How junk science convicted an innocent man - Duration: 11:10.

It was 1985 and Robert Lee Stinson was on trial for the murder of his neighbor.

"She was the 63-year old widow found dead near the corner of 7th and Center streets.

The crucial evidence in this case is bite marks found on the body of the victim."

Two forensic dentists said the bite marks matched Stinson's teeth, but there were

some puzzling discrepancies.

They claimed Stinson's broken tooth made this mark even though there was no mark for

the adjacent, full-size tooth.

And when they were called to testify in court, nobody asked them about that.

"The bites had to have been inflicted by dentition identical to Mr. Stinson's."

Stinson's trial was a test of whether our criminal justice system

was capable of detecting unreliable forensic science.

And with the future and freedom of a young man on the line,

the result was an absolute, system-wide failure.

The US has an adversarial judicial system where the judge presides over a trial but isn't

responsible for uncovering the truth.

Instead, it's up to the opposing lawyers to present evidence and witnesses that support their

version of events.

"Ultimately the theory is of course that through this conflict of ideas and interpretations the

truth will emerge."

But from the start, Stinson could tell he wasn't entering a fair fight.

He prepared a letter asking for a replacement for his lawyer, who "only took his case

two weeks" before trial.

"Your Honor, I'm facing life for something I did not commit," he wrote.

The judge denied his request, which came in the middle of the trial,

and she also denied his lawyer's motion to exclude the bitemark evidence.

She said "there are adequate standards and controls in the area of forensic odontology."

"It is a recognized area of science."

"Frankly at the time it was not a close decision for me.

Even though it was unique testimony, I didn't have anything in front of me that indicated

that it was not reliable and it certainly was helpful to the jury, I think, and relevant

to the issues and so I admitted the evidence."

At the time, Wisconsin only required that forensic testimony be relevant and helpful

to the jury.

Judges weren't required to assess its reliability.

"You have an older woman who's been raped and murdered and we've got an expert who's

saying we know who did it.

If the judge excluded that evidence he would gone free.

And it would have been a legal stretch for her to do that given the state of the law

and the precedent at the time."

As the appeals court would point out in a footnote, by the time of Stinson's trial,

bitemark evidence had been accepted in 19 jurisdictions and rejected by none.

The court in Stinson's case was no different, and the bitemark evidence went before the jury.

The first thing that happens when forensic experts take the stand is that they're prompted

to list their credentials, to show that they're qualified.

"That makes sense from a certain perspective.

But there's also a danger that the jury misunderstands the power of that experience."

"Dr. Johnson seemed to make sense to me when he testified.

He certainly was qualified,

being a professor at the university in the dental school."

"Here you have this very learned

dentist who has no reason to lie who comes in and tells you this is rock solid science.

How is the jury to decide he must be wrong?

That's extremely compelling."

Dr. L.T. Johnson walked the jury through the evidence.

He even brought models of Stinson's lower teeth and one of the bite marks

so he could show how they matched.

He concluded his testimony by saying the bite marks

"would have to have been made by Robert Lee Stinson.

The second dentist, Raymond Rawson, testified that

"there was no question that there was a match to a reasonable scientific certainty."

Stinson's lawyer did try to get a defense expert of his own, but that expert was never

called to counter the prosecution's dentists in court,

because after he examined the evidence,

he agreed with them.

Instead of two sides battling it out before the jury, there was one side with two experts

making false statements about the science, and one side with no experts at all.

During Stinson's trial, the prosecution and defense would ask the two bitemark experts

a combined 240 questions.

But they didn't ask the most important one.

"The real question that we should be asking is what is the evidence that shows us that

people in this field reach accurate results?

It's not rocket science."

Forensic scientists can have protocols and guidelines, use well-accepted tools and technology, but

we won't know if their methods are actually reliable until we have what's called an

"error rate study."

You take a bunch of bite mark examiners, give them samples of bite marks and then measure

how often they make a correct identification.

To this day, nobody has ever conducted a proper error rate study for bite mark analysis.

"And there's really no incentive to do any research, because courts admit it.

If courts stopped admitting it they would do the research, right, because they want it

to be introduced at trial."

Studies that have been done with human cadavers show that there's a lot of distortion when

bite marks are made in skin, even in a laboratory setting.

The same set of teeth will make marks of different sizes and shapes depending on the skin type,

the amount of force, and the orientation of the bite.

Missing teeth can look like they're there.

Teeth that are there can look like they're missing.

One study conducted by forensic dentists found an unsatisfactory level of agreement among

examiners on whether a given injury was even a human bitemark.

But during Stinson's trial, Dr. Johnson told the jury that there was "no margin for error"

in this case.

And then Stinson took the stand.

He said he was at a party until about 12:30.

Went home, and then later went back out, to go to the store with a friend.

He said as they walked behind his house, he heard footsteps and shushing coming from the

back of the alley.

But when Stinson first spoke to the police three days after the murder, he had only told

them he went home after the party and went to bed.

As the prosecutor pointed out at the trial, he had changed his story.

"It's my experience that the jury looks a lot at those alibis and if somebody is lying

for no other reason then perhaps trying to get out of something, that is pretty heavy evidence."

After a three-day trial, and less than two hours of deliberation, the jury found Stinson

guilty of first degree murder.

And he was sentenced to life in prison.

On appeal, Stinson challenged the admissibility of the expert testimony in his trial.

But the Wisconsin Court of Appeals affirmed his conviction.

They were impressed by the dentist's elaborate methods.

"Doctor Johnson used an ' Acrylic ring.'

'Special camera.'

'Three dimensional indentations.'

'Overlay technique.'

'75 individual tooth marks.'

They actually claimed

"the reliability of the bite mark evidence in this case was sufficient to exclude to a moral certainty

every reasonable hypothesis of innocence."

"It's so absurd.

Tarot card readers have a very complex ancient methodology.

It doesn't mean that they can tell your fortune."

And with that ruling, Stinson became the precedent-setting

for bite mark evidence in Wisconsin.

Seven years later, the US Supreme Court issued a decision -- the Daubert ruling -- which

should have changed the entire landscape for forensic science.

It said that trial judges must assess whether expert testimony is based on reasoning or

methodology that is "scientifically valid."

Daubert talks about reliability, validity, empirical data, error rates, peer review.

It has all the good stuff and scientists would look at it and feel their hearts would patter,

they'd be cheered, because it says all the right words.

But the problem with that is it also says it's a flexible standard.

The Daubert ruling gave judges a new "gatekeeping role," but at the same time, it said that

"vigorous cross-examination and presentation of contrary evidence" is still an "appropriate

means of attacking shaky but admissible evidence."

So even though judges are supposed to evaluate expert testimony, they can still choose to

offload that responsibility.

"They don't want to be responsible for letting the killer go free because they excluded the evidence."

After all, the system has always relied on the attorneys to cross-examine witnesses they

disagree with and present contrary evidence.

"Public defenders are by and large overwhelmed and often don't have the funding to hire their

own independent experts.

I mean but they shouldn't have to.

We shouldn't have to be defending against unreliable scientific evidence."

And ultimately, it's up to the jury to decide what they believe.

"I mean the instructions are very clear that the jury does not have to give any further

weight to an expert than any other witness.

What kind of weight they want to give to them is totally up to them."

But the jury doesn't have basic information about the error rates of forensic methods

like bite mark analysis.

