- Hey, guys this is Garf and today
I'm going to show you how to make
a fresh and easy human pot pie.
First you're gonna wanna take a pie tin.
And I use about 500 potatoes,
300 carrots,
about a 1000 peas,
10 pounds of salt,
10 pounds of pepper,
and of course, your protein...
(humans screaming)
about five or six fresh humans.
I found that using fresh meat makes all the difference.
There's really no contest between
frozen humans and these bad boys.
These little guys came from southern California,
I climbed down from the clouds
and ripped the roof off an office building,
and look how fresh they are!
Almost constant futile attempts to escape.
(inspirational, uplifting music)
For the best flavor, you wanna
keep these puny mortals alive.
Go ahead and round a little bit--
Oops, don't be discouraged if
they lose an arm or leg or two,
it's totally fine.
Now let's put it all together,
(laughs)
It is just that easy!
- Don't worry everyone, I got this.
- Again, you probably want them alive
at this point, but if any of them
give you any extra trouble, just--
this is a little gross,
squeeze them until they die.
(humans scream in agony)
If you lost any arms or legs earlier,
just throw them in now.
It'll be fine.
(humans scream for mercy)
Now just place it near a volcano,
and wait about 40 minutes.
And look at that.
It's beautiful!
Notice how putting them in alive
creates these sort of frozen in time
horrified looks on the crust.
Exquisite.
And that's it.
Just a few easy steps and you'll have
your own human pot pie in no time.
It's just that easy.

Dane Cook Talks Anxiety, Steve Martin, and Timing - Duration: 1:50.
And I had I had
social anxiety I had
panic disorders walking to
school everyday thinking about
being, being
in front of people.
And and you go into comedy when
you're up in front of people.
I was when I
would be in characters
at home I would always do like
skits and I grew up loving
Saturday Night Live. I loved
SCTV,
pretty much any kind of sketch
improv comedy
when I was in character I felt
confident. I felt brave.
And so I told my family when I
was 15 I said I'm going to
give standup comedy a try.
I have a really good feeling
about it and of course they
were like, really? That's
young man 15.
Oh yeah. No,
my sister Kelly saw Steve
Martin at Madison Square Garden
and she came home and
told me you know when I was 14,
15 and said I just
can't believe what I saw and
described seeing Steve Martin
and I said to my sister Kelly
that night, "I'm going to play
Madison Square Garden.
You're going to come see me
play Madison Square Garden
because I'm going to be a stand
up comedian."
And did it feel different? I
know you suffer from this
social anxiety and panic
disorder and when you finally
started doing comedy
did you find you felt better?
I did because then I started to
take the things that
I'd learned and the tools from
on stage and kind of implement
them into my life,
you know? Life is about timing.
You can't let the girl go
unless you're on the beat on
the pulse.
And in just using humor
to get me in and out of
situations that previously I
didn't have the faith
in myself that I had something
to say.
I couldn't look people in the
eyes. I was really a true
introvert.
But standup taught me how to
react and behave off stage

Bertha, can you send in my 2 o'clock please?
Mr. Thornton, hi.
How can I help?
I'd like to sue Coffee Hat please.
Of course.
Tell me what happened.
Okay, so I went into Coffee Hat, I ordered some coffee.
The lady behind the counter asks for my hat, so I give it to her, like I always do.
You following?
She takes my hat, pours a pot of coffee on it, evenly on both sides, because that's
the Coffee Hat way.
And that's when she burned you?
No.
She humiliated you?
Or...
No.
You want them to pay for cleaning?
No, they do the cleaning.
Listen.
She took it, you following me?
She took my hat, she poured coffee on it, both sides even.
Brings it in the back for cleaning, takes about seventy-five minutes, just like I like.
It's the Coffee Hat experience and I love it.
Okay, what are we suing them for here?
Because this time it was perfect.
And after perfect, how are you supposed to enjoy anything ever again?
Exactly!
Exactly, so you'll take my case?
Yes.
I think your on to something, something big.
I'll take your case.
Here's my card.
I'm going to go check out Hat for myself
This is my favourite hat.
Well, have a good time.
Sounds like I will.
Maybe too good of a time.
Totally.
Coffee too good In the meantime, why don't you go over the
notes from these other cases that have nothing to do with yours.
I have a feeling that it's not going to help.
Okay.
Oh yeah that's not going to help...
No.
Hmmm.
Yeah this feels like its going to be a waste of an afternoon.

With the Wisdom of God, You Can Do Anything! with Kenneth & Gloria Copeland (Air Date 12-26-16) - Duration: 21:01.
TERRI CRIDER: I had called Brother Copeland, and he said,
"You march into that room, and you tell that man he's not going
anywhere. I need him, and the body of Christ needs him, and to
get back in his body." (Singing) I know my God has made the way
for me. I know my God has made the way for me.
KENNETH: Hello, everybody. We're Kenneth and
Gloria Copeland. Welcome to the Believer's Voice of
Victory broadcast. Let's have a word of prayer. Father,
we thank You today for Your Word. We thank You
in the name of Jesus that You are our God. GLORIA: Yes,
Lord. KENNETH: Thank You, Jesus. We praise You and thank You. And
today, Father, we lean not to our own understanding, but we
trust in You with all of our hearts. We receive Your wisdom,
we receive Your understanding today. In the name of Jesus--
GLORIA: Thank You. KENNETH: --we pray. Amen. GLORIA: Amen.
KENNETH: Hallelujah. Gloria? GLORIA: Yes, sir. KENNETH: We've
got the best partners of any ministry in the whole world.
GLORIA: Well, that's for sure. KENNETH: You know that? GLORIA:
I know. KENNETH: We've known that all these years. (Laughs)
Praise God. GLORIA: We're blessed. KENNETH: Amen. We love
and appreciate--we love and appreciate you, praise God. This
week, we're sharing partner testimonies. GLORIA: Oh, that'll
be good. KENNETH: It's good to testify of the good things God
has done. Now, testimonies don't usually bring faith. "Faith
cometh by hearing, hearing by the Word of God." But
testimonies give you capacity for faith. You hear what's
happened to somebody else, and it excites you. GLORIA: It
inspires. They inspire you. KENNETH: And on the inside, you
just get bigger. Ha-ha-ha-ha. GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH:
Praise God. So we want--and particularly this one. Oh, my.
Our dear friends and partners, Alan and Terri Crider. We've
known them for years. GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH: We were directly
involved in this--in this miracle, and we want you to
watch this. This is good. ALAN CRIDER: Listen, I got--I'm a
little dizzy right now. MALE: Well, sit down and say this.
ALAN: And I'm going to show you a demonstration of faithfulness
here in a minute. God's with me. NARRATOR: While delivering the
Resurrection Sunday message to his church, Pastor Alan Crider
had a stroke. Following a successful surgery to repair the
brain bleed, he suffered another stroke, this one worse than the
first. He was given no hope of recovery. TERRI CRIDER: I had
no--no fear. I had no emotion. I--it was like I was in a
cocoon. I couldn't have explained it to you. I
was--there was a strength. It was just supernatural. ALAN: I
heard Kenneth's voice, that he talked to me. And he said, "Alan
Crider--" KENNETH: "Alan Crider, your faith has made you whole."
