Youtube daily report Aug 6 2018

(upbeat music)

- Ah!

Hey, everyone,

and welcome back to the CrankThatFrank channel.

The only channel on YouTube where you can get

family-friendly alternative content.

And, before we talk about what's going on in today's video,

even though you already read the title,

we got sponsored again!

By, literally, one of my favorite apps,

if not my favorite app, Amino!

Amino is a mobile network for every interest on the planet,

and my favorite network, personally, is Emo Amino.

It's so perfect!

An emo video for Emo Amino, could this get any better?

There's so much going on in the Emo Amino,

and I've talked about it before, but, really,

my favorite things are

one, if we scroll a little bit, polls.

Perfect!

Which band do you think is better,

Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy,

or twenty one pilots?

Good luck voting in that poll. (laughs)

I think it's so cool that there's just an entire community

for everything emo-related.

It's a perfect fit for me,

and I know it's a perfect fit for you.

And, being undefeated, right next to polls,

you'll find quizzes.

That's also something I love,

because I love challenging myself.

We see this, guess the song.

And this is guess the song by the lyrics,

which is honestly perfect.

You get to challenge yourself and your emo knowledge.

There's always something to do on the Emo Amino.

And, right now, there's like 186 people online.

Now, for the super, super exciting part.

With the help of Amino, I'll be giving away three vinyls

of one from each band featured in today's video.

So, one Fall Out Boy vinyl, one My Chemical Romance vinyl,

and one twenty one pilots vinyl.

Specifically,

I'll be giving away each of their latest albums on vinyl.

So, I'll be giving away Mania, Blurryface,

I got sad about My Chemical Romance for a second,

and Danger Days.

So, if you want to win Mania, Blurryface, and Danger Days,

all you have to do to participate in the contest

is to click the link at the very top of my description

or my pinned comment,

download Amino for free on iOS or Android

or just search your app store.

Once you're on Amino, you can search Emo to join,

and then post the best Emo meme to my page on Emo Amino.

My username on there is CrankThatFrank, feel free to add me.

Thank you so much Amino for sponsoring today's video.

Honestly, the perfect fit,

and I know you guys are absolutely gonna love this app.

Okay, guys, are you ready to just dive right into it?

I love these guess the emo song in one second challenges

because it tests, not only my emo knowledge,

but yours as well.

And I love how much we call each other fake fans.

It's all about the memes, okay?

If you can't guess a song in one second,

does that mean you're a fake fan?

No, it doesn't, okay?

And I'm saying that because I'm protecting myself.

I did some homework.

Homework.

My homework is much different from your homework

in the fact that I get to listen to emo albums on repeat.

So, for anyone who's new to the channel,

the way I do these is there's gonna be no jump cuts at all,

besides between each quiz.

So, I can't pause it and be like, "Hm, let me Google this."

Would that even work?

Let me put this one second audio clip in Shazam

and see what comes up.

But, no, there's gonna be no jump cuts,

so nothing can be funny, as usual on this channel,

and we're gonna go

Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance,

and then twenty one pilots.

So, I hope you guys are ready.

I want you to play along with me.

And, let's shall enter screens together

and hopefully we all get nothing wrong,

because we're all undefeated emo Gods.

Oh, by the way, before I start,

I want to remind you guys I'm going on tour!

It's called the Kinda Emo Tour.

You can find the dates in the description,

and you can grab tickets at fullscreenlive.com.

I can't wait, me and Eva can't wait.

It's gonna be me and Eva on a 12 city tour,

and it's very, very exciting,

and we can't wait.

So, fullscreenlive.com

or check in the description for a direct link.

It's bit.ly/kindaemotour.

Okay, guess the Fall Out Boy song in one second!

One second's more than enough time.

I need a millisecond.

Three seconds to decide what it is, ten questions.

We've done this before, we've kinda.

Whoa, whoa.