Those studies don't exist — in part because judges have never required them.

"I don't think there is evil intent anywhere in this circle.

It's a collection of institutional participants sometimes taking the easy way out."

"Nothing is suitable in our existing system for making the scientific determination

that this evidence is questionable.

And here's what juries and judges ought to know about it.

It's not happening."

As Robert Lee Stinson began his life sentence, the evidence in the case was boxed up and

locked away.

That included the blue pullover shirt the victim was wearing when she was killed.

It was a crucial piece of evidence, but nobody knew that yet.

And it would be 24 years before the true killer was found.

WHY WWE Stars Are QUITTING! ANOTHER WWE Star LEAVING! | WrestleTalk News Jan. 2019 - Duration: 3:56.

Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News - I'm Oli Davis.

Support WrestleTalk!

Leave A Comment Below!

And our question for you today is: Which wrestler do you think will quit WWE next?

Let me know in the comments down below, because I'll be replying to people FROM OUTTA NOWHERE.

Because, at the time of recording, at least six WWE stars have reportedly asked for their

release.

By the time your watching this, they'll probably only have five people left on the

roster.

And Dolph Ziggler will still likely be one of them - just leave, man.

Dean Ambrose Release Confirmed Following news that Scott Dawson and Dash

Wilder of The Revival and Mike and Maria Kanellis asked for their releases - although Maria

denies the latter - Pro Wrestling Torch broke yesterday that Dean Ambrose told management

he wouldn't be renewing his contract when it expires in April.

This was reportedly because he'd "been long frustrated with the creative direction

of his character and reached a breaking point recently" - which is thought to be because

of the hokey way his character has been portrayed.

PWInsider has since added a few details, reporting Dean "was offered a new, five year contract

worth a little over seven figures per year, but turned the deal down."

As he doesn't live an expensive lifestyle outside of the company, and "has made great

money over his WWE run" he appears to be in a similar position to CM Punk where money

isn't so much of an issue and he can "do what he wants".

WrestleVotes claim it wasn't just a new million dollar contract Ambrose turned down,

as he was apparently meant to be involved in a "big" story heading into WrestleMania,

but those plans were dropped over Royal Rumble weekend when he said he'd be leaving the

company.

And WWE have now confirmed the story themselves, taking the unprecedented step of announcing

Ambrose is not renewing his deal on their website:

"Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires

in April.

We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans.

We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE."

Did Ambrose just future endeavor Vince McMahon?

And he's not the only one.

Hideo Itami Asks For WWE Release As both Fightful and PWInsider are reporting

205 Live star Hideo Itami has also asked for his release!

Unlike The Revival and the Kannelisi, however, it appears WWE have approved Itami's request,

and he finished up with the promotion losing to Akira Tozawa on last night's 205 Live.

He will now enter a 90 day no compete clause, so don't expect to see him show up anywhere

soon.

Fightful claim he asked for his release because he was "unsatisfied creatively", which

is pretty much the same reasons reported for Ambrose, The Kannelisi and The Revival.

Further confirming the news, Itami has changed his Twitter handle to 'KENTA' - the name

he used before joining WWE - and has tweeted the simple message THANK YOU late Tuesday

night, to which a number of WWE stars seemingly wished him goodbye to in reply.

Itami asking for his release because he's unhappy with his place in WWE is an immensely

brave decision, and he deserves credit for standing up for his creative vision...

WrestleLeague Punishment Results ...but it's nowhere near as brave as me

and Luke covering a wrestler's entrance theme this weekend.

Because we came joint last in our Fantasy Prediction WrestleLeague at Royal Rumble,

our Patreons have fittingly voted for us to cover Mike and Maria Kannelis' entrance

music The Greatest Love I've Ever Known.

Expect air guitar.

Evernote's 2019 Priorites: CEO statement - Duration: 7:14.

So today's video we'll explore the recent statement from Evernote CEO

This is going to give you a brief outline or what evident

We'll be working on over the next couple of months and I'll share my thoughts throughout this

So last week the Evernote CEO in small posted on their blog all about his priorities for Evernote over the next couple of months

Now I picked out a few key statements that I write to share with you guys

So Ian mentions I have spent the last two months learning about Evernote both from the inside

Out and the outside in and another panelist Eamonn also says and becoming really clear on Eva's own strengths and weaknesses

I've also been reviewing the company's financial health

Which I'm pleased to report is extremely sound from the outside in I've spent time listening to you our customers

Partners and community the people who know Evernote best and I've spent time looking at the overall competitive landscape

Understanding the category they're ever know created has continued to grow and is now shaped by many companies

But inventing the future requires being able to stand on a solid foundation now just a note

These are a few clippings from the piece. So it's not the full piece. I do recommend reading the full piece first things first

I do like the way that you started this it's really respectful

It does understand that there are flaws with Evernote and they definitely intend on changing them and I hundred percent agree

they need to work on the foundations and it's something that is definitely confident on doing so let's dive into the next little bit and

Honestly requires us to state straight out that we can do better with the product you have

Today that we are currently doing. In fact, we can do better than we have been doing for some years frankly

It's a bit disingenuous

for me to try and get most

Dedicated users all fired up about inventing the future of Evernote

When exactly those same people are the ones who know best that sync doesn't always work right or that Evernote on Windows is a bit

Tired and it is missing features that are found on the Mac version or that each version of Evernote seems to be work slightly

Different and exhibits its own unique collection of bugs and undesirable behaviors or that Evernote on mobile

Sometimes feels like a head down version of the powered desk

powerful desktop app instead of the mobile first view into a powerful cloud enable productivity environment because ultimately

by choosing to use Evernote each of you gives us the privilege of serving you of

Trying to make your life more focused more organized and more productive in return

It's our responsibility in an untreated to serve you well now actually when I read this

Actually felt that Evernote finally got it

they finally understood that they haven't quite hit a nail on the head and these I

particularly, like the ins highlighted some of the key features that have been annoying people because actually shows that he's aware of them because

sometimes when you know, for example the fact that there are so many features sort of off with Evernote is

Not good and actually highlighting them not just saying all of our bugs, you know, this is something that actually is

resonates with me especially

Over the years I've been with Evan. Ooh, so now moving slightly onto the goals area

Ian highlights a few goals and he says our goals are simple, but meaningful number one

We're going to create a more coherent more consistent Evernote experience for every version of the product. We ship an

experience that fixes the essential features on which all of us depend

number two

We're going to make a fundamental changes to how we develop and deliver

Software so that we can start to ship faster across all devices we support and that all of us can experience the same Evernote

regardless regardless

regardless of which device we use to experience it and number three and we're going to make

Improvements to the core infrastructure that sits behind the application you experience so that we can deliver an Evernote with speed

Reliability and scalability that all of us expect you also finally mentions despite this risk

I'm convinced that focusing on the basics is what we need to do first in order to best serve you not just now but

Years into the future now

One thing I want to say here is looking at the goal side of stuff number one

I think that that goal is or two awards

reconfiguring the plans

For example what's included in them what features are included in them and how they intend to monetize in the future?