TERRI: I had called Brother Copeland, and he said, "You
march into that room, and you tell that man he's not going
anywhere. I need him, and the Body of Christ needs him, and to
get back in his body. But, I mean, if you looked at his body
and you looked at the signs and you looked at the MRIs and, you
know, it was a no-go. Well, you can receive that or not. For
three days, we waited. ALAN: I seen the Lord. He said, "You
cannot stay. They're calling you back." TERRI: They called us to
the door. But the little nurse was grinning. I said, "He's--he
woke up." And she said, "Yes, he did." NARRATOR: Every day of the
next 45 was a constant fight for Alan's life. He received a
tracheotomy and a feeding tube. Hemorrhaging caused by hospital
negligence and an allergic reaction to medication nearly
killed him. TERRI: It was overwhelming the support, the
support of the Copelands, the support of the ministries, the
support of covenant friends. His room looked like a kindergarten
room because everybody who sent us a Scripture, we would write
it on a poster. And he had post boards all over his room with
Scripture, because I didn't--I wanted him, when he opened his
eyes, to see the Word of the living God, because the Word is
life and health to his flesh. We had the Word going in his room
24/7. We'd go in there, and--and if the nurse had turned it off,
we'd say, "You leave this Word on all the time." NARRATOR:
Through favor with the neurosurgeon, Alan was accepted
and transferred into a rehab hospital. However, with no
insurance and the hospital and surgery bills already mounting,
the Criders were required to pay $6,000 a week up front in cash.
TERRI: I want you to know, my God, through the Body of Christ,
provided every single day. NARRATOR: After a total of 90
days in hospitals, Alan Crider was released to go home. TERRI:
Brother Copeland said, "You need to come to Southwest," which
that was going to be a challenge because he was in a wheelchair.
He couldn't walk, he couldn't dress himself, he couldn't bathe
himself. So his precious armor bearer came with us and helped
me. And we came. ALAN: I experienced the working of
miracles and the gift of healing for the first time in a long
time. And I knew I had it. TERRI: And within three months
of being here, in 2010 at the Southwest, he was back in the
pulpit. And he may have had some help, but he preached. And each
week, it got stronger and stronger and stronger. I knew,
as I walked through this, I had to have His Word in order to
walk this whole thing out. ALAN: I always get a word. TERRI:
Always. ALAN: And it keeps me moving. And I go from faith to
faith. NARRATOR: Alan has progressed from a wheelchair to
walking competently on his own. His voice and dexterity continue
to improve. TERRI: When we faced what we faced six years ago,
where would I have been had I not been taught how to walk by
faith and not by sight? That's all I do, is I watch the Word.
When I go to bed, I put my earphones in, and I listen to
the Word, because the Word's my life, the Word's my strength,
the Word's my hope. It's my everything. And I don't know how
people live without it. These two won't take anything less
than wholeness, soundness, nothing missing, nothing broken.
ALAN: Stay tuned. (Both Laugh) TERRI: We're not done yet.
KENNETH: Stay tuned. (Laughs) GLORIA: Isn't that great?
KENNETH: Glory. Hey, we were right in the middle of that--
GLORIA: Yes, we were. KENNETH: --all the time. Now, I want to
point out something. This is the reason for BVOVN Network.
GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: Total immersion. Terri Crider, she
didn't take off time and watch a little television out in the
waiting room of the hospital or--or nothing like that.
Nothing but the Word. 100 percent Bible, 100 percent Word
all the time, total immersion. You and I learned this back
there 50 years ago-- GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: --when we first
got into this. When I first--when we heard our first
Kenneth Hagin tape, both of us were essentially scriptural
illiterates. We didn't know anything. We'd just read the
Bible. We didn't know anything about it much. January,
February, March, April, May, total immersion in the Word of
God. We didn't look at anything else. We didn't read anything
else. There wasn't anything else in our house. In five months, we
were ready to move out in this ministry. It was that powerful.
I had found out some years earlier that the government had
a total immersion language school. And I always wanted to
go to that because in four to six weeks, you can be
conversationally fluent in another language. I always
wanted to do that. And--because--because I wanted
to learn the Spanish language so bad. And I thought, "Hey, it'll
work with this." And it works. That's the way it's designed to
work, the Word of God. So, that worked here, it works there,
it'll work anywhere anybody will work it, because it is the
Word-- GLORIA: Amen. KENNETH: --of the living God. GLORIA:
Glory to God. KENNETH: And in the beginning, Alan couldn't
even talk straight. You couldn't understand a word he said.
He--he could--things just didn't work right. But he just kept
talking anyway. He kept preaching anyway. They kept the
Word of God coming into him night and day anyway. He just
kept on, kept on, kept on, kept on, wouldn't quit. He's still
doing it. When he first started attempting to text me on his
phone, man, he'd get all jumbled up, but he just stayed at it and
finally got his thumbs or fingers or whatever he uses to
text, he got it working. GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: And now his
texts come through just plain and clear. Well, see, that's the
Word at work. GLORIA: That's right. That's right. KENNETH:
"This is the victory that overcometh the world--"
TOGETHER: "--even our faith." KENNETH: There is nothing in the
world order, sickness, diseases, I don't care what it is. There
is nothing in this world order that faith in God won't
overcome. Ha-ha-ha! GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: And I'm
thrilled about it. Glory to God! GLORIA: Amen. KENNETH: Gloria,
isn't that good? GLORIA: It's awesome. KENNETH: Oh, that's
wonderful. Praise God. GLORIA: It's supernatural. Glory to God.
KENNETH: Amen. Sherri Sharpe. Let's watch this.
SHERRI: My name is Sherri Sharpe, and
I live in Queens, New York. Back in the '80s, when
I was a member of Redeeming Love Christian Center
in Nanuet, New York, Brother Copeland was one of the
speakers. I began to watch their Believer's Voice of Victory
program on television, and it was as a result of watching the
Believer's Voice of Victory that the Lord put in my heart that He
wanted me to--to partner with Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
Back in around March or April of 2015, I began to notice, as I
was walking, especially if I was--if I had my knapsack on my
back full of books, I started to notice slight sensations in my
chest area. And, of course, being very--having a lot of
faith for divine healing, I just began to quote healing
Scriptures and pretty much assumed that I could just deal
with the situation through faith. However, I noticed that
the chest pains, instead of going away, began to increase
and become more severe. And when I tried to jog, I could only go
for about five minutes, and the pain would be so severe I would
have to stop jogging and change to a walk. So I actually
told--told my doctor that I wanted to have a stress test and
an echocardiogram. I had those procedures done, and I ended up
failing the--those tests, the stress tests, and was diagnosed
with a condition called coronary artery disease. What it is, it's
a blockage in the coronary arteries that block the proper
amount of oxygen from getting to the heart, and that's what
causes the weakness. Through prayer and seeking the Lord, I
felt very strong in my heart that God was saying to me that
if I would come to the Southwest Believers' Conventions 2015,
there I would receive my healing. And after seeking the
Lord long enough to feel that this was definitely coming from
the Lord, and it wasn't just something in--in my own head, I
realized that I had a choice either to go the route of faith
and trust in God and what He had put in my heart, or to go the
way of the flesh or the way of sight, walking by sight. So I
made the choice, I'm going to trust God, and I'm going to come
to the Believers' Convention, and I'm--and I'm going to
believe that God is going to heal me. Before you add
corresponding actions to your faith, you must take the time to
seek the Lord and find out what He wants you to do, because if I
had felt the Lord saying to me, "I want you to take the
medication," I would have done that, and it still would have
been God's divine healing. But when we take the time to pray
and seek what God wants us to do in this situation, then our
faith has a--has an anchor. So I came to the Southwest Believers'
Convention 2015 thinking that sometime during that week I
would receive my healing. But God had a surprise for me. That
Sunday, I attended EMIC, Eagle Mountain International Church.
