and

staying on a bottom and then every once

in a while like this one, you check it

when it's getting full you have to empty

the thing out, so now you know all about

oil catch cans, how you should use them

on the old-style GDI engines or if you

got a really old junker car, put one on

there they don't cost that much and they

can prevent a lot of damage down the

line,

so if you never want to miss another one

of my new car repair videos, remember to

ring that Bell!

Should You Be Factor Investing? | Common Sense Investing - Duration: 8:17.

Factor investing is currently one of the hottest terms used to sell financial products.

You may have also heard the term smart beta, which is referring to the same concept.

A simple way to think about factors is that they are quantitative characteristics shared

across a set of securities.

The reason that we care about factors is that those characteristics can be used to structure

an investment portfolio to outperform the market without the need to rely on stock picking

or market timing.

Factors are on the cutting edge of financial market research, but they are also being used

to market products that may be detrimental to investors.

Don't get me wrong, factors are more than a sales pitch.

They are the mechanisms that drive asset returns.

I'm Ben Felix, Associate Portfolio Manager at PWL Capital.

In this episode of Common Sense Investing, I'm going to tell you about factor investing.

Before we understood factors, researchers were noticing that diversified portfolios

of small stocks were outperforming diversified portfolios of larger stocks.

At the time there was no explanation for this difference, and the performance difference

may have been attributed to the skill of the portfolio manager.

As factor research emerged, it became clear that stocks with certain characteristics could

explain a lot of the differences in returns of diversified portfolios.

The reason that we care about factors is that those performance differences have been positive.

Capturing positive return differences exhibited by certain types of stocks has an obvious

benefit to investors.

Currently, factor models explain over 95% of the return differences between diversified

portfolios.

This is problematic for active fund managers because their ability to beat the market,

which was previously assumed to be due to their skill, can in many cases be explained

by factor exposure.

This is a big deal for investors because if you can get market beating returns with a

factor index fund as opposed to an active manager you will save a lot on fees.

Here is a concrete example to explain what I mean.

In a classic 2015 blog post, my PWL colleague Justin Bender took a handful of actively managed

market-beating mutual funds suggested by Globe and Mail columnist Rob Carrick and performed

a three-factor regression.

In other words, he used some analysis to show how much of their performance could be attributed

to factor exposure as opposed to manager skill.

In most cases the outperformance was fully explained by factor exposure, and in one case

it was mostly explained.

This means that while these active funds did beat the market, they did so by holding more

small cap and value stocks than the market, not by skillfully picking the right stocks

at the right time.

Holding more small cap and value stocks than the market is something that an index investor

can replicate at a fraction of the cost of an actively managed fund.

Research on factors emerged in the 1992 paper by Eugene Fama and Ken French titled The Cross-Section

of Expected Stock Returns.

In the paper, they observe that small stocks outperformed large stocks over time, and value

stocks outperformed growth stocks over time.

The explanation for the return differences is that stocks with these characteristics,

small stocks and value stocks, are riskier.

Investors must expect higher returns to own riskier assets.

In 1997, Mark Carhart added the momentum factor to the body of research, and later, in 2012

Robert Novy-Marx added the profitability factor.

This gave us five factors which together explain over 95% of the return differences between

diversified portfolios.

Fama and French came out with their five-factor model in 2014, combining market, size, relative

price, profitability, and investment, while ignoring momentum.

The ultimate factor model is unknown, but researchers continue to test new factor models

to increase the explanatory power of the model.

Factor research has become not only important to our understanding of finance and investing,

but a way for academic researchers to make a name for themselves.

After all, Fama was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2013 for his

work on asset pricing.

This academic competition for discovery of the next factor has resulted in many, many

research papers being published claiming to have identified new factors.

Duke University's Campbell Harvey, Texas A&M's Yan Liu, and University of Oklahoma's Heqing

Zhu have identified over 300 factors in academic literature.

This is problematic for investors.

Targeting five factors in a portfolio is hard enough.

What do you do if there are 300 of them?

Unfortunately for the researchers, and fortunately for investors, many of these factors do not

pan out.

In many cases they turn out to be a re-packaging of the original factors.

There is a sniff-test for investors to know when a factor is worth pursuing, and when

it should be ignored.