I didn't think we're definitely going to see a change in the Evernote basic in the next couple of months and

How it is perceived by everyday users number two

The goal - I think focuses on launching across the board so actually shipping the same experience on all devices

So for example Evernote Mac isn't a look like Evernote

It is gonna look like Evernote for iPhone or Evernote for Android

It's all going to be consistent

which I definitely think is needed and

Finally the third thing that I think he focuses on is the bug security issues and the reliability of the service

I think people really want Evernote to be that reliable consistent experience

It has been in the past but in the last couple years not so much. I really struggled to open up my iPhone

There's always crashes bunks and it just really horrible experience to use

So the really good news is if you're an Evernote user

Ever new have become aware of all of their problems and when I actually chat with ian small

He honestly did have

He was all ears open and he's definitely wanted

everyone to be happy in terms of

Starting small and building out because I don't think is the sort of person that Russian and a new feature

I think he's someone that will change from the bottom upwards

So Evernote must work on their foundations first, and it's something that I definitely think they are working on hard

So it's going to be exciting 2019 for Evernote

Either way Evernote have put out this challenge that I didn't want to mention. That was at the bottom that blog post

It's good ever better challenge. I think it's a great little initiative if you're looking for a 30-day

Challenge for setting a goal in 2019. I can't recommend it enough

They've got a brilliant explaining video on it with Forrest the guy who runs their podcast

And it's definitely recommended to go and check it out

Also, I'm going to be putting or I probably already have put out a video on notions Web Clipper. I probably really stood today

It's well worth looking at it and we did a video on this to overview it

Anyway, if you're brand new here do subscribe for more Evernote related news if like this video

You're a regular we're a welcome back

Do hit the like vid like button if you enjoyed this video today and do please honestly, I love read in the comments

I'm being that active in them recently, but just pop what you think Evernote is gonna be working on and whether you think this statement

Restores your trust in Evernote or you know, I mean like restores your trust in their ability to develop the product

Honestly, you'll be great to hear so guys

Thanks very much, and make sure if a great week keep it up as if I'll see you guys

Pretty very soon. Alright, Cheers

Why the Trans Military Ban Should Matter to Everyone - Duration: 10:28.

Last week the Supreme Court of the United States allowed Donald Trump's ban on transgender

people serving in the military to take effect while its legality is decided in lower courts.

Now, as it happens I know trans people in the U.S. military who stand to be affected

by this.

I also know trans veterans who would have been affected by this, only they aren't

in the military any longer.

I'm sure the same is true for some of you – you know trans people who are or were

in the military who will be affected by the ban, or who at least feel very close to it.

Some of you, I'm quite certain, are even closer to it than that because you are a trans

person who is currently serving in the military, or who previously served, or who thought they

might want to join at some point in the future.

But even if you aren't a trans person who's serving or has previously served in the military,

or a cis person who knows trans people who are serving or have served, even if you don't

have any trans people you personally know or care about (to your knowledge), even if

you've never had anything to do with the American military, and even if you have no

particular interest in civil rights or social justice issues, this ban on trans people serving

in the armed forces should bother the hell out of you.

Why?

I will try to explain.

The first thing I'd like to propose is that along with everything else it is, serving

in the military is a job.

We Americans have an unfortunate tendency to sanctify the military and look upon people

who join the military as heroes following a noble calling, but the truth is in many

cases people who enlist in the military do so because it's the best career opportunity

available to them.

Service in the military allows you to learn new skills that will potentially be very useful

to you once you return to civilian life.

Service in the military makes it easier to pay for college.

Service in the military enables you to travel to places you might never have seen otherwise.

If you were born to a family living on a low-income, enlisting in the military can improve your

prospects of pursuing a post-high-school education, getting a well paying job, and seeing the

world in ways almost nothing else can.

People enlist for more than just economic reasons – according to a study by the Council

on Foreign Relations released last year, most recruits are from middle class neighborhoods

– but even so, if you are a person from a poor neighborhood who wants to improve your

economic situation, the military is a better bet than most.

Now, thanks to the Trump administration, it's a bet that trans people may no longer be able

to make.

Put more simply, it's a job – and from a certain point of view, a pretty good job

– trans people may no longer be able to get.

And the reason that should matter to you, no matter who you are, is that there is no

just or practical reason for it.

And if one group of people can be legally discriminated against for no good reason,

so can any other group, maybe even a group you're a member of.

Also, there's this thing called empathy.

Allowing trans people to serve openly – which prior to the ban they've been able to do

for a few years now – hasn't harmed the military.

And there's no reason why anyone should have expected it to.

Sure, there are aspects of a trans person's life that cis people will probably never experience,

but nothing, generally speaking, that prevents a trans person from serving just as effectively

as a cis person.

We can say this with confidence because there are currently thousands of trans Americans

serving in the military on active duty, and thousands more who serve in the reserve or

guard forces.

And while it is only recently that trans people have been able to serve openly, they, like

gays and lesbians, have been a part of the ranks since long before they were officially

acknowledged and welcomed.

A 2014 survey by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law estimated that over 20%

of the transgender population in the United States has served in the military at some

point.

If that seems high, it is – the same survey estimated that just over 10% of the total

adult population in the U.S. has served in the military.

So a trans American is over twice as likely to have served in the military as an average

American.

But that's not the best reason to believe that allowing trans people to serve hasn't

harmed the military.

The best reason, as I see it, is that the military itself came to the exact same conclusion.

In 2016 the Department of Defense commissioned a study from the RAND Corporation, a think

tank that does research for the armed forces.

The study examined the potential impact of allowing trans people to serve openly in the

military and concluded that the impact of paying for transition-related health care

would be negligible, and found no evidence to suggest that allowing trans people to serve

openly would have a negative impact on "the operational effectiveness, operational readiness,

or cohesion of the force."

The RAND report was published in May 2016.

In June, the Secretary of Defense ended the ban on transgender service members, effective

immediately.

When President Trump reinstated the ban just over a year later, he declared (in a tweet,

naturally) that the military "cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs

and disruption" associated with trans people serving openly, but cited no evidence whatsoever

to back up his opinion.

History and empirical study suggest that there is no legitimate reason to keep trans people

from openly serving in the military.

Their unique health care needs are not a burden to the system, their presence does not reduce

effectiveness or cohesion, and there is nothing about being trans that renders a person automatically

less fit to be a member of the armed forces.

The main argument used by those in favor of the trans military ban to justify their position

is not only unsupported by history or facts, it's also not unique to the question of

trans service.

"Allowing trans people to serve openly will reduce military effectiveness and unit cohesion,"

President Trump and other supporters of the ban now say.

In the 1940s, those in favor of continuing racial segregation in the American military

made the same argument.

"Allowing Black troops to serve in the same units with white troops will reduce effectiveness

and unit cohesion."

They were wrong.

In the 1990s, those in favor of maintaining the ban on gay people serving in the military

said that allowing gays and lesbians to serve would reduce effectiveness and unit cohesion."

They were wrong.

Throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, the same thing was said about allowing women to

serve in combat roles.

They were wrong, too.

"The goal of the military is to protect our country, not a huge social experiment."

That's a quote from Neil Parrott, my district's representative in the Maryland House of Delegates.

Parott is a small-minded, proudly bigoted man.

I'm embarrassed to be represented by him.

I find him contemptible.

He's also not terribly creative.

He's merely regurgitating an argument people like him have been making against any and

all attempts to address social inequality and injustice in the military: the armed forces

are not the place for social experimentation.

The existence of trans people is not a social experiment.

It is a reality.

It has been a reality for as long as human beings have existed.

Trans people are a normal and natural part of the population.