After the service, Pastor George called people up to the front
who wanted to receive healing. As I was walking through his
healing line, I fell out under the power. I did not experience
a miraculous healing where automatically the pain went
away. So I continued to confess those healing Scriptures every
day, at least once a day. Over the coming weeks, and I'd say
over about the following two months, the chest pains began to
subside, to get less and less and less. And I was
noting--noticing that I could begin to walk more with less
pain. And finally, I realized that there was no more chest
pains at all and I could walk. I could walk briskly. And
eventually, after a few months, I even resumed my jogging. As a
result of being able to jog for the full 30 minutes with
absolutely no pain, I came to the conclusion that I had
received my complete, total healing. So, I had a cardio
catheterization, which is a procedure where they--the
doctors, they go in and they're able to see if there's any
blockages in the coronary arteries. And the doctor cleared
me. And I must say this, that it's my partnership with Kenneth
Copeland Ministries, along with my partnership with
Kenneth Hagin Ministries, that cause me to have
faith, strong faith for divine healing.
KENNETH: Now, isn't that--isn't that exciting?
GLORIA: It is. KENNETH: That is-- GLORIA: God bless her.
KENNETH: --a classic example of standing on the Word of God,
standing on the Word of faith. And I want to--I want to take a
few minutes here. Sherri said something that is vitally
important. We are not opposed to medical science. They're
fighting the same devil as we are, glory to God, and
particularly strong Christian doctors. I'll tell you what,
thank God for them. Now, she pointed out something here. You
don't just--you don't just make up your mind, "Well, I'm just
going to believe God." That's a good way to die. Now, you go
before the Lord, and you inquire of Him. See, the--the Bible
says, "Wisdom is the principal thing," Proverbs 4:7. Any man
that comes into a test, temptation, or trial, "count it
all joy." And "Any man that lacks wisdom--" Wisdom of who?
Wisdom of the test, temptation, and trial. That's James 1. So
you inquire of the Lord. He gives liberally his wisdom to
all men. "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering."
GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: Amen. So that's what Sherri did. She
went before the Lord. She inquired of Him. If the Lord had
said, "I want you to--I want you to go have surgery, I want
you--" You know, whatever the doctors say, then that's what
she should have done. And, Jesus appeared to Kenneth Hagin--you
notice she's a partner of Brother Hagin's ministry--and
appeared to him and said, "When people get on their level, and
if they go to the--go into surgery or something, pray--"
Give--Jesus said, "Give me an open door. Pray that they're a
witness. Pray that they heal faster than anybody the doctors
have ever seen." And we've done that, praise God, and we've seen
every kind of miracle you can think of. That's what happened
to Alan and Terri Crider. They were inside the hospital. They
were being operated on. But the doctors were saying, "Why is
this? How do you do that?" Can you see the difference between
the two? I think this is just magnificent to show these two
together. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: And you go--don't ever attempt
to do anything without the wisdom of God. Don't attempt to
do it without the promises of God in His Word. Don't pray
prayers that are not based on His living promises and the Word
that's in this Book. GLORIA: Amen. KENNETH: Amen. That is
essential information. Don't do it. Hear what I'm telling you?
Don't do it. Now, when you've got an emergency that something
just jumps in front of you, you just cry out to God. "My God,
hallelujah! I believe I receive my deliverance in this! The
victory is ours! Glory be to Jesus that always gives us the
victory, always causes us to triumph!" Yes. That's the reason
you need the Word stored away in your heart all the time, so
that's the first thing that jumps out of your mouth. But in
a situation like this, you notice-- GLORIA: That's called a
quick draw. KENNETH: Yeah, it is. Amen. And--but I'm going to
tell you, if it isn't in there, it ain't going to come out. Now,
that's--that's another part of all this. But I want to--I want
to reiterate this again. Hands were laid on her. "Well, why
didn't that work?" What's the matter with you? It did work. It
did work. "Well, she wasn't healed." Yes, she was. That she
released her faith the moment that Pastor George laid his
hands on her, she released her faith right then, and she never
turned loose. She was right where God told her to be. And on
that day, she released her faith. Glory to God. That's the
way this works, see? And as she--that's Mark 11:23, 24, and
25. GLORIA: "Believe you receive--" TOGETHER: "--when you
pray." KENNETH: And she did. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: So what
did she do? She added corresponding action. She began
to walk, but always confessing, "Thank God I'm healed by His
stripes," always believing God. Never--never, ever, ever, ever,
ever say, "God didn't heal me." Don't ever say, "I don't know
why He won't heal me." Don't you ever utter that out your mouth,
not ever, not ever. Stay on the God side of everything. GLORIA:
Amen. KENNETH: And as she continued to do that, she
continued to improve. She continued to improve. Jesus
said, "You'll have whatsoever you say. When you pray, believe
you receive it, and you will have it." And she just says, "I
got it. Glory to God." GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: And, you
know, it began to--hey, she began to jog a little bit. Man,
she began to jog a little bit more. And, hallelujah, made
whole, perfectly made whole. GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH:
Ho-ho! That's good, isn't it? GLORIA: Isn't that
awesome? KENNETH: Glory to God. Ha-ha-ha-ha.
Gloria and I'll be back in just a moment.

God's WORD Brings You Victory with Kenneth & Gloria Copeland (Air Date 12-30-16) - Duration: 26:15.
KENNETH: We need to be asking God for more demonstrations of
the Spirit. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: See, things
don't happen in the earth until men ask God for it,
because He has turned this earth over to men.
(Singing) I know my God has made the way for
me. I know my God has made the way for me.
KENNETH: Hello, everybody. We're Kenneth and Gloria Copeland.
Let's have a word of prayer, we'll get right into today's
Bible lesson. Father, we praise You, and we thank You. GLORIA:
Thank You, Father. KENNETH: We worship You. We open our hearts,
and we open our minds. We fully expect the greater One that
lives within us, the Spirit of the living God-- GLORIA: Praise
God. KENNETH: --our teacher, our comforter, our helper, our
intercessor, our guide-- GLORIA: Thank You. KENNETH: --our
counselor, our strengthener, our standby--we fully expect Him to
equip Gloria and me today-- GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH: --with
every ministry gift necessary to teach this Word today with
accuracy and make it plain and clear, and to move throughout
this entire radio and television audience-- GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH:
--on their ears, that all together we will hear and
receive revelation from heaven. GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: We
thank You, and we praise You. GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: In
Jesus' name. GLORIA: In Jesus' name. KENNETH: Amen. GLORIA:
Amen. KENNETH: Hallelujah. GLORIA: Hallelujah. KENNETH:
Gloria, you look wonderful today. GLORIA: Thank you,
darlin'. KENNETH: Amen. GLORIA: You look good yourself. KENNETH:
I appreciate that. (Both Laugh) Glory to God. I want--let me
tell you something. I've got something to tell you.
Yesterday, Gloria and I were enjoying our time off yesterday,
and it just came to me like a revelation. I've never thought
of this before, how wonderful it is to get up every morning of
the world and not have a gripey wife. GLORIA: (Laughs) Oh,
that's good. KENNETH: Never. "Oh, Brother Copeland--" Don't
"Oh, Brother Copeland" me. I mean, me and this girl have been
together now for 54 1/2 years. GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH:
I'm going to tell you what. Now, I didn't say that for me.
There's been a lot of times I got up griping. She never has.
GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: Not that I--if she ever did, I don't
remember it. I mean, she might, you know, have been a little off
somewhere. She never griped at me, never, ever. GLORIA: I love
you. KENNETH: And it was her life--like--her life of love
that--that got the gripe out of me. And for the last many, many,
many, many years, we get up in the morning, we're not gripey at
one another, and how wonderful it is. "Well, I sure wish I
could have--" Well, quit griping yourself and give the Lord an
opportunity to let love work. Amen. GLORIA: It's wonderful--
KENNETH: Isn't it good? GLORIA: --living in peace and harmony.