You are really becoming an iconic figure

what do you make of it

it's what my grandmother told me I had to do

I was sitting with

Tyrese a couple couple weeks ago

just talking about the business and just trying to

really just he and I get on the same wavelength

so I can be some of assistance if I can

there's a concept that

I don't want to be an icon

I want to be an idea

I want to represent an idea

I want to represent possibilities

I want to represent magic

right

that you're in a universe in 2 plus 2

equals 4

2 plus 2 equals 4 if you accept that 2 plus 2

equals 4

2 plus 2 is going be what I want it to be

there's a redemptive power

that making a choice has

you know rather than feeling like you're at affect

to all the things that are happening

make a choice

like you just decide what it's going to be

who you're going to be

how you're going to do it

just decide

and then from that point

the universe is going to get out your way

it's like water

once it wants to move and go around stuff

so for me

I want to represent possibilities

I want to represent the idea that

you really can make what you want

one of my favorite books

is the The Alchemist Paulo Coelho and

and that's just I just believe that

I believe that

I can create whatever I want to create

if I can put put my head on it right

study it learn the patterns

I feel very strongly

that we are who we choose to be

I consider myself an alchemist

an alchemist is basically a mystical chemist

one of the great feats

that alchemists used to do is they would take lead

just take a chunk of lead

and they could turn lead into gold

right, so

the symbol is I'm a good hustle

so connected to symbolically

being able to turn lead into gold

you know my grandmother used to say

get your lemon you go ahead

and make lemonade

to me that's alchemy

that's that that's the same concept

behind the alchemists

the only thing that that I can see

and you can never really look at yourself

the only thing that I see that is

distinctly different about me

is I'm not afraid to die on a treadmill

you might have more talent than me

you might be smarter than me

you might be sexier than me

you might be all of those things you got it on me

in nine categories

but if we get on the treadmill together right

there's two things

you're getting off first or I'm going to die

it's really that simple

so

let's go back to the question about what

if people block me out

there's going to be two options

I'm going to get back in

or I'm going to be dead

it's like you're not going to outwork me

it's such a simple basic concept

the guy who is willing to hustle the most

is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball

it's like the commodity that I see

the majority of people who aren't getting

the places they want or aren't achieving

the things that they want

in this business is strictly based on hustle

it's strictly based on being out work

is strictly based on missing crucial opportunities

I say all the time

if you stay ready you ain't got to get ready

California Is Burning Down And Trump Blames It On Environmental Laws - Duration: 3:39.

In case you weren't aware, the state of California right now is currently being ravaged by wildfires.

There are fires across the state.

Seven people so far, as of right this second, have lost their lives.

Buildings, homes have been destroyed.

Countless miles, square miles of forest have been destroyed.

And the President of the United States blames the whole damn thing on environmental loss.

This is what Donald Trump tweeted out on Sunday with regards to those wildfires in California.

"California wildfires are being magnified and made so much worse by the bad environmental

laws, which aren't allowing massive amount amount of readily available water to be properly

utilized.

It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean.

Must also tree clear to stop fire spreading."

So Donald Trump, instead of saying it's being made so much worse by, I don't know, climate

change, which is what all of the scientists are out there telling us right now, he says

it's because California's wasting water by letting it just go into the Pacific Ocean.

Now let's not forget that the state of California's actually still currently ina drought.

They never really got out of the massive drought that they were in many years ago were that

started many years ago.

It just eased up a bit for a while.

No, there's not enough water to go around to just be squirting it all over these fires,

that's why they got out of control.

There's no environmental laws preventing fire fighters from doing their jobs.

And most importantly, the answer isn't to just cut down more trees.

I mean, the logic there is, "Well you can't have a forest fire if you don't have a forest."

No.

That's not how this works.

You are the dumbest human being that has ever served in the Oval Office.

The reason we're having these wildfires, and we had some in Colorado about a week and a

half ago that nobody even talked about, is because of climate change.

Can we stop, can we just stop for a minute listening to idiot politicians about weather

phenomenon, about climate, and things like that and maybe instead focus on what the scientists

are telling us?

People like Michael Mann, who is out there every day trying to help educate the public

about what is happening in the world, what is happening to our country, what is happening

to this planet?

Can we put a little more faith in them, and their words, and their studies, and their

reports, and their works than we do these brainless politicians who are saying, "No,

it's because the environmental laws making al the water going into the Pacific Ocean."

That's not what's happening.

But it also shows us another thing, it shows us that Donald Trump, even after all the catastrophes

of 2017 still doesn't know how to respond to any kind of natural disaster when human

beings, American citizens, are losing their lives.

He is unfit to be president of the United States based on his responses to these disasters

alone.

You don't even have to look for the 25th amendment or into any of the investigations.

You want proof that Donald Trump is an illegitimate, unfit president?

Just look at how he's responded any time these climate related events have happened and American

citizens have lost their lives.

Castle Rock: Inside Episode 1 "Severance" • A Hulu Original - Duration: 3:58.

Right out of the gates, the show is presenting

a mystery to the audience.

We're watching a guy with a ski mask load a gun.

He's searching for something.

We reveal that he's Alan Pangborn, this iconic hero

from the Stephen King library.

There's a little boy standing on the ice.

Henry!

That inexplicable mystery launches one of the great

through lines of our season.

Just the question of what became of Henry Deaver

when he disappeared in 1991.

There is a piece of music that occupies a really important

space in the King universe, which is this slice

of "The Marriage of Figaro."

You don't fully know kind of who your main character is often,

until a little bit later.

And that's actually something Stephen

King does a lot in his books.

When we meet Terry Quinn, there's a natural tendency

to presume that we're going to be following

him throughout the series.

Except, obviously, he makes a fairly fateful decision.

Stephen King fans may notice that the radio station he's

listening to is the radio station

in Maine that is co-owned by Stephen King himself.

And of course, when you look at all of the spaces

that King has visited.

One sort of stands alone.

And that's Shawshank.

The questions and themes of crime and punishment and prison

that Stephen King has sort of returned

to again and again in his work were

at the forefront of our minds.

One thing that was interesting and exciting for us

was choosing a prison that felt like it was

really a part of a community.