Being trans is simply one of many possible ways of being human.

And most challenges faced by trans people are not the inevitable result of their being

trans, but are caused by how they are misjudged and mistreated by society.

There are about 1.4 million trans people living in the United States.

They're entitled to the same rights and opportunities as cis people.

That includes serving in the military, something that approximately 20% of trans Americans

have already done despite the fact that they've only been able to do so openly since 2016.

I mentioned at the beginning of this video that we Americans have a habit of being overly

reverent toward military veterans.

That's a bad thing because those feelings are easy to exploit – politicians can persuade

us to support this or that candidate or policy if they can convince us that it's what's

best for the troops.

But I'm not suggesting we shouldn't respect the troops at all.

They deserve everything they've been promised and a little more.

They deserve fair wages.

They deserve health care.

They deserve an education.

Of course, I think everyone else deserves those things, too, but that's beside the

point.

Those who have served honorably in the armed forces deserve our respect.

They deserve to be treated fairly and justly.

That goes for all of them, including those who are trans.

If you claim to support the people of the American military but you don't support

the trans Americans who serve, have served, or might serve one day, then what you're

really saying is that your support only extends so far as your prejudice will allow it to.

And that's pathetic.

Shame on you.

If you believe in honoring veterans, then stand up now and join those of us who believe

in honoring all veterans who served honorably, and all those who are currently serving with

honor in the United States military, regardless of their gender identity.

Write a blog article, make a video, write a letter to the editor of your local paper,

contact your member of Congress and your senators – use your voice and let people know you

oppose the trans military ban and you believe military service and the opportunities it

affords should be open trans people.

Don't let the bigotry and ignorance of a few erase the contributions and deny the humanity

of trans members of the military or of any trans people.

Hello! As you know, in our market not so long ago the Chinese

it is often unpretentious inconspicuous state employees who satisfy

times more interesting. Support android tv on the LCD is not an innovation, rather

something familiar to everyone. But what about optimization? Do we have

the ability to play absolutely all applications on a large matrix? And my

Answer - Yes, we can! For example, using a TV from Skyworth.

Today we look at the 32-inch model of the E6 series of this brand. Go to the design.

One of the distinguishing features is thin and neat frame. Lower slightly thicker

What is of interest is impact resistant glass.

The assembly is completed, I would say, well. Nothing bends, does not swing.

This is true for families with small children and animals.

Anyway, if you intend use on a stand, not a fastener on the wall.

But remember, I first touched optimization? It is she who makes

the perfect tandem with a good iron in this price segment.

The fact of the matter is that Skyworth has signed a contract with google, which

develops specifically for her android tv. In this case, we have version 8.0.

In practice, this means not only cool speed but also

the aforementioned application optimization from the same playlist. On this TV pour

Messerbau Folge 44 - Nussbaum stabilisieren (Teil 2) - Duration: 14:57.

Welcome to the 44th episode of my knife making channel.

In the last episode I stabilized walnut.

I have a 2-component casting resin for it is used.

I had already suspected at the time that I had the wood in the vacuum not long enough.

There was still too much air in the wood, that it couldn't suck itself completely with resin,

as we shall see in a moment.

Here I take the container with the resin and the wood from the chamber.

Although the label shows a shorter processing time is standing,

the resin is still liquid after 12 hours.

So I could have used the vacuum much longer than 60 minutes.

This is what the piece looks like after it has been dyed in pink resin.

I compare the weight with a second sample,

that I haven't stabilized yet.

Before it had weighed 13 g, now it weighs 22 g.

Resinpal 1717 hardens within a few days,

or you put it in the oven for a few hours at 50 degrees.

I put the bowl in there so you could I can be sure,

that also the resin in the wood is hardened.

The resin in the measuring cup has become much firmer,

but not yet cured.

The resin in the shell is cured.

I'm gonna saw the piece to make sure.

Then I'll be curious to see how the specimen will look from the inside.

I'll saw it open diagonally for that.

As feared, the venting phase was too short.

Because not all the air out of the wood was removed,

it couldn't completely soak up the resin afterwards.

It's easy to see with the naked eye.

It becomes even clearer when you use linseed oil on the wood.

The linseed oil is immediately absorbed in the middle, where no resin has gone.

In the outer layers the wood is stabilised and the linseed oil absorbs worse.

These areas remain wet.

I'm convinced that the next time will be more successful,

if I start the vacuum at the beginning for 4 hours (instead of 60 minutes).

I just have to have so much patience and wait and see,

until no more air bubbles rise from the wood.

I'm going to try a 1-component resin.

There are various alternatives here as well.

I had already tried Skresin 1500, but was not enthusiastic because of the terrible smell.

So I'm all the more excited about Stabi 17 B.

Here the resin is indeed also present in solvents and hardens,

when they've evaporated, but it doesn't stink that bad.

As in the last episode. suck the air out of the wood first,

before I dump the resin.

I use again my construction from Fischer Technik with the magnets and the thread,

who's gonna pour out the measuring cup.

The second specimen is placed in a bowl and fixed with a screw and a rubber band,

so it can't float up.

Then I fill in enough Stabi fluid.

As in the last episode everything in the vacuum chamber.

The liquid should only be dumped when most of the air has already escaped from the wood,

so it doesn't foam up too much.

Then we're ready to go.

The lid is closed.

And the pump can create a vacuum inside.

Air escapes from the Stabi liquid, that had gotten in there when I spill it.

I'll wait 90 minutes and pour the liquid now in the bowl with the piece of wood,

by moving the magnet down.

This causes the thread to pull at the bottom of the measuring cup.

The liquid is dumped.

Even after 90 minutes it still foams strongly because air still escapes from the wood.

Proof that the first time you try the vacuum phase was too short.

Even after three hours, bubbles still rise.

It takes four hours for that to become less.

I decide to put the vacuum in of the chamber now.

In wood, however, there is still the same vacuum,

so now it's soaking up the surrounding fluid.

It's actually the pressure of our atmosphere, that presses the liquid into the wood.

I'll put the bowl in a bag, so it'll be in my workshop doesn't stink of solvents.

I also have the impression that headaches to get away with it.

I'm running the process for 12 hours now and then take the wood out of the liquid.

As I had expected, the second piece is a little heavier than the first.

Cause I'm assuming it's gonna this time completely soaked.

The liquid can be reused, if you don't let the solvents evaporate.

Either you fill them in the original packaging or store them in a glass with a screw cap.

The next day, you can see that the sample is already dry on the outside.

Since solvents are still evaporating the process is not accelerated by heat,

except in the sun or on the radiator.

There is indeed a risk of explosion in an oven, because the fumes are very flammable.

So now you have to wait up to 4 weeks.

I put the wood on a radiator, because, of course, I don't have that much patience.

Five days later, I'd like to see the specimen I'm going to saw it open,

because I'm curious to see what it looks like inside.

And in fact, it's even this time stabilized.

I'm doing the linseed oil test again,

which is poorly absorbed evenly by the wood and still shines over the entire surface.

Nevertheless the wood does not make the impression to contain quite as much resin.

It's not as hard as Resinpal 1717, either.

Actually, that's clear, because the fluid apparently insists on a whole lot of solvent,

which evaporate and produce a smaller amount of leave resin in the wood,

than the 2-component resin,

where nothing evaporates, but completely cures.