KENNETH: Amen. Ho-ho, hallelujah. GLORIA: I'm blessed
you figured that out and told me, and now I know. Hallelujah.
KENNETH: Amen. Boy, it's just wonderful. And now, let's open
our Bibles today to I Corinthians 2. The Lord began to
deal with all of us, Pastor and Terri and--Pastor George and
Terri, pastors at EMIC, and with me. And I'm--I've got back and
listened to tapes of Brother Hagin's that were preached back
in the '80s and in through there. And God was dealing with
him over the same thing right there then. And so I want to
share some things with you. Now, let's go to II Corinthians, and
we'll read the 4th and the 5th verses. "And my speech--" This
is the apostle Paul. Now listen. "My speech and my preaching was
not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of
the Spirit--" Talking about the Holy Spirit. "--and of power,"
anointing power, "That your faith should not stand in the
wisdom of men, but in the power of God," that--that your and my
faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but our faith
should stand--or our faith should be in the power of God.
We should have faith for. We should have faith in. We should
fully expect manifestations all the time-- GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH:
--of the power of God. Hallelujah. Now, I want to go
over now to II Timothy 3. And notice this. "This I know
also--" this is also the apostle Paul, of course. And it--writing
his letter to Timothy at--who at the time is a young pastor.
"This I know also, that in the last days--" Well, we are in the
last of the last days. And this is--this--this time right here,
we're seeing this manifested in our presence more than any
generation before. These have always been here because the
devil's still here, and people still yield to it. But we're
seeing things now that, particularly in the United
States, that we've just never seen before in this country.
GLORIA: Praise God. Mm. KENNETH: I know also that in the last
days, perilous times shall come. GLORIA: Perilous. KENNETH: "For
men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters,
proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
without natural affection, truth--truce breakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are
good, traitors, heady-minded, lovers of pleasures more than
lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power
thereof." Can you see that? Now, here's what struck me. Oh, my, I
mean, it--Gloria, it hit me almost like somebody had hit me
with a fist. Of course, I didn't feel it physically, but--
GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: But it--ooh, it's the-- GLORIA: Felt
it, yeah. KENNETH: Yeah. I'm reading this. Now notice,
"traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than
lovers of God; having a form of godliness." He was not talking
about the world. GLORIA: Hmm-mm. KENNETH: He was talking about
this--this horrible demonic stuff being manifested in
churches. I'm going to let that soak in on you a little bit.
Boy, I mean, that's the way that hit me. "God, really?" Well,
you've always had this with demons, I mean, see, we don't
wrestle with flesh and blood. People--people yield to the
devil. They cooperate with him, this is what you're going to
get. But, hey, churches? Oh, Lord. Well, yeah. We've seen
this for years, having a form of godliness, go through all of the
religious rituals and everything. But when it comes to
anything that has power, well, you know, deny that, deny the
power of it. "Well, that's all passed away," or "God doesn't do
that anymore." Or some fool said, "God's dead," you know,
and other ignoramus things like that. But now, what causes that?
Being religiously brainwashed instead of actually getting into
the New Testament and studying it by the Holy Spirit and
realizing it's God's Word. Well, this is not--now, the denying
the power thereof has been around a long time. But now
we're beginning to see these other things manifest, like
"without natural affection." That's homosexuality. GLORIA:
Yeah, yeah. KENNETH: And so forth. You begin to see it
manifest in the church. GLORIA: "Incontinent" is unrestrained.
KENNETH: Yeah, unrestrained. And you--you begin to see it in
churches and church people and so forth and so on. Well, we're
there. So now, "denying the power." The power. Let's talk
about the power. Let's go back over here now. I want to
read--let's go back over there where we were a moment ago in I
Corinthians 2. Let's read that again and refresh our minds to
that. I turned two pages at once. Here we go. Verse 4, "My
speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power." Now, I
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power." Now, I
want to notice here, your faith should not stand in the wisdom
of men, but it should stand--your faith should be in
the power of God. Now, Jesus said-- GLORIA: I see what
they're saying. He's saying, not--you--don't put your
alliance, your confidence, your faith in the wisdom of men.
KENNETH: Yeah. But in the power of God. GLORIA: Put it in the
power of God, yeah. KENNETH: And we should be believing God. And
we should be believing God for demonstrations of power. Isn't
that what He said? Demonstrations of the Spirit and
power. That would be the power gifts of the Spirit. And he went
ahead and talked about it in the 12th chapter here. Of course, it
is. That's where he's going with that. GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH:
Now, I--I--ha-ha. We've not been doing what the Scripture
Now, I--I--ha-ha. We've not been doing what the Scripture
encourages us--well, no, it's more than encourage. GLORIA:
Admonishes. KENNETH: Admonishes. That's a good word. Thank you,
Gloria. Admonishes us to do. We need to be asking God for more
demonstrations of the Spirit. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: See,
things don't happen in the earth until--till men ask God for it
because He--He has turned this over to men. And He doesn't just
come bullying His way in among His people. And a lot of times,
more than--more than I personally believe--I don't give
you my personal opinion very much because I give you what the
Word says. But I do have the Holy Ghost. And I really--I am
really, really impressed that God's ready all the time to do
these things. Nobody's asking Him for it. GLORIA: Mm. That's
an interesting thought. KENNETH: And particularly when people are
going along, I mean, the Lord just really jerked me up over
this some time ago. He said, "You're not--you're not seeking
Me for this." Oh, Lord. See, we're--we expect it all the time
because that's what we do and that's who we are. We expect it.
GLORIA: And we want it. KENNETH: But I wasn't spending any time
interceding. Nothing happens until intercession goes forth,
is the whole key to this thing. Somebody's got to get before
God, and then He moves in the earth. Let's go over here to the
12th chapter. And I want you to notice--let's just begin reading
now at the 1st verse there. "Now concerning spiritual gifts,
brethren, I would not have you ignorant. You know that you were
Gentiles, carried away under these dumb idols, even as you
were led." "Dumb idols," that means those idols couldn't
speak. GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH: They're made out of
wood and whatever then. They couldn't say a thing. "--even as
you were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man
speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: that no
man can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are
diversities of gift, but the same Spirit. There are
differences of administrations, but the same Lord. There are
diversities of operation, but it is the same God which worketh
all in all." Now listen to this. "Manifestation--" or you could
say "demonstration," couldn't you? GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: "A
manifestation of the Spirit--" The Holy Spirit would be a
demonstration. "--of the Spirit is given to every man to profit
withal." These gifts don't belong to individuals. They
belong to the Body of Christ. GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: Now,
someone said, "Brother Copeland, do you have the--you have
the--the--will you have the gift of the word of knowledge?" The
word of knowledge functions in me and through me more than
these other gifts do. But that's about to change. GLORIA: Good.
KENNETH: Because this is my fault that the others weren't
producing. And I'm going to get to that. GLORIA: Oh, good.