To be taken seriously a factor should be persistent, pervasive, robust to alternative specifications,

investable, and sensible.

It is worth digging into each of these characteristics.

For a factor to be persistent it must show up through time and not be limited to a specific

time period.

To be pervasive a factor must hold true across various countries, regions, and sectors.

Robust to alternative specifications means that the factor should not be affected if

you slightly change how the characteristic is defined.

Investable is extremely important - it means that if the factor cannot be cost-effectively

captured in portfolios it is not helpful to investors.

Momentum is an example of this.

The momentum factor meets many of the previous characteristics, but it is a high-turnover

strategy.

This makes it expensive to implement in a portfolio.

If there is no sensible explanation for a factor, then it may not be expected to persist.

Again, momentum is an example.

Unlike the risk explanation for small and value stocks, momentum does not have a sensible

explanation.

While many factor products have emerged, there are very few companies creating factor products

that get me excited.

One company that has done and continues to do an excellent job in this space is Dimensional

Fund Advisors.

The research on factors is a commodity - anyone can access it.

The difference between implementing factors well and poorly comes down to how the company

vets the factor research, who does the vetting, how they interpret the data, and their ability

to understand of the limitation of factor models.

The founder of Dimensional Fund Advisors, David Booth, has said "The research is out

there for anybody to access.

What distinguishes Dimensional is the way we implement the ideas."

While I do believe that a factor portfolio is optimal, Dimensional Fund Advisors' products

can only be accessed through specific firms, like PWL Capital.

Based on this, and with a lack of ETFs, especially in Canada, that are effectively capturing

well-researched factors at a reasonable cost, I think that DIY investors are probably better

off, at least for now, focusing on simplicity rather than pursuing factors.

The Canadian Couch Potato model portfolios used to pursue the size and value factors,

but Dan changed the models in 2015 to ignore factors entirely.

Part of his explanation was that "many DIYers make costly mistakes when they try to juggle

too many funds.

Meanwhile, there are exactly zero investors in the universe who failed to meet their financial

goals because they did not hold global REITs or small-cap value stocks."

I agree with him in full.

Have you tried to implement a factor portfolio?

Tell me how it went in the comments.

Thanks for watching.

Diversity in Brazilian Films Sucks Too! (Interview w/Sabrina Fidalgo) - Duration: 8:19.

Most black people in America and most

people period in America or even in the

world because there's other people

watching us, we probably know two films

that have like black people in it in in

Brazil. City of God and Black Orpheus

yeah I think those are the main two

films that most people have probably

seen yeah. Outside of that and I've been

watching a lot of black just a lot of

film in Brazil I'm not really seeing a

lot of black people in film in Brazil.

I've actually I've come to learn in the

last couple years that the film industry

is actually supported by the government.

So explain to me how Brazil can can be

more than 50% black but the

representation of black people in film

in front and behind the camera is not

there. I mean what do you think is if it

what do you think about the diversity. Oh

yeah problematic because yeah this is it.

And I like the fact that see you started

talking about the the two most iconic

Brazilian films. Actually they're

probably the most iconic films period. I'm

not even calling them black films

they're iconic films. It doesn't

matter if you like or

you don't like the films but the fact is

these are the two most iconic Brazilian

films ever

and they both of them have a huge black

representation in front of the camera.

And what does it mean? If you go outside

Brazil people we will talk about these

films and then people we will think that

Brazil -

lots of black people, mixed-race people and so

on. Nobody thinks about Brazil as being a

white country. You know like oh hey look

at blond people Brazil. No.

no no no. So what does it mean? It mean it means that films cinema

It's a very important thing for country

because when you when you make a film

you are showing your country you show

your culture. You show how

people used to be you show you know all

the other things regarding a culture. So

you can know a little bit of a culture

seeing films. The vast majority of all the

films produced in the last years with

public money are being are being

represented by white people. In front and behind.

It's a kind of

white supremacy in cinema and audiovisual.

Really. A 2014 study called the Face

of Brazilian cinema showed its extreme

lack of diversity. The study analyzed the

demographics of 218 Brazilian films that

were released commercially between 2002

and 2012.