In my conclusion, I would like to compare the resins, that I had already used to stabilize.

That's three products from left to right.

The first is the resin, which I use to produce of my mosaic pins, Epox 200G.

Beside the Resinpal 1717 and finally the Stabi 17 B.

I'll briefly summarize what happened in stabilizing actually happened.

There are only two phases.

In the first one, a vacuum is built up and for so long,

until no more air bubbles rise from the wood.

In the second phase, the normal air pressure of our atmosphere presses the resin into the wood.

This results in some requirements for me to the resin.

First of all it must have a long processing time, so it doesn't cure prematurely.

Secondly, the curing time must not be too long.

At least I don't want to wait weeks, until my wood is ready.

Third, the resin must be thin, so it can even be pressed into the wood.

Fourth, in my opinion, the product should be harmless and, of course, non-toxic.

When I look at my first criterion,

then a long processing time for the Epox 200G is not fulfilled.

But it is even fulfilled for Resinpal 1717, even though it wasn't on the label.

The second criterion, short curing time, can be met by heat for the two 2-component resins.

With Stabi 17 B you have to be patient for up to 4 weeks.

The third criterion, that the resin should be as should be thin,

is only fulfilled with Resinpal 1717 and Stabi 17 B, the Epox 200 G is rather to be described as viscous.

The fourth criterion, safe and non-toxic, is not fulfilled by Stabi 17 B.

It is also not allowed to use a vacuum chamber with a plexiglass lid,

because it's attacked by the solvents.

On the picture on the left you can see how the Plaxiglas dissolves superficially.

That the fumes stink and are flammable, I had already mentioned.

The second criterion, that the curing time must not be long,

was important for me personally, but since with a little planning you can also master four weeks of patience,

I will not include this point in the evaluation.

Therefore the following ranking results:

On third place, unfortunately not suitable, comes the Epox 200G.

On second place comes the Stabi 17 B, which conditionally is suitable.

You have to have a glass vacuum chamber and patience for the curing time.

Therefore Resinpal 1717 comes up for me the first place.

Even though I made a mistake in my attempt

to finish Phase 1 too early, the product seems to work very well.

I have often heard of another product from the USA that has even better properties.

It's called Cactus Juice.

The resin is very thin and cures in the oven without toxic fumes.

It's very expensive, but it can be used many times.

I ordered it and then I will test it the same way later.

I'd be very happy if you'd give me a little thumbs up

or if you write something in the comments.

Thanks for watching, take care and see you next time!

The FIFTY - Ep. 2. Mt. Superior - Duration: 7:49.

Ugh, this is a long boring drive.

Just left Tahoe driving across Nevada heading to Utah for the first couple lines of the

season.

Looking at skiing Mount Superior or the Hypodermic Needle both in Little Cottonwood Canyon, which

line I get to ski pretty much entirely depends on stability.

Right now stability does not look good with a lot more weather on the way.

So I don't know what to expect other than I'm gonna link up fellow Salomon athlete Drew

Peterson, few other friends and locals to the Utah scene and were gonna just takes these

problems as they come.

In the mean time, keep your fingers crossed for us.

Gonna need it.

Ughhh, I didn't foresee this.

Traffic backed up for the entire canyon.

Oh hey guys.

Is it always like this.

"Welcome to Utah".

Yeahhh, Wow!

So I've yet to make this introduction and the first episode was pretty much just me

talking but I wanted to introduce you to a very special person, this person is going

to be doing me this whole trip, Bjarne Salen.

"How's it going Cody?"

"What do you think we're gonna do today?"

Ugh, poke around and dig a pit, keep'er super mellow.

"We just got 40 inches in 48 hours, um so its, on top of a bunch of sugary snow, we

gotta check that out and see how active that is.

The art of the downhill skin.

Oh god.

Oh god.

That's definitely the most extreme thing we're gonna do today.

Think we're about there.

That was full.

Wow yeah.

Oh sheezus that's got energy too.

That's enough to scare the shit outta me.

Like that's, the whole thing goes gigantic and you die.

So yeah, tomorrow is a no go because of what we just did right here this pit explained

to me that there is pretty medium probability of a gigantic high consequence avalanche and

something on a big face like Superior that has the potential to go huge and ugh.

I don't wanna die so so were just gonna go ski in the trees wait till the snowpack heals

and I don't know.

Look at that side on the cliff the thing is spiraling winds.

My binoculars are like 10 dollar binoculars so.

We need a binocular sponsor.

I think in this whole process getting familiar with the lines is very beneficial than just

showing up and going for them, it's the only way to stay safe.

We just pulled into Little Cottonwood Canyon and it is looking primo, they shot it, not

many results, looking around not seeing and natural signs of instability we're still gonna

tenderfoot our way out there but hope is finally high.

Drew had to leave and we got a replacement.

Mr. Pep Fujas.

"I'm just a sub"

If we get to ski this with this vis and this snow, it's gonna be all time, like incredible.

Yeaaahhh buddy.

Holy schnikes!

"Really not much more I can say" Do you wanna ski first or do you wanna ski second?

I don't care either.

Five, four, three, two, one...whoo!

Wooooooo!

Japan on Superior!

Yewww!

Yeaaahhh!

Okay team.

In as good as conditions as possible.

Thanks for coming up Pep, that was awesome.

"2 out of 50, How does that feel?"

2, we're at 2.

Just two people.

"Just hop in the back" Nice.

What's your name?

"Steve" Awesome Steve.Thanks.

What a legend!

Pep how's it going?

Couldn't be happier.

And the conditions, it was by far the best.

All time.

Damn that was a good run.

So I feel really good.

I feel really good.

That was, I mean, beyond just checking it off the list, that was an all time run.

Mental Health Support - Duration: 1:38.

I just feel like many people go through these struggles alone.

And have difficult times reaching out to other people.

So I figure if I offer that information people won't feel as alone.

My name is Gabrielle Kelly and I studied biomedical biology.

I entered right out of high school, in 2011.

Right away in my first year I noticed a huge difference

between high school and university.

I was already struggling with depression and anxiety.

But I never felt it to this degree before.

From there I went to my second year and I failed another class.

And then I ended up choosing to drop out.

In 2014 I came back.

I finally finished my fourth year in 2018.

I had been in an abusive relationship

right from high school.

At that point I moved out at age 17.

And I was really struggling

with my depression and suicidal ideation.

So I received a diagnosis in 2015

after I had made an attempt on my life.

So those combined, were able to give me

a prescription for antidepressants.

I tried a couple of different combinations

because it's not always a one size fits all kind of situation.

And so at that point I was able to

kind of get a better grip on reality

and stay grounded.

And from there I was able to come back to school

and really focus on what I wanted to do.

I'm Kinda back... Kinda, yeah.... (custom subs incl) - Duration: 5:32.

So there there I am

Sitting at my desk thinking about what I could do

You have to realize that it has been a long time since I did create something original

I've been... no I ain't been lazy

definitely not, maybe a bit out of

Flex... see me turning there on my chair

Just waiting like comet would strike me down one day

But no that never happened. It has been almost two months since I really made an original movie

I've been losing a lot of subscribers, but I don't care they didn't like me anyway

So they probably had to leave

You know, strange part is there's

Actually quite a lot of stuff that I could talk about like the fact you might not believe it but everything I'm saying now

It's being improvised.