KENNETH: But no, I don't have it. I mean, if I had it, I'd use
it all the time. But I'm available and--wait a minute,
and I'll show you what he's saying here. "But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit
withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom;
to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another
faith--" Now, that--the Greek text is better translated there
as "special faith." This is not saving faith. This is--this is a
manifestation of God's faith added to yours. And it--whoa,
it's--it's one of the power gifts-- GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH:
--that we're going to be talking about. Okay. GLORIA: Where are
you? KENNETH: Ha-ha-ha, yeah. Verse 9. "To another special
faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts," plural," of
healings." It is plural. GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: Should have
been--should have been translated plural. "To another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another different
kinds of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues: all
these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to
every man severally as he will." Now, He--He's moving as He
wills. Well, you don't just sit and wait till He wills, because
He can be willing to do something, but if you haven't
asked, you haven't exercised any faith, then--then He's very
limited to how much of that He can do. And now, I want to show
you this. Let--those--let's look at those power gifts again.
Verse 9, "To another special faith by the same Spirit; to
another gifts of healings by the same Spirit; to another the
working of miracles." Those are the power gifts. Now, you have
other things going on in those other gifts. You have things
that--gifts that reveal things and so forth. For right now, we
won't get over into that because we're dealing with these power
demonstrations of the Holy Spirit. Now, you go and you
study all the rest of this chapter. Now come down here to
the 31st verse. "Covet earnestly." I thought we weren't
supposed to covet. No. It didn't say, "Don't covet." It said,
"Don't covet stuff that belongs to somebody else." GLORIA:
That's right. KENNETH: This belongs to you. If you're born
again, these things belong to you. See, you don't have to be
in the five-fold ministry for these things to manifest. You
can just be like Jesus said in this 16th chapter of the book of
Mark, last chapter. He said, "These signs will follow them
that believe." It didn't say nothing about the ministry. And
one of the things that you did, "They shall lay hands on the
sick, and they shall recover." That's for every believer. As a
witness, we ought to be out there talking about these things
and asking God to manifest himself in me. GLORIA: Praise
God. KENNETH: Now, these gifts, according--if you are called in
the fivefold ministry; apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor,
teacher, there are certain of these gifts that are ministry
equipment like in the office of the prophet. Well, you expect
the prophet to prophesy. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: And--but
revelation gifts especially. But also in the prophet's ministry
are manifestations of the power gifts. And that--that's where
we're--that's our target right now. Okay. "Covet earnestly
these gifts." Desire them, desire spiritual gifts. Praise
the Lord. Now, let's go over here to the 14th chapter.
"Follow after love and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that
you may prophesy." Now, I wanted to read that for you. Desire
these gifts. Ask God for them. We haven't been doing that, not
nearly like we should have. And like I said, the Lord--the Lord
pulled me up over this. He said, "Now, you're not--you're
not--you said it like this. You said, "We're not making enough
over miracles." GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH: We're not making
enough out of that. We ought to be talking about miracles. We
ought to be asking God for miracles. We ought to be moving
in that direction all the time. Now, let's go over here to the
book of Acts, and let's look here in the 4th chapter of the
book of Acts. And they had--they had called up the--the apostles
and so forth, and, you know, for preaching in the name of Jesus
and, you know, they put them in jail and all that. Now, come
over here to the 29th verse. I want you to notice this prayer.
"For--And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant
unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak the
word--" Now, they're asking for this. "--by stretching forth
your hand to heal; that signs and wonders--" See there,
they're asking for the miracle of the power of gifts. Now, they
could--they didn't know that that's what those were. They
couldn't go to I Corinthians 12. It hadn't been written yet.
"--that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy
child Jesus. And when they prayed, the place was shaken
where they were assembled--" It's time for some house-shaking
stuff going on. GLORIA: It is. I agree. Yes, amen. KENNETH:
Praise God. GLORIA: Amen. KENNETH: Amen. GLORIA: Praise
God. KENNETH: Isn't this wonderful? GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH:
Now, in these--I was praying. I want you to listen to me now
because we need to close this right here. But now listen to
me. Back some time ago, right before Southwest Believer's
Convention, I was just out on my deck just praying in the Spirit,
getting ready, just preparing myself. And I heard this come
out of my mouth in this order, and I wondered about it at the
time. I said, "Father, I give myself to gifts of healings,
working of miracles, and special faith." Praise God. And I
thought, "Well, wonder why I didn't start at the top with the
Word of wisdom." And I asked the Lord, and He said, "Well,
that--you know, that's what I want to manifest." I look back
on that now, and I could see that's what I was doing. I was
asking Him. I was giving myself to that. And here, lately, He
said, "I want you to start asking Me for those. You ask Me
for manifestation. You ask Me for manifestations of the glory.
You ask Me for manifestations of Myself in your midst, and you
pray these prayers like we're praying here, and you expect Me
to do the unexpected. And the more you expect it, the more
I'll do it. And the more you talk it, the bigger it'll get."
And we're out of time, and-- GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH:
--Gloria and I'll be back in just a moment. GLORIA: That's
good. KENNETH: Ha-ha-ha! Hallelujah. GLORIA: Praise God.
KENNETH: Amen! GLORIA: That's awesome. KENNETH: They'll
manifest around you right now! Praise God. They're manifesting
right now. Some of you are taking it. Someone was healed of
a broken knee right then, a broken kneecap on the right
side. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. GLORIA: Glory to God. KENNETH: I
don't--well, yeah. GLORIA: Yes, yes, yes, yes. KENNETH: Praise
God. Hallelujah! Thank You, Lord! Take it! GLORIA: Thank
You, God. KENNETH: Take it! Take it! "That's mine. Glory to God.
Those gifts belong to me--" GLORIA: Yes. KENNETH: "--as much
as they do anybody." GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH: Ha-ha-ha.
Thank You, Jesus. Ha-ha. Thank You, Lord. Praise God. Mm.
GLORIA: Thank You, Lord. KENNETH: Oh, thank You, Jesus.
Thank You, Jesus. Tumors are being removed. Tumors are
disappearing right now, malignant tumors. Some of them
are not malignant. Growths are being--someone has warts all
over your body. You start saying it now, "Warts, you get off of
me. You're--you're a trespasser. Get off my body in the name of
Jesus." GLORIA: Amen. KENNETH: Thank You for it, Father.
GLORIA: Praise God. KENNETH: Whoa. GLORIA: Thank You.
KENNETH: Blessed be the Lord. Mm. GLORIA: Thank You, Jesus.
Glory to God. Listen to this Scripture: "And great power gave
he the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus."
KENNETH: That's what it's all about. GLORIA: "Great power and
great grace was upon them all." KENNETH: That's it right there.
And we're out of time. We'll be back in a minute.

Praise God. Lester and Lorna Holland, watch this. NARRATOR:
Lester and Lorna Holland spent 17 years ministering to the
families of Rhema Bible Church in Randburg. During their time
at Rhema, they served as home cell leaders, lay ministers, and
full-time assistant pastors before God called them to start
another church. In 2013, Pastor Ray McCauley released them to
start Rhema Faith Life Church where they now serve as senior
pastors. LESTER: In 1996, we were at Bible school. We went
and prayed at a friend's house after Bible school, so late at
night. And as we walked in there one evening, this lady was
playing a videotape--still at that time--of Gloria Copeland,
of "God Can Turn It Around." And that night, supernaturally, God
placed a desire in both our hearts just to start listening
to their messages and their teachings. It was supernatural.
And from that day onwards, we could never stop listening to
the ministry. And in '96, God then led us to partner with
Kenneth Copeland Ministries. From that day onwards, we've
just seen God do amazing things in our lives and just take us
from glory to glory through partnership. We are definitely
partakers of the grace that is upon this ministry. We went
through a very difficult patch in our lives. We lost our home
in 19--I think it was 2000. And we lost our business in 1999.