To find a place that feels like it has history,

a place that feels like it's scarred by decades

and centuries of disaster.

We wound up shooting at a prison in West Virginia

that haunted us when we saw it.

Oh fuck!

Who are you?

He's never been processed.

How you'd get inside this prison?

Bill Skarsgard was perfect for this crucial role in the show.

The latest great star of a Stephen King juggernaut.

He was really committed to the idea

that he had to transform itself physically for this role.

Basically didn't eat a sandwich for eight months.

Bill did a ton of research about what his reactions

would be to light, to sound.

When you find yourself in a place like that tank for God

knows how long.

Young man, who are you?

What's your name?

Henry Deaver.

That's not Henry Deaver.

We find Henry in the most surreal setting

we could possibly find him in.

Staring into the jaws of this primordial reptile, which

suggests a guy who finds himself drawn, kind of inextricably,

toward monsters of one kind or another.

We love the name Doc's Lizard Bowl.

Originally that site was called Jungleland, named

after the Bruce Springsteen song,

which is the origin of both the title

and the epigraph to "The Stand."

A little Easter egg for fans that unfortunately

was yanked out of the show.

By the end of the first hour, we may have some questions,

as an audience, about whether the kid is an innocent victim

or whether he was locked away in that tank

for a very good reason.

And we'll be teasing out the sort of mystery of exactly who

he is, how he came to be locked away,

what his confinement meant, and what

his release might mean for the world of Castle Rock

and beyond.

Why You Might Want Someone Else's Poop Inside You - Duration: 5:12.

[ ♩ INTRO ♩ ]

Donating your blood or bone marrow could save someone's life.

So, too, could donating your poop.

And if you're among the 3% of prospective donors that makes the cut, you could be paid

$40 a pop—or a plop, I guess—to donate your feces.

It's not really the poop doctors are after, but the bacteria in it, so that they can perform

fecal microbiota transplants or FMTs.

Scientists are currently exploring how FMTs can help fight disease by altering the community

of microbes in a person's gut.

But early results suggest they could help with a surprising number of things, from infections

to autoimmune disorders.

If you want to donate your turds, you're going to have to talk to a stool bank, like

the one operated by the nonprofit OpenBiome.

And they do pay, if your poop can pass muster.

But they're super picky about their donations.

That's in part because there are a lot of infections that can be transferred from an

FMT, some of which can exist in a healthy person without causing symptoms.

So potential donors must have poop, blood, and nasal swabs tested for dozens of bacteria,

viruses and parasites both before and after they donate.

But the main reason is that scientists aren't sure exactly what can be transmitted via the

microbes in your poop.

And preliminary research says it could be… a lot.

Differences in the community of gut bacteria, or microbiome, have been linked to a remarkable

variety of diseases, though scientists don't know yet if those links are causal.

So, to be on the safe side, potential poop donors must be screened using a rigorous interview

process to ensure they're basically disease and disorder-free.

If all is clear, then you could be cleared to make several donations a week for a couple

months.

And from there, readying the transplants is pretty simple: just a quick filtering step

to remove any chunks before they're frozen and shipped out to clinicians.

The actual transplanting part can happen several different ways.

The most direct route is up the rectum with an enema or colonoscopy device, but sometimes

a nasoenteric tube is used instead.

That's a tube inserted through the nose that goes all the way down into the intestines.

The newest method, though, is to have the goods packaged into capsules that patients

can swallow like normal pills.

These are less invasive, and preliminary studies suggest they may still be as effective as

more traditional methods.

Which is great, because as scientists continue to connect microbiomes to disease conditions,

the potential for using FMTs as treatments increases exponentially.

Right now, the most common use is for treating Clostridium difficile infections.

Clostridium difficile – or C. diff – is a bacterial species that can exist in your

gut even when you're totally healthy.

The trouble comes from the fact that it's often resistant to antibiotics.

So if you take an antibiotic when you already have C diff, the drugs can knock out competing

bacteria, allowing it to take over.

And that's really bad because the bacteria produce a toxin that can cause severe diarrhea,

and in some cases, even lead to kidney failure or tears in your intestines.

These aren't small complications—the bug is associated with 29,000 deaths per year

in the US alone.

Luckily, FMT is amazing at treating it.

When antibiotics fail, an FMT is usually effective in about 90% of cases.

But curing C diff infections is likely just the beginning.

Some doctors think that many autoimmune diseases—conditions where the body basically attacks itself—may

be triggered or worsened by an imbalanced microbiome.

So getting a fresh batch of bacteria from someone with a healthy microbial community

could help re-balance things.

And that seems to be the case with ulcerative colitis—a painful autoimmune condition where

your bowels are prone to ulcers because they're basically always inflamed.

Though it wasn't a perfect cure, a meta-analysis of 16 small trials found that FMT induced

remission in about 30% of patients.

Other studies in animal models have suggested that FMTs may be useful in treating or preventing

all sorts of diseases, from Parkinson's disease, to obesity, or even colon cancer.