I just talking to the microphone

I don't write hours on forehand and I do not have takes taken out

Maybe that is why I'm losing so many subscribers? Hmm

I didn't know maybe I could scratch a bit my head, you know turn around a bit. Hmm

Maybe I should just make a movie about thinking to make a movie

no, that is weird right?

It's been a long time since I've made

conspiracy movie

I've talked about Shenmue

Yeah

I know still have to do the best movie into games

There is so much I could talk about could talk about their so-called influence series

Yeah, you you you really have influencers and you have a lot of people who think they are

Influencing anyone but hey, let them live in their little bubble

You know, you know everybody knows those guys

I mean they're having like take on twitch maybe 1000 followers and

In the stream they have about 20 people

They call himself an influencer. Yeah. Yeah, they might influence actually, like maybe one or two children

Anyways, that's not what we're gonna talk about. No, no, no, we're gonna turn around a bit more on my chair and

What is it with this music why were you even playing this hmm?

Anyways, let's change tracks a bit more dramatic. Yeah

Mm-hmm. Okay. Now how wait a minute this wasn't the kind of dramatic i meant

So first things first, we need to find some something more dramatic yeah something like

Yeah, this this sounds good this sounds really good right let's go with this

So it has been awhile since I it's something original well here you have it doing original

Look and how creepy I can move any debts original

anyways

Wanted to give you some kind of update. I'm a pretty busy guy. So

There's a reason why I'm not that

Hmm. I'm not that like, you know

here

Like doing original movies and stuff

Don't worry. I'm studying and it prolly take me two more years. But uh, I'll be here from time to time

I didn't forget about you guys and girls I certainly didn't so don't worry. I'll never be gone

Time to time I might stream from time to time. It might make something original

From time to time might do something dumb like I'm doing right now

alright

Thanks for watching guys of girls

No for real thought, this is it I mean that that's it that this is my movie this was

Well, maybe a bit uninspiring I admit I admit I have better stuff

But still then again, it's better than nothing. Right? I think so

Don't you?

Yeah, you must think so

anyways

Time for Grifter to sign off. All right

Thanks you a lot

Thanks

Loyal fans. Hope you liked it a lot

Matter of fact, I think you I think you I thought I THANK you so much. I will give a game away

I will I will I will give a game away

Dr's react to Bollywood Stars - Duration: 17:53.

hello everyone Here I am again today with my friend and colleague dr. Kishan

hi guys today we are going to be discussing a

topic which I don't think you've exactly been clamoring for but I'm sure you saw

where this was going that's right we are gonna be talking

about Bollywood stars and the work that they may or may not have done and this

is I mean I've been a huge fan since I was a kid I know you've been quite a fan

as well in your in your own right you've been to India I have saris you were

almost obligatory dancing girls one of the movies none of that is true I'm not

exactly a happy India but I don't think I've seen my fair share of Bollywood

films so when I thought this was a good idea I did have to take most of my

inspiration from you but certainly from the pictures that I've seen of the stars

that we're gonna comment on I gotta say they look amazing I mean this is a

multi-million dollar industry this is I mean India's known for like two main

passions one is cricket and the other is movies so the film industry is huge out

there it's a place where social topics are discussed and the music industry

comes from within the industry the actors actors and actresses and not just

vehicles for the stories but in themselves they will look stunning they

look absolutely stunning some of these things that we've been talking about in

terms of aesthetic proportions when we're going to look at these people's

faces you can see that the phi concept the Fibonacci principle is all reflected

in there so certainly with regards to some of the

other videos that I did looking at more Hollywood celebrities I'd say that

there's a difference in the two so in these Indian celebrities the

Bollywood celebrities that we're going to be referencing their work is

immaculate soon absolutely undetectable I mean I agree and Sarah I think this is

the thing this is the key thing I think from the beginning we've got to say that

we actually had known nothing about whether any of these stars categorically

have had any treatment done however

I think if they have had any work done I think this is important to say from the

outset they work is impeccable yeah it's great understanding greater they're just

preserved not frozen they're not they're not deformed I mean the people were

going to discuss our examples are fantastic but I've got to say Sarah you

know one thing and I in our favor is that beige don't age people's Oh before

we move on and we were talking about the celebrity doctor that they have over

there energy you named a couple of them do you know I'm like like yourself we go

to all sorts of esthetics conferences we go to dermatology training and there's

two that I've heard of and one though I've seen actually at one of the

conference's her name's Mukhtar Sajdev another lady I've heard about is jamming

our pie they're both renowned dermatologists in India and they were

and they're both also famous for carrying out non-invasive injectable

treatments peels laser therapies and these are really developing at a huge

huge rate in India now so I remember you and me went to see that particular

doctor lecture in Barcelona who talked about avoiding complications I think you

remember who I talk to

yeah I mean you could do the voice I can't do I think we'll leave the voice

okay that's another time yeah okay so let's go straight on to our first lady

leading lady Madhuri who is a lady I believe you have met yeah I met him in

2000 she's obviously not gonna remember me but me and my family we we sort of we

stalked her she ended up on a film set and met her in 2000 I've got no idea

what age she was but I've got to tell you looking at these pictures and

looking at the film I saw recently where she plays a 40 year old housewife she

looks the same as some great security they've got on that set isn't it amazing

but yeah I feel exactly the same thing when I saw the pictures o-m-g

maintenance it's the main chance that she's undergone because her skin it just

looks absolutely your looks amazing got to say when I was

a kid she was known for having quite poor skin yeah so either I mean another

thing she's married to a very famous doctor now and I'm just assuming that

she's had the best that's available in terms of dermatology in terms of

whatever treatment you know she may or may not have had she's able to access

the best that the best that one could have so her skin I'm not surprised is

glowing and radiant I think they've done a great job with her so some of the

things that we pointed out before the lateral part of the eye for me looks

quite raised so I do think that she's had a bit of filler on to you I do I do

I will come out on a limb and say that um the cheek also looks a little bit

repositioned I think you like you mentioned before I mean that as we age

tissues move medially and South and I think what appears to me for monthly is

that everything just seems to be gradually just lifted you know you could

argue maybe that's just her unique their shape you know her unique shape that's

the way of aging has has happened for her you could argue that you could argue

you could yeah um but I mean there's no doubt about it she is a stunning

stunning woman and you know she's known for her smile her eyes I mean I could

admit when I met her in real life her beauty is breathtaking

me as well the the shape of the face has changed from being you know a little

more on the square side yes you've been longer and that's something which also

occurred with Renee Zellweger remember hmm the same yes yeah she's

been relayed I think she's very heart-shaped she's very she's literally

got that triangle of you that we all want I am in love with these stars I

think she's got she's been Renee but she looks amazing yeah

next up we've got Priyanka Chopra famous at least to me for her role in Quantico

over to you I mean she's a little bit different Priyanka and so literally a

beauty queen in the real sense of the word I think she started off by winning

Miss Globe some booties or contests and then she's had a string of films in

India and highly successful career huge advertising contracts and then she's

quite unique in the sense that she's made her own role in America really

really she's really renowned for for bridging the gap between Hollywood as

well so Priyanka is a bit of a trailblazer not only in terms of her

career but also in her love life as well of

course you just recently got married to Nick Jonas

undoubtedly frankart is a stunning beautiful woman of course the reason

you're all on this channel is you're wondering has she had anything done well

for me I do think there is a bit of a change in the nose so I suspect that she

probably had a very minor rhinoplasty which is very common and also there's a

change in the smile as well so beforehand the smile was quite canine

there was there was quite a lot of show wasn't there you could see and then

maybe she's had some treatment to slightly mask that it's possible the

other thing I know is Priyanka is really famous for her full full lips and we

know that like from the age 25 28 29 onwards the lips start to lose volume so

it's not unfeasible that she might have opted in for a treatment like like a

gentle but she has got probably the most famous

lips and I can see why but whatever work it is that she has had

done I again think it's very very tastefully done they've done a great job

not sure who's responsible for that but thumbs over anyone okay okay he has

to put that caveat in but thumbs up really is it's nice work I think what's

interesting about Priyanka's face is something about the aesthetic

proportions where we've got quite a nice strong jaw and and really full lips as

well I mean we've said there's no people like Angelina Jolie they will get away

with those beautiful lips exactly we get some of our patients who will say look I

