Ohh my god!
Holy crap!
Hey.
You wanna try down there first?
Yes or no?
[Senko Dad] Yeah, okay.
Hi. [Erin] Hey.
[Brendon] It's pretty crazy.
I wanna see over there, look over there!
Over there looks crazy.
Woah.
On!!
Small one.
Too small.
Not what I'm going for.
AAAhhhrgh!
Ahh!
Haaaaa!!!!
That was a big one!
[Erin] Your line is wrapped all around yourself.
It's like, around your neck.
[Brendon] It messed me up.
Time to take out the 80 lb. KastKing monofilament leader
20 lb was not working!
It snapped me off.
This knife, very sharp.
These scissors have been saving my life, too.
Get yourself a pair of scissors,
this should be in part of your tackle box right here.
[exhaling] Alright, back in comission.
I'm going to show you guys how to fish
some craziness right here.
This is stuff that I've seen on YouTube for
for years.
Well, we've been here for a week and I've learned a lot so far,
I want to share with you what I've learned.
First off,
make sure you have heavy leader line!
Heavy leader line, because if you're fishing around rocks
braid will snap as soon as it touches a rock,
whereas monofilament, flourocarbon,
is very
resistant to snapping.
It can take some damage.
Right now I'm using KastKing
leader line and it's been great,
it's been landing me a lot of fish
and you guys saw us catch these baits this morning
uh, these are perfect
if you want more success
and if you want to start catching fish faster
use smaller pieces
but if you want bigger fish
use bigger pieces--ooh!
Cold!
Okay.
So now, when I cut this crab
I'm cutting the legs off first,
take the body off...
holy crap, waves are getting really big,
take the body off,
cut it in half...
and you see these sections, right here?
Cut along with the section.
Just like that.
So this crab gave me four pieces,
and I thank you, crab, for giving me your life,
you're going to catch my dinner tonight,
and you're not going to go to waste, you're going to
feed my family of seven tonight
so thank you
for giving your life
to feed my family.
See how the hook is hidden?
Perfect.
So before, I've been using small hooks
I upgraded the hook size
and now I'm putting some bigger bait on.
See if it catches a bigger fish.
Oh, my god!
Holy crap!
Uuurgh!
Whoo!
[Erin laughing]
Phew!
[breathing heavily]
Hoooooo!
[Erin] Careful.
[Brendon] Oh my god!
Yes!!
[Erin] Wow, wow.
[Erin] I'm proud of you.
[Brendon] You don't really need to use sinkers.
You're not bottom fishing here
especially in this craziness--
especially in this kind of craziness,
you wanna fish
by drifting
and you always wanna keep an--
you always want to know where your line is
if you're on the bottom, you're going to get snagged really quickly,
so what we've been doing is drift fishing.
Um,
with drift fishing,
you cast it out
upwards and let it
drift back to you
keeping in mind where the line is at the same time.
Um...
and we've got the perfect rod for that right now,
it's the KastKing Chrome
this is made
this is covered in kevlar,
kevlar is used for bullet proof vests,
so I'm not afrid of
of dropping this rod or stepping on this rod,
the rod itself is made of carbon, very strong,
uh, this is actually
meant for very big fish,
see? Free Drifter.
Exact--this is perfect for what I'm doing right now.
[Erin] Yeah, you were saying earlier that you don't have another rod that could do this, right?
[Brendon] I don't have another rod that can function like this,
not as well for drift fishing
this is the best so far.
um, and I'm using the KastKing Kodiak
which looks small
but it packs a mighty punch,
it can--it has
39.5 lbs. of drag in it
that's a lot for a little reel like this.
I've got 15 lb.
KastPro line on here as well,
KastKing, you guys really set us up this time, thank you.
[Erin] No teeth?
Guys, if you are a fish expert out there,
help us identify this fish, how'd it fight?
Did it pull?
[Senko Dad] Yeah.
[Erin] It's all so easy to forget that what we're doing
is actually pretty weird for a resort...
Like,
everyone else is just like, lounging around by the pool
and we're decked out
in fishing gear,
climbing on the rocks, and no one else is doing it, so...
[Brendon] I wanted to warn everybody
before they go and try this themselves,
this is very dangerous fishing.
It's not for people who--
you need to be physically ready for this,
not only the sun, the sun will be beaming down on you,
you need to have long sleeves, this is not--
I don't wear this to look cool.
I don't wear this to look cool.
Even though I do look cool,
I don't wear it to look cool,
it's because I'm protecting my skin.