But… some doctors — and many patients — have been slow to accept FMT as a viable

treatment option.

And…

I get it.

It does have a pretty big ick factor, and even with rigorous testing, it's still possible

that a pathogen could be transferred from one person to another.

It would be great if we could just throw the right mix of microbes together to make a fake

fecal microbiome of sorts—but this is no easy task.

So far, scientists have identified over 2,000 species of microbes that live in our guts.

And for many, we're still not sure whether they're helpful or harmful or basically

neutral.

Luckily, doctors might not need to understand each and every species to create an artificial

transplant mix—they'd just need to find the ones necessary to fix a microbiome that's

out of whack.

And that's exactly what the team behind rePOOPulate — which is an absolutely perfect

name — are trying out.

Their stool substitute contains 33 species of bacteria which were originally cultured

from a healthy person's poop.

And although RePOOPulate hasn't been tested on humans yet, it did help protect mice against

C diff infection.

But, until it's run through a battery of safety and efficacy tests, FMTs will continue

to be done the old fashioned way.

And while that's a little gross, these transplants are worth further study, because the amazing

microbes in your poop could hold the key to treating diseases in disorders that have doctors

stumped.

Though — as with any experimental treatment — you definitely don't want to try this

one at home.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow!

If you want to learn more about your feces, you might like our episode on why your poop

Castle Rock: Inside Episode 2 "Habeas Corpus" • A Hulu Original - Duration: 3:07.

People think we're just one of those dead towns

they've heard about.

We know different, don't we?

I think what we really wanted to do with episode 2 was

to begin to explore the town.

The universe that Stephen created--

and the town that he's been writing about--

is one of the most important characters in this season

and in this story.

You get a little taste of the events of Cujo

and the curio shop and the Dead Zone.

The idea that the people who live in this town, those events

are just the everyday fabric of their life.

That's something that we hadn't really seen captured in Stephen

King adaptations before, that feeling

that it's sort of a town that's like an advent

calendar of disasters.

And any little window you open is going to be a vantage

onto somebody's worst day.

Well, we've been incredibly fortunate to be able to work

with Thomas Newman, the iconic composer of a few

of the great Stephen King adaptations

that we love, "The Shawshank Redemption"

and "The Green Mile".

To be able to bring Tom into this universe and have him

score these sequences with a full orchestra to bring

the same spirit that we have of this very,

very strange place of Castle Rock-- and who the people

are who have stayed there--

it's been a really amazing process to watch him work.

I think one of the things that really interested us was

this idea that there are people in this town who do

have a kind of deeper relationship to some

of the stuff that has happened.

Jackie Torrence?

All God's children.

I think she is described in her first appearance

as Tracy Flick meets Ed Gein.

That's Jane Levy.

It happened that Jane has some kind of macabre interest

and fixations herself and really connected

to Jackie on the page.

She's somebody who's kind of a little bit obsessed

with the past of Castle Rock.

You want the cover story or the real story?

She finds herself in this town, albeit after the sort

of bloodiest events in the town's history

seem to have passed.

So there are a few timelines that

are important to our story.

There are some subtle but interesting ways

of approaching those different timelines

visually in the storytelling.

Much of the storytelling in 1991 takes place in the winter.

But we also wound up shooting all of the 1991 material

on film, whereas the present story is all shot digitally.

Happy birthday, Henry.

Our DP, Richard Rutkowski, felt that even if the audience isn't

consciously aware of the distinctions in the way

that those two worlds and time frames are presented,

that it's something that you kind of feel

at a certain unconscious level.

Shania Twain Inspirational Video - The Beauty, Courage, and Grit of a Fighting Spirit - Duration: 10:10.

Hi, I'm Olivia, and today's Happy Nugget! comes from Shania Twain, the great Canadian

singer and songwriter.

Shania Twain has given us phenomenal hits like "Any Man of Mine," "That Don't

Impress Me Much," "Man, I Feel Like a Woman," "From This Moment On," and

"You're Still The One."

She has won five Grammys and sold over 100 million records worldwide.

Shania Twain is the best selling female artist in country music history.

Her third and incredible album "Come on Over," is the best selling album by a female

musician in any genre, and the best selling country album selling around 40 million copies.

I never get tired of listening to Shania Twain's music, it's so uplifting and beautiful.

I often listen to her fourth and fantastic album "Up" before I have to do something

big or important because it always helps me to get into that positive mindset.

From her wonderful and heartfelt autobiography, speaking of the success of her 2002 album

"Up," Shania Twain said, "The fact that the album was categorized in pop, pop rock.

and country pop was my dream: to be an international recording artist, recognized as an artist

not of any specific genre, but just appreciated as an artist by all lovers of music.

To not be confined meant more to me than the chart numbers, sales figures, and awards.

To me success was achieving what you set out to do.

I never had numbers in my head, but I had a vision of being heard by people of all walks

of life from all over the world."

Shania Twain was born Eileen Edwards in 1965 in Ontario.

When she was four years old her mother married her third husband and Eileen adopted the name

Twain.