want lips like Priyanka Chopra yeah I've actually had that asked me so many times

but when your face is very slim or there's not much in terms of soft tissue

there to support those fuller lips can look a little bit of a mismatch

quite right yeah and you don't know why but it is that it's that aesthetic

proportionate yeah so it's the width guys if you want to have full lips you

really need to have a bit of width in the jaw next up we've got our SRK yeah

we do love Shahrukh Khan he's amazing Thanks amazing I mean the guy is 50 at

least he's done the I've done one of most in like interesting TED talks the

Bollywood stars ever delivered the man is still dressing up in superhero

outfits doing I thought from what I know he's still doing some of his own stunts

at the age of 50 plus and he looks great amazing he used to be one of these

evergreen stars who running around the hills and and with one of his very

famous actresses they used to work with Dajjal and they weren't quite a few hits

together his roles have really diversified since then and I think

facially he looks better and better and better than he did back in the day but

what's interesting is his face has matured into a sort of more slightly

more masculine version of himself it's got a stronger jaw I think from what we

know about Magaziner facial surgery and you know the the aging of the facial

skeleton it's very interesting that usually the lower part of the face or

the lower facial skeleton the mandible tends to have different changes jawbone

yes sorry sorry yes so the the jaw bone changes with age and actually we get

some resorption of that bone in men and in women but with Shahrukh who just

looks healthier and stronger and even more masculine as

time progresses and dr. Kishen what do you think could possibly be responsible

gonna get to commit I could just be healthy living working out on the gym I

mean that's a possibility in a growth hormone testosterone GUI works do you

think that a chin could change like that I mean you know we're gonna if you are

gonna hold me down don't have to say this is one gentleman I think he

probably has had someone it's good it's very good I think he looks more

masculine they've managed to keep that they haven't made him feminized which

can often happen when a man gets injected they've done a lovely job on

him but yeah Chin's don't age like that

I'll have to come and see you now Sara one time

new chains good know I need a day

last but not least we've got difficult part of coney again like priyanka she's

had an amazing career it's unique it's it's not unique it's also very

interesting because she's managed to combine working in Hollywood as well as

in Bombay she's working it like a very very diverse in terms of her acting

roles she reminds me of Bella Hadid the nose

do you know looks like very interesting facial structure isn't it yeah it's

interesting like utiful they have the same surgeon maybe well I mean look at

the pictures I don't think there's any denying that there's a rhinoplasty going

on here could ever make up Sarah know what you girls get up to with all your

contouring but yeah bring him on this video you're not gonna commit to

anything that's fine I think she's really famous for her dimple sort of and

she has got this classic triangle of youth and I think you know like apart

from trying to get me to commit to having an opinion about these these

celebrities I think what's really important about the Indian film stars is

they've actually got some fantastic facial proportions which if we have a

patient who comes to us who's like this and actually wants to press pause on the

facial aging process we've got the tools where we can preserve that triangle of

beauty where we can maintain those those superficial and deep fat pads so we kind

of just pressed pause and they will look better and better and better cheeks like

they tend not to age - well you know they do get heavier as the facial

structure changes as we get older cheeks which are previously the fad was here it

will end up sliding down the face and she's managed to magically not have that

happen to her so I would dare say that there is a bit of clever work going on

here but again very nice would I swap faces probably yes I think what's also

interesting is that all of these stars have got a lot of question on them not

just to look young but to look really fit so they will have rigorous training

schedules diet their their exercise that they'll be doing is going to have a toll

on their facial structure as well and classically we see sort of a May last

split because of separation of the fat pads all or certainly sort of a more

pronounced Ridge within the within the cheek zone yeah and that we don't see

with these these wonderful looking celebrities yeah so what a mystery it is

all masses died for that weight we something which we do see quite a lot

reference with regards to Bollywood stars is changing in skin tone not the

stars in particular but it's often something which is written about you

know them changing themselves in this way do you have any comment I just think

it's fascinating because there's been for many for decades if not centuries

there's been a preoccupation with having a fairer more golden or sometimes they

describe that as a wheatish complexion so in India they say if you have a

wheatish complexion you're more attractive you're more likely to find a

partner and like your other studies have shown about sort of levels of

attractiveness you will have a better life in general you you'll have a better

job you'll be acquitted of crimes easier so yeah it's unique to India in the

sense that people will avoid the Sun people will sometimes use skincare or

have treatments that makes their skin brighter and there's a multi-million

dollar industry in fairness creams for example I'm really pleased to say that I

think in India things have changed or they are changing we're sort of

different complexions of being held up as examples of beauty as well and this

goes back to our aesthetic proportions genuinely beautiful faces and

idealized as examples of beauty regardless of skin color and I think

that's a really progressive thing bindiya there's quite a few models now

who have been identified as sort of having darker complexion and and yet

very beautiful so there's Nandita Das there's Kajol there's Bipahsha Basu

and gargle is quite famous because she used to like resolutely have sort of a

monobrow she wouldn't sort of separate the other

brows and it gave her a very natural very girl-next-door look and I think

this is why having this conversation is great because it opens up discussion but

I think many many Indian women and men have sort of believed in healthy natural

good looks portraying them portraying themselves as in the most natural way

possible minimal makeup

classically they've denied having plastic surgery or injectables I do

think that's changing and just from conversations I we've been having with

Indian doctors it just seems to be more and more popular these days kind of

expensive over there I think for the level of skill that some

of these doctors have it's you really do get the service that you pay for

I mean just looking at these stars that we've been talking about there's a few

male stars who look so good I mean including us SRK Aamir Khan amongst

others and they've reached this age looking as good as that I have to say if

I look as good as that when I'm in sort of 50 55 60 and I'll be very very happy

so I suppose we should definitely stay friends I guess we're gonna have to

yeah

okay guys so that's it for this week I hope you really enjoyed the video if

you've got any comments suggestions anything you'd like to say please just

drop it in the comment section below and I will see you again next week see you

later

The Mark of a Great Opening Pitch Selling Merchant Services - Duration: 5:46.

Hi, my name is James Shepherd.

Today I want to share with you the mark of a great opening pitch, when you are selling

merchant services.

You are going into a small business walking in or you are on the phone and you are trying

to come up with a great opening pitch.

What do you say when you first meet the merchant.

How can you tell if you are having success with the opening pitch?

Well, one thing I've really come up with lately is I've been working with agents

in our 6 Week Jump Start Program and trying to help them with their pitch, trying to help

improve it.