First of all let's not forget that more

than 50% of Brazil is black and mixed

race. This study found that 80% of the

leading roles went to white actors and

white actresses and only 4% went to

black actresses. Black screenwriters made

up only 4% of the 412 screenwriters

.There were no black woman the diversity

of the 226 film directors was even worse.

84% of the directors were white men. 13%

were white woman and just 2% were black-

all men there were no black woman

directors. This shows that in Brazil the

diversity in front and behind the camera

is appalling. And black women are

underrepresented the most. All the taxes

we pay

in this country go somehow to the film

funds so the producers have that their

project selected and they receive money

from these funds, tax money you know

from the majority of people I mean from

black people. So we are we are paying for

films that don't represent and don't

represent us. In the last couple of years

what have you done to convince like the

Brazilian filmmaker

It's called Ancine. Agencía Nacional Cinema.

So this is the national organization

that basically supports, funds films in

Brazil. What what have you done in

other people to convince them like hey

you need to find more diverse films.

What did you what did you guys do

because you guys actually succeeded. What

did you do? Yeah I mean I mean not

not only me oh yeah everybody and we

were I mean as I am a filmmaker and as I

am space in the media to talk about my

films and myself and blah blah blah. I always

used this opportunity to talk about this

to the above the fact that we are not

represented on films on media in general.

And and to talk about this we are

talking about I mean we are paying for

to have a white supremacist audiovisual

With the data hand you guys

can basically demand what you wanted. You

wanted it more representation. Yeah, yeah it

changed when we have the data.

Yes of the black

people who are directing films that

include black people I have a feeling

that is a majority black women.

Am I wrong that of the

black people who have embraced filmaking

making, its majority black woman or am I

just. No. I just feel like it's mainly

black woman. There is a new wave now

since like 2015. No since the

last 8 years many black girls are

coming and studying films and making films

But all of us make only short films

or medium length films. You know. We don't

have yet the chance to direct a

feature film that go to the theaters. You

know. This is the difference because when

you when you make a feature film and

when your film is being screened at the

theaters, it's another level. And we are

talking about this level. How long do you

think it's gonna take before we see a

lot more black people making films in

Brazil. Like how long is this gonna be?

Feature films? Yes feature films. Aah

Feature films. Feature films. We

have some few black male directors okay

like Jefferson De like Joel Zoelzito Arãujo

for example. They have

they have been making a feature film

feature films. But we have only one black

woman until nowadays who had a feature

film on the theaters like over there

40 years ago. It was Adélia Sampaio and

afterwards we didn't have yet. Now we are

going in this direction I I hope that my

film will be finished next year. I hope

the films of the other girls will be

finished next year because I know I'm

not the only one who has a feature film

project. I mean the other black females

female filmmakers are working on it too.

So I think it to be this situation will

change very soon very soon.

Heidi Murphy, MD Neonatology - MUSC Children's Health - Duration: 1:51.

As a physician here at MUSC, it's really important to me

that we're providing the best, highest

level of evidence-based care.

So we're using the literature, and we're

using what we're learning in research,

and applying it to our patient care every day.

But also, just as importantly, that we're including

our families in decisions.

Having a baby in the NICU, or the neonatal ICU,

is a nerve-racking experience for families.

And I think many people are intimidated by that,

and don't ask as many questions as perhaps they

would like to during their encounters with the doctors.

And I think it's really important

that we take the time to make sure they know

exactly what we're doing for their baby, what we're

concerned about, and what our plans are each day.

I was trained as a pediatrician, and now I've

completed training to just take care

of babies in the neonatal ICU.

I'm a neonatologist.

I take care of babies that are full-term,

that perhaps have some sort of medical problem or illness.

And I also take care of babies that come prematurely.

Within neonatology, I have some special interests.

I'm most interested in taking care

of our very sickest patients.

So we use a technology called extracorporeal life support,

or ECMO, to really help those sickest babies survive

and go on to thrive and live healthy lives.

And I'm interested very much in that technology

and providing that here at MUSC.

MUSC is the largest center here in South Carolina

for the treatment of babies that require neonatal care.

And here I have every subspecialty available to help

care for babies.

It's also a wonderful environment.

We're expanding.

We're growing.

We're doing research on all sorts of different levels,

and I think it's a great place to bring your child for care.