Even as a child, Shania craved independence, but her childhood was a combination of a broken,

dysfunctional home where she witnessed extreme parental violence, and a dignified, self-reliant

home with parents who loved their children and were doing the best they could.

Unfortunately, their efforts often fell short and Shania's childhood was one of poverty,

often not getting enough to eat, moving from place to place because they couldn't pay

the bills.

By the time Shania finished high school she had attended seventeen different schools.

Shania took care of her three younger siblings, and often ran the household by herself when

her mother's bouts of depression were long and severe.

Shania Twain fell in love with music when she was three years old and from that moment

on, she never stopped singing.

She started writing songs when she was ten.

As a child Shania had big dreams of success, but to her that meant earning enough money

to eat, and live without suffering the humiliations of poverty.

In spite of her mother's depression and their difficulties making ends meet, Shania's

mother believed music was Shania's destiny, making extreme sacrifices to give her opportunities

to succeed.

Shania's success became her mother's dream, the thread of hope that kept her going.

From the age of eight Shania Twain started performing in local bars, clubs, contests,

telethons, music festivals, senior citizen homes, community centers and anywhere her

mother could get her booked.

She learned how to read music at a basic level from a few lessons and books.

Even that young, Shania Twain practiced and performed with maturity, dedication and professionalism

determined to do her best.

Music was Shania's passion, her comfort, her saving grace, her escape from her troubled

home life.

Tired of watching her mother get brutally beaten, in 1979 at the age of fourteen, Shania

packed up her siblings and convinced her mother to run away to a battered women's shelter

in Toronto.

When Shania was sixteen her mother went back to her father.

When she was seventeen her family started a reforestation business planting trees.

Shania was a crew boss in charge of twelve to thirteen grown men in a job that was harsh

in an environment that was unforgiving, spending months at a time isolated in the Canadian

wilderness.

At eighteen Shania Twain moved to Toronto to pursue a career in music.

For three years she spent hour after hour with her guitar writing songs, working odd

jobs, and singing in bar bands to survive, while going back to Northern Ontario five

months out of the year to work as a crew boss planting trees to save money.

In 1987 when Shania Twain was twenty-two years old, her parents were killed in a car crash.

Devastated, Shania was left with the unimaginable responsibility of how to provide for her three

younger siblings.

Unwilling to leave them or separate them, Shania Twain decided to quit music.

Then one day a friend told her of a resort with a Vegas style performance featuring singers.

Shania was reluctant, but after an impromptu audition she was offered the lead singing role

in the main show and enough money to support her siblings.

For three years, Shania struggled to raise her family and keep their lives together.

When Shania Twain was twenty-five years old she began writing her own songs again.

A a stellar performance for a music business lawyer led to the signing of her first international

record contract.

Shania Twain's first record was a product of an industry that can be often homogenized, churning out

records and artists like objects in an assembly line, but Shania Twain was determined to be

herself, patiently waiting for an opportunity when she could write her own songs.

For her second record, Shania took a risk, writing and co-writing songs with a famous

rock producer without telling the record company until the songs were ready.

It was unorthodox, but it paid off.

Shania Twain's second phenomenal record, "The Woman in Me," was a smash hit, launching

Shania Twain's successful career.

Again from her autobiography, speaking of "The Woman in Me," Shania Twain said,

"I was so in sync…not to necessarily make a genre-specific record, but to make a great

record, period.

Our idea was to create something unique, unlike anything else; something that would stand

the test of time, groundbreaking music the listeners would turn their heads to when they

heard it for the first time…The personal conviction it took to stand behind your own

creative ideas took guts.

I felt protected as an artist that my producer was going to make sure my record was the best

it could be before anyone else got his hands on it.

It was only when we were in the final stage of mixing the tracks that we invited department

heads from the label…I do remember…that the reaction was mixed.

Mostly that it wasn't country enough or at least not familiar enough to what they

were used to hearing.

But even those who had reservations about the music acknowledged that we had achieved

something new, different.

In fact, that's the trouble some of them had with it: it sounded too different.

That's all we needed to hear.

We didn't need approval in regards to the standard of the record we had.

I already had total confidence in…the producer, he had the same confidence in me as the artist,

and we both believed in the songs."

For the next fourteen years, Shania Twain did not stop for a second, releasing hit after

hit to incredible personal sacrifice to keep promoting her music.

For Eileen Twain, the small-town girl from Northern Ontario songs were the fingerprints

of individual souls to help her cope with her life and to imagine a world beyond it.

To us she became Shania Twain, one of the biggest music icons in the world, giving us

in her music the beauty and the fighting spirit of her soul.

Sometimes people are like new ice covering a lake, thin and brittle, cracking under the

slightest pressure, sinking under the weight of their own fears.

Sometimes they're strong like several inches of thick ice, able to withstand anything that

comes at them.

Shania Twain is a fighter, as tough as the toughest Canadian winter, but her real toughness

comes from allowing herself to be vulnerable.