So, so much things went wrong, so many things went wrong for
us. LORNA: And, you know, when we joined up with KCM, we became
part of the bigger family of the Body of Christ. And that is such
a blessing to watch the fruit, because many times, in those
dark times, we can call and receive prayer from those who
work at the prayer line, prayed with us fervently, and believed
God with us. It's actually bringing into remembrance one
particular time when a lady prayed with my husband. LESTER:
Yes. I was really going through a difficult time. I was working
for a family member, and things were not going so well. I was
really trusting God for financial increase in terms of
seeing to my family. And I'll never forget the Spirit of God
said, "Phone Kenneth Copeland Ministries South Africa." And I
phoned, and it was a time I was looking for a new job. And as I
phoned, I explained the situation, and when I was done,
she said, "Okay, let us pray." And when she said, "Let us
pray," our phones got cut off. It just went off. And I thought,
"What's going on here?" And then I phoned back, and when I
called, she said to me, "The Lord just gave me a word for you
right now, for your situation." And she said, "In Isaiah 64--"
or 65, excuse me, "where it says, 'Before you call, I will
answer you; and while you're still speaking, I will hear."
And--and I began to latch onto that promise, meditated on it.
And through that, within the next week or two, I received a
new job, and my salary doubled from that situation. So we've
seen the power of prayer that comes through partnership.
Partnership takes the struggle out of everything. LORNA: Yes.
LESTER: There's--whatever God's doing in your life, whatever
He's trying to accomplish is so much more quicker, so much more
easier than it would have been if you were not partners with a
ministry. I remember in '99, as well, we had a midterm break at
Bible school, and they were looking for people to work in
the warehouse here at Kenneth Copeland Ministries South
Africa. And I jumped in. I said, "No, I'm going to work." I--but
I wanted to be there. And I--you know, I just thought, being
around the Word of God, this is really going to change my life.
And I worked for, I think, three weekends? LORNA: Yeah, just
three weeks. LESTER: And at the end of that three weeks, we got
our wages. And as I was walking out, the Lord said, "That is not
your wages. That is your seed that you're going to sow back
into this ministry." And I thought, "Lord, we really need
this money." LORNA: Mm-hmm. LESTER: You know? But my wife
and I, we agreed. LORNA: Yeah. LESTER: We prayed over our seed,
and we sewed it into the ministry that day. And from that
day onwards, we've never lacked. God has always taken care of us
and provided supernaturally for us. In the midst of darkness, in
the midst of negative circumstances, I had to keep
believing that it's God's will for us to prosper. And I'll
never forget saying, "God, I know that this situation is not
going to change the Word of God, but the Word of God must change
the situation." I mean, it's not about the money. You can see.
LORNA: Yes. LESTER: I mean, this is a ministry that--like they
say, they're extremely blessed, extremely healed-- LORNA: Yes.
LESTER: --they're extremely well. But they--the focus is
always on others, their partners. It's always about,
"What can we do for our partners?" LORNA: In the form of
the letter and the magazine and the program, because everything
they do is with us in mind as partners. LESTER: So I'm so
grateful for Brother Copeland and-- LORNA: Yes. LESTER:
--Sister Gloria for giving up their lives so that today we can
be where we are. So I'm grateful. KENNETH: Now, Lester
said something that--oh, this is just--you remember hearing about
going across the desert, and there would be--if there was
a--someone had a well across the desert there, and you'd come
upon that, and it would say--there would be a jar of
water inside that container, whenever it was there when you
got to that well. I'm talking about way back there. I'm
talking about a hundred years ago, 150 years ago. And there
would be a sign there that said, "Don't drink this water. Prime
the pump and leave the water jar full." Now, some fool drank that
water, now he's done for. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: See, he
could have filled up his canteens and his water bags and
everything. And the next--so is the next guy that comes across
the desert. GLORIA: Yeah. KENNETH: He's going to die of
thirst. Now, get this now. Listen to what he said. The Lord
said, "That's not your money. That's your seed." Don't ever
eat your seed. Sow it. If you don't have any money left, don't
spend it. I don't care--I don't care if you've been three days
without food, you get some money, don't--don't--no, no, no,
no. Don't do that. Don't eat the seed. Sow it. God'll provide.
See, II Corinthians 9, Jesus, our high priest,
provides--actually, it says He ministers bread for your food,
he ministered--he ministers seed. He'll provide you seed to
sow. Now, I--thank You, Lord. Thank You, Lord. I can't--the
Lord just really won't let me off this right now. And there's
some other marvelous things there that he and Lorna said.
But still, this is--the impact of this has to strike your
spirit so powerfully that you realize that Jesus said the
whole kingdom of God is as if a man puts a seed in the ground.
GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: Sow it. It'll grow. They came to Jesus
and said, "Increase our faith." He said, "If you had faith as a
seed, you would say--" You would sow it. GLORIA: That what you've
got. KENNETH: Yeah, yeah. You sow what you have. And this is
so important financially. GLORIA: Hmm. KENNETH: You--you
break--you break up the fallow ground. You break up the dam
that's withholding your finances when you--when, out of your
heart, you sow that seed. You remember the woman with the--the
widow woman and her--that mite? That's the last thing she had.
Whoa, I tell you, one of the first things I'm going to do
when I get to heaven, I want to--I want to talk to her. "What
happened to you after that?" I want to know back--whoa-ho.
GLORIA: "Tell me a story." KENNETH: There's no telling--I
mean, well, you know what--I mean, she got Jesus' attention.
You get Jesus' attention, everything's going to change,
brother. You're going to get up the next morning with a whole
new deal. Ha-ha-ha. Amen. GLORIA: A crop. KENNETH: Oh,
yeah. Praise God. All right. John Toth, take it from here,
buddy. JOHN TOTH: My name is John Toth. I'm from Calgary,
Alberta, Canada. Initially, I went to a college where Brother
Copeland and Brother Hagin's ministries were spoken of as a
false teaching. And that impacted me significantly. And
then even in--as I was early on, I was in ministry for a period
of time, and it continued to be, that's how they were spoken of
in the circles that I was in. Over the course of a number of
years, something was going on inside of me, and I felt that
I--I needed to grow in faith. And I had to, every morning, be
up watching Kenneth Copeland's program, Believer's Voice of
Victory. A switch went on inside, and there was this
hunger and passion. There was no legalism in it. It was just, I
had to be watching it. And so it became a part of my devotional
time for a few years. But what impacted me so greatly through
the teaching was the Word. Everything was centered on the
Word. And then there is the example that would be given with
it. But the example wasn't first; the Word was first. And
the example was proof of the Word. The outcome was proof of
the Word. So that--yeah, that really encouraged me. And
just--I feel that I've always had a passion for the Word, for
the Scripture. But that assisted me a great deal in understanding
how to study and how to utilize the Word in my own life so
practically. My attitude--my attitude towards myself has
grown dramatically, because before that time, due to the
environment I was raised in, had been taught in, there was a lot
of legalism in it. I struggled to believe that God believed in
me. I struggled to believe that all the promises of Christ were
my promises. And there were just some things in the repetition
and the consistent reinforcement of us being a child of Abraham,
of taking the promises, of going to Galatians and see
that--seeing that we are children of Abraham, of
seeing--of listening to Brother and Sister Copeland unfold
communion and what the New Covenant means. And in that
process, something inside said, "Yes," and, "This is for me."