Sun poisoning is one of the top injuries here in Cabo San Lucas
so make sure you wear long sleeves
and a hat that covers your neck.
The rocks here are very dangerous
because the waves are very strong and you don't know if a wave is going to hit you or not,
so what I do
is one: I come during low tide.
Low tide, when the waves are not as crazy,
oh! and my Dad's on a big fish!
Hold on.
Whoo! Woah!!
Holy crap, another hog fish!
[Senko Dad] Who's your boss? [Brendon] Oh my god!
[Senko Dad] Where are you going? [Brendon] Yeahh!!!
Look at that!
Holy crap!
That is awesome.
[Senko Dad] Right through there, man.
Right through where it needs to be.
[Brendon] Oh my god, nice, Dad.
Alright, we've got two fish for dinner now.
Beau--oh my god, that is a really nice
lookin' fish, you're lucky with the hog fish, huh?
[Erin] Woah.
[Erin] That's a crazy lookin' fish, Mr. Mike!
[Senko Dad] Yeah. [Brendon] Good job, Dad.
[Senko Dad] No, no kissing.
[Erin] It's going to bite your lips. [Senko Dad] It's got some teeth in there, yeah.
[Senko Dad] The lips so sweet though...
[Brendon] You guys give it a kiss.
Mwah!
[Senko Dad] Ah! No! [Erin] Ew!
[Brendon] I would have done it, give me'em,
I'll give it a nice frencher.
[Erin] No--! Ew!! [Senko Dad] Ahh!!! Ha ha!
[Brendon] I liked it.
[Erin] Brendon!
[Brendon] I did!
[Senko Dad] No, let's put him in the bucket.
[Brendon] Okay.
[Erin] Woah.
Did you cut yourself?
[Brendon] A little bit.
Yeah!!!!
Step on rocks, don't step on this soft sand here.
[Erin] Okay.
[grunting]
[Woman] Well, show us what you got.
[Brendon] Huh?
I've got it in th bucket.
[people talking]
[Woman #2] What did you catch?
[Brendon] A lot.
But two really big ones.
[Man] What are they? What you got?
[Brendon] A Mexican Hog fish-- [Man] Oh, yeah?
[Brendon] and a--a hawk fish. [Woman #2] Ooooh!
[Woman #2] Wow!
[Woman #2] Look at that!
[Woman #2] Woooow! Look how beautiful--oh my god, I've got to take a picture.
[Woman #2] Do you mind? [Brendon] No, no, not at all.
[Woman #2] Oh my gosh. [Brendon laughing]
[Man] What are you going to do with 'em? [Brendon] Cook 'em up.
Take 'em to the...
a restaurant, or cook it up right in here.
[Woman] Oh, so you just fly down here to cook? [Brendon] Yeah.
[Woman] So can anybody go down there?
[Brendon] I would be very, very, very careful.
[Woman] It's really hard to fish down there.
[Brendon] It is, this is my first time fishing something like this.
[Woman #2] Oh my god, that's incredible.
[Brendon] We uh, we film a fishing show.
[Woman] Oh, pull him up and I'll get a picture of you in it.
[Woman] See, that's pretty good. [Brendon laughing] [Woman #2] Oh my god! Look at that, both of 'em, look at that!
[Woman] Oh my! [Woman #2] You didn't know you were going to be famous when you came back.
[Brendon] Crabs that I caught in the morning
[Man] Uh huh.
[Woman #2] Awesome. [Brendon] If you want to see the video it's on senko skipper. [audience member] Whoo!
[Brendon] on YouTube. [Woman #1 & #2] Really? [Brendon] Yup.
[Woman #2] Second Skipper on YouTube. [Brendon] --Senko.
[Brendon] S-E-N-K-O
[Woman] What is it? S-E-N?
[Brendon] K-O.
S-E-N-K-O
Yeah.
We travel around, fish, and document teaching people how to fish new areas.
[Woman #2] Woah. [Woman] Well, yeah, because I don't think--wouldn't your line break or get caught in the rock?
[Brendon] Yes, that's why you don't use any weights or anything.
[Woman] Ahh, and you probably use heavier line?
[Brendon] Yeah, this one--this is not what I was using, basically just a hook
and a crab
and you throw it out there.
[Woman #2] Wow, and you're down there in the water too!
[Woman #2] Oh my god! Wow! [Woman] You are most wonderful, that's something. [Brendon] Yeah, she's a trooper.
[Woman #2] Oh my gosh! [Brendon] She's the camera woman.