In spite of the many difficult trials she has faced, Shania Twain never closed her heart

up to love, embracing and learning from the experiences that have shaped her life.

If you close yourself up to pain, you also miss out on the pleasures of life.

Courage comes in many forms, and in order to take the reigns of your life and feel a

joy that comes deep from within your heart you have to allow yourself to be vulnerable,

to love and to be loved.

And that's today's Happy Nugget!

If you enjoyed this video please like it, share it, and subscribe.

As always, I link below the video anything I recommend.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

The Shale Scow - Dive #1 (2018 Season) - Duration: 5:54.

Today, we're diving on the wreck of the Shale Scow.

This wreck lies in 12 to 15 feet of water about 3/4 mile SW of the Elk Rapids Harbor.

Before I show you the dive, I must first cover access.

This dive is boat only in practice since the nearest public beach is over half a mile away.

The coordinates can be seen on screen or in the description.

In theory, the wreck could be accessed from shore since it's only 350 yards away which is comparable to the Yuba Wreck.

I made a video on that one last year, and I'll just briefly mention it's five miles to the south for those who haven't seen it.

However, one would have to know the owner of a nearby property in order to do the shore dive.

With that out of the way, let's get to the dive.

Now that you've seen some of the wreck, I'll take this opportunity to mention some history.

The Shale Scow sank in 1903 carrying a cargo of - you guessed it - shale.

This scow is around 80 feet long and about 20 feet wide.

By the way, its original name remains a mystery as of 2018.

[Music Only]

By the way, I should mention that there is a lot of debris near the wreck.

This debris confused us at the beginning of the dive since we anchored the boat a little north of the wreck where a lot of it can be found.

Personally, I recommend you anchor directly on top of the wreck if that is possible.

[Music Only]

If you have been watching this video closely, you might realize we were not wearing wetsuits.

I strongly recommend you do so because I was quite cold after just forty minutes in the water, despite it being the middle of summer.

I think most people would find this water to be worse than I did since I'm accustomed to the colder water.

14 THINGS YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE BACK TO SCHOOL - Duration: 8:36.

Was that the right amount of claps

I should probably redo that

Hey it's Lina and today I'm gonna be telling you things that you need to do before back to school or things that you should do

I don't go back till the first week of September, but I know a lot if you go back mid-august

So that's why I'm doing this

Now before we get started do the all things the likes, and the subscribes and the Bell

Notifications and let's go ahead and get into it

The first thing that you need to do is fix your sleep schedule, oh my goodness

I don't know about you guys, but during the summer I'll go to bed at like

two

Three ,sometimes four in the morning and I'll wake up super late or

I'll go to bed at 11:00 or midnight and wake up super early and I won't be able to fall back asleep

The whole thing is just a huge mess

So try and give yourself some time to fix that maybe a couple days or a week where you're going to bed an hour earlier

Each day and trying to wake up at the same time that you would have to for

School so that your body has some time to adjust and it's not just a very sudden thing

I'm personally gonna be

Making a video on fixing my own sleep schedule when I get back from Puerto Rico and this is me telling you that this video

Is actually been scheduled so I'm in Puerto Rico while this is being posted

So if I don't get back to your comments

It's because I'm busy or I don't have access to Wi-Fi or whatever and hit your bell

Notifications if you do want to see that fix your sleep schedule video or fix my sleep schedule

Video and let's move on to the next thing

The second thing that you need to do is organize the hell out of your room during the school year

You're not gonna have as much time to do this

So do all the deep cleaning things that you usually wouldn't do

Clean out underneath your bed and sort out your desk space get rid of old notes

Try out every single pen and get rid of the ones that don't work anymore things like that

So that during the school year you'll have a nice organized clean space to work with

Along the same kind of organizational lines is organizing your closet. So look through all your clothing items

See if there's anything that you want to donate or sell also

If you live in a place with seasons

I know I will usually move all my summer stuff up to higher shelvings because I can't reach them and I'll usually just

Put the things that I will wear in more accessible areas

So do that so that all of your outfits are good and ready to go

also about your closet try and pick up some outfits that you would want to wear in the first week of school or so because

We all know that's when we actually try and put effort into looking good and then things fall apart

But at least this way you won't be scrambling during the morning the first week of school

The next thing that you need to do is set some goals for the school year and I know this is pretty cheesy and

most of our goals fall apart throughout the school year

But at least this will you'll be applying yourself towards something. Even if it's just for the first few months

Hopefully it lasts the whole year I know for myself

I'm gonna try it and get on the Dean's List this year and maybe try and join some clubs that I said

I would always join but never joined. So just set some goals for the school year. It'll be a good thing to do

This next thing is not as important or productive as all the other ones

But honestly now it's the time when you can have a movie marathon or binge watch a TV series

So you might as well watch that movie

You've said you've always wanted to watch or binge watch the TV show that everyone was talking about and if you want a Netflix recomendations

for me, let me know in the comments down below and maybe I'll make a video about that but not

Another thing is doing some meal planning

So, you know

You're not eating the same thing every single day and that you have somewhat of a balanced diet if you're in high school