I've come up with an interesting metric that I use with the opening pitch and that

is how many times, what percentage of the time do people ask you a question after you

finish your opening statement?

How many times does the prospect, what percentage of the time does the prospect ask you a question

following your opening statement?

You should really be getting a good 30 to 50% of people after your opening to ask you

a question.

Let me give you an example of a couple opening pitches that I've been talking to sales

people about and things lately.

Let's say that we are selling cash discounting for instance.

One agent I know uses a pitch similar to this, where he goes in and says, "Hey, I know

you get all kinds of people coming in here pitching you merchant services and so there

is always that constant barrage.

The reason I am here today is not to talk to you about any traditional processing or

anything like that, but the reason I am here to talk to you is I have a program that is

$89 a month.

There are no transaction fees.

There is no percentage fees, no other monthly fees.

There is nothing.

It is just an $89 a month program.

Whatever you are paying in credit card processing fees right now, it would just be $89."

He just stops.

It is very important what you do at the end of that.

You could add something onto the end of that opening pitch and really ruin it by saying

something like you know, "Is that something you are interested in?"

Well then, you are asking them for a response.

You don't want a response.

You want a question at the end of your opening pitch.

Okay, so if you can get a good question at the end of it, that's a great opening pitch.

So by just stopping there, what is merchant going to say?

Well, they are going to probably say something like, "Well, how do you do that?"

That is a really good opening pitch because you are getting that question at the end of

it.

That is really, really powerful.

Let's say that you are selling traditional processing and you are talking to maybe a

larger merchant, or maybe a multi-location merchant.

You go in there and say, introduce myself, "Hi, my name is James Shepherd.

The reason I stopped by today is I'm a consultant and what I try to do, I try to help people

reduce or even cut potentially 20, 30% off of one of the largest expenses on their profit

and loss statement, on their income statement."

You just stop right there.

When you say that, what is the prospect going to say?

They are going to say, "Which one?"

You know.

The agent I talked to, I didn't come up with that one.

That was actually an agent came up with that and shared it with me yesterday.

He is using that pitch and he is getting a lot of people to say, "Which one?"

He said, "Sometimes they'll even joke with him a little bit and say, "Well, yea,

how about my payroll?

Can you reduce that one by 50%?"

You know and kind of joke about it.

Then they ask, "Which one are you talking about?"

Then he goes into "Well, I'm sure you noticed on your statement how big your payment

processing fee is relative to even your rent.

A lot of people pay more to process credit card payments than they do for their rent.

My goal as a consultant is just kind of review that and see if there is something we can

do," and the rest of the spiel.

Think about that.

Now there are definitely other opening pitches that you can utilize.

I used an opening pitch for years that got a controlled response.

It didn't actually get a question at the end of it.

For years, I used an opening pitch where my question at the end of it was about their

processor.

I would say, "Do you know who you are currently processing with?"

No matter what they said, I already had my response prepared for that, but what I've

noticed is that over the years as the market has gotten a little bit tougher to sell in,

you actually don't want to put all your cards out on the table in your opening pitch.

A lot of times you want to make that opening statement without ever even mentioning merchant

services, without ever mentioning credit card processing, especially if you are in one of

these metropolitan areas.

You are in Dallas, Texas, or New York City, San Francisco, LA, that kind of thing.

You don't really want your opening pitch to be all about merchant services, because

you are going to get to the end of the opening pitch and they are going to say, "I'm

not interested.

Get out of here."

So instead of a response, try to restructure your opening so that it elicits a question.

The reason that is so important is because when a prospect is asking you a question,

there are two things about that, that are very important.

#1.

Asking someone a question means that you expect them to give you a reply.

If you are doing your opening pitch and somebody says, "I'm not interested."

They don't want you to say anything else.

What they want you to say is, "Okay, have a nice day," right?

So you are really going against the grain to continue the conversation.

When someone asks you a question and says, "Well, how do you do that?"

Or "What do you mean?

Which expense item is it?"

They are expecting a response and so now you have another chance to say something.

If you can kind of keep that process going where the prospect and you are engaged in

a back and forth conversation, it's really going to help you out a lot.

My challenge to you today is really, really simple.

Think about your opening pitch.

Okay, when I say opening pitch I realize there is usually a little bit of small talk when

you first walk in, or on the phone, but once you start talking about what you are selling

and you get done with that opening statement, that 15 to 30 second, maybe 45 second pitch

that you have, or presentation you have and then you get to the end of that statement

and you stop.

The merchant has a chance to respond.

See if you can come up with a pitch that's going to get them at that moment to instead

of giving you a yes or no response, or some kind of response to instead give you a question

to allow you to continue the conversation.

Try that out.

I really think it will help you.

Again, my name is James Shepherd.

Thanks for watching and listening.

Olivier Giroud Open to France or Premier League Move Following Gonzalo Higuain Arrival at Chelsea - Duration: 2:25.

Olivier Giroud has admitted that a move back to France could be on the cards following Gonzalo Higuain's arrival at Chelsea, though he would prefer to stay in the Premier League

The Frenchman has found a starting berth hard to come by under Maurizio Sarri this term, after being sporadically kept out by the departing Alvaro Morata and then Eden Hazard

Giroud has 18 appearances in the league, though just six of those have been starts, and this is reflected in his tally of one goal and four assists domestically

His goalscoring form has been more present in the Europa League, with four goals from five games, but that success has not translated to more minutes in important encounters

And, speaking to French broadcaster Canal just before Higuian's arrival in west London was announced, the former Arsenal man revealed his frustrations at his situation with both club and country: "I will never make people unanimously satisfied with me

"There is a little part of regret and frustration. The public expects a goalscorer to score goals

I'm the fourth best goalscorer of French football and nobody can take that away from me

"Caption this. pic.twitter.com/YaA3RZg7db— 90min (@90min_Football) January 28, 2019 And Giroud admitted the use of Hazard up front had particularly annoyed him, explaining: "The coach makes Hazard play nine which is detrimental to strikers

But he is the best player I've ever played with."If the club decides to get another striker, like Higuain, it will certainly darken my future at Chelsea

I've never said no to a return to France. Lyon and Marseille are two great clubs

My priority is to stay in the Premier League though."Higuain made his debut for the Blues in the FA Cup fourth round defeat of Sheffield Wednesday, though Giroud did manage to provide an assist in his eight minute cameo

eliminare sintomi post sbornia | il rimedio dell' apicoltore| APPROVATO DAI MEDICI - Duration: 1:31.

Hi, I'm an Apiarist and today I'll tell you how to remedy the side effects of an epic hangover.

Let's fly over the reasons you are in this state and focus on the present:

you have a bad headache and stomach upside down, you feel at all rested and the seconds hand goes in slow motion.

These are the signs that your body is disposing of alcohol.

The alcohol to be disposed of first transforms into acetaldehyde, which is a more annoying substance than alcohol itself

because the body can not metabolize and for this reason you now feel bad.

To get back to being well, you have to wait for the body to transform acetaldehyde into acetic acid, easily removed from your body.

And this is where the Honey comes into play.

The fructose contained in honey and the antioxidants inside it, accelerate the transformation of acetaldehyde,

he substance that makes you feel bad, in acetic acid that you will easily eliminate with a nice piss.

Getting back in shape and able to resume your daily activities.
