"Amen, Amen.
"Then they bowed down and prostrated themselves

"Ezra read plainly from the book of the law of God,

"though many, are one body, so also Christ.
"For in one spirit we were all baptized into one body,
"whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
"and we were all given to drink of one spirit.
"Now the body is not a single part, but many.
"If a foot should say,
"Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,
"it does not, for this reason, belong any less to the body.
"Or if an ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,

"If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be?
"If the whole body were hearing,

"If they were all one part, where would the body be?

"Nor again, the head to the feet, I do not need you.
"Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker

"that we consider less honorable,
"we surround with greater honor.

"If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it.
"If one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.

The Gospel of the Lord.
- [All] Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
- Jesus reveals Himself in sacred scripture,
and as a faithful Jew, He went to the synagogue
according to the custom, and as a faithful Jew,
He wanted everybody to know, indeed,
of His relationship with God,
and He wants the people to know, too,
that God wants to be one with His people,
and in sending Jesus in the flesh,
to have that connection of the invisible with the visible.
Saint Paul calls Jesus, "He is the image of the invisible."
So something that people can relate to,
someone people can relate to.
And as we look to Paul's reading today,
we see here that, you know, he talks about all of us
gathered together, that we are the body of Christ.
And when we think about that, you know,
and the implications of that,
it's really very, very phenomenal.
When we think of Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem,
and Jesus who died on the Cross on Calvary,
and Jesus who gave Himself to us in the Holy Eucharist,
every time we come to celebrate Mass,
that that is God present, real.
We call it the real presence, His body, His blood,
His soul and divinity,
shared with us so that we can do something with that.
But by our incorporation into the body of Christ,
we hear how Saint Paul keeps on calling us,
that we are the body of Christ.
You know, and he goes into
that lengthy description about the body.
The body is made of many members,
and I invite you to go back and to read
that 12th chapter of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians,
because it's almost humorous, in the way, you know,
as he's reading, I'm trying to picture.
If the body were all eye, how could we taste, you know?
I mean, imagine us, just one eyeball walking around, right?
He has a pretty good sense of humor,
but he shows the connectedness.
And when we look at the human body and the many parts
that are part of the body, that it's all connected into one.
And so we, too, we are individual members connected
into one, into the body of Christ.
And so when we come to the celebration of Eucharist,
it's God who invites us to come and be united with Him.
So God is the Host, right?
He's the Host of our celebration.
But if we are the body of Christ,
then Christ is also the guest.
Think about it.
The Lord calls us here, He's the Host,
but He calls us together as the body of Christ,
where we are the guest,
that Christ is actually the guest as well, through us.
And when I tell Eucharistic ministers as we're training them
for their ministry, I said,
"When you are ministering the body of Christ,
"you are the body of Christ
"ministering the body of Christ to the body of Christ."
We're all connected.
Let us never forget that connection, because that connection
is God's gift to us, and then, let us remember,
that how we are connected with God,
how we must be connected with one another,
united in our faith, united in how we worship together,
our common worship, you know,
so that we don't set ourselves apart,
that we are together the body of Christ, united as one,
because that's how God designed it.
May we then continue then to recognize how God works in us,
and how God works through us,
because we are the body of Christ.
Amen.
We now profess our faith using the Apostles' Creed.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day, He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into Heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the God,
the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting, Amen.