You might as well look up some easy lunches to make before school starts so you can bring your lunch with you and you don't

Have to eat some nasty cafeteria food or hopefully your cafeteria food is good. Autumn

Oh, I'm gonna be living on campus

So I know I will definitely be trying out some new recipes or hopefully I make myself try out some new easy recipes to make

Because otherwise, I'm gonna be living off of pasta

This one is pretty basic but honestly getting some new school supplies can be really exciting so get some pretty notebooks a pretty planner

So you can write your homework out get some new stationery new pens, whatever that motivates you for the school year

Another thing you need to do is get on that skin cure again

Because you've been out in the Sun and your skin's not having so much fun. Oh

my gosh

during the summer we're out and about tanning and where you lost sunblock and

Going in the ocean and soap water and you know all that stuff

So you might as well spend some time trying to get it back go and hydrate it

Clean it exfoliate it do all the things that you need to do to get that skin back on track

This is one that I'm really looking forward to and that is getting some summer pictures printed or developing filled pictures

Honestly, there is something so much more special about printed pictures as opposed to just digital copies on your phone

I think there's something magical about photo albums

I know this is really cheesy, but I think it's so much cooler

and

If you're not that kind of person maybe it's just like putting pictures up and around your room or if you're going to college hang

Them up in your dorm. I think it's a really cool thing to do and to have those memories printed out

Another thing you have to do is finish all of your summer homework

Assignments or summer reading that you have to do before school starts

I don't have any for my classes this upcoming term, but I did last year you might as well. Just get it done

So you're not already behind before school even starts?

This one is mostly for college university students and that is selling your old textbooks because

Textbooks can be freaking expensive and selling the old ones that you're not using anymore will be really helpful in buying the new ones

I am saying this as a college

University thing because my

Understanding is that high school students get their textbooks handed to them and then they hand them back at the end of the school year

But if that's not the case with your high school

Then you might as well also sell your textbooks to younger grades to make some money

Also downloading some new music for the school year can be really exciting especially if you're a commuter and you drive or bus or

Walk to school or take a scooter or a racer schooler to school

It's gonna be great to have some good tools to listen to on the way if you want some song

recommendations I have

To drive with me videos out with my playlist so you can check out some of the songs that I listen to there

This is one that I think you really really need to do and that is taking the time to sit down and write a

Reasonable monthly budget so you know how much money you can be spending every month. This is mostly for

University college students

but seriously

sit down and budget how much money you can spend on food and gas and going out with friends and

recreational activities all that stuff so you don't go over budget and you're not spending more money than you need to because honestly

University is already pretty freaking expensive

So if you can make it easier on yourself by sticking to a budget, that'd be a really great thing to do

And

Last but not least enjoy the last days of summer. I know it sounds pretty broad

But seriously do all the things you said you wanted to do this summer

But didn't end up doing

One of the things that you did do and you want to do again go paddleboarding go kayaking, go swimming in the lake, go camping

skateboarding, eat ice cream

What are the summer things?

do all the summer things and spend some time with friends from different high schools or friends that go to university across the country because

You won't see them for a couple months

I don't know just spend

the last days of summer doing whatever you want to do because we'll be back in school pretty soon and you won't be able to

Do those things that is it for this video comment down below when you go back to school and hit the like button and subscribe

And hit that Bell notifications and I will catch you in my next video

Here's What I Think About Buying a Honda Civic and More - Duration: 3:29.

rev up your engines, Amer says, Scotty which car is

good as the first car, a Honda Civic 2016 or a Toyota FJ cruiser 2012, which is good

and why, okay this may shock people, but I tell you to buy the Honda Civic vs. the

Toyota and that choice, because the Honda Civic is well made cars, 2016 and

certainly is relatively new, it's gonna get fantastic gas mileage and they can

last a really long time, the FJ Cruiser is a very good vehicle but they stopped

making them, and one of the reasons I believe Toyota stop making them is, because

their gas hogs, those are high up in the air

they got a big v6 engine in them and they get horrible gas mileage, you're

gonna get so much better gas mileage in a Civic than the cruiser, they will both

last, but also check in on your insurance rates, you're gonna find the

insurance rates for that Civic is going to be so much lower than that FJ

cruising and if you find you're a younger driver were your rates are high with

that Civic you're gonna save a ton of money on insurance too and it's still a

very good car, but they're really completely different cars, you're talking

about a little bit car for driving around or a big SUV, so you got to decide

what you want to get first, Elton says, Scotty what do you think about the

new SUVs Jeep Cherokee, do you think they're worth the money I mean they're

carrying a named Cherokee but not meant for those that are Cherokees the Indians, a

little humor there, okay I would never buy anything that

Chrysler makes anymore period, since fiat bought them, they always had problems to

begin with, my grandfather was a mechanic before me and he didn't like Chrysler's

back in those days, and I never really liked them but when Fiat bought them

their quality has gone even further downhill, I mean it might have been a big

mistake for Fiat to buy them, because I read recently that Fiat is even thinking about