[Woman #3] They're gonna cook it for you?
[Brendon] For the whole resort, for everybody!
[Man] Fish tacos tonight!
[people talking and laughing]
[Brendon] I wish I could catch enough for everyone to eat.
[people agreeing] Yeah... [Brendon] a nice feast, wouldn't that be nice?
[Woman] So one of the restaurants is cooking it for you?
[Brendon] I was going to cook it myself, or I was going to
take it to a restaurant called El Coral.
[people] oh... [Brendon] That will cook it for us....
[Man #2] Where did you catch? Right here?
[Brendon] Uh huh. [Man #2] Really? [Brendon] A lot.
[Man #2] You know the name? It's a...
[Brendon] Hog--hog fish. [Man #2] This is pargo.
[Brendon] Pargo? [Man #2] Uh huh.
[Erin] Alright, have a good day. [Brendon] Bye, everybody.
[Brendon] Hmm, I want to find my mom.
[Brendon] Oh, let's ask if they'll put it on the grill!
Let's ask if they'll put it on the grill!
[Woman] What'dya got here?
[Brendon] I just caught-- I was down there-- [Woman] I know, I was watching you
[Brendon] Over there? [Woman] over, I think over there,
[Brendon] This is a, uh, a hawk fish,
a Giant Hawk fish, [Woman] Oh wow.
and then this is a
[Woman] cool. [Brendon] Look at this one, this one is crazy
look at the tail on that. [Woman] Wooow, oh my gosh,
[Woman] the coloring...
[Brendon] My dad caught that, a Hog Fish, a Mexican Hog fish, yeah.
[Woman] Wooow.
[Brendon] I wonder if they'll grill it up for me right now.
[Woman] They're very friendly, I bet you they would.
[Man] We can't! [Brendon] You cannot?
[Erin] Aw... [Brendon] Look at this one!
[Man] Wow!
[Brendon] Right here.
[Brendon] Look, this is what we were using for bait.
We caught all these crabs in the morning.
By the rocks...
[Woman] Oh, wow.
[Brendon] And you cut those in half
[Erin] Show them.
[Woman] And they seem to like that, huh?
[Brendon] Bait. This eat.
[Man] What's he eating?
[Brendon] This eat.
The whole thing.
[People laughing and exclaiming]
[Brendon] Right there, at the beach right there.
I was standing on those crazy rocks!
[people talking] [Man] what did you get?
[Man] No way!
[Woman] Yeahhh!! That's so cool! Good for you!
[Brendon] This one is a hog fish,
[Man] On the rocks! [Brendon] This one is a hawk fish.
[Woman] oh, hawk fish? [Brendon] A hawk fish, yeah.
[people laughing and talking]
[Brendon] I know, right?
[Man] They're weird... [Brendon] and I was catching crabs in the morning
[people exclaiming] Ohh!! [Brendon] and they eat the whole thing!
[Woman] Oh. [Brendon] Yeah.
[people talking]
[Brendon] Look at the teeth on there.
Yeah.
She's the camera woman.
[people cheering] Good job, sister.
[Brendon] We've got it all on camera.
Thank you, thank you.
My hands are all fishy.
[laughing]
[Woman] We don't mind the fish.
[Brendon] Wanna see?
[Man] Bring the whole bucket to me.
[Man] I want to take a picture with you and all the family.
[Brendon laughing]
Okay...
You guys want to hold the fish? Ha ha.
[ Man] Yeah!
[Man] Ready? [Brendon] Come in, come in, come in.
[Man] Just pick him out, woah look at that! [people] Woahh!! Oooh!!!
[Man] Look at that! [Erin laughing]
[Man] Yaaaaaay!
[Brendon laughing] Ah, good!
[PEople] Ooohhhhh, [talking]
[Man] Nice fish!
[Brendon] Yeah, we're going to eat him up tonight!
[Man] There you go!
[Brendon] This one still has the hook in his mouth.
[Man] The fresh the better, right?
[Brendon] Yup.
They eat these crabs.
[People] Ohh! Woahh!!!
[Brendon] You can put it on a hook,
[Man] Oh, you use that as bait? [Brendon] Yup.
[people laughing and talking]
[Brendon] Bye, guys.
For my auntie
and my family,
I present to you
a Giant Hawk Fish
[Auntie Kim] Hawk? Which one?
[Brendon] Hawk, this one's Hawk.
This one is
Hog.
[Auntie Kim] Hog... [Brendon] Mhmm...
[Erin] Look at the teeth....