But not only was it for me, it's for me to be able to impart to
all those around me. Actually, I travel a lot so I frequently
will, at night--you know, you're alone in a hotel room, I will
frequently tune into BVOV, go online and watch and listen to
speakers. I have many different teaching series, and I listen to
those over and over and over. So for me, there's--there's
this--this hope within that I can be a person that powerfully
impacts the world around me and on a greater scale; and that
through my life, as I live it, that people around will see the
things the Lord can do through someone, and in this case,
through me, and go, "Yeah, He's real." KENNETH: I want to point
out something here. Gloria, you--John said that he has
different series and so forth on his computer. He watches it
online, but he's got--like we've done, we've got stuff
downloaded. And he said, "I watch this over and over." Now,
you might wonder, those of you watching on BVOVN, why we'll
show the same broadcasts over and over and over again. How
many times do you suppose we have listened to Brother
Hagin's? Who knows? GLORIA: A lot. KENNETH: Now, I went back
and began listening to him--I totally immersed myself again,
oh, months and months and months ago. And Gloria and I--it's my
telephone now instead of the tape recorder, of course. And we
go to bed at night with the--with my telephone laying in
between the two of us, listening to Brother Hagin. Well, as you
grow spiritually, you listen to a message here, and you glean
from that, and you make your notes and so forth. Now, as you
grow spiritually, "Where was that? I didn't hear that the
last time." Well, your spirit is growing up. You're hearing
things you didn't hear before. You may hear the--you will be
hearing the same words, but revelation is coming now on a
higher level. Amen. And it's--when you get hold--when
you hear a message, when that really ministers to you, it
really grabs your spirit, listen to it over and over-- GLORIA:
That's right. KENNETH: --and over and over and over, even if
it-- "Well, Brother Copeland, I--" Now, wait a minute. Jesus
said, "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceeds from the mouth of God." The Word of God is spirit
food the way natural food is physical food. Have you ever
eaten the same meal again and again and again and again and
again and again? Absolutely. Every morning, probably. But the
thing of it is, you're--you're not--you're not listening for
entertainment. This is not entertainment. It has an
entertaining value to it because you like it. But, we're not
doing this for entertainment. GLORIA: We're feeding on it.
KENNETH: We're feeding on it, feeding your faith. "Faith
cometh by hearing, hearing by the Word of God." And it's
growing all the time. And then as you act on the Word, now
you're exercising your faith. So what is it? Diet and exercise. I
mean, just like in the natural-- GLORIA: Yeah, that's good.
KENNETH: --diet and exercise. You get the right diet, you get
the right exercise, I don't care if you are 80 years old or--you
know, I'm not going to tell you how old Gloria is, but she's
five years younger than me. But--ha-ha-ha. And you're--and
you're healthy, healthier than we've ever been in our lives,
really. GLORIA: Mm-hmm. KENNETH: And--because we still have good
diet and exercise both spiritually and physically.
GLORIA: Yes. It takes both. KENNETH: It takes both. Now--
"Well, Brother Copeland, I--you know--looks to me like at your
age you'd want to be slowing down." No, no, no, no, no, no. I
don't plan on slowing down. I--as long as I'm on this earth,
I'm going to be preaching the Word of God. That's what I do,
that's what I am, that's what I'm called to do. Now, listen to
me very carefully. As I become older in years, my diet and
exercise on the Word, I don't--I don't particularly like getting
on a treadmill and doing all that stuff. I--but why do I do
that? Now, are you listening to me? Jesus, by the Spirit of God,
said to my spirit--that small--that still small voice
right here in my spirit man speaks to every other born-again
child of God. He said, "You remember Romans 12, 'Offer your
body a living sacrifice'?" He said, "I sacrificed my body for
your body." GLORIA: Hmm. KENNETH: Now, you're sacrificing
your body for my body. I'm doing this because I'm called to help
you. GLORIA: The Body of Christ. KENNETH: The Body of Christ. I'm
sacrificing my body for His body. When I saw that, ha--now,
you remember what John was saying? He had been struggling,
believing and all that. But you get over in the Word of God, and
you begin to live and walk by faith-- GLORIA: My, my. KENNETH:
--the struggle is over. GLORIA: Glory to God. KENNETH: The more
you learn, the more testimonies like that you hear and you begin
to realize, "Hey, I'm in it for God first, other people second,
and then me." And when you get it in that proper order,
whoa-ho-ho, things start working. You start receiving
your healing. Your finances begin to turn around. Why?
You've got things in proper order. God first; in other
words, put His Word first place in your life. God first, the
Body of Christ second, me third. Amen. My--my calling to the Body
of Christ. Now, when you do that, you enter into a place
where the Spirit of God, the greater One-- "Greater is He
that's in you than he that's in the world." Now He's responsible
for your well-being. Ain't that good? GLORIA: Yeah, it is.
KENNETH: And that anointing begins to work all the time.
GLORIA: Not all the time. KENNETH: Now, you don't have to
be a preacher to do this. No, no, no, no, no, no. See, this
works for the believer. It works for us because we're believers,
not because we're preachers. GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH:
It--the--and every believer is called to be a witness and
minister to the Body of Christ, building itself up and edifying
itself, itself, itself. He called--He's given "some,
apostles; prophets; evangelists; pastors; teachers; for the
perfecting of the saints, for the edifying of the body of the
Christ," the building up of the Body of Christ. Everybody.
GLORIA: That's right. KENNETH: Everybody. Building itself up in
love. Isn't that wonderful? GLORIA: Always having a steady
diet of nutrition for your spirit, the Word of God. Always
having it. KENNETH: Always. GLORIA: I mean, you can't do it
without continual, continually--continually--
KENNETH: And your soul. GLORIA: --feeding your eyes and your
ears and getting it down in your heart, the Word of God, and
bringing it out your mouth. KENNETH: And your soul. GLORIA:
Yeah. KENNETH: And your body. GLORIA: Yeah. Spirit, soul, and
body. KENNETH: That's a winning combination;
spirit, soul, body. And we're out of time. Gloria
and I'll be back in just a moment.

Make p-Chlorophenyl Acetonitrile - Step 4 in Pyrimethamine Synthesis - Duration: 11:52.
Warning: Sodium cyanide is extremely poisonous.
Para-chlorobenzyl chloride is a carcinogenic lachrymator.
Wear gloves when handling them and work in a fume hood.
Greetings fellow nerds.
We are now entering step 4 of making pyrimethamine
and to do that we need to make p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile,
also known as p-chlorobenzyl cyanide.
We'll be using the p-chlorobenzyl chloride and the sodium cyanide we made in a previous video.
First we get 50g of p-chlorobenzyl chloride.
Interesting enough today is a cold day in my lab and the p-chlorobenzyl chloride actually froze solid.
Now to this we add 7.2g of potassium iodide.
The exact quantity is not critical as this is just a catalyst.
Now we and add 19.3g of sodium cyanide.
Then we add 250 mL of acetone that has been dried overnight with molecular sieves.
Remember to add in a stir bar.
Now on top of the flask setup a reflux condenser column.
Now vigorously stir the mixture and gently raise the temperature until it starts to reflux.
Two things are happening.
First the potassium iodide is reacting with the p-chlorobenzyl chloride to form p-chlorobenzyl iodide and potassium chloride.
Now this might seem a bit odd since organochlorides are more stable than organoiodides.
But this reaction works because it's being driven forward by the very low solubility of potassium chloride in acetone.
Potassium iodide is slightly soluble so the reaction proceeds forward.
This is a useful trick in organic chemistry to make organochlorides into more reactive organoiodides.
It's such a useful reaction that it even has its own name, the Finkelstein reaction.
Usually it's done with sodium iodide since that works even better than potassium iodide.
I'm using potassium iodide because i ran out of sodium iodide.
Now if you're wondering, the aromatic para-chlorine does not react
because aromatic halides are not susceptible to Sn2 nucleophilic substitutions.