leaving the United States with Fiats pulling the Fiats out, because

they have such horrible sales, because their such horrible cars, that hardly

anybody's buying the Fiats and that they'll keep the Chrysler brand, but

they'll drop trying to sell Fiats because it's such horrible sales and the

new ones, hey the quality is just lower there's no, if, ands or buts about it, you

know I had customers with Cherokees from decades ago and they could be

pretty bulletproof machines with straight 6 cylinder engines but

even before Fiat bought them, they put a lot of Technology computers in and they had

nothing but problems with those electronics, especially the transmissions

which were weak, I would never buy one of those,

Martha Jackson says, I had no trouble codes or check engine light, but the

transmission seems to be slipping in my vehicles, was wondering if could be a solenoid or a

sensor, well it could be a whole bunch of stuff, a lot of times it's just the

transmission is wearing out and you need to buy another one when they slip

unfortunately, but as I said earlier, you find a guy like me that has a dealer

level scan tool, we plug it in, then we take it for a road test, and then when it

slips, our machine is very sophisticated, it records 45 seconds at a time, so once

it slips, we just push stop, then it saves that data, we look at that data, then we

analyze it, and you want to pray that it's a solenoid or something and not

that it needs an overhaul, but unfortunately most of the time when

they're slipping, either you're low on fluid and you need fluid, or they're worn

out internally and they need some serious expensive work, so if you never

want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring that

Bell!

Tyga x Offset Taste Official Video Reaction - Duration: 5:36.

Tyga flexes in a white convertible and by the pool with a flock of women to show off his luxurious taste for the song "Taste," featuring Offset. He refers to himself as the "black JB," making an illustrious comparison to teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber in the way he attracts girls, but Tyga's cultivated success extends to more than women. He also nicknames himself "Mr. 'What Kind of Car You In" while riding through Beverly Hills in a white Mercedes-Benz convertible, and Offset lists off some whips (Maybach, Wraith, 'Rari), while the "Rack City" rapper brags about the ice he rocks "for the whole team." He enlists his own team of rapper friends, exclusively shouting out to Oakland-based rapper A.E. and enlisting his Bay Area slang term "yadadamean."

What "Follow the Funnel then Model the Process" REALLY Means with Phyllis Khare - Duration: 4:34.

welcome to episode 12059 or Episode 8 if you're keeping count

no just feels like eight - it's only episode six! -- the next time you're on

Facebook instead of just mindlessly scrolling and through the videos and

images see what makes you stop - what makes you stop scrolling - is it the

person who posted it - is it the words they're using - is it the image - is it the

video - is it the promise of a laugh - what is it that makes you stop scrolling

notice your own behavior - if you start noticing your own behavior you start to

be more self aware of what's going on around you and you can be more in

control of it -- this sort of goes with my last video last week where I talked

about being self-aware as one of the best things you can do to get through a

hard time or hesitation in your business so this video is sponsored by my school

Social Media Manager School - I've run this with Andrea Vahl and we've been

doing it for over six years which is a lifetime and internet time and we have a

bunch of case studies of so many wonderful people from different parts of

the world who have done amazing things by creating a business for themselves as

social media managers or consultants - so that's the offer for today - you'll find

the link somewhere around here... once when I was teaching a workshop in Barbados I

said the phrase "Follow the funnel and model the process" and my business

partner who was there with me Andrea said - oh that one's nice and then a

couple of weeks later I got a t-shirt with it on the t-shirt - and it was such a

wonderful gesture now I can walk around with that all the time

if you find someone doing something that seems successful then the natural

tendency is to model it - I don't want you to copy - I don't want you to steal - I want

you to model it and that means you make it your own

eventually but you look at the underlying architecture and see if it's

something that you can recreate in your own business - I do consider following the

funnel and modeling the process only really the first step in this process

now to keep everyone on the same page what I mean with this and what I mean by

funnel is every time you give somebody your email address you're in their

funnel - every time you like or watch a video you are in their funnel - you are

hovering above that purchase button yes no yes no yes no and you're trying to

decide should I buy the Premium or should I buy the Platinum - knowingly or

unknowingly you are in a funnel - now it's time to wake up and use this process for

yourself - I think it's really important to explore what other people are doing

watch how they lead you on to something see what makes you click what motivates

you to click through to see something what makes you want to read more about

it what makes you buy - what are the words they are using to make you buy all of

these things are really important be a student of how someone else is doing it

and you will learn so much that you can put into your own business

wake up be aware see what other people are doing - so next week I'm back in the

studio talking about e-commerce... ... I did it again -- so next week I'm back

in the studio talking about e-commerce if that's your thing

I'm really enjoying it and I have some more things I want to talk to you about

rant about - explore - show you some cool stuff so in the meantime make sure you

go check out those case studies the link is somewhere and also Like Comment Share

it's okay it's safe it's alright and guess what you're not in my funnel :-)

so anyway I appreciate that you share this with your friends -- alright people

back to work