Okay, after that occurs the sodium cyanide now reacts with the newly formed p-chlorobenzyl iodide
to create p-chlorobenzyl cyanide, also known as p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
The sodium iodide that was produced then goes back into the original step to create more p-chlorobenzyl iodide.
So we only needed a catalytic amount of iodide.
Now unfortunately this overall reaction is very slow since it relies on salts with only weak solubility in acetone.
Even under refluxing this will take a full 24 hours or so.
I'm going to skip ahead until it's complete.
And here we are after 24 hours and then letting it cool.
Now we have to isolate our product.
First we filter over this fritted funnel.
To maximize recovery we also wash the salts with acetone.
And there is our filtrate.
Now p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile is clear but our filtrate is orange from impurities.
Anyway, set the filtrate aside and move the fritted funnel to a new collection flask.
We now dissolve the residue in water.
These salts contain unreacted cyanide and we should deal with that first.
Once it's all dissolved we add an oxidant like bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
I'm adding in sodium dichloroisocyanurate which is a highly soluble form of pool chlorine.
The idea is to convert the cyanide into relatively harmless cyanate.
Granted, you will make small amounts of chloroform due to the reaction of hypochlorite with residual acetone.
You'll also boil off the volatile products due to the heat produced.
But i'd much rather deal with that than with cyanide.
Once again, make sure sure you're doing this in a fume hood.
Now back to our acetone filtrate.
Setup a simple distillation apparatus and distill off the volatile acetone from our reaction mixture.
Set the hotplate temperature to 130 degrees celsius.
The p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile boils well above that so we won't have to worry about it distilling over.
I'm going to wrap my flask in foil to keep in the heat.
While i can easily crank the temperature higher,
I instead want to be as gentle as possible so we don't burn and decompose our product.
Now if you've been following my channel for the past year
you'd know that it's been many months since the last step of my pyrimethamine synthesis.
Why such a lengthy delay? Well i did attempt this back in august but i failed miserably.
Turns out the cyanide i made wasn't pure enough.
While it can dissolve gold and such, it wasn't pure enough for organic synthesis.
So i had to massively purify it by converting to prussian blue, filtering,
and then calcining it with sodium hydroxide to make purer sodium cyanide that i could then recrystallize from ethanol and water.
I had to also remake all my chemicals that i wasted in the august synthesis.
And then i ran into a major setback with my hotplate stirrers all breaking.
It's only now in december that i'm finally back on track.
My apologies for such delays.
I hope you guys are still onboard with the pyrimethamine synthesis.
My major blunder was using bad cyanide and not titrating it to determine purity.
Now due to the excessive dangers of cyanide i'm not sure if i'll make a video on its repurification and titration.
Okay, back to the synthesis.
Keep distilling until the temperature starts dropping, indicating everything that can boil at 130 degrees Celsius has boiled off.
And here is our residue containing our product as well as all the side products and contaminants.
Now we need to wash out any water soluble contaminants.
Add in 150 mL of water and stir.
Now the brown color is from small amounts of triiodide resulting from the oxidation of iodide ions with air.
To reduce them we add in 15 grams of sodium metabisulfite.
This dissolves in the water and reduces the triiodide ions into clear iodide ions.
This will help us wash it out.
Stir the mixture for about half an hour.
You can get even better triiodide removal the longer you react it, but i'm not going to bother.
Okay, now using a separatory funnel recover the lower organic phase and discard the upper aqueous phase.
P-chlorophenyl acetonitrile is denser than water so that's why the phase sinks rather than floats as in most organic extractions.
And there is our crude p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
For better purity i recommend you wash the organic phase again with 100mL of distilled water.
To increase our purity further we cool the mixture in the refrigerator to five celsius and let it crystallize.
p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile has a melting point of about room temperature so we can purify it that way.
Just pour off what doesn't solidify.
And there we have it, 44 grams of crude product.
I'm not going to give a percentage yield because we don't know yet if this material is pure.
To get even higher purity, we first remelt the product in hot water
and then we set aside the crude liquid p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile in a room at 18 degrees celsius and let it sit.
A precision temperature controlled cooler is best if you have one.
It will very slowly crystallize.
Unlike the tiny crystals from putting it in a refrigerator.
These very large crystals are much better at excluding impurities.
Wait a few days or even weeks until the crystals no longer grow and then pour off the liquid.
This should be exceptionally pure p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
The yield is very low though about 6 grams or 12%.
I'm hoping the leftover supernatant on the left is still pure enough for use even though it didn't crystallize at 18 celsius.
But the only way we'll know for certain is through some form of analysis.
So I sent samples of both the supernatant and the crystals for NMR spectroscopy.
Let's first look at the spectrum for the crystals which know have to be either exceptionally pure product,
or exceptionally pure crap if we failed.
And this beautifully clean spectrum proves we do have our target p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
This peak here corresponds to the benzylic hydrogens over here.
And these symmetrical multiplet corresponds to the aromatic hydrogens over here.
This here is water impurities since i didn't ask for dry NMR solvent.
And this is the silicon reference standard used to calibrate the scale.
We don't actually have this in our sample, it was added in by the analytical laboratory running the machine.
I'm actually impressed with just how pure this is, even my professional synthetic work didn't always meet this level of quality.
So we have successfully made high purity p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
Our crystallized yield was only 12% though so let's see if the uncrystallized supernatant is still good enough to use.
And this is the NMR spectrum of the supernatant liquid.
It's actually is pretty good for an amateur level synthesis.
This peak here proves we have our desired p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile in relatively high yield.
As usual these are the aromatic peaks from the benzene ring.
We have small amounts of water and the the silicon reference standard.
Interestingly enough, a significant impurity is this stuff.
This, is para-chlorobenzyl amine.
You're probably wondering how that got in there.
It's actually a side product of our reaction.
We made p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile by nucleophilic substitution of cyanide onto a benzylic halide.
But, cyanide is nucleophilic on both ends.
Both the carbon and the nitrogen are nucleophilic and either side can attack the substrate.
Now the carbon side is more reactive in water free conditions which is why we used acetone with the water removed,
but attack by nitrogen is not eliminated.
What we get as a minority product is p-chlorobenzyl isocyanide.
This stuff is actually quite reactive and when we stirred with water we hydrolyzed it to form p-chloro benzylamine and formic acid.
The formic acid is soluble in water and was washed out during our washing steps.
so what we have left is this p-chloro benzylamine impurity that now appears in our spectrum.
We can actually remove this stuff by washing again with some dilute hydrochloric acid.
This reacts with the amines and converts them to water soluble salts.
Before i do that though i'm going to spend the next few weeks making a lot more of our product
so i have extra in case i blunder again.
Additionally, the NMR laboratory that analyzed my samples is closed for the holidays
so I wasn't able to incorporate an acid washed spectra for this video.
Hopefully I'll have that ready for you next month.
Anyway, we have nonetheless successfully made p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
Also known as p-chlorobenzyl cyanide.
Step 4 in our synthesis of pyrimethamine.
Now at this point i should probably point out where we are in our pathway to pyrimethamine.
Something i neglected to do earlier on.
In my defence, the pathway changed as i progressed as i eliminated many dead ends before they even made it to video.
And this seems to be the final pathway i'm setting on.
Anyway, we've pretty much covered all the precursors except for guanidine.
And I'll probably make another video optimizing one or two precursors.
As for the main pathway, we have now just cleared the synthesis of p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile.
We have a few more steps to go before we reach our target.
Next we'll try and react p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile with ethyl propionate.
Until then, thanks watching.
